Taz is just an all around really cool guy who definitely cares about his students. Take him!

Cool easy going guy with a sense of humor but he kinda looks like James Bond so dont mess with him lol.

He knows how to push your buttons to get you thinking. He loves to mess with people to see if he can get a reaction out of them. Actually made a 4 hour class bearable. Doesn't seem it at first but prob one of the smartest ppl I ever met. He won't give you a grade, but if you work hard he will do pretty much anything for you.

Professor Ruffilo is awesome. Great teacher who tried to make his students think outside the box. Easy on the eyes too!

OMG hes so so so so so sososososossoso cool!!!! Its worth going to class just to get the perspective of him from behind. Idk if hes a biker or something like that but yea were getting married so back off lol. Actually he's probably married to a model or actress or something. Oh yea and by the way he's a good teacher.

He's the most caring professor I've ever had in college. He pays attention to you as a student and as a person. He's a little rough around he edges, but he's the best professor I've ever had; take him and you'll see what I mean. Oh yea, and he's pretty darn cute too.

There isn't a lot of good people in the world but he is definitely one of them. Professor Ruffilo helped me with much more than my writing abilities. I won't get into it here but he helped me get out of a tough time when even my family wouldn't lift a single finger. Thank you professor.

He's literally the best professor I've ever had. The class was a lot of work mostly five paragraph and three paragraph essays but it was worth it because I learned a lot. Just try not to fall behind because it's hard to catch up.

Great professor who takes a genuine interest in your progress as a writer. He's quite the motivator. The 4 hour class was tough but he made it bearable. He lets you out early sometimes but always sticks around to talk to students who are having issues. He's just a great person and a wonderful teacher. Take him! I learned so much.

Professor Taz is 1 of a kind. He's moody sometimes and acts impatient with students that don't put up an effort but its all an act. He's so helpful but he's too nice to his students he even gave one boy money for parking. He's smart and deliciously handsome. Even the security guard loves him. Take him now bc he prob won't be at HCCC much longer.

Really cool and nice guy and he likes to jokaround so it makes class less boring so if you have to take a writing class take him.

Professor Taz is so nice. Sometimes he looks tired I feel bad for him. He goes on rants that are funny and some of the stories are crazy. Just when you think it's random and has nothing to do with the topics he explains what it has to do with class. It's funny after class to watch some of the students (mostly female) line up to talk to him.

Mr. Tazio is more then just a teacher, he's a true visionary and mentor. An absolutely brilliant fellow with a dream to improve the world, starting from the classroom. Class makes us want to make him proud and that's where the production starts. I am so blessed to occupy a seat in his classroom. I hope he never gives up what he does, he's fantastic

Handsome, hilarious, and by far the most caring professor at HCCC. He will do whatever he can to help you learn and get a better grade, but he makes you earn it. Ask him to tell the story about the hunchback. It's one of the craziest stories I've ever heard. The class is a lot of work but it's worth it. Oh and did I mention he is handsome?

Great professor, includes real life experience into the lectures

Seriously he is so cool. He can talk about anything and make it interesting. He treats everyone with respect, but every once in a while he lets the hood version of himself peak out and say hello. The guys like him. The girls love him. I've encountered some white teachers over the years who put on this show to "connect". No show here. He's for real.

I had Taz for Eng-101 and I have to say that he is by far the best English Teacher Professor I've ever had in my life. He's kind and understanding and he'll do everything in his power to make sure you pass so long as you earn his respect and try your hardest. He took a break this coming semester (spring 2015) but I hope he's back soon!

This teacher is by far the best english teacher I've ever had. He gave clear feedback and went out of his way to help students when needed. Super understanding and tells great stories! Assignment guidelines are clear and he is a wonderful person overall.

He works at a small community college in Jersey City. He could probably be elsewhere, I'm not really sure what his story is. Every so often he tells us something crazy about a trip to Africa or some other adventure. The fact is, he's here, and you're a fool if you don't take advantage of that. He is... the most interesting man in the world.

OK so I looked at the reviews here after I was in his class and saw all these comments about him being hot. To be honest I didn't see it at first, but that was OK bc the class is fun (but he can be a tough grader). Anyway he got a haircut and was wearing a T shirt last class so his muscles were popping out while he talked. OMG I have such a crush.

Professor R is trying to change the world not by changing the minds of students but by equipping them to question what is around them. Sometimes he presents an issue to the class but refuses to tell us what he thinks because he wants us to make up our own minds. Don't be fooled, he is so much more than a college professor. He is a renaissance man.

