awesome teacher, who was helpful and fun
awsome prof, makes Anth fun
All we do is take notes. Smart lady but boring class. You'd think cultural anth would be interesting.
She is still new at teaching & it shows. Boring lectures and multiple choise tests.
new to teaching- she knows lots but her classes are hard to follow and tests are not clear
I don't know who was teaching the rest of you but I found Tara boring and very unclear as to the actual course material.
She is a space cadet who clearly does not know the course material - try lecture notes
unorganized, but nice lady
She's a great prof! A real person who is approchable and understanding that life is also happening while your going to school. Wise and full of knowledge ...sometimes it was a little hard to follow the lecture. But simply the BEST teacher at Camosun.
Great teacher, one of the best at camosun. Very clear notes and clear test questions. Know's her stuff.
Not the best teacher I've ever had. I found her dismissive and unapproachable outside of class. Notes were somewhat confusing. She speaks very quietly during class. Makes funny hand gestures in class. Whistles and talks to herself sometimes in class too.
I have had her for both 110 & 220 and overall I think she is a nice person and a good teacher.. sure her lectures aren't the most interesting but atleast they are well organized and she has fair marking..! Unlike some other teachers:(
Tara is such a broing teacher I couldn't stay awake, and when I did it was unbearable with impossible tests and boring/expensive texts I would skip this prof and course. I studied and studied but... blah!
I really enjoyed her for Anth 216 and 110. Her lectures were very interesting. She seemed relaxed and enjoyed what she was teaching. Hard to talk to one on one, but really nice person. Kind of spacey, but it's funny.

I think Tara's great, she's got very clear notes with headings, subheadings, the whole deal. She explains every point she makes and is informative and passionate about her work. She always has her door open and is very friendly.
Tara's great. Interesting lectures. Well organized. Knows her stuff. Enthusiastic about subject matter.
Well, what can I say? She's a wonderful teacher, knows her stuff & is obviously happy to be teaching. On the other hand, many students find her style confusing. Her organization confuses me, yet, overall, she is worth having as an instructor.
what the f#@is going on with her? next time i will read this comment and take them seriuoslly!!she is hard, not that nice after class, boring and unclear..she should learn from nicole killburn in how to teach and motivated her students!never again Tara!
This course almost gave me an ulcer. Her teaching style is cold, the course content is dry. Subjects that should be interesting weren't, and her marking was tough. I worked really hard and ended up with a B+. The same amount of effort got me three A+s in my other courses. I learned nothing.
She seemed OK at first but got more sucky as time went on. She piled on huge assignments at the very end of the semester. She took forever to mark things (she has new-born blah blah blah) and administered bad marks without ANY feedback whatsoever. Class lectures were okay although she's not quite as knowledgable about the field as I'd like.
She was very unclear and VERY unorganized.
I found Tara interesting, clear and had great notes. She cares about the subject matter. Really enjoyed her class, recommend it!
Great teacher! Really nice and clear in lectures.
Tara is a great teacher. Put your time in to study and get a good mark. I sadly slacked off. Anthropology is an exansive course, so be prepared to do a fair but of work. Tara is also a total babe too!
Unclear. Unorganized. Tests did NOT reflect the material taught. Avoid if you want to get any kinda of decent mark in Anth at Camosun.
Love her. Her classes were always intersting. She is always helpful and her exams are very clear. I cant till I can take another one of her classes
Un clear presentation of material. Exams were even more un clear then the lectures themselves. Found the seminars interesting, but not enough to not drop this class. I would avoid this class.
was pretty friendly and approachable, open to discussion if things were unclear. she expects a lot from her students so review the material thoroughly before exams because sometimes the questions were kind of out of the blue and unpredictable
This course was pretty good, so was the instructing. Everything was clear and concise, the amount of reading is reasonable. The only problem I had with this course were the exams, the questions would be easy, the answers I gave were lengthy encompassing all the details required to get full marks, and yet I'd only get some marks for it...why?
