He is tough, but he cares about his students.
oddly cool for being a teacher..., but i dont think anyone is cool enough to acutally make math easy or interesting!
Interesting and informative. The music quizzes were one of the coolest ideas ever in a classroom.
Coolest math teacher ever.
This guy is the coolest math teacher alive (IMHO). I love math anyway, but he made this class more enjoyable than I could have hoped.
He is very good!! He taught mate very clearly, so I could get A. Thank you!!
He is fun! Each day he introduces us to new music. It is not an easy class, but if you come to class and do the homework it is pretty easy to make an A. I would recommend him to anyone.
I enjoyed his class, We used the ALEKS program and he let us work at our own pace, although he did have a required number of hours each week. When help was needed he was right there and would explain the problem in a way that was easy to understand.
Great class. Able to use formula sheet and example problems. Use the book, the CD and the homework CD. Great teacher! Very helpful! Wants you to succeed. Use the sample exams before you take the final, you will ace it.
A nice man
This class is cake -- if you do the work. He expects you to learn for yourself and ask him questions. Otherwise, his lectures will barely last 10 minutes long. All homework was graded on completion, and he gives all the answers. He's extremely helpful, but only if you ask for it. This is the most fulfilling class I've taken, but also the hardest.
Professor Lambert is the BEST math instructor at TMCC! He provides you with clear expectations and it is up to you to "earn" your grade. If you follow his instructions, you are sure to earn an A in his class. Each day after class I went into the tutoring center and busted out my homework right away. The tutors are great. Ted is cute! :))
I love his teaching method and strongly recommend him!
easy class if you go and pay attention, pretty straight forward and homework is graded by completion. im terrible at math and i had an easy time understanding him hes a great teacher
Ted has an unconventional way of teaching with disc for the pc and then there is no real lecture. When you show up to class, you ask questions. His method was difficult to grasp at first but once I got it, I did the best in this class than any other math class I've taken. He is fun and does a great job. You do have to earn your grade. No freebies..
Ted is an AMAZING teacher, I was nervous going in to this class because of past math teachers that were great at all, but he proved me wrong. Wonderful teacher, with a great personality. Everyone should take his class!! :)
Ted is my all time favorite professor. Super helpful. Also great taste in music. We swapped CDs all the time. :)
I was the person in class who just didn't get it. Took tutoring all through high school, used calculators constantly. Bottom line, I SUCKED. Then I took this class, and this FABULOUS teacher made things so understandable. He made me feel like I could actually do it, and because of that, I could. Homework is simple, you gotta show up though. =)
Ted was more than amazing!he made things so understandable, coming from me that has always sucked at math! I got 2 a's with him, my first time ever getting such amazing grades! If you can take him please do! I had to take pre calc with a new teacher because he wasnt there for the semester and did horrible with new instructor, she was horrible!
The class all depends on you and your learning strategies. If you're the kind of person that likes long lectures and seeing problems done rather than reading on how to do it then this class isn't for you. We met once a week and he was willing to help. We used Aleks and I really enjoyed the program.
happily answers questions
His textbook was so boring and confusing that it was indecipherable. I couldn't adapt to his method of teaching, with a reading assignment, 50% or better on the next section, and the final homework due almost every class. The method reinforced incorrect ways to solve problems for me. Wouldn't recommend if you prefer traditional classroom setting.
Awesome Professor, Gives you lots of chances to get help. Makes Math 120 easy.
Ted was a cool professor to have, his homework and readings are kind of confusing at first but then you get used to it and become very helpful for the test. You're able to use a note card on a test, probably the only way to actually pass the class: readings, and note cards ready!
You must how up in order to pass. His grading scale is a bit different but if you apply yourself you will pass and its easy to do so. Just pay attention do you notes and you'll be fine. I loved his class and would take it again. Easy A if you do the work if not then this isnt the class for you.
