Was not expecting to have a young and angry professor. Wouldn't recommend.

Professor Mantler is extremely high on herself and makes it so that students do not feel comfortable approaching her or asking her questions. She is a great lecturer but her people skills are majorly lacking. Additionally she tests very very hard, you better know all of her material front to back and things you didn't even realize you need to know

I had the utmost displeasure to call someone like Tara Mantler a professor. I would say she's the worst teacher I've ever had, but she never really taught to begin with. She is rude, superfluous, and insists on being called "Doctor Mantler" because she has a phD, give me a break.

Its hard to do well in a course when you're only taught by your peers all semester!!! It's extremely unfair since many presentations are not well done, then you are tested ONLY on them for the exam with her extremely difficult wording. Also, the online quizzes are timed and you can't go back to check your answers so they were tough

Textbook heavy course, and since it's online it also glitches and takes forever. This is very impractical to study from. Also, lectures are heavy combined with textbook notes even though she takes out the important stuff from the textbook, minute facts still pop up. Wouldn't take this course again, increasingly hard to keep up with my other subjec

Absolutely terrible professor. She puts no effort what so ever in her teaching and now that everything is online because of COVID-19 it looks like she is using this as an opportunity to not do anything and assign so much work. 95% of material we need to know is from the textbook that she does NOT cover. Her lectures barely have what you need.

She is extremely unorganized with lazy slides and doesn't engage with students at all through email. Instructions are never clear and there was constant confusion amongst the class. Would say things are not testable but tests them, or puts content that was never discussed in lecture. Would not recommend her at all.

Absolutely terrible professor. She cannot even properly make an assignment or an exam without messing it up. She gives ZERO information for what you have to do on assignments until she marks it and you do not do well because you somehow did not meet her expectations when they weren't even outlined in the first place. Grading is also very unfair.

You will not know what unorganized is until you have this professor. It makes the students feel smart.

This professor is very unclear on her expectations for assignments. She also tries to make test questions tricky but doing so causes the questions to not make sense in general. She always wants to make things harder for her students. She assigns so many readings that it is hard to keep up with other courses.

Even as it is the midterm season she gives so many assignments and expects so much. Literally provides no information for what she expects. If you have this professor, switch to a different class.

The online lectures are literally just read word for word off of the slides and at max 5 minutes long each. She has no passion for teaching this subject and assigns extremely long readings. The assignments have 1 to 2 sentence descriptions, and the feedback given doesn't even relate to what we were asked to do. Worst prof I've ever had.

She marks extremely hard on assignments and expects that we put in hours. She puts no effort at all with anything course-related. Her lectures are like 5 minutes long. It is an utter shame.

Not a good professor. She clearly has no desire to teach and it really shows in her lectures. She provides very unclear instructions on assignments. If you would like to get a good education that is worth the tuition that you pay, then avoid this professor at all costs.

The most time-consuming and stressful course I've taken in my life (I'm in fourth year). Very, very unclear expectations. There's a rubric for each assignment, but it's not consulted whatsoever, so each week's assignments are excruciatingly stressful & unfair. No lectures, almost entirely reading based. After 2months, I've barely learned anything.

Everything about the way she runs this course is absolutely confusing. She gives no instructions on assignments but expects us to drop everything in all our other classes to work on this course. I cannot even describe how awful and uncaring this professor is. Everything in the course is so confusing. She expects us to be 2 weeks ahead of the class schedule. She is also very condescending. If you need this course and you have this professor then I would highly recommend completing one of the anti requisite courses (Psych 2040).

Worst professor I have ever had. Does not do anything and makes us teach the course to ourselves. She has no desire to teach and it is evident through her very brief lectures that do not explain anything important. She is a very condescending woman and her attitude is appalling, to say the least. This is the worst prof you could ever take. No willingness to understand or care for her students. Very rude. Doesn't know how to teach. Unfair exams. Doesn't provide students with a clear grading scheme yet marks super hard. Lectures are 5-10 mins long, readings are super long and unhelpful. No effort teaching this course, worst experience ever!!!

Mantler is one of the worst profs I have had. She put very little effort into teaching the course. It felt like she was going out of her way to make students lives difficult. Every aspect of the course was confusing. She answers emails in a condescending tone. Course content was vague and exam questions are poorly written. Would NOT reccomend!

Gave excessive assignments every week with unclear criteria. Lecture recordings had extremely little detail and were only about 5 minutes each. Relies heavily on the textbook. Students had to basically teach themselves. Overall had a terrible experience with this class and this professor.

This professor does NOT teach. She assigns so much textbook readings it is hard to focus on other classes. Her assignments are also very tedious. When you address concerns with her she responds back in a condescending manner. If you need this course for this program, then I would recommend taking Psych 2040/2410 which are antirequisites, instead.

Absolutely awful professor. Avoid her at all costs. I disagree that the TAs were the problem. It is the professors responsibility to make sure that they are all on the same page. Looks like they were always confused just like we were. This professor puts no effort. She might as well have just not posted anything. Also extremely condescending.

Great at yapping, also this year she and her ultimate wisdom decides to make us to do two project writing teaching materials which is so useless do not take her class in any way and the tas are the worst you can ever imagine

This professor lacks care for her students. She attempted to give our group a failing grade due to a reference document error without discussing it first. Despite her escalation, the dean sided with us. I finished with a 90, but her conduct as a professor is questionable. She advocates for specific values but doesn't practice what she preaches.

CEL Projects: Forcing students to create media and resources for kids should not be acceptable. There's a reason that we chose health Science and not Arts and Media - some people just arent as creative and cant create a nice source. It's unfair that GPA's are being afflicted due to this prof choosing to get their students to do their labour (CEL).

Terrible professor, boring lectures, makes students create CEL projects for elementary school students (didnt know i was in visual arts now). Every TA marks the CEL projects differently and try to find any reason to take marks off. An unreasonable amount of fill in the blanks of midterm and final. DO NOT TAKE unless you have to.

The testing is awful and discouraging. The prof asked questions on the midterm that were not reflective of knowledge from the course. 10/46 came from a 2 minute youtube video and theory we had discussed for no more then 5 minutes. I studied main concepts that were discussed (and made hundreds of quizlets) and they weren't tested! Do not take this!!

She gives her students the most vague rubric and her TAs a detailed one that is basically designed to take marks off our assignments. She had the weirdest fill in the blank section that messed everyone up for the midterm and has a very unorganized team.

This class was my least favourite so far, she gave a garbage grading rubric and lacked organization throughout the projects. Midterm was a joke, questions on niche terms from lecture and few on what you would think to be a major topic of concern. Her lecturing was decent at best. The course was terrible, save yourself the hassle and DO NOT TAKE

Midterm tested most niche concepts, no main ideas from lecture. Fill in the blank was BRUTAL... No common terms used. Extremely difficult.

Fill in the blanks were so ambiguous, and answers were apparently so specific. You could have an answer that was factually correct relating to her question, but not the answer she wanted, so it was wrong. TA's were useless when asking for help.

Prof who works against you, not with you. Fill in the blanks on the exam are niche details you'd think aren't relevant in comparison to main class content, as well as ridiculous grading (0/1 if you made the word plural, despite having the correct word). Posts slides cutting content out, so you can't miss any, as if ppl don't have situations come up

I will never take a class with Dr. Mantler again. She is rude and unhelpful. Does not care about her students and is by far the worst professor I've had. Ironic that she teaches Health issues in childhood and adolescence when she has caused my biggest issue in university. Run if you can.
