Dr. Tania Mehta is a very enthusiastic professor. she tries to keep entertaining, even with the large amount of apathy from the students. she nice and helpfull and always promt in the marking of tests and assignments.
Very enthusiastic and willing to help in many ways if you prove to do your part as well. Overall a strong professor.
Great Instructor. Knowledgeable of the material, open to discussions and comments, offers help when needed and very understanding with the students. she makes good use of her time in class and makes sure everyone understands the lecture.
I found it very hard to understand what she wanted in her assignments. It was very hard to enjoy this class. Felt marking was random and never knew why I got the mark I did. Gives zero feedback. I do not recommend.
Very enthusiastic professor obviously enjoys literature. Always helped when asked. Gave great notes and insight to aid in your studies. The course really opened my eyes on interpreting texts. I would have this teacher again for sure.
This is a wonderful course for those who seek the type of environment in which they are given a wide scope of freedom in which to express their views on such topics as freedom, community, and identity. The purpose of the course is to delve into the context of the materials and it is highly encouraged to draw from your own experiences in doing so.
nice person, yet very frustrating
Great class. She went beyond the curriculum and discussed a broad variety of topics.
Course strongly organized and demanding at the onset. Towards the end the curriculum became more unstructured and the course suffered. Do the work on time, make an effort and you will be rewarded.
Personally, I feel that Tania was a remarkable prof. She was very helpful and easily approachable. Uses class time effectively and has a very good understanding of the course material. She uses her own insights to help in aiding her students learning. The freedom to express yourself about any particular topic. Great prof, highly recommended!
Great teacher and she makes the course seem very easy compared to high school English 30. That being said, you still need to show up and ask questions about things you do not understand or you will be left behind (she moves through the course very quickly). Overall very good though.
Dr. Tania Mehta is a very nice kind lady. She wants to see her students do well and has a lot of great insights that go beyond the textbook. Found the course interesting but hard to focus at times. Highly recommend this course though.
This is a great first year class. I would recommend this class to anyone. The authors and the one movie you will be looking at in class are interesting. Be sure you read the required readings before class. The papers you will write are not too difficult as long as you put thought into them. The professor is very helpful and is a wonderful professor
I loved being in Tania's class She gave us class notes for the books we read. on the assignments we could basically incorporate those notes. marks fair, she will extend due dates with no problem if you talk to her in advance. sometimes she is not clear on what she wants in the assignment but if you go talk to her she will explain it thoroughly.
She was very nice but sometimes hard to understand. We went at a slow pace so that we could fully understand the material which was good but also redundant. She doesn't like it when students sit in the back row of the classroom. Otherwise, she's always happy!
Great experience with this prof. Very positive and excited about the material she is teaching. Clearly states what is required of assignments and what will be included on exams. Relatively easy marker as long as you are willing to participate in class. Understanding of the fact that students have jobs and other commitments. Flexible with deadlines.
Tania is a great Prof. She definitely allows you the freedom to express your creativity in class and on assignments. She goes through the material fast and expects you to do your readings prior to class. Pretty clear and straight forward if you do this. Not an easy class if you do not.
She gives you rubrics on essays and assignments, and if you follow them you are likely to get an A. She can be a little difficult to understand but if you ask her to repeat herself she will. She takes her job seriously and tries to keep class interesting.
Amazing teacher, if i ever had to take english 30-1 again i would definitely take it with Tania. Highly recommend taking english with her if your looking to get over 90%.
There's a lot that can be said about Tania. As a matter of fact, I could probably write an essay about it (I'm sure she'd love that haha), but I won't. She's nice, has excellent lectures (the notes are great), extremely helpful and will give you an extension if you need it. If you want to pass, learn and have fun while doing it, choose this prof.
Tania is a great teacher and she is more then willing to sit down with you numerous times and go over your essays. Tania gives great feedback and is very enthusiastic. In all, you learn a lot in the class and it widens your prospective.
Dr. Tania Mehta was an amazing teacher to have for English - Literature and Composition. The content can be challenging and she has very high expectations of her students. With that being said, Dr. Mehta ensures that ALL of her students are equipped to take on the workload and will work with students individually as well if they need it. She wants to make sure all of her students are successful. The class was so much fun. I never felt like passing out during a lecture. Our class disscussions were always a blast and extremely engaging for everybody. If you show up and commit as much interest towards the class as she does, I believe you will be very successful.
She is very passionate about the texts that she teaches, however she can be quite unclear about her expectations for assignments. She can also be a little disorganized but is fair when it comes to marking. She really cares and wants to help students succeed if you seek her out for help.
good teacher
Very Kind, great professor and wants her students to succeed.
great teacher! dont get the text book! u can get everything online
She is very humble and a kind woman. She always gives time after class to students who don't understand the concepts they are learning in class. She cares about her students and wants each and everyone of them to pass the class with a good mark. Such an easy marker if you literally write everything that she say's in class. and don't skip thats it
she is a really nice prof, also a really easy grader. do what she asks, u will get A !! She cares about student.
