I will put it simply. If you can take an Econ class with another prof, please do it. He is hard to understand, go through topics way to quickly and gets mad if you don't understand what he is teaching.

Probably the worst professor I've ever had, the guy hardly speaks english and is so incredibly over qualified for a first year. Takes it far to seriously and makes the criteria 100x more complex than required. We were the only class in the course to get a final exam worth 40% of the final grade. Would never take his class again.

Find a different professor. He says he is available for help, but he won't help if he thinks you should already understand it. His term paper for enviro econ is basically a rewrite of his thesis, with sources coming directly from it. Ineffective teaching method and condescending/ rude criticism on assignments. I would not recommend Tazul Islam as a professor. His notes are all over the place and hard to understand. He does not show respect to the students and sometimes will refuse to help when you do not understand. He takes simple content and will confuse the heck out of you with it. You will do a lot better in distance education!

heavy accent, all over the place with notes, intimidating when you ask for help. I had to teach myself everything. Multiple choice questions are confusing and sometimes have double negatives, they did not test my understanding. It wasn't hard to pass the class but i feel as if i didn't learn a thing!

Difficult marker, if you don't have exactly what he wants expect a near failing grade. Relies very heavy on the textbook. The final paper was a direct rewrite of his thesis which he expects you to site in your paper or risk failing it. Rude at times and don't bother asking questions because he expects you to already know everything. Don't recommend

Worst professor I have ever had during my college experience. Can barely speak English, and treats students poorly when we cannot understand. Can't even ask a question without him humiliating you infront of the entire class first.

Does not post grades until after the final exam. Uncaring towards students. Writes rude comments on homework. Asking if you are paying attention in class. You can show up to every single class and take notes constantly and still fail. His accent is thick but speaks English well. Just do not take this class.

I take this course via distance - big mistake. He takes the textbook and explodes the material far beyond what is included in it. I wish this course came with lecture notes. He is rude and doesnt care whether you understand, just whether youve said what he expects. I would never take another course taught by him. Ever.

Strong accent makes the lecture very hard to understand. Every time I want to pay attention to his lecture but ends up sleep at his lecture. The strong accent makes you so sleepy during lecture. Good luck on his class!

Because of that his lectures are incredibly hard to understand as I'd spend most of my time trying to figure out what he said, by the end of the class I'd have a full on headache. He came to replace a professor on leave at UBCO. He was Terrible. His classes were monotonous and he was an absolute jerk if you asked questions or came in for office hours. I asked him where I went wrong in solving a question and he responded with saying, if you cant figure it out on your own, why are you in my class? You sir... are a pissant.

Heavy accent. Huge jerk to students who answer wrong or have questions. Would also call students out that he felt were not paying attention. Very disrespectful a handful of times each class. Makes the class harder when it doesn't need to be. End of the day he probably knows his stuff but due to lack of respect and poor teaching - 0/5 worst prof yet

Tazul is by far the worst professor I have ever had at Okanagan College. He calls out students for using their laptop even though it is for class purposes. He is extremely rude, not helpful, and his lectures are very boring. I have friends that took macro with other profs and enjoyed it. I am an A+ student but am having the hardest time.

Tazul left me with a sour taste. He's not approachable and very hard to communicate with. I was confused from day one. He made out any misunderstanding as my fault. I can say this with no anger but complete honesty that he literally threw childish email tantrums. RIDICULOUS & unprofessional. Googled the whole course. Yet he's the chair of Econ?!

he is really bad in teaching. in the class he'll teach you the simple things but in the exams he'll put you the most difficult questions. my exam was online and he said it would be of 2 hrs but it went over automatically in just 1.5 hrs. he does take attendance but no marks for that. this is frustrating. he won't respond to your emails as well.

I took a distance education class with prof Islam so there were no lectures. his assignments are very very long and he requires your answers to be specific down the point of copying the textbook. He was hard to communicate with and overall absent. He did not provide any significant resource for exam prep. Prepare to teach yourself

I took Dr Islam's class online due to COVID-19, and it was abundantly clear that online classes were not his forte. I cannot speak for the experience of people in his in-person classes, but frankly those experiences would have to be MANY times more positive to be worth it. Save yourself the ear-strain and embarrassment, pick a different professor.

Tazul is clearly knowledgeable in his field, but his teaching leaves a lot to be desired. I would equate his teaching style to being yelled at by your dad at the kitchen table as he is "helping" you with your math homework. His lectures are dull and make difficult material even harder to understand. He is unapproachable. Avoid if you can.

Tazul was extremely unprofessional towards me right from the very start of the class. Beware if you are taking it online as he offers no coaching, does not make deadlines clear, and will belittle you when you ask him to explain with more detail. I dropped the class 3 weeks before the exam because of how bad this "tutor" was.

