she has very good teaching technique! It's not boring class but you have to do lots of group participation. Lab work requirements and everyday assigments and lots of journal writings. she's fair in giving grades.
She is extremely unhelpful. She will not acsept any late work, she did not say a thing that can help you. You feel like you're back in middle school where the teacher does't do anything new, and she never reads what you write.But there is a BIG PLUS- you can BS your way to an A.

this class is easy. All work is moderate. Nothing is challenging. She is very lenient. Very nice. Very clear. The grading is ackward. You have to attend reading lab. Thats lame. Its worth half of your whole grade. wasted my time. I thought it was a class you have to take. recommended? (neutrual)
Her class is very easy. As long as you do all the homework assignments and the lab you will definitely get an A. Don't skip any of the journals because they count a lot. Totally recommend this teacher because she is extremely easy. As long as you do all ur hw and ur LAB work ON TIME then u'll be fine. I guaranteed u can get an easy A on her class. Although her teaching technique is a lil too elementary but at the same time you'll also meet other ppl. GREAT TEACHER!!
You would enjoy the class a lot and find it pretty easy if you do all the homework, attend class on time and turn in everything on time. She is pretty strick about people who turn in stuffs in LATE. Even just 2 mins-late. Overal, she is a good teacher.
She is an ok teacher. Not hard to get an A. Just do all the homework, and lab works. Be careful in reading, some questions are not easy. But, she is very nice~ You will be fine in her class.
This is my FAVORITE teacher. I had her at West Los Angeles College a while back and went looking for her here to rate her. She makes you think and I learned so much from her about putting ideas together. Really cares for her students and has a great sense of humor. You can get an A really easy!!!

this teacher has no idea how to teach! she puts students in groups so she can take a break. she doesn't care about the lab hrs. or students. all she does is complain how tired she is; than stay home,lady!don't ever dare ask her questions! she will roll her eyes and tell you nothing.she should find another job,'cause teaching is not her calling.
She discriminates students. she seems nice to those of who she thinks are smart & to Armenians, but she is mean to the rest of her students. She wants all the students to be at the same level. She doesn't care if you were born in US or in forein country and how long you've been here. If she doesn't like you, she will keep picking on you for nothing

She was not ****!!! I can tell you one thing, I'm not Armenian and I still got a very good grade. All you have to do is pay attention, do your journals/classwork, and write the essays. Because it was 1A, you can get help from the lab. She is such a good teacher, who knows what she's doing. I would highly recommend her.
She is very good teacher. She will not give you an A for doing nothing. You need to work hard because there are lots of assignments. After all you WILL see improvements. She is very orginezed and has exellent method. Highly recommended!
Relies on favoritism a lot, as well as class participation. She grades you based on whether she likes you or not. She doesn't really lecture, which is good. Lots of group work, journals kept. Really vague on what essays should be about & what she's looking for, & then proceeds to tear them apart. She rambles on too much about her "extravagant life"
She does depend on favoritism a lot but as long as you pay attention in class and show up on time you would make a good impression. She's also very passionate about her teaching and makes class fun with the group work so it's easy to make friends and not fall asleep.

She's very biased in her grading, which is unfair. I got perfect scores (50/50) on quizzes before I repeatedly yawned in class. She glared at me. Then I got C's and D's on quizzes afterwards even though the quality of answers stayed the same.
She does have favorites. She's nice but can be strict. It is a lot of reading especially if you take her in winter or summer. In class timed essays and take home essays. Lots of group work and you have to keep a journal. Just dont miss class.

Most unhelpful professor I have ever had. Has favorites and grades on how much you kiss up to her. The class was a waste of time and money! I learned nothing!!
Surenyan is one of the worst instructors. she doesn't know what she teaches and all class activities are worthless that does not help you advance. your grade will depend on her mood. if she doesn't like you, it will be a hard course. she power-trips alot.
i'm really surprised what some people are saying about Ms surenyan! i took a class with her last spring and was a wonderful experience.. she's so organized,likes her work and keeps encouraging students, has a great sense of humor and u never get bored in her class! i really like the way she teach..
not recommended for every student . u have to try hard to be her favorites in order to get a good grade. she is somewhat biased. some of the quizzes r from online sources. have a horrible experiences throughout the whole semester. one thumb down :(
She is very nice and a good teacher. She does not pick favorites, she just does not like smart mouths or people that think that they know everything (I mean who does??). If you are responsible with doing your hw and try your best in class she will help you as much as she can.

