"Dr. T." is seriously the best. She gives a lot of worksheets for practice. They aren't graded, strictly to help you. She makes everything easy to understand, something not easily done in organic. I would definitely recommend her to anyone taking organic.
She gives a lot of partial credit but doesn't teach towards the ACS exam, just follows the book.
She was very hard to understand.
I love Dr. Houjeiry! Although she can be hard to understand at times, Dr. Houjeiry definitely loves what she does and cares about her students. She occasionally gives extra credit for attendance, but could care less if you come to class or not. I recommend attending SI sessions if you don't have a solid foundation in chemistry.
Great Professor, Loves to help students and can always clarify if your confused. Gives plenty of worksheets for practice and bonus points along the way. She is very reasonable aswell
excellent professor. highly recommended
Such a great teacher I loved her! Strongly recommend.
Absolutely wonderful. I took a different professor for 1020 this semester and miss her so much! She's so sweet and supportive. I went to her office multiple times and was worried about my final grade to which she replied, "I have hope in you." My grades were 72, 60, 94, and an 84 on the final. I sought help and I went from a D to a high B! :)
Really good instructor, examples were all helpful. There are extra credit opportunities throughout the class and group quizzes. Id recommend taking her for CH 1020.
Dr. Houjeiry is an excellent professor. I took a different professor for Organic I, and Dr. T for II and have learned so much more than I thought I ever would. Her tests are very fair, she gives lots of quizzes, handouts and worksheets that all help A LOT! If possible I would recommend having Dr. T for BOTH semesters of organic. You will do great
This teacher really cares about her students! Her tests are not extremely hard like the other orgo professors, yet her students make the best grades on the final. If you can, definitely take this teacher. You'll get a better grade and learn more in the process.
II had another professor my first semester of organic and got a C. I had Dr. Houjiery for org II and pulled off an A. She does an amazing job at providing summary sheets, worksheets for extra practice, and even an outline of material for each exam as well as a practice exam. She provides everything you need to be successful. Take her if you can!
She is a great teacher.
Best teacher at Clemson hands down
I really enjoyed taking Dr. Tania's class. She's so stylish and funny. She knows her accent is thick but does the best she can. If you go to her office hours and get to know her she will help you so much and explain anything you need help with. Very passionate about chemistry and her students. She always asks for feedback after exams so be honest!
Dr. T is a great teacher. Her accent isn't a problem although sometimes her grammar can be. Overall, she's a really great teacher. If you ask her for help, she'll definitely give it to you. If you put in the effort, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. I slacked off big time in the beginning and still managed to get a high B.
Dr. T is great. She really wants to help the students do well. The exams are difficult but her mock exams and study guides help a lot. If you ever have any questions, she is very helpful outside of class.
Dr. T is great. Super helpful and kind. You might think she's intimidating but she's really sweet and cares about you doing well. I had her for orgo 1 and 2 and wouldn't take any other prof. It's not an easy class but you do well if you put in the work.
Dr. T is the best General Chemistry teacher at Clemson in my opinion. She gives homework and quizzes, but they are always straight from the material you learn and also boost your grade. She genuinely cares about her students and her lectures are never boring. I definitely recommend her!
I would definitely take her again, I can tell she sincerely wants her students to succeed. She is very nice and puts chemistry into a good perspective for students.
Dr. Tania is a great professor. I was hoping to get her next semester but the time didn't fix.
She truly wants to help and make sure her students learn. However, she moves quickly so you have to print out the powerpoints to stay caught up. Homework and sapling assignments were often but relevant and she does group quizzes. Exams are short answer instead of multiple choice like the final, so she's a little more difficult to take.
Chem1010 is a hard class in general, but Dr. T gives you tons of ways to improve your grade. Assigns lots of extra credit and homework, all her quizzes are either group or take home, and she is always there to help if you need it. Has lots of extra help hours and office hours! She is the sweetest lady take her class!
Coming from a horrible experience in Gen Chem, I expected Organic to be terrible. With Dr. T, it wasn't. She is THE best chemistry professor I've ever had. Her power points are great and easy to understand. She did rush through reactions, but if you start strong, you shouldn't have trouble making a decent grade.
