Very Good Class, Hard to get good grade, but learn alot
very good professor
Excellent. Good integration b/w real life and coursework.Keeps your attention
Very good instructor. Can do well in the class if you work for it.
Challenging class. Tests are fairly easy if you use the study guide.
best teacher I've had
good teacher, very sexy understated sort of way

Excellent teacher, and willing to help. Likes the South Carolina Game****.

A very generous grader in this course (graduate level)
Wish he wasn't so married
arrogant!!! only thing hot about him is his breath. jerk- his test are hard
Tries to sound hard at first, but he is a good teacher. Read and ask questions.
great teacher, very clear

Best teacher ive had in a long time, never had a teacher as funny or nice or as great at teaching. Take him for anything and everything u can. best teacher in the business school.
Good teacher. Clear. Study all his notes and do the homework problems and you'll do fine. If you don't like homework, don't take this course at all.
no compassion! avoid like no other
Very opinionated instructor. Good instructor but hard.
Test aren't very easy, you need to study everything. Knows alot, but tells alot of sports stories. Ask him to Crow.
Wont tell you whats on test...makes you study it. A nice guy, but some of the questions on the test arent what you expect. Study everything. Likes talking about USC and the UNCC/football situation. not a fan of credit cards
Great Professor, Hard class. Makes you study, doesn't tell you what is on the test. If you want to learn microeconomics take him, if you are scared of work you will be in trouble in this class. Best Econ professor I have had so far.
good guy and all but his tests are hard and he wont tell you whats on them.
Very opinionated, exams are tough, says he wants to teach you how to think for yourself-so if economics is not something you're good at take it with somebody else-if you did well in macro don't just expect to do well in this class.
Believes students are lazy and being cheated of education if not forced to read their books. I got an A in Macro, got a C in his class. You must put in extra effort to pass. He sets bar high. 3 exams, opt final
great professor. willing to help, willing to give extra consideration for better grades at end of term over low grades at beginning. optional final. however, too opionionated, does not respect differing viewpoints. but great teacher and person - recommend
If you're looking for the easy route, this isn't it. But this guy can really teach. I recommend him to anyone who really wants to learn. Others should probably avoid.
Very good teacher. Will make you work but he is fair and you will learn a lot from him.Come to class because your notes will be the main thing for tests.Helpful and nice, but show that you are intersted.
Excellent teacher and real professional guy. Works hard to make sure students get it. Expects work, and that turns some losers off.
I didn't really appreciate his class until I took Econ 3125. I was much better prepared than most others. Recommend if you want to learn
i worked my butt off in this class!!! i appreciated that a lot, and he makes you work for your grade, which is refreshing. make sure you do the problems in the study guide b/c the test questions come from the same ppl that make the study guide.
What a guy!
I did really poorly in undergrad econ, but came really close to pulling an A in this class. You have to work for your grades - the exams are tough. However, he can explain things in terms anyone can understand. Great guy!
This professor really knows his stuff. You get out of it what you put into it. Really a great guy and you will learn a lot
Awesome....enough said!
Do all the problems he assigns and do corresponding problems in study guide. Know how to do the problems well before the exam. Practice the problems. Get the picture? Do your homework and do extra work in the study guide. Sometimes he'll put problems on tests that are not exactly like the homework, which is expeced from an MBA professor.GreatClass!
He is an awesome teacher. He is tough, but you learn alot....there are alot of professors out there that need to take a lesson from him. The best MBA class I have had yet and I hate ecoon
Personable and fair professor. New professors take note: When in doubt, imitate Dr. Louis "Ted" Amato. The class is difficult but there are many examples to keep you engaged and up to speed. I wish we spent more time reviewing problems but the theory is valuable in the workplace, if not on the test.
Go to class. Pay attention and take notes all the time. Read the book and do the study guide problems. not too hard to make an A or B, just work the entire time through the class and don't be lazy.
Good teacher, but his political comments were uncalled for at times. He lets you know he has tenure, and can say whatever he wants. He has a big ego. But, overall he taught straight from the book and study guide. I recommend this professor.
Very knowledgeable!
Great Teacher...i understand business much more now...and im not even a business major!! i would take him again if i had the chance
Go to class! Keep up with the reading; daily quizzes will get you otherwise. Dr. A shares many opinions (especially about sports)... Overall, he is a good teacher.
Dr.Amato is a great teacher! He knows that Econ is not for everyone. But he wants you to know the material. If you read the chapters and do the study guide, you should be fine. I hated econ, but Dr.Amato made the class more interesting..with his discussions about riding his bike in Davidson(always funny), and about his garderner. Funny guy.
