She teaches X-104 and is really easy going. I really enjoyed going to class most days because we would do group work or play a game or something fun. She is an easy grader too.
Very strict attendance policy. You can only miss two classes or you will start losing letter grades. Other than that - decent class.
Basically, if you follow the guidelines on the critique forms, you will do great. She loves athletics and health issues--key in on those. And if you are getting docked points early on in the semester, talk to her personally and see what you can improve on. It will show her that you really care and she'll probably like you after that.
Best teacher I've had at IU so far... Grading is fair... pretty hard to get an A but you probably won't go below a B-
Tatiana expects you to work hard, but she's willing to help you the whole way through. No busywork, just some readings and about 6 or 7 total presentations. EXCELLENT professor!!
At first I really liked her until she was extremely rude to me. She made fun of me in front of my classmates and basically made me feel like an idiot. However, if she doesn't have something personal against you like she appears to have with me, she's a pretty good prof.
Prof. Kolovou was an amazing teacher/coach. She will push you throughout the semester. Do not be upset when you receive lower grades on your Impromptus. Towards the end of the semester you end up having outlines due (free points) that match those speeches points wise. Work hard and show her that you are trying your best and you will get an A.
Very professional and will definitely make you a better speaker. You have to put in a lot of hard work and A's do not come easily. Attendance is mandatory, 6 individual speeches, 2 group. If you want any easy A take CMCL-C 121 instead.
Highly knowledgeable. Best x104 professor there is.
She is a pretty strict grader, but very helpful and very friendly, so you learn a lot in a good atmosphere
Very knowledgable professor. Genuinely interested in your success. Not the easiest grader, very hard to get an A. Put in the time and PAY ATTENTION to what she says/likes and you can get a high B - low A.
Awesome teacher, absolutely loved her. X104 seems like it'd be easy but she doesn't give out A's unless you work for them. She genuinely cares about her students. Go to office hours as much as you can.
Amazing teacher and she connects with students and cares about them without having favorites.
She knows what she is doing, however, she does not just hand out A's. To get anything above a B+ you really have to try. Sometimes unclear about all of the aspects in a speech (especially the Macy's Speech). Overall good, but I would advise picking another professor if you want an easy semester.
Professor Kolovou definitely knows what she is talking about. While she does not just hand out A's, you will find that your final grade will end up higher than you expected.
Mrs. Kolovou really taught me a lot about speaking. Tough grader though. Got my lowest grade in this class as a B.
You will take things you learn in this class and apply them throughout your public speech career, Kelley or not. Tatiana is super helpful and willing to work with people on an individual basis to improve. Definitely recommend this class.
Professor Kolovou's Business Presentations was by far the best class I've taken my freshman year. She goes out of her way for her students and she's very professional and prepared. I really recommend taking X104 with her.
Tatiana is an amazing professor and has a passion for helping her students. You will learn a lot in her class and if you take advantage of the resources she gives you, you will not only do well but also improve your speaking abilities a great amount.
C 104 as Tatiana teaches it is not an easy class, but she has immense care for her students. Her combination of experience and passion makes her class interesting and insightful.
Tatiana is by far the best professor I have ever had in Bloomington. The class is tough but if you're willing to put in the work she will do so many things for you to help. If you have the opportunity to take her class, DO IT
Kolovou is the best teacher I have had at IU. She isn't as easy as other C104 teachers, however her teaching and professionalism make up for this.
Don't take Tatiana unless you want more work than literally every other C104 prof. My class had to do 3 presentations that no other class did. She is a good teacher, but save yourself the headache and take someone else.
Kolovou will make you work harder than any other C104 professor. However, I will say that everybody in the class saw their speaking ability grow, often significantly. She REALLY knows what she's doing. If you are willing to put in the extra work in order to improve, Kolovou is the easy choice.
Tatiana is very friendly and willing to help students that show effort. She doesn't give any free passes and appreciates the effort you put in. Her class was difficult, but rewarding.
She explains things clearly and gives good feedback, but you do 3 times the work in her class than with any other c104 teacher. Plus, you can most likely get a better grade in another class for less work.