Highly, highly recommend. Her powerpoints and study packets are extremely helpful. Always felt well prepared for the exams if I went to class everyday. Going to her office hours is helpful as well. It is clear that she has her student's best interest at heart and wants them to succeed. Great professor.
She is a really nice person and she is probably more lenient than other organic professors. I enjoyed her and would take her for organic 2 but she isn't teaching it. She's really sweet and makes you feel welcome to ask questions
The sweetest teacher and funny too! Lots of homework and quizzes but they aren't too hard and they REALLY help your grade. I had lots of friends sit in on her lectures and study sessions because she was much better at explaining concepts than other chem 1010 professors. Would 100% choose her as my teacher again!
Dr. Houjeiry was my favorite teacher this semester. She is very kind, and she genuinely cares about her students doing well in the class. Chemistry is a hard course no matter who you take it with so expect to put in work. However, Dr. Houjeiry gives her students every opportunity to do well. She gives review sessions on Sundays before tests.
Amazing professor. People struggle with her accent, but honestly she has great english. She is very clear with everything she wants you to know, and does a great job of explaining things. She does her best to help you however she can and is a fantastic woman. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.
Dr. T is my girl. Everyone knows gen chem at Clemson sucks and if you're just bad at chemistry on top of that then take Tania. She will hold your hand every step of the way in this class and spell things out for you. She WANTS her class to have the highest amount of A's in chemistry so she will help you get there.
She is known as one of the most helpful chemistry professors at Clemson University. While many other classes have complaints about their professors, there are much less in her class and she is known to have higher success rates than the other professors. She loves chemistry and is 100% willing to guide you through the course if you need help.
Dr. Houjeiry does an incredible job of making sure every single student knows what is going on. Her lectures are clear, she has plenty of study guides and extra practice, and the work she makes you do is purposeful. She also posts notes, guides, and powerpoints online that are incredibly helpful.
-Do not need a textbook -Requires iClicker to get participation points -Gives Sapling and occasionally written homework -Group quizzes -Online quizzes -Extra credit -Good PowerPoints and handouts -Teaches the material well
Dr. T is one of the nicest people, and if you go to her for help she absolutely will help you in any way possible, so if you're struggling just go talk to her. Gen chem sucks, especially because you have to take the ASC. It's really hard, so don't wait until finals week to start studying. You'll probably fail.
She is a fantastic teacher. One of my favorites I had this semester. She loves when her student succeed, so she will make sure you get a good grade (if you work for it). She explains everything in the best possible way. She can be sassy sometimes, but that's whatever. 10/10 would recommend. 10/10 would take again.
-always available and carers about her students. -lectures were very clear and she posts plenty of study guides and worksheets/practice problems -you don't need the textbook -short homework assignments -some people have trouble with her accent but her english is honestly pretty great
She really cared about the students and your grade and was always there to help. Class itself was difficult though.
Super helpful, really cares about her students and wants to see you succeed, and if you put in the work you should get your desired grade
Great teacher!!!
She is awesome and her passion for chemistry is evident. She gives you everything you need to succeed -- great and engaging lectures, online worksheets, previous tests, summary sheets, generous office hours. She really wants you to do well and if you put in some effort and show up to class, you will. Go to test review sessions, THEY HELP SO MUCH!!!
Dr. T is an amazing professor and always willing to help. She is the cutest too. Her lectures are pretty straight forward with powerpoint that you could print out. She always gave lots of examples and explanation. She takes all questions seriously too. People from other classes even came to her for help because she was so good.
Amazing professor. Wish I could take her for everything.
Dr. Houjeiry is an amazing professor. She knows the material well and is able to explain it so that makes it easy to understand. In high school I really struggled with chemistry but in this class I've been able to understand things a lot better thanks to her. She is very helpful and cares about her students. I really recommend taking her for chem.
Dr Houjery is amazing. She cares so much and is incredible at explaining even hard ideas. She is also gorgeous so all the girls in the class are jealous she is so hot and smart at the same time. She is everything you want to be.
