This class makes me want to samurai sword myself. If you aren't ok with being awake 7AM til 1AM, don't take this class. If you aren't okay with getting 0 instruction and being asked for assignments at random times, dont take it. If you don't enjoy getting emails that refuse to answer your questions, DONT TAKE IT! Otherwise, have fun.

I can say, without reservation, that this teacher is the most useless and condescending I have ever had the displeasure of knowing.She demands that you use APA style to a degree that I have never seen and assigns busywork that is not only useless but outright insulting and harmful to a functional learning environment.For the love of god, STAY AWAY!

Dr. Perry is one of the worst communicators I have ever met and has no place teaching a comm. class. The class might be GREAT if it had another teacher. However, Dr. Perry assigns too much busywork, is unclear in assignment guidelines, and thinks too much of herself. I don't know a single person who liked the class in the end.

Sure her class is engaging and knowledgeable, but most time will be spent on unnecessary busy work along with an overload of group assignments. She offers no advice for improvement, everything is clustered and unclear, and your final grade will in no way reflect the amount of effort you put into her course. Take this class with another professor.

The class team activities are very engaging and the topics are very interesting. On the other hand, the amount of busy work you put in this class is very hard, time consuming, and does not help your overall grade at all. Overall it did not help raise my GPA. I would think twice before taking this class

Info overload! Terrible communicator. Unapproachable. Wouldn't open up her office door, but yelled at me through it. We had 3 group papers due in 1 day. Mandatory 25 hours spent achieving your 5th hour. SO MUCH REDUNDANT BUSY WORK. BB is a mess and she wont explain anything more than once if at all. This class consumes your life and teaches nothing

Avoid. Please avoid at all costs. She is one of the worst communicators you will ever deal with. Has no respect for the time of anyone but herself. Please avoid taking a course with her.

This teacher is terrible. She is so unorganized. She requires you come to class on time every day but she is always late. Deadlines are beyond confusing. The course load is ridiculous. You will ALWAYS be doing her homework. If you have other classes you need to pass in the same quarter DO NOT take her class.

Professor Perry is an ironic professor for this class as she purports organization, time management and professional communication; with only the latter being something she does well. Her 'busy-work' homework is an absolute time-waster and teaches nothing and her vague deadlines leaves students confused and stressed.

To counter her terrible lateness and grading, I'm evaluating her before the quarter is out. She expects you to hang onto every word she types, and yet disregards huge chunks of assignment lead up. Goes over class time, pushes back assignments and speeches for weeks, and gives too vague instructions and deadlines. AVOID.

Welcome to 318, where the grades are made up and your work doesn't matter. A 5th hour class that is more like a 7th hour. Can be a struggle for a high D. The genius of the class is how NOT to communicate in the professional world.

This is the not only the worst communication class I have taken at WWU, but BY FAR the worst experience I have ever had with a professor in my life. If you are required to take 318, I suggest a different professor or even an online course. This is the most disorganized course I have ever been a part of. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

The Communications professors at Western Washington University are all amazing, Tara Perry is the exception. She is very late on grading work. A poor teacher and it feels like you are taking two different classes. She is arrogant, late, disorganized and very critical, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Worst experience at WWU I've ever had. Expect busy work on your agenda nearly every day. She took until the last day of the quarter to grade 60% of her assignments. And be sure to pay attention to the 2-3 page "guidelines" she has for each assignment or you won't do well. Avoid at all costs.

All instruction Dr. Perry gave was ambiguous. Often made changes to the syllabus. Disappointing classroom presentation and lack of good communication. Late to class. Did not grade assignments until months after their submission. Many trivial assignments. 5 presentations & 3 huge group projects! Other students and I had to make a formal complaint.

Perry is the worst professor I have had at WWU. I have never felt so confused and disorganized in a communication studies course before. She assigns things saying that they are on the syllabus when they are not, she never grades anything, and she does not actually teach anything. Be prepared for a lot of guided discussions, BY YOU, not her. Avoid!

The Perry Plague. Class is full of meaningless GROUP presentations. Busywork. Lots and lots of it. Exams are ridiculous. Final is cumulative. Final paper is lengthy. SL took up most time. Her vague instruction leads to confusion + stress. She wants you to respect her time but won't respect yours. DO NOT take this class or any classes she teaches.

