She is a great teacher. Her notes and lectures are structured, concise, clear and relevant. She even provides you with the "fill-in-the-blank" notes. It is recommended you study and memorize and not slack off. The exams only get harder, so don't slack! No homework.

She is one of the best Science teachers you can have. She is well organized and explains everything in the simplest form that you can imagine. Sad to say that she is gone temporary til Spring 2006 or Summer. She is very eager for you to approach her so that you can understand anything that you are having problems with. Very patient too.
Left the Spring 2005 class due to pregnancy and had her test graded by a real jerk namely Summers. He didn't even make the test up. Thanks Tamyra. Take Salmi if you want to learn and understand a difficult subject.
this was a great teacher, wish there were more like her, i attended spring of 05, she left in middle of semester due to pregnancy. i got a B out of the class, probably could of had an a but the sub, Summer's, teaching very different and grade went down. would of been ok if same prof would of finished the class..don't slack...study
She is nice and explains the lecture very clear. However, you have to study hard to get ready for the exams; she is always willing to help if you ask her! A very nice person! :)
Very good teacher. Well organized. Explains the subject very clear. This class is hard so you need to study hard too.
Her test are pretty tough, but if you put in the effort to study and stay on task you will definitely pass with atleast a B. I recommend her for Bio 430 if you will be attending CRC.
Tamrya is a fantastic teacher. Very organized and can explain anything. She was helpful in lecture and labs, always challenging for comprehension. I learned a lot, even more than was required, but that's because she was interesting and explained well. I definetly recommend her. Wish I could take her to nursing school with me.
Tamyra is cool, she is a cool teacher to take, But i have heard that salmi is the best. I wish I could have taken her instead. Tamyra is very nice, her tests are very hard so study alot! she is helpful and thorough. I felt her lectures were in an upside down order but maybe that works for some. Shes ok, not too shabby.
I'm taking Bio 430 with Tamyra right now, let me clarify for those people who want to passA&P with an easy "A." You CAN"T pass this class with any teacher, except if you study so hard. I find her class EXTREMELY interesting, her lectures are clear, even if she is stuck on one topic for a while. I suggest her just to those students that study hard!:
Tamyra has really open my eyes to how interesting A&P is and how it applies to daily life. I enjoyed her class a lot and will miss it now that its over with! I really recommend her I have never had a professor so precise in her teaching she is also very organized also. Be prepared to put a lot of time and effort into studying. Open lab helps alot!
I did not like her at all. Her tests are unreasonable, very difficult, and confusing. If you want a good grade, take Troy at SCC.
I found her to be extremely hard teacher. Her tests are really difficult to pass. I just want to say - don't take this teacher and don't waste your time!
Dont lissen to them! She is sooooo nice and explains things very well! I'm a 2.70 student and I'm at a B+ so far. People are writting bad things about her so there will be room in her class. If you show up and do your best you will get at least a B. Few peple in the class have below that.
OMG! The best A&P instructor ever! I useally get C's in college and I have an B in her class. She explains things sooooo welll! I love her!
OMG!!!! She is soooooooo good. She is very clear and very helpfull. My friend took Salimi the first time and failed. She told me to take this teacher and I'm glad I did. A+ This is my first college A I Every earned. ( I have been going for 4 years)
Very smart! So nice and fair. I'm not the best student and I know I havent taken the final yet, But my B+ is looking like it can become an A. She is so helpfull. This will be the second A Ive ever got! I wish I would have studyed harder at the start of class.
YES!!! I love this lady! She is so good at teaching a very hard subject. I never thought that my only A this semester would be in bio 430, But oohhhh ya! I have one! I feel bad forr anyone who dosen't take Bio 430 with her, She is the best!
AWESOME! Wow I'm glad I took bio 430 with her. She explains things very well. I'm 42 and she proves that you can teach an old dog new tricks! I wish she was my teacher in all of my classes!
bEST TEACHER i HAVE EVER HAD! HANDS DOWN.
