Most horrible Prof. on the face of the planet. If you notice early on that your views conflict with his - lie or you won't get a good grade. Didn't have a problem passing the class by lying but he tormented the girl next to me. He mixed up and in-class assignment of ours and gave her an A. When he realized it wasn't mine he changed it to C.

Should not be teaching - you can only get a good grade if you agree with him all the time! If you take his class just lie to him and tell him you agree (even if you don't) b/c if you try to make a different point he jumps all over you and then tells you that you can expect to fail!!! Doesn't read journal either just gives u grade you have in class.

Don't take Koch...whatever you do don't take this class with him. Very unclear about promps for essays. Its like have a rough draft on monday, let him read it and give it back to you on Wen. and then have a final paper on friday...sucks.

Essays very unclear, didnt learn anything, all you do is journals and then right an essay about it for the whole semester. only thinks his opinion is right. and NEVER can answer a question. If you ask him something, he will just repeat the question back to you as if you are supposed to magically think of the answer since he asked it to you.

I worked my ass off and used every resource possible even got my paper edited by another english teacher... he gave me a D. this is the worst teacher there ever was.

This professor is the worst professor I had. I worked myself to death, got my papers edited by another English professor, and only got a D. He also took 10 points off a test because I bought the Kindle edition of the book he wanted us to read, there was no difference at all between the two and he took points off because it wasn't the paper version!

So I read all these coments at the start of the semester and thought everyone was just giving him a hard time, BUT NO, this is absolutely the worst teacher I've ever had. I didn't learn anything in the class and what started as a fun interest turned into the most stressful class I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS

I minored in English literature in college and wanted to take this course for fun to help increase my research skills. I write plays and other literature and wanted to refresh my skills. Forget it. His prompts are that of a class in a master's level program. I would not recommend him to teach or to babysit children. His father is the teacher.

Confusing. I took lots of notes. When I showed a draft of my first paper, he said he did not say he wanted it done like that, & I had the notes to prove otherwise. I had a high GPA & saw I would b in trouble, so I dropped half way, to save it. Scary & I could not risk it.

RUN AWAY! Seriously. No grace given at all. Assignments are extremely unclear and his standards for assignments are a mystery. Gives little to none feedback about how to improve papers and expects a peer review of your draft to help you. Dry sense of humor that can come across harsh. RUN AWAY!!!!!

HORRIBLE. Does not make instructions very clear for his papers and waits till two days before a test to give you what you actually have to study for then expects you to write short answers with them. I do not recommend him to anyone!

Hands down the worst teacher I have EVER had! if you can avoid taking his class do it! his essays are impossible to figure out and he does not help or make suggestions. He tells you about test 2 days before the test and he hasn't even taught the material that is on the test! also he is VERY BORING! DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES!

When I first had class, I thought that these reviews were a little harsh and that he may be nicer than what he was portrayed as. NO! He is not willing to help one bit. He is heartless and doesn't care about his students' success. The work load was not the issue, it was his lack of kindness towards his students. I'm sorry if you have him.

He is the most unhelpful teacher I've ever had. He spends the whole class "teaching" us how to write an essay, but I always left class feeling like I didn't learn anything! His feedback was vague, and he never answered questions. He also didn't upload grades onto BlackBoard until the last minute. Don't take him.

This teacher is the worst teacher I ever ever had and will advise everyone who has not taken his class to please do not take his class because no matter how hard you work in that class he is never satisfied; also he expects you to be on time to class and to not miss a day the entire semester and you can forget about extra credit.

Way too demanding, completely different route he goes about as far as writing an essay. Hard teacher, killed my gpa. Never had below a B in english until I received a D in his class.

You might as well kiss that good GPA goodbye if you take his class. Literally the WORST professor that I have ever had. Our class started out with 20 students, half way through only 8-10 people were taking his class and only 4 people took his final exam. He is AWFUL. Don't make the same mistake I did. AVOID THS MAN.

WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!!! He is no help and won't respond to your emails. Final grade is based on 5 essays that have prompts that make no sense. His class is super boring and he makes you want to fall asleep every class period. DON'T TAKE KOCH!

