It was really important to her that we LEARNED and made sure we did. She was interesting and had real life experiences she shared. This is a teacher that really cares about students and their education.

Could have helped more when there problems with class groups. But she is an OK teacher I guess. The test are hard but they are open book.

I would take this Prof. anytime. I wish she taught more classes. Great class, time flew by. She cares about her students and teaching. If you don't do well it's your fault. Show up, pay attention, do your work you'll do great. I hope she has many more years of teaching.

This has been the only teacher at Macomb who actually teaches you something. Test are somewhat difficult but she give study guides and reviews before a test-also gives a lot of extra credt. Very interesting class as well. Wish she taught other classes.

This is my 2nd class with her & she is probably the best teacher I have had at MCC. She has a great interest & it shows when she teaches. There are many exercises & activities to help learn the material & book was interesting. Highly recommened, hope she can become full time. May come back & retake the class just for fun :) (after my degree tho)

she graded way too easy, sometimes I felt like she didn't even look through the work. I passed with an A, this class was like a middle school class, WAY TO EASY for a college course.

Very hard class if you aren't great with computer sftware. A lot of work. I took this class with HER because I had her before and she's a caring teacher. Very patient with the students that were falling behind but not so much that the rest of us were bored.

The best teacher at this college! Made the time fly by and for the first time ever I didn't want to miss a class and it went to 11PM!!!! She gives a lot of work and doesn't put up with BS but it is fun and u can use it in life right away. Take her if u can.

She is a very good teacher and her information can be used immediately. I took it because I'm working in the hospitality field and now I'm thinking of getting a degree in it! Take it to see if your interested and are looking for a direction. If you don't like this class, don't get into the industry

Very helpful, kind, caring teacher who is dedicated at what she does for a living. Profess Balcom was very happy at all times very educated in her teaching her lectures were very nice to the point.

She was very helpful if you asked for it. Team project was majority of grade but way more than enough time to work on it. Attendance is mandatory, but class is always cut short. Overall an easy class if you put 2 hours into it per week outside of class. Tests are easy if you study what she says. Do the work and you're golden.

Great Professor Fair Helpful

Ms. Balcom ran a smooth online class. Weekly discussion forum, exercise, maybe a video, and a quiz. That was pretty much the routine. Quiz's were kind of tough if you just skimmed through the chapter so make sure you read it all. No complaints, good class. I would recommend her.

This is one of the best teachers at Macomb. I took her on a recomendation from another professor. She is helpful, caring, and I learned more in this class than most others. Plus it was fun! We played a simulation game which was interesting. If you have the chance to take her do it!! Definitely recommend her.

very nice person and cares about you doing well. She will work with you if you need it. relates information to real life. Clears up any question you might have. the test are not hard. Study the slides and you will be just fine. Do final paper throughout the classes, makes it much easier

Mrs. Balcom ran an extremely organized and detailed online class. She was easily accessible with clear feedback and I learned so much. The work we did was not busy work like in some classes and helped me in my current job. The self-assessments are fun! I hope to take more of her classes before transferring.

Young teacher, has a business background in Marketing I believe, her tests were pretty easy for me, she picks your group members for the project which is 100 points (50 paper50 presentation), offered extra credit, great speaker, etc. If you have a functional brain, you can easily get an A

Great teacher, I would recommend her to any business student. You have in class assignments that you have to be in class for in order to get credit but they're easy. Light hw& one presentation that all management classes do. She grades good & if you do your study guide and study from them you should do good on the test. Ask for help if you need it.

Anyone who says Ms. Balcom is a tough teacher just isn't a serious student and looking for a class they can just do nothing and get an A in. Yes there's work, it's a class, but it's nothing crazy. I've taken three of her classes, one online and two on campus and I don't regret it at all...I'm planning on taking another class of her next semester.

Ms. Balcom is an awesome professor. Shes not easy, but she will help you do well. I learned so much from her classes. I had her for two business classes and loved them both. I would highly recommend her. Great teacher, great lady!

