She was great. Extremely helpful.
Course overall was very interesting. Be sure to take notes with her slides, she has a habit of reading off the slides and saying important things at the same time.
Amazing proffessor, one of the better ones Ive had. Attend class because her slides are only skeletons of the notes plus she says interesting things. Her tests are modertae to easy. And shes really nice and is very helpful on feedback of papers.
A very good prof helpful and kind, good notes and very interesting lectures that inspired me to take other courses. She does have a group essay which i wasn't a fan of but a very fair prof.
This prof is all over the place. She jumps back and forth in her lectures; very confusing. Exams are worded awkwardly and also confusing. Both lectures and textbook material are covered in her exams. Not really a GPA booster.
Good prof, gives good notes and clarifies important factors multiple times to ensure understanding. Gives enough detail about the text readings in class that you don't really have to read them. One bad thing is all mult. choice Qs had "none of the above" "all of the above" etc. in their answers. do not like!
Awesomee prof!! At first I wasnt sure about this class just because I didnt know what to expect but Tania is amazing. Although her powerpoints are very good, attending class will help! I bought the text and never read it but still managed to get a good mark.
Such an intriguing woman. Wicked smart, great communicator, funny, down to earth, fair tests, etc. I highly recommend her!
Frustrating to follow in class, often seems disorganized in speaking and repeats simple points frequently. Slides are well laid out but presentation of material is boring and uninspired. Also provides disclaimer in first class that the course is not female based or feminist tailored when it clearly is. Fair exams but no need to attend class.
Course material not as interesting as you'd think, but some of the videos and the guest speaker were good. Class consists of three multiple choice exams, which seems easy, but she words the questions in a tricky way (ex. "Is A true or A and C or all of the above, or none of the above, etc.). Overall, seemed like a nice lady and was approachable.
An ok prof but you can teach yourself the same material in 20 minutes when she takes 3 hours. This course is VERY repetitive. That being said, the material is incredibly easy but the tests are not. Dr. Saj writes terrible exams filled with trick questions. It's a cake walk to get a B but for and A I would not recommend.
Material is very easy and repetitive but exams can be tricky. Still an easy A if you know your stuff. I'd recommend her because she is a good prof who enjoys teaching the material.
Interesting and easy class! Love the set-up 2 midterms and the final. Be careful though, the tests are tricky. However, they're not hard if you go to class and do the textbook readings.
It was a very interesting class and overall Dr. Saj is a good speaker, but at times it was very clear that her personal views were coloring her presentation of the material. Tests were the worst part of this class. They weren't too bad if you came to class and studied, but at times it felt like it was our ability to read that was being tested.
Saj is nice and approachable, she can be a little unclear when explaining things at times. Her test material is easy as long as you watch the movies, attend class and read the textbook readings. You have to pay attention to the small details when studying. 3 multiple choice tests throughout the semester.
Easy class if you attend and do the assigned readings. 3 multiple choice tests throughout all term.
The class was interesting and fairly easy. She does have a good amount of tricky trivia questions which makes it difficult to get an A. That being said, I was very close. Would be a cakewalk to get a B. I enjoyed most of the material in the course but it is obvious that she is teaching from a feminist point of view. Overall pretty good class.
AMAZING professor. Yes, the readings are crucial, as is class attendance, but this class was by far the best I've taken in university so far, and Tania made it a million times more enjoyable. Used it as a senior level option, no regrets. Highly recommended!
This class was common sense. I never used the textbook, just attended lectures and rote good notes on the movies. Attending lecture is a must if you want an A, unless you can get the notes from someone else. She will pull like 4 questions from the textbook but I guessed them and got it right because it was common sense.
THE BEST PROF EVER, She is really freindly and wants to help you. Do not hesitate if you have any concerns. thank you prof Saj.
I'm writing my final exam for this class tomorrow. I think I will finish the course with an A based on my performance in the last 2 midterms. I learned so much in this class and I will carry the knowledge I've gained for the rest of my life. She's a very fair prof and is genuinely passionate about what she teaches. I highly recommend this course.
The best class of my degree. She was so interesting, presented the material so well. She was great. The tests aren't too bad. Just study the notes, and you actually do have to do the readings. But it helps that the material is so interesting.
Great prof! Yes multiple choice can be tricky with her "a and b", "b and c" questions. But if you do the reading, go to class, easy A for sure. Much of the course was common sense.
