Whipple is an awesome teacher. She has a real connection with her students. Very willing to help. I would take her for any class she teaches
She is an awesome teacher. She gives you the test questions, sometimes gives extra credit if you show up on Fridays, and sometimes lets you out early. She is very helpful, nice, and funny. Class is interesting even though she lectures ever class period.
Didn't care for this professor. She always taught from her notes, and if anyone asked a question that she didn't have an answer for in her notes, she wouldn't give an answer. She seemed to have more priority for her clinical practice than for her class.

She is an amazing teacher she really cares about her students I got an A in her class. If you show up and at least try on the test you will do fine. She is funny and keeps you interested, i liked going to class.
Human Sexuality: She is an awesome teacher and she is very willing to have her students input on topics discussed. She's awesome!
She speaks way too fast. Can't keep up with notes and get very frustrated with her. Don't take unless you have a quick writing hand.
An amazing teacher! She tells jokes before tests, she makes the class interesting and tells stories and gives examples that college students could relate to and enjoy.Would recommend her to anyone!!!!She makes class fun, and made me want to come to class even though it was pretty early.
Awesome teacher, she makes thinks interesting by bringing it down to the level of the college student. She tells jokes before tests, and everything she lectures is on her test... the tests are easy and she tells you what is on the test before the test day.
Dr. Whipple is awesome! She's so nice and such a great teacher! Make sure you study for tests and you'll be okay! Do the extra credit! She wears the craziest clothes, but it makes her interesting. She likes to tell us jokes and that always brightens class up! I enjoyed her a lot! TAKE HER FOR PSY!!!
I was a Psych major prior to joining this class. Taking her class made me reconsider. No power point no overhead. All she does is talk. When I say talk I mean speedtalking. I'm not sure if she even breathes. Don't listen to these other comments, they are putting you in the direction of a lunatic.
Dr. Whipple is fairly easy. Most of what she says comes from the book, so it's not completely necessary to go to every lecture. She talks incredibly fast which makes it difficult to get down everything she says anyway. The tests are multiple choice, and she grades on a curve.
She was an awesome teacher!! She did have the tendency to speak a little fast, but if you had any questions she would answer them for you after class. She made herself regularly available to students and really cares about you as an individual. She gives extra credit opportunities too!
LOVED THIS CLASS! Not only is it an interesting topic but Whipple is great. She is very funny and easy to talk to. I had this class at 8 AM and I never had a problem staying awake. For the people who says she talks to fast, learn to write faster. Take her if you can becasue you won't regret it
One of my favorite classes! Very interesting and she's really funny. Just take notes and study and you'll do fine.
By far one of the top 10 professors at SMS. She is a very "to the point" type of teacher. Very helpful, and gets opinions from everyone on discussion topics. You want to take this class with her.
Child Developement with Whipple was cake. Make sure you go to class, best lectures ever, she could quiet possibly be the best professor at SMS. In this class you can expect weekly assignments and tests that aren't extremely difficult. Read the book and take good notes!
Dr. Whipple is an excellent professor! She does a great job at lecturing...in fact they are always very interesting. Make sure to take good notes, read the book, and you will do just fine in her class. She is by far one of the best professors I've had at SMS!
Speed talker... no power point... talks a lot... didn't really like that style of teaching...
I loved this class. It was very interesting. She was really sarcastic and funny. Even though it was a large lecture class, she still had a lot of class participation and would talk to you. She gave study guides for the tests with all questions you would need to know. Easy if you tried!
Everyone says this class is easy, but i found it a little challenging. Then again, i also didn't go to class so i'm a little biased...
YOu have to go to class and take good notes in order to pass, but the material and discussions are interesting. If you use the study guides she gives you and do the extra credit work you'll be fine.
Dr.Whipple is really interesting and gets you involved in discussions. She is also very laid back and funny. highly recommended!
I loved this class and Dr. Whipple. I think she was an amazing teacher, and made the large lecture class a very relaxed atmosphere. She gives you study guides for the tests, and as long as you take notes, its easy. Told ilarious jokes, especially on days that we had a test. Really knows how to lighten things up. Would take her class again!