He plays music sometimes which creates a less rigid environment, bu he keeps a straight forward tone towards the material which is a great balance! Pretty easy class, especially with note cards available for tests.
At first his homework system was strange. He writes what is due each day and the next so you figure it out pretty fast. He plays music before class which is cool. Ted if you are reading this play some rap next time. First time I ever liked math.
Lectures are very clear and explain everything. If you ask a question he will answer it different ways until you understand. Class criteria is well laid out and easy to interpolate. My class was mandatory calculator and basic arithmetic was encouraged to be done with the calculator. Best class I've had thus far.
Ted's a great teacher. Gives you lectures within his textbook and flash drive (I advise that you read and watch them. DON'T SKIM). Practice, practice, practice hw acing the test. GET HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT. Pay attention. Also, be warned, he doesn't use CANVAS, so you're pretty in the dark about your grade (unless you want to ask every week)
If you like a traditional class format, this class is not for you. His method of teaching is very self-driven and he stresses getting tutoring for almost all of your questions. In all fairness, he does offer extra credit for tutoring but does also require everyone to fully understand the material. Take this class if you're moving on in math!
This class is pretty simple if you put in the effort and are good at motivating yourself to learn independently. Your grade depends on completing homework, notes, and 2 exams with a final. If you are okay with more independent learning, you should be fine because you have to watch lectures at home but he briefly reviews in class :)
He's a great teacher. He's very clear and helpful. Homework is graded on completion and a notecard can be used on the exams. You are expected to learn the material before class and ask questions during class. Tips: do the homework, read the textbook, study for tests, and ask questions when you're confused.
Ted was a great teacher, very enthusiastic. The class was pretty straight forward and simple. The lectures are through video though so if that's not your sort of thing I wouldn't recommend this class. He sometimes gives hints for future tests so that's cool. Do the homework, its a big part of your grade in the class and its easy to do.
He is cool as a person but not so great at explaining math. He can be clear when explaining one on one but teaching as a class isn't so great because there are so many students in the class. His teaching method is definitely not for everyone. If you get lost, definitely get a tutor or you will stay lost.
This is a very tough class for me, but I was able to pass. He gives extra credit for going to tutoring, so go!! The class is large but he still makes time for questions. Over all a great class
This class is not for someone who isn't looking for an online class. You are provided with a textbook that has little to no examples of problems to help you with homework. The teaching is done by videos where again he does not give any good examples to follow. He lectures for about 20 min and then homework. The only positive thing is extra credit.
If you do not learn by reading or doing things by yourself do not take this class. He wants you to teach yourself or go to tutoring. But he does show examples when asked in class. Just do your hw, correct it, and ask questions. Tough class for people who aren't so good learning by themselves.
Ted is so much fun. He's an extremely nice guy, but not the best professor. The textbook, workbook, and usb are all written/created by him and you absolutely have to have them. In class he will help you with any questions you have, but you are mostly expected to go home with that usb of lectures and figure it out on your own. Very self-taught.
Show up. Just show up. He makes you work for it but I mean it's math of course you do. He doesn't go out of his way to help but he doesn't deny it either. I wouldn't pick him out of everyone but don't worry if you get stuck with him. Everything is so independent, he doesn't even lecture in class just goes over the home video lectures.
This is the worst teacher do not take. First he doesn't teach you anything at all, he expects you to figure out the answer for yourself. Second when asking questions he is rude and does not answer your question. Third he gives way too much homework that is due every class. And last his tests are incredibly hard.
Ted knows math very well. In fact, I think thats the only thing he's actually taught me; that HE knows math very well. Signing up for his class be prepared to hold little to no reliance on him to help you, because you basically have to teach yourself. Class time is supposed to be used to answer questions on homework, but don't rely on that either.
Pretty easy class if you do all of your work. The textbook is written by him and is definately mandatory, I did not like the video lectures because they do not tech you much.
