She has no idea how to teach: no relevant examples, no problems solved in class, reads off slides! The class is not that difficult, but she makes it extremely awful. Also her accent is so strong you cannot understand simple words such as "TV" when she talks. Unless you're planning on studing with the book alone, don't take her: lectures are useless
Can't understand anything she says. And she can't understand anything we say! It was a mistake, joining this class.
Worst professor I've ever had. Only a couple weeks in and 3/4 of the students no longer come to lecture. Her English is 90% incomprehensible. She's a sweet lady but completely incompetent as a professor. Do whatever you can not to be in this section unless you are fine teaching yourself the material from the textbook or have previously taken Econ.
Incompetent and impossible to understand. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Impossible to understand, this prof will only confuse you more than you already might be. It's no use going to class because you will never learn anything. A sweet woman, but don't take her class if you want to have any understanding of managerial economics
She clearly means well, but only go to class if you want a good laugh. She is impossible to understand. Only take this class if you can learn from the textbook
Impossible to understand. She means well, you can see it, but she doesn't have the level of English required to lecture a class of almost 200 students.Avoid at all costs!
Does not respond to emails. Does not teach. Should not be a professor at McGill. Incomprehensible. Future students -don't take her, unless you speak Taweewanese
Don't go to class. Definitely not worth it.
The nicest most helpful teacher in the econ department. She wants to help her students do well
She is wonderful. Definitely take this class. She is seriously an inspiration and makes me want to pursue further courses in finance.
A really great course. All the material is on the slides so you don't really need to go to class. Easiest A I have ever got. Her accent is rough but you get used to it. People on here are just bitter.
Such a sweet lady! She might be shy and a little hard to understand at times but she will go out of her way to help her students and she wants everyone to do well. Our essays she promised no one would get below an 80. Such a nice woman!
As much as she wants to do well, its not the case..... you won't understand anything in her class compared to the book...
I'm sure she would be an awesome Managerial Economics teacher back in Thailand, but if the students are not able to understand the professor, we might as well not have gone to university and only bought the textbook... Textbook is your only source of studying material...
Absolutely no need to attend lectures as her powerpoint are on point. probably the most helpful prof of all time if you go to her office hours. Extremely hard to understand, which is kind of sad as you can tell that she knows A LOT in economics. That being said, I would recommend her!
Not much to say. she is a kind woman but her english is really really difficult to understand... Most of people don't attent her lectures.(I didn't). However, the course is easy, you can study with the slides and the textbook.
Do not choose this prof. She clearly lacks clarity, you will not understand a thing. Her English is very poor and she does not know how to explain the concepts. She does not reply to emails and fails to prepare students for exams. I don't understand how a university like McGill can have such a bad professor.
the prof is not clear while teaching. goes extremely fast in class is also a hard grader. there are much better economics classes at mcgill
An easy A if you maximize the use of her office hours coz she's VERY HELPFUL. She will be patient with you until she makes sure you understand the concepts.
Prof. Sidthidet is a genuinly nice professor - and cares for her students. Her class is structured and the material is on point, although her strong accent in English sometimes makes her lectures hard to follow. In any case, you should visit her during her office hours, she will take the time to explain things clearly until you're comfortable!
Well-meaning professor and very helpful, but her lectures jump around seemingly without logic and it is difficult to ask questions in class because she doesn't fully understand what you are asking. Interesting material, but I stuck to the textbook.
Sweet and very helpful professor. Unfortunately English isn't her strength but she really cares for her students. Don't buy the textbook, she puts all in her slides! Midterm was relatively easy but compensated with hard final. However, she curves up the class average to 75% to give everyone the highest mark! Stick to her notes and you'll do great!
Lots of bcom finance students in the class this year. The average is high so no curve up for the final.
A good and decent prof. I would take a course with her again.
impossible to understand
Does not focus on the subject. Very unclear accent.
She is incredibly difficult to understand
Rien bité a ce qu'elle dit
she has a really unclear accent but apart from that is a really good prof really interesting class
She is only for those who prefer studying outside of classes because the teacher is incomprehensible. You have to rely on the textbook and the questions she post for practice to pass. Getting a high grade is impossible with her as the questions in the final are from the material that seemed least important.
I took Econ 304 with Dr. Sidthidet in winter 2015. Dr Sidthidet is an excellent professor. Her slides are incredibly well structured, and she hands back marks remarkably quickly. She is extraordinarily kind, patient, and approachable. I remember her spending an inordinate amount of time patiently helping me with the course material in office hours.
Very poor at conveying information and examples to the class. In the most respectful way possible, her accent is almost incomprehensible and it is really frustrating; it makes the course harder than it should be.
I just LOVE this lady soooooo much. She's one of the nicest profs I've met in McGill. Yes her accent might be difficult to understand at first, but gradually you will get used to it. The point is that she's so responsible and caring. She loves u asking questions and she really wants all her students to get good grades.
