Can only miss 2 classes before grade drops
his tests are hard, but he is the best teacher i've ever had
He is a very good teacher, test review is very similar to the actual test
STAY AWAY!! The test reviews have nothing to do with test!! Stay away!!
worst teacher ever!! This guy will not help you...dont take him for your own good!
Dr. Lee IS helpful if you just ask him for help. Always willing to give a second explanation when class doesn't understand. His tests are hard but manageable if you put in the study time. The best math teacher I've had at UA!
Maybe it was all the hype I've always heard about Dr. Lee that caused me to have unreal expectations, but needless to say, I wasn't too impressed. I mean, he's an excellent teacher, but I was expecting to be wowed. Anways, his tests are really just like the quizzes and his attendance policy is a bit draconian but you need to attend this class. B.
Dr. Lee is an amazing teacher. He has made Cal 3 easier than Cal 2 for me. He does an exceptional job of explaining rather tough material. He basically makes you stay caught up by giving frequent quizzes, but they are more helpful than anything else because they let you know if you are understanding the material. Take him if you can!
He made Cal 2 as painless as possible. He's the best math teacher I have had.
Cannot miss more than 2 days of class or you receive an F regardless of your previous grade. Reviews have little or no relevance to the test
Extremely good calc teacher. I took cal in high school, but Dr. Lee still found stuff to teach me. He's a little tough, but a very flexible grader. The people who didn't do well were the ones that didn't make any effort at all. He's Asian, but his English is VERY GOOD. Take him if you can.
Dr. Lee is a GREAT teacher! Although he is Taiwanese, he speaks very good English and the language barrier is a non-issue. He obviously knows his stuff, and does a very good job of conveying his knowledge to his class. He is hands down the best math teacher I've ever had!
very fast pace teacher, does 2 sections in one day and expect to do the same section online in homework at nite(somewhere b/t 60-100 probs). very hard tests. youll learn alot but youll be lucky to get a C. take som1 else youve been warned!!!!!!!!!
He is a terrible teacher. If you try to get help outside of class he just confuses you even more. He is a terrible teacher and you should not take him!!
This guy is not a good teacher. All he does is work problems from the book without ever explaining the concepts. He is the laziest professor I've ever had. He does not give you a practice review to get ready for a test. His final was ridiculous, much harder than previous tests. There are much better professors in the math department.
This guy is horrible avoid him at all cost. Even if you are ridiculously good at math, you are still going to have to put forth a lot more effort for him than you would almost any other professor. I took him last semester and got a D, this semester I have an A+ in another guy's class. O and attendance is mandatory and he gives a vast amount of hmwk
Tan Yu Lee is a great teacher! He will work with you if you let him. Homework is on webassign, one assignment every 2-4 days, but you learn and remember the material well! He's fun too, just our discussions and his jokes are great! You will have to work in this class some... but it is calculus - I'd recommend him to anyone!
this guy is ridiculous. i took calculus in highschool and got an A, this guy cannot teach. he has no abillity to explain things. his test review has nothing to do with the test and he moves WAY to fast. stay away!!!!
This guy is funny, and he actually makes an effort to ensure that you know the material. That said, he's a tad strict, but I wish he had taught 126 as well.
Does not test what he teaches and prepares you for. !!!!BEWARE of what he does not cover!!!!! Avoid-
Dr. Lee is a great teacher. If you are looking to actually understand the material he is for you. If you are looking to just pass a math class you might want to switch sections. Dr.Lee really cares about his students and how they are doing. Goes through the trouble to remember everyone's name for a college class. Impressive. Great Teacher. Take him
Dr. Lee is by far my best math teacher. He loves use examples in real world applications to the material you are covering. He always tries to teach new material with relations to what you have previously learned. He was intimating on the first day but you realize that he is very smart and a dorky sense of humor. Do the homework and you'll do great.
He's AWESOME! I have gotten C's and low B's in all my college math classes, until Dr. Lee. He is the greatest math teacher ever. His lessons are very organized and he has goofy ways to help you learn things. Take him for any class you can!
Good teacher, gives good real world examples which I liked. no real communication problems. Can at times give a significant amount of homework. The final was a little bit ridiculous and he doesn't give you enough time to take the tests or final. Class seems easy in the beginning but it becomes very hard by the end.
Do not take if you are not very very smart and learn well on your own.
He is very clear on what he wants. Just go to class and you will do fine. Plus you get bonus points on each test and the final for perfect attendance.
Love Dr. Lee. He's hilarious. He's the most helpful professor I've ever had. He will give tons of EC towards the end of the semester. Attendance is his most important goal for you.
Gives tons of extra credit. He's really nice and his tests aren't too difficult. Literally, show up to class and you are guaranteed a B.
Awesome teacher. Made Diff Eq fun. Best math teacher I have ever had. Tells funny jokes. Will help you with anything at any time.
He really, genuinely cares about his students and wants them to do well. He has a dorky sense of humor and is understanding and willing to work with you on any problems you have. Class isn't easy, but do the work and you'll do well. Tests are reasonable and cover the most important things; he doesn't try to trick you. Definitely recommend!
