Great prof. she really lets everyone write the way thats comfortable for them. She grades you mostly on effort, so do your work and you will get an A. Very nice and understanding woman. make sure you do all the work you have to for the portfolios, even if its annoying, she'll make u regret not doing it later on.

Incredibly straightforward with regards to grading system. Go to class, do the work, hand it all in on time and you'll get an easy A. Great part: no textbook! Everything is on eReserves. Just a genuinely nice person. Highly recommended.

The best teacher I've ever had in my life. Call her by her first name. Tara's awesome. A lot of writing assignments but it's easy to do. The topics we had to write about were really interesting and you'll really want to do them. ONLY CLASS I enjoyed going to. =D

Great professor, her class was really easy. There's a lot of interaction between students, everyone in my class was cool with each other. You can revise your work as much as you want so it's really easy to get an A

Not a piece of cake (there's a lot of work and you have to participate in-class and on-line), but a lot of fun. She really pushed you to think about writing in new ways--assignments allow you to be creative. Funny and smart--I'd recommedn for all!

LOVE HER! Although her assignments seem easy, it is designed to define and improve your writing skills. Taking her class actually helped me as a writer. It is NOT another one of those bs classes were you're forced to read a boring novel and summarize/analyze it. If writing is not your thing, you'll love her anyway cause she's just cool (and young).

It's rare for a lot of work to be enjoyable but she makes it possible. There's no midterm or final, just three different units. Each unit requires a good amount of writing and there is daily homework. However, she is very laidback and doesn't get upset if you miss a deadline. She grades hard as well but you can revise your writing. Worth taking.

Amazing teacher. Worth taking. She really is just trying to improve your writing and she really does help in a great way. A lot of work and deadlines but if you have a low grade, she will give you the chance to revise and get a higher grade. Loved this class. Do not miss more than 5 classes though.

Awesome Professor. I absolutely love her! she is amazing and even if english/writing is not for you, you will enjoy every minute of the class. She is genuine and just wants to help you become a better writer. She's very understanding and makes the work fun and productive. One of the best professors at STJ!! if you can, take her before you graduate!

A beautiful woman! She's very young (mid-late 20s?) so she can relate to her students. No midterm, no final, no tests. Semester is divided into 3 units and you hand in portfolios for each one. Easy A but if you don't like your grade (impossible!), keep revising to get your A! There is work involved, but it's easy. Wish all prof were like her!

She is so helpful. She wants to help you pass the class but most importantly that you get something out of it. She will help you with anything you need. No textbook. Uses BB. With a little bit of work and effort put into it, you will get an A. She lets you revise your writings.

Take this professor. If you don't like writing you will after taking this class. Great help and awesome person. Wished she taught more classes.

She is the best! A lot of work in the beginning of the semester, but it's all easy. No textbook at all! Attendance is mandatory. Easy grader and you can revise everything. You have a TON of freedom in writing the papers. I got an A and I am awful at English! She is young and the class is pretty fun. I highly, highly recommend Tara!

SHE IS A TOTALLY AWESOME, COOL professor!! No books are required for this class and theres a lot of writing assignments but its all easy and fun.

Tara is like a high school teacher. She doesn't expect much work out of you and she is very generous when your work is late. Her assignments are very open-ended. She has you read and comment on several different articles and stories. Everything is posted online. Overall a very easy class. She outlines everything you need to do for an A.

Just overall awesome. Lets you write about what you want to, constructive criticism, nice, sweet, intelligent, etc. Not an "Easy A", but its not difficult to get an A if you pay attention and do the simple assignments. I told my roommate not to take English at all unless he can take her. What all professors should be.

She's a good and pretty easy teacher. You'll get an A if you get all of your work done on time. She's really easy to talk to and helpful if you have any problems or questions, and she's pretty funny sometimes. Take her!

shes funny & cool! all you need in her class is creativity. its not very difficult to bring out your creativity in your writings. Only 4 papers to write about and you can choose the papers you got the highest grade on and that will be only thing that matters. An easy A! take her!!

Absolutely awesome! She's really funny, down to earth, approachable, and nice. Her assignments are 100% enjoyable. I loved her class! The only annoying thing about her class were the reading responses but I never did them and still got an Don't be late to class she finds it really rude. And there's no textbook. TAKE HER!

This is the best english teacher you could ask for. I would fool around in class and make jokes and she just laughed along with the class. You get to write what you wanna write. I got to write about zombies and other stuff. She gives you extra time on work if u ask for it. You choose the grading policy and almost always ends class early.