Literally learned everything in this class on my own. By far, worst prof I've had at McGill. Accent is too strong, you won't understand a word from what she's saying. Absolutely avoid taking her.
She does have a heavy accent and won't answer your questions properly during class. BUT! Her slides are very clear and well explained. She wants her students to pass, so go see her during her office hours if you have questions on your assignment (she gives you all the answers). You'll have a good mark as long as you do her suggested exercises!
One of the greatest professors ever - so kind, caring, and willing to help. Slides are very helpful. Always accessible outside of class! This makes a very big difference especially for the Managment core classes with 700 some people writing each exam.
Ok, maybe her accent is difficult to understand, but honestly all you need to know is on the slides it's not even that important to go to class. Midterm and assginments were very fair, and she helps a lot when you have questions. She is a good prof, and certainly not a harsh grader
Amazing
Good prof. Fair midterm and final. Clear about what was included in the exams and what was not. Her slides are sufficient to get an A in this course.
Highly related homeworks and practice problems!
A really good professor. explains everything very clearly. She's always willing to help.
Midterm is multiple choice, and some of them are directly taken from practice tests posted on MyCourses. Her accent may be hard to follow, but you will get use to it. Attendance is not mandatory and you can keep up with only the powerpoints (still show up from time to time tho). She is really sweet and willing to give 100% if worthy of it.
A very nice and clear lecturer!
Taweewan is the sweetest. The midterm was similar to her practice exam and the final were the exact same exercises in her lectures and Q/A. It is definetly an easy A if you practice all the problems she gives and understand them. For assignments, she will give the answers in her office!
Love her so much she's so nice and gives the best advice for exams !!!
Very clear lectures & Fair exams. To get a good grade, just go through the assignments and problem sets. Would definitely recommend!
Decent lecturer (hard to understand) and good in-class examples. Midterm was fair and assignments are a grade booster. She's helpful but don't even bother studying for the final, average is always under 60 and it requires endless hours of studying to pass.
Super sweet teacher! Hard to understand in class, but you can learn everything from the powerpoint and do super well in the class. Most importantly, if you go to her office ours, she writes out every answer for you and you can get 100% assignment average. Overall, a really easy course, and she wants you to do well.
She is a hidden gem. Just go see her for any problem you might have with the assignments and project and you will be fine. The people who complained about the final simply didn't study. If you do all the problems and examples she gives you are assured a good grade.
I heard so many negative things about her but I have to disagree with them. Though she has a strong accent her lectures are ON POINT. Don't need to open the book for an A, she prepares you extremely well as long as you do the problems she posts for you. SUPER SWEET, very helpful in her office she will legit give you the answers. love her!
I love her so much. Super helpful after class and during office hours. Her powerpoint are the clearest i've seen from any prof and i didn't even need to read the book. Amazing person.
She's very sweet and accessible outside of class. Easy to excel in the assignments and group project. Even the midterm was very fair. BUT BEWARE OF THE FINAL. It's worth 50% and is the hardest final I've ever written. 39 pages!! No way it's comparable to any other Man Econ prof's exam.
Taweewan is a really good teacher. She is always available outside of class and will take the time to answer all your questions. Yes she has an accent but you get use to it. People who are complaining about the final exam simply didn't study enough, because it is the same thing as the exercises in her lecture slides.
This class is an easy A. She has an accent that can be putting off in the beginning but you will get used to it. Midterm is MCQ's and is super easy. Final is a little hard but everything you need to know is in her slides. Study the slides and do the examples in the slides. There is no reason not to get an A. Go to office hours if you need help.
Professor Taweewan is honestly one of the best prof I've had at McGill. Yes she has a big accent but she makes sure that you succeed in her class. Just work and do the practice questions and exams and you will have a good (very good) grade. Her assignments and group project are made for you to have the highest grade possible. Caring, fast response.
Not to be rude but she's incomprehensible. Slides are great though.
Omg Taweewan is actually amazing. I barley ever went to class, and just read the slides and went to her office if i had questions. She is available, and she actually cares for her students! The final is not that hard if you study, it is long though. Overall I would truly reccomend her. Easy A. (Man econ)
She's so nice, fun to talk to and explains the material very well. She is always available if you need help. Her slides are amazing. If you are taking Man Econ, you have to take her!!
Her slides and lectures are very good. Its very easy to learn from her. As long as you keep up with the class, you'll understand and master the concepts well enough to get a good grade. She's also very kind and accessible outside class if you need extra help. Would take her again for sure.
Very fair teacher. Slides are very clear and lectures are OK, but she is very accessible outside of class. She responds to emails quickly and is helpful and gives lots of detail in her answers. I did not like the subject, but it was manageable because she's straight forward and very fair. The final was difficult and long, but it's curved.