Grade is based on 5 major essays with smaller homework assignments due every class period on the reading. His prompts are given late and written to use for multiple classes so they talk about format more than the actual topic which makes writing papers for him a PAIN.

Just horrible, the worst part is that his prompts and any information that he gives out is so confusing. He cuts you no slack at all and don't even think about being late.

WORST TEACHER EVER! Most of the journals you have to do are REALLY long. Sometimes it'll take you hours to just do one part of a journal. He grades really hard. If you want at least a B, go to the learning lab whenever you get a chance. He doesn't teach at all. If u have a question, he says "it's on blackboard". I got the highest grade in my class.

If you don't read his syllabus thoroughly and literally follow his directions word by word, you're guaranteed to just pray your GPA down the hole. Majority of his students aren't even bad at English. He just has Hitler way of teaching. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

This class was horrible. I wish I would have taken this class with someone else. I struggled with this class and he was very clear that he did not want to be bothered for help via email indefinitely. The material was very interesting and i wish we had more time to actually discuss the topic we were researching.

Koch is literally the worst. I've never had such difficulty with any of my other professors. He never provides constructive criticism, just rips your work apart. You are always guessing as to what he expects as far as papers and tests go. His lectures don't teach you anything about the actual material, he talks in circles. Sarcastic and rude.

Terrible teacher. Does not give you feedback or help. Never gives straight answers for anything, just vague suggestions. Has no regard for student well-being. Do not take this class.

I have always been a devoted student and I have always considered myself a good writer. However, this instructor is the ABSOLUTE WORST!! Avoid this man like the plague and take it with someone else. He is vague, rude, sarcastic and provides ZERO help!

Worst teacher ever. extremely unclear with what he expects out of his students. He doesnt seem to have any concern on whether you pass or fail his class. The only positive thing that he does is put three extra points on your final grade if you have not missed a single day of his class or exceeded more than one tardy. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Horrible, is the only word i can come up with for his class. He has no care for any of your questions, most of the time he does not even address any of your concerns. His class is set up where one mistake on an exam gives you a failing grade.

I had an online class and the "attendance" is based off of missed assignments. I missed a portion of an assignment which was graded as a missed assignment and then I missed an assignment due to an emergency which he did not care at all. Do not take him unless you want to read basically a good 4 hours everyday on top of the pile of assignments.

I was taking this class online, but dropped it after about 2 weeks. Course load is crazy heavy, if you're taking any other classes at all, one or the other is going to suffer. There's no way to complete all of his assignments, and get anything else done. He's very unclear with his instructions and expects his students to be perfect all the time.

Never have I had such an intense course load. He apparently believes this is the only class you are taking. If you don't outline your email subject exactly how he wants, your email will be deleted without response. Harsh grader. His "teacher review" for your papers pretty much consist of saying an entire paragraph is wrong without help on revising

His guidelines, requirements, and expectations are set way to high for a comm-college. He has 10 pages of rules that need to be followed precisely otherwise you will fail. The reading is hard and there is a lot of it. He requires master's level writing at a comm-college. He gives harsh, discouraging, useless feedback but then expects quality.

This professor gives zero helpful suggestions. He has lists of rules that you try to follow, and he fails you anyway. Doesn't matter if you try hard or not, he'll fail you. I took my paper to the lab and had it approved by other teachers and then received a zero. He advised to seek out other help because those teachers were not capable.

Heres what our hw is 2 weeks in; , 3 discussion boards (3 paragraphs each) with each 3 replys to other students(2 paragraphs each), a writing assignment and a test. Way too much homework to keep up with other classes.

Gives way too much work for a single course especially for ENG111. If you're taking other courses with this one be prepared to left one or more of them suffer as you can't keep with as his multiple assignments. His feedbacks consist of him grading harshly followed by no effective feedback.

Ruthless. Assigns so much work. School was closed due to Hurricane Florence made no accommodations. No constructive feedback. Emailed him work for help, was still given bad grades. His help consisted of telling me that it's not quite what he was looking for. Will give you a zero if you miss ANYTHING. Do not take him!

