BEST MATH TEACHER I've ever had! Very nice, funny & outgoing! You use your book for the assignments, very few wokshts, no quizzes, some extra credit, sometimes curves tests depending on all grades. Very helpful bc she gives notes packet & review packet for each chapter instead of copying notes on your own so tests are similar, TAKING HER AGAIN! :)
She is the best teacher I have ever had regardless of the subject. I have never understood math but she makes it so easy to learn. she wont go onto the next problem until everyone knows the current one. shes amazing.
I love Mrs. Reynolds! She is extremely helpful! I walked into the class the first day with Math phobia, but that has changed . Now, I get excited when I get the problem right :) Do not be afraid of her; if you need help, ASK! Great advice for this class: REMEMBER your Trigonometry formulas and do your HW! I am definitely taking her for Calc. 2 :)
Adds 6% to your final grade if you do enough work(you need 200 out of 400 points, very easy to get). Exam study guides are IDENTICAL to the exams except she switches around numbers. Also, she doesn't use many word problems. Lacks some clarity in her lectures since she is soft-spoken. Go to TA sessions. Overall, I'd take her again.
She is very nice and very helpful but her exams are very hard. She is all over the place when it comes to notes and doesnt follow her syllbus. She likes to stick her tests. You will always find problems that you havent learned. I wouldnt recommand to take her cause she is very hard and skips basic stuff.
She is by far the worst professor I have ever had for math. She doesnt follow her book at all nor her notes. If its your first time math or if it has been a year for you than its not the right class for you. She skips a lot of steps when it comes to doing problems. She expects you to know more then her. I would never take her again.
Probably the worst teacher I've ever had. She loves to belittle people. If you haven't had her in a previous class, do not take her. She teaches as if everyone has had her and knows how to do certain problems.
The worst teacher I've ever had. If you ask a question she says things like "I'll go step by step for the slower students." Can't control the class, intentionally makes tests so difficult no one can finish them, lecture notes are incredibly unclear. She always talks about how she has a Phd in engineering. Sorry that doesn't make you a good teacher.
The worst. If students ask questions, she says things like "I'll do this step by step for the slower students." Can't control the class, unclear expectations, notes, and lectures. Always talks about her Phd in engineering. Sorry, that doesn't make you a good teacher. I love math and school, she made me hate being there.
She is VERY hard teacher but very helpful. She doesn't follow the book nor the syllabus. She does provided extra credit which is 6 points. Her exams are very difficult and tricky. She thinks that all of her students are in PHD level math. Also, she goes pretty fast and skips a lot steps.
She is a very helpful teacher. Most of these comments are too harsh. Miss Reynolds only want what is best for her students. She often give test reviews before exams, that are very helpful. I took her for fundamental of arithmetic (A), preparation to algebra (A) elementary algebra (B+). Some of these student can't expect easiness. This is college!!
I have to agree with the negative mainly because she teaches as if you should already know but n some cases thers are some tht learn slower and who uses different formats from past teachings and true she gives you exam review but I want a teacher who takes me to levels of math not just a syllabus with homework assignments I do not recommend her
Shes a cool teacher but at the same time shes a type of lady that thinks you should know everything already. Wouldn't take her class again.
She skips so many important little steps that leave a student confused when looking at a problem so u get slowed down. She then will test you on things you have never seen before..not even a harder version of a simple problem. book problems and notes were too easy compared to test. about 2 people had A's and the rest were under 60% by test 3/6
If you have math phobia take her!!!!!! She is so cool!!!! Started out rough with her but ended up loving her. 6 exams plus 6% added to your final. Her home land is Russia but after awhile you can begain to understand her. It's not bad at all. TAKE HER!!!!!!! Gives out notes also. No in the book examples!!!!!
She is a very chill and relaxed teacher, makes math look so simple. She is not as clear and concise as other teachers but she gives extra credit, worksheets and exam reviews which are tons of help. Many students think she is really hard but this is calc, and it supposed to be hard. I think she is easier than most teachers out there.
Best math teacher Ive had. Hands out a calendar of when tests/chapters will be and sticks to it. Teaches step by step If anyone doesnt understand she'll go over it again. Extra credit is offered and study guides are given for every exam. Show up to every class on time or you will fall behind if you expect to find differently youre fooling yourself
I had Tanya from Pre Algebra to Intermediate. Being 10+ years out of high school presented difficulties in picking the books back up again.. I found her very helpful, positive and encouraging through-out. I took College Algebra with out any difficulties last spring and will be taking Trig with Prof Reynolds in the fall.