Great professor! Has a sence of humor and shows it. Gets personal with students. Relates econ wonderfuly to things you actually care about. His rare political comments are not out of order. Amato makes this course intresting! Class is not a breeze though, you have to put in work. Do not get behind or you will be sorry. Be sure to attend lectures.
READ his assigned text and get the study guide. sometimes he goes off on topics that have nothing to do with econ but overall he is really a great teacher
He is a great teacher. He understands not everyone loves econ, especially accounting majors. Always read the chapters and buy and do the study guide. Tests can be hard but as long as you grasp the material you will do well
Dr. Amato is a really good teacher. He gives you a practice test before the test so you can somewhat expect what the test is going to be on. The tests are a little hard, but as long as you go to class and work with the study guide, you'll be fine.
He was a very good teacher. Althought ECON was not my best subject, he made sure that he could help to his best ability.Attend class as much as possible because you may be able to omit your final. He was helpful and I would take him again.
This is one of my favorite teachers. He truly loves what he does. He incoporates stories and examples all the time! Not a cake-walk class though....then again your in college! I highly recommend him!
Lecture were interesting... he is pretty clear with what will be on the test. Make sure to do hmwk problems assigned & review answers. Study guide helps for the possible mild "curve ball" on the test.
Really knows his stuff, and likes his job. Very helpful and easy to understand. He wants everyone to do well if they can. I wish all my profs were like him.
Dr. Amato is a great professor who is clear, interesting, and helpful. He tells you from the beginning to use the study guide, and believe me it really does help. If you go to class, take notes, read the chapters, and do the study guide you should be fine (it sounds like a lot but it's really not). I've made A's on all the tests so far.
This class is great! He really knows what he's talking about, and he makes it interesting. I actually understood the material. He sets the ground rules on the first day, stick by them and you?re guaranteed an A. Don't and well you suffer the consequences.
I took Macro with Dr. Amato in the summer. I enjoyed the course and got an A although it is not my major. He has a way of teaching that makes students appreciate economics. Go to every class and listen, try reading the chapters daily and study the multiple choice questions in the study guide and you'll be solid.
He is a wonderful professor and makes his lectures interesting. If you show up to every class and do the study guide you will make an A. I didn't even read the book except to look up study guide answers. I highly recommend him. I took him for a Summer semester and studied for less than an hour per day and made an 'A'
Dr. Amato made the lectures interesting. The attendance policy will really help your grade. Always offers review sessions before tests. All notes are posted online, so you can sit in class and relax. I would take him again if he taught something I needed.
He tells some stories and makes the class bareable. I did not take macro prior to taking his micro class so I was a little lost on some subjects. Overall I made a C in the class and I only opened the book once. Use the Study Guide PLEASE PPL! Tests use alot of tables/graphs so Study them! Clicker is used for attendance quizzes so be on time!
Dr Amato does the best Ted Kennedy impersonation I ever heard. In high school we had many residents and classmates completely fooled into believing they were talking to Kennedy.
you know how they say it's always that one professor that really makes you think twice about life and who's hard on you, but for all the right reasons this guy is it. great professor, has passion for what he does. class is hard but if you come to class, read the book, and do the study guide it's passable.
This class is no joke by any professor, the good news is Amato is the best prof I've ever had. Your going to work in this class HARD but you'll learn a lot. After talking with other econ majors if you have to take this class take it with Amato in the summer, study hard, go to class, buy the book, and work at it. Trust me he's good and much better
Prof is good at teaching, but rude and condesending when you ask questions. I don't get economics- I'm a chem major, so whenever I would ask him to clarify something he basically called me stupid. Still made an A- I guess I'm not that stupid afterall.
Good Professor, tests are fair if you study all the book questions
I took him for micro econ. I am not a business major so all concepts were new to me. He uses a lot of examples and makes class somewhat enjoyable. clicker quizes daily, online hw weekly. if you don't miss more than 2 classes and score high on the 4 tests you can exempt the final!! i highly recommend this prof!
I really liked Ted a lot. His classes are interesting and have real world usefullness. Tests are moderately difficult, but let us use a not sheet. Highly recommend.
Dr. Amato has been one of the most interesting professors I have ever had. He clearly states his expectations at the beginning of the course, and they do not change. Take his classes!
Very good professor - hard course but made it much easier to understand. Exams were very reasonable.
Professor Amato was amazing. It's true that if you don't attend class, listen to the lectures, or read the book you will fail. Attendance isn't mandatory, but highly recommended (trust me you'll show up just so you can drop your lowest test score). He's amazing, no reason you shouldn't pass.