He is hard but if you attend class and put effort into the class he will be more than happy to help. He is hillarious! He gives ALOT of extra credit even though at first he says he won't. All in all he was one of the best professors I have had and you will definitely come out of Cal III with a complete understanding of the material. GREAT TEACHER!
I love General Lee! He won't let his troops die in battle. Did a great job at going back and explaining the basics that most people had probably forgotten. Also teaches random chinese for fun. Tan Yu Lee: so wise.
Good professor. Does his best to make sure you are paying attention and wants his students to do well. He will help you all you need. Sometimes, his notes are hard to follow because they are all over the place (this could have been because of a new computerized note system) and he is not the easiest. If you work hard, you will understand Calculus.
general lee was the best teacher i have ever had. I struggled all semester but he helped out so much. he made sure during class i understood everything and would meet with me during his office hours. His class was hard but i would not have made it through with out him. he is also one funny man. he truly cares about everyone too.
Dr Lee was one of my best professors this semester. He is extremely helpful in answering questions in class. On top of that, he gives you 10 points bonus on every test IF you go to class. He can be a little hard to follow at times. Overall it lets face it, calculus level maths can be pretty difficult stuff to swallow. Overall a great professor who genuinely cares about your well being as a student and a human being.
Gives online test, which are good and bad. The good: Tests are similar to homework. Gives 10 points bonus points per test. The bad: No partial credit, one mistake during the process and your answer is wrong.
Of course this class is not a breeze since it is Cal 3 but Dr.Lee does his best to help you out. He uses online format so quizzes,hw and exams are online. I advise you to do your best on the quizzes and hw because even though the exams resemble those they are still pretty hard. He gives bonus pts on every exam if you come to class. He is great.
Great professor. Does his best to help you out. Tries to make class interesting but I never learned much from attending class. Tests are online in Lloyd,he allows you to use wolfram alpha which is huge. Also gives 10 bonus points for attending class. Saying that the class is still pretty tough though. I'd highly recommend taking him for this class.
You may as well chuck the syllabus out the window for this class, because he goes back on almost everything he says at the beginning of the semester and also moves homework due dates up without telling you. Tests are 20 questions, final was 65. Class was useless. Funny guy and will notice if you're not in class, but he is a useless teacher.
TERRIBLE. he is awful, he would answer questions on the board wrong then laugh about it and move on. He is an idiot. He did not help me at all. I went to every class, tutoring, etc. and he would not round my 69.6 to a 70 so I could get credit. STAY AWAY!!!
Dr. Lee is one of the best and most caring profs at this unveristy. All he wants is for you to try and come to class and he will do his best to help you get a good grade. His tests HEAVILY resemble the quizes so pay close attention to them and you should ace his tests if you can work them out without memorization even though some are exact same.
Dr. Lee is a great professor but this is a very self taught class. He tries his best to explain the course work but he is extremely hard to follow. He cares a lot about his class and wants what is best for you, but be prepared to teach yourself the material. Attendance is taken seriously.
Not a good class at all, especially if you are a math major like me. He does not teach; he just shows examples. I still got an A, but it's not like I learned anything, I'm just good at getting good grades. If you are like me - savvy at knowing what the professor wants you will get a good grade. But at the end, you won't learn much.
He's a pretty mediocre teacher. I got an A, but I asked a mentor of mine for a book in differential equations to work through over the summer because I honestly feel like I've learned nothing with Dr. Lee. He gives really poor explanations of things, and has very wrong emphasis/time-management of the material.
Genuinely cares about his students, and that they understand the material. Gives plenty of bonus points! Best teacher I've had in a long time.
His lectures are all over the place. He never fully works through any problem. He offers life advice and is sarcastic and condescending. He does not teach the material. If you have not taken Calculus before, do not take his course. STAY AWAY.
Very solid explanations throughout class but sometimes he goes on a tangent. He has good ways to remember methods. Sometimes he should slow down when things could get confusing.
Cares about his students, the tests aren't hard, and there are enough easy points to keep a good grade. However, sometimes his lectures can be difficult to follow.
He's a good guy and teaches fairly well, but I would not reccomend him to anyone who has not taken calculus before.
As a person, he is fantastic, funny and great entertainment and is always willing to help students if they ask. However, he jumps around a lot in lectures and sometimes is difficult to follow if you haven't taken calc before. If you show up to class you have the opportunity to earn extra credit on exams. He is very friendly and approachable.
He definitely knows the material but has a hard time teaching it. His lectures are anything but straight forward. He goes off on tangents about life stories and ends up not teaching a whole lot. Asking for help is practically useless. However, he cares about his students a lot.
I have never taken calculus before, and I'm not strong in math, but he takes an interesting approach to teaching the material. It's somewhat self-taught, but I think it's pretty typical of what you should expect of a college level course. If you work at it, you'll get an A.
He teaches the lectures differently than most teachers, but he cares about his students passing and succeeding in his class. It is best, though, to understand the basics of calculus before taking this class.