Honestly the most caring professors at MCC. Everything is straight forward and clarified on the first day. Any questions you might have will be answered. no late work is accepted, but, being in college, that should be a given. EVERYTHING in this class is useful and I wouldn't recommend any other teacher. Not my first class and on to the next one!!

I love this teacher! At first she seem a little arrogant but really down to earth, and anything you need help with she's there. I have taken her for many management courses, so if your major is business get to know her! You have to do the work to pass, no exceptions! What you put in, is what you shall receive. Do the work, study for the tests......

Pretty much the same routine. Assignments due on W, TH & Saturday. Tests on Sunday. 500 word essays. Tough grader. Does not give much feedback about your homework. Just shows you the rubic cube.

Easy grader, didn't buy book and still passed the class (most assignments are not out of book- just common sense issues to write on) and answered emails timely. Honestly, this is the easiest online class ever: 1 assignment due Wednesday, 1 paper due Friday, 1 paper due on Saturday, and EASY quizzes due on Sunday. Great schedule for working adults.

A really good teacher online. The feedback was quick. Every time I emailed her I got a comment back quickly. Very thorough notes and commented on my work so I didn't make the same mistake twice. Good writing assignments that were useful and not busy work like in some other other online classes. Would definitely take her again.

Love this prof. Enjoyed her class and all the fun activities we did. Do the study guide because it helps a bunch and you get extra credit for it.

There are 4 assignments due weekly. As long as you get your assignment in, this class is really easy. It is a lot of essays though. You must log in each day. The professor was always quick to respond. Sometimes it take a while for her to grade an assignment but this was a great class. I learned alot!

I've had Mrs. Balcom for at least 3 or 4 management classes. In my opinion she's the best teacher at Macomb. She's down to earth enough that you feel like you can talk to her and open up yet stern enough to make you understand the importance of what you're doing. I'd recommend her time and time again.

Always posts EVERYTHING online if you miss class. Even gave the option of going to one of her later sections if 930 was too early or we couldn't make it at that time. Great marking rubrics and compassionate in grading. One of my favorite profs for sure. Give exam outlines allowing you to earn over 100% on exams if you study. HIGHLY recommended.

very organized and helpful. Amazing lecture videos explaining everything. The software was tough at first but she was quick replying if you had a question. If you read through the notes she gives it makes perfect sense. This class was online in only eight weeks so expect about 6 or 8 hours of work each week. So glad I took her.

Best class ever. Most of the class is focused on a leadership project which you get most of the semester to work on. Simulation is group work in class and you pick your team. Everyone loves her except the couple kids trying to BS her. I wish I would have known of her a year ago. Plus bonus is no costly textbook!

Great teacher. She shares her experiences and is always willing to help or talk to you after class. She gives homework about every other week but it is pretty easy grading. The tests are average but if you do the study guide she gives you extra credit. Will take her again for another class.

Enjoyed this class. Workload was a bit heavy but still manageable and spread out nicely throughout the week/course. Made the class fun and relevant to real experiences. Great with feedback and very open to different trains of thought. Would definitely recommend. The Professor was personable even in the online setting and seemed to care for students

I really liked her! the few complaints i have about her is that there are a lot of papers to write throughout the semester and she is extremely slow at grading. She is a pretty easy grader on the papers and the big presentation you have to give. tests are SUPER easy! she gives you a study guide for the tests and if you do it you'll do fine.

Tanya Balcom is one of the better professors at Macomb. She is thorough, she knows the material, and she knows how to teach it. Her background is in restaurant management and marketing, and it shows. If you are honest with her, she will work with you if you run into problems during the semester. It also helps that she's easy on the eyes, too.

Professor Balcom was and still is my favorites professor at Macomb. She's so nice and makes the class really interesting. Ive taken her about 3 times and have always received a B or higher. I cant believe she has negative reviews on here. The subjects aren't even that hard. Pay attention and you pass honestly!

Great teacher if you yourself care and put in the work. All the bad reviews more than likely come from the same students who wait last minute, do not bring materials, and forget there is a test.

Show up, listen to lecture, and do study guides you will pass! Seems like a lot of work first day of class but she's a very lenient grader and more concerned with whether or not you understand the subject than grammar mistakes. Very smart lady!!!