I've had her for Calc I, Calc II and Diff. equ. She is one of the best professors I've had. She is the reason why I love math again. Her tests are based on what she teaches and assined homework. Do the homework and A LOT of extra credit (be honest with yourself and do it on your own-it will help on tests), attend the classes, and you'll do great.
This was my first math class after 14 years out of high school and Mrs. Reynolds was very helpful. I found her to be very clear in her teachings. I was able to understand what I was learning, and she gave extra credit for tutoring. I enjoyed her class I registered to have her again in inter. alg.
She gives tons of extra credit worksheets and exam reviews before each exams which are sufficient to get an A in the class. She has 6% extra credit in the class. She has her own notes and problems which is why you don't really need the textbook. Greg Nickel which was her SI was also really helpful.
If you have a harder time grasping math, this is a good teacher to have. She explains everything well. No problems whatsoever. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you're not being there to listen would obviously affect your grade, so it's your own undoing. She does require if you're in class, that you're respectful and listen. I highly recommend her.
She is nice teacher who take her take to explain things and give out extra credit to help you
She is a really good teacher who is willing to help anyone who applies themselves. She gives out study guides exactly like the tests that are very helpful. You get extra credit for completing the homework and attending study sessions. It's not an easy A, but I definitely learned a lot! I would take her again this semester if I could.
Pt 1: This class was a hybrid. I would say it was A LOT! She cramps so much work from 1100 into the first 5 weeks you will be swimming in math work. I did bookwork before doing online homework because you wouldn't know what to do if you didn't so I did double the work. I wish she would just do only bookwork and let the online work go.
pt 2. If you work full time I would say quit for 5 weeks because the first 5 weeks are horrible. This class took mandatory of my time. I retired TWO practices notebooks from this class. If you took her for 1050 she's A LOT harder. You will have to work REALLY HARD TO GET AN A. After all the time and effort I walked out of her class with a B.
She is a good professor and great person at the same time. very knowledgeable about the subject.the material is very hard so you have to put lots of efforts and due the required handouts plus the Home Work. she give lots of opportunities and extra credits, yet this class consume lots of hours to be prepared well. one of the best math professors.
She likes to pick on you if your confused on a subject. She does not know proper english that confused me all semester. wouldnt take her again.
Amazing teacher I would highly recommend her. She is a kind person, a fair grader, and gives extra credit. If you plan on taking Calc 2 with her, however, you MUST know your algebra. Also, she is very helpful and even tutors at the math lab on campus. Study hard and do the extra credit, and you're more than likely to get a good grade.
Awful teacher!! I absolutely love Algebra and she made it absolutely miserable! She grades extremely harshly! She also barely speaks English and goes really fast while lecturing! Also she makes you feel stupid if you are confused. Just a very rude person! Don't take her!!
Tanya is the worst teacher ever. She doesn't explain things well and expects that her students already know the subject. She is very disrespectful and doesn't care about her students. I recommend not taking any classes with her you will fail. She is by far the worst math teacher ever.
Teaching this course in 10 weeks is tough but she did her job. Test are long and instead of testing she was trying to trick the students, which I disliked about her. The test are bit different from what she teaches in the class. But the extra credit saved me. If you take her prepared to put in extra time, effort and be really careful for the exams.
Prof. Reynolds is a great teacher. She explains the material very well and will also stop and answer questions you might have. The test are clear if you do the homework and go over the notes she gives in class. She gives a lot of extra credit. Very knowledgable of the subject. Glad I took Diff. Eq. with Prof. Reynolds. Would take her again.
Professor Reynolds is one of the best professors to take Diff Q with. She is very helpful and gives 6% extra credit to the final grade. Highly recommended!!
Very good teacher and very fair. I liked her class she helps a lot if you go to her office hours, she gives extra credits 6% of final grade, and she replace lowest exam grade with final. I really enjoyed her class I will definitely recommend her to my students friends
Great teacher. Loves to help people. Very helpful and clear. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
She's nice. But very confusing at time.
Reynolds started off as a good professor until the take-home midterm. There were no clear instructions on what she wanted for each problem and put questions on the exam that were not covered in the textbook or her lectures. For an online course, she also is not very prompt with replying back to emails. Is also very sassy when you ask for help.
Took this course to get rid of a GenEd she was rude, i would email her 3 questions because it was an all online course, and get one of the three answered. her noteslectures were hard to hear and often much easier or nothing like what was on the homework or online test. My friend actually warned me to switch out when i had her, wish i had listened.
