Dr.Kuther was very helpful and made sure you understood the info. Tests are kind of hard but the quizes every class and online part bring up your grade easily, as long as you read.
She a fun teacher. She made child psych real interesting even if it wasnt' your major. The tests were a little hard but as long as you review and re-read you should do alright. The online portion of class definatly helps you.
Kuther was nice, but if you plan on taking this class be prepared to never be absent, and the tests were hard although she was a fair grader.
Overall Dr. Kuther is a pretty good teacher as long as you go to class and follow directions.
didnt know this class was half online she is not a good teacher and she does not explain herself. makes you feel unintelligent with her large vocabulary.
Overall Dr. Kuther is a pretty good teacher as long as you go to class and follow directions
I hated her class, it was very hard and she didnt explain anything at all. The tests are also hard I am def. not looking foward to the final
Horrible teacher! Tough to follow and makes you feel stupid. Doesn't explain anything and has very poor teaching style. Kinda hot, but crapy personailty! She should stick to writing books.
This woman is all over the place! Her tests are impossible, and she is not a fair grader. She has too many students to worry about so she dosn't even know who you are.If you can avoid her by all means do!
She is too cocky for her own good. She thinks that we should know as much as she does because she's some doctor at age 20. She has a horrible attitude. The only good thing is the class once a week and posting online which is the only thing that can keep your grade up!
Not labeled as a hybrid course even though it turned out to be one...didn't like that at all. she's not very approachable and her tests are tough. a mass of videos and not much else...she can be cocky and not really open to explanation. a major disppointment...
One word: SNOB! This lady is extreeeemely critical and embarrasses people in class with her snotty remarks when kids don't understand something. Everyone studies for everything for her tests yet we all seem to get D's or F's. I would NEVER reccommend this class to anyone. Don't bother...
Hard Class, especially the tests, and also did not know it was a hybrid class until class started. Post weren't hard but she never would really explain what she wanted for posts. If you went to class and did the classwork your grade might turnout alright.
Oh my god! I was a psych major and changed my major because of her. She has got to be very uninterested in teaching and is probably too self centered and wrapped up in her own life.I'm sorry ,but, she should not be teaching. She is so dissintested in her students that she does not even know who you are.Everybody flunks all of her tests.
You guys are out of your minds, Kuther is a great teacher. She knows her stuff and she expects her students to push themsleves. I took the highest level psy class with her and she can be hard and I got an A. She has had some problems of her own but doesn't everyone. She has lacked during some semesters but overall she is a great teacher.
watched movies most the time, very little lecturing/explaining/teaching.. it was always movies and the text book. also seemed very nervous to be in front of the class and was rude and some questions on her tests were very unclear
Not the easiest class I've taken, but got a "B" (my only one...ruined my 4.0) :-P Oh well, probably could have gotten an "A" had I worked harder. Participation and hard work is the key and she certainly is very absorbed in what she does, so very interested in psychology. Tests were rather hard though considering the amount I did study...I wouldn't recommend the class personally; however she isn't as bad as some make her out to be (certainly a genuinely nice person).
Teaches at a true college level which is a turn off for many. However if you are serious about learning psychology and not just breezing through her class half asleep she is a brillant professor who teaches the class in an in depth way, not just covering the basics and moving on. She has my highest recommendation.
available, good class
Well her class definitely wasn't easy and I really think she was biased towards girls. Overall though, she's good, but I was glad when it was over.
Ive had Dr. Kuther for many classes before, she is very intelligent. Her directions are at times very unclear, and when you ask for help she just has the tendency to confuse you further. She is a sweet lady, if you stay on her good side. Go to class, participate and do your work and you should be fine. She is famous for going off on tangents though
Dr. Kuther knows her stuff pretty well. Out of all the seminars, she is the only one to analyze articles instead of doing an experiment, which was a plus for me. You HAVE to take this class by itself, not because it's incredibly hard, but because the workload is overwhelming. Good Luck.