Tania is a spectacular professor. She's helpful & considerate & strives to make sure her students succeed. Her lectures are informative & engaging ! We dealt with topics like multiculturalism & studied texts such as July's people which gave us insight into self-evolution. Enjoyable class, would take again ! Make sure to always come to class !
Some lectures seemed to last a long time without much fulfillment in the course. However mostly she is a very passionate prof always willing to help students when needed. Navigating the essays of Sontag and Barthes can be very fulfilling.
Tania makes all her students participate in class discussions but she may be unclear on what she expects on the assignments but overall an amazing teacher! The novel we read was July's People, and a couple of short stories and poems. If you attend class and participate in class discussions then it'll be very helpful for your assignments!
This class even though being a GNED is a wonderful experience. We had to learn different concepts of writing and literature; Through the use of images we broaden our understanding of what a simple picture can have in meaning. Overall an awesome class with a great and understanding professor, I would recommend this class and professor to everyone.
During my semester, I didn't think Tania was a fair marker. She confused me with another student who skipped classes and in return failed my essays. Her class was easy, and dry (I was in her upgrading English class). I would not recommend this class to students trying to boost their average.
Big boss take classes with her you wont regret it
Tania is a great prof! She does a lot in depth short stories, novels, play, and film study which comes in handy when discussing in class as everyone participates and puts forward their thoughts and ideas about the text. I came to class every week there is no substitution when u miss. She gives you the mark you work for. The readings are insightful
Tania is an amazing prof who cares about her students. She teaches in depth with the stories, films and novels by showing meaning and bringing up concepts that are thought provoking and inspiring. She marks you on how much effort you put in your class and her classes are too good to miss. I would definitely recommend you take her class.
Normally, I would have thought that this class would have been boring and hard to pass, but with this prof, she is very willing to help you outside of class and give good feedback on the assignments that you do. From what I see, I truly believe that this prof is trying her best to help YOU learn and she may be one of the best profs that I will have
I have her for 2 classes and I would take her again. She is very approachable when you have questions and is clear of what is expected for assignments. Her lectures are great and thought provoking.
Tania loves teaching. She is very thorough with her lectures and instructions required for the assignments. Moreover, her lectures are very informative and it clearly depicts the depth of her knowledge in this course. On a personal level, she is jolly, helpful and understanding. I would definitely recommend her to my friends for this course.
I really enjoyed this course with Tania. She embraces texts from many diverse cultures around the world, which gives you many different perspectives the human condition. In order for you to properly enjoy this class you should embrace an open mind and become imaginitive as possible! You'll love this course if you love learning about new cultures
Tania Mehta is a wonderful teacher! I really enjoy her classes. She engages you to think out side the box. Material is explained clearly, and she is approachable if you need help. I would recommend her!
The course was a good learning experienced and we did a lot of new materials which I wasn't familiar with. Which is good!
Tania is a amazing Professor! She engages with the class and individually, gives great feedback and goes through the whole course in-depth! Tania is easily approachable and brings inspiring concepts to class. I would 100% recommend her!
Tania is an amazing professor , knows the material out in and her class is enjoyable. she also an encouraging to feel as you are part of the class by participating. I really really recommend for everyone to take her class.
Tania is an amazing professor because she cares so much about her students. She encourages everyone to engage in discussions & respects their perspectives. Although her assignments can be a little unclear at times, she is always willing to clarify if you take the time to ask her. This class was extremely insightful & I would take it again for sure!
Tania is one of my best professor I have ever heard. She has been so helpful with her amazing teaching skills. I was afraid of taking the class but now I feel confident. She establishes clear objectives for each lesson and always make sure she follow those objections in class.
Tania is a very approachable person who wants her students to succeed. She promotes a kind of environment where every one is accepted and can feel comfortable. I am very thankful to have had the opurtunity to be a student in Tania's ELA 30 lvl upgrading class.
Dr Mehtas class was an inspirational and memorable class both as a learning experience and for university prep skills. In class we discuss a variety of topics from literature as well as society around us. For university prep, Dr Mehta understands the success of her students and will work with students personally to help them achieve their goal.
A kind and caring lady, you can tell she loves teaching and wants to see her students do well. She encourages class discussions, and does so in a way that personally made me feel comfortable to speak, and as though my input was valued. Instruction was sometimes unclear, but she's a fair grader. Overall, I enjoyed this class. Thanks Tania!
Tania is an excellent teacher. She really has a passion in what she does and enjoys her job, and that is what makes her an excellent teacher. Her papers are not difficult and she is an excellent grader. I would suggest to go to class as attendance is important to her, but she does post up the lectures on BB in case anyone missed it. I recommend her
Tania is an amazing prof, she is willing to help students in every way. Each class is valuable and lecture discussions are important for major assignments. Attendance reflects overall mark. She is very sweet and is always willing to give extra assistance to make her students be successful in the class. Take her class wont regret, recommend her!
