One of the best teachers I've had at uni. Fun, enthusiastic, concise, and encouraging. Did not bull-sh*t us, which is rare for a prof. Wish we had more teachers like her but she is one of a kind. She is smart and a good instructor. Great experience even though I didn't want to take this course. Sold my textbooks and got my $$ back, hehe.

Hmm...nice to see that she's a prof at UBC now. I had Tara as a TA when she was still a doctorate student at SFU. I think most students in my class got a grade that was one letter grade lower than what they usually got.

She's obviously interested in post-colonial studies but her approach to teaching it is irritating at best. I took this course with Tara summer of 2021, she turned out to be one of my favourite profs. Even though I did not expect to like this course, I found her lectures to be very engaging and thought-provoking. She is also very generous with giving feedbacks and I ended up really enjoying the course.

Tara is an awesome prof. She gives really great feedback and is super helpful when answering questions. Honestly did not find that she was that tough a grader as the criteria was pretty specific. I'm sure WRDS can be a dull experience, but Tara really helped to make it enjoyable.

She is the best English prof at UBC. I learned much from her about close reading, textual analysis, and critical lenses to view lits. She takes care of her students and is willing to help if u struggle. She is a god figure, giving extremely engaging, helpful and knowledgeable lectures and good feedback in depth. She is super approachable.

Tara was always available and had lots of office hours to help! She's also willing to look over stuff if you send it to her via email, which definitely came in handy. I can honestly say that I'm a much better writer after taking this class - she really helped me think about my structuring and phrasing.

Super caring motivated me to come to a class I didn't think I would enjoy, as she made a potentially bland class fun and exciting.

Tara Lee is undoubtedly one of the best English profs. Go to her office hours! She is flexible with deadlines. Overall, her course is not very content heavy however attending all of her classes is a must because the slides are very informative and can help you when you write the research paper at the end of the course.

Tara was a great lecturer who taught the content from an interesting and focused lens. She provided clear and instructive feedback on drafts and assignments. Dr. Tara is very accessible outside of class even on weekends, and has very clear grading criteria with lots of sample papers provided. There was one in-class writing piece, a presentation and a research paper. Participation is worth 10% and you have to justify your participation grade at the end of course.

Dr. Lee is a joke of an English professor. She just regurgitates what is said in lectures in tutorial sessions, and has a select few words she uses to describe anything/everything. If you want a good grade, include the terms "temporality", "spatiality" , and "subjectivity" in an essay about marginalization in something completely unrelated.

If you know you know but it is expected that you have to write something political even though the class was about writing regarding food. You have to come up with something that isn't there even though the intention of the author is very clear in what they wrote. If you don't like those don't take classes from her.

Great professor who is always out there giving great feedback. Was difficult to get past the 87% mark tho (bare-minimum A grade) – she only uses a proficiency scale (Excellent, proficient, etc). You might get excellent but translate to 85% percentage grade. Workload was completely doable, and learnt a lot of good writing habits such as transitions.