Yes Economics is common sense, but it's a lot to understand. Mr. Amato is very, very good at explaining everything clearly. There are clicker questions every day and then 3 exams and 1 final. Do good and come every day, you can drop the final! I recommend him, i enjoyed class believe it or not.
guy is very clear, but if you require structure in your learning he is terrible. Tells you to learn everything(7ch at a time) then gives you an 8 Q. essay test with no hints as to what your tested on. Asking questions is a waste of time, and getting an email answer is like finding a unicorn.
Clearly explains subjects. Moves very fast, avoids questions especially about subject importance. Test are terrible, the class should not be taken unless you can memorize 7ch of terms and math every week and a half, b/c he will NEVER help you prepare for a test in any way.
Does not help you prepare for the test in any way whatsoever. He tells you how many questions there are as if that is supposed to help you do better. Does not set you up for success and tests do not accurately reflect what you learned in the course as they are pure memorization
ok i guess. passed with a C but by luck that he tested on what I chose to study. Not that helpful for test preparation or with questions. Probably shouldn't take if you are undergrad. He tends to get irritated when asked to explain in a different way.
Lectures are pretty disorganized, since he has taught this class so many times and assumes you know the material as well as he does. The book is poorly written which makes the class even worse. 1st test is easy. The other two are hard. All multiple choice. Very picky about wording. You will put in a lot of effort, and your grade won't reflect it.
Dr. Amato is excellent. His lectures are organized and clear. Tough but fair. He is extremely dedicated to teaching and it shows that he has a passion for it.
Terrible. Didn't understand from the get go. Only grades are 3 tests, final & clicker questions (attendance kept with these). Tests are very hard. Material is hard to understand. Very, very boring in the way he presents the material. No review/study guides for tests. Made a D & have to retake it now. He is very rude and will call u out for talking.
Probably best teacher I've had at UNCC. I took micro and macro with him. His tests are a little hard, but if you read the book and pay attention in class you'll do well. Do all the homework and show up for class to take the clicker quiz and it will really help your grade. Only thing is he WILL call you out if you talk a lot.
Honestly, I hated going to class. It's super boring and if you don't read the book, you will be absolutely lost. You have to read before class, because he breezes through the info in class like you are suppose to understand everything already. If you are a shy person, you might feel intimidated to ask questions. Has a sarcastic, dry humor personality
The teacher is easy to understand and relates most of the material to real life examples. The tests are almost exact copies of the Connect homework asignments so make sure you memorize those questions. Lastly, you have the option to not take the final if you miss two or less class periods. The class is easy overall and should expect a B with ease.
Are you kidding me? Took his class during the summer. Great lecturer, but expects you to memorize the chapters in order to pass his test. LITERALLY !!! His test are all essays, and gives you no indication of what topics might be on test, hence, memorize every chapter. Got a B, but didnt sleep all semester to get it.
The 1st test is easy and the next 2 tests are super hard but overall good professor. You must read the book to pass the class.
If you don't pass this class with an "A" or at least a "B", something is wrong with you. Exams came straight from lectures/examples in class. Exam 1 might be a little tough but 2 & 3 are super easy. He's also funny :)
Amato is a pretty good prof - very smart, obviously, although he can ramble and get off topic. His tests are tough and if you don't understand a concept in the book, his lectures will clear it up for you. Still, this class is like swimming - you've got to work hard to keep your head up.
DO NOT TAKE. Highly disorganized, to the point of making the students schedule a time outside class time for final presentations. Extremely long and boring lectures, not to mention he's constantly bragging.
Clicker quiz every class. He gives plenty of EASY extra credit. Read the book to understand material better but he explais it pretty well. Tests are just like practice tests on moodle. Notes are on moodle. Hard to fail tbh
Only teaches using graphs..... You have to be a visual learner to do well in this classes. Awful teaching style
Dr. Amato is one of the better teachers Ive had. I really learned a lot and I definetly recommend. If you miss 1 or less days you don't have to take final. Tests are 50q MC and come straight from the Homework. I will most likely get an A. Read the book, it helps. Coming to class is essential ! Take this professor if you want to learn get an A!
Dr. Amato is a great professor who knows a lot about Economics. I will warn you that the graphs can be overwhelming if you are not a visual learner, but he is always there to help you if you need further explanation. You must do the reading to be successful on the quizzes. Great professor, fairly easy course. Go to class, it pays off.
Took this class during the summer, I got an A but barely. Daily readings since its a summer class which is pretty much required since they're clicker questions every day. Do the readings and the homework because everyone did terrible on test 3 and it helped me stay in the A range. Don't be lazy! Good luck!!!
One of the best professors in the MBA and my favorite class.
