she is really nice but sometimes inconsistant with her note structure. her grading is a bit sketchy when it comes to "research days." But overall she is really funny and nice...she makes psychology fun.

Cute, funny, vaguely disrespectful, but pretty clear. Has an outline every day, tests are pretty on-topic in regards to lecture material, offers 15 points total extra credit. Can be a little tough on research day/participation day grading if you don't prattle all the time.

This class was awesome! So long as you take good notes and pay attention....its hard to not get a good grade. Just look out for some sneaky book questions she throws on the tests sometimes and make sure to say something on research days...even if it's random.

She is very fun and interesting, giving surveys, etc. to determine what the class wants and is concerned about. However, she doesn't seem to listen to what the students say though. Giving people a little more benefit of doubt may help.

Knows a lot about different types of counseling. Very eager to know how her student's are doing. Great sense of humor. Somewhat clear about expectations however sometimes does not seem specific enough (like on directions for research paper). Go to class, take notes, read and you'll ace the class.

Very interested in her students and making sure they understand what she is saying. Does a beautiful job at not making you feel stupid. Make sure you have examples for study material. Tests are made up with examples to see if you really understand the material.

Very funny, but I was suprised by the grading. She is tougher than I expected--I know all the class material, but I am not going to get the grade I expected. Tests are tricky, semi-rough grader on papers too. Read Reasearch Day Articles. Hard to approach at times, but is nice and very funny in class

I had to drop this class. I went to class, did all the extra credit and was still doing bad. The tests are kind of hard and she NEVER gives out a 10 for homework or extra credit always an 8 or 9 and that can wear down on your grade. Does offer different homework opportunities and you have to choose 3 out of 5 which is nice.

I loved this class, it's my major but she's an excellent teacher. She definitely knows what she's talking about and is very helpful. She's funny and always asks the class about how their weekend went, nice and personal. Very sweet person, tests can be tricky but study & think. Homework isn't hard and there's extra cretit. Good class!

She is really fun, always in a good mood, open to all types of questions and will try her hardest to answer them.Tests are fairly easy, just need to study from the class notes that are powerpoints. Take this class with her and you wont regret it!

Cornelius is very helpful. She replies to e-mails and she always answers questions. Test are tricky and they are all about application. So make sure you know examples of everything she talks about. Other than that, homework was easy and so was the extra credit.

Don't expect 2 get an easy A though, the tests were difficult but as long as u study you'll pass em!! Homework n extra credit were jus easy points to add on to ur grade!!

GREAT class. She's very funny and makes the time fly by like none other. VERY clear and always willing to find any info you want. Tests are tricky but read the book (even when she says you don't need to..because you do) and take good notes and you'll do great. I ended up with a B.

Good teacher, Lectures somewhat boring, but she really knows her stuff and will explain everything until you understand it. Tests are pretty hard, based on application of terms instead of knowing definitions. Overall good class. HW and Extra Credit were easy, only have to do 3/5 of the Homeworks.

worst class ever. She is very unhelpful. I tried many times to get in touch with her and it was impossible. The tests are very hard and the notes arent helpful at all. i wouldnt tell anyone to take this class with her. save yourself the time, money, and sanity, dont have this prof.

good prof. Very helpful. Very clear expectations. knows her stuff. tests are hard but managable. tough for an entry level class. only have to do 2/5 hw assignments. all hw and EC are very easy points. only disadvantage was that she was pregnate and gave birth right at the end of the semester, missed the last few weeks. bad timing on her part!

An excellent professor. She is really knowledgable about her topic. the powerpoints are easy to understand and she gives lots of examples. Tests are hard, so make sure you read the book, but she is willing to help you in any way possible.

She was really good. Lectures got boring, but it's just not my subject.. She gave extra credit and a you could get a lot of points for in class assignments. Those help a lot because the tests are really hard! The Jeopardy reviews are nothing like the tests, so beware of that! But she is really nice and willing to help if you need it.

This class has been my favorite so far at GV! The material was interesting and I actually enjoyed going to class. She encouraged participation and provided lots of examples to explain topics. She's really nice, funny, and wants her students to do well. I would definately take her again if I could get into one of her classes.

