Just started this class and I think I will enjoy this one the most.
Worst teacher I have ever had. She doesn't know what she's doing.
She isn't difficult in class, but I feel like I don't learn anything. She reviews stuff in class that is irrelevant to what we are learning. We do receive extra credit, but it doesn't help much. She grades papers extremely difficultly, and she doesn't explain anything you did wrong or why you got the grade you did. Overall no thanks.
She teaches us nothing we can apply to our papers and then grades us against the other papers instead of having a set guideline for grading. She will never completely explain what is wrong with a paper, which makes it really hard to know how to fix it.
She is the worst english teacher that you could have. Does not teach well at all, Grades extremely hard.
Good teacher, boring subject to learn. Offers extra credit (HELPED ME OUT!) and plenty of conferences, is very willing to work with you. You must try though.
worst teacher ive ever had. thinks she is so smart even though she is just a grad student. dont take her class.
awful teacher
Super awesome, and really helpful, plus really cute. So nice and smart!
Everyone who rated her "poor quality" doesn't have any idea what they're talking about! She grades extremely fair on the papers because she tells you exactly what she wants. Plenty of conferences to meet with her and proofread your papers. No real homework, few simple quizzes.
Wonderful teacher. Great class discussions. Lots of writing workshops and conferences. By the end of this class, you really know how to write.
Fairly easy class as long as you turn the assignments in on time and do the reading like she asks. As long as you put the effort in you will get a good grade. Tells you exactly what she wants and gives plenty of writing workshops and even proofreads your papers for you. Enjoyed the class.
Loved this class! She is awesome! Fun activities, games for extra credit, writing workshops...best writing class I ever had.
She is awesome! So helpful and strives to make the class fun. Brings pizza to class, plays review games with us, and has lots of conferences to help us with papers. Great class!
She is awesome! So helpful and very clear in what she wants.
She is honestly very sweet, and tries really hard to be a good teacher. However, she grades EXTREMELY HARD!!!! Also, no absences are excused (trust me, no matter what) and you are allowed 4 absences or you receive a NC.
Mrs. Greene is the best teacher I've ever had. Makes class fun and is always willing to help.
The first paper I wrote for this class got a 65, but I wrote it the night before and didn't put any effort into it. The last paper got a 98 and that's because I started paying attention in class and went to see her during office hours. Believe me, you LEARN a lot in this class, but you have to earn the A (and it will be worth it!).
All i have to say is that prior to this class i never recieved anything below a B on a paper. Recieved nothing but C's from her.
Loved this class! I learned so much and my writing has gotten so much better because of her. She really takes the time to work with her students and offers great feedback on your writing. Very positive. I would take the class again!
100% wretched. I get nothing but A's on all papers I write for every other class I ever go to, and she grades HARD. Treats you like you are in middle school with attendance policy. Example, 6 absences allowed, if you forget your book, that's an absence. Stay away, look elsewhere for your 102 credit.
I took Tawnysha for 101 and 102 and she is the best! Her class is so easy and she is always willing to help. I definitely recommend going to office hours because it probably be the difference between an A or B. But speak up during class, show her you're trying and you'll do great! Got A's on all of my papers
Very sweet. You can tell she loves to teach, because she comes into class every day with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. Very smart, too. Gave me great feedback on my papers and was always willing to help when I needed it.
Wonderful teacher! She challenges you, but is always encouraging. Love the stories we are reading in class, and writing workshops are a ton of fun! Gives you lots of feedback on your stories and is always available for extra help. Love her!
Great teacher! Very encouraging and helpful. Super sweet and funny; tried to always make class fun!
She's fantastically friendly and approachable.
If you're looking to take a fun, challenging, and rewarding English class, I highly recommend taking Dr. Greene. She's one of the most helpful professors I've ever had, and she encourages you to ask her for assistance no matter what. Showing up to class is key to making an excellent grade too.
She is very willing to help with papers, but she tends to be a very tough grader. Also, she has a very strict attendance policy and will NOT excuse you for anything. I would suggest an easier teacher for 101.