If you want an easy A, it's not her. But if you want one of the best connections in the Kelley School of Business and an amazing teacher, it is her.
Pushes you to better yourself and only takes your best work. Well worth the effort though - Prof. Kolovou is an amazing person and mentor to have!
Professor Kolovou really pushed us hard to give our best, but was very rewarding when she was satisfied with our work. A small compliment from her is more valuable than endless praise from any other professor. Very good professor that I would recommend to anyone who needs to learn how to properly communicate.
I started off my semester terrified of her. She is a very strong willed person and makes ypu work for everything you do. By the end of the semester though, I really appreciated everything that class put me through. I promise if you stick it out til the end, you will not regret it.
As an international student, I was barely comfortable in English when I took her class. By the end of the semester (and a lot of hard work), I was as comfortable in English speeches as in my native language.
Kolovou is a tough professor, but actually grades group presentations fairly easily. You will definitely have to work hard in the class, but don't get too frustrated with your grade early in the class. I started with a B-, and only missed an A by 1 point.
She is absolutely amazing. From the very first class, I liked her. She is there to help her students and honestly wants us all to succeed. Her class will be difficult, but she challenges you in a way that you will definitely benefit from. She is a great speaker, and I loved going to her office hours.
One of the best professors that I have ever had. I came into the semester a stumbling mess and left a poised and confident speaker. She is extremely helpful and goes out of her way to make time for her students. Clarity-wise, it is not her who is not clear but, rather, the topics are very general and make it a little difficult to find direction.
I had heard a lot of terrifying things about Professor Kolovou going into the semester. It's true that she's very strict and that the class is hard, but she is an amazing woman inside and outside of class. She gives really good feedback, and I left C106 a much more confident speaker. Taking this class with Kolovou was well worth the extra effort.
It's a lot of work, and by no means is this class easy, but it's the most rewarding class I've taken so far. I'm a far better speaker now than i ever was. I used to not be able to stand up in front of people without freezing up and freaking out. Tati is the best.
Tatiana is a great professor and one of the most influential women at IU. She strongly believes in professionalism and the equality of women and men in the workplace. She taught me multiple skills that I will use in the future. While intimidating and tough at first, she does it so that you will respect her. Make sure to go to office hours!
Professor Kolovou is an outstanding professor. You can tell she really enjoys the material she teaches and she gives great feedback. I went to her office hours a few times and she was so helpful. You'll feel much improved by the end of the course.
Professor Kolovou was on of the best professors I have had so far at IU. She knows exactly what she is talking about. I came in barely able to make a 1-2 minute presentation, and now I feel confident giving 10-20 presentations in a group or by myself. Highly recommend taking anything that she is teaching. Get ready to work however.
Tatiana was an amazing professor who consistently pushed me to do better. She definitely makes you work for it. However, in the end, my presentation skills improved dramatically. Get to know her!
Kolovou is awesome because she's passionate and is very accomplished. She doesn't hand out A's, but if you work hard she'll take care of you. She makes you do a couple quizzes but they're not graded. She's clear with what she wants so if you do that you'll get good grades. Be careful- she doesn't like giving A's & docked people's grades at the end
I LOVED Prof Kolovou!! She was a difficult grader but you could tell she really knew what she was doing. She gave a lot of positive feedback to balance any negative comments which was really nice. There are 2 big group presentations which kind of suck depending on how your group is, but I learned so much from Kolovou. Wish she taught another class!
Tatiana has a reputation of being tough, because she is. You have to work really hard to improve your speaking skills, but she is so personable and gives you all the tools to do so. Easily the best professor you could get for C104/C106.
She the professor for my first class as a Freshman as Kelley. She set the tone for professionalism and ambition is at Kelley. Never had an professor who was more energetic and involved not only within the classroom but also in the business world. She is truly a great contact and mentor. Yes the class is bit more challenging, but it's worth it.
Tatiana is the most caring professor I have met in college so far. She cares about every student, and she always gave me helpful feedback. She's a professor and speaker who I really look up to. She's a tough grader, but you'll learn so much from her class and get a good grade if you work hard. Definitely willing to take her class again!
