She is very easy. 25% of grade are 1 paragraph summaries of about 20 short stories. 25% is a VERY EASY presentation on a short story, an 50% of the grade is on a 10 pg term paper. That is all that you work on during semester. A+++

10 page paper is a pain, but she is really nice. Besides the final, the class is really easy.

She does have an opinion about everyone, but she presents them humorously & warns that she will when the sem. begins. She made me want to come to class!

Easy assignments. One class presentation. And a 5 page essay due at the end of the semseter. She will help you every step of the way. Class was intresting and she is an excellent professor

She's a very wise, funny, and helpful teacher and made a subject I don't care interesting. The 10 page paper under a specific structure was a pain!!

at first i was pessimitic taking this class with her; but i ended up liking her. she is feminist and liberal. her class is easy and it makes you think a lot. you have to read two short stories a week, 10 page paper due at the end, and one presentation. we get into class discussions which is great. just attend every class and keep up with your paper

Kai is an excellant teacher!! She really loves what she does and it shows. She is big on class participation but its not so bad. She also gives extra credit opprotunuties! A lot of reading but the stories are pretty good. She is really eccentric and it can get on your nerves but she is nice and helpful.

i love this class. she does have assignments due everyday before class online, but all that really affects your grade is just turning in your summaries and attending class for discussion, and not to mention the 10 page term paper in which she gives you half the semester to complete it. I am totally going to take the next class she teaches.

I fell in love with this class. It's not an easy A by any means, but you'll learn a lot about society and women's issues. Lots of intense readings. Prof. Kai is very straight forward about everything. I would definitely reccomend her.

A very good teacher, she keeps one interested and fully in the discussion. Attendance is a must, and if you mess up she gives you chances to make it up. She doesnt really have quizzes or tests most of her grade is based on a research paper. She takes you through step-by step its not too hard,just time consuming. it sure does beat constant studying

The same with womens studies. Class s based on reading and writing a research paper. She is always available for help. Paper is time consuming, but other than that the class is great. Always a good discussion and she gets everyone involved.

great professor, i had her for ENC 1102 and she is just all around nice. her class is not hard, just a 10 page paper that is actually very easy and a few easy readings to submit for hw. womens studies gets a little boring after the first month because the topics are repetitive but its an easy class and an easy A.

She has honestly been one of the best professors I've had over the years. The class is very interesting especially because it's all based on short stories. I learned a great deal from this class and would recommend it to anyone. Do go to class and do the homework otherwise she will put your name on the board like a child. Really awesome class...

This teacher is amazing i highly reccomend her for this class. She actually teache u and u actually learn. Shes very funny too, she always throws smart remarks about the government and how much it sux! Only thing was that 10 pg paper at the end, but she still helped me and i got a B+ in the class.

One of the best teachers I've ever had! There is no reason for anyone to come out of her class with anything lower than a B. It is that interesting...there is never a dull moment. Take her class if you have the chance, you won't regret it. There is not much writing involved in this class, the only big assignment is the final paper which is 10 pgs.

she was nice, she does have some interesting political views that she tries to drill into you during class but it was always cool to listen to them. you write alot of papers in her class and I basically learned how to write because of this class, the final is 10 pages but it wasn't too bad

I loved her as a professor . Our grade was based on 3 papers a presentation (which almost everyone got an A) and participation and story summaries.

Tara is one of FIU's best! She's very nice, funny and interesting. She will keep you well informed of whats on her mind. =) class= summaries, presentation, 3 essays & a final term paper which is a pain, but taking the class with her is worth the effort. She's great. I wish more professors on campus were as dedicated and friendly as she is. =D

Some of her papers were really hard to write,esp. the 10 page paper. Other than that, her classes were interesting even though she tries to bring her extreamly libral ideologies to class.

Interesting Class. I learn a lot from it. She is friendly, occasionaly funny, smart and an awesome teacher. She takes into account participation and attendance. Ive had Tara for two different courses now: ENC 1102 and ENG 2012. I think shes a great professor! she makes class very interesting. The only difficult aspect is the term paper, but the class is worth the week of stress. Its a great class, you really learn alot. Tara is fun and tends to think outside the box which i really appreciate :)

She is a great professor and I enjoyed her class. The students are able to speak their thoughts and debate on certain topics. My no means is this class “easy” but it’s not hard. You have to work. There is a lot of reading and summarizing, which are pretty easy.There are also about 4 essays to do but she’ll help you.