The class & Whipple is awesome!! Just take notes, study the study guide & do the extra credit and you'll be fine! Class is always interesting and FUN!! I'd love to have her a prof. again!!

Went way too fast, but the class was rather easy. Huge class, which sucked. Was like a student herself almost, but wish she wasn't so much.
ok first of all shes not hot so stop checking that box girls. Um, lets see she has not powerpoint, she puts maybe 3 words on the board. She doesnt use black board and she makes you do surveys and stuff outside of class. I thought I was going to enjoy this class but had to drop it because I couldnt stay awake and after a d on the first test
She's a lot of fun and gives many examples to go along with the material to help you remember it better. She also gives you a study guide. Excellent Prof.
She's alot of fun and gives several examples to help you understand. She talks fast so you have to write fast. Come to class, take notes, pay attention & study & you'll do well on the exams. The test material comes straight from the study guide so there's no way to not do well in her class.
Shes a cool lady, she talks fast but if you go to class and study theres no reason you should walk out with less than a B.
The class was pretty easy overall, she gives you a study guide for each test, so all you have to do to get a good grade on the test is complete the study guide. She makes class pretty interesting, I would recommend taking her, she dismisses early sometimes too.
good teacher if you don't mind fast talking and ummmmmmm and ookkkkkk. tests information is right from study guides. when she gives examples of things in class write those down. her tests consists more of concepts than facts. doesn't give homework and don't have to go to class so tests are the main grades.
She is very interesting and nice. Makes class fun and class sessions are more of discusions than lectures. Gives study guides for all of the tests.
Great woman and fun teacher! She definitely keeps you interested, and she's got a great personality!
Shes really fun though kinda out there. Can talk your ear off about anything. Go and talk to her if you have a problem shes understanding. THe lectures are intresting though hard to follow because she doesn't have powerpoints and doesn't use blackboard.
The class is somewhat interesting. She is a good lecturer. You do have to study for the tests to do well, but she goes over MOST things in lecture, and the study guide covers basically everything on the test. Easy teacher, take her.
The "Ummmmmmmmmmmmm" and "Oooooooookkkkkaaayyy" thing got on my nerves but she is a good prof.
don't have to go to class ... gives u study guides for test and final ...easy class .. never went
EASY!
She knows her stuff and is a great teacher. You do have to study for the tests, but thats expected. She is clear about what is on the tests and always keeps class interesting.
I had Dr. Whipple for 304, I have her now for 331, and 307. She is a wonderful teacher. She may talk fast, but get your hand going. All the other qualities she has as a professor outwhey that she talks fast. I would definately take her again. She is the best Psychology prof. I have ever had!:)
Had her for PSY HST/SYS. Material is horrible, Dr. Whipple is great. She wants to teach the class about as much as we wanted to be there, so she makes it as painless as possible. When comparing to other PSY HST classes with other students, she is hands down the best. I am taking her again!
dr. Whipple is such a good, funny lady. I had her for Hist/Syst of Psy and also Human Sexuality. She doesnt give hardcopies of notes cuz she is computer illiterate. Write as she talks but its easy, dont freak. Give study guides.. read book for the few random questions on the test u wudnt know without reading it. Easy A. Awesome lady. Dont stress
I really enjoyed Dr. Whipple's class. She knows her stuff, although I would've appreciated if we could have stayed on topic more. That wasn't always her fault though. I would enjoy taking more classes with her, and she seems to genuinely care about people. (She also has the best laugh ever.)
Dr. Whipple is VERY entertaining, she has the funniest laugh. She knows her stuff. She is just a great teacher!!!
Dr. Whipple is amazing. She was by far my favorite prof of my undergraduate career. You should take any class that she offers. She really cares about her students. If you have any questions she will totally help you. Very easy to talk to and knows her stuff.
Her class is awesome! Definately recommend. Its a lot of fun! All notes oral in class but not to bad. Tests aren't to bad go to class and try to read the book which is one of the best text I have had in college. Very interesting and not dry
Dr. Whipple isn't real bright but her class is kind of fun. It's interesting and not too hard. You aren't going to learn much.
I had her for history and systems. The material was terrible but the class is pretty easy if you look at the study guides. She is so funny, I loved her. She makes the class so much better.