Professor Kolovou led my favorite class of Freshmen year. Be ready to learn and to improve your speaking by a ton! She grades tough, but the experience you gain with her is invaluable. She is a great choice.
Professor Kolovou is my favorite professor at Kelley! She really cares about all of her students. The class size is small so she takes time to get to know everyone. She can grade kind of tough, especially in the beginning, but it's because it helps you improve and get better grades later on (larger point value assignments).
She is really kind and inspirational. Since I was the only international student in her class, she always gave me more chances than others and some special treatment to encourage me to improve my English and confidence.
Professor Kolovou is one of the best professors in Kelley, and puts in way more effort into a 100 level class than she needs to. She's a great speaker, very kind, and I would recommend her to anyone who genuinely wants to improve their presenting skills. That being said, she expects more out of her students than any other C106/104 professor.
She is great and very well-informed and well-spoken. Gives really really good feedback, but definitely is VERY nit-picky and a tough grader.
Professor Kolovou is the best C104 teacher. But with that said, she is a very harsh grader. She assigns so much more work than other teachers and you will get tired of how much you have to do for her class. She really pushes you to be good at speaking, but sometimes her class makes me want to die. Amazing person and amazing speaker.
Tatiana is a great professor but she requires much more work than other teachers. My friends in other C104 classes were breezing through while I was spending hours on presentations, and sometimes her point deductions on assignments don't really make sense and aren't well explained. She definitely helped me improve as a speaker, but she is tough.
Fine class. Has you do many more speeches than other professors and makes other students give you feedback instead of doing it herself. Class is on a 1000 point scale and I ended up with 929.5/1000 points. This amounted to a 92.95% in the class which she wouldn't round up .05% to give me an a instead of an A-. She is cruel.
She is genuinely so passionate and kind. She responds insanely fast and really cares about her teachings. The only problem with the class is that if you don't get a good group for the country analysis, your grade will suffer. I did very well on everything and did okay on the country analysis because of my group, which greatly hurt my grade.
Very nice, makes the topic relatively interesting, engaging class, fair grader.
Don't take this class if you don't go to class and take excessive notes. ?'s on tests include random things that test if you went to class as opposed to international business. Example "On the first day of class I showed a video of a prime minister that mentioned two countries, which of the following were the two countries he mentioned?" Unwingable
This was my second class with Tatiana and I love her even more now. She is the sweetest teacher and allows you to build a close connection with her. Wants every student to succeed and really has your best interest at heart. Any class I can take with her in the future I definetly will. She is going to write a letter of reccomendation for me.
Great teacher but makes unnecessarily hard tests. Went to class every day, took notes, and even recorded lectures on my phone and went back while studying and still struggled on test questions because of small details. Wasn't an accurate depiction of our knowledge whatsoever.
She is a very nice professor. That being said, she structured this course terribly. The material that was tested on exams has quite no benefit to me outside of this class. I went to every class, read the book, and took notes in class - there was no way to answer all the incredibly specific questions given half the material was inapplicable.
Tatiana is very kind and passionate but her class isn't the most enjoyable. Many test questions are completely random and if you do not get a good group you are screwed. If your group doesn't pull their weight you go down with them. She cold calls so make sure you do the reading. Make sure you know everything on her slides and videos for the test.
Prof. Kolovou is passionate about her work internationally. She is very inspirational and tries to engage her students. The class' setup relies on exam scores for all D270 classes. Attendance doesn't go towards your grade, but she puts examples from class on the exams. Overall, she had a good attitude and I would take her class again.
Tatiana is a great person and she is easy to make a connection with, but she purposely makes the test too hard to get higher than a B/B+ on. A lot of her tests have two answers and have questions that either haven't ever been talked about in class or talked about for one second but are so irrelevant you would not think to remember it.
She is passionate and qualified. The exams had questions that were very specific to things covered in class. Take notes on the names of specific companies and countries that are talked about.
Attendance is absolutely mandatory, and if you attend the exams are made extremely easy. Many examples used from class, but she just wants to make this material make sense to her students. The textbook is online and published through Canvas, so again made very easy for the students. Show up to class and you will realize that it is easy.
