This lady is terrible! I think she was misinformed and thought she was teaching a 400 level class, because she wants everyone to know as much about Lit I as she does. She gives notes entirely to quick and does not review for test. I am an all A student and received a 54 on the first test. Unless you are just trying to fail, DO NOT TAKE THIS LADY!!!
I am currently taking her Am Lit class & am disgusted by my experience so far. She is way too demanding! She will not even review for the test & the tests are soo hard. She gives notes endlessly & will make you stay until the minute class is supposed to end. I'm disappointed that I was assigned this teacher! Do NOT take her unless Lit is your life!
I Think She Is A Great Teacher, I Would Recommend Her If Your Taking Oral Communications. Show Up On Time, Read The Assigned Portion In Your Textbook, Do The Assignments And Don't Disrupt In Class And You Will Be Fine.
Taking this teacher for the first time in college is a bad choice. She does not help you and expects you to know everything she knows. Do not take her class at all! If you expect her to be one on one with you do not take her! Avoid the class at all costs!
Enjoyed her speech class very much. Just follow the syllabus exactly, show up to class on time, and do not distract or cause problems in her class and it will be simple. Got out of class early most days. Very strict when it comes to grading speeches. Overall great teacher in my opinion.
Do not ever take this class!!!
I just finished her English 101 class, and came out with an "A". She doesn't use traditional grading so you have no clue what you have until the class is over. I personally enjoyed the class! You will be using twitter, so just get used to it, if you tweet when you're supposed to, blog on-time, improve, and turn sticky notes in, you'll be fine!!
Mrs. Sasser is an AMAZING teacher. I have had trouble passing other English class but passed hers easily with an A. She is extremely helpful but does not help you if you have excuse after excuse. If you want to have fun and want to learn about outside media I recommended to TAKE HER CLASSES!!!
She doesn't take the time to help everyone. She is easily agitated if your not understanding something. Her policies are unclear ,if your late or don't have a ticket to class she will kick you out, even if she tweeted something 30 min. before class. Hate this class. positive thing: she can be nice when she wants to be.
I took Ms. Sasser for my hybrid EH101 class. I loved her class! I loved doing the blogs. I even go to her for help now. She likes for people to talk and participate in class. She can be a little unclear at times, but that is just if you dont listen! She is an awesome teacher! I highly recommend her!
Her attendence policy is absolutely RIDICULOUS, she has the attititude of a high school student, and expects you to know everything that she does.
This is such an easy class! As long as you do the blog homework and give your speeches, you'll pass. She doesn't critique every little thing about a speech, so it's not bad at all. Unless you're lazy, this is an easy A.
I took her for eh101 and had no trouble at all. Just do your assignments & participate in class. If you struggle on essays she allows re-writes so just put in the effort and you will survive. I made it out with an A you can to. Also, she finds texting in class disrespectful and she will kick you out which is pretty entertaining when it happens.
Mrs.Sasser is a great teacher. She reminds you that this is college and its up to us to keep up with all of our work. This semester we participated in role playing on an internet website and it was amazing.
Pretty good teacher overall. Not someone good to take if you like to skip class very often.
Since it is hybrid, you have to be ambitious and proactive.
DO NOT TAKE HERE FOR EH 101!!! Her whole criteria is based off of a game!! Literally you earn XP and you don't know what your grade is!!!! You have to do "quests" and at first they are fairly easy, but at the end they become absolutely ridiculous! Please pick someone else! I wish I did!!!
I took her for EH141, I did good, but fair warning don't get behind on anything no way to get ahead and impossible to know how to grade.
Her class is set up strangely- like an RPG game, which was okay at first but after a while it was hard to understand and keep up with. She's very disorganized and doesn't match the dates with her syllabus and her website as well as google+ very well (by the way you will have to use google+).
I have really enjoyed Mrs. Sasser's class. She does not like for people to miss class a lot or show up late a lot. Her class is not hard. She expects you to do the reading assignments and everything else required. A lot of group work. She isn't harsh when grading speeches. As long as you put the time in and do it then she is lenient. Very nice.
This class was terrible for a lot of us that were in it. Would not take any other class with her. Would request independent study or find any other option available.
Her EH101 class is set up in a Hybrid format like a MMO-RPG. It's an interesting idea but can lead to misunderstandings in those who do not already understand that sort of thing prior to taking this class. She will not accept anything less than your full effort. Show up to class, do the work, make an A. Dry cut path to success.