Professor Saj is an amazing lecturer! Our 2 1/2 hour lectures during spring passed by very quickly. She's keeps things interesting and uses many multimedia outlets for further clarification. Tests can be slightly tricky but not difficult. Her notes were essential. Take a class with her whenever you get a chance to!
Difficult tests. I am an A student in all my other classes, but to my horror did HORRIBLE on her exams. MC questions are difficultly worded and confusing. Content taught is interesting, but she talks a mile a minute. Make sure you read the textbook and go to class. Would not recommend for an easy A despite others suggestions.
Smoking hot older lady. Really passionate about primates. She has an awesome "cutesy" personality. Final was outrageously difficult. Thank God I'm in ENGG and anthropology isn't my field of study.
Lectures are long but pass by fairly quickly as the content is interesting and engaging. Prof is very repetitive about information so that her message is drilled into you!
I highly recommend Dr. Saj and Anth 331 for a GPA booster. Her lectures are very interesting, and she is very clear about what is important on the lectures. There is definitely some memorizing involved, however I find she makes the material so interesting that if you are engaged in lecture you will knock the exams out of the park.
Definitely makes the lectures and subject matter interesting. Reading the textbook and attending lectures should give you a decent mark in the course.
Easy course for sure. Study the lecture slides and read the assigned readings and you will do well. Also, need to go to class as she leaves some blanks on the lecture slides that you have to fill in.
Really nice woman, the class is pretty easy if you show up and listen, and then study the slides. She means well, but sometimes has a problem getting across her point. Recommend!
Dr. Saj is an interesting lecturer and very clear on expectations. Definitely a GPA booster - would definitely recommend going to class and doing readings , but focus on slides for studying. Interesting material as well!
The lectures were a bit long (3 hours) but she kept them interesting. Her lectures seem are common sense, but make sure you memorize everything on the slides, watch all the films and do all the readings before her exams. Exams are a bit tricky, but it's definitely possible to get an A if you put in the effort. All in all it was a great class.
Don't need the textbook. All questions are from the powerpoint slides and make sure you either a) go to class to fill in blanks on the slides, or b) have a friend send you the filled in ones. Take extra time studying the answers to movie questions which she gives you lots of hints for. Tests were very fair, as long as you look over her slides
Great prof and the material is easy but I still went to lectures because it was very interesting. One of the few classes I really enjoyed and I took a lot of the concepts with me in life.
Great classes, lots of videos and other media to break up the lectures. Didn't need to go, but went anyways because they were really interesting. Would definitely take again!!
Dr. Saj is passionate about primatology and she does a great job with laying the material on her slides. Though her tests were worded awkwardly and it's super frustrating to hear repeat simple concepts in class that are simply stated in the slide. This class was probably the worst thing I could have done to my GPA.
Classes were long and not interesting as she generally just read from the slides. Tests were difficult and required a lot of reading. Would not recommend this class for anyone who is looking to boost their GPA
She tends to read off her slides, so I didn't find it a necessity to attend class. She shows movies in class and if you miss them, she puts links on how to access them (also found 95% of them on youtube). If you are good at reading notes and memorizing them, this will be a GPA booster
Clear lectures and exams are straightforward provided you attend lectures and study the slides. Textbook was not very useful.
Dr. Taj's class was boring! She only read off of the slides and says um a lot, its quite annoying. She also is very confusing when she talks, she will say one thing and then contradicts it in the next sentence. She did not post very helpful slides and also she had a very mono-tone voice. I would not recommend taking her class. STAY CLEAR OF HER
I found this class to be super easy! The lectures were long ( 3 hrs) but this was expected since the class is only held once a week. Attending the class is highly recommended and MAKE SURE YOU DO ALL THE READINGS. The wording of the tests can be tricky, but if you have done your readings and memorized the slides, you should be fine! GPA Booster!
There are times when lectures could get boring (as it is a 3 hour class) but overall, it was an interesting class. Tests involve a lot of common sense and in my opinion, a lot of material learned in 211. I never spent more than a day studying for the tests (as I had 4 other non-option courses taken in the same semester) but still got off with an A.
Long, dreary lectures you feel every minute of. She makes no attempt to engage with students at all and is super uncomfortable when teaching. Her understanding of feminism is very 1970s and outdated. The studies she swears by contain methodological holes big enough an undergrad could drive a truck through them. It's embarrassing to be in her class.