Reynolds is a very helpful teacher if you come to her with questions. She sets up her class so there is plenty of time to work on assignments in groups and discuss the topic, which I found extremely helpful. Her tests are straightforward if you do the homework. USE THE MATH CENTER. Calc takes practice, no matter whose class you take. Great prof!
she's very SASSY, she does not speak English clearly which makes everything even more confusing. I take an easy math class but she doesn't make it easy, when you have a question and it's wrong she will literally ask you "why would you put that down?" and makes you feel stupid. she's not nice, dont bother taking her class.
Would absolutely never take this professor again and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. She speaks with a very deep accent so it's hard to understand her. Very tough grader and also very disrespectful and rude. Math is my best subject and she made me feel like it was my worst. Flies through her lectures. She talks back and makes you feel dumb
She is a great teacher. I dislike math, but I have been enjoying math the most this semester with this teacher. She makes it easy to understand. The way she sets up chapter reviews make it simple to look back and know how to do the homework. Also, test study guides help a lot before the test.
She's the best math teacher I've had in my entire schooling experience.
She's a great teacher. She's willing to take any and all questions. She puts your test grades in first then adds in extra points for homework, review packets, and worksheets that she gives out. She also gives points if you see a tutor. As long as you do the homework, you will do well on the tests, unless you can memorize math on the spot.
I loved taking college algebra with professor Reynolds! She is super sweet, and always available if you need extra help outside of class!
she does not drop lowest test grade. Homework and worksheets are worth so little points. The test are the most important grades. She teach like three four chapters in one lecture. you have to be really good in math to keep up with her. she goes through the material so fast. she talks too fast. Yeah she is nice, but I wouldn't take her class again.
MRS REYNOLDS' CLASS IS CHALLENGING BUT SHE IS WILLING TO HELP YOU AS LONG AS YOU ARE WILLING TO PUT IN THE EFFORT. I WOULD RECOMMEND TAKING HER CLASS.
Very tough grader. Went over tests with my tutor (who is another math professor at this school) and even he agreed that she marked me down way too harshly. Also has a very unclear homework policy, as she did different things in 1050 and 1100 despite both having the same policy in the syllabus. Avoid her at all costs
She will answer any questions you have. She's super nice and will give you extra practice to do during class where you can ask her for help. She gives extra points for the practice, homework, study guides. You keep track and can get an extra 6%.
Practice every technique over and over again--test problems use everything you learned and are sometimes very challenging. Try writing your own notes--her's were imperfect. Get all "work points" offered. Participate in group efforts--you can learn from others' mistakes and pick up on some of your own. Don't let her exam reviews discourage you.
Overall she's a decent instructor. Sassy but nice. If no one goes up to the board she will get angry. So that's a nice thing in the morning. I missed a class because I had an emergency and that was fine. I emailed her twice with no response on notes. Her accent is heavy but for the most part she's understandable. The plus is she gives extra credit.
Do all homework, lecture notes, exam reviews, and whiteboard problems. Ask as many questions as you need to in class. She is open to answering all questions. She is an excellent professor, makes class fun, is a stringent grader, and exam questions will feel fair if you follow the advice from my first sentence. One of my favorite professors.
By far the worst instructor you can ever take within the catalog of OCC instructors. Her patience with students and asking questions is minimal. She doesn't make herself clear, she stacks you with an overload of homework every week that is required but not graded, she does not curve exams, and doesn't prepare you with the right material. Don't Take
I took this class online and it was a huge mistake. Whenever I would email her a question I would rarely get a response and when she did respond it would never actually clear anything up. Easily the worst teacher I ever had. The majority of your grade is based on exams and while she does give a review, it does not prepare you for the exam.
This professor was one of the worse academic experiences Ive ever had. I could go on and on, but Im just gonna leave it at dont waste your time or money.
Unbelievable treatment by this professor! I lost my parent mid semester and was going through the toughest time of my life, and when I explained that to her and said I need more time to get assignments done she said the work still needs to be done on time theres nothing I can do about that. WOW. Just wow. She didnt show an ounce of care! Absurd
Easily the worst math professor at OCC. Extremely tough grader! Will put loads of material on test that we never went over! Offers NO extra credit whatsoever! She is incredibly rude! Gets very mad when you ask her to explain something again. Gives LOADS if homework. I ended up dropping out and losing my money. BEWARE! AVOID AT ALL COST! BE SMART!
she grades discussions and homework like its an exam. she will mark you off on absolutely ANYTHING. she's the toughest grader. her exams are 15 pages long, she accused the whole class of using chegg on her exam and opened an OCC/chegg investigation. she has lots of time on her hands to be bitter and fail students rather than help and support.
