simply amazing! he made lab not as much of a living hell
dr. clark is amazing! he is very helpful with the statistics lab, he actually made it make sense!! i would take any class he taught!

Dr. Clark is very demanding. His midterms are difficult and often require complex problem solving. The wording is sometimes obtuse. Averages in his class are typically much lower than those in other comparable classes.
His midterms suck!!! The way he words his tests are really confusing.
Excellent Professor. Was always willing to help students with their questions. Very friendly.
Teaches the material but his tests go beyond your level of comprehension of the material. He makes terrible tests.
HORRIBLE. His Test are completely ridiculout they go past your ability to comprehend. I received an A in every other chemistry class I have taken and got a D in this one. If you can take it with another professor DO. His tests are just ridiculous I read every word of every chapter we went over and passed only one test. Extremely Hard
Tests are nothing like what he teaches in class. Even reading the book I thought the tests were ridiculous. Was a nice guy but would never ever want to take his class again. Chem sucks no matter who teaches it, but Dr. Clark didn't make it any easier.
Horrible! he taught things at such a fast pace I couldn't keep up. I did all the work and read the chapters but apparently that's not good enough. His tests are extremely hard and there is stuff on there that we didn't even cover until two weeks after the exam. He's not fair at all.
amazing teacher!! had lots of examples and lots of different ways to understand material! came prepared and answered every question clearly
Dr. Clark was always willing to answer questions and elaborate. Dr.Clark replaced Dr.Loza for 161 for half the quarter. Midterm was ridiculous. Did not give credit for a problem where 14% of students received a correct answer. Questions poorly worded.
Really nice guy. I loved how he would come and chat with students. However, he teaches from a very conceptual standpoint. He doesn't quite work enough actual problems to back up the material in my opinion and his tests are difficult and wordy. Lectures don't really prepare you well for them. He tries to be helpful though.
His tests were very "down to earth". As long as you pay attention to his lectures, read the chapters, and read the test questions carefully. His tests are not that hard at all, they were not super easy but they were not impossible!
Funny but moves quickly
Clark is not a bad guy. Tests are wordy, and often have very ambiguous questions. Attend lectures, as there is always a question or two on the exams that were only covered in lecture.
Dr Clark was nice at first but towards the end he seemed to get lazy. His lectures were boring and the way he taught was super unclear. You have to read the textbook to be able to do anything and to do his ridiculous reading quizzes that dont help you at all. During finals, when all other teachers gave exam reviews and sample tests, Clark did not.
Does not give good tests. I aced advanced chemistry in high school and got Ds after studying my butt off on the exams. He is a nice guy but does not really help you out in lecture and he asks you to answer questions on exams above the knowledge he teaches you in lecture.
He is a really nice guy, but moves too quickly and is not clear about what he is teaching. In class and going over the review problems you think oh i know what I am doing he has prepared me well, but when you receive the exam you feel very unprepared . He could use his time teaching us and going over examples rather than cutting class short.
Dr. Clark is a funny guy, but it seems as though he doesn't want to extensively help during office hours. Lecture is also not helpful at times. Exams are similar in difficulty to other professors, but the material is taught worse by Clark. If you like ambiguity, this is your guy.
Pretty boring lecturer, especially if you have the 8 AM lecture. I feel like he wasn't too interested in helping students pass the course. I spoke with multiple people who emailed him with questions, and he just blew them off with vague replies. Exams are very unclear, and included questions on material that we only touched base on.
The way he tried to teach his class did not work well. I had a very difficult time understanding the concepts and preparing for the midterms and the final.
Dr. Clark seemed like he would be a great lecturer. At first, he was conceptual and easy-going but expected mathematical work on exams not covered in class. He is not usually helpful when emailed. Although I am sure he is an intelligent chemist, his rarely helpful reading quizzes and lack of instruction do not help prepare for his difficult exams.
The class is challenging no matter what professor you have, but in comparing Dr. Clark to some of the other Chem professors I think he's one of the better teachers. He goes a bit fast material wise, but there's always help if you need it.
His tests do have ambiguous questions, but he is extremely helpful and in my experience is indeed a great teacher. Make sure you attend EVERY lecture as there are exam questions not covered in the textbook. But most importantly, READ EVERY PAGE OF THE TEXTBOOK AND DO THE RECOMMENDED PRACTICE PROBLEMS! They seriously help so much.
He is the best Chemistry professor here! He is a great lecturer and answers questions perfectly. He is funny! His exams are difficult but Chemistry in general is! His only downfall is that he is a M!ch!gan fan! :(
Dr. Clark is a good professor who loves what he teaches. I was bad in chemistry to start with, so the class was difficult for me. Office hours helped a lot, especially if you catch him when he is alone. He is also flexible at arranging meetings if you can't make office hours.
Dr. Clark is the best, if not of the best, gen chem teachers at OSU. Lectures are valuable -- when I skipped them and only read the book my grades tanked. He often emphasizes different things than the textbook. His exams are very difficult but A's and B's are doable when you do the recommended homework questions.
Pr. Clark was a great teacher for gen Chem. Although he went a bit fast through lectures his knowledge was apparent and he was extremely friendly and willing to help whenever. I would definitely recommend his Chem class over all others.
While the content of the class is a little difficult and the pace is somewhat quick, I found Dr. Clark to be super helpful in his office hours and emails. And the lectures were very informative, if you actually pay attention.