Tara's notes are extremely well organized and detailed, you should attend class to get the best of the lecture. She seems impersonal but it may be a quality of some Anthropologists, she's quite amenable and friendly once you speak with her a few times. The class was highly interesting and interactive, I learned a lot and would take her again.
Passionate about her subject and interested in helping students succeed. Much more approachable than might seem at first. Interesting case studies and videos. Great class, great instructor.
Ensure that you study for exams with great detail. I received a D on my midterm but pulled my socks up, studied all my notes articles and readings again and recieved and A-. We did a huge fundraiser as a big part of our grade which turned out fine but was stressful and required a lot of outside of class work. Lectures are a bit dry.
Difficult prof, but extremely interesting course.
She isn't very clear about what she's looking for, both on answers for tests, and on projects. When asked about a certain mark, her answer was flippant and dismissive.
Scattered teaching method with a little too much attitude towards questions asked in class. I like her personally(would enjoy a social interaction talking about anthro) but was frustrated with her disorganization. Tests were composed last minute making the wording of the questions convoluted and frustrating!
This class was a huge disappointment. The exams were poorly worded. All essay questions didn't pertain to course content but to her personal examples given in classes. She's very specific to what she wants, buts doesn't explained it well. A very nice lady, she's passionate about important issues, but I will never take another one of her classes :(
Show up every class and take notes – by hand! Very little discussion, her lectures are very well organized. Write down every word she has up on the projector, memorize every word and you are guaranteed an A+.
Tara is obviously passionate about Anthropology, she is smart and has well organized notes, however I found her quite cold and unapproachable. condescending even, felt like she was looking down on me. I had to take the classes with her but if you don't I would avoid. But if you cant, Attendance is mandatory! Take detailed notes! textbook not used.
Tara is a great prof and really knows her stuff. I do find she isn't very clear as to what will be on the test and even the tests can be confusing at times but her lectures are interesting and she is quite helpful. Show up to class! Stay engaged and take good notes and you will do great.
I would avoid this class like the plague. Tara, is completely unhelpful, dismissive, cold and unreliable. She constantly talks down men. When asking her questions, she isnt clear, and responds in a way that makes you feel like youre asking a stupid question. She reassured me that I could rewrite an assignment, which I did, but she never marked
Tara is an excellent instructor who very much wants to prepare you for higher level university classes. With that in mind, expect to read. But it is college after all. Duh. She's funny, sweet, and makes class worth going to.
Tara is a good teacher as long as you write down everything she says. memorize your notes for the tests and you will be fine. she comes off as a hard ass at first but she really is not. she is more than willing to talk after class about concepts. all in all I would say she is a pretty good teacher.
Not a fun class to take, very boring. If it was with a different professor it would most likely be more enjoyable. Tara is a terrible professor, would never recommend her to anyone or say anything good about her teaching. The exams are super hard, felt the content learnt in class was not on the exams.
Tara gives interesting lectures and provides current and inspiring information. However, she is a very fast talker, and it is easy to miss important points because she flips between slides very quickly. Tara appears like she would care about individual students, but really she does not. ANTH 110 changed my opinions, but for the worse.
Taras lecture style is very organized (although she sometimes gets ahead of herself but its not too hard to follow along)and passionate. Her grading criteria is concise, but she does make you work for it. Anth290 is a brand new course at Camosun so there are still a few growing pains made evident in the inconsistent spelling of terms, and readings.
Tara is passionate& knowledgeable about anthropology. She is funny, bright, patient & attentive. She does speak fast at times, but is aware of it and tries to slow down when she can.I recommend a voice recorder for the lectures(& 1 follow up listening), show up to every class, take detailed notes and do the required readings BEFORE the class.
Tara does not work well with people who are physically or mentally disabled. She can be very rude and very unflexible when you miss her classes. Must take notes and read all of the chapter before the lecture. I do not suggest taking her class if you can't take notes.
