Very user friendly; uses real world examples to explain the material. Seeks feedback from students and incorporates the feedback into the class. Expect attendance and doing the assignments to be important. He makes sure you understand the basics and the concepts instead of focusing on unnecessary minutia.
Instead of just lecturing from the textbook, Professor Heldring actually relates the class to the real world. Highly recommend if you want to pursue a career in finance.
I'm not a finance person and not majoring in business, but Professor Heldring makes finance so interesting and relatable to the real world. I leave each class excited for the next. He is awesome and want to take another class with him.
Ted is by far my favorite professor this semester. His fatherly characteristics and dad jokes makes me feel very comfortable in the classroom environment. Uses very relatable examples and is so knowledgable about the subject. Love Professor Heldring. Love finance. Peace Love Ted.
In his first quarter teaching, he's still figuring things out, but he's open to feedback on his teaching style, and makes sure that students have lots of opportunities to ask for help inside and outside of class. He's super enthusiastic about current events, and relates concepts to articles in the WSJ, which definitely makes class more interesting.
This was his first quarter and he was already the best teacher I have had math/accounting/finance wise. He genuinely wants his students to do well and that is shown every class. He gives us study guides, opportunities for extra credit, but also goes through every problem step by step so you actually learn the material. Loved him!!
This man was God's gift to DePauls business core professors. He felt bad that we had the Milo incident, so he gave us Ted. Ted is the man. If you ever have the chance to take any of his classes, you are doing a social injustice by not enrolling. Great teacher, better man
By far, the best professor I've had in business core. He cares and he's super knowledgeable. Told everyone what to expect on tests/quizzes, and offered a decent amount of extra credit. He learned every student's name in a class of 40. Democratic class structure, listened to student input on how to run the homework and quizzes. Highly recommend!
Class is hard but Finance is a hard topic. He brought in a bunch of information that was relevant like Uber, Tesla and Snap going public. Class was fun and he is a great guy.
Great guy, hard class. He made the most out of the class. He's very humorous which made the topic easier. As long as you'll try you will end up with a good grade.
This class can be pretty difficult. He's a nice guy, and always offers opportunities to improve your grade. This is only his 2nd quarter teaching, I think the class will improve with time. he tells you exactly what's on the tests so just do the practice problems over and over. he is very generous towards the end and provides a lot of final prep.
One of best professors I've taken at DePaul. Gives you all the information needed to pass and to do well in class. Likeable, funny and works hard for students. Take him!
He is a really great teacher and understands the struggles of being a student. He is very thoughtful about being fair, offers extra credit, and rounds quiz grades to midterm and final grades. It is his first year teaching at DePaul and this is very obvious. Midterm and Final are very hard so you have to study a lot. Calculation problems are hardest
TAKE FINANCE WITH HIM! This class itself is a hard class, but Ted does an amazing job teaching it. He is new to teaching, which is beneficial to the students because he has a fresh perspective on how to teach the material, and he is always willing to listen to his students. I can't say enough great things about him. He is such an awesome guy.
Professor Heldring is the greatest professor you'll get for finance. Finance 310, in general, is hard but Ted makes it manageable. Get ready to study and put in the effort! Such a great guy. Take him!!
Take his class. You will not regret it.
Great Prof, Great Class. FIN 310 can be challenging, however Prof Heldring goes out of his way to make sure you have all the material you need in order to pass and learn the material. Don't need the book, he provides slide handouts with everything you need to know.
I seriously loved Professor Heldring! FIN 310 was so hard for me, but he goes out of his way to make sure you understand the material and know everything that is going to be on the midterm/final. Listen to him when he says THIS WILL BE ON THE TEST, because it will be. He's an awesome guy, super laid back teacher & funny! TAKE HIM! You won't regret!
I created a rate my professor account simply to praise Ted Heldring. He is the best teacher I have had and will ever had in all of my schooling. Class isn't the easiest but an A is manageable if you put in the work. Ted prepares you very well for the test and is just overall the best. Take Ted.
Easy A. You must Trust in Ted!