Taz is very down-to-earth, a good professor as well as a good person. The lectures are interesting, since he always picks topics for discussion that are happening right now. He gives students a lot of freedom in choosing subjects to write papers on, and expects the best. Gives great and clear feedback as well. One of the best of HCCC!

Someone thought he was a student on the first day. He's Jax from Sons of Anarchy, but smarter, and nicer. Just an all around sweet guy, and you can tell he has dreams to be somewhere else and do more than teach, but he does everything he can to help you learn. Class is rarely boring. The amount of knowledge in this man's brain is astounding.

Mr. Taz has some weird dreams, if you're lucky he may share them.... They're great discussion topics.

Mr Taz is the sweetest, most caring person Ive ever met no exaggerating. He makes learning fun and doesnt seem serious, but he is. He knows how to control the class unlike some teachers at Hudson who let the students take over. His lectures on politics are so inspiring and understandable.

Best I've ever had at HCCC. Very cool, very helpful and such a sweet guy. Show up and participate and you'll do well. He lets you revise your assignments a few times. He usually ends class early but sticks around to make sure students are caught up. If you fail his class you have no one to blame but yourself.

He's going to know I posted this if he ever sees this, but I don't care. Professor Taz is a great teacher and an AMAZING person. He takes the time to get to know his students and I'm proud to call him my friend. I guess I shouldn't write exactly what he did for me because I don't want people to take advantage of him. Just an overall cool down to earth guy who has a lot to offer students. He uses a lot of real world experience and tells some really funny stories.

I HOPE that I one day know half the things Professor Taz knows. The first day of class I thought he was a student pretending to be the professor. He's not so far removed from the college experience, so he understand what students are going through. He is easy going and attractive but DO NOT mistake his kindness. Very relaxed and helpful and you will learn some cool things. Super funny guy. In one lecture he'll go from Miley Cyrus to Donald Trump to A Tribe Called Quest and then finish talking about horror movies and somehow it'll make sense.

Taz is a great teacher. I took him for speech. He is awesome. He will not hold back on the feedback. If your sensitive, think twice. He is young and understands that students have difficulties. Do not try to take advantage of him, take advantage of what he's offering.

Well I saw today first hand what everyone is talking about. He cares so much about students. Lol just please don't think you're going to do whatever you want in his class because he has no problem making it clear who is running the show. He will not baby you but if you put effort into the class he will show you how much he cares.

Easy grader but extremely helpful and gives you opportunities to get better. Easy to talk to and makes things super understandable. Does assign papers somewhat often, but they fairly simple and he gives you plenty of time to get work done. Very interactive with the whole class.

Wasn't really comfortable with public speaking til, I took his class. Wished I took his class on my first semester would have made public speaking in my other classes easier. He keeps it real no need to search further take his class.

An amazing professor. Although very relaxed grading wise he gives great feedback, you'll want to get better at public speaking. Don't worry if you're a bit shy he encourages you to speak in all the right ways, moreover, he gives a lot of chances for extra credit and if you really bomb a speech terribly you can replace it with that. Or, you get an A

Awesome professor! For those who are afraid of public speaking, I highly recommend taking Professor Taz, he really helped me get over my stage fright. He encourages everyone to come up front and try. I wish he also teaches courses other than speech.

He is hilarious. Speech is usually seen as an intense class but he makes it seem light. He is so nice and respectful.

I love professor ruffilo! He's so funny and loves to joke around in class. Easy A, you don't even have to actually write the essays out and hand it in. You could do a presentation or use note cards to look down at while saying your speeches. He's really encouraging and nice.

As someone with social anxiety taking a speech class its obviously nerve wrecking having to get up and talk in front of a classroom from the beginning being very fidgety in speeches to the end being very calm def did show the impact of how comfortable I got in class also he is very supportive he guided me to help when I was in a depressed episode.

I absolutely love this professor! He's so caring and sweet. I can't overemphasize enough how great he is!! Ruffilo makes you feel comfortable in his class. He really does care about his students.

Totally LOVED Professor Ruffilo's speech class! I always had a fun time in each and every class! He's a very kind and genuinely hilarious person to be around. His class is super easy (if you know what you're doing) and feels like a breeze when taking gen-ed classes. Hope to have him again sometime...

Amazing professor

Prof Ruffilo succeeds in his goal of making the students more comfortable and better public speaking. The difference in every student from the beginning to the end of the semester was truly outstanding. Regardless of where you start, your going to be much better by the end. He found a way to get every student actively engaged in the classroom talks

Professor Taz is a wonderful professor. If you have an opportunity to take his class definitely do. He provides great feedback and guidance for work. You will need to complete several speeches. Although the online class was great, to get the most out of it, highly recommend his in person class.