Pretty good teacher. Doesn't use powerpoint or overheads just talks, and sometimes very fast. Halfway through the semester I started just highlighting out of the book almost ALL of her notes are straight out of the book. Not too hard really, gives study guides for each test that directly name the subjects on the test. I recommend taking her.
Love her. Boring, required class, but tries to make it interesting. Tends to test over more than she lectures on. Doesn't use powerpoints in class - found it helpful to follow in the book during lecture - lots of names to know. Very approachable - I highly recommend her.
Dr.Whipple's Human Sexuality class is fairly easy and entertaining. The only complaint I have against her is that the notes she gave were difficult to follow and given to quickly. Besides that, Dr.Whipple is a great professor. In the class I had with her, the test questions were almost all from the book, and the book was excellent.PSY 307 is awesome
She was extremely helpsful, fun, and interesting. Always willing to discuss topics, and asnwer questions.
Great teacher! Willing to help, repeat stuff in class, answer questions. Very concerned with having her facts right. Highly recommend!
The information in the class is extremely interesting. She speaks very fast and pretty much reads directly from the book in class. Her tests are pretty easy, but gets pretty specific with the information from the book. She doesn't use powerpoints of printouts, so you have to write all your notes.
She doesn't know anything about this class and just read from the nots. She like and give attention and care for some students more than than others. I DON'T RECOMMENDED TIHIS TEACHER AT ALL.
Very interesting material. I had Dr WHipple for human sexuality/child psychology. Her lectures are fairly interesting, not sure how much they are appropriate for passing the tests. Grading was arbitrary and not much consideration was given for finding out what you got wrong or how to get the correct answers. She's smokin hot though, so that helps
Relied very much on the lecture for instruction. Very real world oriented.
I would recommend Whipple. While she bases her lecture around the book she is also able to give further insight from her past experience as a clinical psychologist. You WILL use your book a lot, and I would recommend writing down the examples she gives in class. Also, show up to class because she will talk about what will be on the test. Loved her!
Dr. Whipple is awesome! She's one of my favorite professors in the psychology department. She's very helpful and loves students.
She's fantastic, one of the best professors MSU has. Definitely take her class and do read and study for the test.
Dr. Whipple is awesome! This class was the best class I have taken at Missouri State! PSY 307 is a little awkward at first, but it gets super interesting and unique as the semester goes on. Dr. Whipple welcomes student comments, questions, and stories! The lectures are fun! And,she talks about her life outside of class which is also cool to hear!
Dr. Whipple is a great professor! Be ready to take notes in class and to read the textbook. Her notes are straight from the txt but you still need to show up for class because some of the things she covers are NOT in the book. If you don't attend class you won't pass because of the material covered and she gives participation pts. for attendance
Dr. Whipple knows her stuff. She is funny, and made the 3 hours fly by. The class is pure participation and attendance, sometimes a short paper on your opinion. This class is about sexuality and intimacy, so if you are easily embarrassed don't take it.
She is a funny person and love to make the class laugh. You need to be ready to do homework and read.
Dr. Whipple is amazing. She is very funny and makes all her students laugh. Psych was extremely easy. I hardly had to study. This class is half online half lecture and it was the best thing ever. Got an A with just studying one night before the test. Make sure you keep up with online work or you will be so lost on tests. Would take again
Dr. Whipple was awesome. We ended up only meeting once a week. The lectures were long but they elaborated on the reading. You have online assignments every week due Monday. 4 tests. She was a funny lady and was very sweet. Definitely knew what she was talking about. I plan on taking her in the future for more classes.
Whipple is a great Professor, she's hilarious and does great at giving lectures. I was struggling halfway through the semester because I didn't realize how much homework and participation there is, and she let me do work in order to bring my grade up. You WILL have to answer clicker questions for partic. points, and go to out of class sessions.
Read the material and go to class. Some notes she posted and others she didn't. The tests weren't horrible, but you will have to study. We had a project that we had to go into a sex shop and write a reflection about how we felt and why. She definitely engages you during the lecture though! I would hands down take her again!