This professor knows her stuff and if you need any help she's always willing. My best advice is to always READ!!
Tara was an awesome teacher. I always sat at the front of class. There were almost always class discussions/ story sharing by both Dr. Kuther and students. If you remember what it was like to be an adolescent and you like relatively simple work, you'll love this class. If you come and participate, there's no way you won't pass.
Dr.Kuther is great! There are times when she may be unclear. She is very willing & helpful when you ask questions. She keeps the atmosphere light and sometimes breaks into groups to analyze readings. The papers are short but the articles can be difficult to understand. If you need help, make sure you have a specific question. My fav. prof. yet!!!!!
Not nearly as bad as some of the reviews on here. She's very intelligent and lets you know what you'll be tested on. As long as you study and go to class you'll do fine.
She was a great teacher, i actually learned alot in her class. She kept things interesting and she presented the matieral clearly. Her test were somewhat hard but other then that she was a good teacher.
Really fun topics that you learn about.
Great professor. Very active academically in the psychology field and presents the material seamlessly. Another professor that gets a bad rep because people come into class and expect A's yet never show up or listen. Have to put effort forward to get a good grade, but if you do you do learn from a very knowledgeable professor.
If you really do the work well, then you will have a strong understanding of the material. Analysis papers are very helpful and articles are intersting. Very helpful teacher-will explain things as many times as necessary. favorite teacher of mine
My favorite teacher! Put in the effort & you will get alot out of class. Puts as much effort into student as student puts into class. Very knowledgeable about development. Very interesting lectures, be prepared to take alot of notes. Online quiz weekly on textbook reading. Tests based on applying concepts, not just defining terms. Very dedicated.
HORRIBLE she will try and screw u over if u send her emails she will not answer them idk how sum1 culd want 2 b a teacher an not wanna help students she inspired me 2 b a teacher jus so i can help them out unlike this lady aka satin
Shes totally unfair and the class is useless. I could have spent my time better some where else. Don't take her, you will regret it!
Dr. Kuther happens to be a very well rounded teacher who is extremely easy to follow. I have to say, in my many years of attending college?Dr. Kuther happens to be the best professor I ever had. I highly recommend taking any of her classes. She is a world of knowledge. You will walk away a smarter person!
Dr. Kuther happens to be a very well rounded teacher who is extremely easy to follow. I have to say, in my many years of attending college?Dr. Kuther happens to be the best professor I ever had. I highly recommend taking any of her classes. She is a world of knowledge. You will walk away a smarter person! Thanks Mary Ellen Pataro
She is very clear and repetitive but her tests are extremely difficult. In order to do well in her class you need to read everything and study from the book NOT THE SLIDES. The only thing I would say that was unfair is when I asked her if I could redo a paper she said no
Dr. Kuther is an amazing teacher. She has a sense of humor and is laid back with makes class fun and enjoyable, but she also teaches you a lot. I also love that she's a working professional in the field and has written a ton of books. She's fair and relevant, if you love psych, take her class.
She is awesome ! Take her class =] She makes lectures interesting. I have not missed a day & is the only class I enjoy going to this semester. Take notes, participate in discussions and you'll do fine. Weekly quizzes based on objectives, tests are straightforward. Very helpful and knowledgeable prof.
Detached from students, she blamed low test scores on the material she was explaining and held us responsible. She's not skilled at teaching despite he knowledge on the subject matter. Would recommend another professor who makes you work, but admits to areas where they are weak and may lead to the lack of clarity coming from the professor to the st
Surprisingly difficult teacher. Tests are very difficult as most of the material isn't covered or stressed in class. Required to do a lot of text reading outside of class if you expect to pass. She is highly not recommended.
we didnt really use the second book. She gave a list of objectives of what's important so I dont know what people are talking about. read show up and take notes and youll be fine
fun topic. Classes were interesting but tests were hard. The project was hard but she made time to talk to her in her office
She is a great teacher! Yes the test may be difficult but she gives weekly quizzes & the question is an objective she gives you, so that helps your grade & the lit review you cannot do wrong on it just follow the outline she gives you and you'll do great. She also makes herself available during her office hours so go see her if your haing problems
I took her for two classes at the same time, you do use the book a lot. Lots of reading, but as long as your willing to study and show up to lectures you'll learn a lot from her. Don't expect to get a good grade if you don't put any effort.