She was an absolute wonderful teacher! She is incredibly good at writing, and she so soooooo helpful! She might be the nicest professor I had all year. She is incredibly approachable and genuinely cares about her students!
Doctor Greene is willing to help a lot with papers. She schedules draft workshops and conferences to meet with her, but is a very hard grader. She's a nice person, but I would recommend finding a better English teacher.
She is a VERY hard grader. Every paper I wrote, even my final paper, I received low grades on. I even went to her office hours and fixed everything on my papers that she told me too and still only received an 80. Extremely hard, I recommend taking someone else for english.
She is an awful teacher. Does not give clear directions. When she does give feedback she just tells you that you did it wrong and does't explain how it should be fixed. Grades EXTREMELY hard and expects you to be perfect. Avoid her!!!
I took Intro to Self. It was by far the easiest 102 classes offered at UT. There were no annotated bibs and the three papers were never over 5 pages. The class was kind of boring and attendance is required. Sometimes her expectations aren't clear but overall fair grader.
Good professor. She cares about her students and spends a lot of time working with you if you need it. She'll even help you with non-class related work--she helped me with my personal statement for graduate school, and I got into the program I wanted. Highly recommend her.
Extremely harsh. Never received anything less than an A in any of the English classes I took after this one, but her grading is unreasonable. Avoid her.
Loved this class. She really prepares you for the business world and all the assignments are useful. Quizzes are easy, and she gives you lots of help on your papers. You work hard in this class, but you come out of this class a better writer.
One of the sweetest teachers you'll ever have. Works with you and gives you lots of help along the way.
Very sweet teacher. I went into this class very intimidated, because I'm just not a good writer, but she was so nice and gave me a lot of extra help. She's clear and gives tons of feedback on all your papers. You'll love this class! I know I did!
To be honest, this teacher was not at all good. She is sweet but grades her papers very harshly. If you miss more than the allotted days she gives, she docks your grade. She also will dock your grade if you miss peer revisions. When you meet with her she really doesn't help make your paper "A material" she just skims it for random things to fix
She's super sweet and really easy to get along with- but when it comes to grades your work has to be flawless. After following the examples from the textbook- it still wasn't up to her standards. Her standards are set very high for the work that you turn in. Besides the papers, expect a lot of busy work in class and reading quizzes from the text.
AWFUL. Never had a worse English teacher than Dr. Greene. Terrible grader. Don't expect to make above an 85 on a paper. You fix your paper to her feedback and still get counted of drastically. Do not take this professor or GPA will suffer.
I have had Dr. Greene for two classes (101 and Business) and have found her to be helpful. Don't expect a free A, but if you put in some work and show up to class it is doable. Do recommend.
I absolutely loved Dr. Greene. You only write three papers the whole semester and the is a very fair grader. As long as you go to class and listen to what she has to say, its a very easy class. She will even let you revise one of your papers! If you have the chance to take her, do it.
Dr. Greene only required 3 papers to be written throughout the semester. Each paper had to be 4 pages, which in a college English class is not bad. The paper topics were pretty easy to write about, and she always offered conferences where she could tell you what needed to be fixed. Once the semester got going she canceled class for a lot of reasons
Dr. Greene is very good about giving you feedback on your papers. She will give you the option of revising one of your first two papers if you aren't satisfied with one of your grades. She makes you schedule a conference to meet with her where she will read over your paper and give you advice before it is due.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. RIDICULOUSLY TOUGH GRADER. DON'T TAKE HER
Great professor. The key to her grading is to pay attention in class to what she notices about papers and talk to her during office hours. Very sweet, would have her for class again!
Mrs. Greene was a good teacher overall. The whole class is 4 written business "papers", and there are easy quizzes and homework. The quizzes and homeworks boost your grade, and she gives feedback on papers so you know how to write them. She also uses examples in class to help. As long as you put in a little effort you will do fine!
Really hard grader, if you miss more than 4 classes you will not pass the class.