Everything is clear from day one, stay on top of your blackboard posts and you'll be good. Simple as that

She's very nice. As everyone said, she accepts late work. Just don't take advantage of that and only give it in late if you absolutely have to. Reading responses do suck but just get it done. You will definitely see the creative side of yourself in this class. Easy A - just do all the stuff in the syllabus and you're set

Syllabus given first day. Follow that, and you'll get an A. Accepts late work as long as you don't do it often. No midterms or final! Cannot be absent more than 3 times as it is a department rule. Schedules a 5 minute meeting to ensure you can get that A even if you miss some work. Very nice and chill

She is the best best best professor ever!!! I hate English so much especially writing and her class has become my favorite. She lets you be creative and encourages you to use your own style, not the boring what you would expect on an english paper type of thing. She's super nice and easy going, understanding and always in a good mood. MUST TAKE HER

I had her for writing and trust me, she is the best! She's really chill and easy to talk to. She understands when students are tired and want to go home, but be nice and participate! Three easy papers and easy requirements to get an A. No tests. She's awesome! I wish I could take her again.

She is such a nice person! Her papers give room for a lot of creativity. If you take her class you WILL enjoy it! If you get the chance, choose her and you won't regret it! She loves writing and it shows. She cares about your paper and her suggestions are clear (legible!!!) and helpful. Always willing to help.

I am a biology major that waited avoided English class all the way to junior year. But this woman is a godsend! I told her the first day that I'd rather be shot in the hand than write a paper but this woman was great! She's so liberal on her views of what writing should be that theres no way you couldn't do well if you put in the time! GODSEND!

BEST TEACHER. MUST TAKE. once the lesson plan is done you can leave. write a few papers but you get to choose the topics and it is extremely creative, not typical and boring. very relaxing class. hand in your papers on time and its an easy A.

No textbook no midterm no final. Great teacher she's young and very relaxed. 3 or 4 easy papers class is very laid back. Some blackboard comments (usually the homework) but nothing too complex. Will try and take again for 1100!

I cannot tell you how much I loved this class! (But I will try to do my best). She is hilarious and enjoys doing her job. You have to post homework to blackboard for a few reading assignments, but they are easy. There are no quizzes or final; just a final portfolio. TAKE HER, SHE IS AWESOME!

One of the best. She lets you write about what you want to and be creative in structure and meaning. She's also a super hipster feminist, which I loved! Great time, great class, and is an easy A as long as you put the time and passion into your work that Tara puts into the class!

I loved taking Tara's class! Super modern and relaxed. Four papers, no midterm or final, just a final portfolio. She is really helpful in developing writing skills, and she doesn't really believe in formal grading. Easy A and super sweet!

She's absolutely brilliant I loved her class! Even though I despise writing she made the assignments so much fun and interesting that it was breeze for a science student like me. Definitely take her! This class was great. Tara is a wonderful person and teacher. She is there for her students. She is quite hilarious. She is really easy to get along with. The class itself is pretty relaxed and creative. There are 4 papers, readingpeer responses, and a final portfolio throughout the semester. Her class is an easy A, if you put the effort into it.

Tara was great! Everything was really easy to understand and if you didn't understand there was plenty of time in class for you to ask for clarification. Most classes ended early and if they didn't it was because the discussions were really good and took a while. She's really nice about extensions and you make your own rubric for everything.

This class is easy. Do work, show effort and get an A. She's still young, so you feel so comfortable talking to her. She is very understanding to her students. She shows her respect to all of their ideas. Hope to take her other class in the future.

There is so much I could say on here. This woman is literally my favorite professor of all time! Tara is the nicest, most down to earth hip feminist cat-loving person ever. Her class is so easy if you do the work and pay attention, and you learn so much. She opens your mind to all sorts of topics that are just incredible, and truly inspires you. A+

Extremely easy class. Lenient when grading and the papers aren't very long. There are some readings online but that it just about it when it comes to homework. Participation isn't a big deal just do the work and expect a good grade

Hands down my favorite professor. Any assignment she gives you, you submit for a "rubric" grade, which is basically telling you what to fix. Your final is submitting your top 3 pieces, but she has told you what to fix so they're perfect! Gives you plenty of time for essays and gives you the opportunity to be creative as possible! Love my girl Tara!

The easiest class I have ever taken, she ran it like a middle school class where we talked about our feelings on pieces and stuff like that. It was honestly very boring and I didn't learn anything but she's very sweet and everyone gets an A.

If you couldn't take her, i'm sorry because you missed out. She's great. I hate writing, but this class was just amazing. 3 major assignments that you'll actually WANT to do, you create your own rubric, final grade is based upon a final portfolio at end of semester. Online homework assignments. If you don't get an A, you honestly tried not to.

Tara is amazing! She gives you so much freedom in your papers and never limits you in terms of creativity. She usually ends classes 15-20 mins early. Worth taking!

