teaches well, exams are pretty tough, 3011 was good, 3012 lots tougher
If the information wasn't right there infront of her, she would have no clue
I liked her, thought she was pretty clear-if u listen u dont have 2 read the txt
She is by far the worst prof. I have ever had! She adds no substance to the material she presents. She's boring and monotone & makes me want to stick a rusty nail through each of my ears whenever she opens her mouth!!
she can't seem to utter a sentence without a "duh" "uh" or "um." She's hard to understand at times because of her lack of clarity too. Her lectures are a waste of time to go to.
She rocks....nicest lady ever
What was that exam all about?
can't stand her and her course material. she's boring
Although she seemed tough in Phys I (KINE 3011), I had her again in my 4th year and she was fantastic. Very smart and really willing to help you if you're having trouble understanding.
doesn't really answer questions well, she sort of diverts the answer onto another topic. an okay prof, but not very clear
Pretty boring lectures. Harder tests with her than other prof but pretty fair. Just know lots of details.
Good course, decent prof (monotone & slow but clear), A+ is attainable with good class notes and a bit of scanning of the textbook. Biol1010 & anatomy helped a lot.
She is really good at lecturing, she speaks nice and slowly! Defintely a class where you can boost your GPA if you are good in the sciences. I think Haas was an ok prof, but Hawke was excellent-his teaching style is orgainzed, he'll make you laugh at 9AM!
Honestly, not a very good prof. She just doesn't measure up to Dr.Hood and Dr. Cafarelli. She was so dull that she managed to make something as interesting as physiology dull. Not approachable, tricky test and overall bad!
She talks so slowly that you might fall asleep and she is extremely passive aggressive when you talk to her one on one. Her method of examination is more trickly than Professor Hawke even though the material is no harder.

Trouble not falling asleep. Treats people better in her advanced phys class but cant say i blame her. Very nice and chippery.
Thank GOD she's not teaching phys II anymore - she sucks and she definitely needs to learn how to explain things better!
She's way to quick and doesnt explain concept very well
easily the worst phys prof, especially compared to Hood and Caffarelli. she explains ok, but her tests are hard. during the lectures you actually wish you were deaf. she didnt round off my 79.6!!! horrible.
snoozefest
Annoying voice..."Annnnnnnd..."
Very very helpful. Goes over material very carefully and in a manner that is highly conductive to learning. Overall one of the best profs I have had!
Very slow (too slow) and usually clear, although sometimes I felt like she should have reviewed the material the night before. She is happy to explain things, but NOT in least bit helpful if there is a problem with the class (not a very nice person). As it's been put - she's passive aggressive 1 on
She is sooooooo boring. Makes you want to sleep. Her approach to teaching is that it should be slow, detailed, passive, uninteractive and assumptive. Questions about confusing concepts are not explained well. She doesn't teach the material she shows it and tells it.
1 on 1 SUCKS! if you need help, you are better off talking to the floor. not helpful at all, teaches like you are in kindergarten
Tests are pretty difficult. her lectures are boring and it is hard to pay attention. would not take an upper year course with her.
Not someone you can have a conversation with, but I never needed to because she spoke slowly and clearly. I always understood the material when she taught it, but maybe it was because her material was pretty easy.
I think her pace is moderate, and although it's a little dry, the lectures make sense. She's a pretty good prof., but if ur pretty dedicated to the course, it'll be a breeze.

She talks slowly and clearly. I found her tests or her part of the test to be quite fair. Not very good at answering questions but the material she was teaching was relatively straight forward.
SOOOO boring
an awesome prof! her and the other 3 profs for kine 3011 has made this course the most enjoyable one i had so far! a bit monotone, but her teaching and explanation of concepts really makes up for it. Just show up for class, pay attention and study = A+. Tests were easy, as long as you studied you be fine! Got easily over 90% with her test!
The way she taught vs what was on the test were two different things.
HORRIBLE... i took this class in '05, and she talked to people like you were in kindergarten and when i went in to get help, she refused to help me, as her tests are deceiving...awful person, awful professor
Dr Haas is a bit monotone and seems to drone on and on, especially when the class is at 9:30am. But I guess the repetition of everything is worthwile in the end. If you study, her tests are doable. Having a cheat sheet on the final was a wicked gift! However, she's rather unapproachable and not the friendliest. I recommend recording lectures.
Not a good prof. Talking one on one is horrible, refuses to help. Test seem easy, but marks are allways low. Perhaps because TA don't even mark the entire exam! Make sure you take a look at each exam after recieving grades... TA's make way too many mistakes. Final is mostly focused on stuff not tested.
I hate this proff. Even though if never had her.joke.I have :(
Professor Hass teaches one thing and tests another. Her exams may as well be in a foreign language.
