She is very very very helpful, she will do anything to help you. Good teacher. Do your homework and you will pass the class. If you are reading this Dr Stantcheva, you rock. Thanks
Shes nice but her exams are so hard. She gives study guides but you get em the class before the exam. In lecture she rambles on and on- if you want to understand anything, you need to see her during "office hours." Her final is IMPOSSIBLE
she sucks :(
Miserable course with miserable professor
SHE IS VERY SMART. HELPFUL AT ALL TIMES. I STAYED MOST OF THE TIME FOR HER OFFICE HOURS TO SOLVE PROBLEMS, IT REALLY HELPED ME A LOT. JUST DO ALL YOUR STAFF AND YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED AT ALL.
Very helpful, do your homework and make sure you understand the concept, not the problem. I wish I had her for 231. Thank you professor.
I dont know why all the phy 202 students dont like her? I had her for phy 232, she was very helpful. Yes, because this is her first time teaching there are some places she can improve, but to my opinion she was very good for first time. Just do your homework and understant the concept.
She is so easy going teacher. She gives a lot of extra credit problems. Dr. Stantcheva is very kind and helpful at any time. I love her. Very beautiful.
Pros: She always stayed after to help the students with any problems as long as it took. Had a genuine desire to "teach" (rare at NOVA). She gave a lot extra credit. The tests were not hard if the homework was done.CONS: Some chapters were "rushed" because of snow days. OVERALL: GOOD TEACHER
i don't know what these people are talking about i took her in the spring of this year and thought she was an excellent teacher. she gave plenty of extra credit. not to say that you don't have to work in this class, but if you put your time in you should end up with a solid B. i'm taking her again in the fall for Phys II.
Hello, gays it is really a time to get A'S and improve your G.P.A. I took Phy 231-232 with here and I got A in both classes because she is very easy and helpful to students. So,Do not wait long to register her class because it gets full very soon. Moreover, she has good personality and attitudes for life in general. Finally,I really recommend you gays
She is a nice teacher, but she is a new teacher and therefore does not have a lot of experience in teaching. Her tests are hard and her notes/lectures are unclear. You basically have to teach yourself. Her practice tests are helpful. I would recommend Dr. Wimbush.
She does a good job. The material was difficult but she tries hard to be clear. She is very nice & helpful, especially at office hours. Lab is frustrating since everyone is confused about what needs to be done. Tests were fair, do the hw, for lab make sure someone in your group is good at statistics, there's lots of error calculations.
VERY DIFFICULT IN GRADING. SHE HAS NOT IMPROVES ENOUGH TO TEACH. SHE IS CONFUSED ABOUT MATTERIALS. PLEASE, WAKE UP EARLY TO REGISTER FOR DR. WIMBUSH. IT IS WORTH IT. BELIEVE ME.
She is a very nice teacher, very funny and very helpfull during office hours. she'd would give you lots of practice problems. during the test, she lets you use an equation sheet, very unclear, i must say. when she lectues, she exposes you to every single little detail there is to know aobut the subject. often, missing out on the big pictue.
I got an A in her class. She is so passionate and smart. Take her class and you will enjoy her class and A grade is reserved for you
very helpful...very nice, young and smart....she is willing to help anytime you want.she trys her best to be clear...very easy going...easy tests.
she's a great teacher! she's helpful..plus she gives little extra credit help here and there...lab was easy too, all in all, u wont regret taking her!
Professor Stantcheva is an exceptional teacher. Although I received a C in her class I found her to be easily hands down the best professor I have had. She is extremely helpful and always willing to give additional problems and one-on-one tutoring before and after class. Bottom line; Prof. Stantcheva is a great professor!

She is absolutly unprofessional and not at the college level for teaching and I dont know who gave her the permission to teach.I loved physics until i took her class. She thinks she is funny with her stupid jokes but trust me she is not.She asks if you have questions but if you ask her something she goes mad and dont answer properly. Dont take her.
Stay as far as possible from this prof., physics was one of my favorite subjects until I took her class. She treats her students like children, disrespectful, and unprofessional.
DONT TAKE HER CLASS! EVEN BY MISTAKE, we barely understand anything in her class as well as she is very rude to the students if you ask any questions. She makes fun of you and insults you in the class and lab making you feel stupid. GET AS FAAAAAARR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM THIS PROFESSOR. HER TESTS ARE EVEN HARDER, STAY AWAY FROM HER FOR YOUR BENEFIT.

great prof...
domb arse monkey teacher. waste of time. we the students can teach beter than the teacher
awfull, terrible,no good at all, do not recomend her even to my enemies and im hoping somebody kick her out of Nova one day.