Amazing professor. Amazing class. She knows what she is talking about and makes you think about relating literature to your everyday life. Not a difficult course but you must do the reading and attend because you have to sumbit summaries on the readings 2 a week. 1 presentation, and a 10 page research analysis paper.

This is by far my favorite teacher at FIU! She is really helpful and genuinely cares what the students think. You should read the books and do the required summaries every week so that you can be prepared to answer questions in class. As long as you go to class, do the summaries, and take notes (to work on the 10-page paper), you will get an A!

Women's Studies class- I took this class online. Very helpful and informative. SHe's lenient. All opinion based after you do the readings. You'll be happy.

Overall, The online course is very easy. Weekly discussions (1) and replies(3) and none during the week of the test. Tests rely heavily on the reading in the main textbook and the short stories thereafter. But, you will need all 3 books. Easy A class but you have to work for that A with a lot of reading. Learned a lot about feminism.

She is an amazing teacher! Very nice and makes the class fun. The work is easy yet I have learned a lot from her. She gives you a study guide to follow and as long as you follow it and do the hw, you will get an A. Almost everyone has a 100% in my class. I highly recommend taking this class with her!

Online-very interesting class and super easy. Prof was very helpful and responded quick to emails. If you do the discussions and skim the book for tests, you will probably earn an A. Very easy class.

Professor Kai is a really good teacher! The class isn't too hard, she gives you an article weekly and you have to write a research paper which is 50% of your grade! There's no tests, the research paper submission is your final! Everything is online, so no textbook. Overall, I found this class easy! :)

Prof. Kai is the best English professor I have ever had. She is straightforward and very clear in her instructions. Do the weekly summaries and the paragraphs for the 10 pg paper and you will have an EASY A. She is always available for extra help if you need it. She wants you to learn and is genuinely interested in your success. LOVED her!

This prof is beyond easy. I HATE english & i took this online at BC & it was a piece of cake! Probably the easiest A Ive ever had. I wish she was teaching 1102. Her personality is very dry through her emails, she doesnt say much. But shes still nice. Only 4 essays &they are all under 2 pages! So easy! TAKE HER! I promise you wont regret it!

Took this class online at BC. Not the easiest class and a bit challenging, but professor Tara made the difference. Such a easy going and helpful professor. Essays were a bit challenging but very interesting subjects that makes you think before you write. not the easiest A that I have ever got, but thanks to professor Tara's help I got an A.

I took ENC1101 online at Broward College with Ms. Tara Kai. The class was pretty simple, directions are clear and specific, and there are not an abundance of assignments. She is there for help if you need her, and gives feedback on every paper. Some teachers require postings in the discussion area, but she does not. A fairly easy and good teacher.

Honestly you already have to be feminist to enjoy this class. There are constant discussion posts every week and they get really annoying. The tests are so unclear and impossible to get an A on. Avoid taking, i saw the rating and i was fooled.

I'm a guy who's loving this class. It has opened my eyes to Women's issues. As to the student's comment from 1/28/14 about "having discussions every week" and not getting an A. Really? We're in week 3!!! I never took an online class that DIDN'T have discussions every week. I am in college to be challenged and work for my "A".

Class is easy, but a lot of reading, especially if you have other classes that require a lot of reading as well. Professor is very helpful and quick at posting grades. Besides the amount of required weekly reading I have no complaints. Regular online requirements: 3 discussion post a week and a quiz.

I took this class with Prof. Kai at BC. She's the greatest English teacher I've ever had! She's very helpful and gives you chances to submit rough drafts for review by her before the final draft is due. There are some small quizzes and 4 major papers. Do the work, go through the powerpoints and communicate with her so you'll be sure to pass.

Keep up with your syllabus and meet deadlines. Other than that, easy class.

Ms. Kai is very kind in her emails and responds within a few hours. She sends updates and also places them in the announcements. She has rubrics for every essay that are idiot proof. The course is easy to follow and the links provide all the information you need. Do the easy quizzes, send your essays to smarkthinking tutors, and keep to deadlines.

The class was very interesting and not so hard. There were discussion posts and quizzes due every week. You have to read a lot and even if you read everything some of the questions on the quizzes are very vague. She is a great professor and responds quickly to emails. However the class was disorganized mainly due to technical problems.

Weekly discussions. Weekly quizzes(they were very confusing, had to get info from 2 different books, ?s were very vague & unclear). 2 group Essays(called Wiki). Other than that, helpful, responds to emails fast. NONE extra credit opportunity. Class is kinda boring & VERY feminist!!! If you average C's but do ok in everything else u will pass w/B!!