Excellent and caring prof. It helps to do the reading before lectures. Clark is very helpful in office hours, especially if you go in with questions regularly (not only just before the midterms). His practice midterms are very helpful so do them. Also, redo the Mastering Chem assignments or the problems at the end of the chapter for extra practice.
Dr. Clark is an awesome guy. He genuine loves teaching and offers his time to help his students. Exams aren't surprising if you study the practice midterms he sends out. He does move a little fast, but not ridiculously faster than any other chem lecturer. Funny in a corny type of way. I would take him again if I had the chance!
He is corny but he genuinely cares about you learning the material. His exams are more difficult, but he gives a pretty good indicator of whats going to be on the exams by sending out a practice exam beforehand. STUDY THOSE! If you arent understanding something, visit his office hours, or make an appt. He is always willing to help you learn topics.
An all around good instructor.
Dr. Clark is an all around good professor. Yes, Chemistry at OSU is hard, and you will have to do the work in order to get a good grade, however, Dr. Clark gives you the tools to be successful. You MUST attend lecture because he goes into detail about concepts that are not discussed well in the book, and the homework is a must in order to practice
Study the practice exams like crazy!! If you don't understand something, go to office hours and he will take as much time it takes until you understand it. The online homework is good practice. I didn't open the book once
Dr. Clark is extremely helpful, cares about our grades, and somehow makes sure everyone in the huge gen chem lectures understands the material. do NOT skip lectures. his practice midterms are GREAT, just like the tests, and his recitation activities are easy and helpful.
Chemistry 1210 is super hard, but Clark was one of the best chemistry teachers I've ever had. He's so helpful and he's hilarious! His lectures are so interesting and never boring and he gives a lot of practice midterms to help you along the way. Definitely recommend him as a teacher!
The way he creates Mastering Chemistry multiple choice questions are horrible and astoundingly terrifying. He gives a lot of 50-50 questions and if you choose the wrong answer you get a 0%! How does this reflect your knowledge? Tests are hard as hell!
An intriguing and entertaining lecturer! I really enjoyed his classes though the tests were largely conceptual and tough for me. The key is to attend every lecture and definitely go to his office hours.
Always enjoyed going to lecture. His tests are hard but he gives you everything you need to be successful. Study hard and the class isn't bad at all.
He provided a lot of help, practice midterms etc. He uses mastering chemistry which is annoying. His tests were unfair asking questions about history and such that doesn't apply to my knowledge of chemistry as an engineer. He sometimes makes mistakes in lecture that he didn't get called out on and made things confusing at times.
*Disclaimer: I got a 92 raw score before a pretty big curve (at least 4-5%)* Dr. Clark is a great guy and I love his audience participation in his lectures. However, his tests are extremely conceptual and has curveballs like history. The average test grades went lower every time from 75-high 60s-low 60s-60%(final). FOLLOW HIS LECTURES!!!
Nice guy who's funny, but typical OSU chemistry. The tests are pretty tough, even if you have taken chemistry before. Mastering Chemistry assignments are annoying and can sometimes be tedious if you can't figure out the answer, but usually the answers are on Google. Would take again, probably a lesser of the evils in the Chem department.
Does not give quizzes during recitation, but the recitation assignments are required. The midterms and final are hard though. Clark focuses more on the theories behind chemistry rather than the math behind it.
Exams are very history based. Trick questions galore. Don't have this professor if you get the choice. Goes over example problems in class. Mc exams. Do well on labs and hw and go to recitation to balance any bad exams. Thinks a 65% avg is "good" so be ready to be babied through the work and butchered on exams. Very helpful if you ask questions.
Dr. Clark is the reason I passed Chem 1210 at Ohio State. He is fair and a great lecturer. You don't need to read the book just take notes in class and know the material on his power points. The only bad thing I have to say is he likes theoretical question and history of chemistry so look for a few of those types to show up on midterms.
I liked Dr. Clark as a person, but not as a teacher. His exams are very conceptual. I wouldn't recommend taking his class if you are more of a math person when it comes to chemistry. His office hours were very helpful though!
tough grader
Awful class, awful labs, but I loved Dr. Clark. I think the class itself was just painful, but he was funny and enjoyable. Chemistry at OSU is just something you want to avoid altogether (coming from somone who got a 5 on AP Chem and didn't even have to take this class)
The exam questions are tough. Don't bother reading the book because all of the information on the exams are on the powerpoints, which are very detailed and full of examples.
Dr. Clark is one of the best Chemistry professors for students who are visual learners. He uses many simulations in lectures that help you observe what you're learning about. He has classes that are exciting and engaging. I actually attend his 1220 lecture now in addition to my own because I couldn't get into his lecture this semester.
Dr. Clark is very likable and presents the information very clearly in the lecture. The tests are unbelievably difficult as he really likes the trick questions. He likes history of chemistry, so be prepared for that too. He is friendly and loves to joke around with the students. I suggest him over anybody in the Chemistry department at OSU.
Dr. Clark is by far my favorite professor here. He is not only willing to help, but it willing to listen and understand your questionsconcerns. He makes chemistry fun to learn and always has a joke or two for each lecture.
Dr. Ted Clark? If you don't know who he is, picture the real life version of GTA 5's Trevor with a little less guns and a lot more liquid nitrogen. His tests are the equivalent of trying to complete a 250 piece puzzle in one hour whilst chugging a gallon of milk. However, he will be your Opera and will truly inspire you. BEST chem professor at OSU.