This was the worst professor I have taken in my entire 4 years of college. She was beyond disrespectful and lacked communication skills. I do not understand how she has a job still
Worst math professor I have ever taken. SO much hw, the only two things that matter are the MT and Final. Accused the whole class of cheating. Every week goes thru a worksheet on Zoom that has nothing to do w the HW. I would honestly take this class with anyone else. She has a heavy accent which just makes hard to understand and shes rude
aside from negativity she is fair. don't play the system. plain and simple weakly quizzes, written assignments and discussion, three of each lower score is dropped, total of up to 300 points in extra credit makes 30%. one final one mid term. all comes from lecture. exam review is same as test. patient and answers questions clearly. 1hr lecture only
Statistics was never a strong suit of mine, but if you attend her (optional) lectures, she does a great job breaking down the material so it's easy to understand. She provides plenty of chances for extra credit and offers a study guide and study sessions for the exams (what were really helpful). Professor Reynolds provides you the tools to succeed.
She is strict yet reasonable and upfront about what is expected from the beginning. Attend the sessions, participate, put in the work and you'll make it. She gave extra credit, helpful review sessions, and study guides for the exam. Appreciated her help and the different options for the final!
Prof Reynolds was wonderful. I'm lucky to have been in her class. Since this was remote, she gives you the option to participate in the weekly zoom sessions for extra credit. The material was definitely challenging, but any time I emailed her for help, she responded promptly. Attend the zoom classes- they help w/ the material & you'll pass for sure
Attend zoom meetings, review lectures, do all the works, you should do good with this class. She gives a lot of extra credits opportunity, drop your lowest scores for quizzes and assignments. The works are relevant to what she taught. She explains problems well and open to answer your questions. She is nice and helpful. My favorite professor so far
Out of all of the math classes I've had since I could remember, this is one of the few professors that made math bearable. Even though I had held off on asking a question for weeks before emailing her and asking her for help, she was still really understanding and kind when she helped me. So ask questions, even if you think it's dumb or too late!
Be prepared to work. The assignments and quizzes are very manageable if you simply, participate, read the short PowerPoints, and practice. The exams can be a bit harder than the class material, they are manageable with the right prep. DO NOT CHEAT, YOU Will BE CAUGHT. She allows plenty of help on the exams anyways. Helpful, knowable, personable.
She takes the time to make sure you understand the concepts that you will need to know for the tests and homework. The Zoom sessions were very beneficial because she broke down all of the concepts step by step and the extra credit was a nice bonus. She notices the time and effort you put in so, play fair and put in the effort and you will do well.
Zoom meetings are extra credit, but GO TO THEM. Her lectures are very helpful. I didnt use the book, studied the powerpoints, went to zoom meetings, did all assignments, and ended with a 103%. Shes very understanding with everything going on right now. DO NOT CHEAT ON ANY EXAM. She caught tons of kids this semester. TAKE HER and PUT IN THE WORK.
She offered extra credit to post on here. Look at the dates of the most recent reviews. She's awful, please do yourself a favor and don't take any classes with her. LOTS of hw, tests are hard, quizzes are hard. Don't cheat cause she caught a lot of people and she will fail you. She's rude, and the extra credit zoom meetings do NOTHING for you.
She's just not a good professor. Don't waste your time or energy or money on this. There is better options at OCC to take this class.
Literally do the homework and the MLM online work and participate. She gave bonus points as well so really if you score well on quizzes and do everything on time you can pass with an A. The first time I took it I was not focused in the class. I wasn't understanding some of the material and ended up suffering so this time I aced it stay on top of hw
Professor Reynolds really made statistics easy for me. She goes over the worksheets for every topic each week, working on the problems so that it is easier for us to follow step-by-step. The homework was also pretty straightforward and very similar to the worksheets. The exams were also pretty easy to follow if you do all the homework she gives.
I took MATH 1580 which is statistics, a pretty hard subject itself, but I received an A. How? The extra credit. Professor Reynolds offers 10 points of extra credit for every ZOOM lecture with a 100 point limit though. GO FOR IT. Also the final exam is optional as long as you scored more than 150 on the midterm and finish all of the work. Satisfied.
Took the professor for Calc 3. Was a difficult class, but that was not her fault. She taught the class well, and forces you to do weekly group assignments that, at first, seem like such a headache but become very useful. Would recommend her. Gives a lot of credit for homework, to balance out the very difficult exams.
Really great class, it was calc 3 so the content itself was hard but she was a good teacher. Provides lots of extra credit and responds to emails fairly quickly. With the amount of extra credit if you did the work you can easily get an A.
Very helpful and understanding professor. She supports her students with a lot of extra credit points which help overall grade. If you do all your HW & watch her zoom videos, you have a very decent shot at an A. She wants you to succeed. I work 40hrs and was taking 2 other classes and I got an A :) its possible!!