The first day of class Dr. Houjeiry told us her students have the highest grades in the chem department, now I can see why! She explains everything so well and really wants you to do well. I was really worried about having Chem at 8am but she made it easy!
Not a fan. She was nice, but she taught like she expected you to know everything already, and exams are pretty tough.
In high school, I really hated chemistry and did poorly in it. However, Dr. T's class has given me an appreciation for chemistry and I really was able to understand everything. She has office hours ALL the time, and you can tell that she cares about her students because she puts so much time into review sessions and into making tons of worksheets.
Dr. T is one of the best professors in the Chemistry Department. If you really utilize her office hours and put allot of time into redoing quizzes, worksheets, homework, and reviewing her powerpoints you'll do well. Organic is hard, do not to expect to know everything there is to know about it.
Professor Houjeiry is a good professor who really cares about her students. She enters lots of grades, so one bad grade won't kill you. She was helpful and told a funny story every once in a while. If you go to class and pay attention, you should do well. Study hard for the final; it was much harder than the previous exams.
I had her for gen chem and loved her. She is a great gen chem professor, but then I decided to take her again for organic 1 and it was much more difficult to learn with her. I am in orgo 2 now with a different professor and it all is making much more sense. Try to avoid her for organic, but Id definitely take her gen chem class.
Dr. T is probably my favorite professor that I have had at Clemson. She is understanding and a very effective teacher. She comes off across intimidating at first because she is relatively blunt and loud, however, she is actually very funny and cares about your success. She does expect you to work hard, but she is very relatable and eager to help.
I had Dr T for Gen chem and orgo 1. I wish she taught orgo 2! I had ennis and he is so terribly unorganized. If you can get her for Gen chem 1, 2 and orgo 1, 2 it will make you Clemson experience amazing!
I had her for Gen Chem 1 and I absolutely loved her 10/10 recommend for it. She held study sessions outside of class and gave us lots of practice problems. She had open office hours every week and also made sure that she was available for questions. 100% going to try to have her for future chem classes
Very, very sweet teacher. Really cares about her students. Chem isn't my strong point but she really taught me a lot
Dr. Houjeiry is such an amazing professor that she made my grade go up by 2 letter grades. She was so helpful and let me attend her lectures even though I wasn't her student. She let me come into office hours too and helped me anyway that she could. She is hilarious as well and although she looks stern, she makes jokes all the time. <3
She really cares about you passing. Shes a wonderful professor.
She is an amazing teacher for organic and I have told all my friends to take her! I am a peer leader for a group of freshman, and I have 20 students who are already very excited to take her for organic in Fall 2019 from talking to me! I can speak for many many students when I say we all love Dr Houjeiry so much as a person and a teacher!
Dr.T is a very knowledgeable professor. Not too much paper homework and you get the chance to correct it for a 100. Prepares you well for exams with study sessions and online homework. Can sometimes be unkind and harsh.
Dr. Houjeiry is hands down the best professor at Clemson. I have taken her for both CH1010 and CH1020. I wasn't able to get into her Organic Chem class this year and she took the time to help me outside of class anyways and allowed me to attend her classes and have access to canvas. She pushed me and cared about my success! She is a great teacher!
Dr. Houjeiry is very nice and cool. She is full of energy and can sometimes be all over the place but her notes are very structured so you can still follow along. She has very good summary sheets also. There is Iclikcer participation, Sapling, and in class quizzes which are normally group quizzes. Her office hours are also helpful. She is great.
I came to Clemson a very academically immature freshman. That being said, it was Professor Houjeiry's class that helped me mature into a competent and successful student. This class was the first class in my life where I made a C but that was solely because of my poor work ethic. Thankfully though her class helped prepare me well
Dr. Houijeiry is honestly the best professor I have ever had, even though I had her for CHEM 1010. She is very knowledgable and makes sure to take the time that all students can understand what the concepts are that she's teaching. She so knowledgable and able to help that instead of seeing my CHEM 1020 professor I go to her office hours.
