Jay, as hes known, was a pretty good instructor, always clear and helpful, good about extensions, but is very strict about attendence and tends to make some of the later assignment kind of long, but overall good, I'd take him again for my next English if possible.

Class is always interesting and he never overdoes lectures. He invites class interaction and actually initializes it on many occasions. Professor "J" is one great guy, he is not to be missed! Not to mention he's one of the cutest teachers @ TCC VB campus! Highest of recommendations! ;o)

This was an easy going class. He was a great teacher. Make sure you do all the readings, he likes to give a quiz on the homework.

I thought Mr. Jawhar was a very down to earth professor. I would take his class again if I had the chance to. When I finally left his class, for the first time ever I felt sad to know that the class was ending. It's a very intoxicating course, and he doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions. I absolutely recommend him for anybody.

Before I took class, I was not really interested in English. It was a req. for my degree. However, "Prof. J" is a down to earth guy,yes he is hard. But that is the only was to learn. He opens your eyes not just to the class, but to life as well. I have learned much and I know it will help me for the rest of my edu. Thanks Prof J for everything. eg

Before meeting with Jawhar, I was afraid of taking english. He is fun, fair and very reasonable teacher. I feel so comfortable with him.

Excellent teacher, very easy, 3 main papers, a portfolio, and a presentation on your final paper worth 5% of your grade. This is a very cool teacher, we watched "Lord of War" in his class! What other teacher can you do that with? There's readings and quizes on the readings but he relates it to real life so its very interesting. A great choice!

I had this instructor in summer 2005. He is so enjoyable. My grades weren't off the charts, I'm not a good writer. But I loved this class and I passed. He wants you to do well, so the opportunity is there.

I liked this Professor. He is strict but once you know the rules and abide by them, you will do fine. Pay attention to the details of the assigned readings, you will be quizzed. There are three papers. He gives extentions on the paper due dates, as long as you request on his timeline. He is easily available by phone. I would recommend him.

Makes u work 4 ur grade. Quizzes no test. In his paper n quizzes he very specific n detailed.

I dreaded Eng prior to having Prof. Jawhar. I had him for Eng111, and I liked his style of teaching so much I signed up with him for Eng112. He talks fast, and he is funny. He likes to have fun in class. He encourages in class discussions on sensitive social topics. He never set a specific topic for papers. Easy to contact out of class.

Great Teacher! I liked him so much in 111 that I made sure I took his class again for 112. He is down to earth, flexible, and cool. Only three papers, movie reviews and a portfolio. Can talk fast but it's entertaining and funny. He relates everything in his class to real life! Pay attention to readings, he will quiz you! Recommened him to anyone!

he is very fun, and entertaining. lets you pick your subject for most of your papers. nothing too tough. he is very helpful and will explain things. he is very acessible. i highly recomend you take his class. he does the work and nothing extra. no busy work, only the meat. he makes english fun.

Best teacher thus far. He follows the syllabus, classes are fun, and we usually get out early. I absolutely recommend him to anyone, especially new college students.

what an experience, I don't read or have an interest in writing, but this guy was an experience and joy. very interesting, start class w/ current events discussion *a real treat...don't miss them, they're fun.u must read stories--pop quizzes--I will have fond memories and pleasant thoughts about that class for many semesters2come>everyone loved it

OMG! You will laugh and have a lot of fun in this class!!! He's an overall good teacher, but his quizzes are kinda hard but you can manage. He doesn't like to stay in class long so you will be in and out fast. His papers are easy as long as you go to the writing lab. He's cute and you will definitely pass the class.

Professor Jawhar was awesome!! His class is fun, and I wish I had taken him for English 112. His handwriting was pretty terrible though. Make sure you read the pages in the book for the quizzes!

One of the best teachers I've ever had. He's very entertaining and you can tell he's intelligent. He's not an easy grader, but it's because he wants you to learn. You can't miss many classes, but it's worth it to show up. The papers were fun to write.

pretty much just show up and do the essays, dont let the quiz grades fool you the first time i took him my quizzes were really low but i still passed with a "B" so just do good on the essays pay attention and the very few times you need the book read the chapter twice also for ENG 112

Jawhar is basically the best english teacher I ever had. He starts every class by just chatting and debating various issues for fun with the class. It's four or five papers to write and as long as you do that and read the assigned work you get an A. He does give pop quizzes on the reading assignments so read that shi^ son!