This is by far the worst teacher ever. Her online English class is set up like a game and you have to finish each leg at the end of the week which she doesn't tell you. You can't move to the next work utill she grade previous work so don't wait last min to do your work because she only grades on curtain days and miss a lot of day. Overall terrible
The game is designed like a game and that sounds exciting at first however, this is an English class not a game design. You learn more about the specifics of creating a game than you do English and that's really frustrating if you didn't come to learn about game desig . Entire in class is group projects that aren't graded. Hard hybrid class.
Mrs. Sasser is not a good teacher to take. She makes assignments way more complicated than they should be. I took the hybrid class set up as a game. You learn all about game mechanics and very little about English. She treats you like you're in high school. She is unapproachable due to attitude. Has unrealistic expectations sometimes. DO NOT TAKE!
Hardest class and she cusses you out
She is never helpful and broad about everything. She expects you to know every direction before it is told and if you ask her a question you catch a bad attitude.
Tanya Sasser is a terrible teacher. She does nothing but complain about her personal life, and her grading criteria is garbage. You cannot move on to new assignments until you meet her standard on the one before. Would NOT take her again. If she's your only option, take it next semester.
The class was a refreshing take on the same old boring English class. This was set up like a role-playing game, which made it actually enjoyable. As long as one follows the directions, and participates, the class isn't very difficult. She is fair, and all she requires is a little respect and effort... if you are lazy, might as well move on.
TERRIBLE. do NOT take unless absolutely necessary, never explains things well, changes the criteria requirements on assignments even after you have turned something in, rude
I don't know why her reviews are so low, but I would say she's something of an acquired taste. She is very understanding and is often very engaging in discussion. If you like talking about things you've read, she's your teacher.
Shes rude, she picks very few out of the class that she likes, isnt specific about certain assignments, gives you lots and lots of busy work. half the class was treated like we were stupid. EH 101 is an easy class, but she made it impossible
I thought she was a good teacher that genuinely cared about what you learned in her class. If you want to get a good grade in class do your homework! Essays arent too bad if you dont procrastinate.
I had her for speech, and as long as you show up and do the work, it's an easy A. She'll say you need the book, but you never bring it to class, and I never read it at all. As far as speeches go, get up there and say something pertaining to your topic, and you'll make a 100. She can get an attitude, but she's not terrible.
I would recommend taking the class with a friend, in order to pass. The professor engages in maledictive behaviors!, using one's grades as leverage. The list of issues that plagues one's grades due to vagueness in grading style is beyond acceptable. This class uses classical EH101 info, but lacks development. Google the word "rhetoric"that'd be it.
Find another instructor. Disorganized and grading depends on her like or dislike of you. More like an IT or web design class than Lit, yet her own syllabus is illegible due to poor design. Use of social media platforms mandatory-unacceptable in an academic setting unrelated to those fields. Love English classes. First Lit class I have ever HATED.
Be ready to write essays and work on canvas. you have to work hard in this class, but she is very nice. She will help you if you need it.
Was the worst teacher Ive had at JSU. Had more homework in her class than I did in the following 2 semesters. I wouldnt take her if she was the only one available, I would take it at another college.
Does entirely too much.
Awful teacher dont take her. Don't take this lady's class the worst english teacher I ever had. Doesnt explan things well and lies about when sae says she likes your paper only to give people falling grades
Mrs. Sasser knows what she is talking about. As long as you pay attention to what she says and take her feedback seriously you will do good in her class. Although, sometimes her instructions are unclear about essays. But as long as you do the online work and the readings you will pass her class. Also, she takes attendance everyday!! Dont be late!
NEVER TAKE HER! She is easily the worst and most unprofessional teacher I have ever had. She will fool you at the beginning of the semester by being kinda funny, but beware, she will turn into a monster by the end. She is very unreasonable and very difficult to work with. If she is your only option, then wait until next semester.
Absolutely worst person I have ever met in education. No matter what you do she will not let you get any extra credit and no matter how many times you submit an assignment its never good enough. Constant papers. Promises an easy A at the beginning of the class but you will be lucky to pass. Doesnt actually teacher you anything during the class.
Worst teacher I've had, my class is fully online and she doesn't post lectures or resources to help us succeed. All she does are post literary documents and have us take quizzes on the readings, and the quizzes are literally just "use examples and evidence from the text". I learned nothing from this class and I WOULD NOT recommend taking her class.