She was my first college professor and I liked her. Really funny and her choices of text books are superb. Really helped me to improve my writing. Few quizes, 4 essays, and a final essay. Her grading was pretty fair. I got an A in her class. If you are seeking for an actual education and some fn along with it..I think she is the way to go..
Mrs. Surenyan's class is pretty fun. She talks a lot.. but it's usually funny. Text books are required. She uses them everyday. The quiz's and tests are really easy. There is lab work which is the reading center, a lot of work, but very easy. She's a pretty visual person. She's not hard at all. Just listen and do your homework. :)
Prof. Surenyan expects a lot from her students and any excuses (emergency or not) are not accepted. She is VERY big on attendance, so if your the type to cut class avoid at all costs. She was a really great teacher. She explains very clearly and detailed. There is a lot of lab work but they are easy. And if you read and do your homework, passing the class would be easy.
she's a nice teacher and not that tough in grading.. really helps a lot too.. just do the work... and read the assigned book.. the books isn't that hard either... so it's pretty cool
THis professor was not that hard in the lecture;however, she was picky for the thing that she had required in class such as folder, staple.. For the grade,you have to try your best in the lab because it worths 40% of your grade.Attending and participation were important also.
She is Ok.Got an A.Be serious about the attendence and hand the homework.For most of HW, she will give you full score as long as you have something on it.Several quizzes,only worth about 5 points each.Go to classes on time.She collects HW at the very beginning of classes.If you are late, you can't turn in HW and lose points.

If you are good essay writer, taking her class should be fine. But dont expect to learn anyhting about effective writing. She gives you comments but never tells you how to do better.
This teacher is the worst and i dont usually say that about anyone!! she always goes off topic throws tennis balls at you with her eyes CLOSED and gives you stupid topics for essays... she also loves to grade you based on your group performace and the groups arent always the best..
Had her class last year as my first english class. I did not like her at all. She seemed very rushed and just wanted to get out of class as soon as possible. Did not help students when they asked for help but rather tell them to reread the section. If you're good at kissing up and good at essay writing then this class is for you
This teacher is a joke, she seems to never know what she is talking about and her grading seems to have no logic to it at all. If you're a ditzy girl who wants to talk about shoes you may learn something from her class but otherwise avoid.

Constantly talks about food and her lack competence in modern technology. Will not recommend under any desperation or circumstance.
I will always remember her willingness to help me during my time of need. I have learned more from her than from any teacher I have ever had. She has very special skills to explaining things that is easy for me to understand. Not everyone has such a gift.

Very easy to get along with. Won't always necessarily go out of her way to help but is always more than willing if the stuent takes the initiative to ask for help. The work is not hard at all, very straightforward.

I took her class in the fall. She's a really cool teacher. She made the class fun. She an approachable person. Just take her class you won't regret it.
Teacher did not know the material, and could not learn the material. Students challenging her statements using direct quotes from the text book were belittled and humiliated. Her answers to questions would change by week making all tests a guessing game. If you are intelligent and can learn, DO NOT GO NEAR THIS TEACHER. Was the cause of major rage.
Nice enough and expectations are clear, just not a great instructor. Mis-interpreted the pivotal ending of our class novel which is weird because it was a critical reading class. The students had to explain what had actually happened which made the class discussion a completely moot point! Nice person, not great teacher.
When asked if she would review my thesis for the research paper, she refused.She told one student "no one cares what you think" when he tired to give an opinion.She is a disorgainzed hot mess.She seemed unstable and depressed.If you want consitency and predictability, do not take her class.Thank God another instructor is finally teaching this class
She dresses pretty and like to share her experiences with students. She's an easy grader on writings and all her quizzes and tests are fairly easy. You don't have to attend classes but you'll miss a lot of group works. She's depressed especially when people are late or ask her some DUMB questions. I like her class and I think she's very nice though
Great professor. She is funny, nice and she dresses very nice. She may be just a litlle arrogrant but it's funny. Discussion on our readings are relevant and help us think critically and gives us perspective on not only the reading but also in real life. She's a good prof
Good prof. She reads her ratings so I'll try to be politically correct here :) forces us to think critically a lot (which is good) but sometimes lack in helpfulness. She is an easy grader if u folo her instructions specifically and write clearly and back up ur arguments strongly. Overall, recommended. Don't be scared of the low easiness rating
Doesnt really teach literally, more of the professor that makes you think "critically". She likes to repeat herself and go off topic, trying to relate it to class discussions. It can get a bit annoying, in the sense that were always wrong, and shes right. Overall she will never give you the answers, you have to figure it out on your own.
MS.SURENYAN IS A GREAT TEACHER ,YOU CAN TELL SHE CARES BECAUSE IF NOT, SHE WOULDNT ASSIGN ANY HOMEWORK,TEST,OR QUIZES.I THINK MOST OF THE STUDENTS THAT GAVE HER A LOW RATING DID NOT EVEN FINISH THIS CLASS BECAUSE AT FIRST SHE SEEMS A BIT STRICT ONLY TO SHOW SHE DOES NOT LET THE STUDENTS TEST HER WATERS BUT THROUGH OUT TIME YOU REALIZE SHES GREAT!

