One of the best instructors I've ever had!!! Highly knowledgeable and SUPER nice. She does everything she can to help her students succeed. She is also very respectful of students' views and loves to hear them. There is absolutely no reason to not get an "A" in her class if you do the work and attend class. This teacher is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
she is very good.
I had never takena class like this before but I am very interested and am looking forward to taking more Psycology classes. She was very friendly and said that you could talk to her about anything. Her lectures were interesting and we got to talk about our thoughts and questions on the topcs which made everything more understanding.
Very good teacher! Open minded and very fair.
Very nice and helpful teacher. Her lectures are long but very interesting. I love the fact that she is extremely open-minded and loves to hear the stories and points of view of her students. :)
Tani is a great teacher and very nice. Her lectures are powerpoint, but she goes through the topics and discusses them very well. She's very open about hearing your ideas, and questions. You're allowed to bring handwriten notes to the tests, which are multiple choice. Her assignments are fair and fun.
Good lectures, to the point and very clear. Very bright and cheery, open to all questions and pretty much all around helpful. Something I noticed was the smile she always had on her face.
She was very nice and witty. Her level of charisma is high and I highly recommend her. gives feedback on the journals we turn in. Promotes a healthy environment where you want to learn. If she keeps up her good attitude, she will be around for a long time. Awsome teacher!
She is very energetic and very fair. Would take her again!
I took Tani's Introduction to Personality online. I was scared at the thought of taking an online class. She was great! Her assignments and tests were posted long in advance. The textbook was an easy read. She posts scores and feedback quickly so you know how you're doing. I highly recommend her. She's great.
she is great, understanding, very good comincator and really makes the class interesting and fair with the grading
I took her online class, she is very good. If you turn everything in on time you will easily get an A. I would take another class from her.
I took her online class and it was very easy. Tani is wonderful and provides feedback on journal entries fast. Tests are from book, some tricky questions though. She offers 30 points of easy extra credit but if you turn ur hw in on time and read the chapters, you will do everything you need for an A. I would definately take Tani again!!
I took Tani's class online and had a good time learning some pretty interesting material. She is very clear, and keeps discussion lively on the message boards. Her insights are deep, and you get the sense that she wants you to learn. She sets her expectations immediately in the beginning, and remains consistent. You will not be disappointed!
She is very kind and a great teacher for this class. You have a lot of options for extra credit. She is very fair.
Excellent teacher! I took the online course. She has great online lectures and the text book was actually addicting to read! She is very helpfull and if you turn in the work on-time you will likely get an A.
Online course: lots of stuff to keep up on, but not hard if you can log on about everyday to keep up. Other than that very easy. Book was so great you learn some real cool stuff. Teacher is so helpful and on top getting back to you.
I took an online class with Tani during the summer and really enjoyed it. Her class is set up so you really get to interact with her and other classmates even though you're all using blackboard. She's a great teacher; I'd love to take a class with her "in real life" sometime!
What an amazing teacher! I feel I gained something personally from taking her class. She is opened minded and answers questions clearly. On the final I remember us going over it as a class and we were allowed to defend our reason why we chose an answer instead or her just marking it wrong. Take her, you won't regret it!
Great!
I had Tani for online Intro to Personality. Her class was crystal clear and she provides many opportunities to make up for missed work. Her class relies heavily on class participation journals/discussions but she grades fairly. Also, her tests were a little challenging but it's important to keep up with text. She was very helpful and extremely genui
Online Course. You will have to read EVERY PAGE of the book and retain what you read. There are 640 pages, you have to read it all from beginning to end for this class. The instructor is very nice, genuinely cares about her student's thoughts about the subject, and she is active in all discussions. GREAT instructor, crappy book, decent class.
Social Psychology-PSY216 with Tani was great! It was the best psych class I've ever had. The curriculum is enlightening and she does a wonderful job teaching it. Extra credit options. No mid-term or final. Just a half-dozen quizzes throughout the term. Tani is very friendly and helpful. You won't be disappointed! You'll gain a lot from this class!
Easily the best teacher I have ever witnessed. Very relaxed, very helpful, very clear on what she wants you to do. Has a great sense of humor, is very flexible, and gives great feedback on assignments. I would recommend this teacher to anyone looking to forward their knowledge in psychology. You learn a lot about yourself, and others. Great class!
The videos in her class were wonderful. It is obvious that she knows the material that she is teaching. She goes at a snail's pace in lectures, indulging any question student's had with an extensive discussion. I ended up having to read the whole book by myself to learn the material. Awesome teacher, just not for me.
Tani is one of the best instructors that I've at PCC. She really cares about her students success and will go out of her way to help. She's easy-going with a great sense of humor. She's also very understanding if you happen to fall behind with a lot of make-up work to help pick your grade up.
