Easy teacher. Tells you whats going to be on the test the day before and lets you correct each other's papers. There about four or five speeches taht you have to do. The only problem is that he emphasizes to much of your overall grade on one outline.

Take his class over the summer/winter. You'll stay more focused and it goes by faster. He's a good teacher and won't hesitate to point out strengths/weaknesses which you can respect him for.

Very easy and basic, just do and study what he tells you.

whoever did not get higher than a B in his class than there is something wrong with you not him..he is very easy and explains what is expected of you...he spend almost a month just talking about the outline-how can you not do good? plus he gives a lot of time for everything.

the only strenuous part of the class was in the beginning when you have to make that crazy study guide. but for the rest of the semester, bottom line is follow directions and make speeches sound the way he likes them (sell yourself out if you must...anything for an easy A).

I can't believe these comments! Hes the greatest, funniest guy. And a speech class in general, no matter who you take it with, is simple. Rating a professor will always be subjective and based on the grade recieved by the student. Overall I had a great summer with Levatter.

Seriously disgregard all of the negative comments about Mr.Levatter, he is a wonderful teacher. I had an intense fear of speaking in front of people before I took this class, and now I have no problem with it. He talks through things very clearly, sometimes too much, but overall he is really easy to understand and a fun guy.

He's a great teacher. Just make sure you take all your speeches seriously. Do the outline, the research, etc. His tests are really easy too!

Slightly annoying class. OK teacher...a little boring (can try too hard to make jokes).You will need the book. Tests are easy but he's tough on the speeches. So if you're looking to slide, don't try this class. He's an OK professor, but it was just boring. 4 speeches.

Not the worst teacher, but does find himself very funny. Often waste some time to tell jokes or look around the class to see if people are responding to his humor. An overall nice guy, but seems to want to make the class hard, often talks about "weeding people out". Will often talk about how much you should take his other class before this one.

Proffessor Levatter is a very fair teacher, and is supportive of students that are nervous during their speeches. His work load is very reasonable.

He's so nice and the class is easy. I don't mind public speaking so I did well. You do have to read though for the quizzes. I took him during winter so we didn't read as much. Highly recommend him.

Prof. Levatter has never made fun of anyone in our class full of minorities (many Armenians) in our class. He is very fair and always politically correct. Nice/Great Teacher. He is pretty easy as long as you pay attention to him during class, and do your work and research the topic you choose. Be extra careful on the outlines and always ALWAYS bring your tape to class. And notice how small his ankles are!

Prof. Levatter is extremely clear. He let's you know EXACTLY what he expects from you--and all you have to do is do it. He is more than willing to take time to help you with speeches and I highly recommend taking advantage of this!

Comes off as a nice man at first but he's definitely biased. His quizzes are easy because he provides the questions he's going to ask before the quiz.seems to like speeches that deal with politics.Some students in my class got good grades for giving overtime speeches , while others got docked points. Miss more than 3 classes&he takes off points.

This teacher is very very easy. I took him during winter. You have 5 very easy quizzes. No midterm or final. He makes you feel very comfortable before and after your speech. You do need to practice your speeches before you go. He assigns book work but you really dont need to read because he well lecture about all the main points. EASY TEACHER

I loved this class, he has a good sense of humor and he is very straight forward on what he is looking in your outlines and speeches. He is a fair grader, if you put effort in your speech/ outline he is going to give you a good grade ..etc. The topics on the sppeches are fun, and he makes the class not boring and you can look at him as a friend.

His 1st outline is hard the fact that he wants it a certain way, then yet he does give you an example of an A outline which really helps. His tests are not hard. And his speeches must be unique, clear, and have a tie back don't go over the time limit or you will be scored down. Plus he does offer extra credit twice

It was a very easy class. 4 or 5 quizzes that were multiple chpice, four speeches, and one outline. However, he is very biased in his grading and plays favorites with students. He will just give out B's to students even though they deserve A's

Best class I have ever taken. Prof. Levatter is lively and caring. He expects you to practice your speeches (he is not biased at all). He taught me so much, how to be a credible speaker, and the fundamentals of giving a good speech. Wouldnt have taken anyone else

Practice your speeches. He is blunt and will give you honest feedback. Sometimes may sound kinda rude...(two kids didn't come back to class) he is a good instructor and I have learned a lot from him. He's more funny looking than a joker.. Overall it's a good class. I had a good time

I took this class over summer. Prof. levatter was great! he gives you a study guide before every quizzes, makes you practice your speeches a lot and is also very entertaining. He makes the class very comfortable, so when you're actually going to say your speech, you're not as scared. Well recommended!