Lectures are long, but attendance is mandatory and you only have to go once a week. Very clear expectations; it's the same homework assignment every week just on a different chapter. Tests are exactly like homework. Overall she's really funny and easygoing, and I'm sure you could get extra help if you needed it.
It's a huge class so getting assistance from her isn't something I ever tried. But she is a super interesting teacher and there are all kinds of resources built into the class so you can get an A if you put effort into it. Gives extra credit and I would love to take more classes with her
You only have class once a week. She covers a lot of material in one class. She is funny, nice, and has a lot of energy. I took psychology in high school so I thought this class was very easy. You should go to every class because you have a clicker. The tests aren't too difficult but definitely have to study. And gives extra credit opportunities
She was great professor who was very engaged with the course content and her students. This was an excellent course (human sexuality), and I learned a lot. Make sure to stay up to date on assignment due dates for reflection papers and journals. I would definitely suggest taking her for any class.
Overall her class was a blast, make sure you go to class you are graded on that. Stay up to date on due dates, and be willing to learn. Doesn't give study guides or review, as long as you listen to her lectures and pay attention you will love her class.
She is a great professor and really makes the class fun. She has a few in class group sessions that are hilarious. She is always available if you need help or have a question. I would suggest making sure you do the journal assignments and reaction papers because it is really easy to forget and loose that grade. I highly suggest her class.
She does what she can to make lecture interesting. Most of your grade comes from the tests and clicker use in class. I recommend going to every single class because you'll miss our on 5 points daily if you do not. The tests are not incredibly hard but you must study to be successful
Dr. Whipple is so funny and despite having psychology early in the morning, her lectures are never dull. Some sections of the class have a lot of dense information but she tries her best to make it interesting. She gives extra credit opportunities and participation points for clicker questions. Go to class and put in some effort and you'll do great
Dr. Whipple tries her best to make the lectures as fun as she can. She goes a bit fast at times but she does put the power points online after class. Class is only one day a week and make sure to do your homework assignments each week. Clicker questions each class so be sure to go for attendance. Just be sure to study and you'll do fine.
Dr. Whipple is really funny and explains the material through PowerPoints. As long as you take notes on what she says and study, you'll do fine. She can sometimes seem a bit harsh in her tone, though.
Good teacher, really good at bringing the discussion back to the topic. Gets on soap boxes a few times which feels like a waste of time. If you have conservative values, it is hard to voice your opinion in class. She does try to fight that, but it just happens, a lot
Dr. Whipple was very nice, and made the class as interesting as she could with so many people. You want to go to class every day, otherwise you will miss out on five points. Weekly online assignments and tests. The class is blended so you only have to attend 1 out of 2 days a week, with lots of extra credit opportunities, and research classes.
She was a great professor. She wanted us to take notes of examples she gave in class to better prepare us for the tests and encouraged people to take practice tests. If you show up to class (which is typically held once a week) and do the online homework (super easy) then you can definitely get a good grade. She made psychology a fun subject
I can respect the fact that everything is laid out at the beginning, but the communication between ULAs and Dr. Whipple is complete crap. The reason I got a 91 instead of a 98 was purely because signing the attendance sheet and 98% clicker question attendance can still earn you a zero for the week. Be careful! This class is life skills 101, not PSY
Dr. Whipple was amazing. She was one of the reasons why I switched my major to psychology. Her class was pretty average difficulty wise, but part of that is because it is in a giant lecture hall. She does well explaining all, and making sure you feel like you matter in the class. I am planning on taking her again next semester! Love her!
Dr. Whipple was amazing. She was one of the reasons why I switched my major to psychology. Her class was pretty average difficulty wise, but part of that is because it is in a giant lecture hall. She does well explaining all, and making sure you feel like you matter in the class. I am planning on taking her again next semester!
She is a blast and a half!
Dr. Whipple didn't finish a single lecture all semester. She'd get 3/4 of the way through explaining the chapter and then class ends. Also, her in-class activities (not the clicker ones) did nothing to supplement the learning process. However, she was very passionate about the subject and she gave lots of opportunities to improve your grade.