Took her online for Psychology personalities class and it was awesome. Very fair teacher, balanced amount of work. She cared about your content and involvment more than grammar. I recommend this teacher and this class.
Tani is a very good instructor who genuinely cares that her students do well. Participation in discussions is mandatory and weekly quizzes are 10 questions, mostly from the book. Took this class on-line and was glad that I selected it as one of my electives. I suggest this class for a prerequisite fulfillment.
This class was online, and was pretty simple. As long as you participate in the discussions and do short journals you'll do well. She answered emails pretty quickly, and was involved in the online discussion.
Online - 2 discussions per wk req'd + journals. she is very involved in class, lots of comments on journals and boards, obviously focused on students. Great prof, grading was fairly prompt. Must read text to do work (new for me). I liked her, class was less interesting than I expected - that was the material. Offered lots of extra optional info
I asked for help many times, and was ignored. I will not choose her for another class.
We watched videos the majority of the time and if we weren't, then it was class discussion. Mostly anecdotal, little informative. The tests are straightforward, but there is so much material that it is difficult to get through it all. Over 100 pages in the textbook per week. Textbook website very helpful.
Very motivated instructor. Expectations were clear. We did watch a lot of videos in class. You really need to read the book to get the required information to pass the exams.
Tani was a genuinely sweet woman. So passionate about her work and so concerned about everyone having an equal turn speaking their mind. Always showed interest in her students. Content was very interesting and allowed for great class discussions. Highly recommended.
Incredible Professor, looked forward to this class, never seemed like we had a enough time. Engages her class, encourages participation and makes it a good experience. Easy & interesting! Excellent experience!
Honestly nice person, her feedback on assignments and class work was valuable to understanding the material. She was quick to respond to emails or forum posts seeking help. Easy class if you do the work and turn in assignments on time.
She was a pretty easy teacher, I took it online and this class had a lot of reading but work was pretty easy! SHe had a great response time and was very nice as far as I could tell over email ;)
Amazing class if you are into psych. She is very organized, gives specific feedback, grades fast, and is basically the perfect instructor. Everything is crystal clear from due dates to expectations. No tests, and EC stuff at the end of the term. Best class of my life!
Excellent teacher. Incorporated lots of current event topics into the class subject matter. She makes the 4 hours fly by. Short papers due each week, and a couple of other writing projects assigned. She provides written feedback on all work turned in. She provides extra credit opportunities too. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had.
ONLINE. I loved her class. Easy “A”. But useful information. She respond to emails with less than 24 hours. And also grades and gives feedback quickly. Her course was very well organized. I would definitely take another class with her. Very sweet lady.
I took PSY 214 online and I really enjoyed taking this class! Easy A! Weekly discussion posts, about 4 Journals, & weekly quizzes. She is very helpful and everything you need to know if from what you read in the book! I highly recommend this class! I learned a lot and will be using what I learned from this class onto my college career.
Web PSY215:Great class. Weekly discussions/response. Biweekly journals. Weekly quizzes (with 3 attempts!). Final paper. Easy class, just gotta keep up each week. Will get easy A if you try and read some of the book. Syllabus is clear on what is expected. Loved the class and instructor wish I could take her again!
Tani is very clear in her guidelines, she leaves no question unanswered. She is very understanding & listens intently to her students. She does not give exams over the material but instead focuses on weekly journals that allow you to engage the chapter with your life experience. She also has a few final assignments. I definitely recommend her!
Took this class online for a requirement & because I was interested in Psychology. If you are someone who is able to open up and can apply topics to your own life, this will be the easiest A you ever get. The work is manageable, expectations are clear & she gave great feedback in a very timely matter. One of my fave courses. Highly recommend her.
she assigns too much work and readings. I personally wouldn't take her class again.
She is a great instructor, and gives great feedback, but there is absolutely too much reading. The text she assigns has easily 30-45 pages per chapter. Her quizzes include questions from specifics in the text, so you must read it all. Quizzes are easy though, you have 3 tries. The lowest scores are dropped. Be prepared to read a ton, but it's easy!
She is a good teacher and tries to help you out, but there's too much homework. There's more than 100 pages of reading a week, papers every other week, a quiz every week, and a discussion every week. If there was less homework and less textbook readings, it would be a much better class. The actual work and quizzes are easy.
I have taken a lot of online classes and Tani's was absolutely the most organized I've ever taken. Her expectations are extremely clear and as long as you pay attention to her direction you'll stay on track. There is a decent amount of work with weekly discussions, homework, and quizes. You will have to work for it but it's an easy A if you do.