Tania is a very intelligent and caring professor. You can tell she wants you to succeed and is willing to go above and beyond to make that a reality. The content is carefully chosen for the course and the workload is fair. She is respectful of all students and their time. I learned a lot and enjoyed the creative environment.
She is a great prof and I would recommend her for any classes she teaches. I had done 2 other classes with her she is highly recommended.
She's is a great prof that wants to be engaged with the students. She highly encourages creativity and very helpful when asked for guidance. Showing up to class is a must because she does not always post detailed notes and she really likes talking with students.
Excellent class, was a pleasure to take. The course is enjoyable and explores multiple writers and topics in a manner that allows for students to appreciate and retain information about the literature and images discussed, and develop a better ability to analyze such information. I would recommend this teacher and course to fellow students.
Super nice teacher. Assignments and test are fair and not too hard. Maybe a little bit more feedback for assignments but overall I would recommend her.
English 0130 if good for students to show up on time and to the lectures. Moral Disorder is read in this course. Effort is key. I would love to have this prof again. Mrs. Tania Mehta is a decent person. She is the type of professor who wants students to succeed. She puts lots of effort in the lectures so students can understand in depth.
Tania is amazing! So happy I got to be in one of her classes. She honestly really cares about her students and wants them to do well- I have personal experience that can attest to that. The course content was good and straight forward (Novel:Moral Disdorder, various Margaret Atwood poems + others). Show up to class and pay close attention.
Tania is amazing, one of the best profs I've had in uni, she is very straight forward and gives extra assistance which is very helpful for assignments. Her marking scheme is also straight forward, follow her expectations and receive the grade you deserve. No mistakes taking her class
Tania Mehta is one of the most helpful profs around mru. Hands down she wins in being polite and patience towards all her students. She likes the room being quite when she is talking so be ready to be shhh by her. But if you do what is expected from her class, you'll get that A no problem!
She is one of the amazing prof in MRU. She is approachable. She is very passionate about teaching. She is there to make sure that everyone succeeds. Take her class you won't regret it.
She is an amazing prof, and I would definitely take another class with her. She's very accommodating, so long as you let her know the situation you're in. Her assignments are explained very well and easy to do. There is a lot of writing in this class so be prepared for that.
Dr. Tania is an excellent instructor that does not only care for her student's success, but also their learning. This course brings the two worlds of art and literature together in a meaningful and effective way. Students will explore the ideas of scholars such as, John Berger and Susan Sontag. I highly recommend taking this course with Dr. Tania.
It's easy, but a lot of work
One of the Best professor in MRU.. very experienced, professional and polite . Shes always very organized with her with her lectures ; amazing and interesting lectures. She is very respected prof. Always inspires others to achieve success with her greatness and made this course very interesting with related readings and class discussions.
She is amazing prof. She designed the course material that interests everyone. A lot of class discussions and group assignments made this course very interesting. One of the great professor and forms a strong relationship with students and cares about everyone's success. I don't know why people are overwhelmed; Give respect and get respect.
Tania is truly amazing, she makes sure you understand the content within the course and cares about you as a person. She is understanding and makes it easy to complete the work assigned . Tests and quizzes are not hard if you just attend class and pay attention. I would without a doubt take Tania as a professor again and would highly recommend her.
Tania is a very kind and caring Professor. As long as you put in effort, participate in class, and show that you care about the material when working on assignments, she will acknowledge you accordingly. Overall, Tania is an excellent Professor and an excellent person.
You read a lot in this class and have a couple of essays to do, but as long as you do the readings and know what youre doing you will get a good mark. Shes a very easy marker and everyone is able to pass with an A
As a business student, it's almost impossible to enjoy reading books or writing essays. Even though that part of me will never change, Tania definitely showed me that it can be enjoyable. She's able to put herself in other people' shoes, so she understands the stress that students go through every day. Tania is hands down, the best prof ever.
I have had issues with writing since day 1, and was always afraid of taking GNED 1404. I think tania made the class so much easier, and was really understanding through out the semester. She was one of the best professors i have had and you can get an easy A if u take the class with her.
I am a horrible writer, never got anything above 60 in high school. Ended this class with an A-. Tania can be a bit annoying with her attendance rants but she is an easy marker. Show up to class, be on her good side and you'll get an A. Take her if you can because she gives good feedback on papers if you go to her before its due. Easy A.
For my upgrading semester to get into my program, I took Tania's upgrading course. For the majority of high-school I found English 30-1 to be impractical, so I was concerned for this course. Tania, however changed my mind on language arts. She had proven that there was skills you could use in writing! Inspiring prof. and effective lectures. 5/5
Tania Mehta is an excellent professor who values her students work ethic. Additionally she brings value through the GNED with practical knowledge and techniques you can implement into other courses. Awesome professor who provides supplementary feedback, is inspirational and truly cares for her students. Do the work and it's an easy A!