Tara is clearly passionate about what she does and I really enjoyed her energy & humor while taking her course
Makes me wish I was taking more Anth courses. It's easy to tell she's really into the subject and it's infectious. She gives clear information and focuses on interesting topics. The only problem I have is that the major project is a group artsy project. It would be nice if she gave a non-art option.
While I really enjoy her class, there are a lot of things I would change. I have no problem with amount of work, but there is a lot. Her syllabus and what she says/gives don't always match up so make sure to read the syllabus. She will make corrections. Do the readings, pay attention in class (and actually go) and you'll be fine.
Homework is scarce, but you need to be attending class.
Tara is the best Anthro teacher by far. I have taken 3 classes with her now and haven't been disappointed. She is very passionate and caring and it comes out when she lectures. Attend class and take lots of notes! Very clear with what she wants. This class was a lot of fun! LOVE her!!
This was an excellent class. Really informative, and Tara was really excited about the subject. Pay attention, and take a lot of notes as there is a lot absorb in her classes - she expects a lot of her students and teaches accordingly. Tara may seem intense but she was a brilliant prof, she should get a better rating on here than she does.
Best lecturer I have ever had. Incredibly interesting content, super engaging, and knows her stuff inside and out. Going to class will definitely help your grade, because little things discussed once can end up on exams, but her style is so fun that you'll want to go anyway :)
Tara is a fantastic teacher. Get ready to take notes!!! This lady can talk at the speed of light and trust me, you need to know ALL of the material she talks about in class. she obviously has a passion for what she does.
I will have her again next term and I am happy about it.
Great class. Took this course because of the instructor. It was the right choice. Very inspirational class that covers several women issues around the world.
She is good
Tara is a great teacher. She requires a lot of reading for her second year class. I wouldn't say she's a very hard marker. She was very accessible through email and office hours. My only complaints are that our course syllabus had some readings TBD on day one, which annoyed me. She also has a clear ideology that comes out in lectures.
Tara is wonderful. Her lectures were always fascinating and she articulates everything so well. Be prepared for lengthy readings in preparation for seminars.
Does not care about her students at all.
Tara's fantastic and is very passionate about her subject (esp. cultural anthropology). Make sure you take notes in class as she does NOT post her slides (except during COVID times). Ask questions and be engaged in lab and lecture and it will do you good. If in doubt, over-explain and add MORE DETAIL to your assignments/exam answers.
Tara really cares about her students and is passionate about what she teaches. She took some of her personal time to hold an academic writing workshop, which was helpful. She loads her course with lots of great content to read. She is also really good at giving critical feedback even when you do well on assignments, so you can grow in your writing!
Tara is wonderful & passionate about the topic. I love how accountable you are held for doing readings etc. Group project was hell on earth & Tara supported me but basically told me to suck it up. I don't think it's fair to be graded on other's work as it kinda depends on who you get. Very high expectations for knowing content, but I didn't mind.
Expects her students to participate, read chapters, participate in discussions, weekly quizzes, and complete projects. However lacks in teaching. Wasted money to read a textbook
While the topics were extremely interesting, my passion for this class diminished with unreasonable/unclear grading criteria from Tara. I am very used to writing research papers, and she marks them as though she expects them to be at a graduate-student level. I lost so many marks due to not using a source she never outlined in the criteria
Really horrible. Not teaching as much as indoctrinating. Your own personal views dont matter, if you write a paper for her, you better make sure your views fit exactly what shes teaching or youre going to be failed. Extremely hard tests and papers. Highly would not recommend this prof, would also not recommend Anthropology at Camosun at all!
Great professor! Each week consisted of reading the textbook, discussion post and quizzes which was much of our grade. Exams were written but she gave enough time to complete. Overall I found this class very interesting especially with the readings she included and the engaging discussion posts. Would take again
Never take her course. She would fails once never give an opportunity again to pass the course. Not even understands someone's situation. Totally waste of time and money.