Long class, very helpful during office hours, make sure you do the readings. Tests are reasonable but wording can be tricky.
repeats all the important concepts until you memorize them . She is very passionate about primates and conservation which makes the class more engaging and interesting. Relatively easy A. I only read 4 pages of the textbook and studied the slides and got a A. Highly recommended ,really makes you think about issues of conversation.
She makes sure you understand the material and is very passionate, which makes lectures more interesting to attend. If you're looking for a GPA booster this is it if you are good at memorizing.
I took 2 classes with Dr. Saj - the first was great (ANTH331 - recommend it) the second (ANTH311 - Primatology) was ridiculously hard. I am not good at memorizing genus/species etc. so I found the exams REALLY hard. I ended with a D+ (my worst grade in university so far! I have a 3.2 GPA). That being said, Dr. Saj is really friendly and helpful.
She is a very sweet and friendly ladys.
She clearly is knowledgeable, but the transfer of that knowledge to students is terrible. She stutters, loses her train of thought, and just reads off the slides. In lecture her explainations makes it seem like she is uninterested herself. Wouldn't take another class with her as the professor because it's so dry. Interesting material though!
Although her lectures are long and the information is repeated over and over, Dr. Saj only gives 3 exams at 33.3% each that are not cumulative. Attending class helps for the specific examples but her slides and the textbook help to make up the missing information. She is a very nice prof, and helpful when you ask.
It's a good course but her exam questions are quite difficult. 80% of them from what I remember all had "all of the above", "none of the above", "A and D", etc. which keeps you second guessing yourself. And readings are mandatory if you want to get an A letter grade in this course.
Dr. Saj's 3-hour lectures were so incredibly repetitive and boring. While she communicates the material with clarity, and emphasizes the main points, she emphasizes them by repeating each thing maybe 4-5 times. Very annoying. You have to go into office hours to get any sort of clarity if you have a question. She's not good at answering Qs in class.
Sure she repeats certain concepts , but she repeats them with passion making sure that you understand them. You can really tell that she cares about the societal issues she discusses. Read the few pages she assigns and the notes and, will get an easy A and a new perspective on society.
Dr. Saj is really passionate about the subject. The lectures were long and late, but her intriguing tone could keep me in focus. I loved how most of the lectures were accompanied by videos to show live examples of concepts we studied. It is a very interesting and not very difficult class. I would recommend it as a senior elective.
Although she's very monotone and often jumbles her speech, Dr. Saj does a great job of conveying her enthusiasm for the material through her power point slides and the videos she presents. The videos really help your remember the stuff and its a pretty interesting course, tests weren't that tricky and there's only 3 ! Definitely recommend !
She's a great prof. The best way to do well in this class is to memorize the slides and rewatch all the videos. You can find the transcripts online. Exams were fair if you study! I actually really enjoyed her class
horrible, miserable, long boring lectures, goes on and on, 98 slides per lecture,
The lectures can be long and dry at times because she goes slowly and repeats things many times, but it is only because she genuinely wants her students to understand the concepts and do well on the exams. You can tell she's really passionate about what she teaches.
Interesting lectures, but are quite long. I was taken a back by her exams because she "tricks" you, though they are all multiple choice. You will pass if you do the reading, come to class and read each multiple choices carefully during her midterms and final exam.
The prof that did the first half of the course was better than her. She is not loud enough and just reads off the slides. Only 2 exams in the summer so make sure you study hard. Can find the videos online if you feel like skipping class. You aren't asked to recreate the whole monkey chart on the exam, more so give example of something nocturnal etc
Good prof overall. The material isn't hard, but there is a lot of it (slides, videos, readings). Dr. Saj is nice and always willing to help students. Lectures are fairly clear and the constant repetition is useful. Two exams, both are easy if you put the work in and do the readings, review videos, and slides. The content is really interesting.
Prof is great, misterm was ridoculous. Every single question, 4 out of 5 of the answers were "a and b", "c and d", "all of the above" "none of the above". I knew the material WELL and didnt skip any classes, did all the readings but the questions were just silly. For something worth 40%, a little nore straight forwardwould have been great
This class is extremely boring, Tania is very boring to listen too. I would avoid this class at all costs.
This class is very boring, Tania tries very hard to trick you in her exams, many questions had all of the above, none of the above or A and B, or B and C, and it left you second guessing yourself even though you did all the requirements to do well. Not an easy A people, maybe a easy B
I never understood the need to have blanks in the slides to force students to show up to class. If you need to do that to get people to show up then you are not doing a good job. That aside, this prof is really boring to listen to. She repeats the sentences on the slides 5 times. Attending lectures gives little value other than getting the blanks.