Very organized and clear lectures, easy to follow and post all the recordings at the beginning of the semester so you can study at your own pace. The midterm is pretty straightforward but the final covers a lot more material which makes it a bit harder. Very accessible and reactive prof (answers emails in 30 minutes), a real pleasure for the course
Great Prof! She posted prerecorded lectures when the semester started. Very easy to follow.
Taweewan is one of the best profs you can have. She answers emails within minutes, will correct early assignments before the due date, and is always available to help. She puts in so much work to help students do well. Exams are 100% representative of her practice problems.
Ms. Sidthidet was a great professor for MGCR 293, and gave detailed feedback right away. However it was a difficult course to take online, and I did most of my learning from the lecture slides - these were really fantastic and helped to understand a lot of material.
She is the worst prof at Desautels. If you don't have any prior econ knowledge you are gonna struggle a lot. Don't even bother to attend her lectures, rather watch youtube videos. She doesn't provide any conceptual knowledge. If you had econ classes previously then the slides will make sense but otherwise not. But responsive towards email.
She is a great prof. Always is super helpful when you go to her with questions. Hard class but easy to do well if you put in the effort.
Taweewan is by far the best prof I've had at McGill! Don't let bad ratings fool you she is AMAZING. Super clear about concepts and grading and always available during office hours. Seriously she will do the assignments for you and explain everything step by step. There is 0 reason to not get an A in this course even if you have 0 Econ knowledge!
She is literally the best professor I have ever taken. I did not attend a single class but ended up with an A-. She is very helpful with the assignments literally giving the answers for you. Her midterm and finals are exactly like the practice exam she posts and its very easy to score in this course
Never attended class but still ended up with an A. If you have any econ background from high school this course should be a breeze. Dont need a textbook just go through her slides and do only the questions on them.
My favorite teacher this year!! Class definitely requires effort and practice but Taweewan is by far the best for MGCR 293. She answers emails within the day and is super helpful with questions on the topics. She really cares and wants all her students to succeed. I attended every class a which is necessary as it moves fast and can be a complex.
Taweewan was extremely accessible outside of class and helpful during office hours/after class. She gave plenty of feedback and took the time to explain concepts to you individually if you don't understand things. She was willing to offer extra credit if you showed improvement. Very responsive to emails! She isn't great at explaining big concepts.
Absolutely take her for Econ! So sweet and really cares about her students. She is always accessible outside of class to answer questions. Material can be tough but show up to all her lectures and you will be fine. She explains everything super clearly and prepares you very well for both midterm and final!
Taweewan is one of the best profs at McGill. She cares so much for her students. When she gives an assignment, do it fast and send it to her by email. She will correct it and show you exactly how to do it. Guaranteed 100 for the two assignments. The tests however are pretty hard. She prepares you well and the practice tests come VERY close
Hard to understand and makes things a lot more complicated than they need to be. If you're not a math person, she will make managerial econ virtually impossible. Would purposely stay away from taking her class. She does care about her students and seems like a really nice person though.
She gives you a lot of opportunities to get good grades (the exam is exactly the same thing as in class). Answers email really fast and is easily accessible outside of class. Overall really nice!
Extremely nice and cares about students' learning. Her lectures can be hard to follow but her slides are amazing and all you really need to learn the content. Do and redo the practice exams to study for the midterm and final. Professor was regularly available to answer questions about the assignments with students and answered emails promptly.
One of the best profs at Desautels. Very responsive with emails and corrects assignments before due dates. Lectures can be hard to understand at first, but the more you practice and do the examples, it's very understandable. Midterm is like the practice exam. Final was harder, but do all the exercises that she gives and the formula you saw once too
Serious and caring teacher who can sometimes lack eloquence
Lovely person, correct our homeworks & write down the right ones step by step! Really really patience :D
Lectures and Slides very Clear. Prof very efficient. She's available outside of class and is not here to put bad grades. She helps a lot regarding assignmments. Mid Term and Final Exam are a bit hard but fair. Do all the exercises and assignments she gives you, you'll be ready for the exams.
Professor Taweewan Sidthidet was amazing! She explained concepts very well and provided many practice problems that were almost exactly like the final and midterm exams. She was also very accessible by email and cares about all her students. Her lectures covered all the content needed but were content heavy, I would definitely recommend attending.
You can tell that Taweewan really wants her students to succeed. If you attend class, she provides everything you need to feel confident completing the assignments and the midterm. Her lectures and slides can be a bit difficult to follow at times, but if you do her suggested questions after class it all comes together.
This is the teacher you want for Manag Econ, she's literally so sweet and always smiling. She's so organized and her lectures are clear-- you can not show up to class and understand everything! She's super helpful, has a lot of practice problems and midterm/final practices (learn them by heart it's literally the same questions) Don't buy the book
Professor Taweewan is so sweet and smiley :) Her slides are clear, simple to understand. She includes many examples and assigns practice problems, which are very helpful for assignments and prepare for exams. The sample exams are the same format as the real exams so do the sample many times and you will be fine!