When i read the reviews for Mrs. Tudor I was a little nervous. I have to say, she is my favorite professor so far. She loves what she is doing, she is engaging, she answers questions (even if their dumb) without being condescending. She makes anthropology fun! Youd best bet is too show up to class and do the work and you really cant go wrong..
Don't recommend taking courses with her if you can avoid. Tests are strangely written. Said that if you get over 75% on midterm/final exam it was "too easy"...a clear indication that she is not driven to help students succeed. Won't ever listen to you when you being stuff up, just waits to hear herself talk. Doesn't fully answer questions whenasked
Tara is a prime example of a unskilled community college professor. She lacks technical skill as her slides are bare and always overlap so you can't read the material. Her syllabus is completely off so dont look towards it for any guidance. Exercises are terribly put together. It seems like she put the whole course together in 2 minutes.
Tara is a passionate teacher, easy to understand and willing to help. In this course, you read a lot, and it is important to go to class and do all the quizzes and exercises to get a better grade, there is a lot of content in this course and also on the exams. The exams besides multiple choice have writing answers. Tough Grader.
She's not a bad professor, she's good at explaining the material and responds to questions well. But it is very difficult to pass her class, her tests are amongst the most difficult ones I've taken during my entire time in Camosun, she has weekly readings we are expected to make thorough notes on. The workload was, in my opinion, unmanageable
The class is easy to pass if you do the work but hard to get a good grade. She tests on stuff mentioned in class that are not on her lecture sides, so write notes ahead of time then add on what she says. Quiz questions are misleading but are on exams and are available on Quizlet. On long answer questions write everything you know.
I liked Tara's class but it was the hardest intro course I've taken so far. She is a nice person who you can tell is passionate about the content, however, a lot of material on the tests comes purely from the examples she gives in class- the textbook and slides are not enough. Participation activities are engaging. Interesting but tough course.
Tara does long interesting lectures. She does make students do group discussions for my final, I had to do a group project. If you have issues with your group tell her because she will grade accordingly. Take lots of notes because her slide are miss some key info. As long as you are in class participating, you will get a good grade.
Very animated and passionate in what she is teaching. Makes you engaged in the material.
strongly recommend avoiding this instructor at all costs. My biggest frustration was the grading. She gave me a zero for the group project that I did, didn't concerned checking and ignored multiple emails. The lecture notes were just bullet points and hard to understand. My final grade suffered because of her lack of support. Avoid this class!
avoid taking her class at all cost! This instructor is unresponsive and disorganized. She gave me a zero for the group project I did without even enquiring, checking and ignored multiple emails. The lecture notes were just bullet points and hard to understand. My final grade suffered because of her lack of support. Avoid this class!
Tara is a wonderful professor who is kind and passionate about anthropology. I had very difficult year for personal reasons and still got an A+ because she was such a good teacher and held my attention. She seems to want to see you succeed and be excited! Lots of funny quirky stories also as she's very well-travelled in a chill way.
Tara is TOTALLY rad her lectures are almost always interesting & always engaging. She's also very good at clarifying things when someone has a question, wont make them feel dumb. You can also tell that she is very passionate about what she does. This class is a blast:)
Tara is a great professor, kind and captivating in her lectures and very helpful when asking questions or even just talking to her about the course.
I had to drop the class because she is a hard marker, if she did not like what you wrote, it would simply be a 0. The lectures were very organized, and she was very knowledgeable about what she was teaching. She gave out a few extra marks to bump up the test marks but only by 2%. She never answered emails.
This class was a heavy workload with tests, discussion, projects, and exams. She used a website that was difficult to access, and she did little to help. She rarely answered emails, and when she did they were very brief and unhelpful. There was a required book that we bought and did not use in any assignment. Would not take one of her classes again
