Although i am very excited to get into teaching. This class has proved to me that not everything in teaching is fun. Sitting there everyday and listening to her go on and on about the website is more then i can handle. Teach me please do not just show me how to be taught on the internet
I think her class was very eye opening to a lot of things. I think as a future educator you shoud definitly sign up for this class with her. This is a very important class to take and she is a wounderful teacher to take it with.
Very helpful. This class will not give away any grades, you actucally have to work for them, but getting an 'A' is possible for anyone who trys
Tawn is a tough teacher because she actually leads you to think for yourself. This class was one of the best classes I have ever taken. There was a lot of homework in this class - it isn't for wimps to be sure. If you want to be a true educator this lady is one of the finest examples of teaching excellence.
I think this year she just had too much going on outside of class. She was usually late, but she tried her best to run class as smoothly as possible. Tawn gives out a bit of work, but as long as you're mindful and follow the guidelines, you'll get full credits. Some days, it felt more as if she was explaining how to use the program for our work.
Tawn definetly taught me alot and i got my money worth. However, it was very frustrating at times. I felt that when she gave assignments they were vague on requirements...but she graded them hard. Overall she had a hard time admitting she was wrong and on a personal level there was alot of conflict between her and the students.
This teacher is awful, she is completely closed minded, doesn't want to hear any opinion she doesn't agree with. She gives busy work that teaches you nothing, She gives about 5- 5 page papers that were only worth 10 points. This class was a joke, and she is a horrible teacher, Don't waste your time or money on this crazy close minded teacher.
Alot of work without reminders of due dates. I barely passed the class. She is nice, and i believe she is passionate about teaching, but does need to focus more on the class than the Future educators conference. I beleive she said she would not be working on the conference as much for 2007
this is a great class for those who are ready for it. be prepared to spend a lot of time outside class doing work and studying. you have to pay $50 for the online blackboard tool she uses to communicate with her students. the class is difficult and tawn is very personal with her students. she cares!
THIS CLASS WAS VERY INTERESTING AND HELPFUL AS A FUTURE EDUCATOR. SHE DOES HAVE TOO MUCH GOING ON OUTSIDE OF CLASS BUT SHE HANDLES IT VERY WELL. TAWN HAD A TON OF INFORMATION ABOUT HOW TO BE AN EFFECTIVE TEACHER. OVERALL SHE WAS HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE, SHE GRADES HARD BUT IF YOU TRY YOU WILL GET AN A IN THE CLASS.
TAWN, IS A WONDERFUL TEACHER, SHE GETS YOU EXCITED TO TEACH AND WANT TO BE A BETTER STUDENT AND FURTHER YOUR EDUCATION AFTER YOUR DONE YOUR DEGREE. SHE IS DOWN TO EARTH AND VERY APPROACHABLE WHEN YOU NEED HELP.
Great teacher! loved her. there was a lot of work with no reminders but it was still really easy. just do the work. and NO TEST!!!! no finals!!!!
Tawn is a very lovely person with a passion for teaching and her students. She knows how to convey information to students. There are a lot of assignments and deadlines that are NEVER brought up, I missed quite a few assignments because of that.
Great Teacher, lots of work but pay attention, when you get to ASU, you'll be glad you had her
I have had Tawn for two class now, edu 230 and edu 222, and I LOVE THIS WOMEN!!!!! She is so helpful and always willing to give anybody a second chance! there is a lot work but not too time consuming. and it is all stuff you will eventually have to do anyway, further down the road.
A lot of the things she "taught" us were not very useful except for creating a personal portfolio for our future teaching careers. everything else in the class was never discussed enough. she never told us what she expects she used technology for quizes and exams and that was the only useful thing about it. she doesn't tell you about anything going
She is nice and funny at times but she does pointless crap all the time, and she has favorites and its annoying. It's so much online work basically an online class, it has some good info but maybe try to find a better teacher but she isn't terrible.
I took this class a couple of semester ago and have never looked at the work she made us do. I thought taking the class was pointless. She always seemed lost and never mentioned when assignments were do. I am almost finished with Teaching degree and still think how she taught the class was pointless. Find a different teacher.
I truly admire this woman. If I could be half the teacher she is then I?m set. People seem to forget that we all in college. We are excepted to do work. There is a purpose for all her assignments. Yes, in the beginning of the semester when I saw the syllabus I thought she was just nuts but now that I have completed her class I?m glad I choose her c
Challenging course, but vital for upcoming teachers. If you put your all into this, you KNOW if you want or could be a teacher. Helpful professor, compassionate, and open-minded to voiced opinions. Don't be late to class, participate,do assignments and everything will work out! Some video's were boring though "debate" was fun. Real helpful woman!!