Always bring your material to class and don't be late! She hates when people are late but she never takes attendance. She knows you show up by doing journal entries in class and marking them. 4 essays, 1 final essay, 1 research paper. It's better than other eng teachers! Worked Hard for an A and LEARNED ALOT, 2 in class essay, 2 take home essay, 1 research paper - 1 oral presentation, couple of easy quizes on mla & book, 1 final in class essay. she wants us to write like a pro and introduced us with fallacies (eng 1b stuffs). fun discussion n lecture, fair grader and dont come to class late! read alot n u'd be fine
Easy class during the summer. Got an A. Lowest grade on my essay was an 85. Did I learn a lot? Not at all. The class is pretty easy. Read book and do group questions. Even if you don't read the book, you can guess on the questions and you still get full credit. She goes off topic so much and talks about useless things. She always repeats herself.
I must admit she's strict. If you think about strict professors are the one's who want to see there students succeed in life. Her way of teaching is clearly understandable. Ms. Surenyan is a good English instructor.

She intimidated me at first, but she ended up being so fun and nice. She is strict but the class is easy just do your lab work and you'll pass. Also,study for the tests that are sure simple.Great teacher, patient and entertaining.Really enjoy how she incorporates teaching English and morals, quality teacher.Do all your work, & study, and voila A+.
One of the best professors at PCC! She literally hates when a student is late, so DON'T BE LATE! Do your hwk, bring your materials & participate in class. Get her to know you and you'll be fine. An easy A if you do your work. (obviously)

She is very good teacher. I learn a lot from her even though I did not expect that I would learn something from a reading class. Some people would think she is kind of rude, but I think that she is just straight forward. Some of her tests are quite easy, some are not. However, you would not get any trouble to get A if you do the work.
She's an awesome teacher. I don't get why people feel negatively about her. Took her a few years back and lessons from life that I learned in her course still pop up in my head.
Her lectures are entertaining, fun, and resourceful and she brightened it up with outside videos and articles pertaining to the topics. The lab is awful and I had issues with satisfying the time requirement, even though I got a 93 on the whole lab. That is of course unrelated to her actual class, and I would absolutely take another course of hers.
Had her for Eng 100 and I liked the class. She's very strict with the work that she assigns and attendance she definitely expects the most from all her students. She'd come to class in a good mood usually and always gave good feedback on our essays which I liked. I would take her class again and the class discussions were always interesting.

This woman is inappropriate with personal stories. She loves talking about facebook and her sewing machines and its so weird. She also tries to build up confidence but does it in a blunt way and sometimes does it in front of people. Really strict on the attendance and only allows the certain amount of absences. Would never take her ever again.
It's my second time to take her English class. Although she is a serious professor, she takes responsible for her students to get ready for next level of English class. But you should come to class everyday and upload homework on time. She would like to help you if you ask questions, I love her so muuuuch.

She only talks about her life during class but her rubrics are clear and a fair grader. I wasn't really good at writing yet I got good grades. Just make sure you have a clear points on your essay and she'll definitely give you an A or a B. Also, never come late or be absent.

If you go into her class wanting to learn how to think and write critically, then she is for you. If you go in with the mindset of doing the bare minimum, then you likely won't pass. I was already good in english but after doing every assignment and all the reading I feel she has made me a must stronger writer, researcher, and critical thinker.
She always disrespects the students that she doesn't like. if she gave you a dirty look from the first week (Girls), then let me tell you that you're gonna fail. PLEASE PLEASE do not take her, she's the worst.

Took her online course during Winter. It was pretty straight forward. Read the chapters from the book, write a paper, take a quiz, and do a discussion every week. Since it was a 6 week course, assignments were due every weekend. Papers were roughly 3-4 pages. Final paper was min 8(?) pages. Quizzes were multiple choice with 2 written responses.
i personally liked her a lot. she genuinely wanted all of us to succeed and when it came to essays she's always give everyone feedback and tell us how to fix what majority got wrong. she has personally helped me too. one time we were put into break out rooms over essay topics and i was by myself and she offered to stay with me and help me if needed
Not very clear in her instructions and doesn't have a clear grading rubric. Makes you buy the book she wrote, but I took her class online and didn't really use it. Answers emails very fast, but never answered my questions directly. Many spelling errors in her instructions, but it is still pretty straightforward.