An excellent professor who knows what she is doing. I took her for orgo 1 &2 (both online and over one summer). It was super fast paced (1 test every week) and final after 4 weeks, but her study guides, hw, & lectures were just what you needed to succeed. In the past, chem profs at clemson overloaded me with BS but Houjeiry does not waste your time
Dr. Houjeiry is a very great professor. She has a ton of quizzes in organic 2 but she also drops a lot of them. She is very encouraging and wants you to succeed. She encourages office hours and she also has the highest exams scores out of any organic professor. I struggled in organic 1 but she helped me learn organic 2 pretty well. Highly recommend
Tania has a reputation around campus as being the "teacher to take for chemistry", but I disagree. She knows her material, but this results in her moving wayyyyy too fast. We get out early everyday, but if she took those minutes to slow down so many kids would do better. I had to teach myself all of organic chemistry bc she just reads from slides.
Dr. T is the best professor I have ever had! I didn't have her for Orgo1 and I wish I did! I went up a whole letter grade because of her! She gives you a lot of applicable practice problems. She is so sweet and really wants the best for her students. She is one of the most organized and hard working instructors I've had! Definitely take her class!
Very personable.
Dr. Houjeiry is awesome - very nice and an excellent instructor. The course was very organized as was the Canvas page. She explains things well and has great PowerPoints that she uploads with notes. Always was helpful when I had a question about material. The quizzes always helped to prepare for the exams. Probably the best prof. I've had so far.
Dr. Houjeiry is probably the best chemistry professor I'll ever have. She takes the time during lecture to ensure that students understand what she is explaining. She uses many examples to explain difficult concepts in detail. She loves to make jokes about the material and makes even an 8 AM enjoyable.
I absolutely love Tania! She is one of the best profs. I've ever taken. She understands the material, tries to make it so you can understand, and is always willing to help. I have learned a lot from this class and I actually understand the material. She does tend to go a little fast so it's hard to do examples in class, but I HIGHLY recommend her!
Best organic professor. She is the course coordinator so also knows exactly what you're going to be tested on. Her notes are EXTREMELY organized and I found it a lot easier to learn the material because of it. She goes fast in class, but she has to to fit it all in. Would definitely take her again, wish I had taken her for organic 1!
Super organized and gave great notes. She really knows the material well and wants you to succeed and that shows through her lectures. Go to class, take good notes, and pay attention and you should do well. Orgo is hard, but she makes you feel confident about the material and gives lots of practice problems/quizzes to help you prepare.
She is such a good organic professor. Organic 2 is hard and she genuinely wants you to understand and do well in her class. I am studying for the DAT rn and her teaching has helped me SO much. She tell you exactly what you need to know and is really helpful when you have questions. She also gives great practice materials and notes.
Professor Houjeiry is simply the best! Her notes and lectures are very organized and she will go above and beyond to help you understand the information. If possible take her for every chemistry course you can at Clemson!!!!
Houjeiry is by far the best professor I've had for chemistry. I went from orgo 1 ending with a B to her class and passing every test with a high A and exempting the final. Her note handouts and worksheets prepared me for every test. She gives you all the info you need, you just have to put the work in.
The BEST orgo professor at Clemson BY FAR!! Great handouts and powerpoints! (I have friends in other professors who ask me for copies of my handouts). Easy to get an A or B on exams if you study all the materials she provides. She truly cares for her students and will do all she can to help you succeed.
Dr. Hojeiry is an amazing professor who cares about her students. She puts work into her lectures, is readily available to help students outside class, and has done a great job with online learning. She gives all her students the tools they need to succeed. The only reason I am not doing well in her class is because of problems in my personal life.
Truly takes an interest in her students and is not only interested in the grade.
Though she is a seemingly nice person, her teaching style may not resonate with everyone. She speeds through lectures like she's the Flash, but if she would slow down there would probably be less confusion and better grades. Also, she could do with a teaching and attitude overhaul. Everyone has room to improve, even if they think they are the best.