Prof. Heldring is the best! He made the class really enjoyable, and applicable to our lives. He gave helpful examples, and he was always available to help. Definitely recommend his class, esp for non majors who may need the class to be made more interesting. He's a great person and professor.
Ted is amazing. If you are struggling he will help you. If you go to the review session and listen in class, you will get a good grade. The math is complicated but he will help if you need it! He LOVES finance. Great professor, I wish I could take more of his classes.
Professor Heldring is one of the best instructors at DePaul. He makes the material interesting by incorporating real business examples into lectures and assignments. Not only was his class enjoyable I also learned a lot about finance. If you have the opportunity, take his class.
Absolutely hilarious. Although finance can be a dry subject, heldring made every topic enjoyable and funny. He really wants his students to succeed and goes above and beyond to make the class as simple and easy to pass as possible.
Literally best professor i've had at depaul. He really wants all of his students to succeed. He gives you all the tools to get an A in this class. I actually learned and retained information in this class
Heldring was a really good finance professor. The class is 20% participation 2 quizzes and 2 tests. If you do better on a test he will bump up your quiz grade. He gives partial credit when he grades and he compares things we learn in class to the real world. Wouldn't mind grabbing a beer with the guy.
Heldring is actually such a nice professor. Probably one of the only few at DePaul that genuinely cares about the people taking his class. A few online assignments & quizzes. In class tests and quizzes are open 'formula' sheet so this really helps. You actually have to try to fail this class. Just show up and do the work and you'll get at least a C
Doesn't make you buy the book, no online lab or anything. Just d2l stuff. A few quizzes and assignments, midterm, final (open 'cheat sheet'). Really nice guy, funny jokes in class. Material isn't too difficult if you follow along. Take him for finance for sure. Definitely pass if you do the work he assigns, nothing crazy difficult. Learned a lot!
Amazing Professor, he is an all in one package, You are learning from the best, his honesty, character and charisma is exactly what you need to get through the class educated. Material is straightforward, he gave print outs of the power points, Follow along because he does offer extra credit and hints to what can be on the final. Learn and have fun
One of the best Professors I've had so far at DePaul. He makes a difficult class easy and prepares you for all quizzes and tests, but you still have to study hard and pay attention in class to do well. Also, really enjoyed how we went over articles from the Wall Street Journal to stay updated on what's going on in the real world. 10/10 must take.
By far one of the coolest teachers at DePaul. This class is difficult but he does such a good job teaching it and makes it a lot easier. Tells you exactly what to expect, no trick questions, and is really helpful. He's really smart and witty. Gives a lot of extra credit. Also, the midterm and final are open note.
Professor Heldring is awesome! Quizzes and Exams are open note (cheat sheet front and back of 1 page) and he doesn't try to trick you at all. Homework is super easy and is on d2l. He does a great job of teaching step by step and will go over anything students don't understand to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Mr. Heldring is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He truly cares about his students and wants them to do well. The material is difficult, but he goes over it very well and is always open for questions. Pay attention, take good notes (throughout the lecture he'll say what problems will be on the tests, and enjoy!
Professor Heldring is someone I highly recommend. He gives you a clear grading criteria of what to expect on quizzes and exams. He is funny, kind and respectful and always is available to help you for additional questions outside of class. Overall, one of the better professors I've had at DePaul
Ted is one of the best professor at Depaul! He is a must take he allows you to have a 1 page front and back (cheat sheet) for quizzies and test material is tough so got to pay attention in class.
Prof. Heldring is one of my favorite/best teachers at DePaul. He makes dense material easy to learn and attain. He is always willing to answer questions and help, he really cares about the success of the students. I honestly wish he taught more finance classes.
Great teacher and really cool guy
Professor Herding is the best! Very clear on what you should be studying for the midterm and final. Lectures are always interesting and he has a great sense of humor. Would definitely take again!
Professor Heldring is the best professor in the business school. He cares that his students learn but also cares about the practicality of the material, which is very refreshing. He is very smart and understands that students have work outside of his class. Review sessions and extra credit allow to students to work hard to earn a good grade.