The course was great. I learned a lot. There are 4 essays to write and Prof. Kai has a rubric for everyone. She also gives thorough feedback on all essays. You also have a chance to submit essays to smarthinking. Discussions cover the course topic. Obviously, since it's an online course, you have to discipline yourself to work by deadlines.

Loved this course. No textbook needed. Just go through each unit. All units are clear and the quizzes are easy. She gives very detailed feedback on your 4 essays and uses rubrics for every essay. If you follow the 100 point rubric, you can't go wrong. I sent my essays to Smarthinking and they gave me grammar and spelling feedback too.

This was the first course where I actually got feedback on my essays - line by line. Expect to read through all the units by yourself - it's online :O Then take the quizzes (very easy)You get to re-submit one of your essays again for a better grade - I did my MLA research one. It's great that you don't need a textbook everything is online.

Easy class with an easy A. Easy assignments and discussion subjects. Professor Kai always respond to email within hours. no extra credits but none were needed. ended up with 95/100 overall score.

2nd English class I've taken with her. Easy as long as you put in the work.

This is the second class I took with Prof. Kai. Instructions are very clear. You don't need to buy a text book. She's very helpful and emails you within a few hours if you have questions. But be prepared to write essays and know your MLA. I'm taking the Short Story Class with her this time around. You get the rubric before you start - very fair.

This class was a bit too easy, writing emails and memos. The assignments are linked back to the text book examples so you can't go wrong. Course is very clear and she answers all questions immediately. Very helpful professor.

Best writing course and no textbook needed. She is very helpful and responds to queries within minutes. Be prepared to write 4 essays. If you stick to the deadlines and the rubric she provides, you can't go wrong. She kindly extended one of my deadlines. I submitted my essays to smarthinking for grammar and spell check prior to submission.

Finally a course that does not underestimate our intelligence as college students. Either courses are being dumbed down or I need to change colleges. The story selections and questions made me think critically and I felt challenged. Read the content, do quizzes and post discussions and write one paper. Professor was very clear and responsive.

Easy course for those who like to write. If writing is not your strength, then you still have a chance to submit all your essays to the online tutors before you submit your essays. I took 1101 with this professor and got an A. I got an A for this course too. Great course. Units are clear and she explains things well. You really can't go wrong. You would have to miss a lot of easy deadlines and assignments to get an F.

Interesting course and easy A. I don't understand the haters that say professors don't "teach" Hello!! this is an online class. You do the quizzes, post the discussions, submit an assignment and get grades and comments back. If you can't do something that simple, then take a campus class where they hold your hand and spoon feed you too.

I took a class on campus with this professor. She is by far the best English professor I've had. Interesting class discussions which made the time go by fast. This time, I took this online class which was almost too easy. 2 thumbs up.

A friend of mine recommended this course. I took the accelerated semester so there was about 250 pages of reading (all short stories). It's manageable because there's only one research paper at the end and you post critical responses to questions about the short stories. If you love to read, can post by deadlines, and write, it's an easy A.

I took 1101 with another professor online and failed (I didn't do much work for it) All these 1101 online courses are identical - the only difference is how much time you invest and can you meet the deadlines? The professors grade the discussions, respond to your questions and give you feedback on the essays. She gave extensions and graded on time.

Easy peasy. 2nd online course with her. Just read the course content and the book chapters, do quizzes and discussions and assignments. She's fast at responding and very detailed in her feedback. Would take classes with her again.

I took this class as an elective because I like to read fiction. The short stories were not too long (except Conrad's "Heart of Darkness")The discussions prepare you to think analytically and the professor guides you in your paper topic. It's easy if you already know how to write a research paper using MLA. I would take another class with her.

Very kind professor. I couldn't get enrolled until 10 days after the course had begun. The professor sent me the syllabus, assignments and allowed me to take the quizzes that I had missed. English is my major so it was very important for me to pass with a good grade. Stories were interesting and grading is very fair.

One of the best courses I've taken so far. Love, love, loved the short stories and the question choices (you have a choice of 3 questions to answer per week in the discussion forum). I a million questions about my research topic (which I changed 3 times). Ms. Kai patiently answered all my questions and I ended up writing a killer paper and got an A

Nice teacher. Very prompt in her feedback and grades. No textbook required. All you need is in course units or hyperlinks. 4 essays are required (all these online 1101 courses are the same just taught by different professors) so you can't get away from not writing essays. Smarthinking helped me correct my essays before I submitted them for a grade.

Very helpful professor. No weekly discussions (correction - at least they're not graded). Just weekly quizzes and 3 essays and one self-evaluation essay. No book needed. Clear instructions and unit contents. Easy A.