Dr. T is an amazing professor. There is a little bit of an accent barrier but you can get past it in wo classes. If you go to class, do the practice questions and exams, and get a good quiz grade, you will be fine. The homework system is nothing like the tests and quizzes, so even though they count most of your grade, they aren't that important.
Dr. Houjeiry was an excellent professor, and any ratings which say otherwise are lazy students who refused to work for their grade. Don't expect to take Chem 1010 with any professor and just pass because you watch the lectures. Chemistry takes practice, effort, and dedication. PAL Sessions were my best friend! I made an A on every exam & quiz!
Dr. Houjeiry is without a doubt the best chemistry professor I have taken at Clemson. She truly cares about her students and their success. She offers fairly easy weekly quizzes that she drops the lowest 4 of. You have to attend lecture and study like crazy, but she actually made organic a fun class for me. PAL sessions are also SUPER helpful.
Dr. Houjeiry is a good professor but she really needs an attitude adjustment. She was rude to students and not super accessible outside of class. Her lectures were well done but again it goes back to her bad attitude. Yes COVID-19 caused stress on everyone but I felt like I couldn't go to her for help and when I did she didn't seem like she cared.
Houjeiry was a good choice for organic 1. She definitely knows what she's talking about and gives lectures that make a lot of sense. I think she's probably better in-person but online she struggled a bit.
Dr. Houjeiry was my absolute favorite professor, and I took her for CH 1010 and CH 1020. She cares a ton about her students and is willing to help you in any way she can. Gen Chem is a fairly difficult class, but she helps make it a lot easier!
I had her for Chem 1010 and I honestly would take it again if I had her only. She gives printable fill-in-the-blank notes. The only way to get what goes in the blanks is by going to class, so go. She wants everyone to understand and will try her best. She's sassy so sometimes will come off as rude but she cant help it. Very funny occasionally.
I loved her and she manages to make lectures a really nice, slow pace without ever getting behind schedule. She was always accessible out of class and genuinely cared. One time I forgot to do a quiz and she reached out to me and told me not to worry and that she'd extend the deadline. I never even emailed her about it, she's just super nice!
Houjeiry was an okay professor. I had her online and it wasn't great. She would go really fast in lectures. However, she would record them so you could watch them afterwards and pause when needed. I feel like she went much more in-depth than she needed to for the exams. If you really want to go in depth about organic then she might be a good choice
Dr. T is an amazing professor! I had Taylor for 1010 and the difference in how prepared I felt for exams is insane. Dr. T gave us unlimited attempts on homework and usually 2 attempts on quizzes, chapter summaries, and exam review sessions. She always told us how proud she was of our hard work. You can tell she really cares and students to do well!
Overall, I thought she was a good professor for chem 2. The class in and of itself is not easy, but she typically provides you with materials needed to succeed. I will say, though, that she seemed to have a lot going on this semester and the class felt disorganized at times. I felt prepared for all semester exams; however, final prep was lacking.
The class was super disorganized this semester. She seemed to get super aggravated when people would ask questions. She also complained after the whole class failed the exam and said it was on us for not studying enough. I would take with another professor if possible.
I think that despite what the person below me said about Prof being awful she is a very good teacher. She puts in the effort to help her student succeed but you do have to work for a good grade. She posts so many worksheets, handouts, and times she is available to meet. Its up to you how good you do in her class.
Professor Houjeiry was an amazing gen chem prof. She gives so many examples in class and creates extra worksheets to help you succeed. Her full in the blank notes are really helpful so you can pay more attention in class than rushing to take down some notes. Gen Chem is a hard class in general but Houjeiry made it so much easier and approachable.
Dr. T has been by far the worst prof I have had at Clemson. I think the semester has been tough on her mentally, but she took that out on her students. She often failed to mention key specifics on the exams or led her students down the completely wrong path. Youd be better off with another professor if youre taking Orgo 1.
I was really glad to be taking this course with Dr. Houjeiry as she had a high rating on here. But this semester she has not been on her A game. She seems to be sort of out of it during lectures, and she also is not transparent about what material we will be tested on. Overall, I think she made this class more difficult than it should be.