She makes her exams very difficult! The wording is difficult to understand, you have to re-read it 5 times before you know what the questions are asking. Would no recommend taking a class with her if you have a choice..( i didn't)
She is very monotone and seems to lose track of what she is talking about... She does not answer questions in class when people ask a question or when she asks if anyone has a question. She is dry and its too bad because with a subject like Physiology, you need a good prof that makes the material interesting but that is not the case here
tells you how to approach the material-study lectures. This is key. I am generally a bad listener. I took advantage of the online video. I usually watched half then break then the other half. Pausing when confused. Exams were 100% fair. She was helpful and professional with questions. Online support great! Love vids/practice quizes.
I don't understand all the negative comments. She always answered questions I e-mailed to her promptly. Lectures are clear and she talks slow enough. Never saw her be rude to anyone or "treat them like a kid". Tests were fair and not too tricky understanding the questions. I like the extra learning tools she provides on moodle :)
I think she is a great prof. She is extremely nice, very dorky which makes her adorable haha. She never ceases to crack jokes that nobody understands but I laugh anyway. She takes her time explaining every concept well. Some people may find her boring because she repeats herself a lot but that's to ensure understanding. She looks really young!
She is the friendliest prof I have met so far.Dont understand how she got such low ratings. She tries to make her lectures interesting, just the nature of the course that's dry. She is extremely approachable (even though I never talked to her) and she doesn't put up that prof authority thing. She is very nice!!Exam=fair, gotta study!!
By far the worst prof I've had at York so far. Lectures are very difficult to follow and she shows absolutely no enthusiasm when teaching. Also, she is not at all approachable so trying to ask her for help is useless. She seems really smart though, but that doesn't necessarily mean she is a good teacher.
she says 'uhhh' atleast 100 times per lecture, indescribably annoying
No doubt she knows her stuff. However, some people are not meant to teach. I did not find her to be the greatest teacher and not trully clear with her answers when someone asked a question. Exams are extremely tricky.
Exams are totally fair, if u study (she even allowed a cheat sheet!). Her lectures are not incredibly interesting but she does try to crack a joke here and there. She'll help if you ask. Fair prof, interesting course.
Well this year, it is heard quite unanimously how much students dislike her. I don't like professors who trick students on the exams by turning and twisting the wordings, this isn't an English course, maybe she's confused. Put her back on the shelf and bring our Dr Connor back..
you're going to have to rely heavily on Khan academy, Interactive biology and Andrew Wolf via youtube when you have her. After watching the videos, understanding it thoroughly, then listening to Haas' lecture recordings... it becomes evident how poorly she delivers the material... The way she speaks doesn't help, she's really unpleasantly nerdy
very confusing, and makes the material much more complicated than it is...
Dr. Haas is a good professor. Her exams are fair as long as you study the material. She is passionate about what she teaches and it's evident during her lectures. The labs are mark boosters so make sure you go to them and study for the quizzes. Overall, good course, good prof!
u do have to rely a lot on online videos. she's like a really arrogant nerd that seem to take it out on students
Well, very knowledgeable prof, she spends a lot of time on explaining each topic. She is a good teacher but very boring in sense the lectures are hard to stay awake in. Her tests have repetitive questions, so if u don't know 1 concept, you are doomed for the rest of the test. Again, she's not as bad as she seem right now.
Dr Haas is very kind and she is not boring nor monotone. Her test Qs are very straight forward
Dr. Haas is a good professor. Make sure you have good notes as most of the exam questions are based on what she said rather than what is written in the course kit.
Tara is an okay professor. She takes her time explaining topics but can be very boring and hard to follow since she uses ummm alot... Her tests are very fair just make sure to study and you can ace the course.
something about her voice makes you wanna sleep.
Prof. Haas was an OK prof. At times it felt like she didn't really introduce a topic with enough background and sort of jumped right in. Not exactly the clearest but tests are easy if you take good notes during class. Interesting course but wasn't the best prof to teach it
Her teaching skills are on point (complete slides, good organization, etc.) but her voice is monotone and it can be a challenge to stay awake, especially if you're class is early in the morning. The course work is tough but her tests are fair. Textbook NOT required. Taking good notes and studying her slides will all-but guarantee your A.
Dr. Haas is hands down fantastic as a Professor and a person. Study for the course, stay up to date with the material and you should get some of the most fair tests in all 4 years of kinesiology. Dr. Haas encourages participation and emails you back almost immediately. I wish I could take this course 10 more times. 2 MC tests, one paper, 1 poster
Compared to Dr. Connor who taught the first half of the course, she wasn't anything special, although not a bad professor by any means. A little monotone but is quite clear. She says a lot of things that aren't stated (but rather vaguely implied) in the course notes so I recommend taking good notes.
Not amazing, but good lecturer. Class attendance is recommended to do well, along with good note taking skills. Nit-picky with test marking, but difficulty is fair.
She is a better lecturer in KINE 4453 vs phys 2 but she is still boring. BUT, KIne 4453 is super interesting which makes up for it. Course is purely lecture based so take good notes. Exams are fair but hard so you have to put work into it (she puts application questions). Presentation isn't that bad but requires critical thinking. A is attainable
Her lectures are absolutely boring. Monotone voice and looks uninterested in what she teaches.