Heldring is an effective teacher but he can work on his ability to deal with students. You could tell when he was frustrated w/ students. 1 student had trouble following along bothered me that he answered in a rude way b/c he was slowing the class down. Overall take him since he'll get you through the class, but he can be be rude.
Recommended. One of the best professors. Tells you exactly what is on the quizzes and the exams. No surprises, no tricks. Not too bad for a finance class if you practice and don't fall behind. He lets you use one sheet of paper with formulas or anything that you want to put on, for your quizzes and exams.
DePaul is lucky to have such a great professor. Intelligent and better than most professors, considering he came from a distinguished corporate background. Showed extreme patience and understanding with my class, and helped me cement my goal of going into finance. Would recommend him to anyone taking FIN310.
Heldring is one of the most passionate and energetic finance professors I have taken. He loves to talk and knows how to engage in discussion. I took his night class so being able to remain attentive was easy bc of him. Speak up and he'll take notice of it. 1 paper, weekly quizzes/hw online, midterm & final. Very manageable but respect him!
Heldring is one of the nicest professors at DePaul. But the lectures were very dry making it hard to listen to. The midterm/final exam were both difficult because of the essay questions. Half the class got below a C on a paper. No extra credit. After the exams/paper he would just say "he expected better". He seems nice for 310, would avoid for 320.
The quarter isn't even halfway over, but I just feel compelled to write this review this soon. Professor Heldring is by far one of the best, if not the best, College of Business professor. Explains the material really well and applies hands-on learning and brings real-world experience to class. Also comes from a lucrative corporate background.
Ted is one of the few profs in the Finance department who are good at their job. Fin320 is a dry subject matter (he admits it too), but does a great job at keeping it pretty interesting. All around, good at being a teacher. Super available, easy to talk to, very nice. Pay attention to slides and read WSJ (even if it sucks), and you'll do just great
Professor Heldring is my favorite Finance mentor at DePaul. Ted's teaching style is unmatched, because he expertly connects daily events into the course material. It's truly an honor to be in Mr. Heldrings class, I know I am very lucky to be enrolled currently. Already signed up for his commercial banking course next fall, can't wait! - Thank you!
Great professor . Helps out when students are struggling. Overall, probably the most effective and nice professors I have ever had. Take him and do not forget to take the quizzes online
Hands down, one of the best professors at DePaul. Learned a ton taking his Commercial Banking FIN323 Course. Very reasonable work-loads and prepares you throughout the course for the final paper, so it's a breeze in the end. Needs to teach more Finance courses! 10/10 Would take again.
Stop what you're doing and GO ENROLL for any of his classes. I can TRULY say that professor Heldring was THE BEST teacher I've taken thus far. Seriously so funny, intelligent & efficient. Theres no way you'll get bored during his lectures because he makes them so interactive & relatable to real life. You can definitely get an A ifyou try! 100000/10
Professor Heldring is by far the best professor that I have engaged with here at DePaul. His constant interaction with the current on goings of the Banking world and how we should perceive these on goings is invaluable. This style of teaching I feel has left me far more prepared for any sector of banking. 10 out of 10 in my book!
Not an easy course, but he really tries to help students understand it. No textbook, he posts the slides before the lecture. Pay attention in class, go to the review sessions before exams, do the extra credit and you'll get a good grade. You get to make a note sheet for all quizzes/exams. He gives study guides that are a lot like the exam. take him
Heldring in my opinions is one of the absolute best professors you can take at DePaul. He actually cares about students and wants to make sure that you are learning information that you will use in your careers. I took him for money and banking as well as commercial banking and trust me if I could take him for more classes towards my major I would.
Professor Heldring is very likeable in terms of making jokes and relating the course content to the real world, however the course is very fast paced, he puts trick questions on the quizzes, and sometimes you won't even be tested prior to quizzes to ensure you understand the material. Great professor but difficult course.
He is a great professor even though his course is really hard. He does the best he can to make up for how hard his course is. He frequently makes jokes in class and tells you exactly what will be on the exam. There are never trick questions. He even takes personal accountability for the class not understanding concepts.