Dr. Mehta, was the perfect choice i needed for this class. I love her lectures, as she goes in depth and explains everything clear and precise. She's big on participation and working with our peers. She's very understanding, and is available for extra help outside of class. Easy marker when you show interest and actually do the work required.
I would honestly retake this class and with Miss Mehta all over again!. She is very understanding and caring. I want to take GENED'S with her :-). You must show up to every class as participation matters. The grading criteria is very clear and straightforward. I sometimes thought i did bad on an assignment and still got a really good mark!.
she is supper helpful and she really wants her kids to pass the class
Dr. Tania Mehta is one of the best professors. She is lovely, and she is very passionate about her job. She teaches and explains the lecture perfectly. You need to participate in the class and take notes. She will prepare you with what you need for the tests and essays. You will enjoy this class very much. :)
She is very helpful and encourages everyone to pass with good grades. She teaches and explains every material covered thought the course. She also prepares her students for every test, midterm, and final exam. I would definitely take her class again.
Literally gives students all the necessary tools to pass her class. My favourite class to attend, if you pay attention and take notes you will have no problem. Tania provides a safe environment and encourages students to speak up. Goes into detail about everything taught, so students can have a clear understanding. %100 would take her class again.
Course is somewhat difficult but she is nice person and understand her students and gives good feedbacks.
Dr. Mehta gives an amazing insight towards building the basic set of skills to write and dissect pieces of literature. I feel that compared to my other courses she is one of the most understanding profs, that being said you do have to pay attention in class and participate.
She is an amazing person in general. She wants all her students to succeed in her class and school in general. The most understanding professor I ever had; I would take another class with her in a heartbeat! Will definitely miss her.
Very good teacher!
Easy accessible outside of class, always responds to the emails, gives clear instructions on what she expects to see in our paper/essays/assignments. Provides very interesting perspectives on photography.
Her assignments are unclear, she doesn't really tell you what she is looking for and if you email her, her replies are quite condescending. If you take her class, make sure you make friends otherwise you're screwed.
She is condescending and talks to students as if they are children. I did not feel respected in her class. Although I got an A, I absolutely dreaded these classes and think you will too.
OMG I'm sooooo happy to have Tania. The most wonderful prof ever. She made me so interested in English. Her class is so calm and easy. I would love to take it again and again.
I did not know what to expect going into this class, but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. She was clear on her expectations on assignments and made writing about images interesting. I would defiantly take another class with her if possible.
Since the class is online. I have enjoyed her class. There's usually 4 assignments and the final. Most of her lessons are recorded and all the informations for all the assignments are in those recorded lessons. Also, what I like about her class she is really flexible when it comes to picking your own topic for your other assignments.
Tania was amazing to have as a professor for an online class. Her lectures are interesting and detailed, and the assignments she gave were actually fun and appealing, yet still related to the class. This was my second time having her, and not only is she a great professor, but shes extremely caring toward her students. I highly recommend her.
The best prof ever. shes so helpful and doesnt expect you to know everything, and rather helps you through it. such an easy marker she is so helpful outside of class. take this class with tania! shes truly a great person and an amazing prof.
Really sweet, but it was so hard to be in her class. Lecture videos were hard to watch. Something was wrong with her mic and she didn't fix it when we told her. She also split up the work really weird - one assignment in Oct, then the rest a week apart in Nov; no ext. allowed. The final was also completely different from what we did the whole sem.
This class was 100% pre-recorded lectures and self-teaching, which works well if you have a changing schedule. But Tania's feedback on papers was very confusing, and she changed the grading criteria every time, which was never completely clear. Still, it won't be hard to get a good mark if you make sure to use the ideas she teaches in the lectures.
talks to us like we are kids, in both lectures and in emails. very unclear on assignments. lectures are very hard to watch and understand
During the winter semester of 2021, she has pre-recorded classes which makes it hard to ask questions without emailing her so I'm not a fan
the worst teacher I have ever had. She explains absolutely nothing to you, doesn't answer emails ever, does not provide help on assignments, and complains about her students insecently. I've asked her so many straight forward questions and she ethier doesn't answer me at all or tells me I need to try harder/listen more. Condescending and rude!
I really enjoyed the course material presented in this class. Presentation of this course material was not engaging and I found it difficult to sit through lectures. I did well in this classes solely because I found the course material easy to write on. The quality of the lecture videos was poor and I was never sure of what to take notes on.
"You have to do the research." her canned response. Needs to realize people are trying to build foundational skills they missed out on in HS, and it is her job to to TEACH that. Will cut words out from an essay, resulting in a broken sentence that makes no sense. Left my totally unprepared for university level classes.
I took her writing class, she is very hard to understand but you get used to it. She is a pretty easy marker and she loves any perspective on things so don't be scared to oppose. She says attendance is mandatory but really all you need to be there for is the group discussion day. She gives positive feedback on essays as well as constructive.