For a psych class it is really easy as long as you study for the tests. Some people used the book, but the only things I needed were the study guides from study sessions (which you are required to go to before every test) and google to look up definitions. Next to no homework and lots of extra credit opportunities
very nice and caring
This is a very interesting course and I think that she does a good job teaching and interacting with students considering its a very large class. There is a lot of work that needs to be put into this clas,s but it's very fun and easy if you study. a lot of outside class work.
Dr. Whipple really knows her stuff when it comes to Human Sexuality! Lecture are so interesting, and all you really have to do is show up and take notes. There's a few easy online assignments, but other than that just come and enjoy the class!
She's hilarious and makes class super interesting with fun activities.
Love her and she makes psych fun
I absolutely love this woman. She gives it to you straight, isn't afraid to say what people are thinking, and respects all points of view. I've never been so interested in a social science class as much as I have been in all her classes. I tell everyone at MSU to take Human Sexuality with her because she's a literal angel on this rotten earth.
Dr. Whipple is a must take professor!! Attendance is mandatory and you get points based on attendance, but going to her class is easy because she makes it fun and she's hilarious! She doesn't give study guides before the test, but if you show up to class, pay attention to lectures, and look at the power points you'll be fine. Highly recommend her!
Whipple is to die for! Hilarious and totally understands students! You have to read the book and do the online portion which is tedious. Lectures are an overview of the chapter readings. Do the online tests and review them then go to the study sessions. Its mainly freshman so prepare to be annoyed if you're an upperclassmen! You will not regret her
Dr. Whipple made a huge class feel smaller. Definitely knows her stuff, I would recommend taking her for PSY121. Her tests are all multiple choice, and unlike a lot of professors there are multiple chances to earn more points in her class besides tests. Buy and READ the book, it is necessary. Her slides do not cover all the material.
Love her lectures
I hated PSY 121 with Dr. Whipple. Most days in lectures I would put my earbuds in and press buttons on the clicker just to get attendance. I learned nothing from going to lecture and listening to her and pretty much self taught myself the entire class. I would always be asking my roommate to look at his notes because his professor was good.
Dr. Whipple knows a lot about psychology, the practice of psychology, human sexuality, and how to get students interested. The flip side of that is that she is quite the sensationalist. If you're there to get the facts and learn, you might get a little more of a "show" with each period. But she is a wonderful professor with great teaching practices
There are a lot of teacher's assistants, so it is easy to get in contact with someone if you have questions or concerns. Tests are not too difficult as long as you read over the book.
Dr. Whipple is fun and engaging. I had her for human sexuality, and enjoyed every day in class. While attendance is part of the grade, I was always excited to come to class and found the discussions useful. Be prepared to be open and talk about your sex life, while not mandatory, communication in the class makes it way more entertaining.
Dr. Whipple was an INCREDIBLE professor. She made learning about psychology so interesting and fun. Each week you are assigned MyPsychLabs, which are a big part of your grade. If you read, show up to class, and study your notes, the class is an easy A.
She responded well with feedback & would have some interesting discussions. She occasionally made false claims without supporting research. Lectures didn't keep up with the online homework, she'd assign work not shown in the syllabus that didn't aide the learning process, & had a strict attendance policy which shouldn't be a thing in college.
She is by far the coolest professor, she is outgoing and makes this a fun class. Her test loads are heavy so make sure you study hard! But with her extra credit and the weekly quizzes, you can keep your grade up pretty well in this class. This subject is very interesting and she makes me excited to go to this class and actual engage in discussion.
Dr. Whipple is super nutty and a little crazy but honestly such a good teacher. She made class entertaining and it her lectures did drag and were intriguing.
She is absolutely hilarious and snorts when she laughs. Her lectures are pretty boring but there are clicker questions at the end of the lecture to help you prepare for the test. Those are test questions! Four tests and a final throughout semester, you will need to read the text book. Tests aren't hard as long as you know your stuff. Great teacher.
professor Whipple has an amazing laugh, and trust me its infectious. Just keep up with your revel assignments, participate in clicker questions, and attend study sessions. Doing those things will guarantee an A
She's funny, but her lectures are kinda boring. She does a lot of research on students, and I had to teach myself out of class a lot. The Textbook/Reval is the only thing that helped me in this class.