Professor Jawhar is by far the best teacher I've had in college. He makes classes very entertaining, and as long as you do the assignments and readings, you'll be fine.He's very intelligent, and he likes to discuss sifferent topics with his class. Take him. You won't regret it!

Easy, eh not exactly. Passable is not easy. Its normal. The main thing to take note of is his attendance policy (3 times late = absence) 3 absences = auto fail. Also take note of the fact that his papers are tedious as hell. You dont learn anything, you just talk about crap like your at the dinner table. If you have 4 other classes dont do it

Good teacher. Very approachable. Class is relaxed atmosphere with encouraged class participation. He does speak a little fast and his handwriting is atrocious so ask to him to clarify. Super helpful on papers - make sure you come with specific questions. Would definitely take again. Make sure you follow the attendance policy.

I took his online course. It was a breeze. He gives you an ample amount of time to do assignments. Everything is laid out from the start. If you do your work on time, you'll do very well. The book is needed somewhat for journal responses to reading. Take his class if you can!

Professor Jawhar is a great teacher. If you do your work well and on time, you will succeed. The writing topics are interesting, and you have ample time to complete papers. He is quick with emails. His online classes are wonderful, and I highly recommend them.

I found him to be VERY clear on what he wants, which in turn allows him to grade very harshly. Pay very close attention to how many words he wants, what he wants it to contain, etc., because he is VERY quick to take points off. He grades and gives feedback quite quickly.

This was my first online class. I don't enjoy writing papers. He allowed students a diverse set of topics to write about. I was having family emergency and allowed my major paper to be delayed past the deadline. A genuinely great teacher. I would recommend to any student at TCC. I liked him so much I took 112 with him.

Prof Jawhar was great! He left plenty of very helpful comments on my submitted work and gave great criticism that helped me improve my writing. I couldn't ask for a better online professor. He posts learning units and gives clear due dates for ALL of his assignments. You have four papers and one little one, journal entries and discussion board.

Great teacher. Had him in the Spring. He is quick to grade and gives feedback on all work. There were four essays and some journals. Great teacher! First online class I ever took, and got an A. He's very strict on grammar. Very quick with email, and very helpful. I heard he's very good looking, but I never met him since the class was online. I highly recommend him to anyone.

Easy class. 4 discussion boards, respond to 2 others, 4 essays all semester. His essays are based on word count. Essays are to be 400-600 or 600-800 words. I'd recommend taking him if you don't want to write many essays plus his essay topics are easy!

Prof. J blew me away, he is an incredible teacher with a very intriguing outlook in life, he takes you beyond the classroom and really makes you think about the actions and consequences of your beliefs in the subject and your very own opinion. He really makes you work for your grade but I promise he's an incredible choice for a professor

Taken for English 111. Assignments were clear cut. Grades for grammar, but explains how and provides feedback on essays. Took online. He responds to emails quickly and provides feedback on all essays and journals. Meet the deadlines and requirements and an "A" is not hard. Great professor.

Easy class, just do your work on time and if you need help - just ask. He's very smart as well and really cool. Grammar freak! Haha.

He isn't the best teacher as everyone claims him to be. He is very strict about being on time and if you are late it affects your grade after a certain amount of times. He also makes you introduce yourself to the class like people would in high school which is odd for a college class. He also makes you present things quite a bit.

Regardless of the fact that I finished each writing assignment with an "A," my quiz grades were so low that I finished with a C--in a college composition class. I have only myself to blame. I should've paid more attention to these lackluster non sequiturs. Also: Go to class!

As long as you show up to class and read the material he gives you, you will pass. He is funny and he communicates with you. Not hard at all if you pay attention. Why not. One of the best English professors I met and someone else I know passed his class after her forth time with other english professors. Highly recommend.

Great Professor. Fair with you as long as you show effort. I have taken him for ENG111, ENG112, and just finished ENG131 with him. All classes I got an "A" in. I wish he taught more ENG classes. Highly recommend. Great fair professor.

Excellent instructor. Took him for both ENG 11/112 online. Gives timely responses if you email him. Very fair grader. The workload is very reasonable, even if you're taking a full semester of other classes. Discussion board posts and responses are mandatory! Would highly recommend, I wish he taught ENG 125!

This dude is awesome. He's probably the best male teacher I've taken since starting school at TCC. He grades tough, but it's worth it. If you ask questions and seek out help, He is more than willing to help you in any way possible. I recommend taking his 111 and 112 courses in person if you can.