Tara is probably the nicest and easiest professor to understand at Grand Valley. Very helpful and the tests were somewhat manageable. I would definitely recommend her, not to mention shes some nice eye candy for the days where you're bored.

Good Professor. Spends a lot of time helping us understand concepts. She is really down to earth and doesn't try to confuse you with a ton of terms. Tests are tricky so make sure to study and be able to apply the concepts to examples.

Prof. Cornelius is awesome. She is soo knowledgable on what she talks about, and is super easy to talk to. Be careful of the tests..lots of comprehension, and definetly read the book, you'll be scewed if you don't! I'll definetly take her again!! She was great.

AWESOME prof. I would take her again if I could. Gives excellent examples, clear lectures, and is funny to boot! You definitely need to read the book for this class to do well on tests, but she is very approachable if you get confused about something. I highly recommend her class.

AMAZING. I loved going to this class. She makes psychology very interesting. Actually, because of this class I am switching to a psych minor. I would def. reccomend her. Her tests aren't that hard, as long as you study AND read the text, it is possible to get a good grade. She also offers extra credit to boost your grade. TAKE THIS PROF!!

Notes and powerpoints are very helpful. Class is interesting and actually fun to go to. I look forward to this class over all of my others! At least skim the chapters and go to majority of classes and you will do fine on tests.

She knows her stuff. although her exams are ridiculously hard for an intro level class and she thinks it is good if the class average is a C. remember: keep your papers like your skirts...long enough to cover everything but short enough to keep things interesting!

Prof. Cornelius is great. She has fun videos to watch during class and it usually goes by pretty quick. Exams are tough and worth alot of points so study/read the book. Her powerpoint is helpful. You don't have to attend class but it is beneficial and she does have random in class activities worth a few points. DO EXTRA CREDIT! Class avg falls ~77%

Prof Cornelius is an awesome professor. She makes b-mod so interesting and this is the only class I look foward to coming to. The test are very straighfoward and understandable. She is very interactive with the class and encourages participation. OVERALL, I would give her a A. Get in her class.

Prof. Cornelius is SO fantastic. One of the best I've had at Grand Valley. She's hilarious, engaging, kind, and extremely intelligent. I absolutely LOVED this class and am hoping to be able to take her again before I graduate!

This class was a killer. Her tests are unbelievably hard. Every questions is like a riddle and you have to fiquire out the riddle before you can even look at the answers. This was the worst class I have taken at GVSU.

I thought she was a horrible professor. Her exams will definitely screw you even if you attend everyday and do the readings. The wordings of her exams are nothing like how she words the material in class. She's attempting to trick rather than educate. Her in class examples are thought up on the spot and they add to the confusion. AVOID HER

I attend class every day and take notes and still find exams impossible. AVOID HER IF POSSIBLE! By the far the worst class I've had at GV.

Very good prof and very willing to work with you after class or in office hours! Tests can be worded tricky, but ask if you have questions! Show up to class for the activities and get easy points. The project is also not bad, as long as you have a good group (you pick your own).

I loved this class and prof. cornelius!! Definitely my favorite class I have taken so far. There are random reading quizzes, but they are fairly easy if you read the material. Just make sure you get a good partner for the partner papers!!

She expects a lot, I had her for Psy 310 & 452. She teaches application focused and has great class discussions. Psy's my area & I struggled with her tests- you can justify multiple answers, 3 to 4 exams(50/50 M-choice, Short Answer), a group project/paper (APA super-stickler),8 quizzes, A lot of reading! Basically:Fun Class, Rough Tests/Grading

Fun prof but her tests are pretty difficult just because of how she words questions. I also found it difficult to finish the tests in time. They are MC and short answer. Interesting class though. You don't really need to use the book that much.

By far the best professor I've had at GVSU. Yes, the material is difficult, but what do you expect from a 300 level course in PSY? I learned SO much from her & actually understood it. She thoroughly explains application of concepts. Tests are difficult, but I always pulled at least a B. You just have to study. Very willing to help. Highly recommend

Great professor! One of my favorite by far. Lecture is always interesting and her exams are not that hard. She words the questions to make you think and put concepts together. If you study and read the book, you'll do fine. I would take a class with her again anytime.