Dr. Houjeiry has changed my life. I went into this class expecting to barely pass and ended up committing myself to get an A. Her lectures are amazing, she makes sure she explains everything in the best way for us to learn. You can tell through how she speaks to us that she respects and cares so much about all of us. Best teacher I have ever had.
By far the best chemistry teacher at Clemson. She really does a nice job explaining the material, which means you need to go to class for that. She breaks down the math related problems to be easily understood. You do have to work in this class, but it is doable.
Great professor!! as long as you go to every lecture you will do just fine. cant get much better than her as a professor in chem 1
I took Dr. T for CH 1010 and absolutely adored her so I was extremely let down by my experience with her in organic chemistry. This professor was known to cry during exams and even missed class the day of an exam. I did better on the first exam which was taught by a substitute professor since she was absent the first few weeks of the class.
You can tell Professor Houjiery cares about her students and wants them to pass. The class is tough, but if you do the quizzes every week and utilize the materials given, you'll be fine. Attendance is not required at all, you can never show up to class and still get an A as long as you do the work she posts.
She is one of the best professors I've had. I like how she records the lectures so you're able to go back and rewatch them. I never went to a single lecture and just watched her recorded zooms and got a high B. It's such an easy A if you keep up and not watch all of them the night before the exam like I did. But she does a good job at explaining.
Dr. Houjeiry is a great instructor. CH1010 is a very difficult class, and a lot of people bomb the tests and fail from what I've heard. So, put in just a little effort, and you may end up with a B (from curving) at the end of the semester when you thought you were going to get a C.
Dr. Houjeiry's teaching quality has gone downhill. She was in a bad mental state, lashed out at us, said certain topics would not be on the exam when they were the focus, then blamed us for the bad exam grades. Notes were ok, but she was the worst chemgo professor I have ever had. Please take someone else, she's not like she used to be.
Dr. Houjiery is very open to helping you succeed in her class. She has office hours almost everyday, and she encourages us to reach out to her. She put together study guides for exams, class worksheets, and many other study materials that helped make Orgo II less intimidating and more manageable.
Houjeiry does an amazing job making complex topics simple to understand. Although the material was complicated, I never found the class to be too much work up until I needed to study for the tests. She is very nice and her lectures and worksheets are very good so I'd suggest attending and keeping up with work as much as possible.
Dr. Houjeiry is the best choice for Orgo. Her ppt slides are study guides for the exams. You just have to take out time to study it and apply it! She cares about her students and makes organic chemistry a doable subject!
She is the best choice for organic chemistry! I have always struggled with organic chemistry but her ppts and tips make it extremely doable.
Dr. Houjeiry was the best professor I had at Clemson. She clearly cared about us and wanted us to do well. Her method of teaching is amazing.
She is a bit all over the place and unorganized but the added extra opportunity to earn points via homework and discussion boards was awesome. Failed this class the first time but got an A the second time with her online class. Would recommend if you absolutely have to take organic chemistry.
VERY good professor, our class had over 50% As and 1% F. Gives great worksheet for reference with slides for content and great explanations for practice problems. Be ready to take notes and she does take attendance, however it only counts for like 1% of your grade.
She's a little disorganized and sometimes I felt frustrated by her lack of preparation. (last-minute quizzes, typos that affect things, delaying review sessions multiple times until finally having one hours after it was supposed to be). However, she is very kind, her quizzes were almost always multiple attempts, and she truly adores her students.
Obviously CHEM 1010 is going to be a difficult class for mostly everybody who takes it at Clemson. However, Professor Houjeiry does a great job of providing students with resources to prep them for the exams. Lots of time does have to be dedicated to quizzes and homework, but the abundance of practice problems do definitely help for exams.
Chem 1010 is a hard course no matter who you take. Professor Houjeiry gives students plenty of practice problems, quizzes, and other things to ensure they succeed. Professor Houjeiry has no problem meeting with students during office hours and wants her students to be successful overall.
Chem 1010 is very difficult but she does her best to help her students understand. She gives homework, but it actually helps for tests. She also gives lots of study materials for each test. She genuinely wants her students to succeed.