Failed me when I missed 1 too many days due to an EMERGENCY SURGERY. Brought in paperwork for the missed day and he literally said "oh well"

Comments are not encouraging or inspiring. I found his comments to be condescending. Does not give enough time for amount of work required. The amount of instructions are disorganized and confusing. If he makes an error, he blames the class somehow. Comes across as a teacher who does not care.

Never take this English class I mean never. He is very rude doesnt help you at all, if you ask for help he has a smart comment that makes you feel stupid. Pretty sure only 5 people passed that class and I was in a full class. So take this at your own risk.

Horrible professor. First professor I ever took at CFCC. Put me off on taking further classes. I do not know how this guy is still employed. Very dismissive and disrespectful. Do not take his classes. I am a writer and have never gotten a poor grade in any class, especially English. Its unclear of whats expected of you, hes rude and sarcastic in emails. He is failing me saying I didnt do things when I can clearly show proof I have. Im dropping the class in the morning. Please dont take this class with him.

This professor does not care about the students, no feed back and the material is all over the place but he expects you to find it.

Very rude and NOT willing to work with students when an issue pops up (even when the problem was his fault to begin with). Won't be taking any of his classes again and have advised family/friends who were planning on taking an ENG class to avoid him, too. Absolutely not worth it.

I seriously regret taking this class with this professor. Professor Koch gives out an insane amount of papers throughout the semester and grades harshly, his expecatations for classwork are unrealistic. Hes rude and unhelpful. Please DO NOT take this class with Professor Koch, you will regret it if you do!

This class was an absolute nightmare. You would think that professors would have a little more humanity and possess compassion during the stressful times of a GLOBAL PANDEMIC, not Professor Koch. If you get in his class drop it ASAP, I stayed the whole year and the amount of stress and aggrivation this class caused me was NOT worth it at all!

Unbelievable. Dropped class right after it was too late to get a refund sadly. Ted Koch had a course schedule outlining due dates and when I asked why the second week was no longer open he said it was passed the due date. I brought up the schedule that clearly showed it was not due yet and his reply was simply "The schedule is just a guide". Yep.

Do not take his classes if you can. Never in my life have I been more disrespected by a professor. Makes due dates for difficult papers in very short succession but then proceeds to take 2 months to grade said papers.

Absolutely terrible teacher. Gave work OVER SPRING BREAK and doesnt add due dates on calender. Prompts for 4 page essay is very unclear. The work load is so heavy and when you dont know the clear due dates its hard. i have 3 other classes. I cant be fishing for my due dates like this.

Avoid at all costs. This professor expects what he visualizes. Unless you can read his mind, steer clear.

He is very strict. He also gives a lot work that require time but barely gives any time to complete them but he takes FOREVER to grade something. Personally, I did not receive any feedback that he supposedly gave to help. Some due dates are not shown and he expects perfection.

This class is not taught it is critiqued. Koch is not your teacher he acts as your critic. He does not enable you to create the level of work he seeks and is a zero tolerance professor. He told me to make personal/health sacrifices for his class. Save yourself the trouble, don't take his class. If it's the only one available, take it next semester.

Waste of time

He gives us essays to write and provides feedback on particular things we need to edit on these essays. He takes forever to provide the feedback and will not allow us to proceed to the next assignment until he feels the essay is up to par. This can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. I do not recommend taking his class at all.

He will not give you feedback on a draft until the day a paper is due, making it impossible to get anything done. I have 10 assignments he has not graded with a week left of class, and he is a harsh grader. When I applied his edits, my paper dropped an entire letter grade. Only take his class if you are a writing prodigy and smarter than him.

He will not grade things until the last second, so you will not know your grade until it is too late to do anything about it. Grades very harshly, and will take points off after you apply his edits, and has vague prompts. Does not care about students, and tries to fail them on purpose. He should not be a teacher. Feedback is given late and poorly.

I can't even pick 3 tags. We were thrown assignments almost last minute that made absolutely no sense, so they weren't able to be completed. I'm just glad I was able to drop during the drop period. He made it to where I have pushed my English 111 class out because I fear I'm just going to fail it just because of his class. 10/10 do NOT recommend.

Avoid this class if you're not a writing prodigy - the professor is very harsh and provides unhelpful, condescending feedback. However, Unstuckstudy could be a lifesaver for study prep and essay formatting.