She is great. I have an B and if I turned in all of my homework, I could have a A. O well, she is great.
THANKS TO GOOD TEACHING, I WILL EARN AN A IN HER CLASS. SHE IS SOO COOL AND VERY NICE A +++++++=+=+++++=
Great instructor.
Best teacher I have ever had, no question about it. Not an easy class by any means but the way she teaches is extremely clear and she is so into what she is teaching that you can't help but get excited about it too! I wish that I could have her as my teacher always! If you take her be prepared to work hard with her to guide you through it :)
I learned alot; Very smart and fair.
She hella nice. I glad I took her. I gots me a B!
SHE IS VERY SMART AND EXPLAINS THE MATERIAL CRYSTAL CLEAR. I GOT INTERESTED IN THIS SUBJECT BECAUSE OF HER. I RECOMMEND HER 100% ! TAKE HER AND YOU WILL LEARN AND YOU WONT REGRET IT, I PROMISE YOU THAT!
it is a great instructor.
Carmona is one of the nicest teachers at CRC. I went into this class hoping for a B, because everyone said it's very hard. Don't get me wrong, it is hard, but she simplifies what would otherwise be complex topics. If I had done better on my 1st exam and quiz, an A would've been VERY possible! So don't slack off and study hard if you want that A :)
A lot of teachers on campus have lab AND lecture exams on the same day, but she has them on different days (one class day apart) which is a PLUS! Study guides are also posted online, but if you want to do well, you need to study beyond the guides. Take good notes and you'll do fine. She is very nice, and pretty too!
carmona is one of the best professors at crc. she's extremely helpful and very clear about each topic that she covers. i'm glad i took 430 with her. no regrets!
Tamyra is an amazing professor. Although the class content is very intense, she makes it easy to understand and makes you want to learn more. She is super easy going and very approachable with questions. Study study study and you will do well.
Brought some excitement to a subject that could have been dull.
Prof. Carmona is a very good teacher. I took BIO 430 with her. Her LEC tests are hard, so you have to study a lot, but as far as lecture itself she is super! She explains everything so clearly so that a baby would understand what she is saying! Take her. Prepare for hours of studying because it is a very difficult subject and lots of memorization!
Amazing professor!
She is EXTREMELY hard.
She breaks it down so you can digest it easy lol But then if Your a guy its gonna be distracting because she hot omg! shes distracting herself. but then shes a serious teacher and her lecture test don't play at all. Spend some time with reviewing back at lecture notes you'll be fine.
Professor Carmona is the BEST teacher I have ever had. She is very clear and informational. She has a great deal of knowledge in this subject and teaches what she knows very well. I had a wonderful BIO 430 teacher but P. Carmona blew that professor out of the water. Loved, Loved this class and the professor. Take her!!
I am only a month into this class and absolutely love my professor. She is extremely organized and has amazing teaching ethics. She is really good at explaining the lectures and makes it easy to understand. This class is difficult, but having a great professor makes all the difference in the world. I totally recommend her.
I am only a month into this class and absolutely love my professor. She is extremely organized and has amazing teaching ethics. Loved loved this prof. She explains things so clearly. Gives you a study guide that is almost exactly the essay portions of her test. I highly recommend using a recorder for lectures. Helps immensly. Ive scored above 95 on all assignments and tests!
I highly recommend taking her class. If you record her lectures and print out the lecture slides, then you will have an easy time studying and getting good grades on her exams. The book is not completely necessary. She never said to "take out your books and turn to page 115." It's completely supplemental.
I took her Bio 430 spring2013 and got an A! Prof. Carmona is extremely helpful & very knowledgeable. She grades fairly so don't expect any extra credits or bonus points. She teaches you everything you need to know for the exams. Record all her lectures and it will help u tremendously. Memorize the part she tells you to memorize.