Awesome teacher and a great class! No "busy work" assignments , and everything was very manageable. We had 4 papers, 5 DB (300-500 words) and 2 PR to each DB (200-300 words). The class was a very easy A, as long as you turn in all assignments.

I took English 111 online during the summer, as my first online course I have taken I was very nervous about how the course would go and if I could keep up. He puts out all of your work at the beginning of each week with all of the info, what he expects, when it is due, and how many words he wants. Turn your assignments in on time.

Awesome teacher! He's firm, fair and consistent. He has a strict attendance policy and is a tough grader, but atleast you know what's to expect from the start. You will learn a lot from him. So, show up do the work and you will do great. Usually he will give atleast one extra credit opportunity.

Easiest A. I took him online the first 8 weeks while taking Micro. There are discussion boards and journal entries due almost every week. There are about 4 papers dues. All of these were super simple. As long as you're on topic and meet the word count, you're set. Gives great feedback, super organized, and grades super quick!

Absolutely fantastic teacher. I wish I could take him again for next semester, but he decided not to do in-person classes. He's serious when he says that he's going to teach you things that aren't just for his class, and can be used anywhere else. Just attend class, do the readings he gives, take the simple quizzes, write your papers, and you pass!

He's a superb teacher! He's funny, too. I definitely learned a lot from his class. We wrote four essays, had some reading quizzes, and he even gave us an extra credit opportunity at the end. He's strict with attendance, but if you keep up with your essays, show up for class, and read the assigned chapters, it's a very easy A.

I took his online class, and it was the easiest English class I've ever had! English requires a lot of reading and writing, but his class is easy and flows smoothly as long as you do your assigned readings and discussion board participation. Easy A!

The class itself is relatively easy. He gives great feedback when grading and clear instructions. I missed one assigned and suffered for it. There isnt any real extra credit for this course so make sure you submit all of your assignments on time.

Attend every class. KNOW YOUR GRAMMAR RULES. 50% Grammar 50% content. If you write well take his class, you won't regret it. Allows you to pick your topics and is really lenient at the end of the year. Ask him questions and he will help. He has awkward moments but super cool guy. I really enjoyed the class. It woke me up every day.

I love this teacher. He gives awesome feedback and his criteria is pretty point blank. He knows exactly what he wants from his students. If you have any questions, he responds promptly and goes into detail about any questions you may have. Just do the work and do it right.

This professor sets out clear expectations for assignments from the very beginning. There was a fair amount of writing involved, but it wasn't that horrible. There were about eight different writing assignments, usually ranging between 200 and 600 words, then one final paper of roughly 1500 to 2000 words with five sources.

I have a full time job, and a full course load so I was nervous to take the 16 week ENG class. This class was the easiest A. Professor Tariq had each module well organized, all of the reading assignments were interesting/fun to read. ALSO he gave extra credit for having a photo of yourself in canvas. I finished with a 101%. Would highly recommend.

Easy grader and clear expectations. Answers emails super quickly. Always provides reasoning for missed points and gives feedback for everything. Every unit usually has 1 open/written discussion, 1 reading response from textbook readings, and 1 essay which you're able to choose the topic yourself. No story readings or interpretations. Very enjoyable

Excellently run online course. Had the most organized Canvas board and syllabus I've seen; easily my fave professor at TCC. Lays out the criteria very clearly and is a no-nonsense, straightforward professor. Super responsive via email, gives helpful feedback. Highly recommend.

Dr. Tariq Jawhar is the GOAT. In high school I absolutely sucked in honors English, Dr. Jawhar is an amazing human being, and I couldn't have passed this class without him. Assignments come in units which have anywhere from 2-5 assignments in them and he gives a good amount of time before the due date. Essays are short and not too tedious.

Prof Jawhar is an excellent professor. There are quite a few assignments, but he gives very clear guidelines and expectations. He gives great comments on things that you may have missed. I would 100% take him again if I could. Be sure to turn in assignments on time, though. No late work is accepted past 24 hours after the due date.

I joined the class a week late even though my course was a seven-week class. I still ended with an A+ because Mr. Jawhar excused me from the assignments I missed. He gives really good feedback on essays, discussion posts, etc. Just follow the rubric and you'll pass.

This was one of the coolest classes ever. Prof. Tariq was SO FUN, he really wants us to think critically, not just in the classroom, but through everything in life. He challenged every single one of us in an unforgettable way. Group projects were awesome, I even met a lifelong friend through his class. Do the work, easy A, and a great experience.