Extremely accommodating with busy work schedules - not being able to attend many zoom lectures wasn't a problem. Each week required homework assignments and 1 recap quiz, which was enough to master the material without being too much work. There were many opportunities for extra credit and lowest scores were dropped.
Mrs. Reynolds made this the easiest math class I have ever taken! She posted everything on d2l right away and graded immediately, which helped a lot. SO much extra credit is offered and she always gave feedback while grading to help my understanding. I would definitely take a class with her again!
Mrs. Reynolds was one of the best math teachers I have ever had! She was thoughtful, respectful, and easy to reach. She responded to emails quickly, which was very helpful. She had office hours that you could attend for extra credit, and they were very informative! I took MAT1580 (Statistics), and I would highly recommend Mrs. Reynolds!
She is amazing! There is a lot opportunities to receive extra credit if you just put in a little bit of your time! She answers emails very quickly and held very helpful zoom sessions.
I had no problem relearning the material because I had taken statistics in high school about 1 year ago, but I feel very bad for the students learning it for the first time. In order to succeed in this class you must be extremely self-motivated and driven to learn. I took it online.
This class was the epitome of put in the work and you will be fine. There is lots of extra credit and opportunities to raise your grade.
I thought Professor Reynolds was great! She was super helpful. I'm not a math person in the slightest, so I was a little nervous coming in. But there was tons of extra credit, which really boosted my grade. As long as you go to class, you'll be fine. If you put in the effort, so will she, and you'll come out of it with a bit of a GPA boost.
Professor Reynolds is great! The material in MAT1630 is quite difficult and having it condensed into a 12-week course made mastering it 10x harder. Professor Reynolds was very accommodating and had no problem helping her students. Although the material was difficult, she gave A TON of extra credit, which ultimately was the reason I did so well!
Dropped before even taking the class. Asked her to correct her syllabus quiz to align with her syllabus and the first thing she told me was to drop the class (RED FLAG). Wasn't going to until I saw the terrible reviews for her on here and the fake 5 stars for extra credit. I feel like I dodged a bullet! CHOOSE LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE!
I'm begging and warning you to not take this professor. She is rude, hard to understand, makes typos in every post/review so you have the wrong information going into exams, and is unwilling to help if there are any problems. This class has destroyed my GPA- the textbook teaches better than she does.
The packets provided are clear cut and generally, practice is awarded in class and w/ a good amount of extra credit on homework. However, the content often studied in class tends to be incomplete and you will have to read/google material often for the homework. Exams are difficult, grading is tough, and the Professor is rude/apathetic towards ?'s
Reynolds takes vindictiveness to a new level. Don't dare ask questions. She'll call you stupid in front of entire class. She has no interest in students actually learning anything. It's no secret she offers extra credit for putting good reviews on this site. ProTip: Stay away from a college that keeps Profs like her. OCC must be desperate.
The WORST teacher I have ever had. The amount of stress and frustration I got out of this class in comparison to the amount of effort I put in is unparalleled. She makes the content so hard to understand and doesn't even teach everything on the test. I went to tutoring for 6 HOURS and still failed. Tutor said Tatiana is "the bane of my existence."
One of the only teachers Ive ever had that bullies her students. In my class, every time test scores werent great she would get angry and lecture the students about how they werent smart enough and how she did her job. Seriously, dont take her classes.
This class is hard; however, if you put in the time and effort youll do well. Professor Reynolds lectures weekly which prepares you for the work that week. She is always accessible via email for questions and she offers a lot of extra credit. Highly recommend this professor.
The course might seem difficult but professor Reynold explains everything thoroughly. She has weekly zoom sessions that go over practice problems and answer all questions. She offers a ton of extra credit that will boost up your grade. Make sure that you attend zoom, ask questions, do HW, and practice your reviews and you will pass the class.
Don't trust bad the reviews, the people who left bad reviews had to put 0 effort in. Dr. Reynolds class was extremely fair, lots of extra credit available. Exams were very transparent, and the final grade weighting is more than fair for Exam to HW/Quizzes.
Very consistent homework every week, if you put in the effort you come out with a good grade. If you don't watch her pre-recorded lectures, you'll have to be much more active in the optional weekly classes and in actually reading the textbook, but otherwise they're barely necessary. Lots of extra credit, if you put in the effort.
The professor is fair and if you honestly try you are going to get an A. She has zoom sessions and if you participate you get extra credit. There is a packet that opts you out of the final. There a lot of hw but there is EC built in. If you try, participate, do the assignments, and ask you are going to do great. I highly recommend.