Professor carmona KNOWS HER STUFF. Se explains everything in detail and when you ask her something she never goes "um" or has to think about it. However, she is NOT EASY! There is sooooo much material to cover on one test it will really stress you out. Attend lecture every day otherwise you will feel lost.
This was the 1st class in college that i had to work hard for my grade and at the end the A was the best A ever. Carmona is not hard but THERE IS SOOOO MUCH THINGS TO MEMORIZE. d all lectures, take good notes, study everyday and then you will get an A.
Professor Carmona is a very helpful and nice professor. The subject is not easy but Carmona made it enjoyable. I learned a lot, I took 430 & 431 with her. You have to study, if you don't you will fail. She is very knowledgeable so study. Book was not used, her tests are directly off lecture material.
Carmona gives very clear lectures and lab instructions and seems to be able to answer any question a student might have. She's well-liked by most people because she's both intelligent and personable. She makes great use of class time and is helpful and approachable. It's a dense class and she does the best she can to walk us through it.
Took her for 430 its a hard class she wasn't the right fits for me . I thought she didn't explain things very well. I think people out of high school do well, because they have had biology class before. She's goes really fast in lectures if you want to write notes doesn't put what your should write down on power point.
Seriously one of the greatest, yet challenging, Bio professor out there. She's straightforward with her exams, labs, quizzes, etc. Basically, do your work, study, and don't miss class and you'll ace it. It's a tough class but you need this in the future if you're going into the med field so definitely recommend her.
Definitely one of the best professors I have taken at CRC so far. People who give this class a low rating it is because the subject itself is difficult to learn. But her lectures are as understandable and straightforward as it gets. Everything that is on the tests, she explains thoroughly in detail. Lots of work, but very worth it.
This course is very tough. If you don't study you will fail. However Prof. Carmona is a fantastic teacher who makes this subject understandable and applicable. I believe if it wasn't for her teaching this class, I wouldn't have passed. She is well versed in the subject and is frequently there to help you since this course can feel overwhelming.
Carmona is amazing! I love her! This class is no joke and I wouldn't suggest taking many other courses with it. There is a TON of material involved and she's amazing at delivering it but it takes work. Very interesting and she makes it easy to understand. No surprises in grades and no extra credit.
Get a recorder. Prepare questions about LECLAB before next class. Spend time on the LEC slides. LAB requires book for reference when ID'ing models. Make your own Histology slides. Seriously study, even if this means taking this course alone. LAB exams not easy, but I scored between 89-95% each time. LEC exams, 90-95% each time, work hard, get an A
I love Carmona, she's my favorite professor. The class is tough because there's a lot of material to cover, but she explains everything so clearly. You definitely have to take good notes, buy a huge notebook because there's a lot you have to write down. Recording helps too, and make sure you not only memorize the terms but also understand them.
She is an absolutely wonderful teacher who is ahead of other professors in teaching by miles. Her class is one of the most organized I've seen, she clearly knows the material well enough to clearly communicate it, and extremely caring towards her students. I took her for both anatomy and physiology. Personally, I thought both classes were a walk in
I took professor Carmona for Bio 431 during Fall of 2015 (and BIO 430 Fall of 2014), I have to say this class itself is a lot of studying. You have to pretty much know everything that she lectures, that's your study guide. From what I hear, prof. Won at ARC is easier. Do not try to study at the last minute, not possible to know everything.
I didn't get the chance to take her for 430, and she made me wish I did. She is so good at explaining things in lecture in so much detail, she also explains a subject more than once in different ways in case it doesn't click for some. I do recommend recording her lectures and rewriting and going over your notes again if you want an A.
I just took BIO430 with professor Carmona, yes you have to study hard, like any other science class. Record lectures and take notes. Her test are based on everything she lectures from PowerPoint. Best professor ever for science
Carmona is an awesome professor. She's very knowledgeable and her lectures were thorough and easy to understand. Her lecture exams were challenging though. I liked the fact that she separated the lecture and lab exams to be taken on different days. Attendance and Heavy studying is required to pass.