This may have been the easiest class I have ever taken, period. All you have to do is show up to the class and that's it. she is an extremely easy marker, and honestly, I don't see how anyone couldn't get A in that class.
I was anxious about taking a writing class but she made it a breeze! This class has helped me gain confidence with writing essays. The texts she uses are very thought-provoking and teaches you lots of lessons. She gives helpful and constructive feedbacks which helps you prepare for the bigger assignments and final. Very understanding prof! 10/10!
When it comes to GNED, taking a course such as 1404 with professor Mehta is a must! The course itself was very thought-provoking and Mehta used appropriate text, examples and lecture topics which supported me to fully understand the impact of images. The concepts can be profound at times, but this is the beauty of a liberal education.
Dr. Mehta is definitely a professor that you would want to have on your first year. The way she teaches allows for class discussion that elevates and emphasizes the information that you would need to know to write your assignments. If you put in the effort, you shouldn't have any problems with this class.
Very sweet woman, but she was really hard to understand in an online setting. Her mic was always a bit muffled and she would go on very long and complicated tangents that had little relevancy. If you don't follow instructions closely you WILL lose marks. I forgot to attach her rubric to my essay and lost a letter grade for it.
Overall, positive experience in Eng130. Pros: The materials were easy to understand. Vocal about what she expected. Responded promptly to emails. Smaller assignments easy. Larger assignments required a thorough analysis and she would mark accordingly. Cons: She could talk in circles, not really answering a question. Lectures were hard to stay awake
I've had Tania twice now for classes. She is a super fair marker and her class is relatively easy. I gave her a 4 mainly cause her lectures are incredibly dry and she talks in circles with no real relevance to her course work. I haven't attend a majority of her classes and still been receiving high grades. She gives you what you need to pass
tania is great, very clear in her rubrics however lectures were dry BUTT easy AAAA. if english is already a strong suit of yours this class will be easy breezy. in this 13 week semester she only had 4 assesments in total no quizzes no projects just 3 easy papers. i would take again. :D
I have had her for multiple courses and for the most part everything is straight forward. The assignments give students the opportunity to be creative in their writing. For students who are not as strong writers, the lectures provide a lot of information on the books as well as tips on how to write the assignments. Fair grader with lot of feedback.
Tania is a good professor and it's not too tricky to get a decent grade. She's a pretty fair and easy marker and gives all the important big themes in class that are easy to write about in major assignments. She really does care about her students and is really responsive if you reach out over email or outside of class.
Tania is one of my favourite professors. She is very engaging and loves to have open discussions in class. I'd suggest being present in class because there are very clear/informative lecture notes that can be used to guide you on your assignments. If you put in the effort, you will gain substantial skills that you can implement into other course!
Endlessly long lectures. I feel bad because you can tell she is passionate about what she does however, I fell asleep most of the time.
If you're an essay student, take this class. She is an easy teacher to understand but her lectures seem to drag on for a very long time. She dismisses us early though because she wants us to get to other classes on time. 4 essays for this class and that's it. I skipped the entire month of November and I'm doing well.
Her lectures are incredibly incohesive and difficult to follow. When asked a question, she just talks in circles and you forget why you even asked her in the first place. She does not listen to you. She once told me to speak with her after class, didn't listen and dismissed my concerns, and then walked away while I was still speaking to her. Bad.
She is one of the easiest markers I have ever encountered and I only went to 4 classes. Yes theres 4 big assignments but they are so easy and no other work required. Here lectures are dry and painful to sit through but shes a good prof to have if you want a gpa boost.
She has a written in-class essay as the midterm, with written questions. Pretty hard for a gned.
I took GNED 1404 and GNED 1202 with Ms. Mehta. I liked 1202 better, but they both had great texts to write about and the prof was really easy-going and helpful.
She is really nice and laid back. I like how she only has a few assignments and grades pretty easily. The books/movie that the assignments are based off are pretty interesting and not too complex. She is also very understanding, I'd recommend her.
Slightly difficult to understand sometimes, but she is passionate about what she teaches and does not mark very harshly.
I would definitely recommend everyone take this class. The texts you read are quite engaging and they really make you think. I have taken a few other classes with Tania and she has always been very helpful and understanding. Just show up to class, do your readings and you will do great in the class.
Tania talks in circles in her lectures and they are SO dry, hard to follow. For our midterm she gives you 8 short answer questions (4-5 sentences each) & you have to write a 600 word essay all by hand in 1 hour and 20 mins. Attendance is important to her. Terrible prof.
The novels that Tania picks are interesting, do not take much time to complete and are easy to comprehend. We started the semester out with Siddhartha, then read Metamorphosis, then Samskara, watched Shawshank redemption and finished with Scarlet letter. All the novels and films have a different message, but connect well with each other.