Took this class because another classes lab was moved. I wish I had withdrawed from the start. Please don't take this class, I'm a Junior and its the most demanding I've ever had. There are so many reviews of how poor of a professor she is for a reason.

Highly unorganized, unclear grading criteria. Learned 70% of the course material through group presentations that she did participate in. My classmates tried to teach the material, but you know... they're not teachers are they?

Impossible to navigate her canvas. Her classes are all about social justice relating to minorities. Makes you teach the class because she doesn't know the material. Every class she has, has an intervention with her to re-asses the requirements because they are unreasonable.

Her canvas is the most unorganized page I have ever navigated, and this is my fourth year at WWU. Way, way too much busy work - 70% of which hardly even relates to the material. She is very nice and caring and knowledgable, but how the class is run make it easily the most frustrating class I have taken so far.

Dr. Perry is a cool lady but I did not benefit from taking her course. There is a service learning aspect that does not connect well with the course content. I learned a lot about homelessness and almost nothing about organizational communication. This professor is very strict on plagiarism so you really need to know your stuff. Lots of busy work.

I would avoid taking Dr. Perry if possible. There is tons of unnecessary busy work due every day and you are expected to learn everything on your own and class time is pointless yet she requires attendance. She is also unnecessarily strict about plagiarism. There is tons of reading and she makes you read articles that arent relevant to the course

Dr. Perry seems like a genuine and caring human being but her expectations should NEVER be placed on students, especially with her disorganization. Her canvas will make you miss assignments, long readings with little relevance to the quiz and has insane rules. Her "standard" is a C, the class just feels like she is trying to trick you. Never again.

Dr. Perry's class is disorganized on the canvas page. I've missed assignments because it's not clear what's due on what day. It's currently Tuesday and no module or announcement has been made of what is due Friday. There's no way of knowing what is due when and the syllabus schedule is confusing and all over the place. Don't take this class.

If you are neurodivergent do not take any class from this professor. Very unorganized on canvas, her entire canvas page is overloaded with useless information and there is no clear structure to the class or even the canvas page. Extremely overwhelming class with little to no help from Dr. Perry. Will never be taking a class from her again.

5 whole weeks with no assignments, no emails, no feedback, nothing graded. Sounds like a dream? Still expected to take a comprehensive final exam on things we have not been taught for the past 5 weeks. Unorganized and inefficient. Never take a class with this professor. Don't take her. She demands respect, which is fine on its own, but don't expect it to be returned. She has a list of rules for when you can contact her (the weekend is personal time) and then proceeds to post assignments so late in the week that you have to spend the weekend working on them, unable to contact her with questions before turn-in.

She is not a horrible person, but a pretty horrible teacher. Terribly unorganized! Did not allow laptops to be used in the classroom, which was problematic for me because that is how I take notes. I had to drop from her course because I could not handle the way she ran her class.

This is the worse professor I have ever had. She is disorganized, hard to understand and a hard grader!! She gave so much work that we were drowning in homework. The weekly discussion post were overwhelming on top of the weekly home work that was more reading than is possible if you are taking more than one class.

Do not take a class from her unless you want to learn almost nothing about communication and spend most your time trying to memorize her confusing syllabus because the midterm covers more random things from that then actual corse content.

By far the worst professor I've ever had. End of the 4th week of the 6 week summer session, we just now got a syllabus. No guidance on anything. No one, including the Comm Department Chair & CHSS Dean, have been able to get her to email students back. This teacher is by far the worst teacher I've ever had. She is not accommodating either, this is a communications class, not a discussion board class. The amount of discussion posts you have to do during the week is insane and there is no point in buying the textbooks, save yourself the money and pick another teacher!!

Most unprofessional teacher. Had her Comm 260 but somehow it was about memorizing the syllabus and "self-care." The first week she assigned 6 assignments, a couple of weeks later only 2. Never had a lecture. Tests are written answers with 5 sub-questions. Don't expect her to read what you write. She is late every class and one time didn't show up.

This class teaches nothing about communication.The only research methods we were taught was from librarians. She literally doesn't teach anything. The homework is completely unrelated to the course. DrPerry makes you cite EVERYTHING in your discussion post or you lose points. It is impossible to follow her grading guidelines. Don't take this class.