Dr. Lee is a boss. Has fun in class, and genuinely cares for his students. He can be somewhat confusing at times, but if you ask he will clarify. Gives plenty of bonus options and wants you to do well.
Doesn't use class time in the most efficient way.
Great guy but always has lectures that are confusing. You teach yourself most of the material. He is always availabe for help. Lots of Bonus!
Pretty good teacher. Wants students to succeed. At first class is hard to learn but after practicing hw the lectures are more helpful if hw is done before class.
The class is easy if you already know Calculus. Dr. Lee is nice and gives plenty of bonus points, but you might have a hard time if you've never had Calculus because lessons are not really taught, the class mainly consists of example problems being done- sometimes not in the most helpful way.
Dr. Lee is a good teacher but hard to understand sometimes. If you took calculus before, you will have no problem. He is willing to help you outside of class.
most of his lectures are very scattered. He really cares about the success of his students but he doesn't really go about it efficiently or effectively. You really have to pay attention and some self-teaching is required. Stay away if you can't handle that type of learning.
General Lee is a good professor and knows what hes talking about, however if you haven't taken calculus before be aware that he spends more time teaching applications of the math used instead of how to actually do it.
I took calculus in high school and thought I would retake it just to brush up on the subject and solidify my understanding. I think Dr. Lee does a pretty good job explaining things and he certainly knows what he is talking about. It may be a bit hard for first time calculus students because he moves quickly through the material. Overall pretty good
I really enjoy his teaching style. It is very structured and clear. If I got the chance I would take his classes again.
Lectures are less structured than I'd like. In the beginning of the year we even spent a while learning Mandarin and the first 30 digits of e. I've taken calculus before but would have been so did well, but would have been completely lost without it. on the bright side he does post practice tests before each test.
Dr. Lee is a good teacher to take if you have taken Calculus before, he goes through the basics of how and why you do certain math problems. He goes through problems in class, but you have to be on top of your game to know what's going on. His class also allowed me to become less calculator dependant.
Teacher cares very much about his students.
Homework was good review. Sometimes hard to follow along during class.
Very helpful but you have to pay attention in class and actually do the homework.
Dr. Lees class is easy if you've taken calculus before. I have really enjoyed his class, and I actually look forward to coming to his class.
Nice but hard to understand
Great teacher for students who have had calc before. Loves his job
Great teacher, methods are different but keep you engaged. Lame jokes are also an everyday occurrence but receive a chuckle. Lots of extra credit offered!! Very clear and concise with what is expected of his students and very fair with grades and understanding with situations. Attend class, do homework and go for extra credit and you'll be fine
Can be pretty funny. Nice, wise guy. Sometimes confusing
I feel as though if I hadn't taken calc 1 in high school I would be struggling in this class. The practice tests are always helpful before the test. Attendance is mandatory although it shouldn't be because for most people this is a review.
Very helpful, easy if you have calculus experience but can be difficult at times if not. However an A is definitely manageable if you go to class and do your work.
He really cares for his students, so if you ask for help, you will get it. The online tests are hard though since there is no partial credit and limited time for the amount of questions.
You pick up his accent after the first week and e becomes easy to understand. He gives plenty of opportunities to get extra credit for your work. Learned more from him than my high school AB Calc teacher
You can make an A in this class but if you havent taken calculus before you will be lost often.
If you took calculus in high school then this class should be easy. I hadn't taken calculus until this class college and I quickly became confused. There's a lot of bonus points and if you see a tutor you should do well.
OK Professor. Difficult to understand and moves pretty quickly. He often strays from the topic to talk about personal stories (irrelevant from class). Helpful with tests and retakes, but this class requires LOTS of at home work and little in class work. Plan to learn Calc 1 at home.
good teacher. Willing to help at any time. I wish he could go over the homework more thoroughly
Overall average teacher nothing to extraordinary. He does not have a very structured lecture. Does not really teach the material that well. Goes through it very quickly. If you have taken Calculus before you will be fine. If not you will be lost. Sometimes waste time learning things that are not math related.
Really cares about students but much of the class is self-taught
Very interesting.class
He is a good teacher. He explains things well
Dr Lee is willing to work with his students to make it easier on them by offering extra credit and allowingb multiple attempts for online tests. He sometimes gets off topic in class but is overall a good teacher
Good teacher. Also makes class fun to be in by telling jokes. If I could, I would get him for all my math
He is very structured when it comes to the lectures and hw. He is very clear when speaking and does well with the basics of math.
He's a pretty good teacher. I think he could do a better job at actually teaching instead of the students learning on their own. But when he does teach, he's very good. If you take his class, you need to be able to understand and comprehend the textbook well.
He is a good teacher. He may go off on tangents at times (no pun intended) but he always has the student's best interest at heart.
I took Dr. Lee for both precal this summer and now for calculus. He is a very caring professor. He is funny an tries to push you in the right direction. He is always willing to talk to you about questions you have. Great teacher who is not easy but more than willing to talk to you about problems you are having.
Great teacher. Sometimes you get lost in the class if you don't pay close attention. He is very indepth in what he covers, but be sure to learn the work or else the homework will be dofficult. He gives you a lot of helpful prep for his tests.