Tani was an amazing communicator, and never left you high and dry if you needed guidance. While her tests were challenging and definitely required diligent reading of the text, I feel like I learned a lot. Also, the discussions were actually really enjoyable and required a lot of personal opinion.
Took Psy215 in person with Tani for nursing program and she was more than "awesome". She is a teacher who truly wants you to be successful by always be there for students whenever they need without complaining. There is no test or quiz in class but be ready to read every page from the book and spend times for journals (single space). Great teacher!
This class was a lot to keep up with, so keep that in mind if you typically have a busy schedule. But she gives amazing feedback and was great other than the work load!
I would sign up for any of Tani's classes. More than reasonable expectations, insightful feedback, it really seems like she wants her students to succeed. Really interesting text book.
Critical when grading especially grammatical errors. It's a lot to read so be prepared to highlight key concepts (everything on the test is from the book-including the little scenarios). Get 3 attempts for each quiz. Use of YouTube required as well, the language barrier still hasn't been addressed. Very clear in direction. Ask for specifics!
Interesting class material, lots of reading, not hard but time consuming. Not flexible at all, nor very responsive to feedback or communication from students. Wouldn't recommend this professor at all for a college class unless hers is the only course you take.
Tani is a really good instructor. I felt that her grading was accurate to the amount of time and effort you put into her class. It wasn't hard at all as long as you do the readings and have thoughtful responses to the discussion posts. She wants to make sure you understand and get the concepts. Good communicator, and responds quickly to emails.
Took this class online and DO NOT agree with the other reviews! Tani is a very tough grader. The tests were difficult and I do not feel they matched the text. The journal assignments had confusing instructions and Tani's feedback and tough grading made you feel she expects you to be an expert personality psychologist. Would not recommend.
Tough class! Tani has ridiculously high expectations. Between 11 discussion posts and 5 papers, I wrote a total of 14,000 words or 44 pages double spaced (not wordy just the amount needed to answer all of the questions). 600 pg small print text and 10 hard quizzes (3 attempts but different questions every attempt). I barely got an A.
For a beginner PSY class - high expectations and lot of work Drop one of the two STUPID discussion post responses - NOBODY CARES Having to wait for people to post so you can respond is annoying - again NOBODY CARES Other than that, she is a good instructor and response on timely manner.
I took this class online and I had a lot of fun. You're given three chances to complete the quizzes, the final paper was off of one of the homework. It may be annoying waiting for classmates to post but it's a learning experience. I was a little skeptical about taking this class but I'm really glad I did. She's helpful and is clear on everything.
Tani is an excellent teacher! She's so nice and provides excellent feedback. You participate a lot in class, and learn to open up to everyone. She has a lot of fun activities that make class go by very fast. I would recommend taking any class with Tani. She's awesome!
Tani is very knowledgeable in her field of study. She is approachable and caring to all her students. Be ready for A LOT of writing. She can be tough when it comes to grading but at the same time, she is clear from the beginning on what she expects from her students. Overall, I learned a lot from her class. I would take her class again :)
Homework was reading a chapter a week and doing a quiz that was 10 questions. 1 discussion post and reply are mandatory. Do the work and pass. Final was a short paper. Work is graded in a timely matter. Your final grade is kept up to date to see progress. Doing this class online was easy and I learned a lot about myself and people in general.
This was a really fun class. The structure of the class was super easy to follow. The professor does well at making expectations clear and it is easy to know how you are doing throughout the term. She gives frequent reminders and her feedback is personalized. She grades quickly which rocks and the class was useful in real life. Highly recommend.
Tani was a fantastic teacher. She was very clear on expectations and due dates for each item. Class consisted of weekly discussion posts, quizzes & homework assignments, & a couple video discussions. It was a pretty easy class, but I found the material very interesting, so that helped. I would definitely take another class with her.
Just finished a Human Development class with her. Sincerely one of my favorite all time teachers. This class did not focus on any tests but rather critical thinking and lots of reading and writing. I learned SO much from this class and she made it even more enjoyable. I find that she grades fairly and really wants students to succeed.
unclear and lecture heavy
My first Pysch class and it was great! Tani's layout is like this: 1 quiz, 1 post, 2 responses, 1 homework each week. It worked for me, I learned a lot and liked her a lot too! She responds to emails quickly and is awesome. She did have us do one video for a discussion post at the end of the term, and one final paper. Fairly easy, just do the work!
Great class and great teacher. Very clear directions, clear expectations and clear grading. Lectures were well thought out and planned, homework made sense and related to the materials provided for the week. I would 10/10 recommend this course and teacher.
Fairly easy class just not enough communication with students! No reminders on assignment deadlines, which can put you in a bad spot. Very hard to reach through email.