In her lectures, Professor Balcom covered everything we needed to know (and hinted at what one of the two short-answer questions that would appear) for the upcoming test. Additionally, she presented a myriad of examples of the concepts we were learning, including in-class activities (graded) that clarified the more difficult concepts.

She has got to be one of the best professors I have had so far at Macomb. The class is easy as long as you pay attention to her lectures. If you don't like to participate in class, you may not like this class. She makes the learning environment very comfortable, and you will get to know everyone in your class very well. I would 100% take again

I took this 8 week course online. Remember that a 16 week is put into 8 weeks so be prepare for a lot of work. In my opinion, she is a great professor. If you read and do the work, you'll pass.

This was a great class! The textbook was very easy to understanding. I wish I didn't rent it. Professor Balcom gives great feedback on the assignments. You will absolutely have to read the textbooks and her weekly outlines, all of which are very interesting and applicable not only to your professional career but everyday life.

T. Balcom is a great instructor, she is a very respectful and professional person. Exams are not hard if you read the book at least once before the test. group projects are easy, just make sure to turn in everything on time. assignments are easy there maybe a few, but simple and easy.

I loved this professor. She was very considerate toward students and passionate about teaching and management. The homework is very manageable. Any of the bad reviews she's gotten are probably from students who didn't put in enough effort. Easy A if you follow the rubrics and participate in discussion posts. I would definitely take her again.

Professor balcom was really good. I had her online and got an A. Easy work and answers emails fast. Make sure you get Connect and the assignments are simple. The only negative is you have to do a speech in front of the class.

If you are good with online courses, this would be the professor to take if you need a MGMT2000 class. Instructions on course work were clearly defined and easy to understand. The instructor provided additional videos and handouts to help you understand the material. If I had reviewed the "handouts" from the beginning, I would've received an A.

Shes one of the best professors Ive ever had!! shes nice and is a great teacher. If you have any questions she answers them and never leaves you confused. All the bad reviews are from people who just want a easy A.

I had 4 classes this semester and Mrs Balcom was by far the best. Class was very organized, lectures were on zoom, interesting activities, no big final and it was an easy A. Take her if you can. I will look for her name again.

I was a little worried at first taking this professor because she seemed very stern but shes actually really great the class was easy as long as you do your homework and participate I feel like shes a very easy grader when it comes to papers I would definitely recommend taking her.

loved her class so much everything so organized and shes super nice. grading is a little bit on the hard side but shes super fair and gives lots of feedback to what you did wrong or right. I would definitely take this class again shes a great teacher for business

Balcom was very accommodating and flexible with several assignments that I had to turn in late. She is prompt with her responses to emails. Grades took a little longer than expected to be provided, but all in all she's a great professor

This class was very easy as long as you stayed on top of things. The tests were fairly easy and she would allow a one sided cheat sheet for the test. You revive a final project with a group at the end of the semester. That was also really easy.

Very nice teacher. I enjoyed having video lectures. if you watch the lectures she tells you in there what questions are on the test which saves you time studying and you get a page of notes to use on test. Assignments were right from the online book. I only emailed her once and she returned it same day. Will def take her again!

Anyone who says differently is just lazy. Professor has clearly stated all directions. Same assignments are due the same days every week. She does not answer messages but other than that this class is an easy one. You will have to buy the book unfortunately because you need the 20-digit code that comes with it even if you found it somewhere else.

has been extremly helpful. Meets with students outside of class and this is an online class. Went from a C to A in a couple weeks with her help. There are 2 homeworks every week which is good in case you mess one up so it won't hurt your grade. She gave extra credit to show up at a college event.

She is honestly a great professor, she is willing to work with you. I would 100 percent take her, the work load is not heavy and she is honestly so helpful.

I honestly thought she was an okay teacher. My only problems with her was she was kinda rude and faulted you if you disagreed with her. Other than that it is impossible to get a bad grade in her class you just have to do the homework. If you fail all the exams and do all your homework you will still get a good grade in her class.