This professor has a good enough understanding of his field and his lectures are occasionally engaging and humorous.
Goes on tangents too much telling stories instead of covering some material. When he covers the material sometimes he doesn't finish a problem and assumes you know it.
He is a good teacher and gives lots of bonus opportunities to help you out! As long as you do the online homework and come to class you will do fine.
Dr. Lee is a very compelling speaker. His class is not incredibly easy, but he is by far one of the best in the dept. If I had to do it over again, I would still take him.
You must have already taken Calculus or seek outside help to do well in this class
Great professor, very easy class, also very humerous
He does not explain everything in detail. You have to pretty much teach yourself some things.
Dr. Lee is funny and makes things interesting. He offers help if you need it and it a great guy.
Handsome guy, really friendly. He genuinely cares about his students and goes out of his way to teach us life lessons. He is the king of bad puns and is wicked hilarious. When it comes to math he's alright, basically just goes over the homework the whole time. Sometimes he's confusing. He's not an awful teacher but definitely not the best.
Difficult to understand, has very easy homework but significantly harder tests, spends too much time not discussing the material, jumps around and is difficult to follow. Doesn't always finish a problem he starts to work on, and often doesn't finish sentences. Is generous with bonus points and seems genuinely interested in his students' success.
Works as hard to meet everyone half way. I have never been turned away for help being emails, office meetings, or just after class. The class is hard and he tries to make if easier to understand than some other professors, even with a heavy Chinese accent.
Dr. Lee is very passionate about helping his students to succeed & enjoy coming to class, however his teaching style is not always clear. It is easy to get lost if you are not already familiar with the topics. THe homework is very overwhelming and difficult. It is also very difficult to get help on the homework or topics that you dont understand.
Dr. Lee is a great calculus teacher. I had not even taken pre calculus prior to this class and I have an A+. If you're willing to put in the study time, you will do fine.
He is hilarious. Great man. Can be confusing at times, but overall pretty good.
Pretty good teacher. Someyimes strays from topic at hand. Very helpful when ask for help one on one as well as with bonuses for test and honework. If you pay attention, follow up with homework and powerpoints and the book, should be fine
He's humorous in class. So the atmosphere always be interesting
nice teacher, full of bounce credits.
a kind teacher
Confusing, goes on tangents, difficult to understand.
Very nice person, but a very difficult teacher to understand or learn from. Taking this class mostly entails teaching yourself the material,
Great guy, interesting stories, but not a very good teacher.
Tan yu is a good teacher who tries hard, sometimes it is just difficult to understand the point he is trying to get across.
Dr Lee is always very happy to help, but he sometimes gets excited, starts talking too quickly, and can be difficult to understand. Always a fun class, but not always one in which we learn a lot.
This professor is humerous at times. He goes off talking about something else in the middle of a lecture. When he goes over a problem he stops just before the end and expects you to have figured it out. His notes are nearly impossible to decipher if you weren't in class that day. He knows his material.
Dr. Lee is a very nice teacher, eager to help. In class we go over a lot of homework problems but not as many examples problems. This is good for homework, but sometimes it feels that we need more examples than just homework! Tests are much easier when he gives us the online practice test!
tan-yu lee is a good professor. he is good about making things easy to understand.
Dr. Lee is a great professor. This is my second time taking his class and I plan on taking him again for calculus II. Be sure to go to class and take good notes or you will make it more difficult on yourself. Tests are a lot easier when you have a practice test before hand. Don't waste your money buying the textbook though, you won't use it.
Dr. Lee is a great teacher, and he knows what he is talking about. I recommend taking his class if you already have a background in calculus. The practice exams help a lot. Dr. Lee is always willing to help, but only if you are willing to learn.
Dr. Lee is a pretty good teacher. He really care about his classes and wants them to understand the material. I'd say I've overall been happy in the class.
He seems smart but hes hard to understand and his class lacks structure that a math class should have
He's a real nice guy that teaches the material, but he is not always super clear. He genuinely wants to help you out, but he wastes a good bit of class time. Overall he is a good professor.
Overall, the class isn't too difficult. If you have some prior knowledge of calculus it shouldn't be too hard at all. He likes to give advice at the beginning of class and teach you some Chinese symbols which is always fun. Sometimes you'll have to learn some of the stuff by yourself but he is pretty easy to understand usually
Great professor! A great class especially if you have had calc before, however still great even if you haven't!
Professor Tan Yu Lee clearly knows the material very well but is not very good at explaining it. He tries to teach the theory behind it and everything becomes overcomplicated. He is very amusing but I would not recommend him to someone who has no background knowledge in calculus
He will stay on a problem till you understand it and help you through it. He also will tell memorable stories and jokes to help you remember the information.
Hate calc and still suck at it, willing to help if you try. Cares a lot about students. Sometimes confusing, depends on the topic. Some thjngs I couldn't learn from anyone else but got from him, and some things I was even more confused afterwards.
He is an extremely nice professor with lots of care for his students. He lately teaches by examples, and the homework is not too difficult. Occasionally it is difficult to learn in the class because he doesn't articulate specifics very well.