Not very specific with instructions or criticisms. Not good.
She gives very rude and disrespectful feedback. Anything you do for her will not be enough. I worked my butt off to get that B- and she still made me feel like I was dumb. She brings political views into her classroom and is over all very disrespectful. HIGHLY recommend not taking her class.
I had multiple encounters with this professor where she was just rude. Her annotations on all papers seemed snarky and petty. Had trouble getting in contact with her. Be prepared because whatever work you do no matter how good you think it is it won't be.
Shes a good teacher but you have to be a good student to know that.
She is an AWFUL teacher. She gave me a 0 for going two lines over the limit. HIGHLY do NOT recommend her and she doesnt even deserve a job here.
I did not have a good experience with her.
She was very rude. I have to retake the class all because she failed one of my papers. The reasoning for the failed essay was not even by the rubric. She was hard to talk to. I do not think anyone should take any of her classes. She needs to learn how to talk to people.
If youre searching this to find if Sasser is a good teacher... ill tell you right now she is AWFUL. Do not take her class if you want to succeed. She makes you feel stupid and brings politics and very unprofessional ideas into the classroom. Very strict grader and doesnt help you at all.
I dropped the class after two weeks. The first thing she says about the class is that you have to spend between 7 and 12 hours PER WEEK in order to succeed in her class. The craziest part is that she is right. Crazy amount of homework to do weekly, tough to communicate with, and really strict. DO NOT EVER TAKE HER
This professor literally does the most. And i mean that in every bad way possible. Not sure how any of the things we do applies to the curriculum. Very very tough grader. Never understanding that her students have real world problems and that our lives dont revolve around an english class.
Dont waist your time. Its one thing to be a good student with a good teacher but the last thing you want to do is be a good student with a bad teacher. She is rude, not understanding , and gives Terrible advice.
Please dont take her. First B in 2 years of college. All because I didnt do my final exactly how she wanted (gave me a 60). Also gave me a 13/50 on a bibliography... hows that even possible?
WORST professor Ive ever had. She gave me a 0 on a 1500 word essay because I didnt do the self assessment the way she liked. You have to do everything her way or its a 0. We werent even a month into the semester and almost 50% of the class already dropped.
HARD and RUDE. She grades hard and wants everything to be exactly how she says it has to be. Instructions are never clear. If you have her, may your spirts, guides, God/s, accompany you. Stay safe .
Trash! DO NOT TAKE, especially for your mental health and wellness.
This was the worst class of my life she is horrible!!!!! Im letting yall know please dont take this class. I have never failed so bad in my life.
Never take this class. It's extremely fast paced and stressful. It's caused me to slack in other classes because of the amount of work she assigns and that's not who I am as a student. Her class makes me feel like failure. Avoid at all cost for your own mental health.
She grades so hard. I completed a speech and got a 0/100 because I simply forgot to do peer reviews. She doesn't care if you complete an assignment, if you don't do it exactly how she says you will get a 0. Will never take her again.
Do not recommend. She has her days where she is tolerable but not often. Be prepared for tons of homework. If anything you turn in isn't EXACTLY how she wants it, good luck. I've seen her give others 0s for reasons other than the literal work. Which is ridiculous.
She gives terrible feedback. One of my papers had the worst feedback I have ever had in my School career high school included. She is unapproachable due to her attitude. If you dont go by her way of things you will fail
She cares about the students and wants them to succeed, but the load of the work is extremely strenuous. I'm always on top of my work and do well as a result, but I had a very hard time keeping up with the work load in this class and keeping the A. Majority of the work is hand written. Lots of stuff to print.
I actually took this class in 2019 and only recently decided to review to help other students. DO NOT take Sasser's classes. I had her for both speech and English and failed both because if your work is not just so, she will straight up give you a 0. I would finish work day of and spend until the due date begging for advice that I never got.
I don't know why this professor has so many bad reviews. She explains there will be work outside of class on the very first day, leaving plenty of time for students to drop the class. At times there was a lot of work, but you can still make a good grade in her class if you miss some assignments. She gave opportunities to redo major assignments.
Professor Sasser grades assignments based on what she deems is valid, even with a topic as subjective as literature, and she has no leniency. I was given a 0 on the allegory for snow in a poem because it did not match her interpretation. I had more assignments, per week, in her class alone than I did in my other four classes combined (Fall 2020).