Very tough grader and rephrases questions on exams to trick you by a few words to make the answer wrong. Attendance is non-mandatory but he will make questions on homework regarding what he talks about in class. Skip and you won't pass. Professor Heldring is extremely knowledgeable but you'll struggle if you aren't a finance major.
As an economics major, this course was not required but I took it to learn basic finance terms. Im about to finish the course and can say that I learned much more than expected. As for the "trick questions" that others are complaining about, it just requires basic reading skills to figure them out. Great course and recommend to anyone in any major!
Heldring is the man. Always makes you feel like you gave a good answer even when it's not the one he is looking for. He has a way of making a dry lecture interesting. This is my second time taking him and I would definitely take him for a third class. My only issue is that sometimes it is not clear what you are expected to know/ take notes on.
I had to say Ted has by far been my favorite professor when it comes to anything finance/economics related (which aren't my strong suits). He's available for any questions you may have, keeps the class somewhat entertaining even if you don't like finance or math, and breaks things down to digestible content ( P.S. go to the review sessions!!!!!!)
Great teacher who's willing to help his students.
Heldring is a true gem. Very good at breaking down the ideas of Commercial Banking and can apply that to real world stuff. Also, a big Philly sports fan so be ready to hear about how great the Birds are. I would take him again 100%.
Great professor! Interesting lectures. Gets away from the boring book stuff and talks about personal experiences in banking. Would recommend to take for any finance class he teaches at DePaul.
One of the best
This guy is amazing. My last quarter my my senior year at depaul. Prof. Heldring Was very understanding he changes deadlines so that we can have more time to work on the assignment and not fall behind on other classes. He replies to emails quickly and he gives clear responses.
Professor Heldring is a fantastic professor that I would highly recommend to any student. He really cares about the students grasping the material. TAKE HIM!
Great Professor. Very funny and nice. Knows a lot based on years of relevant experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great class.
Ted is the best. Cares about his students and knows his stuff. Take everything you can with him, you wont regret it
Attendance is not mandatory, but considering this is a finance course then you should go to class. Hilarious guy, knows his stuff. Gives partial credits and plenty of extra credits. Attend the lectures and practice. Easy A class!
Will go above and beyond to work with you for your grade. Genuinely cares about relationship with students and feedback. One of my favorite teachers at DePaul! Hoping to take money and banking with him.
This is rate my professor, not rate the class. It's a finance class, it's hard and boring. Ted is a great professor and makes this topic interesting. Thorough lectures. Online homework cushions your grade a bit. Some extra credit options. You get a cheat sheet for the midterm and final. If you go to class, pay attention, do the work: you'll pass.
If you don't like finance definitely take this professor! He makes finance interesting and I enjoyed going to his class. You get note sheets for all quizzes and exams and half the quizzes are online. He gives plenty of extra credit and truly cares about all of his students. Lectures are funny & business related. Cool dude
10/10 prof. Makes the content easier to digest and fascinating. Assignments are online quizzes, the content on the exam is very clear and he prepares you for it. If you haven't taken this course yet, this is the prof to go.
This class isnt easy, but i can say he is an amazing teacher. really interesting lectures and very willing to help students. theres a decent amount of work and the tests arent easy (note sheet allowed). but if you put in the work, he will ensure you get a good grade. you HAVE to show up to class or meet with him in office hours. no book, some ExCred
Really knowledgeable and nice professor, and he tells good stories during lectures to help with learning different concepts!
Professor Heldring is a great professor and I would recommend anyone who is considering taking his class to do sign up. He is funny and tries hard to make class enjoyable. Professor Heldring made his lectures interesting and also offered lots of extra credit. Show up to lectures and listen and you will get a good grade. He knows who shows up!!!
Professor is a great teacher with real life experience in the banking industry. Would take again.
I've taken Heldring twice now and he is by far my favorite professor at DePaul. His content is not easy but he makes it interesting and relatable. Helps that he has industry experience and is super nice as well. In both classes we had weekly assessments as well as a bigger writing assignment (it isn't that bad either). Totally manageable.
His lecture is very hard to not fall asleep on. He will make your entire quarter a living hell. Be well-prepared if you are going to take his class.