Did not like him one bit. His test are extra hard and boring lectures.
Clark is a great guy, his lectures aren't for everyone though. He likes to have discussions in lecture, which I wasn't a huge fan of. Homework and practice exams are really helpful, and reading the book is a must to do well on his exams. His exams are hard, and often have multiple trick questions, but I think he's one of he best in the department.
I thought his exams were inconsistent in terms of difficulty. I stayed above the class average in all the midterms and then bombed the final. I found the conceptual questions to be confusing since I relate to the math part of Chemistry more. He doesn't really give out much resources to help prepare for exams either. He's approachable though.
Great professor who teaches the material thoroughly -- wonderful class
This is a very tough class but Dr. Clark makes the lectures very interesting. He is a professor who's tests are mainly conceptual instead of calculations so beware. In his lectures he very frequently put up questions and told us to converse with our peers which was helpful most of the time but sometimes so frequent it was frustrating.
Ted Clark is an amazing man. He's always very stylish, and I love his lectures. Visual learners will have a lot of great input from him, as he does a lot of examples in class and a lot of simulations. He's one of the funnier teachers I've had my whole life, and his office hours are always worth the wait. I definitely recommend taking his CHEM 1210.
Chemistry is super hard; dont take it if you don't have to. And keep in mind there is a lower, easier chem you can take! If you have to take 1210 though 10/10 times I would recommend Professor Clark he's hilarious and helpful I just hate Chemistry.
Does a very good job preparing for the midterms and finals. Class is kinda difficult but no more so than any other lecturer. Explains concepts very well and backs them up with demonstrations. Lots of class participation is encouraged.
Funny lecturer and engaging. Wants you to participate in lectures. But it is chem and at ohio state it still hard. But clark is one of the best 1210 teachers
Clark is one of the best chemistry teachers at OSU. The tests are difficult but he will make sure you are prepared for each exam and is clear on what he expects his students to be able to do. Chemistry is difficult no matter who you have as a professor but Clark will make sure that you understand the concepts well enough to succeed in the class.
Clark is one of the best professors in the Chemistry department. Chemistry at OSU is HARD, so be prepared, but he will give you all of the material you need to know, but it is on you to actually learn it. He loves conceptual questions and history. This class will be hard no matter what, but he is such an interesting guy. Highly recommend him
Dr. Clark is extremely conceptual. It's important to really understand the underlying concepts in the material to do well on his tests because they're extremely concept-based as well. He's tough but fair and he responds to emails quickly. He also has a great quirky sense of humor.
Ted Clark is an amazing professor. He makes chemistry interesting and he helps students to clearly understand the concepts.
Good guy. Lectures are fine but long. If you study the notes and take advantage of office hours, you will be fine. DO NOT MISS A CLASS. He has notes on his site but in all honesty are you going to check them after a long day of classes
Tests are very much based on concepts - but when the tests Did have math on them, they were the type of questions that required you to do the math for each answer choice to figure out which answer was correct. Lots of online HW (uses Mastering Chemistry) - it's graded with limited tries. But not to worry, the HW is only 70 points out of 1,000.
Chem is hard. Clark is the bomb, though. Very helpful lecture that I actually felt was useful and helped me understand what was going on. Read, people. Read and outline. Read it again. Ask questions. Do practice problems. Work and you will be okay. I also heard his office hours were good, though I never went.
Clark is a really great professor and person in general. Very funny and makes the Lectures interesting. Tests are pretty difficult and mostly conceptual but do-able. I was a little disappointed in the lack of a curve this semester, which I didn't think was a possibility.
Dr. Clark was an a great professor. I could not have hoped for a better professor for my first semester of chemistry. He is very good at explaining concepts, and definitely tries to keep the lectures interesting. He was very entertaining and kept our class laughing. I would recommend him to anyone wanted to succeed. Still requires effort and work.
I really liked Dr. Clark's class and he was always available for help. I thought the class was pretty challenging and had to do a lot of extra work outside of lecture and the online homework. It gets easier once you understand how to study for his tests which are pretty conceptual. I would definitely recommend Dr. Clark if you have to take 1210.
Ted is an awesome professor. His midterms are insanely difficult, but the final was a breeze compared to the midterms. He made lectures fun, and you have to go if you want to do well in the class. If you skip class, you will suffer the consequences later. I am taking 1220 with Ted next semester because I really enjoyed 1210 with him.
I loved Dr. Clark so much, even though I hated Chemistry. I really believe that he is the best professor for chem that you could take at Ohio State. He is a great lecturer, and so helpful if you ever need it. His tests are very difficult, but the new final is so much easier compared to midterms. If you put in the time and effort, you will succeed.
His lectures are interesting and Dr. Clark is very funny but I also found him very confusing and felt the material covered in class was not comparable to the difficulty of the tests. His tests are VERY hard and have very low class averages.
Dr. Clark's lectures were key to doing well in this course. He explained the content very clearly and provided additional details that couldn't be found in the book or determined purely by looking at the presentation slides on Carmen. He was very helpful at office hours, and although his tests were hard, he was very fair with grading.
Prof Clark is there to help his students succeed. The lectures can be confusing and boring and the tests are difficult. However, I took AP chem in high school and the 1210 was not very hard at all. The tests are a very large part of your grade and make a big difference (only reason I got an A-). He is worth taking over other professors.