This class constantly puts me on the edge of tears. I spends hours on 20 point assignments because the professor forces them to spend hours of their time analyzing, inspecting, and annotating each piece of literature (which can span from 5-20 pages) EVERY TWO DAYS. My mental health has declined since taking this class. AVOID THIS PROF!
The worst professor I've had at JSU.She barely explains how she will grade anything &on top of that she has the class set up as a GAME.She treats you like a child instead of an adult. Assigns 20+ pgs a week often and nitpicks the grading.I'd rather not graduate than take her again. Save yourself the pain and stress. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
She teaches well but assigns so much work. In her class, if you procrastinate or are not prepared to do work you will not do well in this class. It is hard to get caught back up if you miss a day.
She is a very tough grader and it was very hard to get in contact with her.
It's a lot of reading. Don't take if you have a part time job throughout the week/ a lot of work in general. But I love the professor as a teacher.
Terrible professor gives zeros for the smallest thing overall -12/100
Horrible teacher if you take her drop the class immediately
Please don't take this course, you will regret it! The instructions for assignments are very complicated and difficult to understand, and she will give you a zero even if you are trying (she does not give partial credit).
The most rude and unpleasant professor I have ever had on campus. She thinks of herself as smart and witty when she is the actual opposite. She's has bias in everything. If she gives you an improper grade and you inform her, she will not back down and still say she is right. She seems very uninformed about what she is teaching. A literal nightmare.
Never and ever take class of this professor. She gives lots of assignment that you can ever imagine and she don't speak good to students and she never appreciate your hard work. She even you will do good she will always say it is bad.
I do not even have words. She failed me because I missed class because I had covid. Also never warned nor told me that excused absences did not matter. If you are out, you fail, with no warning. GOOD LUCK.
I loved having Mrs. Sasser as my English teacher this semester! She was always on time and always had something fun to do related to the materials we were studying in class. If you take her class, prepare to read a lot and annotate passages. She's up to date with things happening in culture! Great teacher for English majors
Delores Umbridge
She is giving 1950s. Class is like a movie where the girls wear dresses and have those shoes with ruffle socks. She should think about retiring as it is clear she hates us.
She is evil. All these low ratings you need to believe them.
She has a huge ego that gets in the way of her teaching.
BEE AWWCH
My GPA was 4.0 in the first semester, and in the second semester, I passed all my classes with an A grade. However, I received a zero on one of my major assignments. The reason for the zero was that I didn't submit my assignment folder, even though it wasn't required. We had to write all our essays on paper by hand and submit them in a folder.
If you are interested in cosplaying the 1950s then take her. You have to use pen and paper for your essays. Then she loses your folders and your parents make you move home when you make a C. Fun times.
worst professor at jsu, she literally makes no sense and is migraine inducing. i would rather pass away then take her again.
She doesn't explain anything, gives you so many assignments and there always due at 11am so you have no time especially with taking other classes, not understanding about anything and over all just throws stuff at you.
Honestly do not take her. As a person she is nice but her class isn't worth going to, especially if you have lots of things to do outside of class. She gives lots of homework and expects it to be done by 11am even though you might have a classes before or during that time. Very inconsiderate. If you don't do things her way expect a zero.
This professor is the absolute worst of the worst. She gives little to no description of why someone will receive a certain grade on a paper. It is evident that she has zero empathy for her students and will do everything in her power to make your English class a nightmare. Would give a worse rating if I could.
RatemyProfessor should give us choices such as UNORGANIZED, DISRESPECTFUL, EGOTISTICAL so that we can explain better what the professor is really life. I would give a worse rating if possible, by far the worst of the worst teachers I have ever had.
Sometimes I wouldn't wear a seatbelt when I was driving to this class in hopes Jesus would spare me from her egotistical ranting.
Mrs. Sasser was extremely strict grader. She was hard to get along with and she ranted a lot. If you miss class, you will lose points. This class was a lot of busy work which I didn't feel improved my writing skills. She was really not the best.
This professor is a Karen that needs to retire. She isn't even nice if your nice to her, the most negative professor I have had, ever.
Don't take her unless you like being treated like a kindegardner!
*Kindergartner. There, I fixed it for you. Mrs. Sasser is a good professor. She's just not willing to put up with laziness. Just want to add, your C+ seems quite generous since you don't even know how to use spell check.