Professor Heldring might just be the best professor that I have had the opportunity to have during my 3 years in undergrad. It's really simple: attend the lectures, pay attention, and you will have a much greater chance of being successful in the class. After all, you're paying to take it! With the appropriate effort, you will get your moneys worth
On of the best professors at DePaul. Highly recommended. A lot of real life examples. Lectures cover all the material.
Great professor. Do the work and you will be fine. Quizzes are fairly easy if you watch the lectures. I love that he listens to you and gives you a friendly honest opinion.
Ted is the BEST. I've taken two classes with him and both were great. I learned more about banking in 10 weeks with Ted than I did my entire time at DePaul. As long as you go to class and watch his videos the course is a breeze. He's also just a cool guy, really fun to listen and talk to. Full of wisdom and real-life banking experience.
I took fin300 asynch and prof was really great! Videos were short and went directly with his PowerPoints so it was easy to refer back to. He always referenced real world examples and offers extra credit in form of papers at end of quarter and on midterm/final. Weekly assignments and schedule is always laid out every week by him.
Professor Heldring was easily one of my favorite teachers at Depaul. As a finance major,it was nice to finally take a finance class that didn't just consist of problem-solving. Every single one of his lectures was interesting and very informative for a future career in finance. One quiz every week, One paper, a midterm, and a final. Take him.
Professor Heldring is one of the best professors at DePaul. I took 2 of his classes one online and one in person and both were great. He's very knowledgeable and talks a lot about current events. Be sure to show up to class and pay attention during the lecture as he includes stuff directly from the lecture in the weekly HW assignment.
Prof. Heldring doesn't deserve anything bad on his behalf. Clear real-world connections on every topic taught. He makes sure you're on par with his assessments' quirky/funny (?)s. Amazing, spontaneous, 10/10. Don't miss out on him even though finance [for me] was a bit tough at times. Remember this quote if you don't, C's get you degrees :)
He does not teach. Lectures are mainly powerpoint slides that he goes over. He has not respect for his students and makes everything about him. He put more work into a hypothetical situation than he did teaching all year. Changed up teaching & grading style randomly and caused unnecessary pressure and anxiety. He is using his power over students.
The professor identified obvious cheating on some extra credit problems on the exam. He threw out the questions as a result. For some that is changing the grading scale; for others it is protecting the integrity of the class.
I do not recommend this professor. He lets you take open note quizzes, then accuses the class of cheating. He went out of his way to make our experience miserable and caused unnecessary anxiety. Lectures are mainly him summarizing the slides. He should want his students to succeed and it felt like we were being set up for failure
Avoid this professor. He was upset we got good grades on the midterm, gives us open note quizzes, accuses the whole class of cheating, and doesn't even teach, just reads the powerpoints. He has no sympathy for his students and causes unnecessary stress to us all. Save yourself the stress and anxiety and take this class with another professor.
Worst professor I've ever had. He said we didn't need to know certain things in his lectures (crossed out the entire slide) and then put questions on those topics in exams. Accused the entire class of cheating on the open note/textbook midterm and took off our extra credit, dropping grades by whole letters. He has truly set us up for failure.
What EVER YOU DO, For the love of god do not take this professor. He made the midterm exam open book/open note, then accused the whole class of cheating when we all scored well. He then proceded to write a whole new final exam from scratch to punish everyone.. Hes teaching an intro level course like it is a masters course. Its intro to Fin .....
Do not take this professor. Examples used in his lectures were basic and would asses us on way more complex problems that often required a formula, concept, or piece of problem solving he did not teach. Expected us to pick up on implicit ideas he glazes over in the lectures. Can write down everything he says in a lecture and you won't be prepared
Worst professor of my life. If you have the option of not taking him for this class, do it. HE DOES NOT TEACH!!!!!!!!!! WAS MAD ABOUT GOOD GRADES ON THE MIDTERM!!!!!!!!! THIS IS AN INTRO TO FINANCE CLASS!!!!!!!!!!!!! His final was sooooooo difficult he was the worst professor I have ever had at Depaul. Does not care about his students AT ALLL !!!!!