Tania is aight. She would stress about attendance but takes it only at the start of the sem. Lectures are kinda useless, keeps on talking around circels and doesn't provide you with a straight answer. However, she is open to all opinions and does not critique. Be advised for the midterm is handwritten inclusive of: an essay, long Q & A in one class
I believe this is one of the better GNED courses. Two of the three novels are pretty short and easy to read. There are only two major assignments and she gives you lots of time to prepare. The midterm is handwritten but if you show up to class and have an understanding of the novels it is pretty easy to complete.
Dont know why some profs dont allow technology? If you suck at inperson essays/writing on paper, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. ( the midterm, and an inclass film analysis were in person, written, and had to be around 600 words and done within class time, the other two essays were allowed to be typed out and handed in on d2l)
Tani Mehta is an outstanding educator who possesses exceptional teaching skills. Overall, Professor Mehta is a great teacher whose dedication to her students and love of teaching make her a real asset to the academic community. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a knowledgeable and engaging instructor in GNED 1402.
GNED 1404 With Tania was pretty easy, you can get away with not doing the course readings. I found the lectures to be a bit dry at times, but Tania gives really good and constructive feedback and still gives you a good grade.
I dreaded the lectures, she talked in circles and was hard to follow. I can't say the papers were horrible though cause I ended up with an A. Find another prof cause this one stressed me out lol. She still means well though.
I was with Tania Mehta in GNED 1202 and she's very thoughtful and accommodating throughout the course. Her expectations are clear and if you understand her learning objectives, you shouldn't have problems in the course. She's accessible outside of class, some classes are of open discussions and attendance is mandatory.
Tania is the best professor I had in my first semester at MRU She is a really easy marker and tries her best, so everyone will succeed. highly recommend her
The lectures are useless she doesn't add anything to the material or enhance any understanding. Lectures are so long and are unengaging. She has clear favorites and that shows in both lectures and grading.
GENED 1404 was a insightful course, allowing those who apply themselves to have a deeper understanding of how to perceive images, and scenarios. The course allows development of a students writing and analytical skills. However, there are very few assignments you will be graded on, and there should be more incentive to do the course readings.
I highly recommend Professor Tania for this course. She explains complex topics in a way that's easy to understand, engages students effectively, and creates a positive learning environment. Her passion for the subject shines through in every lecture, making the class enjoyable and informative.
Very boring lectures, not hard workload. Does not respond to emails and does not post class notes etc.
Tania is one of my best Prof this Fall semester. Her lecturers were easy for me, as long as you attend classes, follow her instructions, and also participate in class discussions, you will do great in this course. She demonstrated a genuine passion for the course! Grateful for such a great and caring professor!
She never responds to emails and her lectures are not engaging at all.
Class felt extremely unorganized and her lectures aren't really engaging. Spent a month on a book where the assignment was worth 5%, then 2 classes on a book where the assignment was worth 25%. Almost never responds to emails but she is a fair grader, and if assignment is late she generally won't penalize u.
I dreaded going to her lectures because of how boring it was. She talks in circles and makes it so confusing to understand what the point she is trying to make is. Barely anyone showed up to the lectures by the end of the semester. She is definitely a kind person but not a good teacher at all. Also very unorganized. I would avoid her at all cost.
By far the worst prof I have ever had! Lectures were hard to follow. A lot of political incorrect terms, lead to a horrible assignment which I had a really hard time completing. We were supposed to write a journal entry from the view of a Holocaust inmate (including descriptions like smell of death,... ). Running out of words but that is so wrong!!
Tania was not engaging at all. She was very disrespectful towards students when they had a question to ask. Her lectures are also mandatory but generally you don't need them because she talks in circles and doesn't establish one point. I generally am a good student and can tolerate a lot from professors, but I would not take her class ever again.
Lectures are extremely boring. She can be rude when approaching questions and is usually very unclear with instructions. Expects too much from a gned class.
This professor is very rude, she does not like answering questions and does not provide clear insightful feedback. Attendance matters and is mandatory even so it is completely useless. I would not recommend this class at all, by far the worst experience i've ever had in a class at mru.
Tania gets angry when someone asks her questions or leaves her hanging on one. Not to mention her feedback is irrelevant. She gave us a prompt to write on 3 motifs yet in her feedback told me I was "too specific" and should only focus on 1 motif. Highly do not recommend her.
Tania is a very disorganized professor. She has no idea what she is doing, and her entire course is so messy.
literally the WORST class I have ever taken at MRU purely because of this professor.....Would never recommend not in a million years.
Very kind and caring professor. She really notices the students who work hard for their mark and she will reward them for it. It is important to show up to her classes and to ask questions about the assignments.
Tania is so hard to follow and her lectures are boring. She is making us do a project on the Holocaust by reenacting it... that is just wrong. Do not recommend her class!!
Overall, my experience in the class was a good one. She is a fair marker, and although there are a lot of readings, the reading as fun, and not like other readings in other courses. She is a lenient marker, but you still have to put in the work. My only ick is the voluminous word count on assignments.