She is a very nice lady and lets you turn in late work..but a lot of pointless assignments...she is only focused on the portfolio she has you work on all semester... she never tells you when assignments are due just read your syllabus like a textbook thats the only way you know whats going on.
Took class online, It was her 1st online class and it was horrible. She was always late with grading responding to email. It did get better as the class went on with her responding but she never commented on anything. Very independent class. Easy A if you do the work.
Tawn is a nice lady but this was the worst taught class I've ever taken at MCC. 75% of assignments due aren't related to education nor are you reminded of, or even told when they are due. Must follow syllabus to pass this class. A lot of busy work. Most of the people in my class will agree with this rating. If you have a choice don't take herclass
Tawn... so bittersweet. I worked very hard and I got an A. I have a lot of respect for this teacher.. she is doing A LOT of work and so she expects it back from her students. Frustrating at times but in reality it was a great experience to be able to push myself to work harder and be more organized. FOLLOW THE SYLLABUS!!!
Tawn is an excellent professor! I really enjoyed her class and would gladly take another class of hers. She is really interested in getting the class involved within every lesson as much as possible. If you take her class though...READ THE SYLLABUS...she never tells you due dates so its up to you to check for them. Its all in there.
Tawn is a great teacher. She does expect you to work, but she also really cares about you and wants you to succeed in her class. She is full of great personal experiences she can relate to the class and really wants you to think about how you can incorporate mutlicultural education in your classroom.
Supposedly the Godzilla of education! But I have never met a more committed teacher in my life! Tawn's class was my third try at EDU 221 and I passed! Stick to the syllabus and don't miss the tests in webct!!!
great person, class was ok on content, a lot of busy work. follow syl and u will be fine. allows late work entire semester. very willing to work with a student. she is a little overbooked and not able to keep up with grades and assignments. keep all ur work to prove it was done. good class.
Tawn is extremely passionate about her job and always tries to make the class interesting. There is a lot of homework, mostly writing. Ridiculously easy final, all you have to do is show up. Lots of opportunities for extra credit.
Oh, where to begin. I absolutely hated this class. It was incredibly boring and we really didn't get into learning about other cultures. This really bothered me because I was hoping to go in and learn about how to deal with cultural issues within the classroom. It's hard to know what your grade is. Just turn everything in and you should be ok.
Tawn is very nice and very understanding. The class was fairly easy, however, she was not very organized. Her syllabus didn't match up with what we were doing in class. Half the class was lost the majority of the time, because assignments were not clear on what was required and when they were due.
Ms. Hauptli was an extremely nice and passionate teacher. My only problem with her was that she was not very clear about our assignment and I feel like I didn't learn very much from the class in general. The service learning changed my life though. I will always remember the time I had with the students I spent my time with.
Easy class, but her syllabus and assignments do not match up and she never responds to emails. I reached out to her multiple times and never received responses. The class is fine I learned a lot by doing the work but it is very unorganized.
I took her for two classes, and both of them were awesome. I learned a lot of useful information....she is all about preparing you for the REAL teaching world. Our assignments were useful such as resume, our educational philosophy, and the hands on 30 hours in a classroom. She really cares and is full of useful information she gives her students
She's a very nice woman but is very unorganized and doesn't really tell the class when assignments were due. It took me about two weeks to realize we had a couple assignments due that weren't even mentioned in the class. Overall, I'd give her a rating of 3/5 at best.
Tawn is very organized and an amazing professor if you are serious about your education of becoming a teacher take her class. Alot of work she wants to prepare for your future. Responds to e-mail s and will meet with you if you have questions or concerns.
Being ocd, and an organization freak, this class made me sick. Her 17 page syllabus was her bible. There was Assignment after assignment, stacked up on each other. And they all really didn't correlate. Barely any warning on when assignments were due, and what they were. You just had to kind of figure it out. Service learning made it worth it.
Tawn is a great teacher and is really passionate about what she does. I thought her class was a bit confusing though. She doesn't remind you when things are due. She just expects you to always check the syllabus. You definitely have to figure out a lot of the assignments on your own. Do all the HW and you will get an A. The group project sucks.