Dr. Lee relies on teaching those with a pretty strong math background. I took Calc 1 in high school with an A and still have found certain things confusing. But his homework grades and bonus opportunities are good throughout. Studying is something you should plan on doing every now and then, depending on how well you perform in math in general.
Sometimes his explanations are lengthy and confusing, but he reviews topics over and over so as long as you pay attention it's pretty straightforward. Hw is on web assign which is nice because you have multiple tries and practice problems. Tests are on web assign too and sometimes you get 2 tries as well. He gives you plenty of time to do the hw
Tan Yu-Lee is very helpful if you seek his help outside of class or ask him to work specific problems but his classes are pretty boring and disordered. I do well on the homework and tests but I do not actually learn the material.
Tan Yu-Lee is very helpful if you seek his help outside of class or ask him to work specific problems but his classes are pretty boring and disordered. I do well on the homework and tests but I do not actually learn the material. He cares about his students and their grades but you have to seek his help.
Dr.Lee is an extremely nice guy and he always tells jokes in class to keep it interesting. However, in order to do well in his class without teaching yourself most of the material, you will need to know Calculus 1. If you do not have any prior knowledge of Calculus, the class will most likely be very difficult.
He is really nice and he tries really hard, but he is really confusing. He explains things in a round about way. You can tell how much he cares about the students though. Also, homework and tests are online with multiple tries which is awesome with a course like calculus.
Tan Yu is a teacher in the true sense of the word. He doesn't just read power points, and he is legitimately concerned with how you are doing in the class. That being said, he's not the best at going straight beginning to end in an example, sometimes going off an tangents that can make you scratch your head.
Professor Lee certainly knows his material, almost too well. He will try and explain theory to the problems but it ends up being more confusing, or he says that lots of things should be obvious. Concepts are taught more case by case than in general. Think carefully about taking this course if you've never had calc experience.
Dr. Lee is very helpful. He's always willing to help people who have trouble with the material. At the same time, he expects you to put forth the effort it takes to make sure you know what you're doing. Lots of times for me it's hard to follow his lectures. My calculus last year finished a little over half of what we're covering this semester.
Dr. Lee is so funny and really sweet and cares a lot about his students. His class is not difficult if you have taken calculus before, but without prior knowledge it would be very difficult. He knows what he is talking about, just isn't very good at showing the easiest and most efficient way to do the problems. But, love his jokes and stories!
Dr. Lee truly cares about his students. He is very approachable, and he keeps the lectures light-hearted. He encourages students to ask questions. I would recommend taking this class to those who have a previous background with calculus!
I thought Dr. Lee was a good professor. Many times I got lost in his explanations and had to reteach myself a lot of the material, but I always seemed to be able to figure it out.
Tan Yu checks attendance, and makes you do homework so the class is not a piece of cake. That being said, Tan Yu is really helpful and will go over homework and practice test in class. The test is also material all covered in class.
Very helpful, and gives a lot of bonus opportunities.
Dr. Lee is a wonderful professor. Any time I would have a question he would answer it in a kind fashion and wouldn't ever talk down to me. I always feel welcome and he has a positive attitude towards teaching and wants all of his students to succeed to the best of their abilities! He really helped me understand the material.
For the first couple weeks the class is funny and easy. It gets challenging, but if you ask questions about whatever you don't understand, he will help you.
Very nice, makes the class interesting. Prone to off-topic tangents, but it doesn't detract from the learning experience. Frequently leave class feeling like things make more sense than they did prior to class.
Pay attention and do your homework early and you'll be fine. If you have any questions, he does a good job of helping you.
Dr. Lee is an excellent person and means well, but he is not the best teacher. He is good at keeping class lighthearted and showing that he cares about his students, but he does not convey difficult topics well. More than half of the examples he works are done wrong and students have to correct him. Great guy. Not great at getting his points across
Tan-Yu is a pretty cool guy. Sometimes his notes are hard to follow, but he goes over everything multiple times.
Dr. Lee is a nice guy, and keeps class interesting with his cool stories. He is a good teacher for calculus if you have taken it before. He goes over a lot of proofs. This class has helped me to become less calculator dependent. Overall taking his class teaches you the basics of calculus.
He is a really nice teacher and really wants you to do well, but I wish we would go over some different examples rather than just reviewing the homework problems many of us have already done the night before. If we did a few more sample problems while we are learning each concept, I think I would grasp the information a lot better.
An adorable asian man that you will either find entertaining or annoying, depends on your humor.I found him to be helpeful and cheesy funny. You cant go into his class thinking you are going to be baby fed, this is college you know.If you havent taken Calculus before, find someone who did, no matter who teaches you, a different perspective is helpful
Dr. Lee is a good professor, calculus is a pain class and although his teaching style may not fit some students and he may not be clear 100% of the time one thing is for sure he cares about the students and actually cares about your grade and if you pass or not rather than most professors not caring. He'll do what he can for you to pass his class
I had already taken calc coming into this course so I had a baseline to start from. He definitely teaches from a different perspective than I am used to, but it helped me to better understand the things I already knew how to do. If you go to class and actually try to follow the lectures, his teaching style really makes sense.