Taking this class makes me realize just how crazy of a teacher she is. Assigning a crazy amount of homework in the first couple of weeks makes me want to drop the class. She is a tough grader and doesn't allow for any leeway. You cannot miss more than three days or it will significantly impact your grade. I would not take a class with her again

So hard to reach outside of class, she barely responds to emails and has limited office hours that are in the middle of the day and only online. For all the people who are taking Perrys class. Be aware that you are in for a ride. She makes the class incredibly hard while also not teaching you anything. She seems like a great person but she cannot teach to save her life. You will not learn a single thing even though this is a capstone class. Western should be ashamed of themselves.

Dr. Perry is the worst professor I've taken a class with in over 7 years of college. She's stubborn, doesn't answer emails, posts assignments hours before they're due, has horrible office hours, and doesn't go over homework material in class. Each week we're assigned anywhere between 7-30 things and she denies that she assigns that much.

COM260 For a 200-level BCGM this is the most unrealistic class ever promoted at WWU. I have been assigned a group project, a final project, a 1000-word minimum discussion post, and a verbal presentation all due within the same 3 days as the midterm. Tara Perry is the absolute worst professor I have ever had in my life. Her canvas is a mess. Her "assignments" are confusing and don't relate to what the course promises. She is passive aggressive in class and says things that makes it seems like she is against her students. If you are in her class get ready for stress and to learn nothing at all.

Tara Perry is a joke of an educator. It should be illegal to have to pay money for a class that is such a waste of time, energy, and intellect. Not only does she lack professionalism but continually exhibits selfishness and indifference by never showing up to class on time, even on presentation days. In all seriousness, WWU should terminate her.

Never have I had a harder class but still learned nothing. This is an organizational communication class, but all we have talked about is DEI, and that is all we will be talking about. She has never been on time to a class. She does not teach anything in the lectures but requires attendance. She has to have dirt on somebody to still have this job.

Honestly...There's a lot. There is no structure, and the professor is the most unorganized professor. She hasn't graded half the assignments even now at the end of the quarter. She expects you to work 15 hours a week on her class, and all work surrounded DEI. It was hard to connect to organizational communications. Don't reccomend.

As a communication major here at western this is honestly the worst professor I've had in my time here. The fact that she A. Is late everyday to class B. Complains about having staff meetings C. Waits till the end of the quarter to grade work. I'm certainly shocked if the university is wasting tenure on a professor who doesn't truly care to teach.

As a communication student here at Western I am shocked at how the university could let someone like Tara Perry teach in this department! by far the worst professor in the Comm Department A. is always late to this class, Complains about staff meetings during office hours, and hardly grades. If she is tenured it needs to be taken away.

The concepts she teaches in this class are important, but her execution is very bad.

Dr. Perry's classes were disorganized and irrelevant. She was late daily, unreachable outside of class, and barely graded anything on time. COMM 228 focused on DEI, COMM 303 on hunger—neither matched their descriptions. Instructions were unclear, and rubrics came last-minute. I got good grades but learned nothing. Avoid her if possible.

I have never encountered a professor who is so unorganized. Nothing was graded the entire quarter. She was consistently 15-20 minutes late to every class. There was no substance to any of her lectures. She is the worst professor you could imagine. I am convinced that I academically regressed because of her. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES.

Claimed that mental health was important to her but I swear everyone in my class is going insane. She is always late, if it snows then she only tells us class is cancelled when it had already started so everyone is already there, never answers emails, and half the class is just us getting to know each other despite it halfway through the quarter.

If you value actually learning anything related to the course do not take a class with her. HOWEVER it can be an easy A if you vaguely follow along with what she throws at you. Talk about diversity and the importance of self care, throw in something about homelessness & a personal story. Just have to find the quarterly topic she cares about.

There are two big issues I had with Tara 1. She never grades anything. You practically have to wait until the end of the quarter to find out what your grade is. 2. Her TA does all the work - she is barely in class.

Freshmen, listen up: if your professor says that mental health is the most important thing to them, drop their class. That sounds great, until they give you the most overwhelming workload of your life and then are not available for office hours OR TO EMAIL???