Tara is one of my absolutely favorite teachers! She is amazing and her classes are always interesting. I have taken her for Behavior Modification also and she was really good for that class too! She bases her tests mostly off of powerpoint, but I suggest reading the book too. Her tests are not too hard and are fair. Take her if you can!!!!

This class was very interesting but tests were hard. 4 SA and 20 MC so you couldnt afford to miss much. Def go to class b/c she explains more in lecture than the notes or book do. Reading is a must bc she will take questions from the book. Group paper that is due at end of semester too I enjoyed the class and the prof was great but not very easy

She is a wonderful teacher. Partner paper can be challenging as she is a tough grader. Be sure to use rubric; she doesn't include it in the syllabus but is "hidden" in Blackboard. Don't Overlook It!

Class was interesting. Not the easiest class every but definitely not hard either. Group paper and a lot of participation points for going to class. Exams are kind of tricky and reading the textbook helps a little bit but not much. Very fun professor :)

I absolutely LOVED this class! She makes it so fun, and she's hilarious. But even while you're laughing at all of the stories she has, you're actually learning the material too. I highly recommend her for b-mod. if you don't have her right now for the class, you're missing out. by far the best prof i've ever had at GV!

Loved her! She knows what she's talking about - explains everything very well. She has so many examples and uses funny stories about her kids. Tests are part multiple choice, part short answer and can be a little tricky. But she does reviews and is super helpful. 10 in class assignments are graded for completion to for easy points. One paper. TAKE!

Beautiful women inside and out! You can tell she loves teaching. Always smiling, engaging, willing to help and super funny & kind. Tells lots of funny stories about her kids and life. The exams are challenging BUT fair. She doesn't confuse or surprise you. Be prepared to learn a lot and love this class and her.

Uses a lot of real-life examples from her 3 kids, which are hilarious, but they all help to understand the information from the lecture. One big group paper due that makes no sense why we have to do it as a group. Other than that, there are no assignments due other than the tests. Go to class because in-class notes are essential to passing.

She is a GREAT professor. I never had a class period where I didn't laugh at least once. Very engaging and teaches you how to apply material rather than just memorize it. The first exam was 80% of lecture and the only tricky thing she did was make the second exam about 50% from the book which threw me for a loop but that's my fault. TAKE HER.

Dr. Cornelius does a fantastic job of applying the material in a fun & interesting way. Group discussions in class are common and classes in general are quite interactive. I loved going to class and would highly recommend her as a professor!

Dr. Cornelius gives great lectures and examples to help students learn. Her exams are slightly tougher than expected, but class averages are pretty high. The paper is a lot of work, but she grades very easily. I would take her again because she isn't boring and she is fair in evaluating students.

Take her take her take her! She is an amazing prof, best one yet at GV. Her exams are a little bit difficult but it's a psychology 300 level course so it's expected. The group paper sounds intimidating but it's really easy. She grades fair on all of her essay questions as well.

One group paper and project-- different kind of assignment, but was still enjoyable. She has great lecture styles and exams are all application which was very easy. By far the best professor in the psychology department at GV, she is really engaged in the class and will always be available to help you if you're struggling with the content, she's funny and has great examples of content. Class is super easy, just pay attention and make sure you show up and you basically get free points. 10/10 would recommend.

I LOVED having Tara as a prof and wish she taught more than bmod. She is super funny and keeps her lectures entertaining, understandable and you can tell she really cares about your learning. Tara is the best ever. She's very funny and sarcastic, but she's also an amazing professor. She really makes sure you know the material by giving tons of real life examples. Tests are easy. She was an amazing professor, super interesting, I truly enjoyed going to class everyday. She uses her kids as examples a lot, and also really tries to engage the class. There is 1 big group project, so make sure you find good students for that. Exams are pretty straightforward, and she takes attendance occasionally by in class assignments

Take Tara! She is truly amazing. The class itself is not that hard, you just need to put the effort in. There are 3 exams, study the PPs and you will be fine! Make sure you go to class though because she gives 5 point assignments that add up quickly. She is hilarious! You will not regret taking this class.