She's great. Don't believe those guys who marked her down. She might be difficult to who do not pay attention and never do hw, but if you do what you need to do, no reason to get B or under.
this womans got issues.. shes not fair and i doubt she may be accepting bribes.. hmmm.. y do nova has to hire such teachers.. not her fault alone.. novas fault also they dont have gud teachers.
WOOOW! I just gave up on physics! If u r kind of lazy or working part time, dont even think about takin her!!
great!!
If you have taken physics in high school and have taken calculus w/ trig. you will be ok. But she is a hard teacher. If you have her for lecture and you take her lab she will give you a quiz every week on her lecture in lab. She uses different formulas than in the book. She is not very helpful. She will adv. to see a tutor or take another math clas
she's not really good at teaching, but she's very nice, kinda tough on grading, but if u read the notes and turn in the lab reports, u can get an A, the exams are pretty easy.
she is awful.. she lives in her own little bubble.. she is inhumane and does not qualify to be in any shape or form a teacher.. let alone a physics teacher.. if she starts teaching PE.. her students will fail dat too and get lung cancers probably because of poor health techniques
worst teacher i have ever seen. she needs to get back to her elementary school and learn how to read and write in English first. not explaining materials well and everything is basically on your own. wouldnt recomend her at all. im gona withraw the class myself and take it with someone else. awful, awful, awful, no , no , no
omg. i have no idea what has she been smoking. she sits on her chair and acts like queen elizabeth on her thrown.. while she looks like a miserable clown trying to make ppl look at her performance. shes the perfect example of what happens wen you jus randomly piksombudy up from the streets to start teaching ppl.
would not recomend. she teaches anything and everything but physics.
if your money grows on trees and your father owns bank of america.. please feel free to waste 5 credits worth of money taking this class with her.. its so depressing i lost my money on this stupd idiott teacher.. if i cud get that money bak i would feed a hungry child
ok, it looks like the person before me posted 10 comments in a row. shes not the best teacher, but if you go to class, do homework, and work hard to figure out the online quizes, the class isnt that bad. most important thing i can stress is doing the homework; do that and you will succeed. she usually drops one test. has a slight accent.
dont take this class unless you already know physics. CANNOT teach. her online quizes and labs arent bad though. i wouldnt take another class wit her.she has a bit of an accent. very smart and thinks physics is very easy wen its actually pretty damn difficult. CANNOT TEACH and doesnt have any expericne shes young. in her 30s!
Miss.Stantcheva is not a good teacher because she gets annoyed by people when they ask questions. She needs to understand the level of education in PHY 231, get down and dirty to teach these students. To be a high caliber teacher, she should be very involved in teaching nd not be doing it for money for the passion of subject which she seem's not to
Wimbush is way better than this lady, took a class with her ended up droping it because she just does not want to help you. Took Dr. Wimbush next semester got a high B. She should be fired, i think. She makes big mess out of even labs i mean come on stupid lady.
Teacher with good intentions. Dr Stantcheva teaches a largely theoretical subject which requires great teaching skills, her english is great however she loses patience with her students and fails to realize sometimes the easiest ideas seem perplexing to students. Need to be familiar with topic before attending class.
She is just horrible. I asked a question and she made me feel like an idiot. I thought i should rather withdraw and take it with some else. so i got my money back and i thanked god for making me not have to see her again.
she dont kno jak shi t bout how to teach.. i had to talk to 'friends' from uni who dont hav phd to understand basic material
i have never seen a proffesor who makes physics as simple as this profssor. she is helpful, as a great knowledge about the subject(beyond) i recommened everybody to take this class.
Not an easy course but a managable one. She is very clear and goes by the book. Study the book and the examples she does on the board and you will get an A. Very helpful and cool teacher. The other people who commented negatively are probably not very good student. Medium hard tests and final is a sampler of all her tests. Good course and gr8 Teach
Very good teacher! Physics is not an easy course, but she tries to do everything to make it easier for students. I'm happy that I took her class. I'm gonna take 202 with Dr.Stantcheva again. I would recommend her!
Professor Stantcheva is the best teacher ever!!!!! she is very helpful and understanding as long as you do not go off limits. Her Class is not easy since it is a college level, but if you study hard, go to class and pay attention, then you will be able to get a nice grade. Her lectures are crystal clear and her labs are the same thing. Just STUDY A
Very good, funny, and enthusiastic professor. She gives a lot of practice problems and she always is available for help. Take her and you will (with work on your part, of course) end the class with a very good understanding of physics. Don't listen to any bad ratings.
This woman must have something wrong with her. By default, she is abrasive and hard to get along with. Very difficult to deal with. Not sure how she got this position. Probably would be better off in research. Not a people person. At. All.