At first when i took her i was on the defensive side, i also underrated this class because it was my major as an undergrad. here i am thinking i could pass it being a mediocre. after couple two tests i awoke from sleep and started recording her lectures. hence forth her lectures made it easy for me to pass her two tests with A's. record lectures
Tamyra is a great professor! Took her for BIO 430 & 431. She is very knowledgable and is always available if you need help. She gives all the info you will need for her tests so record lectures or whatever you need to do. She tests on how well you KNOW the info-be prepared! You will not regret taking her class if you're going into the medical field
This professor is really doing a favor to all the biology major students. I have never seen a professor explain lectures like she does. Record the lectures and listen to them over and over and watch yourself get an A in the class!!!
Professor Carmona is amazing! If youre going into the medical field and want to be prepared then take A&P 1 and 2 with Carmona! She makes you work for your grade, but it only prepares you for whats to come whether it be a nursing program, dental hygienists program, etc. She cares about your success and if you work hard you can get an A
Professor Carmona is a great professor. I recommend printing the powerpoint before class and take notes on them doing lecture. While she does lecture a bit fast at times, she does explain everything very clearly. Although professor says that you need to have the newest edition of the textbook(10th or 11th IRC), I used older edition and it was fine.
She is the one community college professor I still remember by name. One of the best educators Ive ever had. Took a tough concept and made it make sense.
She is an amazing lecturer. But we have to teach ourselves lab. No lab lectures. Lab tests are ALL fill in. Lab exams are mainly fill in as well. ALL Tests use proctorio. She expects you to know a lot but with no support. She has NO empathy for everything being online, and has NOT changed her class/tests to fit students needs! Awful!!
Carmona is THE BEST. Attend her weekly meetings, take detailed notes on lectures, lab is mostly self-study but ask her anything, and she will respond right away. Everything on the exam is fair game. She uses proctorio which I believe will help the student truly. It's a heavy class but have fun with it! Create a study group, and stay focused!
Professor Carmona is a caring, knowledgeable professor. Although she grades harshly, she is very clear with her grading criteria, so it is not a surprise. Everything you need to know is in her lectures, so if you attend/watch her lectures, you can definitely get an A. Her lectures are easy to understand too. She also responds to Q within minutes!
I took bio 430 first time ever, I had to get a W. All her lab exam was fill in the blank. She marks you down on Spelling. Lectures are half fill in the blank and half is multiple choice question. To get a good grade you really have to put in the effort. She has Great lectures, but if you miss up the first time it will be hard to bring up the grade.
I took BIOL 430 and 431 online with Carmona and she made the class really fun and enjoyable from an online environment. The classes are a lot and heavy with information, so get ready to study a lot. Professor Carmona is very accessible outside of class and her lectures are pretty straight forward. Exams are also straight forward as well, no tricks.
Loved Carmona! She is passionate & understanding. Office hours 2-3x a week. Responds fast to emails. Textbook is 100% needed. Lectures & lab ALWAYS material heavy. Don't leave lab early. Start studying EARLY! Exams are 70% fill in blank/FRQ. Use all resources provided and scour the internet for more. Learn to be detail-oriented. Easy to succeed. GL
Professor Carmona is the best!! Honestly, I was quite scared of taking this class because of the amount of material it consists of, which can be overwhelming. However, Professor has made it so manageable. She explains the lecture material very well and she is very approachable during lab. My advice is to study early, make study guides, and ask Qs!!
One of the best and most enthusiastic professors to work with, extremely thorough! Record the lectures and attend the labs! Class is exam heavy to pass. If you fail the first exams you will struggle the rest of the semester. Labs are identify and fill in the blank. Lecture exams are multiple choice, fill in the blank, and short answers.