The class is very difficult. You can get by if you don't go to lecture as long as you know your stuff. Dr. Clark will always help you if you go to his office hours. His tests are killer and tricky. Really nice and funny dude though, I enjoyed the class despite it being so hard.
Dr. Clark is honestly a great teacher. I hated chemistry for the most part because of the stress it caused me but props to this dude for making an otherwise terrible experience slightly more tolerable. Class is still hard, though, obviously.
His class is more conceptual than others but he teaches it in a way that makes you understand it.
After taking AP Chem, I can still say that this class was still pretty challenging. Dr. Clark's lectures were generally pretty interesting, though he requires you to "discuss with the person next to you" a little too often. I've heard that he is really kind and helpful in his office hours, but I personally didn't need to attend them.
In my opinion the best of all the Chem 1210 and 1220 professors. I built my entire schedule around making sure I got into his class for both. He's such a dork and loves what he's teaching which makes his lectures interesting. He's very engaging by proposing questions and then letting you talk about it with the people around you.
Dr. Clark is a phenomenal professor who knows his chemistry inside and out. He gives plenty of opportunities to participate in class and really see what you know instead of just giving out answers. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs to take 1220. Chemistry is a difficult subject but Dr. Clark's class is conducive to learning.
He graduated from Michigan... He brags about it in Class.... I was very confused when he tried to explain things. Very inconsistent and scatterbrained. Some students love him. I Don't like him. This course is programmed to weed out students. If you receive a bad grade its normal. The 10% who get an A is all they want, everyone else is a $$$.
I enjoyed having Clark, but I must admit that I didn't get to know him too well since I only went to a couple of lectures (I should have been in Chem 1220). He's knowledgeable, funny, and clear, but his tests are meh. They are extremely abstract, conceptual questions that you won't see from other chem profs or classes. I'd still recommend him.
Clark will literally give you the best lecture you've ever had. He's an all around amazing guy and I would go to his office hours just because he's such a cool dude and I wanted to know him more. However, his exams are HARD, even if you study. It's chem at Ohio State, it's always going to be hard. But Clark makes it fun
Dr. Clark is easily the best Chemistry professor I've had at Ohio State. He cares about connecting with as many students as possible. I found myself understanding concepts in his class that I hadn't understood in previous courses. His exams are a deal easier than those of other professors, but this also leads to a higher average and a smaller curve
Dr. Clark is hands down the best professor I have had here at tOSU. He really cares about his students grasping the concepts and does everything he can in order to help make the material more easily understood. He is very straightforward and will tell you from the beginning, if you do the work for the class, then you will succeed.
Dr. Clark is an excellent instructor who really seems to care about students. However, the course is set up to have lots of online homework and his tests are extremely difficult and there is no curve. Most of the questions require deductive reasoning more so than chemistry knowledge and they often go above and beyond the material in the book.
Full of himself and thinks that his way is the only way to do things and tell you how good he was at things when he's just meant to be teaching the content not telling us about how good he was in school.
Dr. Clark has some of the harder tests in the chem department, and loves his concepts. His tests have very little math, but really test hard on your understanding of the conceptual parts of chemistry. He's super nice and energetic, and his tests are probably the most like the standardized chem final. Wish I would've had him for 1220 as well.
Dr. Clark is my favorite professor I've ever had. He makes lectures enjoyable, and he really engages his students. His tests are very hard because they're so abstract, but once you learn how to study for them you can succeed. It is extremely important that you read the book thoroughly for this class.
Dr. Clark was one of my favorite professors this year. He makes his lectures interesting and tries his best to relate everything back to real-life examples. His tests are pretty conceptual, with averages usually around 70-75 (which isn't uncommon for Chemistry). Definitely going to lectures and taking notes from the textbook were necessary.
Dr. Clark is hands down the most caring professor I have ever had. He makes class enjoyable, cracking jokes, and truly wants students to do well. He taught me actually how to learn and study, and for that, I will be forever grateful. He is funny, caring, and smart af. Take him.
Overall I really liked Dr. Clark as a person and lecturer. He was very easy to reach out to and I would highly recommend talking to him in person if you are struggling. The hardest part is by far the tests. If you are more of a calculations person like myself, the tests do not work in your favor and you will heavily rely on lab carrying your grade.
His tests are extremely challenging, and are heavy on conceptual problems. If you're more of a math-based learner, this class is going to be very difficult, and you will be leaning on your lab scores to carry your grade. (Better hope you get a good lab TA...)However, his lectures were fine and he seemed to care a lot about his students.
Dr. Clark really is a great guy. His lectures go in depth and he explains concepts very well while still being interesting. He's a very funny guy and he cares about his students and teaching Chemistry. His tests are very conceptual, but if you read the book ahead of time and take good notes you will be fine.
Dr. Clark is a legend. As long as you put forth the effort and attend every lecture, the content is easy to understand and the test aren't unreasonable, albeit a little tricky. However, he provides a ton of practice tests for each midterm and the final, and truly cares about teaching. An all-around great guy.
Chemistry sucks but Clark made me love going to his lectures. He is really funny/quirky/nerdy and it helped me pay attention. Make sure you read your material before going to class and print off his notes. Midterms are tricky but the final is easy.