She is very unorganized. Assignments are stacked on top of each other, most of them you have to figure out yourself because they are confusing. She took months to grade assignments. I don't recommend taking her
Papers are due almost every week but you will not your grade back for a few weeks. Nice thing is that she accepts late work up to one week, and offers extra credit. Her answers are rarely what you are looking for. If you are not an organized person and can't do assignments without given any warning on when they are due, this prof. is not for you.
Tawn is an amazing lady but not such an amazing teacher. I enjoyed being in class most of the time, however, the work load was ridiculous. Her syllabus is her class bible and any due dates are in there. With that said, there are very few reminders when things are due because "it's in the syllabus". NEVER TAKE TWO OF HER CLASSES AT ONE TIME!
I loved Tawn as a person, and she was a good teacher and is passionate about what she is. But her syllabus is her bible and it can get very confusing at times when trying to keep up. The group project at the end of the semester killed me. There are tests every week and hw every week but she takes the entire semester to grade. 7.5/10 I would say.
Tawn is a great teacher just be prepared to do the work and you will do just fine. It's true the syllabus is bible, don't forget to check it and not do something. The assignments are clear and easy it's just a lot of work. If you are not a full time student and have a F/T job do not take 2 classes at same time. I took 230 n 221 together.
This was my first online class so it was an adjustment for me. Tawn was quickly available via email when I needed her and was very patient with my uncertainty and questions. I can tell that I would have enjoyed being a part of her in person class if I would have been able. Caring and understanding and passionate about education. Great Professor!
She's not very organized. Doesn't seem to really care to let you know about assignments until they are due the next day. There is so much busy work and I honestly haven't learned a single thing so far.
She has a lot going on, it takes a long time to get assignments graded and returned.
I enjoyed this class very much. Dr. Hauptli is always available for help . All it takes is a bit of communication. I really enjoyed her class. This class requires you to read the chapter each week, complete a quiz and do a couple assignments. Nothing to hard. As long as you do the assignments, and communicate when needed you'll be fine!
Good instructor, the syllabus can be confusing, the class is very informative and you leave with some good information.
She's a really nice person. The class itself is awesome, and I learned a ton. Even her teaching style is okay. But, she micromanages all the assignments, and the way she has everything laid out is SUPER confusing. Also, the syllabus is your best friend. If you have to take her, make a group chat with other students. It will be your lifeline.
She is a wonderful person but as a teacher shes tough. She's got a lot to teach you the class is fun but she does give out so many assignments so be prepared to work. None of them are difficult you HAVE to get them done though if not you WILL fall behind and end up failing the class. I never used the textbook, so save the money its super expensive!
Dr. Hauptli is an amazing person but she has a very specific way that she wants things done. If you don't participate in discussions she docks points. A lot of the assignments weren't explained very well and I kind of just had to guess on what to do. She's very nice though and it was a fun class!
Overall, this professor is amazing. There is a lot of engament involved from the students and she incorporates different learning styles.
Dr. Hauplti is awesome! I have really enjoyed her class. Its an online class so there are a few assignments and a weekly quiz. Nothing to hard. You must participate in the discussion board in order to get full points. Its not a hard class but you have to be committed to doing it. If you ask for help its right there. Shes awesome!
She is very unorganized. She has too many things going on. Takes forever to grade papers. Prepare to do a lot of work.
Tawn does not use canvas so all of our assignments and due dates were all over the place. She likes you to go by your syllabus but then changes it and doesn't tell you. Very unorganized and you'll wait like 2 weeks for your grades. Overall I think the class could've been good but she has too much going on where she doesn't know how to organize it.
Be prepared to learn a lot of information in a short time period.
She is the best professor
Extremely unorganized! You won't know what's going on in class because she doesn't even know! She doesn't have lesson plans and makes things up as she goes. She won't give you a direct answer and is way too vague. Prepare to be frustrated cause you'll never know your grade. She's a nice person and is passionate about her work, but too unorganized
Tawn is a sweet person, she really cares about teaching and her students. What is hard to get around is the disorganization which is solely from her taking on too much work. There are some really beneficial assignments in this class. One thing I did not like was the amount of "fluff" guest presentations. Overall, just stay organized.
Awful. She is very unorganized and has no clue what is going on in her own classroom. She is super vague in directions and does not take her students concerns seriously. She only tells you to go off the syllabus for due dates, but changes the syllabus dates without telling you. would never take any of her classes again.