Tania honestly seems like a nice person, but she is a bad professor. We have around 30 people in our class and end up with only 5 attending halfway through the semester. She teaches inefficiently to the point that we all don't know what she's teaching and what she even wants us to do. I wouldn't recommend her class at all. Avoid it if you can.
try your best to avoid
Tania is not great. She emphasizes the importance of attendance and reads right off the slides. I have found that the rubrics and explanation of assignments is extremely poor. When she doesn't read off slides she talks randomly about the texts we have to read in a completely unrelated and unhelpful way. Would not recommend.
Professor Mehta is caring and wants her students to do well in the class. Attending her lectures is recommended as she reviews what aspects, ideas, and styles she specifically expects for the assignment(s) and quizzes - therefore giving you an advantage She respects the students who respect her and is overall a delightful professor.
Very lovely lady - Not a a good teacher. She talks in circles in her lectures and confuses the class. Her assignments are easy but VERY specific and somehow vague at the same time??? she stresses on attendance however it is a genuine struggle to show up due to her extremely boring teaching style. Class went down from 30 students to 6. yep.
Tania is a sweet prof yet she is so hard to follow. Her lectures are so boring and coming to class is hard yet she takes attendance. Our last assignment is on Maus and we are supposed to make a diary entry about living in the Holocaust which I feel is wrong. Do not recommend her at all!
Tania is nice sometimes but her teaching style is not nice at all. She talks about random things that don't make sense and forces people to come to class. The first week there were around 30 people and now maximum of 6 despite attendance. Avoid taking her class. I dont make it a habit not to come to class but for her it is not worth it.
I wish her lectures had more information that was relevant to the classes. The assignments are also really weird. We have to write a journal entry about "the smell of death and decay" in the Holocaust which is so wrong especially with the current events going on right now. I would not recommend her class.
Her lectures aren't informative and she does not post the slides I wouldn't recommend her
Worst professor I've ever had. Bland lectures, hard to understand what she is saying and grammatically most of it doesn't make sense. She also wouldn't accept me and another student's accommodations. Has a Holocaust assignment that made me and some other students very uncomfortable. Spoke rudely when attendance was low. Would not recommend.
Made it difficult to come to class. Rarely gives feedback, is repetitive and activities are seemingly pointless. Gave mixed vibes for sure. Avoid while you can.
Teacher has a thick accent and does not follow the schedule given
Tania is a horrendous professor. I'm two weeks into the course and want to skip every class. She doesn't upload slides and yet expects us to review the content. When it comes to any of the readings required in class she also doesn't upload the content. If you're thinking about taking this course find any other professor.
Tania is a great professor. She does give you what you need to read and sends multiple emails about it prior to class. Ignore the bad reviews. When a lot of people do not show up to lectures, that's when she will take attendance. Tania is very caring and is enthusiastic about what she teaches. It is better than most English classes for sure!
Her slides are never posted, let alone even comprehendible. Her lectures are vague, and she also doesn't seem very ok with accommodations
Tough class with a polarizing professor. Lectures can be confusing and activities feel pointless. However, unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for test prep. Avoid if you can, but if you must take it, use all available resources.
She's a good teacher if you're taking a first-year course with her. She understands it's people's first year so she doesn't mark hard at all. She is a very sweet lady and wants to get people to engage. Personally, I enjoyed her and I recommend her if you want an easy A. Just attend the lectures and then do the homework you will be fine.
Very caring professor. Course load is not too heavy and is also not too difficult if lectures are attended. Lectures are helpful in establishing what is expected in the papers and tests. Overall a very caring and respectful professor.
She's one of the best prof i took. She helps you understand the courseload as long as you ask her. She explains the assignment in class and gives great feedback.
Tania is a wonderful professor. Clear on expectations and really wants the class to engage. She's an easy marker and understands we are 1st year students. She provides gentle guidance to help you improve your work and prepare you for higher-level courses.
Tania is an amazing professor. She is very helpful on assignments and engages with the class, She is also an easy marker and her lectures are simple to understand, She posts the lectures after class. Overall her class was is very fun and easy.
Nice lady, the class itself wasn't bad but the lectures can be confusing and all over the place. She doesn't post the slides but they're also hard to follow even when you attend class. Tests are easy though, just a tough grader on assignments. No final and lots of options for the final project though which is nice.
She made absolutely no sense the entire semester and when you ask for clarification she is no help. She rarely responds to emails so it's hard to communicate. Super tough grader and gives horrible feedback if any at all. She “goes over slides” in class but they make no sense and don't actually have any content.
Her lectures make no sense. She is redundant and boring. She takes forever to grade papers. It's so hard to come to class but she NEVER posts slides that she says she's going to post!! Even then, her slides dont make sense along with the lecture!!! You are on your own. We wrote a weird paper in the point of view of a Holocaust survivor.
One of the best professors, I will take her again.
