I have been out of school for 22 years and had a horrible math foundation. Prof Holmes is AMAZING. He truly cares that you "get" the material and wants to prepare you for next levels of math. He is funny and engaging and class flies by. He makes math ( if possible ) interesting. Apply yourself and you will learn even if you hate math!

Great Professor. Has a real way with numbers and certainly teaches with passion. The only complaint I would have is that he doesn't use his email. Very hard to get a hold of unless you'ee there in person. Despite this I HIGHLY recommend his class. Worth the time!

I had not had a good experience with math in H.S. and prior college. Mr. Holmes made me see Algebra in a different light. He was clear in his lectures and blackboard exercises. Very helpful & even set up an extra review day with students who needed xtra help for final. However, doesn't read his emails. Otherwise he is great!Will def take him again.

I have Prof Holmes for MAT0028 and I don't know if it's because I'm taking the 6 short week session but Prof Holmes is quite fast paced and intense, you really have to stay on top of it or you'll get lost easily....It's definitely pushed and challenged me so I'm happy about that! He's strict but funny too..Overall wonderful professor

Went into this class thinking it would be my hardest one for the semester. I WAS WRONG. I got an A. Test are easy and you always review before. TAKE HIM!!! I am not good with math at all. However, Professor Holmes teaches in a way where you can really understand. If theres something you don't understand, he will definitely go over it for you. There's 4 test, with the lowest grade beijg dropped, and a final. He is big on participation, so the more you interact, the better you will fair.

Comprehension is a huge part of statistics! Professor Holmes encourages his students to understand the material rather than memorizing vocabulary/formulas. Take notes, READ AHEAD BEFORE EACH CLASS. He will assist any way he can if you put forth effort throughout the semester. This is the 2nd class I've taken with him & I don't have any regrets.

This is a hard class, if you do not like Math or Statistics (numbers) do not take this class online but in person you must pay attention and participate in class, he is a great professor, but you must get it. Extra credit for lab and tutoring, yes you can used a calculator, you must study and must talk to him and ask questions in class. I got a C.

Professor Holmes is very passionate when it comes to Math. And boy does he know his stuff! He showed us ways to get to an answer without completing a hundred steps. Just make sure you have reviewed your Math before taking any Math class. Do not expect the teacher to re-teach MAC1033. Be prepare and ready to learn, and you will pass. Take him!

Overall he's a great professor and he knows exactly what he's doing. He breaks everything down into simpler terms. I hated math. He actually made me love it. 90% of the work has to come from you. I HIGHLY recommend him. I did not study enough and studying is important for STAT. The class is not hard but the subject itself was hard.