Ted is great and all; however, Ted makes it difficult to actually learn the material. In his class, you have to read the chapter at home, watch a lecture video at home, fill out the lecture notes at home, then the homework. In class you go over the homework and any questions you have. He does a few examples and then lets us do the homework.
Only take this class if you want to teach yourself. You go home and do homework, lecture notes, lecture video for the next section. He over explains everything and doesn't explain the important things. Plus to get extra credit you have to go to tutoring for an hour, outside of class. and if you want to know the right answer he wont tell you.
This is not the class for someone who has a lot of outside obligations. Most of the learning is done outside of the class, but if you work well this way and can ask all the questions you have during class time, it is an amazing course. You must make use of Ted for it to be useful still, he dedicates almost the entire class to answering questions.
Ted is a great instructor. He has everything set up so that you can learn the material, you just need to be motivated to do so. He makes it very clear what will be on the tests so the tests are not a big surprise. If I was continuing on in math I would definitely take his class.
i am not the greatest at math but this class made it pretty much impossible to be motivated. i went to over 6 hours of tutoring a week and still couldnt pass. he was not helpful and made me feel stupid when i asked questions. i would NEVER take him again. EVER
His extra credit opportunities are great! I struggled in his class primarily due to my own faults, but Ted Lambert is a very, very wonderful teacher. His class is very organized and many of my friends developed close relationships with him. He's not only cool as a person, but is a very effective teacher. I'd love to take personal finance from him!
Worst teacher I've ever had. The homework did not help me learn the material on top of that I needed 16 hours of tutoring if I wanted to turn in test corrections. He did not answer questions in a helpful way, and his textbook gave the worst examples so I couldn't even teach myself. His teaching method lead me to fail this class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. This was the worst teacher I've ever had. He is not very helpful - if you have a Q on the hw he wont answer it because you have to wait a certain day to ask it, he doesnt post grades online because its too much work for him, if you are late you can not turn in homework. Lecture notes have to be done before class w/hw
I never worked so hard for a class only to fail. I spent hours completing homework assignments and hours tutoring, but still didn't pass. He also didn't show any of the algebra math steps on the board. I'm only 17 and I thought i'd get my math done this first semester, but i was wrong.
To be honest, this was my FOURTH time taking math 126. Yes FOURTH. So I was pretty determined to finish off this class. Math has always and WILL always be my number one struggle. Ted gives lots of extra credit to boost up your score, however it will not bring up your overall score.. just help you boost from a C- to a C.
He was not eager to help and when he did he made me more confused. I did all the assignments and test corrections yet still didn't pass.
Hardest class I've ever taken and the worst professor I've ever had.
Ted is not the best math teacher at TMCC. He would never directly answer my questions, instead he would "beat around the bush". He would tell me to go to the tutoring center in which I did, but they did not offer the help I was looking for. I NEVER had a teacher who wasn't willing to answer a simple question.
This guy should take a step off his pedestal and find a new day job. I didn't ask for life lessons every class period there coach.
Great teacher, lectures are easy to understand just do the work. Very easy going, and definitely easy to get s good grade.
He's not helpful at all.
Lambert doesn't use the actual class to time give good lectures just assumes you listen to a video made very poorly with not much explanation. This class is one you have to teach yourself in order to pass. Tutoring is the only way you can get answers.
in this class, you have to teach yourself. you will most likely find yourself using all three of you tutoring hours in the tutoring center each week just on this class. once you get a little behind its extremely hard to keep up. would not suggest this teacher to anyone, and I've only heard bad things about him from others. would rate him 0/5.
I wish I would have read these reviews sooner... He assumes you know everything and when you don't he calls you out for it. If you already took Calculus then take this class maybe it will be easier if not I suggest not taking him.
Will never take Ted again, had to drop because I was so lost. His teaching style is backwards per-say. Doesn't answer homework questions when you turn it in the same day have to wait till next class. This class, you have to teach yourself. If you get lost you will stay lost. Self teaching isn't your thing? Then take a different professor.