Literally the worst prof I have ever had. Super hard marker on assignments and gives no feedback even if you submitted the rubric with the assignment. Her lectures are complete nonsense and she just reads off the slides. She also doesn't respond to emails in fact she ghosted me after I asked for feedback. DO NOT RECOMMEND at all.
I will say that it was hard to understand what she was saying most of the time because she was so unorganized. It was easy for her to get off track but other than that, as long as you go to her lectures you will understand the material. When I asked for an extension because I had so many things going she said no. She also gives no feedback.
horrible and rude
She teaches very thoughtfully and acknowledges intricate ideas, therefore in class participation is important, even though it's not required. She cares very much about the information she teaches during class, she not only encourages the students ability to write creatively but challenges them with the various topics and ideas the class explores.
She basically talks about the same thing every single lecture, the same message about meaning of life reiterated every single lecture, I genuinely feel as though going to them is useless.
Where do I start? If you show up like 3 minutes late she will stop the class and say you need to get here earlier yet multiple times she will show up like 10 minutes late. Her slides make absolutely 0 sense, I'm not sure even she knows what's going on. She is a sweet woman but also kinda not.
If you can avoid her, please do! GNED classes are meant to be easy especially first year ones, but she makes it so difficult. I took her in my first year on uni, and she made writing about images the hardest thing to do. Also the midterm we did was written and only got class time for it, and most of the class did not even finish it completely.
I took both GNED-1404 and GNED-1202 with Tania, and found that she made it easy to balance both classes with my heavy courseload outside of her class. She set me and my peers up for success and gave proper resources and instruction, so that tests and assignments were doable amidst the chaos. Thanks for a great first year Tania
Class was super easy and the assignments were very straight forward. She's very understanding of life problems like missing tests and classes due to family emergency or being sick. She's an amazing prof and I thoroughly enjoyed being in her class. Overall, I'd highly recommend her for any of your classes especially if you're taking GNED 1202.
Easiest class I've taken by far. EVeryone else saying the course is difficult is either lazy or didn't show up. I didn't listen for the majority of the time, and I still did super well. I would take this course again.
This class was an extremely easy class to achieve easy As to say the least. However, her lectures are extremely confusing, boring and make close to no sense. She does not give proper instructions and it's easy to be confused by what the expectations are for her assignments. The class started full and after two classes only 5 people would show up.
While many people in the class never showed up, those who did she took note of it helped boost our grades. This is a writing course, so expect to read and write and be graded on it. There were a couple of quizzes, a midterm, and a final. But if you show up to class and take her advice on assignments, this course is great and will boost your GPA.
Tania was good, can't say anything great or bad about her. If you just follow the criteria, use good citation, and provide lots of evidence in your writing you should do good in this class. Sometimes it was a bit boring or uninspiring but either way if you just try at this course you should do well. Fully written midterm and final.
Honestly one of the best professors Ive had. We were asked to read multiple books and each class we would discuss our thoughts about one chapter and answer some of her questions about that chapter. Slides were for discussion back in my time so we didn't even study them, they were just for the discussion. Very accessible inside and outside the class
Tania is one of the nicest profs I've had. GNED 1202 does requires lots of reading (3 books + short stories). I had a question about a grade I received and just for meeting with her she improved it. She cares about her students and understands they are busy. She can lose track of time and talk for a very long time but usually relevant information.
content heavy and time consuming course. She assigns homework on the weekend and expects it to be done Monday. When asked why I received an A rather than an A+ for participation, she said A was the highest grade, so it is impossible to get an A+. Her grading is vague and ambiguous. When asking for help she said she was too busy to help me. Avoid.
The books we read were simple, easy to understand texts. Lectures were boring but showing up did help. She gives out the quiz questions a couple days in advance so quizzes were a breeze. Very easy class, easy GPA booster.
She can also give you an extension if asked for. explains really well. Had a midterm and no final. but she tells you what will be on the midterm. had a writing assignment in class she would allow you to give some written notes on paper, was really helpful. and i am getting B+ but she has to mark 2 more things, which will bring grade- A or A-.
Enjoyed some of the topics chosen by Tania, but she is not a clear grader, and her lectures are boring. I think she grades by vibe. Not great at providing feedback either. Get ready to read, share your insights in class, put down your phones, and no talking to classmates in class!
overall decently fair professor, attendance matters a lot as a lot of pre-test and assignment details are only discussed in class, lectures can be dry but overall topic was not difficult, use consistent citations. Fully written midterm including an essay but no final.
Dr. Mehta had no clear assignment rubric. In her class, she had 2 assignments where she would state "embed panels" and "embed citations", but would not explain what she entirety was looking for when she graded assignments. When asked a question about it, she would just repeat it all over again, but not actually explain or answer the question itself
Tania is a super nice prof, but her lectures are very boring. I wouldn't say attendance is mandatory but she does notice if you are in class or not. Honestly if you show up and just do the readings you will be fine. This class had a lot of readings, but she does gave you enough time to complete them.