The professor is extremely repetitive and the redundancy does not add to the lecture. Her lectures are difficult to sit through. Her tests are confusing and tricky.
The course topic is very interesting and there is a lot to learn in the class but the way it is taught makes it tough to do well. The tests are all multiple choice and the material is not hard but the tests were made over complicated for no reason. It was as if the students were being tested for what they did not know as opposed to what they knew.
Dr. Saj is a good professor that really cares about her students. You don't need to show up to class except to fill in blanks but you HAVE to study for this course. If you don't read ALL the textbook readings, your notes, movies and videos, the test will be difficult to score high because the questions have multiple answers from different sources.
I loved this class, the lectures and readings were very interesting. Saj has such a relaxing voice and she really focusses on the important stuff! Her tests can be a little confusing because she uses the a and b, a and c, types of questions. But if you do the readings, go to class and study her notes you will do just fine! I really enjoyed it!
Very passionate about the topic, HOWEVER is an incredibly boring lecturer. Very repetitive but not in a helpful way, as in she doesn't say something once then explain it another way. Rather she repeats the *same* sentence multiple times and like to "layer", except the layers don't add much value. Wording is tricky on the tests. All multiple choice.
Saj makes a 3 hour lecture as excruciating as possible. She repeats EVERY SENTENCE 3-5 times, even the most basic concepts. Read all the readings CAREFULLY because she tests on small details from them. Her tests are brutal - 90% of the questions have "A&B. None of the above. etc." type questions. 1st MT was worth 40%, which was more than the final.
Great professor, interesting class! The tests are tricky, but if you come to lecture, read the textbook, and study for the tests, you should be fine!
Class material was very easy, tests were more than fair and prof made it clear which things were going to be tested. She is very repetitive, she does this to make clear which concepts are needed to know but I found it annoying, a little pandering for a 300 level course. Either way easy option to take, just 3 tests and just do your readings.
Test are straightforward, and really care about the students . highly recommend
She constantly repeats hersekf which is frustrating. Has way too many slides for the material being presented. At least she gives you the slides ahead of time and really you don't need to attend class as long as you do the readings, watch the films on youtube and look over the slides. Course also way too big for a spring course 200 is crazy.
Caring prof, treats students like people. Some might find her MC tests tricky, but she is very clear on her learning objectives and you should do well if you study the material thoroughly. She also makes the readings fairly concise so they arent overwhelming. Passionate about the subject. Thanks Tania for a great class!
Extremely caring and approachable prof! As others have mentioned, she does repeat herself a lot but that's because that material is very important and most likely will be tested. She provides lots of resources to help you do well in the course. Very understanding and kind lady. Definitely recommend!
Lectures are boring because she's extremely repetitive and the stuff she teaches seems like it's common sense, except her tests are tricky and quite specific. You need to attend lectures because she emphasizes and states important things outside of the PPT. She also tests from the textbook so I recommend reading that.
Course is very lecture-heavy, with lots of content. However, given that I took this course in Spring, this could be a factor. Tania as a professor is very accessible outside of class and reiterates key points for emphasis. Very knowledgeable about the subject and is a good choice for this course.
I did not think I would enjoy this course as much as I did, but that was thanks to Dr. Saj! The course and the textbook is very convoluted and there is a lot information you need to understand, not just know - but Dr. Saj organized it to make it easier to handle. Her passion and knowledge of the field also made sitting in her lectures worthwhile.
She's very kind but her tests are made to trick you. Lots of reading and not an easy GPA booster.
Shes really not as bad as some people say she is. She does go over important points more than once but that makes sense and helps some people. The only reason why I wouldnt take her class again is due to the fact that she does try to trick you on exams which doesnt seem fair. Its definitely NOT a gpa booster. Its a difficult class so beware.
The content that she taught in class was common sense, I sincerely do not think I learned a single new thing in any lecture. But then, the midterms were very specific, and asked questions regarding topics and concepts that were not covered in class, nor in the textbook. Save yourself the L and don't take this class with Saj.
Tania is a nice person but dear god are her exams the absolute worst. The content itself is an absolute joke but she makes her question so theres all of the above, none of the above, A and B only, etc. for almost all of the questions. The questions from the readings are so specific that you begin to question yourself. Not a GPA booster!!