Dr. Clark is a good professor, but his class is quite challenging. He likes to ask a lot of conceptual questions on exams and I am more of a math-based person so I really struggled in that area. However, I feel like I still learned the material and was prepared for Chem 1220.
Views more heavily on conceptual things rather than the math to it.
Clark is a very good professor and I would highly recommend him as your first time gen chem professor. He's very conceptual and will teach as students haven't learned chem before. Some exam questions can be difficult but overall, the average in any gen chem course will be a C. You really gotta work to get a better grade. Recitation and lab helps.
Hard exams compared to the easy final. Very accessible during office hours, online homework, labs every week and lab reports take a long time. Make sure you get a good lab TA
He's a really nice guy, tries to make lectures as fun and engaging as possible. Really cares about the success of his students, but his exams are really hard.
Very nice guy who truly cares about students. Im miserable at chemistry and even I didn't it find unbearable. The exams can be hard but he gives plenty of exam resources and even writes you emails afterwards telling you what to work on. The lecture notes are online. He welcomes questions and answers them very well. Final grade is curved!
I loved Dr. Clark. He does everything in his power to help students learn how to succeed in his class. He is more concept heavy than the other profs which some think makes his class more difficult. I preferred it because there was less memorization and I learned way more. Very sad I couldn't have him both semesters of chem. Definitely, take him!
I had Ted Clark in AU2015 for FEH Chem 1210 which is no different than regular Chem 1210 besides more A students. He explained the content very well and he is one of the best profs in the chem dept.
Dr. Clark is a great professor! In lectures, he explains the material well and wants students to ask questions. He gives his students many materials to help prepare for tests and is extremely approachable. The Chemistry Dept. at Ohio State hold chemistry to a very high standard, but Dr. Clark strives to make it more manageable for everyone.
Dr. Clark is a great professor. His lectures are engaging, and he explains the materials in a clear manner. He really wants his students to succeed, and is very encouraging. His class is not an easy A like any other science classes at OSU, but he definitely makes the process a lot easier. I would highly recommend him!
Although Gen Chem 1 at OSU was extremely hard, Dr. Clark made the class much more bearable. I specifically chose him as my professor for Gen Chem 2
Dr. Clark is an amazing professor. He makes the more complicated concepts of general chemistry much more simple. His lectures help a lot, I recommend not skipping lecture! He is very much so willing to help students when they don't understand something. Overall, I really enjoyed having him as a professor.
Disclaimer: I had this man for a week before an unexpected schedule change. From three lectures, my impression of him is phenomenal. He's super knowledgeable, he really cares about your learning, he's good at breaking things down, and he's an incredibly engaging professor. My friends who stayed in his section said the tests were hard but doable.
Ted Clark was an amazing teacher. He made Gen Chem interesting, and I always found myself looking forward to his lectures. I would take his class again in a heartbeat.
Read and go to lectures. Read because Chem 1910 and Clark both go really fast. Clark also talks about certain things that aren't discussed indepth in the textbook but will be on the exam. Also he doesn't give out review materials before midterms and finals. He's an ideas type of guy which I enjoyed but it does make some of his questions really hard
he wears flannels and also teaches chem good. Also go to lecture because he is hilarious, a wonderful man, a skilled lecturer, a helpful giver of feedback, and an all around quality dude. Did I mention he wears flannels?
After finishing with a C- in this class having Dr. An Coe, Dr. Clark is the best Chem Professors at OSU. He keeps you engaged my making chemistry interesting in any way that he can from funny memes to hilarious anecdotes. Hes a great guy all around and he makes this hard course seem easy becaause he is a great teacher!
Clark was a great professor! He always had great lectures and was always available outside of class. Attending lecture is extremely important though in order to get a good grade. Definitely prepares you for the exams.
Dr. Clark is easily my favorite professor at OSU. He really does a good job explaining the material in lectures and keeps it interesting, even for a full hour and 20 minute lecture. Take him if you can!
He is very good at conveying overall concepts. His class wasn't too hard, but I feel it didn't prepare me well for my future chemistry class. The first exam was graded very easily and then the final was graded completely the opposite.
Dr. Clark was an incredible professor. He made lectures fun enough to stay awake and interested in. He's always willing to answer questions during, after, or outside of class. Promptly responded to emails and was very caring and accommodating to personal emergencies or issues. Highly recommend!
Great lectures. His review sessions were particularly helpful, especially for the final.
Clark is AMAZING! After having a terrible lecturer for chem1, I can assure you Clark is the real deal. He makes difficult concepts so much easier & hes a pretty funny guy. I actually didnt find the concepts or the class any harder than chem 1 thanks to Clark. If youre taking this class, take it with Clark!
I started going to his lectures b/c my actual prof was terrible, and I was rewarded beyond belief. His lectures are engaging and really get to the root of understanding the material, which is crucial for exams. He is incredibly caring and does everything (reasonable) within his control to ensure his students succeed.
Dr. Clark is literally the best professor at Ohio State. If you have to take gen chem, try to get into his class. He cares so much about his students and wants everyone to get good grades. I've never had a professor reach out to see if there's anything he can do to help. One of the best people/teachers I've ever met!
Hes pretty good would recommend
Dr. Clark is probably the best professor I've ever had. He is very passionate about helping students succeed in his class. It would be very beneficial to go to his office hours as he tells you exactly how to study for the exam. Exams were very tricky so be prepared to not only read, but understand the textbook and lecture concepts inside and out.