THE WORST Professor ever. Has no respect for his students. Accused everyone of cheating on the midterm then proceeded to create the most difficult and unfair final. There was not enough time to complete the exam. You can watch all the lectures and you will still be confused. I have never experienced this much stress and anxiety from a class.
He is the worst professor I've ever had at Depaul. Never take him, you are doing yourself a favor. He doesn't realize we have other classes to worry about other than his!!!!!!!!! The final was by far the hardest final I have ever taken. He didn't teach half the problems that were on the final! AND MOST OF THE CLASS AREN'T FINANCE MAJORS!!!!!!!!!!
This is the Professor response to all these 1 ratings. Let's see how everyone does before any final conclusion; if a curve is appropriate, it will be applied. Students were told exactly which problems would be on the exam; all of which were reviewed in class and during the review session.
Professor Heldring, based the majority of the final grade on the final, not giving his students ample time to not finish their exams. Says he gives his students ample time to finish quizzes but acknowledges in class that his example questions have taken 15+ minutes alone.
Hello everyone! This is Professor Heldring, just to let everyone know, no curve will be applied to the last exam. If you don't do well that's on the lack of studying. Be ready to work hard, and put in the time and effort to pass this class. Thank you! Professor Heldring
It breaks my heart to say this, but this class was extremely hard for an intro level course. Save your self the stress and anxiety and do not take this class.
The final was the exact same as the problems he provided during class.. just different numbers. The time limit was not enough time tho each problem took about 15+ mins. At the end the professor just cared that we LEARNED and not cheated our way through. He curved the final exam and no one failed the class..
He made the second half of the course really stressful for students. Final exam was worth the majority of the grade before he changed it. Our final grades were lower than any of his previous classes... No student walked away with an F, but that doesn't mean some didn't earn a D. Save yourself the worries and choose another prof.
Overall Professor Heldring was a genuine professor with a kind soul. Ignore these other 1.0 reviews because they are not true. If you paid attention and actually did work in his class, you will be fine. He is an amazing professor and I am glad I got to take him.
Have taken Professor Heldring for FIN 320 and Commercial Banking. Hands down he is a top 2 professor for me personally at DePaul. Cares tremendously about students learning valuable material. Will do whatever it takes for a student willing to work hard to succeed. Overall, a great teacher and an even better person. Can't recommend him enough.
He is a great professor my second time taking his class. Attend his class and listen to his lectures and you will do great in the class.
Professor Heldring is a amazing professor and really accessible outside class. He is incredibly knowledgeable about finance and made the material really engaging and easy to understand. I learned a lot from the class and I would definitely recommend Professor Heldring for anyone looking for thoughtful and engaging professor.
The professor wants you to succeed and is flexible when it comes to student hours for exam reviews. Go to those review sessions as they are super helpful. Yes, you need to pay attention to the details in his lecture videos and study for the exams but we are there to learn something. Extra credit is also offered which is nice.
FIN 310 is a difficult class but as long as you put effort from day one, reach out to Prof. Heldring when you're struggling, don't try to cheat, and attend lectures then you will do great. Prof. Heldring gave us a very accurate study guide for both the midterm and the final, did a review session the night before the final, and made finance fun.
One of the great and knowledgeable Professor at DePaul. Class is not hard at all if you pay attention. He is always ready and happy to help you outside the student hours and class. There are student hours two days a week. He also helped me go through midterm and final to see mistakes. He also offers extra credit too which also help boat your grade.
I had such a great experience with professor Heldring. Do not listen to the bad reviews. Finance 310 is a challenging subject; however, Professor Ted makes it simple with his lectures. I liked that he gave us a guide for the midterm and final exam. Just try to do all the problems yourself instead of using Chegg, and you will be fine.
Ted was really good in my opinion, his lectures online are not long and easy to comprehend, he can be a little messy sometimes but overall made a hard class completely understandable. the students that leave bad reviews on here are prob the students who didn't put enough time to watch short lectures, take notes of examples, or come to student hours
This was one of the hardest classes I had to take at depaul. He made the quizzes & tests way too difficult for absolutely no reason. He cares too much about students "cheating" & bc of his suspicions, makes the tests almost impossible to pass. If you care about ur mental health & don't want ur hair to fall out in chunks then don't take this class.