There are students who are posting fake five star reviews about extra credit and zoom sessions. This seems to be the norm for all the 5 star ratings on here. Do not listen to them because she is a terrible teacher thats why she makes you pass by giving extra credit.
one of those worst instructors she makes the material seem very hard when is really not. she is rude, she favor good student over others, she treats adult students like student in kindergarten. overall, this professor doesn't fit in teaching adults at all.
The online class was easy to follow. Attend zoom meetings, finish all homeworks and discussion posts. If you do well on the midterms she exempts you from taking the final. Always read the instructions well. It will help. Lots of extra credit points. Overall it is easy to get an A if you are disciplined about submitting all assignments.
Prof. Reynolds has fair policies for her class that make it easy to pass if you put in the necessary effort. There is tons of extra credit embedded, and many grades are dropped by default (including 1 test). Prof. was very responsive by email and typically willing to help. However, be prepared to read the book and do some self-learning.
Giving extra credit to leave a good review? Are you kidding? How about teaching the material instead of accusing your class of cheating off of each other? This is an online class I don't even know another person in this class so there is no way for me to even cheat with another student. And why is every good review the exact same? Seems Fishy
Pretty easy and comprehensible online summer course.
Professor Reynolds had a detailed syllabus showing what to expect. There was a review of problems @ optional extra credit lectures. They were held at 2 diff times and posted online for students who couldn't make it. I learned a lot. Those who were dissatisfied were either mad MATH wasn't a blow-off class (lol), or that it was hard to cheat.
BE WARNED!! Do not take this course with Professor Reynolds if your life depends on it. She does not grade the same way for all students, syllabus states that she responds to emails daily.. WRONG, and she does not care if you pass the class she's just trying to get paid! After taking this course twice I am now putting my degree on hold!!!
Professor Reynolds taught a great online class. She laid out clear expectations in the syllabus. She offered very helpful extra credit zooms weekly with reviews of problems (highly suggest going). Many grades are dropped. She answers questions outside of class, in zoom, and quickly responds to emails. If you put in the work needed you will pass!
This was a great online statistics class. If you go to the zoom meetings you will learn everything you need to know, and the teacher explains it in a way that is easy to understand. She replies to her emails very readily, so if you have a question don't be afraid to ask she is always willing to help. The homework assignments really help you learn.
If you really struggle with math I would really recommend taking Mrs. Reynolds. Her lectures are super helpful, she also makes the zoom meetings extra credit which really helps. There is usually one quiz, one discussion board, one written assignment and one online homework due every week. Overall its pretty easy.
Professor Reynolds was approachable and easily accessible outside of class. She focused on making sure you learned the fundamentals and offered many opportunities for extra credit. I'm hoping she teaches Calc 1&2 as I will be looking to take them with her if she does.
This is for Intro to Stats. I did well in this class, but if you are someone who struggles with math I suggest looking for a different professor. She offers extra credit. Weekly zooms (1 hour long) are the "lectures". Be prepared to teach yourself.
I took Professor Reynolds for statistics in the fall and the class was straightforward. The syllabus was clearly outlined and the optional weekly lectures provide engagement and feedback. There was extra credit and the two lowest grades in each grade category were dropped. My exam scores were 89% and 88%, and final grade 104%.
For differential equations, she was wonderful teacher. She made sure to go over the main ideas and always helped us students understand what we where learning. She is very understanding and gives us choices of what type of problems we want on the test. She also gives us extra credit for talking on zoom. She allows every kid the option to succeed.
Great teacher with plenty of extra credit. The beginning of the class is definitely more challenging than the end, so be prepared to work hard for the first two tests.
Professor Reynolds was very helpful and accessible when needed. Most of my problems with the class were self-inflicted, but if you stay on top of reading the text before each week's class, participate in online meetings, and do not wait to do the assignments each week, it won't be that bad. The class gets much easier as it goes on.
Online class very well structured. Weekly Zoom for extra credit, recorded lecture, quiz, discussion, MLM homework. 3 exams with Review. Read powerpoint, download Zoom lecture file and get familiar with topics on Youtube before meeting, you got easy A. Quick with email replies, very supportive professor. Ask questions and participate in Zoom calls.
If you put in the work and stay organized for the online class, Professor Reynolds is great! She offers plenty of extra credit for participation in optional Zoom lectures weekly. Weekly homework, discussion and quiz. Exams are tough but fair. I needed to read the chapters to understand the content but I ended up with a very high grade.
A good class overall. Opportunities for extra credit. If do good on the first two exams you don't have to do the final exam. Responds to emails promptly.