Attend lecture with Dr. Clark: he keeps things interesting, he looks like Trevor from Grand Theft Auto, and his deprecating humor is actually funny. He knows how to relate to students, and makes his material challenging though accessible. I highly recommend him for inorganic chemistry. I'd say the exams were average difficulty.
Really great at explaining the topics, obviously knows the material really well. Very accessible outside of class for extra help.
Best professor at Ohio State. I couldnt imagine a better professor for gen chem at OSU. You can definitely tell that he genuinely cares about his students. He is also great at responding to emails in a timely manner. Extremely accessible outside of the classroom. He truly prepares you for what will be on the exam. But get ready for a lot of work!
Funny and genuine, great lecturer. Understands you get tired in lecture. Explains concepts patiently and clearly.
Dr. Clark was amazing, but the tests were very difficult. However, if you read the chapters and do the practice questions, you should easily pass the class. Lab reports help bring your grades up.
Chemistry 1210 was a very difficult class, but Ted Clark made me more prepared for exams. He keeps lecture very interesting and is a very nice person. I wish I could take him again for 1220. He doesn't make the recitation TAs give quizzes so that is a huge plus. My final grade was not too good, but it would be a lot worse without Ted Clark.
Dr. Clark is one of my favorite professors I've had. He really works hard to make sure lectures are engaging, and he is always more than willing to help students with any concept.
I loved Dr. Clark. He made lectures interesting and was super helpful during office hours. He also makes connections between real-life scenarios and the concepts being taught to make the material more tangible. I'd recommend everyone take Dr. Clark for gen chem if they have the option.
Ted Clark was the best chemistry professor/teacher I have ever had. He makes class easy to understand and really enjoyable. He does fun experiments while in class and is overall amazing. He taught the major chemistry course (1610) which I took so try to get into that if you can.
I was so nervous about taking this notoriously difficult class, especially considering Chem1210 is full of pre-meds and I hadn't even taken AP Chem in high school. Having Dr. Clark as a professor was an absolute blessing. He is a clear, funny, interesting instructor who completely renewed my passion for Chemistry. Best professor for a hard class.
Dr. Clark is THE best prof I've had here at OSU. The course is difficult but he definitely prepares you for the exams and makes himself available whenever you need him outside of class. He is a teacher first and a researcher second, so he is committed to his students. He also sits on the committee that makes the exams, so he knows what to expect
Ted Clark is a really good chemistry professor. His lecture notes are organized well and made to be engaging and interesting. Exams are kind of tricky because they are all multiple choice. The practice exams provided were really good study material for the exams. About 1220, labs and lab reports suck; stay on top of them because lab grades hurt.
The best professor I have had at OSU. His lectures are super useful and enjoyable. The lab portion of the class takes a lot of time, but it is only worth 20% and the rest is basically tests. There is a nice curve at the end too. Overall, this is one of the best classes to take if you have to take a chemistry class.
Prof. Clark is such an amazing human, his lectures were always informative and entertaining, and he genuinely cares about his students success. His review lectures were always the most helpful for me and his practice exams are really what guaranteed my success in the class. For such a challenging course and set of topics, I felt well-prepared.
Dr. Clark is the hidden gem of OSUs chem department. He used our online textbook and the homework was always commenting and actively reading which isnt everybodys thing. Hes really engaged in lecture and the smaller class size made him a lot more personable. Dr. Clark is great, the class is just conceptually difficult and my lab TA was AWFUL.
OSU's chemistry department is pretty much universally hated by students. Dr. Clark is an exception. His lectures are thorough and engaging, having Dr. Clark makes you excited to learn chemistry. Not only does he teach the what, he also teaches why and how. He truly wants all students to succeed and actively improves his class to make this possible.
Professor Clark is one of the best professors Ive ever had! His lectures are helpful and although chem is very difficult, he wants to make sure everyone understands and is successful in his class. He is a funny guy who is extremely intelligent, but amazing at teaching people who arent experts. I have no bad things to say about him!
Dr. Clark was an amazing Chem 1210 professor especially with online learning. With Chem 1210 online and Dr. Clark used all of his resources possible to help you be successful. Lectures are not mandatory but are helpful. He also had pre class videos to help you understand the topic a bit before class and brief HW assignments due the day after class.
Made chemistry online kind of fun. Lots of out of lecture work, especially with online lectures. He always makes sure we had all the resources that we needed, you can tell he really cares about students learning the information!
Professor Clark was everything I imagined in a lecturer for a subject such as chemistry. His ability to relate the material we covered during lecture was impeccable. I did not feel as though he dwelled on any topic for too long, which allowed the class to maintain the pace necessary to cover the wide range of topics of this course. Great guy.
Dr. Clark is an awesome professor. Your grade in the class definitely reflects the effort you put in though. That said Dr. Clark is eager and willing to help. CHEM 1210's homework is through the same source as the book and penalizes for wrong answers, and the tests are notoriously rough, but if you study and keep on track you'll be fine.
Dr. Clark was an excellent professor especially for a chemistry course. He really took the time to make good lectures that were easily to follow, as well as taking the time to make extra practice problems outside of class. He was always accessible vis email, even answering one of my questions at 1 am.
dr. clark is amazing! not only a great teacher, but he's also funny and makes the lectures interesting. I only wish class could've been in person - there would've been some cool experiments to see. chem is not easy, but dr. clark is often available for help, and there's a recitation for his class. great prof, kind of difficult but great class.