Mr Levatter is one of the best professors i ever had! He is a very humerous and fun teacher to have. I took him this summer 2010 and never bought the book because he would explain in great detail. Thanks to him I am a better public speaker. I highly reccomend you take his class! His class isn't hard if you do the work and go to class. :)

He is a great professor. He knows how the speech class works. Man with experience. "seasoned" Strict with time limits but the tests are easy because he gives a study guide. Only downside is that (so called required) $100 dollar book that we didn't even use.

Show up to class. You don't need the book at all, just take notes and study before the quiz. There are 4 speeches, relatively easy. I took the class twice and used the same speech twice and he didn't even remember. Overall, I would recommend the class just make sure you show up, that's why I failed the first time.

He's a good teacher, BUT.....Can rub people the wrong way, can be negative, insensitive with the way he words things. Unorganized as well. But we all need to grow up and take care of ourselves anyway.......Do the work and you'll do fine.

His classes are so fun, and he is really helpful if you are willing to earn a good grade. But I have to say that I think he doesn't know how to grade speeches. Awesome professor. < PERIOD Very understanding and caring for his profession. He's a bit picky on his outlines but come on he gives you samples just follow through. It was very hard to concentrate in class because of Mr.Levatters emanating beauty. Pretty easy class, you just gotta show up and do some work. You don't even have to show up all the time. He is a gorgeous man, though. The shine off the back of that head had me mesmerized. How you gon give me a B though dawg?

Easy teacher and easy class.

Pretty easy class. He tells you exactly what he wants in the speeches and he grades fairly easily. His quizzes were also easy just listen to his lectures. The only thing I didn't like was that we had to buy the speech book $80 if you bought an e-book and I did not even read a page and I can't even sell it because each student needs their own code.

His class is really simple and his quizzes are really easy (just look at notes, which is really basic). When actually presenting your speeches, just be confident about them and have a lot of easy memorable info. Honestly my last speech was a bluff, but he still give me an A on it. He's really sweet too and I love his grading.

TAKE HIS CLASS! The quizzes are real easy just 20 questions multiple choice, 3 speeches and outlines he gives you a good grade as long as you look up. Attendance counts so don't miss. I got an A. It was easy!

DO NOT MISS CLASS MORE THAN THREE TIMES that is what ruined my grade. I could have gotten a B or maybe an A, but that is my fault. Also, he is VERY STRICT on format when it comes to the outline. He gave me a D on one of them because I didn’t put roman numerals and CAP letters so make sure you do it right!!!

Speech 101 can be dreaded by most, but professor Levatter makes this class worth taking. He wants everyone to do their best & makes you feel comfortable. He's very helpful, give a lot of feedback and suggests any way he can be of assistance. If you communicate with him , he's willing to help. His lessons are helpful, many of which the book don't even cover & he's always positive. With that being said, don't take advantage and try to waste his time...he'll see it

This class is pretty awesome. Levatter has be very clear and open since day one. Always stays behind and talks to students who need help. I'm totally going to recommend him to all of my friends who need this class.

I learned more in this class than in any other speech class taken in high school or in college. He helps his student outside of the classroom. He is willing to explain things one step further to students for the purpose of clarity. I would recommend him to anyone who is nervous or doesn't have experienced doing speeches.

He's definitely a caring professor and great human being. Speech is intimidating but mainly because you don't know how to go about preparing for one. Prof. Levatter is the beeez kneees! I hated the idea of speaking in front of a class, but after taking him I am not as scared anymore. I'm actually pretty confident. Simply put, he is the best professor on campus. He truly cares about his students and wants them to not only do well in his class, but feel genuinely comfortable giving a speech. Do yourself a huge favor a take his class. I've taken 3 classes with him (Speech 101,105, 106) and wish he offered more classes.

Prof. Levatter made speech fun! 3 speeches, 4 quizzes all semester. He gives clear explanations on what he is looking for in a speech and tells you exactly what will be on the short quizzes beforehand. Follow his examples, review notes, speak about a topic you are passionate about and get help when needed and he will lead you to a well earned A.

Prof. Levatter is a great professor. he is there to help when you need a topic. dont miss class because you can only miss 3 without getting docked points. join a forensics competition to get extra credit only 3 quiz that are a cake walk if you pay attention.

Excellent teacher. Very clear about what he wants and always gives feedback as to how you can improve. He's very good about helping students feel comfortable talking in front of the class. This was my most dreaded class but I ended up getting an A. Only 3 speeches, whereas the other professors assign 5-6. Follow his directions, ull be fine.

Professor Levatter is down to earth and a very nice man. He helps his students as much as he can in order for them to improve their public speaking ability. professor Ted is amazing! I totally recommend him for speech 101!

Professor Levatter is really easygoing and is willing to help you out whenever you need help. After your speech he will tell you what you did well on and critique it as well so you can improve later on. He sets clear guidelines in how to do well in his class. Follow them and you'll be in good shape.