Tania Saj is absolute worse! Do not take her class. Her final had 48 question I which 98% of the questions consisted all of the above, none of the above, A and B only and etc. I studied so hard for her final and even though the marks arent back yet I know for sure I got many wrong due to that. What a waste of money and energy.
This is the first and LAST time that I take Anthropology after taking this course! The work load is not large but the tests are insane. Im convinced the purpose of all the exams is to trick you and not actually test your knowledge. HOURS of studying just to get a mediocre grade with questions that were designed to make you fail....
I literally feel so depressed after seeing the mark I received. Hours of studying and just because how the exam was formed I got confused and the exam went to hell. Never again am I taking a class EVER with this prof. Shes the absolute worst.
Even though the final was not cumulative (Three chapters) Tania Saj seemed to make the exam so complicated by adding B OR C or ALL OF THE ABOVE and terms like that in her exam with every single 48 questions that it got really complicated and ppl the average of the non cumulative exam was 76% (B) so you can imagine :)
It's a good course if you go to class and read the textbook. The readings are dry, but she guides you through the readings in her lecture notes. She repeats things over and over again. A lot of the material is common sense which is good, but her exams are tricky.
Never taking a class with her again
Her tests are NOT FAIR. DON'T TAKE A CLASS WITH HER!!
331 has simple content, nothing too hard. We review interesting articles sometimes but other times, the info is straightforward and obvious. The worst thing in this class are Saj's exam questions, the multiple-choice options makes you rethink your entire life :( I feel like she makes up for the easy content by complicating her exam questions -_-
Made the mistake of taking another class with her. She repeats herself a lot during lectures and her tests are definitely tricky. Sadly not an easy gpa booster..
Avoid Tanias classes if you can! Shes insanely boring, her lectures consist of her reading off her slides which dont contain much more than a surface view of the material. Her tests are multiple choice where the answers are all all of the above, B and C, etc. I could learn better by spending five minutes on google.
Honestly I feel like a lot of people are criticizing her a little too unfairly. MC exams are a bit tricky. However, if you study your notes in DETAIL (dont just gloss over) and memorize, as well as read the textbook you should do well, especially if you are good at multiple choice questions. The repetitiveness makes it easy to grasp the key ideas.
This class was ok. I showed up, I passed, but it wasn't interesting or novel. Tania was really repetitive but also went too fast, had cluttered slides, and just gave too much information overall. I didn't even buy the textbook and most test questions on readings were pretty easy to infer. I got my credits but I don't recommend it.
Dr. Saj is a really nice lady and her course is super organized. If you have basic MC test-taking skills you can narrow down the answers and shouldn't be confused by "a&b", "a&c", "all of the above" choices. She was so sweet and offered us options when we went online where one was opting out of the course with your current grade (1st midterm mark).
I was nervous reading everyone else's reviews about her exams before having her this semester, but if you study, her exams are completely fair. Sure, it wasn't an extremely fun lecture to attend but no 3 hour lecture is. Just memorize her lecture notes like the back of your hand and you'll ace it. At least for ANTH 311 her exams aren't bad at all
She is a very caring prof. She would repeat definitions multiple times so that everyone understands the concept and has the chance to write down the important details. I am currently taking ANTH 331 with her and her approach to online learning is the best one I have seen so far. She is an amazing prof who wants all of her students to be successful!
Tania is a great prof. Her online lectures are organized, clear and the course material is very interesting. If you do the lectures and the readings, preparing for exams will just be a simple review of the notes. Great prof and an interesting class to do well in and is not very difficult.
Just 3 tests, all multiple choice. The class was fairly easy, once you know the concepts you will do well on the exam. Each test was only really based on like 3 lectures with some extra readings and short videos. I pretty much did all of the lectures as soon as she posted them. If everything was available I could have finished this class in 2 week
Any class is harder when moved online, but I found Dr. Saj's testing methods confusing. Less than an hour to complete an exam is unfair, even by non-pandemic standards. She tends to use the "all of the above" or "none of the above" quite liberally in her tests so watch out for those. Good material, subpar execution.
I loved this class and the prof. There were only 3 midterms which were fairly easy and based off on like 3 lecture videos and a few movies each. There are readings but the midterms are more heavily based on the videos and the content was super clear and organized despite the difficulties of COVID. The lecture material itself is super interesing.