As a professor, Dr Hauptlis way clearly does not work for most of the students attending her classes. She expects her students to figure things out by communicating and searching for answers which can be difficult for those that are not used to doing so. Dr. Hauptli, should demonstrate by examples everything she expects from students
I would never take her class again. She is very disrespectful, she doesn't care if you have special needs or not.
Tawn is a very great teacher, she is caring and nice, This is my first semester with her.
Tawns class sucked. I skipped her class a couple of times.
Tawn is a great teacher. She gives a lot of information, but it is not hard to learn. She gives a couple of homework assignments a week, but nothing too major. It is writing heavy, but she is not a tough grader.
Mrs. Hauptli is an amazing professor. She is someone to look up to, a leader, and always gives endless opportunities. Hauptli makes the course material relevant, fun, and challenging. As a future educator, I aspire to be someone like her!
Tawn is an incredible person and professor. She is kind, caring, intelligent, and someone I look up to. I learned so much valuable information in this class and the workload was very fair. This semester was a huge adjustment online, but her class always gave me something to look forward to.
I've taken multiple classes with Tawn and she is the best! She is very flexible and understanding:)
I cannot express how much I loved Tawn. I took two classes with her, and she inspires me so much. She took time to meet with me and help me with my path in education. She has been an unofficial mentor to me for a year now, and I value her opinion and perspective greatly. PLEASE take a class with her. She is wonderful. She gave me a great LOR (:
Tawn is one of the sweetest, kindest professors I have ever had! She is beyond helpful and always open to hearing your thoughts. I cannot recommend her enough.
Almost everything was a group minus the final project, if you are her honors you will have to have a field study, most students in my class we returning students. I learned so much information to apply to the real world around me not just in education, I am a bio major. She cares so much about you as a person and lets the class dictate the lectures
WOW!! Worst teacher I have ever had. I switched my majors because of her. Education is a joke now days but if you're looking for an easy class with an easy grade, then take her class. For our final we sat in a circle and passed a candle around while students cried and shared their feelings. Her whole class is an agenda.
Great professor! She is friendly and caring! Very flexible with due dates and accepts late work with no late deduction. Very inspiring, and I hope to be a great educator like her someday! Online free textbook with chapters to read each week and small quiz. Quizzes are unlimited attempts!
Tawn is an incredibly kind and motivating educator. Her class felt more like we were having large-group conversations most of the time. Get the textbook as an online PDF. Lots of opportunities to collaborate with classmates for assignments. No formal assessment/final, literally just whole-class discussion.
Tawn is caring in a few ways, but is huge on phones. She thinks she's “hip”, but is kind of annoying. Does not teach well and it's a figure it out yourself kind of class. Gives plenty of papers out of no where towards the end. Needs plenty of service hours, but will not help much with the steps to get there.
Town Hauptli is such amazing teacher. Her class is very easy if you follow the instructions of each lesson. It's an easy class you can't fail it unless you don't turn the work in and she gives out extra credit.
I loved her! She made the class fun and engaging, motivating me to do the work and learn. She's understanding, caring, and keeps her personal beliefs out of lectures, focusing on collaboration. She truly embodies what a teacher should be.
Tawn is passionate about education and cares about students engaging in the community. However, the course is very unorganized. Due dates change frequently without notice, and assignments often seem made up last minute. The class also requires a lot of service hours, so be prepared to commit significant time outside of regular coursework.
Professor Hauptli is here to ensure that you pass her class and she will meet with you as many times as you need to make sure that happens. She was very available to me whenever I needed her. She's very passionate about education and loves teaching. Such a warm, wonderful human being. If you have a chance to take a class with her, do so.
Class was extremely disorganized. Class time felt like study hour so no one showed up. Shaded the people who were absent yet didn't lecture much. Made me want to consider career paths because these EDU classes felt like she was just trying to get paid not actually educate. Beth Alsen at MCC really truly represents the education community.
The literal ONLY issue i had was she was not very on time with her posting of work due, but because of that she does accept late work with no consequences for being late. That one minor non issue was wiped from my mind by her amazing prof. skills. I have never felt so seen and appreciated by a prof. she really puts in the work for YOU to succeed.
She is very kind and passionate about teaching but her class felt very disorganized sometimes. There would be assignments randomly shown up in the module due but she never discussed them. Despite that, she was very caring and would recommend.
She is very kind but a lot of her work can be done online and is has videos instructing you how to do each assignment, so honestly I would take her online version.