Dr. Lee is a pretty good professor. He keeps you interested with his funny stories and he gives lots of bonus points. His notes do get hard to read and understand at some times if you aren't listening. His tests aren't that hard. Mostly the same material covered in class and their mostly online with multiple tries.
General Lee is a good teacher. He goes over the homework. I'm glad I took calculus before though.
Relatively easy class if you've had calculus before. Dr. Lee is hit if miss with help most of the time
All the material on the tests is covered through homework or in class. He answers questions over the homework in class too, which is helpful. His notes are a little confusing to follow with more ideas than examples, but it's easy to make an "A" in the course.
Great teacher, but honestly give me a challenge. This class is too easy
Good man. Good teacher.
Great teacher. You get the grade you work for
Taking calculus before makes this class relatively easy. He goes over the homework in class and gives you examples that are helpful. GO TO CLASS. It's not mandatory, but examples and things said in class are sometimes on tests. Also the pretest homework is just like the tests. Try on the homework and go to class and you're fine
You have to work for your grade and learn most of it on your own. He's a little hard to follow sometimes.
Relatively easy class. Dr. Lee is a fair teacher and gets his point across, but is hard to follow. I learn on my own in this course, but I guess hat helps me learn better in the long run. He cares about his students, I just prefer to learn on my own.
Dr. Lee is a very enthusiastic teacher, especially for Calculus. Unfortunately,he doesn't do a great job of explaining why and how concepts apply to the chapter. I found myself having to read the math textbook to get a better understanding of the course and its material. The lectures are basic and dont cover the complexity of the hw or the tests.
Dr. Lee, is a fantastic guy with a really big heart. He absolutely loves math and especially calculus. Unfortunately, he doesn't explain concepts in the most effective way if you haven't taken calculus yet.
He sometimes goes on TANgents.
Cares a lot about his students. Ask plenty of questions.
Homework is super easy. Test are just like homework problems. As long as you pay attention in class, understand the homework, and don't let him catch you skipping more than twice, you should be good. I would recommend having taken Cal 1 in highschool already.
Need to have taken Cal 1 in highschool. Tan is a great man and really funny but he is hard to follow. I still recomend.
Tan Yu Lee is a very nice man with a really easy class. Would recommend.
He is a really nice man and cares about his students, but I did not take Calculus in high school and I am struggling in his class.
Dr. Lee is not a good teacher. I do not recommend him for calculus 1 at all. I have taken calculus before at a different college and I'm still struggling. He doesn't teach. His tests are always hard. Do not take him.
Dr. Lee is not very clear, but if you can teach yourself, this is a relatively easy class. You get a decent amount of bonus, but be prepared to figure stuff out on your own. If you can, the class is not hard. If not, I recommend finding another teacher.
The derivative of tanu makes you sec^2u (sick twice). ;) He's a wonderful teacher, go ask him questions! You're gonna have to learn the material to pass. I'd recommend him for all the calculus classes and diff eq.
I was in the 9 am class for Spring 2014. Class is pretty easy to begin with but gets much harder as you progress. Great teacher though.
I am in 9AM calculus 2 class. Dr. Lee is a good teacher and really wants students to do well. All the test material is covered through the homework.
I was in the 10:00 class MTWR. While his class can be hard if you don't pay attention, good grades are given to those that actually put forth effort and complete the assignments.
Tan Yu was a great teacher, he honestly cares for his students which is rare in education today. he also explains pretty well most of the time - 10am class.
I was in the 10am Calc 2 class and Dr. Lee was a very good teacher. He really wants his students to do good and also learn the material. He will help you but you have to be willing to ask questions.
I am in his 10 am class. Very nice. Attendance is only mandatory if you want bonus points for his tests. His tests are very fair based on the hw he assigns.
I am in his 10 am calc 2 class. At first, his class was extremely difficult, but by the end of the year he gave enough help to motivate you to do your best. Not only did he teach about math, but he taught important life lessons to further yourself outside of the class.
I was in his 9 AM class. The last half of the class is more difficult than the start, but having a good teacher for it helped. He really cared about his students doing well. If i had to take Cal 2 again, I would take it from Tan-Yu.
I am in his 10 am math 126 class. Material is hard but he has been fair to help get our grades to not be failing. enjoyed the class but it is challenging.
I'm in his 11:00 honors calc 2 class. He's a really nice guy, but it's sometimes hard to understand him and follow what he's doing. However, he gives enough extra help and bonus that the class isn't too hard.
good guy but the class is hard. In the 10 AM cal 2 class. He has been very fair getting bonus so people dont fail.
I was in his Honors 11am class 146-002. He always tried to help the students the best he could. However sometimes he was redundant in class or moved too fast. He would go over a problem from the day before and you daze out, then next thing you know you missed an important detail. When he did his review sheets with formulas it helped alot.
I was in his 11am class.Pretty decent teacher. Attendance is mandatory for bonus points. He wants his students to succeed. But sometimes he doesn't explain what is going on very well.