I took this statistics course online and asynchronously. Professor Reynolds offered weekly one hour lectures to help understand the material early on for extra credit. I got over 100% in the course by making most of these and scoring well enough on the first two tests to skip the final. If you do the work and pay attention, you'll do great.
Professor Reynolds is a great teacher. I am taking a online class from her. It is challenging. I do wish the class zoom meetings were longer because of how informative she is. I get the most from the zoom meetings. It was a summer class, so online was the only option (at least when I signed up). I highly recommend professor.
Summer 2023, wasn't bad. 2 MANDATORY exams; 1st either online or inperson, and 2nd inperson. They were fairly okay exams as long as you study and pay attention. Weekly quizzes, MLM work, written assignments, and discussion posts/replies. Tons of extra credit. "Lectures" held once every week (bonus points for attending). Okay/decent email responder.
not a bad class but I felt like she was kind of insensitive and didn't really care about her students. She maintained her professionalism so it wasn't a huge deal but definitely not a "must have" professor.
I had Professor Reynolds for my summer stats course. She was very nice but hard to understand sometimes because of her accent. She had weekly Zoom meetings that were extra credit if you attended and talked. I just wish the Zoom meetings were longer to go more in-depth about the problems we were doing that week.
The review underneath this one is accidently listed for Diff EQ and it's meant to be for 1540E. Oops sorry. Seriously take this class. Put in the work now and Calc will be a breeze.
It was a hard class, especially if you were new to some of the topics. However, the way she taught really helped built a working and in-depth understanding of how to solve problems with these ideas. A very sweet teacher, I'd love to have her again, hopefully in person next time!
So basically expect no practice exams, and nit picky feedback on all exams. Points off not for work missing a degree sign or a vector sign (not in the answer though). Excuses for not posting practice exams includes "it is calc 3", but trust me, my classes at U of M all give practice exams to adequately prepare for the exams.
do not take reynolds. She is not accessible outside of the class, does not help with the online homework. is not helpful in class, expects you to just know what to do. you only get one day to study for exams. good luck if you have a full schedule the only day to study. all online work looks nothing like the exam/class work. i regret taking her.
This professor really does care about her students. She just is very intimidating. But deep down she really is a nice person that wants to help out. I would take her again.
There is tons of homework in the class and lots of in class work. Attendance is not mandatory but does not accept late work so you need you show up to do the in class assignments. Does not help on in class work very well. You only have 1 day to study for an exam and she is a very tough grader
Summer courses are impossible since due dates for quizzes are at the middle of the week in the middle of the day; the rest are on Saturday night. If you work in the summer, she does not respect you, so do not take her. Doesn't even lecture; just rips videos from other people and posts them. Awful communication.
The class setup in the summer is horrible with quizzes based on the notes being due at wed at 2 pm making it so that you have to finish all the notes and textbooks reading by tuesday essentially. Horrible when it comes to grading you assignments and tests, offers no amount of partial credit and the feedback given is nonexistent. So much work too.
Calculus 3 is easy, but this professor sets you up for failure (she WANTS you to fail!). Due dates screw you over and are extremely unfair, just to specifically be mean to students and give them a had time. Quizzes are due 2.5 days after the material is posted. all homework due on Saturday, which really messes up students who work during the week.
Not sure why a professor who can't even spell things correctly on quizzes or form coherent sentences for the lecture notes (random strings of words that make no sense) is organizing this course.
The professor explains the concepts well and has time after class to help individual students.
The class was ok and there was a lot of homework but overall was manageable and the professor taught the concepts really well.
Online learning is not meant for everyone, some people aren't driven enough, can't hold themselves accountable, and/or cannot learn if not in a classroom setting. Your success in this class is a direct equation of your effort. The only recommendation is that the videos go more into the thought process of solving questions, (why, not just how).
Hilariously fake MAT2740 review 2 below this. How do I know? The grade distribution this professor posted has only 1 person with an 'A' grade in the entire course. This class is "co-taught" with Daniel Preisler, who is a real piece of work when it comes to lectures, length of assignments, and exam difficulty. Reynolds does nothing.
Co-taught with Daniel Preisler. Her quizzes don't contribute to learning or understanding and they are worded weirdly. She hosts class zoom sessions, which are great, but they're at 2PM on Wednesdays. If you work, it'll be difficult to attend weekly. Won't post the recording either because of a law? I've had Calc professors post zoom recordings.
Prof Reynolds is good. The content is not too difficult, and the Zoom's for extra credit were very helpful when it came to studying for exams. The grading was picky on the homework (Preisler graded those) and the online hw was kinda a chore, but overall it was not bad at all. Extra credit saved me in this class.