I hated this class. She was awful and the only thing I learned was that she has a disgusting laugh. I hate you whipple
Super nice lady! Class was just reading the textbook and taking quizzes and tests were open book with questions that you've already seen, and there is enough time to look them up. Reading does take a while so as long as you dont wait to do them, you'll be just fine!
Dr. Whipple is amazing, but her tests are tough! Take good notes during lectures, read the chapters, and don't wait until last minute to study. She does a great job at explaining things but the tests are no joke, but the material is interesting and relevant so it is a great class.
Dr. Whipple is very passionate about what she teaches. Sometimes her opinion gets in the way, and she will lecture about how it "should" be, instead of presenting the facts. She made the class blended, and all of the tests were on respondus. She was very slow at grading things, but overall, I loved her class. Very informing, and I would recommend!
Tests were harder than necessary. Interesting topic and good lectures. Easy homework points and a few random discussion posts. Extra credit for missing less than 2 classes. I would take this professor for any class, but getting a good grade in this one takes work.
Dr Whipple's lectures were not very helpful to my learning. As long as you do the readings and revel assignments you will have most of what you need to know for the test, but I would also look over the powerpoints. The lectures were more like discussion and she really pushes classroom discussion. Half the stuff on revel she doesn't cover in class.
She uses out of date and offensive terms, as well as old data and studies. Injects her opinion on how things should be into every topic. Does not source her claims. Teaches incorrect history. Tests are unnecessarily tough, mainly because they're based on the book and not her lectures. She regularly contradicted the book.
Do not take if you are transgender or even if you know basic gender theory. Promotes disproven theories on gender and development. She will explain your own gender experience to you. Beyond that, she will tell you her thoughts on gender which often contradicted the book and the actual research. You learn more in 411 than here.
I've had Whipple for 2 weeks and I can already say she's the BEST psych prof at MSU. Take her human sexuality class it is so fun!
I took the Human Sexuality class and I HIGHLY recommend it to any college student. This class offered great material that is very educational and useful to know, plus it was very entertaining. Definitely not a boring class and the assignments/tests were relatively easy but still a good review. Great teacher, and a great class. SIGN UP NOW!!
Dr. Whipple is my absolute favorite professor at Missouri State. Her lectures were very interesting and engaging, and she takes questions and feedback in stride. Participation isn't mandatory, but you can get extra credit points for attending. Weekly assignments are done through Revel, but make sure you get them turned in on time.
This was a fabulous class. Dr. Whipple provided an inclusive environment and the discussion boards were actually really fun. Lectures are good, but honestly you don't even have to listen to them each week. As long as you do the Revel assignments, you should be good to go. Class was an easy A.
Professor Whipple was great. However, I did not really enjoy the material of this class. As someone who basically had to take this class because my previous one changed professors and was a mess, I did not find myself wanting to learn about human sexuality. Super easy class though that consists of discussion boards, Revel, and open exams.
Dr. Whipple is an engaging professor. Lectures are interesting, but don't skip the readings - the tests cover both. Revel assignments are helpful, and Unstuck AI can supplement study prep.
The lectures themselves were great. However, she made up new rules in the grades as she went, did not understand when I was sick, and was never available to answer my questions. She was also rude to me over email on a few occasions.
Dr. Whipple is the best! She's funny and bold and open-minded, that you can learn so many things from her. Her lecture is cool and so is the way she engages us into participating in class.
Dr. Whipple is so fun and I took away a lot from her class. The workload was light and I actually looked forward to class.
Dr. Whipple is very nice, funny, and enthusiastic about what she teaches. We always talked about interesting subject matter. We were a couple of weeks behind on material, causing us to rush through the last 3-4 chapters right before finals week, which isn't ideal. Her exams aren't hard, but she doesn't give you much time to complete them.
I love love love this course and I love this professor. She's so kind and very flexible and understanding. The tests are easy, the homework is easier, and she teaches the topic with compassion and enough lightness to make learning easy. I suggest taking this course, and would take this course again.
Dr. Whipple does an amazing job at making sure the class is very organized, easy to navigate, and the syllabus and other important items are easy to find. I learned so much from this class and found it very interesting. It's a mix of many subjects and can be pretty difficult, but it's still fun. I took the block section so there was a lot of work.