Probably one of the most awful math professors, EVER. You have to watch his lecture videos which don't even help when you're doing the homework. He basically tells you "this should be review and if you don't know it, go to tutoring" EVERY SINGLE LECTURE. he doesn't teach. Wouldn't recommend his class to anyone.
STUDY ALOT. STAY ALL CLASS.
Worst mistake I've ever made. It's a lot of independent work. You watch lectures on the computer and then you go over the lecture in class but when he's going over it he'll skip a lot of steps because "You should know what to do," then you're expected to do your homework based on that. Really, just take an online class because it's the same thing.
He is the most unhelpful professor I have ever had. He doesn't explain anything and makes you feel like an idiot if you don't come into the class pretty much already knowing how to do everything. He won't explain anything because "it should be review" and just tells you to go to tutoring. Doesn't teach you anything, you'll be teaching yourself.
Ted is nice if you're nice to him but to pass the class, you NEED to study the material and test hints.
Mr. Lambert gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, but I can see why he does. He expects students to walk in his class knowing everything. He is not helpful at all when you are lost or confused. He will tell you to take tutoring and he does not post up grades until the finals. If you are a visual learner, I'd recommend a different professor.
He doesn't care about any of us. He's just there for a paycheck. He expects everything to be prerequisite knowledge and he hates when he is asked questions. He is honestly the laziest teacher I've ever had: he doesn't post grades and he lectures for 15 mins if your lucky.
Ted is not a bad teacher. Be ready to learn on your own, but he does answer questions in class. His class consists of web lectures, homework, and tests. He usually gives out the entire test if you stay for the whole class. Interesting guy.
Ted isn't the best teacher by any means. His lectures last 15-20 min per class with awful explanation, he won't go step by step if need be. Homework questions will not be answered the same day you turn it in, it's always the next class. You have to teach yourself. The only helpful thing he does is gives "test hints" at the end of class.
If you want to take this class make sure you have time to go to tutoring everyday. He is a teach yourself kind of teacher and when you ask a question he will make you feel stupid for asking it in front of the whole class, he won't even answer the question. I did all the homework and lived in the tutoring center. Horrible teacher. Do not take him!!!
Ted was a great professor. Math isn't my subject but he does what he can to make sure you pass. He gives you options for extra credit, DO THEM! If you fail a test you can make it up with the extra credit. Use the tutoring center or you won't pass. He writes it out on how to pass his class, FOLLOW WHAT HE SAYS! Go to the lectures, they are useful.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. He is super smart and wrote the textbook so he makes sure it is really cheap for us, which I appreciated. I'm definitely prepared for my next math class now. You need to do exactly what he says and you will pass. He gives loads of extra credit and lets you fix mistakes on tests you did poorly on.
He is very condescending to students and he isn't there to help you. The online lectures were worthless! He doesn't go through all the necessary steps for the problem.
College math is hard, but Lambert makes it easy. The class is insanely organized. You know all due dates and requirements months in advance and the way you learn is learning not memorization. He gives second chances on tests as long as you get a few hours of tutoring. If you do everything you are supposed to( and its a lot of work), you can pass.
He's good but he usually has big classes so if you need help from the professor you most likely won't get it.
I don't know why people complain his class is easy if you just do what he says.
Lambert is a great teacher, he offers a lot of extra credit and gives test hints at the end of class. He has a really good system to ensure you go to every class, whether it is the test hints at the end of class or getting your lectures checked at the beginning of class. Just do everything he expects you to do and you will pass.
If you miss one thing in the homework, you get a 0 for that homework. He also spends the first five minutes of class lecturing about the music he likes, which was fairly irritating to me because I just want to learn about the actual material, not music. honestly, not worth the amount of effort you need to put into his class to succeed.
Ted believes in second chances. Everything (and I mean it) has a way to earn a better grade. His homework is graded on a pass-fail basis (70% or higher means you pass) and participation is graded. He has you watch lectures at home so he can focus his time in class helping you through problems. Additionally, he teaches math practically. Great prof!