I had her for Adult Years, and it was one of the hardest, but best, classes I've ever had. Her tests were ridiculously difficult, and you will need to study, but she is very willing to help outside of class, and she's extremely trustworthy. Any sort of problems you have with life, class, etc, she'll help with
one of the top classes ive taken at wcsu where i learned ALOT. not easy, but do ur work and u will do just fine! this is how a college course should be taught!
Although attendance isn't mandatory, I suggest you go. She goes over a lot and in detail. There are weekly quizzes. If you go to class and put in effort into learning the material both inside and outside of class, you'll be alright. Hard class though.
She is very smart and knows the material well but her test were too hard compared to how well she lectured. She isn't clear on what exactly you should study she tells you to study the book, but you can study the book and still fail. Only interesting if your a psy major.
She is extremely moody and clearly takes it out on the students. Goes over a lot of material in class but not specific at all for what you need to know for tests. Tests are hard. Weekly quizzes and discussion questions. Tough grader, not leniant AT ALL. Kicks people out of class for texting. Do not recommend taking her classes.
Take tons of notes, not specific on what to look over for tests. The tests are very tricky and difficult. Mandatory WEEKLY quizzes & discussion questions She freaks out when people text. 2 major research papers- she gives no rubric for and then takes points off for things you didn't know you had to do. Do not take her if possible.
Tests are hard, lots of quizzes but only counts your top ones. She helps you if you ask. If you dont want to work you wont like the class
She doesn't use powerpoints as she did in PSY210, which were very helpful in my opinion. Her tests are difficult, and doesn't really prepare you for them. She even stated that the quizzes are nothing like the tests..takes 5 highest quiz grades and makes you write 2 papers. don't take class if you don't wanna put in the work...it's not easy.
She is very moody, if she's in a good mood you'll have an okay class, if she's not happy the class will be boring and tense. She isn't very helpful during the course, and make sure you study for every quiz, not the best professor I've had. She needs to stop being so unpredictable.
Very upbeat and informative, but won't hesitate to kick you out if you're texting or being disruptive. Weekly quizzes, a handful of exams, and an optional final. Do the work and the reading and you'll be fine, she wants you to pass and gives oppurtunities to redeem yourself through effort and work, especially useful if you bomb an exam.
One of the worst professors this university has. I felt cursed to be in this class by mid-semester. This woman has major attitude, her tests are extremely hard, and she can care less if students fail. She gives no curves and doesn't look at student's efforts at all. This class is a GPA killer, so do yourself a favor and do NOT take her.
She holds grudges, so if this class is required for you, here is a list of commandments: Don't arrive late or leave early. Don't plagiarize in any way. Don't text in class. She will kill you. Don't ask stupid questions...don't ask me what they are. Who knows. If she says she'll give extra credit for putting your name on your test, she is lying and will deny it later. Fill out all the study guides and you will rock the exams. P.S. this is not an application class...it is only a facts class.
This is a tough class and if you are not interested in psychology I do not recommend taking it with her. That being said, she taught me more about psych than any other professor I've had. She was interesting and willing to help as long as you sought help during her office hours and not right before class starts.
Read the book and you'll be fine! I've taken her for multiple classes and received an A!
Great professor. makes you work hard for your grade, but is very nice and helpful.
She is very emotional, and her tests are extremely difficult and she's not clear on what you should study. She's a really hard teacher overall. I DO NOT recommend her course especially if you're not a psych major!!