Good professor if you're looking for something fast-paced. If you take the extension class, expect extra homework and staying after class for hours with little help. Knowledgeable professor, but not good at explaining math to people who signed up for the extra credit version for more in-depth explanations.
Professor Reynolds can be intimidating, but she genuinely cares about helping students succeed. The workload is heavy, but the extra credit opportunities and unstuck ai make it manageable. Attend the Zoom lectures and stay organized.
She's a great professor and she helped understand the material well! However, the quizzes at the start of each new topic can be a little daunting, especially due to their 3pm due time. But, the zoom meetings give extra credit on the same day and make up for some of the points lost. She gives many extra credit opportunities so its easy to succeed.
Shes a really great teacher! Shes reallly understanding and is good at explaining things. Go to zoom meetings, its really worth it. You can lowkey be bad at math and just extra credit your way to A in this class. She is also super understanding and wants you to learn. However the person who grades the tests and homework is not her and is rlly hard
Dr. Reynolds is a good, kind professor. She offers a lot of opportunities for extra credit to boost your grade. The midterm/final are 30% of your grade. It is integral that you understand the material and work very hard. Do not recommend taking this class if you are bad with math/have little time. This is a pretty difficult class.
This class was supposed to be easy. However this teacher Reynolds, made it an absolute nightmare. First off, her accent makes it truly hard to understand her. Two, her hand writing was mostly not legible. Three, she would berate you if you kept getting it wrong even through it was a class meant for extra help. Do NOT take this class.
Professor was brutal. She made asking for help feel incredibly shameful and embarassing. I had an immense amount of anxiety simply showing up to her class. One of the few pros to her course was that she drops a lot of assignments. Not reccomended for those who have a hard time with math.
Horrible. Overall experience was super bad. super hard exams that were nothing like the homework or notes.
She's very serious but she's a wonderful teacher. She genuinely wants her students to succeed and she clearly explains everything she's teaching. I'd take this professor again if I had to take any other math classes.
The assignments involved printing an online document, hand writing, and then scanning back to electronic form (online class). The instructions are written very poorly. A question might say graph 3x+y=3 for example, and then you will lose points for showing too little work. However showing too much work will also lose you points. AVOID THIS PROF.
Professor is very caring, and gives a ton of extra credit! Has weekly zoom meetings to go over material. She also sends a PDF of what you got wrong on tests. Overall great and highly recommend!
I earned an A in Prof. Reynold's class! She was fair & helpful. Syllabus was accurate. GO to the online zoom meetings (typically there were only a few of us and it was nearly 1 on 1 help), do the homework, DO the extra credit, DO the practice exam, ASK questions. I'm not great at math, but she is my favorite! My prev math w/ a different prof.=C.
Prof Reynolds is great! I'm not great at math and earned an A (up from a C in a prev math w/ a different professor). She gives many chances for extra credit, & her opt. zoom meetings really help! She gives practice exams which you can do multiple times. She's very flexible w/ testing centers or w/ her. Don't skip the extra helps or credit!
Her class is all about doing work during lecture time, which she wanted complete at 100% accuracy- which doesn't sound bad doing the chunk of your points in the course with her in the room, but every time I asked her a question she made me feel horrible. Most of the time she was very condescending and even passive aggressive.
Avoid if you're looking for a professor to support you. She's not nice and makes you feel like you're the dumbest student in the world. Answers your questions to an extent, she's very snappy. Worst part is that the final review is nothing like the final exam. Brace yourself in this class.
I took the enhanced class to receive extra help, instead I got extra work and would spend 30-60 minutes after class to work on it and if she left and didn't check you'd end up with only a 50% completion. Half your work is done in class so attendance is mandatory. She will also make you feel stupid for asking questions.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS TEACHER! She does not communicate anything. Her rules are not the same for everyone in the class. She grades harshly. The class was supposed to come with support, it came with none. She's not that great at explaining things when you need her to. She does not care to fail you.
THE WORST!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! She does not provide any support and is condescending. She favors certain students in class and it shows. So much work in class without any helpful feedback. Save yourself and take someone else!
Really cares about her students! Math is not easy but if you do the homework yourself and attend her optional zoom sessions (which are EC) you should do well in the class. She grades fairly and will help you out if you go to her in enough time. Unfortunately I had the class co-taught with preisler who was terrible and unfair but Reynolds helped
Attend the optional weekly Zoom sessions! They're incredibly helpful, and participation earns you extra credit. You'll need good study skills for this class; exams are in person, no notes allowed. Start your review at least a week before each exam. She requires a private Zoom before each exam to go over the review, which is also incredibly helpful.