Very tough grader. It's very frustrating to get back a paper you thought you did extremely well on, after revising several times and conferencing with her, only to receive a low grade. She makes it easy to get 100's on many homework and quizzes, but it is impossible to do well on a paper. UGH. Would not recommend.
Dr. Greene is a fine professor if you put in the work. Always go to office hours and conferences and you will do better on the papers. I always got As because of this. She gives quizzes, but they are just summarizing the chapter you were supposed to read before class. There are chances for extra credit and the work is minimal.
She sends constant emails. But you must attend office conferences and arrive before scheduled class time and your not allowed to leave early and if you arrive after attendance is taken you are counted as late but you arrive ten minutes after attendance is taken you are marked as absent.
Dr. Greene is so sweet! As long as you actually try a little, her class is a breeze. There is manageable breaks between assignments. She gives great feedbacks on papers and her quizzes are so easy as long as you read.
From Rate My Prof, I thought Dr. Greene would be a great teacher. Unfortunately, her class is exactly what you would learn in a high school English class, so super easy, except she grades hard to make it look like we've learned something (you don't). Should be an easy A, but she will lowball you even if you've worked with her to improve your essay.
Dr. Greene is a wonderful and extremely sweet professor! As long as you show that you are putting in the effort, she will help you as much as she can! Go to the office hours-she will give you everything you need to do well on her essays. Overall an awesome professor!
Dr. Greene was an amazing teacher! She was happy to meet outside of class to read over drafts. The syllabus is clear on what you needed to do to make a good grade. Going to class and office hours will definitely help. You have to put in the work for a good grade, but getting an A is very doable. If you have the chance to take her, you should.
Professor Greene is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had! She genuinely cares about her students and will do everything she can to help them succeed. She always clearly explains things and teaches in a way that is positive, fun, and understandable. Definitely take her if you have the chance!!!
Dr. Greene was a great professor. The course was interesting, and writing about ourselves in our major essays made the assignments easier. The best thing you can do to help your grade is going to conferences. She reads your rough draft and tells you how you can improve your grade. You can also revise papers and earn extra credit.
Dr. Greene makes sure she is available for help on all papers and other assignments. She gives many opportunities to correct papers and earn extra credit. In class, there are group activities but, participation isn't really a big part of passing. If you go to class, you won't get behind on anything.
Professor Greene was one of the best professors that I had at UT. I took English 102: Inquiry to Memoir and I will never forget it. This class was so fun because you got to write about your own life. Expect some peer editing. Professor Greene is extremely understanding and helpful and works hard in helping her students to become great writers.
I recommend Dr. Greene with a few warnings. She is super nice and her classes are boring, but doable. She had pop quizzes but they are so easy and the homework is just as easy. All she asks is you summarize. She is a really, really tough grader, though. Even if you go to conferences, you will not get higher than a B on her papers.
Dr. Greene is an awesome teacher. Her class is very easy if you listen and write cohesive essays. There are a lot of quizzes based on reading, but it is not bad to handle at all.
Dr. Greene was a great english professor. I didnt find it difficult to get an A on papers if you just went to her for help. Definitely try to go to a conference and if not make sure to go to the writing center!!! she does give extra credit on two papers and lets you revise the lowest grade. Would take again !
10/10 would recommend. If you show up to class, do the homework, and are capable of writing on a pretty basic level, you'll get a good grade in the class. She holds one-on-one writing conferences, occasionally gives extra credit, and also lets you revise one paper. Definitely would take again!
She tells you at the beginning of the semester that there will be pop quizzes for the reading but that only happened four times. She gives really good feedback if you go to the conferences for the papers.
Very nice and helpful with all papers. Grades easy.
Dr. Greene was great and caring teacher! She had us engage in class and gave useful feedback on our papers that we would turn in. I would certainly take her again if given the opportunity.
Dr. Greene really cares about her students. Yes, the class does have a lot of work attached to it (its an honors class) but if you approach her with any questions/concerns about an assignment she clears it up and it very understanding. If you take your papers to her for proofreading you will do great in the class.