Overall, she is a fair teacher. Her tests are difficult, but she drops the lowest, and there are so many ways to control your grade (online quizzes, in-class assignments, homework assignments). She drops the four lowest of in-class and homework, and 2 lowest quizzes too. Take notes in class, at least skim the chapters, do the work, and you pass.
Great professor. Knows what she is doing and talking about. Class is more of a discussion rather than a lecture. She gives many readings and then you have to submit a writing paper during every class. Truly would take her again.
Professor Kuther gives the hardest exams I have ever had. Half of the questions on the test are about things she never even talks about, which results in the class average being 67. To me, that kind of grade is a joke. This professor really needs to redesign her grading. I got a 100 on my two essays, but my exams brought my average down to a C.
Dr. Kuther is very smart and knowledgable in her field of study. Her class is one of the classes where I have learned the most. However, she makes you work for your grade and her exams are kind of tough. She includes material on them that she never covered, but rather information from the textbook; so keeping up with readings is important.
Dr. Kuther is a great professor. Her class is very interesting, she keeps it conversational so she isn't lecturing the whole class period. You have to read the chapters, it's a college class and she is not going to spoon feed you answers. She will give pop quizzes, which accounts for participation. Tests aren't bad. Definitely recommend her class
do not take this teacher if you are looking for an easy A or B or C
Dr. Kuther knows her material really well. You need to do the reading and the assignments or your grade will slip. Great sense of humor and runs an interesting class.
You have to read and work for your grade. Do the papers and study for the test and you will be okay.
Dr. Kuther is difficult to deal with, she makes you feel belittled and like you know nothing. She offers no help and is verbally abusive in her comments on papers and in how she speaks to students. I do not recommend her for advanced seminar unless you want to go insane and suffer panic attacks before every class.
She does not accept any material even a minute past the the deadline, which would be okay if she weren't hypocritical about it. She really emphasized being early to the final, stressing that if we were a minute late, not to bother showing up. Then she showed up 7 minutes late with no apology.
Read, go to class, go on blackboard. even with so so tests I did good with extra credit and blackboard
ran out of time and dropped readings but we voted on what to drop. Nice enough and knows her stuff
Not my fav subject but shes ok
412 was the hardest class I ever took but I learned so much. The paper was huge but we did multiple drafts and she made comments that helped. Readings were all journal articles and harder than anything in 325. Dr Kuther is passionate about developmental & 412 is a real capstone class that makes you realize what you've learned at wcsu
She was hard in the beginning but allows you to redeem yourself and work for a better grade.
Professor is nice and helped me catch up when I transferred to WCSU and her class. A lot of grading such as exams, micro essays and chapter tests in the beginning of class. I would takes this class again or any class with her. She puts a lot of detail into her lectures and try's to connect the material to her students
PSY 412 was interesting, however it is very challenging. There's a lot of reading, and approximately one page responses that are due before every class, which is very demanding when you are taking other classes with it. The material is not easy. It is important to go to class to understand the articles. Def one of the hardest classes I've taken
Kuther was great, she isn't going to just give you an A but its pretty easy to get it. Just do the homework (not much of it) and take the tests which really aren't that hard. Overall easy class.
I do not recommend taking any of her classes. She grades based on her opinion and not on facts. She makes the class way harder than it needs to be. On exams she will have several questions that has material we have never discussed.
Daily assignments to basically paraphrase sections of the textbook. Lectures were relatively interesting. There was usually at least one brief small group discussion each class. Online exam, but the questions were on material we never covered so make sure you have a textbook. She seems generally nice, but I was not a fan of the grading structure.
Dr. Kuther is an awesome professor. I loved taking child psych with her. She is so funny and makes lectures interesting. There are a lot of writing assignments but they're easy and you can write as much or as little as you want (due online). She may come off a little intimidating but once you get to know her you'll find she is the sweetest!
I learned so much in this class.
Dr. Kuther is an amazing professor. Her class was very interesting and packing with knowledge. There is an in-class test for almost every chapter but if you read the material in the textbook and write good notes you should be fine.