He is excellent professor at tmcc.
If you need to take any math class please take his class. He is really good at teaching.
I would recommend this professor to students who need to take math class. Because he is very caring and wants every students to succeed in his class
A teacher- a pillar of support, an epitome of strength, a disciplinarian. Teacher are mentors, role model.
Ted is a knowledgeable and helpful teacher. He will consistently go out of his way to help you learn, and help you to succeed in the class. He also offers as much extra credit as you are willing to do. Some students are put off because they feel that he is condescending, but he will always respect you and help you if you ask.
Please don't take this class. He makes you watch the lectures on your own at home, and they're annoyingly difficult to follow while taking down the required notes and trying to understand all of his grammatical errors. He's a nice guy, but the amount of work you have to put into his class could interfere with your other classes like it did mine.
If you don't understand math, don't take the course. If you get a problem wrong on the daily homework assignments you WILL spend hours on, you will fail the entire homework unless you write a detailed explanation as of to why you missed the problem BEFORE you turn it in. He likes to think his class is the only one you're taking.
The class content is good, but his syllabus rules are very difficult to abide to and he has a lot of busy work such as a video lecture and then a book lecture and then in class reviews. If you don't follow his rules to a "T" there is no room for error. I feel I learned a lot, I just don't care for the teachers teaching method.
He is caring and wants to see his students pass, but it's a lot of work on the students part. It's confusing how he teaches a lot of the content. Plus, all of the homework that the students are doing is in his words, so the students can't hear something being taught in other words unless they go to tutoring.
Yeah, good luck. He's unhelpful, rude, condescending. Doesn't teach, has a horrible grading standard etc. etc.
Don't take this class. you get a flash drive with the lectures that don't make sense, you do problems out of a textbook he wrote (that sucks) , and gives zeros on homework if there's ONE problem wrong. He is the worst professor I have ever taken to the point where I had to drop the class because there was no way i was going to pass.
I have finally known much more about him after I took that class. He wasn't very helpful all the way and pushed too much his student on a different way to earn their credit. I just wanna say I will be extra careful next time to study in one of the toughest and very picky professors. I will need my advisor to look for me the better professors.
Terrible teacher. You basically take the course to teach yourself, and you get a load of homework every night. Youre lectures are on a stupid flash drive that you watch at home plus text book reading. So basically he doesnt teach you anything, you do everything from home.
Great class for an easy credit IF you can self teach. You have to teach yourself or find help outside of class. The class was in a large auditorium with 40+ students. Homework is due before, and lecture notes are stamped before class. To turn in makeup work, you must do 2 HOURS of tutoring from the tutoring center or go one of his favorite restaura
Professor Lambert's MATH126 class is held in a lecture hall. Meaning there will be up to 50 students in his classes so he wont be able to help individual students that often unless you ask after class hours. His textbook is quite helpful in understanding the concepts, but you will spend alot of your own time learning the material.
I was forced to take his class because of time. I read his reviews and was really worried. It turns out he is great! You get a 100% on homework even if you have wrong answers as long as you check them in the back and say they are wrong. If you forget to turn something in there is always a second chance. He always answers any questions.
This professor will go out of his way to fail you so make sure that you can teach the material to yourself because he is not clear what so ever. He loosely connects the answer from the work he shows. Make sure you do all of the homework and it is correct because one fine tune error and you get a 0. Its his way or the high way buddy.
He is great He tells you how to do well in the class. If you follow his directions on the homework even if it is wrong you get all the points. He explains how the math works so it is easy to remember. He answers all questions He really cares if you pass.
LOTS of outside work! You watch all lectures at home. During class you turn in lecture notes & homework & he answers questions. If one empty space on homework, you get zero credit. You have to explain what you tried & where you got stuck. He gives second chances but you have to work for it. He's a nice person but I only passed by going to tutoring.