So I am not an A student but tbh she is one of the best profs on this crazy university. She is caring and 98% of the exams questions were from the notes. Get ready for the " all of the above" and " none of the above" options on all her questions. One word manipulation might change the whole answer so be careful. All the best
Dr. Saj is a really great person, she actually cares about you being successful in her course and likes to repeat important terms so you understand the content. Read the textbook first, listen to the lectures, then skim the notes before the tests and you will get an A. It is not an Easy A, but definitley doable if you apply yourself.
Dr Tania Saj is amazing! She makes the course content very clear. Big ideas are broken down in a way that makes it so comprehensive. She could teach these university-level concepts to a 5-year-old, and this child would understand it. She's a powerful instructor. But I do suggest you still put in some study time and do your readings.
I am usually an A student for ANTH courses but ANTH 331 is by the far the hardest for me (maybe bc its online). I was so close to failing my midterms. She is an organized prof but her slides are way too lengthy mostly quoting long paragraphs from other authors. Apart from that, there are too many additional readings to read outside lecture.
This class is only easy for ANTH majors. Her slides are not concise nor succinct to help students learn effectively. She literally quotes long paragraphs from other authors and puts her scripts on every slide (total 80 + slides) and then read off her slides verbatim. She's organized but bad at delivering the lectures.
Super organized. Graded on two midterms and a final exam. Very reading-heavy and tests have wording that is confusing so read questions carefully! Her lectures were prerecorded and she made sure to remind us to take breaks. Overall, I would take another class with her, maybe in person one day!
i love saj. she is so considerate and nice to students during the transition to zoom. if you put in effort and not treat this as a brain dead gpa booster, you get an easy A
Very knowledgeable on the topic and accessible and her transition to adapting to the new style of teaching due to covid was smooth.
Dr. Saj is one of the best professors at U of C, she is genuinely so caring and I wish she taught more classes in my major as I took ANTH 311 as an elective. The class consists of 2 midterms and a final, her tests are extremely fair. Overall an AMAZING professor, a great person and an interesting and fun elective to take!
Multiple choice tests, but they require good reading comprehension. Also important to read the textbook chapters as many questions drew from them. Overall a very interesting subject and a straightforward, comprehensible class. I really recommend!
I loved this class and professor. Watch every lecture video and do the readings. Tania is kind, well-organized and very clear in her lecture notes and videos. The content is interesting!
do the lectures and readings and you will be fine. Shes just reads her slides but its interesting
Tania is an amazing prof and very caring. She makes sure to add practice question before each midterm. Also holds QandAs if you need help with anything. Her powerpoints are quite repetitive which really helps you know the important details. I would take another class with her for sure!!
Dr. Saj is amazing. She structures the course very well, and delivers the content in a clear and concise way. Her midterms/finals were also easy if you actually look at the slides and do the required readings.
Genuinely one of the best profs Ive had throughout all my time at University. You can tell she really put in effort to make her lectures flow well even with everything online. Although there is a decent amount of readings to do many of them are interesting which makes them much easier.
I loved this class with Dr Saj! Two midterms and a final for the whole course. Lectures are prerecorded, interesting content, and can watch on 2X speed. Tests are fair and open book (info taken directly from slides). My fav option taken so far at uni! She's very nice, grade booster class, and the content is thought provoking. would highly recommend
i love this prof so much, it was my 2nd class with her and her lectures are so organized and clear, it makes the content easy. grades consisted of 2 multiple choice exams that werent too bad as long as you make good notes and do the readings. if you put in a little work, this class is an easy A. prof is also great with accessibility and feedback.
Rushes through much of her lectures
Dr. Saj is amazing, there is ALOT of content but she makes it so interesting. You can tell she puts a lot of effort into teaching the course and making it enjoyable. Her lectures are clear. Her tests are a bit tricky but they are fair I'd say. Some questions can be confusing. She always answers questions and u can tell she cares for her students
Do not love that her courses are very lecture heavy and only 3 tests make up your entire grade but she is clear in her descriptions and there is no difficult work just takes time, an easy A as long as you spend some time on it.
This class is not an easy A by any means. You'd need to do the textbook readings and the readings on a her slides but that's about it. Her lecture slides are very detailed and you don't actually need to go to class. So long as you have the time to do the readings required, you'd find her tests super easy.