Hardest class I've ever taken. Research articles are beyond difficult & theres a major paper due at the end of the course along with a midterm & final that are each 3 mini essays. This class is time consuming & gave me a lot of anxiety. Grading is never clear & she gets frustrated if u bring up issues about the class. I wouldn't recommend it at all
Professor Kuther made the all-online format of this class as positive of an experience as possible given the circumstances. I did not feel like I learned less than if the class was on campus, yet the work was not confusing/too much (as some online classes can be).
This class was extremely heavy for a 200 level course. Out of 5 courses, I took this semester I worked on this class for hours every day. The exams are extremely hard and all scenario questions, and not enough time to take the exams. Lots of assignments, but the professor is very nice. If you want a real challenge for a 200 level course, this is it
When you start out she seems amazing but omg was there a plot twist. This women dose not give a rats ass if you need help or have accommodations if you fall behind or need help you might as well assume an F. Profferer Kuther class is extremely reliant on the textbook readings and less on a lesson plan.
Dr. Kuther knows her stuff and is a kind person. I feel that I learned a lot from her and from the class. The capstone class was much harder (and more work) than I expected. She makes you work for it but is willing to answer quality questions. She responded to emails quickly. Deff hard but made it thru and you can too! I recommend!
She makes you do lots of work which is normal for college but she isn't very kind and understanding when it comes to missing assignments. Its important to do your work with her and keep up with it all.
Her class is decent and survivable, but I would try to avoid having her as the teacher if possible. The workload is extremely heavy, it's as if she thinks that we are only taking her class. She is not sensitive or understanding to personal issues/emergencies if you have them. LOTS of reading. Two long prep guides are due every week and it SUCKS.
She was ok. Didn't really like her as a person so it kind of ruined the class for me. She's nice enough. She has easy assignments. A 6 page paper throughout the semester. Small papers based off readings a couple times. Readings before class and she just repeats whatever we read in class discussions.
Journal articles every week. Two 5pg papers based on readings. A 6pg research paper. Submitted again revised No tests. Usually interesting.
She's not bad. No tests just papers answering questions about class. I. Think I learned alot
Shes cool
More writing than I expected. Good info
Overall good professor, lectures matched exams but didn't at the same time. Exams kind of difficult unless examine the questions. Good professor though she's great.
As long as you're on top of your stuff, it's smooth sailing. Lots of work on Perusall but it's relatively simple. There's a few pop quizzes but as long as you attend class you're good. There's a literature review paper that you do over the course of the semester, but follow her feedback and it should net you a decent grade!
Discuss an article in each class. Everyone has to lead a discussion. She covers the results. 2 tests. Read and talk and it's easy
Dr. Kuther is a great professor and the class is extremely easy if you just read the articles and participate. Its a discussion based class that goes through 2 research articles a week. You have one assignment where you lead a discussion (It was not hard and she was very lenient with grading). There are 2 open note tests and that's about it.
Any book you need for the class is written by her. Good luck learning about a career path that she didn't write about in her book, she skips over it. Ask questions in class if you want answers. Assignments are easy and you will do fine if you complete the work.
Lots of work on Perusall, but it's manageable. With class attendance and feedback on the literature review, you can nail this course. unstuck study is a great study tool alongside the materials.
extremely rude. she looks at you and goes "what!?" if you try to ask a question. not nice at all and talks about herself most of the time. doesn't let you leave the classroom or marks you absent. extremely rude with other students. she looks at you like you're below her.
each class starts with a 5 point quiz so read the chapters beforehand, has a strict no electronics policy and you will be called out if she catches you. 4 total exams all multiple choice make sure you study.
Kuther is one of the best professors here at WCSU. She is incredibly passionate about her work and treats all of her students with the utmost respect. She cares a lot about each and everyone of her students and will do her best to help them succeed. Participate in her course and study the material. I cannot say enough good things about Kuther!