Once you get accustomed to her accent, you'll see she's fair. Slides are clear and doesn't require a textbook. Finish both assignments before the deadline so you can go see her for corrections and an 100. Midterm (all MC) and final were hard to finish on time, mix of math + theory. Do all homework questions and practice exams AMAP to study.
Very clear slides and well explained concepts. Provides a lot of help for assignments if needed and her practice exams are very helpful to revise.
Taweewan is actually awesome. SUBMIT THE ASSIGNMENTS EARLY AND SHE'LL GIVE YOU THE CORRECT ANSWERS PLUS HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS. Exams are tough but fair, make sure your work is organized and you'll be good.
Gives so many practice questions, if you do them all, the exams are so straightforward! Lots of math
People who say she's bad just lack of basic math skills. Taweewan is the best econ prof you'll ever have !
Final exam was harder than the midterm. Not a fan of multiple choice exams that are weighted heavily in math-based classes. She takes too long to return grades for MC exams considering it's a scantron. It's almost next semester and there's still no grade on MyCourses yet for the final exam (which occured way before the holidays).
Best teacher ever! U can easily get A if u go to the lecture and do the Q&A after each class. (it doesn't take long time)
Mrs. Sidthidet is a great teacher, though I needed some time to get used to her accent. Make sure to submit assignments early and redo the practice exams multiple times. Overall, it's a very easy course. Also, she usually ends her classes 20 minutes in advance.
She is passionate about what she does, slides have all the information you need, but midterm and final are very hard, and she's not available outside of class she just emails back with whats already been posted to Mycourses.
Her slides are very helpful. The theory is very clearly laid out in them. She has an accent that makes her somewhat difficult to understand during lectures. BEWARE of the final. It is extremely hard.
Great prof, her lectures are clear + organised. As long as you follow along in class and understand, you will do great. She obviously cares about her students, and wants them to do their best (e.g.lets us submit our assignments early to check them. Practice midterm and final are v useful, and as long as you practice hard enough, should be good.
Just do her practice questions and you will get a very good grade.
Taweewan highlights the key info needed to excel in her midterms, which closely mirror her Q&A and practice materials. The final is a bit trickier, but her slides are clear, and she explains all the steps for each exercise. She does go through lectures quickly, but you will be able to adjust with time.
Professor Taweewan is super sweet and her lectures are captivating. I've learned a great deal with her as my intro to econ professor. Her midterm and final exams are not hard, but has many questions for the amount of time. It's not hard to do well in this class as long as you do all the suggested practice questions and understand the concepts.
Taweewan Sidthidet was a great prof, at the beginning her accent takes some getting used to, besides that she grades you on two assignments which are easy to get 100 because you can send them early for corrections. Her exams are multiple choice, redo all practice questions and practice finals multiple times. Overall, take her if you can!
This prof is well-organized which really makes the class easier, all chapters have assigned questions and solutions. You can also get your assignments graded before official submission which is a blessing. The midterm is also very easy and all the questions are taken from slides or practice documents, the final exam is harder though.
She can be hard to understand sometimes, and she explains the material in a way that makes it seem harder than it actually is. Her slides and practice questions are perfect, and they are all you need to do well in the exams.
Professor Sidthidet is well-organized and passionate about the material. Her clear lectures and practice exams are very helpful. Attendance is key, and unstuckstudy is a great study tool alongside the course resources.
Sweetest prof ever, lectures are very fast paced but everything is well explained. Slides and examples are super helpful. Gives lots of practice problems and she specifically tells you the problems that will be tested. Very approachable both during and outside of class. I did hear that the final is more challenging, though.
A very sweet person, seems like she really knows her stuff and wants you to succeed. She's good at giving feedback, replies to emails quickly, and though her lectures can be monotonous at times, she really tries hard to help. Would take her again!
BEST TEACHER EVER AND SO SWEET!!!! nicest prof i've ever had at McGill and the midterm was just like the practice - she is the best take her!!!
She was very nice and accessible outside of class. Her lectures are very clear and gives you lots of resources to study from, which are similar to the exams. Overall a great professor who clearly knows what she's doing.
Lectures are content heavy, but her slides are super detailed and the Q&A questions are really helpful. She often goes fast which could make it hard to follow if you haven't consulted the material before class. Assignments and midterm are easy and more than fair, but the final is very challenging even if you are comfortable with the material.
She gives you all the resources to succeed; the midterm (just like practice) and assignments are very doable, the final is really hard every year. The practice questions are very helpful alongside the slides which can feel very content heavy. Overall good prof, wants to see students succeed, open to helping, very kind.