The course was not easy and it required a lot of work. Generally, the content is not too difficult if you are interested in science, however it is a fast paced class. He gives really good lectures and really gives you everything you need to succeed. Make sure you do all the optional assignments and you will have a much easier time. Plus, hes funny.
If you get Dr. Clark as your prof- count your blessings! He makes the material super engaging and strives to see each student succeed. He never makes you feel dumb- regardless of your question, and his lectures are amazing! Go to class, ask questions, do EVERY assignment, do the suggested review questions, and really engage with the material.
I've been notoriously bad at chemistry for like 3 years, but I finally understand stuff because of Dr. Clark. If you put in the effort in his class, you will come out with a solid understanding of chem 1210 concepts. He made me like the subject I had despised for years, literally the best lecturer ever.
Dr. Clark is a super nice guy but he does the absolute bare minimum in class. He only does one example problem per concept and never goes to a higher level of difficulty. His lectures are an exact copy of the pre class videos so its a waste of time. Exams were very hard and they use the same questions from twenty years ago.
I really liked the way Dr. Clark taught this class. Even though his lectures were confusing sometimes, he definitely want you to get a good grade and will help you if you ask.
Ted Clark is a great professor. He records lectures ahead of class and goes over the information in-depth during actual lecture. Attendance isnt mandatory, but definitely helpful, and he is extremely accessible outside of class. Overall, he is a very caring professor and genuinely wants his students to do well. Take Dr. Clark if you can!
Dr. Clark was an amazing professor. He was so much fun to listen to during lecture and was very thorough with every topic and knew what needed to be covered in order for students to do well on the exams. Be sure to ask him about his experience with glass and how he likes to talk to people in the grocery store about science
3 midterms with 1 final, all extended response theory type questions. Gives great lectures and explanations and is an easy grader as long as you justify your responses. Has a great personality and easy going.
He has pre-lecture videos that are assigned homework (not bad at all) which I liked but chose to do them post lecture for clarification on things. He's very easy to reach and organize a meeting and office hours are well-conducted. Read the textbook, lecture slides aren't enough for the class. Amazing prof though!
Although chem is hard, dr clark does his best to make sure you know the content and will be prepared for the exams. You can tell that he really cares about his students, and wants to help them succeed in the class. I recommend him to everyone
Absolutely love Dr. Clark. I am in his Chem 1210 right now, if you can get him, I'd highly recommend him. He is very easy going and cracks jokes throughout lecture. You can tell he is passionate about chemistry and enjoys teaching others about it. Obviously this is a hard course that takes work. He also has pre-class videos and I think they help.
Dr. Clark is a great guy, but the course is just too tough. It is really hard to get an A and I think that an honors class like chemistry should have the majority of students getting an A, not a B. The content is also a bit scattered and it can be difficult to show him that you know what you're doing. A fantastic educator but really hard course.
Definitely passionate about his lectures. Soooo homework heavy, have something due every night. Tests are hard and don't make a lot of sense. Maybe that's the chem department's fault tho. He explains the material well, but after a while, it all just sounds monotone and blends into one big information dump. Funny guy tho.
Definitely knowledgeable and a great guy. The material is very difficult as well as the exams.
I had Dr. Clark for both 1910H (A) and 1920H. Through both my ups and downs, Dr. Clark was always there to help. Undoubtably, the honors chemistry sequence is arduous, but Dr. Clark truly cares about student success and caters his class to this. I have nothing but good to say about him, and I would highly recommend. Work hard and you will succeed!
Dr. Clark is a great chemistry professor. He is passionate about STEM education, and goes above and beyond to make sure material is relevant and useful for research and industry. The class is hard, but if you put in the effort you will learn a lot. He also makes sure to focus on understanding concepts as well as computations.
I love chemistry but professor Clark managed to make me hate it for an entire semester. The material is easy enough but the grading is strange as he doesn't provide any feedback on exams--he doesn't even write your final score on the exam. There's no way to know what you did and did not get right and it gets incredibly frustrating.
Dr. Clark is a great lecturer, and a personable and funny professor. He truly makes an effort to help each student understand the material and will adjust to students' needs and is very flexible. There is 30-60 minutes of reading due before every lecture, but it is necessary to understand the content. Definitely get Dr. Clark if you can!
Dr. Clark is easily one of the best in the chem department. He is amazing at explaining concepts and always willing to answer questions. If you enjoy chemistry, as long as Dr. Clark teaches 1910H, you should take it over 1210/1610. The course material is interesting and applicable to the real world; it is taught by a personable human being.
Ted Clark genuinely cares about you succeeding in his course. Although the material and tests were not the easiest, he provides office hours almost every day and has even been willing to meet outside of those scheduled times to accommodate his students.
I would follow this man to the ends of the world.
Amazing professor! I genuinely loved the class and was very easy going and engaging. I learned a lot and I thoroughly enjoyed it. While it was hard at times, he always makes sure that you understand the material and is always there for questions.
Dr. Clark is a great professor. Chemistry is not my best subject, but he made it a bit easier to understand. His lectures were kind of long but had lots of material. He also sent us evaluations after our midterms with good constructive criticism.