Very hard class
I was in the class where he accused everyone of cheating. It was completely unfair he did that, on top of the fact that he penalized everyone on the midterm and purposely made the final difficult. But, I still got a B on the exam and an A in the class, and he curved the final. If you show up, study, and actually try, you will get an A I promise.
The best professor! So many extra credit opportunities and very easy homework. Very easy A as long as you actually do the work
This is the hardest class I have taken at DePaul. I went into this class as a Finance major, and it was so unbearable that I changed Finance to my minor and am considering dropping it altogether. Ted is a nice guy but should not teach an introduction class. He moves too fast and rambles half the class about things that are not relevant. DON'T TAKE
All the professor does is post about 10 to 20 lecture videos a week explaining problems within finance. For an intro class this professor treats this course as if all students are finance majors. I took this course and never anticipated an intro course to have more course work than my major courses.
Professor Heldring is a great professor! This was my first masters finance class at DePaul and I come from a Biochemistry background yet, I was able to get an A+ in the class. Watch his lectures, take notes, do well on his quizzes (unlimited attempts), and you are guaranteed to do well on the midterm and final. He's alwasy willing to help! Take him
Professor Heldring is a very attentive and caring professor. This was my first finance class and I will be honest it was difficult for me. He met with me and helped me and I brought my grade up in this class from a D to an A+. Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities and the unlimited time limit/attempts on the homework. Take Him!
Took Fin310 asynchronously. Was relatively easy as long as you put in some effort taking notes, understanding how to do the problems. The homework quizzes(no time limit) were based off the lectures so you can usually find the answers but he does try to challenge you. Responds fast to emails and offers several extra credit opportunities. recommend!
Great teacher and provides you with everything you need to succeed. The workload is heavy but manageable and he is always willing to set aside time to help.
Class was challenging but very well taught. Fair grader with plenty of opportunities to do well as long as you put in the work. Lectures are clear and easy to follow. Pay attention, take notes and will do well on the weekly quizzes (unlimited attempts given). Exams are tough but he prepares you very well for them. He responds quickly to emails.
Professor, Heldring is a great professor makes finance fun, and explains concepts that students don't understand until we do. Honestly, If the choice to take him in another class I will. All in all, he is a great professor.
FIN310 can be challenging, but the professor provides plenty of extra credit opportunities. The homework has no time limit, so using resources like unstuck AI can really help. Stay engaged and you'll likely end up with a solid grade.
Ted is such a nice professor. He makes lectures fun to listen to and wants participation. He will help you understand your financial calculator and the material. I recommend taking him for your first finance class, as you will really understand the material. The exams were a bit difficult, but there was a curve.
He is teaching extremely foundational and important topics but goes so fast and is so all over the place everyone is absolutely lost in class. Unless you understand topics by just watching without having time to take notes id suggest him but otherwise Id steer away. Nice guy but I just can't recommend him.
He's passionate about finance, however he is insufferable. Rushes through everything important, takes his sweet time talking. Most quizzes contain questions about HIM that if you don't write down, like his first job, you can lose up to 50% on the weekly quizzes. Kid named Jacob always spoke in class (a pick me) and had the most annoying voice too
AVOID! he lectures and speaks condescendingly and taunts students in class for a joke. He lectures like his has undiagnosed ADD, he is all over the place, handwriting even worse. He's checked out and openly states Thursday's he runs to catch a flight to Florida to play golf! IMO, he's just waiting to retire and that is what drives, not teaching.
As long as you show up to class the material is not difficult. He will cold call students but helps you get to the answer if you do not know it. There are also plenty of extra credit opportunities available.
Amazing class! He's super engaging and kept the class interactive. He moves around while teaching, which helped me stay attentive. The material isn't too hard but did need me to study outside of class to be excellent. Also, he visits family in Florida, not golf every Thursday. (I saw a comment made him seem like he doesn't care, which he does).