Dr. Houjeiry truly cares about her students and takes the time to explain concepts if anyone is confused. The class is very lecture heavy, so definitely attend. The class does require a lot of work and studying, but an A or B is possible. Overall, I would definitely recommend taking her for CH 1010.
Professor Houjeiry cares a lot about her students; she wants them to succeed and is extremely nice. However, she is very disorganized. Lots of typos on her assignments and even exams; she gets flustered a lot when lecturing too. Obviously, chem is hard so the class is not gonna be easy no matter what, but if you put in enough work, you'll be fine.
Professor Houjeiry is the best CH1010 professor at Clemson! She gives out many quizzes however your three lowest quiz grades are dropped and some quizzes have more than 1 attempt. She cares about her students and definitely wants them to succeed. I recommend taking her class she's fantastic.
This was just one of those classes that is known to be tough. Professor Houjeiry was always very clear about what needed to be known for each of the exams and gave us plenty of practice problems and direction on what the exams were going to look like. She was definitely one of the better professors to take from.
She's nice and wants her students to succeed, and gives us tips where she can. However, I found her lecture style to be really bad for my learning. She goes off on a lot of rambling tangents about aspects of her personal life, and sometimes it gets very tedious (it's difficult for me to sit still most of the time anyways and that didn't help).
Dr. Houjeiry made organic chemistry fun. She puts a lot of care into wanting her students to do well. Chem 2010 in itself is a hard class, and she has to go fast to get all the material covered, but she gives a lot of opportunity to get extra credit. I would recommend her to anyone taking organic!
Dr. Houjeiry is the best chemistry professor at Clemson. The chemistry classes are going to be hard, no matter who your professor is, but Dr. Houjeiry makes it the most manageable. She cares about the success of her students and is always willing to help. I've taken her for 1010 and 1020, and I'm hoping I'll be able to take her for 2010!
Great prof really tries to get you to understand the material.
Dr. Houjeiry is VERY smart about organic chemistry, sometimes it felt like her teachings went over my head. However, she is very good at communicating what you need to know, what will be on the exams, how grades are distributed, etc. This course is definitely tough, but Dr. Houjiery does a great job!
Her class was almost like a breathe of fresh air. She grades based off of a point scale rather than percentage. She goes way too fast in lecture and if you are not good at chemistry then it is almost impossible to understand what is going on. Even though this class is somewhat difficult, it is easy to pull your grade up at the end of the semester.
Miss. Houjeiry is an amazing professor who is available and genuinely cares about her students. She is dedicated to teaching and will spend one on one time with her students but also understands that not everyone is on the same page. She is straight forward and doesn't leave her students in the dark. I would ABSOLUTELY take her again!!
She is a great woman with lots of experience; if you haven't had any prior experience with chemistry, this is a difficult class. She is available outside of class. However, office hours are tough to get. Her exams are hard, but she does provide lots of practice.
Professor Houjeiry makes a difficult class manageable. She genuinely cares about students' success and provides plenty of practice materials. Though attendance is mandatory, lectures are worthwhile. For study prep, I found unstuckstudy and the free textbook very helpful.
Very nice teacher and person. Has a personality and likes to joke in her lectures which keeps it engaging. She teaches very much for the exams which makes the class much easier than if you took it with another professor. Really works to make sure her students know what's expected of them and how to get the grade they want. Would 100% recommend her!
Amazing lectures!!!
She is a great professor but moves VERY QUICK. She will help you with whatever you need and quizzes are open note. Exams are hard but if you studied you will do fine. she does offer to join zoom as well if u dont wanna go to class
Dr. Houjeiry was a really amazing professor and taught the course very well! She's super funny and caring and truly wants the best for her students. She constantly told us how proud she was and was always there for help. She prepared us so well for exams and gave us plenty of practice to help us. She was slightly disorganized but nothing too bad.
I highly recommend taking Dr. Houjeiry! I had Dr. Houjeiry for both 2230 and 2240 and she really cares about her students and does everything she can to make sure her students succeed.