I took this class with another professor on campus and failed. What a difference with Ms. Kai. She reviews your thesis topic paragraph and sentences for approval before you write your paper. She grades everything early with lots of feedback. Extra credit for SmarThinking review. You can re-submit one of your essays for a better grade.

I've never met Professor Kai in person, but I feel like I have. You will never find a professor that takes time for her students; when it comes to grading essays, she provides feedback and grades according to the syllabus. I learned a lot and improve my writing skills thanks to her. I will definitely recommend her as one of the best professors.

Excellent professor. She was very kind and willing to help. Some of her papers were rather tedious but as long as you do what is asked you should be good.

She is a really nice teacher! As long as you read the syllabus and submit your work on time you should be fine. Her instructions are clear, and the class isn't hard if you can manage your time. I would absolutely take again.

Great professor. Although I didn't get to finish one assignment that was worth 30% of my grade on time, she helped me out with some extra points and was able to pass with a passing grade. She is very clear cut, very straightforward, but she is very helpful and will direct you in the correct path.

Miss Tara Kai is a very organized teacher.. She is very lenient with grades I believe you can get a good grade once she sees your effort. Also this class is time consuming there are many quizzes, assignments and three papers for which you have to write introductory paragraphs and topic sentences. So be prepared to have a lot of work.

I didn't know what writing meant until I took this class. First 2 essays are without ANY research. So you have to write a persuasive and a visual analytics essay using YOUR OWN WORDS! The 3rd essay is research-based using library articles - tough if you don't know how to use MLA. The last one is a self-evaluation of your own writing. I Recommend!!!

This class was a technical writing class. We learned how to write resumes, cover letters, memos etc. Grading was very fair, nice lady. If you do the work this class will be an easy A

Great class - you write 3 essays and do research. I learned about topic sentences, body paragraphs, academic research and MLA formatting. Prof. Kai responded almost immediately to all of my questions. Thorough feedback on essays on spelling, grammar, content and arguments. She has a very clear rubric - idiot proof. Tutor submission required.

No textbooks needed. Course units have everything from sample topic sentences to sample essays. The teacher is very fair and nice. She keeps you up to date with what you need. Before you must submit Smarthinking online and they will tell you what to change. Also you do some grammar tests with Mylab - a lot of work so your English MUST be good.

Miss Kai was a great teacher. I took her ENC1101 class online. Do not expect extra credit work. We had 3 major essays that were apart of our grades and the mylab website is very important. You DO work hard for your grade so do not expect a free A.

Professor Kai was an amazing teacher! I took her class online and we basically had to complete the MyLabs assignments by the due dates and submit our essays when they were due. What is expected of your essay is very clear and she is always available to help you - even at the last minute. Expect to work for your grade!

Ms. Kai was my very first professor ever and she met every expectation of mine. As long as you follow her criteria and grading rubrics you will pass with an A. I highly recommend Professor Kai!

Online Course, Professor was very active via the online forum. Syllabus was accurately defined. Was my first course back to college in over 10 years, and first ever online Was Great. 3 Essays, got an A on all 3. The online homework was a little tedious.

Took this online. 3 papers and no tests. If you had a question on anything, she would reply right away. Grades right away as well.

Prof. Kai's class is tough but I learned a lot. Be ready to do lots of prep work on Mylabs plus. If your command of the English language is not good, these tests make up 10% of your grade. She gives feedback to everything you do. So as long as you follow the instructions and feedback, you'll do well. She's also ready to help with navigation issues.

Lots of little assignments with clear instructions. If you follow instructions and submit on time, it's an easy A. A couple of the links were broken and prof had to submit a ticket to get them fixed. This is annoying for a 6-week course because time matters. As for any online class you need to take a lot more initiative and ask questions and work.

Great course and great teacher. Everything was organized with deadlines. She responds within a couple of hours. I will be looking out for other courses that Ms. Kai teaches.

Prof Kai's class is easy if you follow the deadlines, instructions and use the templates. I took the online course in Broward College and it was broken down into modules that made sense to me. I didn't like Pearson's Mywritinglab work because it took up a lot of my time to gauge my English but it only makes up 10% of your grade. Essays are easy.

All reading stuff (poetry, short stories & articles) are online & inside the course so no textbooks. Analysis and posting in discussion area and responding to other students but short. 1 poetry analysis, 1 compare & contrast and 1 research paper. All with Broward College Online. Ms. Kai is fair but strict with deadlines. She responds fast to email