I'm in his 11AM Calc2 class. He offers many opportunities to receive bonus points. Almost everyone has an A or B. He cares a lot about his students even if his teaching can be jumbled at times. He gives review guides that are so helpful. Overall a great person and an okay teacher
Dr. Lee was a great professor for my Calculus II course! He gives you just the right amount of "push" for learning techniques in class, but do expect to do most of your learning independently. He provides plenty of bonus and makes sure that you have every opportunity to bring your grade up after a poor test.
10am class Spring 2014. Tan-Yu Lee teaches all of the topics he tests on and explains some homework topics. The homework can be difficult, but he is often available in office hours.
Dr. Lee is a great teacher. I had him at 10 AM Monday-Thursday and he was always in a good mood. Go to class, do online homework, and study, you should be fine. Great, great person.
I am in Dr. Lee's 9am Math 126 class. Dr. Lee is a very helpful professor who is always willing to help students who want to help themselves. In class the material seems difficult, but if you take the time to go to his office hours he helps you understand everything. If you can work the homework then you can pass the tests. Good teacher.
I took Dr. Lee last semester for Cal I and, because I enjoyed his class so much, I took his 11am Cal II class. He is very friendly and answers any question you ask. If you go to class and pay attention, you will be just fine.
10-am class. I had Tan Yu for two semesters in a row. He is a wonderful teacher and is incredibly fair. He is also rather humorous at times during class. I definitely recommend having him as a professor.
10am Class-Spring 2014. I have had Dr. Lee for two semesters in a row now. He is a wonderful teacher with even better teaching skills. He is incredibly helpful and can be humorous at times during class. I definitely recommend taking this Professor.
I am in Dr. Lee's 10 am Calc 2 class. He is a good person, but can lack explanation when teaching. He gives bonus questions on basic information in order to make sure you understand it. If you come to class and do the online homework, everything will work out.
I am Dr. Lee's 10 am class and this is my second semester with him. I really enjoy his teaching style because he explains the background of the problem and then shows us an easier way to get to the answer. I have loved having him as a teacher. The material is difficult as it is and he tries to make it as simple as possible for us to understand.
Tan-Yu Lee is a good professor, although the class might not be an easy "A" due to the content of the material of Calculus 2, it is not because Tan-Yu isn't a great professor. I I feel like I am leaving this class a better person and very knowledgeable in life lessons.
Tan Yu is a great teacher. Attendance is very important to fully understand the material. I would recommend him to all because he really tries to teach each and every student as long as you put forth a strong effort.
Hard to understand, writes in cursive, hard online tests, hard and long homeworks. Lots of bonus points if you can figure out how to do the math.
I'm in Dr. Lee's 11am class this semester and Dr. Lee was always very open and approachable either after class or during his office hours. He is passionate about making sure students understand the material rather than cram for just passing. Attendance is not required but is important. As a note, don't but the textbook. All the work is online.
Don't buy the book, you don't use it. Homework and tests on Webassign. If you can figure out the math on your own you'll be fine. He sometimes goes over example probs but never actually finishes any & will start new ones mid other problems. Lots of bonus if you go to class, pay attention, & do homework early
Tan-Yu Lee was a great teacher, but not really my learning style. It is not an easy A, but the grade the received is definitely what you earned. I did learn a lot of life lessons and not to give an asian man a green hat. The material was difficult to learn and I think had I put more effort in the course, I would have received a better grade.
Tan Yu Lee is not a good math professor. He would be better suited teaching a life lessons class because that's about all we learned this semester. The way he teaches is hard to follow, he jumps all over the place the whole time. He would start examples and never finish them. The tests were too long for the given amount of time. Do not take him.
I am in Dr. Lee's 11am 146-002 class, and I love him! I had him last semester for Calc I and really wanted him again for Calc II. Attendance is definitely required and you will get a good amount of bonus if you attend regularly. Sometimes he can be a little hard to follow but you can always ask him questions after class or at office hours!
I am in Tan-Yu Lee's 10 am 126-002 class. He is a sweet man who is willing to help anyone. He tells funny jokes and always has a great attitude. There are several opportunities for bonus points and attendance is mandatory. The material is tough & his teaching is a bit unclear but it is doable. Overall this wasn't the worst course I have ever taken.
I'm in Dr. Lee's 10:00 class. Dr. Lee shows genuine concern for his students and their success. He can be slightly hard to understand, but he gives numerous opportunities for extra credit.
I am in Tan yu lees 10am class and I really enjoy it! This was my second time taking a math class from him and Im glad I did!
I'm in the 11 am section of Calc 2. Dr. Lee is super nice, and very understanding if you need extra help in class. Tests are on webassign, so if you do the homework and understand it, the tests are a piece of cake. Generous with extra-credit. Class can get boring, but it's worth your time to go.
I'm in Dr. Lee's 11am class. Dr. Lee is a super nice guy. Attendance is mandatory if you want bonus points and the Exams are on WebAssign. His reviews are extremely helpful and he provides plenty of opportunities to raise your grade if you do bad. As long as you put forth the effort, you'll get the grade you want.