This professor is probably the worst professor that I have ever come across. She is completely uninterested in teaching and puts you to sleep. You are basically on your own she is terrible at explaining difficult concepts and says "Uhm" maybe about 500 times per lecture. Her tests are also extremely hard and honestly she is not good.
Straightforward Professor, knows hers stuff, Tests can be really difficult and tricky
I enjoyed her part of the course. Tests are hard but you can do good if you keep up with the lecture readings!
I like her, she is kind but her test requires good think especially with the question with two of the above options, she is a little tricky but if you study hard you should be fine. She didn't bell curve so don't expect that. make sure to be well rested the night before so your brain is not tired, more importantly, do not study the night before or u
Her lectures are totally unengaging and boring. Her lectures are about 45-50 minutes long but can easily be reduced to 30 mins if it were not for the amount of umms and uggghs throughout her lectures. She also goes a little of topic and sometimes gives non important information (may confuse you). Professor Connor was great, I wish he did the class.
This prof does everything that our teachers from elementary school told us not to do. She says "ummm" and "uhhh" more then she says actual words. This is incredibly annoying when you are in lecture, and it is even more annoying when you're at home listening to the recordings because you missed something in class.
The most stressful course in the kinesiology department at york. Her lectures are unengaging, confusing and could easily be shortened if she didn't say "umm" & "uhh" 560 times a lecture.
She is really tough! I put in lots of effort (relistened to each lecture, studied for hours) and still didn't get the mark I thought I deserved. The questions on the test are crazy, combining info from like 3 dif things we learned about. Also very rude and not accomodating for makeup exams for legitimate reasons. Pretty full of herself as well.
Dr. Haas is a great lecturer, don't get me wrong. She knows her stuff and explains it well, but I felt that the TESTS do not accurately test our knowledge of the content. There are some questions with 8 options for M/C, and if we really should be connecting everything in the course, I feel like that should be taught more in depth than left for us.
This is by no means an easy course. Dr Haas is a okay professor. She is a very knowledgeable professor who explains things pretty clearly. Her tests are definitely not easy but they do test your overall knowledge. Make sure to study for this course well ahead of exams as the material builds upon the basic concepts of Organ Physiology.
Pay attention in class and youll learn everythings there is that she wants you to learn
Get ready to work your ass off in Kine 3012! Not to be over-dramatic, but this is going to be one of the most difficult courses you will take in the program. All i can say is make sure you go to lectures, stay caught up, do the mid term exams and go to your labs! The exams really go in depth and test your knowledge on the course. DO NOT slack off!
Rude. Condescending. Ambiguous. Unreasonable. Unclear. Those are words I would use to describe Tara Haas. KINE 3012 is not easy by any means. But she makes it way more challenging then it needs to be. The final was so unfair and it was because of her. I studied so much and still found the final challenging. Thank for for the midterms.
Awful just awful. Gave her the benefit of the doubt after 3012, but shes even worse in her own class. Rambles on and explains poorly and expects way more from us than is expected. Avoid her to maintain your sanity
Dr. Haas is truly an expert in her field. For anyone that wants to learn real vascular physiology, take her classes. Clear explanations, and clear outlines for test/evaluations. You wont regret it! :)
She is a great prof. Very fair assessments, and her lectures are interesting. Shows a lot of research within her lectures, which I found to be very interesting, as a lot of profs don't seem to do this. I learned valuable skills on how to analyze research articles because of this class. The tests are open book, so actually understand the material.
Pros: her midterms are open-book, she is kind, knowledgeable, and helpful, provides practise questions and answer key. Cons: material is quite challenging, slides are messy, lack information, and often do not flow in the most logical fashion, hard marker. Attendance is 10% of grade which can be good or bad depending on your situation.
She is an okay teacher. However I believe she often uses her grad school course material to create undergrad courses which in turn makes the course harder given undergraduate knowledge. She is definitely knowledgable but there are better KINE profs that bring more energy and fun to the class. Would only take her class if desperate.
I am surprised that she has a low rating - I took her course last year and really enjoyed the content and lectures. She would give a lot of metaphors to help us understand the content better and really wants everyone to succeed by making the class fun. One of the best and resourceful profs in KINE I have had. 10/10, would take again if I could.
She's a very nice person but a very bad lecturer, she rambles quite often, her slides were awful and impossible to understand clearly. The content of the class was very heavy. She records her lectures but they're also bad quality. The only upside was that the midterms and the final were open book which saved my grade.
Haas is a nice prof, but I would only take this class because of the open book tests which saved my grade. The slides are messy and unorganized, her lecture skills are not good considering she's been a prof for years. It made the class boring and not engaging, I had to watch recordings on 2x speed. Tests and assignments were fair though
Not the best lecturer but her exams are open book. 2 midterms, reading test where we printed an article and a final. She is very kind and will answer your questions thoroughly as she is pretty experienced. Material is a bit messy so stay organized. We also had participation apart of our grade but engagement in the class was relatively low.