Kolovou is the creator of D271 and it shows. The course is horribly organized, she is awful at communicating expectations, and does not prepare you for her exams. In her "review" she tells you to focus on the wrong things for exams. She is nice and passionate about the topic but is overall disorganized and makes the course unnecessarily difficult.
I liked the way Professor Kolovou taught, however her exams made me very mad. She told us specifically that there would not be things on the exams that were on the exam. I studied off of what she said, and she straight up lied so that made exams extremely difficult. I went to every single class and studied hard and still didn't do the best.
Professor Kolovou is not capable to be a collegiate instructor. Her slides and lectures are riddled with errors, typos, mistakes, etc. She shows up late often and is highly unprofessional. Her exams are worded terribly and also full of typos/mistakes. She will claim that something will not be tested on and sure enough it'll show up.
Great teacher, always positive and supportive and easy to build a connection with. This is a class where you have to basically write down everything she says as it is all fair game for the exams. Be sure to watch (and rewatch) videos and take good notes as those make up most of the exam questions. Put in the work in class and you will be rewarded.
Exams are hard, but not impossible. The class is very engaging and fun, but your grade could suffer if your group for the final project suffers.
BUS D271 courses are often difficult. They are 8 weeks long and information on tests is very specific. That being said, Professor Kolovou is the best professor for this course. She teaches from experience, as someone from the country that she teaches about. She is also extremely caring and is very responsive to feedback, as long as you participate.
Tatiana is passionate about the subject, which I like. But I dont like anything else. Since English is not her first language, she speaks somewhat broken English making it incredibly hard to really understand what she is saying. The midterm and final are both 35 questions, each test question is worth 1% of your final grade, which is insane.
This was genuinely the most ridiculous class I've ever taken. She cares more about attendance than learning. Roughly 30% of exams are based on niche, meaningless examples from class “which company did we not talk about..” which does not test your learning or knowledge. Exams are also horribly written and unclear. Good person, horrible professor.
This class has frustratingly simple exams that do not reflect learning objectives accurately or meaningfully. Tests revolve around international business examples that you must remember but simply testing over the information and not the broader, more relevant context makes studying for this exam extremely boring and frustrating. Avoid if possible.
One of the harder classes I took this past semester. She is very knowledgeable and wants her students to learn but she can be a lot at times. She openly criticizes America. Also the tests aren't terrible but they have very specific examples from the lecture that are only shared once so it is important to catch them.
She is amazing. i love her as a person. Her tests though werent about much content and were about how much you paid attention. If I didn't take extensive notes and ask someone after class who had photographic memory exactly what was on each test I would've failed
She is a very personable professor and makes you try and understand the material. The 2 exams and final project are the majority of your grade, and the project was not necessarily straight forward.
She is so passionate about Greece and the class overall. Puts in a lot of time and effort to make sure everyone understands the content. However the exams are just filled with random content that is so useless for Business kids to know about greece.
She is a very intelligent professor who cares a lot about what she's teaching, in large part because of her personal background. If you go to class you will do pretty well, she is great!
she thinks very highly of herself. and tests suck.
You'll see a lot of bad reviews about her due to exams but thats not really her fault, the course structure just sucks. Shes a good lecturer, passionate and knowledgeable about her courses. The engagement assignments are super easy and there are only a few readings. IMO the only thing you need to do to get an A is go to class and take ok notes
The exam-content is so undefined that not attending lecture spells death to your grade. You have to assume that anything in lecture is fair game, which gets tedious considering half the content is nonsensical. While the professor has great enthusiasm, the overall class structure makes the course near-impossible to enjoy.
Pretty good lecturer and really enthusiastic about her field. Material conceptually wasn't bad whatsoever. But, nearly half of the questions on her tests are from super niche examples from class that you wouldn't even expect her to remember. The class gets so tiring trying to pay close attention to every example she gives for an hour & a half.
I got my first ever A- in college because her exams were so specific to what she says in class. You can only get 10 questions wrong combined for both exams in order to finish with an A. Make sure to write down the specific examples she says in class because a lot of the exams are to see if you are paying attention in class, rather than the content.