Required reading 1-3 textbook chapters, watching an approx. 1 hour video and answering discussion questions, responding to 1-2 classmate's discussion posts, finding a scholarly research article and summarizing it and attending 2 hours of zoom class each week where participation matters. Don't take if you aren't willing to spend a lot of time!
I absolutely love her! She is such an inspiration, so caring, and really sets us up for success to go into University. Lots of analyzation of peer reviewed articles which is amazing. I have never had a professor have us do that every week. must read the chapters. no quizzes, just heavy reading, discussions, and analyzing peer reviewed articles.
DON'T take this online if you aren't a fast reader AND typer. You will be reading your entire textbook. Your weekly discussion posts are answering around 5 questions with minimum 200words per question, plus 150 word responses to 2 others, in addition to other homework. There are weekly mult choice quizzes that allow 3 retakes EACH, which is great.
The tasks in the modules are repeated, which will not confuse you. Read one chapter, quiz, discussion / video, two answers and homework - and voila. The most important thing is not to miss the deadline, ask questions if in doubt (you get answers quickly). Strictly, fairly.
Very dedicated to her work. You have to do a lot of reading per week alongside 2 discussions post but it's almost the same every week in terms of assignments. Stay on top of your work and you'll be just fine. Very draining sometimes.
This teacher doesn't give good feedback, at all. Often will give inaccurate feedback and has no repect for students and there outside of class time.
The class is loaded with reading and weekly assignments. Took me at LEAST 1-2 hours to finish each assignment.
Extremely harsh grader and impossible to get ahold of. I would drop this class if I could! In the past, online discussions have always been a few easy questions based on a short video or article. It takes me roughly 2 hours to read and watch all of the discussion material and then answer 5-10 very long questions. I would not recommend her.
I have taken this instructor's classes in the past for her psychology classes. Tani's online classes are heavy with reading and discussions. She assigns a discussion post plus two replies, 2-3 chapters, a journal page, and a quiz each week. Due dates are strict and hard to extend since we should always have access to the course.
You can tell Professor McBeth is very passionate on teaching about psychology. Her online course is also very well structured, and helps you develop a weekly pattern. The one downside is that her instructions are unnecessarily wordy, and repeats a lot of information you already know.
Dont take this class the teacher is horrible and the amount of reading is so overwhelming it genuinely made me want to rip all of my hair out I hated it so much.
This class demands an overwhelming workload, leaving no room for a social life. The readings are EXTENSIVE, discussions are lengthy, and the quizzes dont relate to the test with questions worded weirdly. Even minor tardiness on assignment results in losing half the points. It is the same as a normal psychology course and offers no value beyond one
This class was very informative, yet easy. The teacher is caring and provides good feedback! If you do the work, you will do well in the class. The textbook is online and has an amazing read aloud feature. I would 100% recommend taking this class. Definitely information everyone can apply to their lives. I will never forget this class! (online)
Tani is easy to get in touch with and responds quickly. Her online class is well-formatted and easy to follow. You will need to complete weekly readings from the required textbook, quizzes, and assignments. Tani is a bit picky about grading, but if you do the work properly, you will pass. Overall, Tani and her class are great!
Class was very overwhelming. A lot of assignments and quizzes that were all due on the weekends. Grading was so meticulous. Even if you did your assignment and turned it in, it can easy drop many letter grades if something is slightly off. RUN
She gives out a lot of assignments weekly alongside weekly quizzes and weekly discussions where you must reply to two classmates with at least 150 words. The page is very unorganized and the due dates are all over the place. If you email her for help, she will just resay what she previously stated in the original instructions which is frustrating.
I've seen several comments stating that she is hard on grading, but I haven't once experienced that with her. As long as you do the work and apply yourself, you will do well in this class, as she lays everything out very clearly. Tani is an excellent teacher and you will learn a lot from this class and continue to take the material with you daily.
Tani is a professor who gives "F"s to assignments that are a day late. I got into a biking accident earlier this term and badly injured my arm and was unable to complete homework on time. She was made aware of this and when I asked if there was anything I could do to improve my current grade she replied along the lines of "no :)". Smiley included
The way the course it setup in D2L makes it frustrating to navigate. It is filled with unnecessary, outdated, or incorrect information (e.g. the line "Since the first week is busy, you can post your first discussion later) appears in every discussion post, every week. Some of her HW questions are poorly written, run-on-sentence disasters.
I've only been in this class for 2 weeks and it's too late for me to drop, so I wanted to let my frustrations out here. Very confusing criteria so far. The workload is overwhelming. Doesn't seem to realize that people have lives/other classes outside of this class. I fear I won't retain any information because of how awful this setup is.