I am in Dr. Lee's 10 AM class. Dr. Lee is sometimes difficult to understand, but if you pay attention in class and do all the homework, it's not a hard course. He is very accessible outside of class and genuinely wants his students to succeed. Overall, Dr. Lee was a good teacher and I'm glad I took his course.
I am in Dr. Lee's 11 a.m. Cal 2 class. He is a nice teacher all around, even though it may be difficult to understand him at times. He tends to repeat the same lesson for clarity to the class. This gets annoying but it helps.
I am in the 11:00 class, Professor Lee is humorous and throughout the year I have been keeping a journal of all the things he says. I took the class in high school, so I don't really pay attention so I cannot grade as much on teaching ability. But Professor Lee is funny, and has interesting perspectives. 2.7182818459045
He is an extremely nice guy, and he truly cares about each and every one of his students. He gives ample opportunities to bring your grade up and for bonus points if needed, but this class is somewhat difficult with instruction that could be better. Overall, a good class, though!
I'm in Dr. Lee's 11am Calc 2 Class. Dr. Lee was funny at times, buy always kept focused on teaching calculus. Sometimes his teaching would be confusing, but I was able to use the homework and textbook in order to figure it out.
This class is very difficult, and Dr. Lee is not that great of a professor. He is really nice, though, and gives lots of tries at getting bonus for the class. If you show up and pay attention and do the homework, you'll do well though.
I am in the 10:00 am Calc II course, and Professor Lee was one of the nicest teachers I have ever had. He is very understanding and will help you no matter what situation you are in, and he is able t easily teach the course material.
I'm in Dr. Lee's 11 am this semester. Dr. Lee is not like other professors who prioritize research over teaching. He has a great interest in the success of his students, and does whatever he can to make sure his students have a fair shot at an A. He embraces the fact that technology is improving, and along with the math, teaches us to use the tech
I am in his 11am 146-002 class and really have enjoyed having him as a teacher. He is super sweet and cares about his students doing well. Some of the material is really hard to understand but with practice it is manageable. If you go to class he will give extra credit.
Didn't learn much from class, but doing the homework was very helpful.
I'm in Dr. Lee's 9 am class, he is a very nice man who loves what he teaches. He offers many second chances and wants his kids to succeed. Overall, a good course to take.
Professor Tan Yu Lee is a caring man. He wants you to succeed and will not hesitate to help if asked. While his accent may be difficult to understand when you first enter the class, you will adjust quickly and find that he has a wealth of knowledge to share.
Tan Yu Lee is an awesome teacher. He really cares about his students and wants us to succeed. He offers plenty of bonus and extra credit to help your grade.
Great teacher. Kind of hard to understand at times. He offers plenty of extra credit and opportunities to bring up your grade.
9:00 AM class. Professor Tan Lee is a great professor. He isn't the easiest to understand but he cares about his students and is willing to help you out however possible. Im sad to say this is his last year but he was a great teacher and will be missed.
10:00am class. Professor Lee really cares about his students and really tries to help everyone. Sometimes he is hard to understand but it was never too bad. He is really nice and will help you with any troubles you have. The Hw is very important and really helps. Some concepts were hard to understand but General Lee tried his best to explain them.
He taught me for two semesters and I feel like I have a solid foundation for cal 3.
Dr. Lee is a very caring professor. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone understands each part of what we are covering. Class is not mandatory unless you want to be able to receive bonus points. I always attended class especially since Dr. Lee is very helpful in class because he goes over the homework problems. All in all great professor.
10 AM: Dr. Lee is not a bad professor although sometimes the homework doesn't completely prepare you for the curveballs on the tests.
Good teacher that cares about his students and offers extra credit. My only complaint is that he sometimes gets off topic and sometimes the tests have problems that are harder than any of the homework problems.
Teacher was great. Very helpful and willing to help anyone who attends and puts forth effort.
Teacher was great. Very helpful and willing to help anyone who attends and puts forth effort. 10AM class Joshua Carroll
Teacher was great. Very helpful and willing to help anyone who attends and puts forth effort. 10AM class
I received a good foundation to take Cal 3. I had him for two semesters and found the homework and tests to be very helpful in learning. 10 am class
Professor Lee is one of my favorite professors. As most other people are saying he really will do all he can to help you and encourages students to ask for help. His exams were fairly difficult but far from impossible. He also offers plenty of extra credit and reviews that will greatly benefit you to do. Overall he is a great professor. 10 am
overall good teacher. can be hard to understand and isnt always the BEST at explaining things, but is committed to his students and their success
Speaks English very well. Pretty good at explaining concepts and shares shortcuts. Skips around a bit and sometimes runs out of time, but if self taught you will ace class. HW is online and has bonus if finished early. Tests are online, just like hw, so most material is able to be memorized. Take advantage of extra credit and you can do well.
Great professor. Really cares about the students. GIves many shortcuts. Go to class pay attention, and you will be fine.
He was great! He is a really funny guy and extremely awkward. It was a fun experience.