Listen everyone! before i took this tacher , i read almost all comments about her and i was doubting if i should or not. i was thinking maybe the student are either genious or complete idiots. So i was afraid a litle bit because i havent take phy alost 5 years. I took 231, and at the end of the semester my conclusion was the students who wrote ba
Exceptional teaching ability and helpful to all students. She knows the subject matter very well and easy to ask anything you want, I mean qeustion that concern about education only.
I didnt get a good because I didnt too well one all of the exams so i think i did well on the final but it didn't matter bcuz it all adds up. now abt her teaching, she is excellent, very clear, the best physics teacher in nova. Altho she is hard if you miss a class or two you feel behind. her online quizes are hard. but I recmnd her!
I am a fair person, and this is what i will do today. This teacher does nto know physics, she only remembers formulas and spits them on the board. She does not care about the lab , she can't open files on the computer too(??).She makes some jokes that no one understands. She lies to the dean about the students and i heard her doing that.Any way,..
Im sorry, but the people who have been putting mean comments about her were either LAZY or wanted the EASY way out. She is an excellent teacher. Wimbush subbed one of my classes one time and between her and him, Stantcheva made the material easy to understand and she went straight to the point.
I like the professor, She makes you practice. If you try, getting A is not hard either. Only thing is that you have to solve practice problems and quizes prior to test. And also she has practice session prior to every exam. So, If you give time you will understand the material and get good grades too. I recommend to take her.
she is not a good teacher. do not recommend her at all. i want my money bak but i cant. screw this lady
oh.. I had to drop her class. for me, she wasn't clear and mumble the words so I couldn't understand.. but i liked that she keeps her notes online. i took this class because i love math and physics.. but this class was hard and not fun.
She's an alright teacher but can have an attitude at times and sometimes gets annoyed when students ask questions. Her grading is easy and she drops the lowest test grade. But that doesnt mean its an easy class, I got A's on my quizzes but failed my tests so had to drop the class for the sake of my GPA. Overall if you study hard, you should be fine
Prof. Stantcheva is a great professor. She gives the student a formula sheet. You can annotate the formula sheet. She drops the lowest test. She posts the lecture notes on blackboard. Very helpful. This is David Andritsis. Thank you Prof. Stantcheva. See you in PHY 232.
Her class was definitely a challenge for me--literally the hardest class I have ever taken (already have a BA, but need a few more sciences). If you complete her quizzes, do the extra credit (very few throughout the semester) and practice you will be fine. If you're not willing to put in 5+ hours a week, you may want to consider another professor.
Her exam was hard. You have too many questions for 1h! I wish I had dropped her class. Now it's too late. It is really but really stressful. You definitely do not need that
Interesting teacher. She was able to answer alot of questions even when not pertainin to physics directly. All in all, pretty good class because she kept the interest level somewhat up there but study for those exams.
Good teacher. Knows physics extremely well and can explain things very effectively. Would recommend this teacher. She brings physics to a level that many people can easily understand.
Love her! She is a wonderful professor. She really tests your knowledge, so do not think it will be an easy A. You definitely need to practice, but if you put in the time, attend class/lab and complete quizzes you will excel!
She is really cool as a teacher. She makes physics look like an easy course. The exams are hard, to be honest. You have to prepare yourself by doing the practice exams. If you try a little bit and do all the extra credits you will get A. You should take her if you want learn and have a good grade with a little work.
Great professor who matches your intensity for success. If you expect a cakewalk, go somewhere else. If you expect to just prop open a book and get an A, go somewhere else. Material can be tough, but if you are in this class you should well expect it by now. Exams are almost straight from the homework, and frequently easier.
Best teacher I've ever had, so far. If you do the work, you are almost guaranteed an A in the class. She boosts your grade by around 10% just for doing all the quizzes and labs. Just study for the tests by doing the homeworks and reading the book and you'll do great.
Best physics teacher
Dr S is a quality professor who knows her stuff and knows how to explain complex concepts in a refreshingly simple way.
Professor stantcheva has a clear grading scale so you can always calculate your grade and won't have to guess. During lectures she goes very fast so you either speak up or get left behind. Tests resemble study guides. The final is very vague however. It is open note but you are left guessing what you will need to know for it. It can make or break
Her class is hard but she sure will bring the best out of you. For 232 just please follow her lecture and do all practice problems(don't skip any one!).