Whomever stated that Prof.Carmona is caring and knowledgeable provided misleading information. Gambling for raising your grades shouldNOTbe only student option and attending plus visually recording lectures was unsupportive combined with intermixed irrational student viewpoints. I want to ask why are students monitored byProctorio then fail exams?!
There's poor structural organization and unaddressed student learning outcomes after dismissing questions about laboratory exams;lecture based instructional exams consisting of MultipleChoice and fill-in-the-blank questions. Any student asking during office hours and after class would be accused of cheating concerns then asked to leave immediately!
There were disagreements between group members and unprofessional lectures combined with set of rigorous expectations where students must know everything prior to taking exams/quizzes without effective study guides. Paid tutoring must happen, poor supportive learning environment didn't contribute enough assistance on upcoming important examinations!
Best A&P professor I have had! Very understandable and interesting lectures, detailed study guides for the exams/quizzes, and gets back to emails fast. Excellent attitude and made class enjoyable. A&P is a hard & time consuming class as is. If you are not willing to put in the time it will be a lot harder to pass. Utilize office hours!
BiologyA&P 430and431courses withProf.Carmona felt like digging underground for accepting gold rush events and majority of concepts were self-taught by students coming from extensive science major backgrounds. Asking questions and reviewing information with group partners including instructor didn't really help on passing heavy-weighted assignments.
Let me just say that BIOL 430 is a class that is always going to be hard no matter what professor you get. It all depends on how hard you are willing to study and the kind of professor you get. She has amazing lectures and everything makes sense. You need to stay on top of your work or else nothing is gonna turn out well for you.
She is easily one of the best Bio teachers I have ever had. She is very knowledgable and knows what she us talking about. Study early and often and you will be fine. You cannot fall behind so make sure to study. It is not an easy course but if you put it in the time and effort you can succeed. We had 16, 65 point exams total with 4 quizzes, no EC.
Amazing professor, in-depth lectures. EC built into the weekly lecture quizzes, 2 lowest weekly quiz scores dropped. Allocate a lot of time to STUDY! If you fail a lecture exam you will STRUGGLE and have to pass the others with A/B scores to get at least a B for the class. Great at answering questions and emails back quickly!
Carmona is hands down the best professor that I have taken in my 3 years in CRC. A&P is a difficult class to begin with and she makes it easy to understand. Extra credit included with every quiz (2 ec pts. for each of the 8 quizzes) and around 5 ec's for each of the lecture/lab exams. DON'T PROCRASTINATE! Really easy to fall behind if you slack off
Challenging class. 4 lecture and 4 lab exams ( basically determines your grade for class). She has a few homework assignment and lecture quizzes just to make sure your on top of material. She adds extra points in quizzes and exams. Individuals are definitely able to get an A if they study hard. Good luck. Also AMAZING PROFESSOR
She is a very nice but just throws everything out at once. Goes through lecture very fast and expects you to remember things from Chem and Biol 430. So many quizzes, I kid you not I had my first quiz last week, then a clinical quiz today, a cadaver quiz on Monday, another quiz on Wednesday during lecture, and an 100pt lab exam on the same day.
So many quizzes, like one each day and every week! Both lecture and lab exams are basically short answer exams. You have to also basically teach yourself in this class. The lecture slides also don't help because the quiz and exam questions come from what she verbally lectures during class. If you fail the exams, you fail the class. Don't recommend
Don't recommend! Lecture heavy! Exam and quiz heavy! There are sometimes two quizzes the same day! The quiz questions also come from what she verbally lectures, not what is on the PPT slides. The exams/quizzes are basically short answer questions, except for a couple of true/false and multiple choice questions that aren't worth much.
This course does contain a lot of material but Professor Carmona is passionate, personable, and cares about her student's success. Her class is well organized and labs are designed for students to study/work on what they need while she provides her undivided attention and assistance the entire length of class. I highly recommend her!
BIO 430 is a difficult class, but Tamyra is an amazing professor. She is straightforward in her lectures, with expectations, and what's upcoming. She is also very understanding and makes sure students are understanding material. Her teaching style and class format forces you to build good study habits. She grades tough but don't let that deter you.