This class is HARD. No matter what professor you get, this class will be extremely difficult if you do not dedicate every day to it. However, Dr. Clark is one of the best professors to get. I absolutely hated this class and have nothing good to say about the chem department, but if you are willing to work Dr. Clark will help you.
Great professor, answers a ton of student's questions. Can't go wrong with Clark or the rest of the chemistry professors, all are good. Lecture heavy, but he provides breaks during lecture
The class material itself is generally pretty difficult. You definitely need to attend lecture and participate when doing practice problems, he does an excellent job at showing how to apply the information in lecture on homework and exams. He has a lot of research in chemistry education strategies so he really knows how to explain it to students.
Really nice professor, however he makes this class extremely difficult and more confusing than necessary. Exams were very difficult even though I would study for hours on end. He is quick to respond to emails and any questions you have which is a plus.
This is the best professor to have if you are taking chemistry. He cares a lot about how each student does and does a lot of in class participation. If you stay on top of the homework you will have no problem keeping up and doing well in the class. He also gives so so many different resources to utilize, more than other professors
Very caring and funny Professor, genuinely enjoys doing what he does and has a very affective teaching method of group work. If you take his class go to lecture and get some friends to participate in group discussion.
As far as chem professors go I really liked Dr. Clark. He's a very nice guy and very easy to talk to with questions about the material. I attended his office hours several times and he would always make printouts of the notes we took and help us work through whatever problems we were having. I hated the class itself but he was a good professor.
Dr. Clark is an amazing professor and discusses topics clearly and thoroughly in lecture. It is important to go to class because he teaches very engagingly and encourages students to discuss He spends more time on the topic's students most struggle with and he holds his lectures at a good pace. He is extremely helpful and lighthearted in lecture.
He is a good lecturer and kept us awake during our evening class. It was easy to meet him outside of class and he is very understanding if you are having trouble with the content. He is easy-going and an interesting person to be around/get to know.
The class itself was extremely difficult but it's hard to distinguish what was made hard by Prof. Clark and what was made hard by the Chemistry Department itself. For what it's worth, I though Prof Clark did an overall good job, although there were times where he wouldn't project what he was saying so it was hard to understand and easy to tune out.
Clark is awesome. Lectures are clear and interesting and made me want to get up at 7AM every day. He is super funny and chill and I understood everything he was doing/talking about in class because he made it easy to understand. W professor and super chill when I asked questions after class. Practice question were very helpful for exams too.
Professor Clark is passionate and engaging, though the class material can be very challenging. Staying on top of the homework is crucial. For study help, consider using unstuck ai alongside the provided resources.
Dr. Clark makes it worth it to wake up for an 8am chem lecture. He explained chemistry topics amazingly and gave digestible study materials. Do not let the early morning lecture scare you out of taking his class!
He was actually so amazing and the reason I woke up at 8am. He explained concepts well and was good at answering questions. He was funny and gave a lot of good resources and tips for studying. Really no homework (outside of textbook problems that he takes for completion) and he was very clear about what concepts and questions would be on the exams.
thank u for getting me to actually enjoy an 8am class ted clark ure a real one
Awesome lectures, very clear about content
Dr Clark was really great. Super caring guy and pretty funny. He uses online slides for his lectures with fill-in notes you can download. Lots of resources for practice. He leads his lectures to give students the best possible environment to learn and practice the content. Also very clear on what will be tested on exams. Huge shoutout to Dr Clark
This class was great! Dr. Clark was a treat to have as a professor and he cared about his work so much that it could intrigue and engage all the students. Beware as he will sometimes randomly call on you due to the outfit you are wearing. Never wear OSU gear when you see him, or else! Other than that, he's great and I would love to have him again.
Grades homework for completion. Gives practice problems that aren't due in a helpful way to understand. Relatable in lecture, does not work to fast.
Dr. Clark is an amazing lecturer! Even though chem lectures can drag, he made them fun with little side tangents and plenty of breaks. He is super accessible with office hours, and I would definitely recommend stopping by just to talk with him.
Very passionate and kind professor. He really wants all students to know the material and hopes for success.
He is a really nice professor. Well but most of grades in this class are coming from exam. He teachs very good but it's not easy to get a good grade on this class.
Professor Clark is the best teacher I've ever had. Super detailed in his lectures, making sure that everyone really understands the material. He does plenty of example problems in class and is very accessible when you have questions. I found myself looking forward to attending lectures because he's so excited to share his knowledge.
I went into this class an atheist and left religious Pick a religion and start praying. Ted Clark himself is kind and caring but the class is not kind and caring. It's super quiz heavy, in lectures he moves past too fast and you need to talk to your neighbor to solve questions. I was a straight A student and now I'm lucky if I get a B. I study sm.
This was a challenging class, but Dr. Clark made it possible to be successful in the course! He was very accessible outside of the classroom. He gets to class 30 minutes early and stays after to answer any questions. I would definitely recommend attending the lectures because it is very helpful to being successful in the course.
Chem 1210: Good professor though I didn't even go to most of the lectures. Gives practice exams before tests, use those. Material is a bit tricky when you first see it but use AI to explain things when unclear. Class is test heavy but study for them and you'll be fine. The notes aren't super helpful, don't bother using them to review.
Dr. Clark is very kind, entertaining, and helpful. Highly recommend attending lectures and completing the practice exams. You can tell he wants his students to succeed and enjoy class!