Phy232 is a very important class for all science and engineering students. Prof. Stantcheva is a great professor. If you want to get a good grade please DO ALL THE ASSIGNED HOMEWORK AND QUIZZES. Plus make your own STUDY NOTES to bring during exam. LOT'S OF WORK NEEDED. initially I was very depressed with grades but ended up an A.
save your time and money. I'm a 4.0 GPA student. she doesn't care about the student. All what she's doing is posting things online. she is not helpful and she's super fast. she wont give lots of examples. Exams are kind of fair but you have to learn by yourself. its physics! you have to understand the material not memorize them! don't take her.
She provides all tools to succeed. If you read the material, attend class, review the background notes, do all the practice problems and prior exams, you will do fine on the exams and receive a good grade. She offers extra tests, quizzes, and labs, and will help you outside class. She has to cover a lot of ground and you will have to keep up.
Honestly the most chill and effective teacher I could have asked for in a summer class. The homework was super useful for the tests, and the tests were reasonable. Her lectures were super clear and she wasn't nit-picky on the way you solved something or rounding. I would definitely recommend her!!
Dr. Stantcheva will do everything in her ability to help you succeed. It's a difficult subject for people who aren't confident in their abilities to manage time wisely. Make the time to do the practice problems and see her during office hours; there shouldn't be any reason why you don't pass. She's a marvelous professor and an amazing person
She's definitely better than all the other professors at NOVA. After getting a C in 231, I was determined to find a good professor and I'm glad I chose her. She does has flaws such as going over material super fast. She went over the final chapter on the last day before the final. Becuz of that I did horrible in the exam but still ended up with a B
Upon taking professor Stantcheva I was skeptical because of the different and mixed reviews I was seeing. However, professor Stantcheva was the easiest and most reasonable grader I have had. She does not take the time to teach you things that will not help you in the real world. Her test are reasonable and easy if you study the practice given.
Professor Stantcheva knows the subject but she doesn't know how to teach. Uses power points that are not helpful. If you take her, be ready to teach yourself and use extra resources because sometimes the material that she explained it not clear. Double my time and effort to get a good grade.
Not sure how to say this without sounding offensive. I have no idea how she has a high clarity rating. Im sure she is a great person, but she is by far one of the most ineffective college professors Ive ever had. literally, one-quarter of the students dropped the class even after the census date passed.
She has flaws, such as going over material super fast, but that's due to the nature of the course. Knowledgeable in her field and willing to help. Has online review sessions outside of class to go over questions before the test. Loves going on tangents about physics in life but keeps it engaging. Partial credit is a blessing! 10/10 would take again
She doesn't put a question on the tests that has not been done in the online quizzes or in class problem solving. Class notes are posted online and there is no "homework" other than online quizzes which are short. This class is for you if you're a good test taker and fast learner! Otherwise you will be doing individual work for no added grade.
I had Physics I with her and she's been the best physics professor I've taken since high school. She's incredibly funny and interacts with students a lot, gives many practice problems, and explains concepts very well. Her coursework isn't too difficult as long as you make sure to do at least a few practice problems with your friends after classes:)
Take her! I'm pretty sure she is the best phy prof at NOVA. Her exams were very similar to quizzes
I took this professor online zoom meetings. She teaches in a way that makes it easy for students to understand. It will be hard to fail this class. There are many mini assignments that will always help your grade. She wants students to comprehend the material rather than just getting a good grade! Best physics teacher out there!
In summary: she is very knowledgeable, goes way too fast when explaining things and can be disorganized, SHE DOES NOT LECTURE, she posts videos for every subject with everything you need to know and then you do quizzes and she solves them in class. SUPER LENIENT GRADING. Quizzes were past/fail, lots of filling with easy projects. Super reachable.
She is a pretty good professor but her course is sometimes vague. She recorded videos for you to watch, but youre usually going to need to look at outside sources to understand the material. Very test heavy, about 5 a week but they are usually short and easy, you can expect the same kind of questions in exams. Sometimes not clear, might be an issue
Prof Stantcheva is brilliant, she posts prerecorded videos for students to view them and then try out the practice problems. Class is reserved for summaries and questions regarding the material in the lectures. Theres a lot of hw but it helps you for the tests and your overall grade. Don't slack off!
Assigned a large number of smaller things instead of a few big things. Pretty solid lecturer overall, does have a bit of an accent. Could be a little snarky but really not that much. Tests were not that difficult if you followed along in class.
Just don't take her, I stressed out the whole semester cause of this class. It was tough, don't think about it! Her class is not easy.
An intelligent professor who cares about her students. She DOES NOT give lectures. Her classes are for discussion, homework problems, and for her to go through and summarize formulas, important topics etc. There were prerecorded videos we had to watch to learn the material. She is very nice, so ask when you need help. Tests were fairly easy.
The professor has an engaging teaching style, though the class can be challenging. Utilizing resources like unstuck AI, along with diligent studying, can really help navigate the course.