Dr. Greene is such a sweet and understanding person and I am so glad I was fortunate enough to take her class! She is very accessible, organized, and always has the best attitude even at 8am when I had her class. I wish I could have her as a professor again! She also provides great feedback on papers which allowed me plenty opportunity for growth!
Dr. Greene is kind and understanding. However, she is a very picky grader. She gives good feedback, but even if you fix the errors, your given grade will not be as high as you want it to be because Dr. Greene has significantly high expectations. If you're not an English major/minor like me, I recommend a professor who grades easily.
This class was asynchronous so we never had any meeting times. Prof. Greene includes 15 minute (sometimes more or less) lecture videos on Canvas. She is an extremely harsh grader for a 100 level course. I don't feel like the content that she teaches matches her expectations for her students' writing. I honestly didn't get a lot from this class.
She was one of the best professors I've had and I will miss her. I've never been a great writer, but she helped me out outside of class when ever I needed it. She even helps on a barely started paper the day before it's due. The usual papers and discussions boards. Go see her in office hours and you'll be thankful even if you're lost.
Tawnysha is a very nice teacher. I really liked how her class was set up. The reason why I didn't rank her amazing is because I think she grades a little tough. I also think she is still super young, and with that she can be immature about certain things.
Professor Greene is great! I had her for asynchronous English 255 and the course was laid out very easily. There are around 3 papers and 1 project throughout the semester. She is always happy to answer any questions and read through rough drafts for feedback! Honestly, she was my favorite English instructor I've had.
It's an easy course. You watch one 3-5 minute video and write a short discussion post per week. There are 4 major assignments. Her grading is harsh. She is the type of prof that does not like to give As. She takes off a lot of points for small, easily fixable formatting details, while giving little feedback on the actual content of the assignment.
She is a very harsh grader! It was very difficult for me to pull an A in this class, which is kind of absurd for a 100 level course. There is a lot of homework too. But she is really nice though which helps.
I loved this class and prof. She was easily accessible when I wanted to talk to her about papers or assignments, and she gave great feedback in those meetings and on the papers themselves. The online course was set up so well, and her expectations were very clear. I took this class not expecting to enjoy it so much. I'd absolutely recommend her!
She's very nice and willing to help but grades kind of tough (just takes point off for the smallest things). She gives opportunities to revise papers though and is more than willing to meet with you and help you.
My experience with the course was not so good. I did most of the work for the class and still only managed to get a C. She is a hard grader and takes points away for everything. She is not very considerate of your situation if an emergency arises. I would not recommend this class to anyone if they aren't an English major. RUN!
Dr. Greene is a great professor! A little bit of a tougher grader but she does offer extra credit for many assignments. Dr. Greene's class planning was really great; I never felt pressed for time when it came to assignments. I highly recommend Dr. Greene!
She is super nice and always open to help. Most of the material is self-explanatory and pretty simple assignments that don't take a lot of time. During classes, she does take attendence and makes you get in groups of two or three to do activities now and then. The course is more focused on projects than tests.
Professor Greene is amazing! She grades relatively easily and there is not a huge course load. The essays/projects are pretty spread out, maybe a project every 3 weeks or so. Totally recommend her course, I took it online.
Dr. Greene is a great professor. The course was asynchronous and there were lecture videos that you had to watch and discussion boards for assignments. There is also a paper to do every month. Everything was easy to follow along with. She also responds within a timely manner if you have any questions. I would take her again! Grades very easy!
She was such an easy and understanding professor. As long as you do all of the discussions, which are given once a week, and manage your time wisely you'll do just fine. She makes instructions clear for each project and provides lots of feedback if you experience any confusion. I enjoyed taking public writing online and got a 100 on every paper.
Professor Greene does not care about her students or what is going on in their life one bit. She has no problem completely rearranging the syllabus for a emergency in her own personal life but when it came to one in mine she gave me a zero for turning a paper in a day late. She refuses to even have a conversation with you about your grades.
Dr. Greene was an excellent and accommodating professor. She provides clear instructions on how to success and is generous with feedback whenever clarification is needed. I thoroughly enjoyed her online public writing course and earned a 100 on all the paper.