I have never had such a horrible teacher, tries to stuff so much information into one lecture/Lab day when it was a whole semester, were not even going as fast she is going in my summer class right now. Idk what she was on at 8am, but horrible.
Take this class if you want to do well in life. There is HOURSSSS of studying but it pays off in the end and is definitely worth it. I recommend 10/10, especially if your looking into nursing. She is so sweet and cares about her students and makes her classroom a safe place for everyone! I never thought would enjoy biology but I loved her class!
Professor Carmona was one of the best professors I had while being in community college. He lectures were amazing and whenever anything didn't make sense she would go over it with you and help explain it to you. The tests are challenging but if you study you will be okay. This is a stem class so be prepared to work! She also grades very fast!
This is anatomy so it's always going to be difficult however she makes it so much easier than it should be with her great lectures She also responds to every question and tries to make it as easy as possible for you. The only complaint I have is the clinical quizzes just don't have enough instructions to make sure you're studying the correct things
Professor Carmona was one of the best professors I've had. Her lectures make difficult anatomy and physiology concepts easier to understand. There are a lot of quizzes, but they are not worth much compared to tests. They help you keep up with studying so you are better prepared for the tests. Most importantly she is kind and always happy to help!
One of the best professors I've ever met in my academic life since now. I am so honored to be one of her students in BIO 430 & 431, If you know how to study for, you'll definitely get an A. She is a tough grader, and great illustrator. she is great in explanation. the way she gives the lectures students are expected to study hard for EXAMS.
An amazing professor! Took her for bio 430 and 431. Incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and made the material easy (to an extent) to understand. Study and you'll be fine. I'm not a strong student in any way, but I passed with a B.
Professor Carmona is truly one of the best instructors I've ever had. As an immigrant and English language learner, I was nervous about starting this class, but the professor made the material easy to understand. She genuinely cares about student success. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants a positive and inspiring learning experience.
I tried working with her due to a preplanned trip, but she was completely unwilling to be flexible. Despite reaching out ahead of time, she showed no grace or understanding. She wasn't personable or open to discussion—it felt like she couldn't see beyond the rigid structure of her course.
This is a hard class, no matter who you take. However, Professor Carmona tries her hardest to make sure you stay engaged with the material. As long as you try your best and spend time studying, you will pass this class. However, if she added more connections to real-world healthcare, it could be more interesting to learn. Great professor overall.
Took Professor Carmona for both 430 & 431-HIGHLY recommend. She knows her stuff and passes on that knowledge. Yes-this class requires you to read, complete hw, & STUDY. Put that extra time in to understand topics that are tricky and reach out to her if you need additional help. She wants everyone to succeed but you have to want it too.
Would 100% recommend Professor Carmona. I admit the class itself requires a lot of studying, but if you need help she is very quick to respond via email and has office hours. I took her for both 430 and 431. Listening to lecture recordings as a way of studying is helpful, but also join a study group!
Professor Carmona is one of the best professors I ever had. She teaches very well and is easy to learn from. She gives you a schedule at the beginning of the semester so you know what's coming; there are no surprises. Obviously this is a tough course, so always show up and spend lab time well. Only a few wet labs. Recording lectures helped a lot.
Professor Carmona is great. If you go to lecture and use lab time well, an A is achievable. The lab portion of the class is just time to look over new anatomy talked about in the lecture. Then you can review lecture or lab, or just ask professor about anything. Record lectures and listen to them! Substitute them for music. That's my biggest tip.
Prof Carmona is one of the best professors I've taken at CRC for Bio 430 & 431. She is passionate about what she teaches. Her class is well-structured, organized, and follows the syllabus. Be prepared to record her lectures b/c 90% of the exams are based off of her verbal lectures. Overall, put in the work and dedication and you'll pass the class.