Dr. Amato is a great professor. He isn't easy, but he knows his stuff and has a great sense of humor. As long as you show up to class and pay attention, he'll be a big help.
Dr. Amato really cares about his students. He's an intelligent man who enjoys having good conversations with many students.
Dr. Amato is an engaging and extremely knowledgeable professor. I am glad to have had him for my micro-economics course!
Dr Ted Amato is a great professor, his classes very interactive and examples are real world. First Test usually sets high expectation for the students and successive tests continue to hold the expectation but will be provided lot opportunity to improve.
Great professor. Willing to explain topics in detail in class. He does repeat some examples, but it helps concepts stick for exams and connecting topics.
Amato is a great professor! He gives real world examples and is always willing to help. Class is heavily math based but tests are similar to homework problems. He also allows a cheat sheet on exams which is helpful for the formulas.
Dr. Amato is a great Econ professor! He is the reason I declared economics. Makes every lecture easy to understand and gives real life examples to get concepts to stick. I would recommend doing the homework several times because they are similar to the tests.
It's a hard class, but Dr. Amato does everything he can to help his students. He can be forgetful/disorganized at times, and does occasionally ramble, but overall the content is clear. All exam questions are based on the practice problems he has you work on and he allows a one page "non-cheat sheet" for the tests.
I had Professor Amato for Game Theory and he was honestly the best professor I've ever had. He is caring about his students and passionate about many topics. The class was somewhat hard but if you attend class you will do fine, the reading always helps, too. Tests are based off homework. Made the final optional for this semester. 10/10
His homework had unlimited attempts and he was very understanding with everything happening with COVID.
All of his projects have no description so you're screwed unless you know someone who took his class previously. He doesn't put anything into canvas so if you have a tough time remembering things, you will forget when homework is due. His lectures are boring and are difficult to pay attention to. If you're not in honors take someone else
I really liked Dr. Amato. The only thing I found to be troublesome was the final group project. The project was very vague and we had to remind him about deadlines he put in his syllabus. However, he truly cares for his students and is a great professor. The lectures were made very interesting especially for economics, which is typically boring.
Dr. Amato is a very intelligent individual and a great person I am sure however, your grade within this course (MBAD 6112) will be based on only three tests and one group project. The tests also mimic written practice problems however, will be made significantly more difficult. It is a lecture heavy course and he is a tough tough grader.
One of the best professors in the MBA program. I learned a lot. Tests were hard but fair.
Great lectures, easy homework, and fair tests.
Truly a good professor. He is lecture heavy but he makes jokes and likes to interact. The material is pretty easy to understand if you read and listen. Exams were completely online and taken at home. The class was pretty easy but also very interesting. He is a really good professor who cares and is very knowledgeable.
Professor Amato is great! One of the best professors for any class I have taken in college so far. Always do the homework and test prep and you will do great!
He is lecture heavy and likes to interact with students. Exams were completely online. The only thing I dislike is that you do not know what grade you have in his class until the end of the semester. FINAL EXAM IS OPTIONAL.
Professor Amato is a caring professor who always looks for the best in his students. Every day you take a Poll Ev for attendance and that's counted toward your overall grade. His grade totals are disabled so you have to calculate it yourself which can be tough. If you interact during lectures and stay on top of homework, it's a great class.
Microeconomics was super easy! He is a super nice professor too, very kind and caring of all. I took his class on zoom, and the first 15 minutes of class was a PollEverywhere, which was graded. But, you still got half credit for doing the question even if you got it wrong and they barely affect your grade. Take his class if you have the chance!
I took Dr. Amato's micro class in the mid-2000s. I was inspired by his teaching and took all of his classes. He deeply cared about the course material and his students. Dr. Amato is the reason I later pursued a graduate degree and career in economics. One of the most interesting, inspiring, and caring professors from my college experience.
Dr Amato is amazing! He is hilarious in lectures and gives real world examples. Attendance is graded when opting out of the final, tests are online open book remote as well as homework. Definitely recommend!
Professor Amato is a caring instructor who makes microeconomics engaging. The class has mandatory attendance, but with Polleverywhere and the free textbook, it's manageable. Unstuck AI was super helpful for study prep - highly recommend giving it a try.
Dr. Amato was a knowledgable and caring guy, and he is passionate about economics. Our class was super unengaged, which upset him a bit at times, but I think he would've been a phenomenal lecturer if the class would've actually engaged back. Despite this, his examples still helped make the content understandable. Tests are remote, and open book.
Overall good guy, just talks the entire class and is boring, but easy.
Professor Amato is a great professor. His class is super easy and straightforward. His lectures at times can be very boring but overall the class was easy and you take all tests online wherever you please.