I loved Tara. She was always super funny and just a joy to be around. The only thing that I did not like about this class was that the exams always seemed to be way harder than I expected. Her lectures were very engaging and I didn't think it was a hard class overall, but make sure you study everything she goes over in class and be able to apply it

I could never say enough about Dr. Cornelius. She is AMAZING. So awesome, and makes the lectures interesting. Lots of info but she gives you lots of tools to do well & encourages participation! Ive never had a prof quite like her. 10/10 recommend her! Didnt use the textbook at all & if you miss class there is online lectures

Tara was awesome. She really kept the long lectures interesting and I personally thought she was really funny. Shes super easy-going and understanding if outside circumstances come up and she has online lectures if you miss class. Tests were pretty straightforward and Id definitely recommend quizlet for studying for her exams ;)

She was amazing, my fav prof yet!! The class is super easy if you just show up (and literally just write your name on her "assignments") and understand what she's saying. I rarely studied for her exams and got solid As on each one. She is so funnt and makes class fun. She also gives a good amount of extra credit towards the end, def recommend her!!

This class is based on very few points so its important that you go to every lecture for the in class activities. There are 3 big test, paper, and then a final. Tara is one of the most kind hearted people I know! Never be afraid to reach out to her. Lectures are comical, but can get a bit boring at times. Easy A if you attend lecture.

Hands down the best professor I have ever had at GVSU! Not only is she caring about the success of her students but she provides a lot of in class examples that help you really understand the material well. She gives out a few extra credit assignments that can bump your grade up and she's really funny and takes the time to get to know her students!

One of the best teachers I have had in my lifetime. Took this class during Covid-19 and she was so caring and made the class a lot easier for us. She gives phenomenal lectures, to the point where I had barely had to study for her exams because she is just that captivating to listen to. She is hilarious and gives great real life and video examples!

You will not regret taking this class. Grades are determined by 3 exams, a final, an in class quiz once a week (credit/no credit), and a group paper that you have the whole semester to work on. The prof is super understanding and hilarious and class is optional, although you'd get a higher grade on the exams if you did go to class.

Tara is amazing. She truly cares for every single one of her students and it shows. Her exams are some what hard but as long as you pay attention and study before you will do fine. She makes going to class super fun and gives out in class assignments randomly so be prepared for that but they require no work at all.

Professor Cornelius is very kind and caring, and during this whole COVID-19 mess was one of the most helpful and accommodating of all my professors. Overall, she is a great prof, funny, interesting lectures. Beware of the exams as they are applied and relatively difficult, just make sure you study hard and you should be good! Definitely recommend.

Prof. Cornelius is easily my favorite psych prof that I've had and if given the option I would take more of her classes in a heartbeat. She's super funny and cares a lot about her students. She is an absolute gem. I loved her. She gave us the option for attendance whether we felt safe or not to come to class. All of her homework was online and could easily be completed without attending an in-person lecture. She is the sweetest but takes plagiarism and dishonesty seriously so don't do her wrong.

I took this class as an online, asynchronous class. The coursework was very manageable, and we had an activity and quiz each week that made up your class grade. The professor was super caring and made sure that the students understood the requirements for each week.

I took this class as an accelerated course in the summer. Lots of work and reading but I'm sure it would feel semi-normal when it is over 15 weeks. Your time management needs to be on point though. You have to read 5 books; pretty interesting reads. She is super kind, funny, and caring. It is easy to get an A if you are willing to put in the work

I loved this professor. She took the time to learn the name of each of her students and asks how you are doing and she seems like she genuinely cares. She is supportive, encouraging and actually gives the feedback to become a better writer. The class was easy. It was one short homework assignment a week, three easy exams, and one paper.

Dr. C is absolutely incredible--I can't think of a better professor here at GVSU! If you have the opportunity to take her Capstone course, absolutely do it. There isn't a kinder, more caring professor out there. The course is primarily focused on participation and discussion but it's not as scary as it sounds, I promise!

Professor Cornelius is the best. She learned every student's name in the class, brought snacks every morning, and genuinely wanted the best for each student. Professor Cornelius is the best psychology professor i've ever had. I have never gotten this much feedback from a professor. She takes time to get to know her students and makes the classroom fun. There aren't too many assignments and exams are pretty straight forward. If you show up to class every day you have extra credit opportunities.