I am not much fond of English, but this class was awesome. I got to show my creative side and enjoyed receiving my easy A. Just show up to class and work on the portfolio. In addition, she'll let you know beforehand if you have an A or not.

Professor Roeder is a really nice person. The projects give you a chance to write freely, and you really enjoy it. However, I sometimes feel she doesn't want to be critical of anyone's paper because she is afraid of offending someone (which isn't always a bad thing). Would recommend to anyone.

OMG I love her. Shes a really great professor and genuinely a great person. I wish I had professors like her for all my classes and this is coming from someone who is intimidated by writing classes. She gives 3 major assignments that come with an ample amt of time to complete and you choose your own topics for all of them! EASY A

Suuuuuuuuper easy. She gave 4 major assignments( i didn't even do one of them, Ijust sad i didn't feel comfortable handing it in and she was completely fine) you don't need to show up. I probably missed more than I showed up. Often ends class after 25-30 minutes. There are some responses to readings but they're super easy.

She's is an easy A. She's very lenient with everything. Due dates? Not in this class. She is probably the easiest professor I ever took in my lifetime. Thank the Lord for this cutie.

I love Tara so much! This was my favorite class of the semester. Not hard at all, honestly an easy A. Do the reading responses online, participate, and have a complete portfolio. She gives feedback on our assignments and gives us chances to revise our work . She grades everything at the end of the semester (best thing ever)

This is absolutely one of the best professors at St. Johns! There are 3 major projects where you create your own rubrics with the class and you can fix any of your assignments throughout the semester as she grades everything at the end in the final portfolio. Such a relaxed class and awesome teacher.

The best choice for FYW professors on the school. She wants to give you an A, give really good feedback and is a sweet lady. Online homework for every class which is easy and doesn't take more than 10 minutes.

The nicest and most caring teacher at St. John's. She wants you to do well, her deadlines for projects always get pushed back for people that are still working on it. My entire class got an A. Her class is interesting and laid back. She ends class early. She's an amazing professor that actually enjoys teaching and reading student work.

Very nice woman, her class is extremely easy as long as you participate and do all of your readings/assignments. She is open to hearing everyone's opinons, and in general is very friendly.

THE BEST FIRST YEAR WRITING PROFESSOR! 4 or 5 writing pieces throughout the semester but she lets u edit&revise the whole semester after the due date. easiest class. funny&so sweet. gives reading pieces on blackboard for homework but all u have to do is respond w a few sentences. highly recommend! do not pass this opportunity up! easy A

she's the actual best professor I think i'll ever have. the amount of chill she has is unparalleled, you literally just have to have everything done at the end. very understanding and caring. funny too. super nice and she really allowed me to open my mind more about what to write and the different forms of writing

She is so amazingly kind. She grades very easily. Gives a decent number of projects/major assignments, but nothing too difficult. Very manageable class. There are reading assignments, but nothing bad at all. Would take this professor again any day.

shes honestly such a sweetheart. theres 3 projects and a few reading assignments but it's very manageable. you can tell she really cares about her students and wants them to have fun with the assignments. i would take her again in a heartbeat.

One of my favorite courses Ive taken so far. Her assignments are actually interesting, enjoyable and not repetitive at all. Very kind, caring, and understanding if you turn in work late. Her grading and directions is clear, If you turn in your work every week you would get a good grade. If you have the chance to take her, take it.

3 big projects. It's work but manageable. Prof Roeder provides a lot of good support/feedback. She's understanding of students problems, 10/10 personality. Just take her. One of the best professors I've ever had.

Seriously, a great professor. She is very understanding if you have something going on in your life outside of school (unlike many professors). Need an extension? She'll gladly bargain with you about an extended due date. She's also there if you need someone to talk to and a great person to chat with. I looked forward to her class every week.

Professor Roeder is AMAZING. She gives intricate and thought out feedback to most assignments. She's so sweet and notices all of the small details in your work. Her assignments were very easy and fun because she pretty much lets you write about whatever you want. This class was very healing to me because I finally had a professor who cared.

She is really friendly and approachable in class. I think the assignments can be a little tedious because it's not simply just writing, they involve other things too. She seemed really understanding for the most part and tried to increase student engagement. It really wasn't a difficult course and didn't require much during class.

Dr. Roeder is such an amazing professor. Her class is an easy A as long as you complete all of her assignments, she does post a handful of assignments but they are east to complete. She has a very bubbly personality and is very open to hearing what students have to say. If you have the opportunity to take her class you definitely should!!

Probably the kindest professor you'll have. Assignments are straight forward, and she's super encouraging. She does not make the class hard but makes sure that you learn. The assignments are pretty fun and she's not a tough grader.