He was really great and helped you a lot. He always gave tips of how to improve and if he saw you made improvements, he would give you a better grade. I recommend anyone to take him. The only problem with him is that he is never in his office hours. But honestly, you never need to go there, he stays after class for a bit if you want to talk to him.

He is a nice guy who is always there for you. During 5 weeks class you will have 3 speeches and 4 multiple choice quizzes. It was a fun class; I definitely recommend his class. The book is affordable. When I read the earlier comments, and now that I know him in person I think he changed himself, because he never judged us based on our opinion.

This is probably one of the better options for speech at GCC. Mind, I took a summer course, so I might not be entirely accurate in terms of the normal session, but please note, he's rarely there, if ever, for office hours, but devotes a good amount of class time for feedback. Also, participation is graded on a sort of curve, so participate!

Prof. Levatter is an amazing speech professor. He gives you such helpful advice and is always so encouraging with students. I learned so much about giving speeches in his class. If you dread public speaking, he definitely will not make you uncomfortable during the process. Attendance is mandatory in his class. He gives easy quizzes as well.

This man has the patience of a saint. My class had a lot of painfully dumb kids in it and he would calmly repeat himself without getting annoyed. He doesn't give out easy A's but he gives people multiple chances if they're trying. My only complaint is sometimes I felt that he didn't give sufficient feedback on my speeches.

I really enjoyed speech 101 with this professor, but I really didn't like his grading method. He's funny and outgoing, and his lectures aren't boring. He does tell you what he expects in an outline of a speech, and his test aren't too hard. This class is a medium level. As long as you don't miss a speech, an outline, and a test you will pass.

Professor Levatter was very funny and helpful. I strongly advise to ask him for help if you are stuck on one of your speeches.

Professor Levatter is an amazing professor. There are 4 quizzes and 3 speeches. The quizzes are very easy and he prepares you for them. If you are stuck on a topic for a speech he will help you. If I could I would take his class over and over again. Truly amazing professor.

His class is very easy and you'll know exactly what he wants from the beginning. Its just 3 speeches and 4 quizzes, there is no final. The class is very easy just don't miss to much and you'll pass. He is very funny and in general its just a very fun class.

Levatter is great. He might seem like a boring older gentleman at first but he teaches in a very balanced way consisting of theory and practically. Follow the format he gives and practice. Talk to him, he loves participation and will try his best to help you. Only drawback might be he can be challenging for first time speakers.

Ted was an amazing professor. He likes participation which is something that is a given for a speech class. One of the most memorable Prof's I've ver had. He loves to help and lets you know what he's looking for when its time for presentations. I recommend him for any of the speech classes you might need.

Very fair grader. Attendance is crazy tho 20 points per absence whaaaaat.

TAKE HIM IF AVAILABLE FOR SPEECH 101! I took speech 101 over a short session and it was the best thing I've done so far at GCC! Listen to his quick lectures, take important notes, and use those notes to write 4 essays throughout the semester. Presenting is so easy with power points, he gives out lots of 100%. If you're nervous, he helps you a lot!

Prof. Ted is flexible with his office hours, and really accommodates to his student's needs. He helps us one on one to improve articulation and pronunciation. Ted is especially loving and kind, always encourages us to do better. It's an excellent class for people who wants to improve their speaking voice and accents.

Professor Levatter is one of the best professor. I took his Voice and Diction class and it helped me to get rid of my accent, he meets with you over the week and helps you to reach your goals, he is very caring and does not give a lot of homework. Take his class if you want an easy A and if you want to improve your articulation and accent.

Prof. Levatter is great at what he does. I had him recently and he said it was his first time coming back after a break from GCC. Still, he was well organized with his lectures, used easy to understand examples which were very helpful. He also gives good feedback on outlines and speeches that were presented so it really improved my public speaking!

Professor Levatter is an engaging speech prof. His lectures are clear, and he provides excellent feedback on speeches. The quizzes are manageable, and attendance is mandatory but worthwhile. Unstuck ai was a game-changer for my speech prep.

This is going to be the only review you need. The class is very easy coming from someone who didn't want to do this class and I don't like doing work in general. He goes over study questions for quizzes and states what is needed to be done many times. He genuinely wants to see people succeed so don't be late or absent or he'll call you out.

Professor Levatter is a good teacher because he is, firstly, a kind person. CA wildfires right at the start of the semester made me quite anxious about my ability to perform well in class but this teacher is incredibly understanding. He cares about your growth! While speaking can be anxiety inducing, he teaches various tips and tricks to improve.

I'd say he's one of the best professors at GCC. He's passionate about teaching and always willing to assist you if you need help. I don't agree with those who say he's a tough grader; he breaks down the material in a way that makes it easy to understand and provides clear rubrics so you know exactly how you are being graded. An amazing person!