This is the best CHEM 1010 professor to take! Although she speaks fast, she truly cares about her students and wants them to excel. Overall, this is a difficult class, but she explains the material in a great way. She does study sessions the day before exams, and her quizzes are online. She also prepares you well for CHEM 1020 and organic chem.
Great professor for CHEM 1010, taking her CHEM 1020 class next semester. Talks very fast so sometimes the concepts are unclear. Very exam heavy, but lab grade helps out a lot. Attendance is not mandatory, but I highly recommend attending lecture as much as possible to succeed.
Dr. Houjeiry is great! She genuinely cares so much, and she really wants everyone to do well. Gen Chem is a difficult course no matter who your professor is, but she really tries to make exam expectations as clear as possible. I loved her and made sure to register for her for 1020. Dr. Houjeiry, an angel.
Dr. Houjeiry is an amazing professor. Any get chemistry class you're going to take is going to be difficult given the concepts and maths involved. However, Houjeiry is very approachable and provides great resources to study. If you want to succeed in this course just study what the concepts mean and perform plenty of practice.
I took her for Chem 1010, she explained everything well and I consistently got above 90 on all tests. Go to the lectures, do not rely on the recordings because she uses the whiteboard a lot. She is very caring and loves what she does. Very intelligent and explains hard concepts in terms we can understand.
Dr. Houjeiry is incredible! She genuinely cares about her students, and she makes sure that you know what to expect on each exam. She never teaches anything you do not need, which I really appreciate. I highly recommend her for anything Gen Chem!!
Dr. Houjeiry is AWESOME! I've had her for 3 semesters now. She cares so much about her students and gives so much extra credit opportunities. She is also very good at explaining difficult concepts and understands that her students really don't care about chemistry, specifically organic. Take her!!
lectures are very informative and face paced. She provides a lot of helpful study material and explains everything very thoroughly. She also hosts review sessions before each exam. It did feel like a lot of extra work was assigned (weekly quizzes in and out of class + online homework + graded handouts) but in the end it helps pad your grade.
She wants you to get an A. Her grading scale is different from other professors. Accumulating 360 pts after the third exam earns you an exemption from the final and an A... 100 pts on three exams, 80 pts from quizzes, and 20 pts from attendance. Extra points are plentiful. Exams are very, very similar to the practices and you get a note sheet.
fire professor. prepares you well for exams. Go to the lectures and you will do well
I love her so much by far my favorite professor. She makes it clear how much she want's us to succeed and will help prepare for exams in any way she can. 100% would take her class again
Dr. Houjeiry is the best professor, very good at making difficult concepts seem simple. I would recommend her to everyone. Exams are easy.
She is the best chemistry professor on campus. She does talk fast, but records all her lectures, so you can go back and review them. I took her as a chemistry major and she made sure were understood the material. There are numerous quizzes, but some are for practice or extra credit. She cares about her students and is very willing to help.
She was the best a chemistry professor could get! She gave homework and quizzes that were basically graded for completion and a good grade booster. She was available for office hours and hosted study sessions the Sunday before every exam. She wants everyone to succeed in chemistry and prepares you well for all of the exams. Highly recommend!!!!
She is one of the best chem professors I've had. Chem can be a hard class but she tells you what will be on the test and her lectures have all the information you need. She also records all the lectures if you can't go to class. I would definitely take her for chem 1020 if you can.
Dr. Houjeiry has the highest A% for Clemson Chem two for a reason. She will answer all questions and all grades are free 100's except for the exams, as quizzes are take home and if they are given in class they are counted for participation not accuracy. She will curve 87's to A's and 50's to D's. Genuinely a great professor.
My first chem professor and my best by far (coming from a chem major). She cares so much about the subject and you can tell. She goes fast in the notes but is willing to always explain more. She also offers a zoom every day regardless of if your sick or just want to stay home. Most quizzes are group quizzes as well.
She very obviously wants her students to succeed and provides many opportunities for practice and extra grades. It can be difficult to keep up with all the assignments at times. Provides fill in the blank notes that line up with lecture slides and posts all lectures.