Would've never taken this class if I never needed to! She seems to love the course, yet does not have the class set up to keep students engaged, she reads off the slides and makes sure you are ready to memorize her readings, slides and videos in order to pass this class. Discussions/assignments would keep the class engaging and boost grades.
If you're genuinely interested in the topic, take this class! This is not an easy A course, and have to do an average amount of readings. But you can tell that she loves what she's doing and what she's teaching. The lecture is pretty heavy since the class was held once a week. But other than that, I enjoyed this course a lot!
Tania is a very caring prof and goes extra mile for her students. The slides are pretty long but are very interesting and she makes 3 hours class very interesting. The readings are few but make sure you read them as she SHE DOES test on them. The midterms were fair. She talks at a very fast pace but the content is actually very interesting.
Dr. Saj is really nice and a good lecturer. But her exams are ridiculous. I took 313 with her in a spring session. The grade was based on a midterm (50%) and final (50%). The exams were multiple choice but instead of 4 choices there were 5 for each question. I did all the readings and attended every class and I got a C+. GPA killer.
Content heavy with lots of readings. Overall very interesting course where you actually learn something. Dr. Saj is an amazing lecturer and willing to help the students. Exams are all MCQs and can be a bit tricky if you havent done readings properly and understood the core concepts, which is easy if you attend lectures and take notes.
Very passionate about her teaching, but tends to speed through everything. Pretty easy to pass as long as you keep up with the slides and videos. Attendance or lack thereof won't affect your success.
easy class, decent professor. Lectures are long but straight forward. I enjoyed the movies. no need to show up to class. just read the lectures, readings and videos and you'll breeze through it. Exams were tricky but fine if you studied the material. definitely a GPA booster imo
Dr. Saj was great at teaching and so organized. Her exams were also fair. I definitely recommend taking a class with her.
She mostly reads off the slides, so going to lectures is unnecessary. Besides that, she is very fair, and her exams are not too difficult overall. You will do fine if you learn the slides and the readings well.
Dr. Saj was amazing! She had zoom office hours before each test, and would mention little tips during her lectures on things to prepare for, for the test. The tests were average in difficulty but she made them so much easier. Definitely recommend taking her!
Had very interesting lectures and was very knowledgeable on the subject. Her tests were fair and straight forward. I really enjoyed her class and appreciated her kindness. Great prof to have would highly recommend.
The lecture notes are very dense, and the textbook really only re-iterates the same information. Saj spends every lecture reading off the slides almost verbatim. While it's nice to have all the content accessible without mandatory lectures, it would be nice if she showed any level of enthusiasm or added novel information during classes.
Saj's lectures are dense but engaging. The textbook is helpful, and unstuck ai was a game-changer for test prep. Attendance is mandatory but the workload is manageable. An interesting course if you're invested in the subject.
I've taken two classes with her so far and she's 100% my favorite professor ever. Her slides are super detailed, and you can tell that she's really passionate about what she teaches. I wish more professors would care so much about actually teaching content to their students. Definitely recommend her!
Took ANTH 311 Last year, one of my favourite courses so far, and one of my favourite profs. I'm a bio/geo major so it may have been easier for me then other majors but she explains everything well and is clearly very passionate about primates. 5/5 hope to take some courses with her next year.
3 online open book tests. 1st was good, 2nd had a decline in the class average because the questions were worded so weird, it was hard to understand what was being asked, 3rd was between the 2. Lots of info on her slides, but know where to find the general concepts and you'll be fine. You can tell she loves the subject and her passion for it shows.
Great class if you find the topic interesting; lots of different examples and cases. You could pass by just reading the textbook, but the class isn't bad if you use it to review because it's mostly the prof reading off the slides. Overall pretty easy material to grasp and the tests don't have any unexpected information.
Super sweet and great lecturer! It's worthwhile to go to class since she explains everything really well and goes through extra information about the testable videos! Online quizzes were easy, but focus on any key topics she highlighted in class and the textbook chapters!
Tania Saj's class is extremely challenging, mainly because the course is graded entirely based on three exams. Some questions also feel intentionally tricky, which doesn't reflect the material taught in lectures. . I would not recommend taking this class if you want a fair assessment of your knowledge.
beware she makes it impossible to pass
SHE WANTS YOU TO FAIL ON PURPOSE
SHE WANTS HER STUDENTS TO FAIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHE WANTS HER STUDENTS TO FAIL
NEVER AGAIN
She is the reason I failed this semester
I would not recommend taking this class