Tazul's class was NOT it. My 1st econ course, it left a bad taste in my mouth and triggered my anxiety. He's extremely rude to all students. He picks on people and embarrasses them in front of everyone. Have a question? Be ready to not get an answer. I dropped the course after I could get a refund because it was THAT BAD.

Tazul is the worst professor I have ever had. Took his ECON 125 and 115 classes and it was hell. He has a very thick accent that is hard to understand, especially online. Either attend his classes and don't bother reading the textbook or teach yourself and skip his lectures. He will yell at you for asking questions. Do not recommend him.

He is very unapproachable and replies to a question with another question which is not helpful at all. He does not post any marks and hands the mark directly to the registrar without you being able to see what you got on the final. I will never take another class with him.

Tazul is probably a great guy outside of school, however, as a prof he falls behind others. His course is lecture intense, his slides barely make sense, and if he writes on the board good luck understanding it. The course grade is entirely based on tests and has a 50% final (not my jam). If you're jonesing for a brain workout, take this course

I have never worked so hard for anything in my life. If you want an A be prepared to spend all of your time on this class studying. Tazul was not accommodating either, I had covid the week before the final and Tazul couldn't be bothered to even respond to my inquiry on material being covered in class.

By far the worst professor I've ever had. Expects you to memorize his entire course top to bottom. If you want to spend an entire semester memorizing pointless formulas take this guy's course. He is also kind of a jerk, refuses to give clear answers and refuses to help on technical issues because "they aren't his problem."

This professor just read from power point in leisure and the practice quiz is totally unrelated to the actual test Accent is hard to understand you can actually read the text book by yourself and YouTube video online for much better understanding

Nearly impossible to understand and his lectures were worse than listening to a youtube video. Coming to class is almost not worth it as tazul will not make learning any easier for you. better to stay at home and read the textbook yourself.

Only get graded for the exams and class quizzes, he doesn't really round your mark up for quizzes but averages your mark based on exams. He was at least nice enough to let me write the midterm another time because I wasn't able to make it on midterm day. However, exam questions are all multiple-choice and tricky. lectures are hard to understand.

How this man ever wound up teaching for a living baffles me. How he is allowed to continue is a mystery. A straight up nightmare of a prof who needs to seriously reconsider his life choices.

Terrible prof. Lectures are useless. Asks confusing/poorly worded questions, yells at students when no one can understand what he's asking. Spends 10-20% of any given lecture badgering, harassing or just outright insulting his students. No consideration for different learning styles. No helpful feedback. Only way to pass is to self-teach online.

STAY AWAY! Take literally any other prof to fulfill your ECON cred. Tazul will go out of his way to make it as difficult as possible for you to succeed. His powerpoint slides are literally illegible chicken scratch and the tests are full of grammatical errors and like 75% of the questions are trick questions. Worst 3 months of my life.

Most of the time you can't understand what the guy is saying, I get he's probably at least trying to teach a little bit, and when you do understand him he doesn't explain why he does anything. If you take ECON with Tazul, you'll have to teach yourself the material off youtube. I highly recommend you DON'T take any of his classes if you want to pass

Horrible professor, he should retire immediately. Doesn't explain anything well, can't read the board, rambles on about pointless stuff, can't explain anything just does this question without explaining why. You have to teach yourself the whole course at home. He is very short tempered, gets mad when no one answers because no one understands.

Quizzes do not relate to powerpoint that well or practice questions that are too many to get through before quiz. NEVER TAKE TAZUL. He is horrible. Goes to fast, get mad easily, made attendance mandatory because people stopped showing up. This guy needs to retire. You learn by teaching yourself through youtube. Be scared to take

Tazul doesn't understand how to teach properly, and about 2/3 words he says are mumbled and are hard to understand. The only test prep provided is the 60 slide bland PowerPoints which hardly cover the material that is on the quizzes and exams. Then finally, the quizzes and the exams are poorly worded, and very difficult. Don't take his class!

I am about to take final and this is the only class in my life I'm worried about failing. He sucks at teaching, brings down your GPA. I can't understand anything he says, very rude, power points don't help with test's, made attendance mandatory because no one shows up. Doesn't answer question just answers with another question. Does not explain anything. I had a hard time asking for help. Was a bit aggressive in the way he would speak to class. Would not recommend for economics class. I ended up teaching myself which was hard

Is not fit to be a professor at all. Communication in lectures are horrible. A professor in Canada should be able to speak English clearly. He acts way too strict when really it's totally unnecessary and makes the course/work much more difficult than needed. Needs reevaluation from Okanagan College.

Do not take Tazul, its hard to reach his expectations and is a tough grader.

i will never ever take any classes with him in future. The lectures were confusing, and the explanations of concepts were often unclear. it is really hard to understand what he is saying in the class. Overall, this class was frustrating and overwhelming, and I would not recommend to take any classes with tazul.