Easy to pass. As long as you actually do the homework you will pass his class. He also gives test hints in class that are exactly like the tests. If you dont do good on a test he gives you a bunch of extra credit opportunities. Overall hes a great professor!
This semester was definitely changed because of the virus so I understand if that was the reason that I found this teacher so hard. But the class is self teach, So if you have problems learning without much help form the professor, this is not the class for you. He provides a lot of opportunity to fix your grades but I went to this class to learn.
Tests are very difficult. His lectures are lacking in time and clarity. He does not explain the answer to specific questions and has a poor attitude.
I have never liked math before Ted.
If you need help in anything he will teach you in a way that sticks. I dont know why any past student gave a bad review. Maybe cause two other students in his math class that were also in another class of mine didnt care about passing or even applying their self. He gives you more then enough time to complete. 100% recommend.
Was confusing at times. ie. I didn't know if we finished the course already but hadn't reached the minimum time, we either had to completely finish all exams before mid-semester or figure out a way to get the time up lol. As long as you kept up as suggested (1hr per day), you'll do fine. Review tests are way harder than the real ones, take notes!
Super easy class, everything is pretty much self paced, only 3 major exams (notes & graphing calculator allowed) & 2 projects/assignments. Only thing you have to worry about is meeting the hours on aleks. I didn't use the text book at all (even though it was "required", I did perfectly without it).
Absolutely horrible. Refuses to explain when you have questions and will just send you to tutoring. The exams are easy, but he does not know how to teach. The only reason I am passing the class is that I am retaking the class so I already know the material and how to teach it to myself since he won't teach, even though we pay him to teach us.
This class was great when he was there. Left for most of the semester due to surgery so wasn't super available while away. Loved the Aleks program and the lectures he posted were helpful.
This professor was not good probably the worst professor he basically didn't have good lectures did some homework problems but then started to hybrid then the first week he decided to do a big test if you didn't show up you would get a zero and he was very nice respectful. refused help tells you too go tutor for help refuse to care for students
This semester he used a different method of instruction. It was a math game that I don't feel he was sufficiently prepared to use. When students had questions or concerns he directed all of us to the tutoring center, including those who attended his support class. He wasn't supportive in class and wasn't responsive in canvas.
If you miss one class there is almost no guarantee that you will pass the class, if you get below a 60% on any exam, most likely you wont pass the class, there is an exam or quiz at the beginning of each class, he only teaches you the lesson once and then you are on your own with the missions he creates. Easy work tho
Professor Lambert's class was a bit different. The class is based on a game used to demonstrate different math skills. He'd lecture and then have us do “missions” (math problems). It was a new way of learning which you will have to get used to. He does offer extra credit opportunities which helps a lot. Can use notes on test and quizzes. Thanks!
Class was very clear. explained everything. just do the work no surprises. First time I understood math.
When the class was over he asked me to hang out with him to listen to music. That is completely inappropriate. His extra credit is also about music, not math.
His class is not the straightforward math class that Math 120 is supposed to be. The whole class is based on this math board game (he himself made, with many errors… and expensive) that is overly confusing. Yes, extra credit is given — for an arm and a leg. Also, not a morning person? You will be greeted with loud music.
As a newer student to college who struggled with math concepts, this was a challenging class due to the organization of assignments. The board game that each assignment was based on, though engaging and creative, was often confusing. It is helpful to personally be dedicated to spend time on homework outside of class and to be organized to succeed.
I never met Ted in person as it was an online class, but he emailed us a lot and made sure we were doing good. The only reason I wouldn't take his class again is it was TOO easy. The ALEKS program was the only thing we did the whole semester besides the final (which you have 3 attempts and don't have to redo the questions you got right previously).
I would not recommend this professor, especially for new students or those who struggle with math. The class is poorly organized, and assignments can be confusing. Missing even one class makes it very difficult to pass. If you score below 60% on any exam, you are very unlikely to pass the class.
