Dr. Dark, he is a god amongst men. He has overwhelmed me with the fascination and interest in political science. He is the teacher of the year, no, the millenium.

Wonderful educator. He is a profesional that gives fair and balanced insight to politics. Having traveled the world and taught in pretty much of it, he also provides knowledge from many varying political systems. Highly recommended.

Prof. Dark was an interesting teacher with interesting quirks. If you are competent with the material, then it is an easy class. He gives an overview of both national and California state politics but it is mostly fundamentals students should have learned in high school. Overall, he was a pretty chill teacher.

this guy is cool, and the class is easy, lecture notes posted online so its hard to get lost...i personally had a good time and he made class very enjoyable didnt fall asleep once..

I enjoyed the class. The only thing that needs improvement is the study guides for the class. I think it should be given 2 weeks in advance before the test date. Also they should clearly present what you want the class to study.

this guys funny when he gets excited. he knows what hes talking about, but sometimes he talks so much and so fast that it seems like time is going by fast, but really only 5 min had past. he outlines his lectures and has them available on his website. it wasnt helpful to me but it might be for some of you.

Very cool guy and also very lenient. His lectures are pretty interesting but you have to read the material to understand it better. Tests are a bit hard if you don't read the text. Just read and participate and you'll do fine. 2 midterms, 1 five page paper, and a final.

Professor Dark seems a bit shy but overall he is very detailed in his assesments of reading materials. He could stand to be more detailed about what he expects (in assignments) from his students.

All of his lectures are found online, but you should go to class because he gives answers to midterms and finals, they're multiple choice but confusing to study for

Second time taking one of Professor Dark's classes. His funny and gives good lectures. I feel he puts the responsibility on the student whether they pass or fail his class. I recommend him to other Political Science stuedents.

150 was pretty interesting, considering that it was required. Poli sci majors will like it most, though. He let the students make speeches about the presidential candidates.

Dark is kind of a goofy guy, but in a good way. Lectures are all off the video screen and has a bad habit of constantly highlighting the text on the screen which can be distracting. 2 papers (about 6-8 pages) and 2 scantron exams (super easy) and an in class essay. Great class if you have an interest in American politics.

My third class with him.I wish I could take more of his classes. He is awesome. He actually made me seriously think about studying American Government more deeply.

Knows how to teach and knows American government well. I took as many classes as possible from him. Papers and workload reasonable. Distributes outline of lecture in advance. Knows how to relate to working students who attend at night.

Great Professor! Professor Dark is very helpful and extremely nice. He has a midterm, a final, and a paper that isn't too long. He isn't a difficult grader, but not a completely easy one either.

If you study you will pass his class. not hard, but not easy... you will need to study.

Great instructor, students must read textbooks to pass the class. Grade is based on 1 8pg paper and a Midterm and Final (both consisting of 3-5 essay questions). I love Dr. Dark as a prof. this is my second course I've taken with him, he has been extremely helpful and provides extensive knowledge on the subject. I highly reccommend

Taking 4 classes with Prof. Dark made me change courses from global to american politics. I worked in DC and learnings from his class paid off. Great professor.

This teacher is pleasant but long-winded. He grades pretty fairly and isn't very demanding. He doesn't depend on memorization/regurgitation and weekly baby quiz style. One paper and two blue book tests.

His lectures are very helpful, but his tests are still very tricky and hard. he also curves tests. 3 midterms 1 paper final. so do good in the paper, it is worth as much or more than the final!! talk to him, he will help you out alot!

I love this professor he is extremely helpful and is really excited about what he is teaching. he goes beyond what is expected and makes the material so much fun. the final exam was tough but he graded on a curve.

The best teacher at Cal State LA. I switched majors from Business to Political Science and after his lecture I was glad I did. Enjoys teaching and you learn a lot about American and International Politics. Study is well-structured and the cool website has plenty of articles and material related to each section of class.

Great teacher, he loves politics and knows his stuff. Beware, you must, I repeat read the book or you will have a hard time for the midterm & final. Has an essay 8-12pgs. Helpful, funny, and interesting. No presentations or participation required. Gives study guide for each test. 3 books to read also.

This guy is awesome. His class is ridiculously easy but you come out actually learning the material. You don't really need the book other than for the study sheets that he gives you before the midterm and final. The paper is like 10 pages but it's pretty easy.

There were 3 books needed but you only need the one for the paper. Easy class, gives study guide so you just memorize the multiple choice answers and you get an A on the tests. Just go to the study session after class to get the answers. If your not into POLS, the class will be boring despite his enthusiastic teaching.

I was dreading taking politics class,but I am glad I took it with Dark. He is nice, easy going, and funny guy. Also the class is pretty easy. You have the test questions which you have to just memorize, and there is also an essay portion of the test which you should read the book if you want to get an A. You can go to him for help is he helpful

Nice, easy, helpful professor. Classes tend to become boring, but attendance is RECOMMENDED (there are questions on the midterms and finals that pertain to what was talked about during class)

Easy as hell. A midterm, 10 pg essay, & final. Shows videos and tries to make class interesting w/ videos and is funny. There were a couple of books assigned & a few questions on the test come directly from the reading but most of it comes from lectures and I got an A w/o reading a page. Test is half MC & T/F, half essay. Easy grader. Nice guy.

If it's any POLS professor, Dr. Dark is the man. Pretty easy and knows his stuff. Two midterms and one final. One 10-page essay we did. Both midterms consisted of 50 m/c and an essay each. If you're a laptop person, he has a rule about that but never really cared later in the quarter. Dont fall asleep or he'll get mad. Want all his students to pass

Best poli sci professor

funny guy, easy prof, attendance isn't required and the midterm was open book/notes. Have to submit a career plan and a write up about the paper topic. One 20 page paper plus a class presentation is the majority of the grade, had to pick one aspect of the Obama administration to write about

His midterm is MC and an essay. It's pretty straight forward. It's not hard. He's really boring though. Lots of extra credit opportunities. I didn't learn much. Struggled in the final.

Out of the whole political science department I can actually say Professor Dark's class is the one class I actually learned something. The material and his requirements are clear. Good professor

Very easy professor, very helpful to work with. If you attend his office hours he will give you assistance with the study guide. There are 2 midterms, 1 final, and an essay based on the two books : Willie Brown & James Madison. Give a lot of extra credit which can help you make up for the midterm tests part.

Dark is a very nice, gregarious guy who will do a good job at teaching whatever subject he teaches. I took him for a few classes and he helped me improve my understanding of the subjects he covered and writing skills. I would definitely take him again for another course.

He's a good professor but the lectures can be long if you're not into politics. He tries to make the lectures a bit more entertaining by the way he explains things. Overall the class isn't too bad; 1 midterm, a paper and the final. He gives extra credit opportunities so take advantage of them!!

he has a assistant and the assistant grades everything. he goes off topic a lot. but if you do the readings youll pass. the paper you write is 40% of your final grade so dont put it off until the last minute

If you have a basic understanding of Politics, the class will be easy for you, but this class was boring. He tries to make the class interesting by showing us videos, 2 midterms and 1 final, and a paper that is worth 40% of your grade. I never went to class and I still passed with an A-. The class isn't hard, offers extra credit towards grade.
