I loved this class. tests are beyond easy if you listen to him. made an A on every test, every test is 25 questions. taking him again for another class because its the best.
He is the easiest history professor here. You will take a lot of notes, but he goes slow and gives you plenty of time to write them down. The tests are super easy. Study your notes before the tests and you'll make an A.
He is my favorite professor on campus. I never use to like history, until now. Taking his class is easy. Class is not really mandatory, but if you miss class make sure you get the notes. His test are easy, they come straight from the notes.
I really like him as a professor. Super easy as long as you go to class. The test are only 25 questions long and come directly from the notes. As long as you study the notes a few time you WILL get an A. He does not take attendance but you are responsible for getting notes if you miss. He will not send them to you.
Easy A. Test are all from notes. Interestingly presented in a story like fashion. Not bad to look at either ;)
MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR BY FAR! The 4 tests are straight off the notes which he does PowerPoints over. He keeps it interesting and is super funny! HIGHLY recommended!! As long as you go to class and take the notes or get them from someone else, you'll be golden!
really fun teacher, really knows his stuff. If you show up and pay attention, you'll do fine.
Roberts is such a fun professor to take. You write lots of notes in his class but he makes it easy to understand and will wait for you to write it down. he also tells you exactly what to study for his 25 question tests. He is also hilarious and super hot
Great prof. When everyone did poorly on the first test, he changed up the way he lectured to make sure that we understood from then on. Really wish there were more profs as nice, funny, and understanding as he is. Take him!!!!
Great teacher! He always gives you a review before every test and if you study this exact terms from the review, you will be fine! Grades the essay portion hard, but everything else was very clear cut. He was very funny and made the lectures interesting with videos and movie clips!
He is a great professor! Probably one of the best at Tarleton. I have taken him for both semesters of history now and I don't regret it one bit. Even if you don't like history, he still manages to make it enteresting. Oh, and he's ridiculously good looking so you'll want to go to class even though it's not mandatory.
I took him for an 8 week course so we had three hour classes twice a week. He's entertaining in class, he tries very hard to get the points across that will be on the test and he understands that people skip but seeing as it was an 8 week course, attendance was pretty necessary to pass. His reviews are so helpful and he's not bad to look at!
Great teacher, really funny. Only used textbook for reviews
I've taken so many classes and this was by far the hardest class i've taken. I have always made all A's and I studied so hard for his tests and barley ever passed. You have 4 grades & that's it. 4 tests, and he doesn't use blackboard.
He is awesome! He has a military background so he makes learning about wars and battles so interesting! There are only 4 grades and they are exams, but as long as you study the review you are golden. He doesn't put lectures online and so you only get notes if you are in class so it is vital to attend. Great teacher!
He is a really great professor. You won't fall asleep during his lectures. He keeps it interesting and he's funny. His test are super easy as long as you write your notes and get the review. I wish I had taken him when I took 1301. I would definitely recommend him.
His class is very interesting and you learn a lot. I like him as a person but the way he teaches doesn't help me. His test are tough. There is only four test during the semester and no extra credit. Go to class!
Very helpful, you have to read the book and attend class.
Roberts is an amazing professor! Super funny and makes the lectures interesting. I took him for 1301 and 1302 and loved both classes. Highly recommend taking him. Easy to pass but be sure to study before tests since there are only 4 grades.
I suck at history! But, Ted does a really good job at making this class fun and interesting! You will have to read, but he tells you exactly what you need to read so you don't have to read entire chapters! His tests are hard if you don't study! Overall pretty good class! I was just happy to pass, I'm horrible at retaining info about history
He runs a very strict class room but for kids like me who get distracted it is a great environment to learn. He is very clear cut on what work you need to put in and what will be on the test. He is very good at what he does!
Interesting lectures. He's a veteran (enlisted and officer), which gives him some unique perspective in the military/strategic aspects of history. Tests are multi-choice, plus an essay on midterm and final. Book was scarcely necessary, except to study for essays. Take notes. He gives out test reviews so you know exactly what to study.
This was my favorite professor last year! He is hilarious and explains things very well. He mostly focuses on war, so if that's not your thing, don't take him. He only gives four tests and doesn't do a participation grade. However, I was on the edge of getting an A after the final, and he bumped me up since I always went to class.
Professor Roberts is by far my favorite professor I have had so far. I took his 8-week compressed course and it was great! He assigns 4 exams only, and you are not required to go to the lectures, but you will fail the exams if you don't. He tells history like it is a story, take good notes and you will have an easy A done in 8 weeks.
Great history teacher
Roberts is a great professor. I had him for 1301 and deliberately took him for 1302 also. I really liked his lectures. The class was really straight forward , and he was always in a great mood, giving you extra insight into what he was teaching, while keeping the atmosphere light and relatable.
Great professor and overall great guy.
Great professor, always willing to help.
Mr. Roberts is an amazing prof. Definitely one of my favorites. He is very passionate about what he teaches, he is also ex-military so he doesn't take disrespect. Textbook use is not mandatory but very helpful. Tests weren't bad as long as you payed attention and went over the reviews he gives you.
I took him for History 1302 as a night class. I like him as a person but his teaching style is very hard to learn. It's hard to know what to write down when he lectures. He does give a review but there are questions on the test that you wouldn't know. He only gives 4 tests so if you do poorly on the test then you are screwed.
History is not my best subject, but Roberts made class fun to go to. There are only 4 tests, but the information is all covered in class. I would definitely take him again and would recommend him to take for your 1301/1302 history.
Roberts is an amazing teacher. He really knows a lot of stories that help you remember the events that he will test over. Go to the lectures, all the information you need will be provided in the lectures. Read the book and make the note cards. It is an easy A if you make note cards like he tells you. He is hilarious and the lectures were good!
His slides has 2-5 terms on each slide. While everyone was copying down the terms he was saying the definitions, so you could either do one or the other. So, my friend wrote down the terms and page numbers, I wrote down the definitions he would say, & look up the pages on the terms I didn't get in class. You have to read the book if you want an A!!
He knows how to make lectures not so boring, especially when having a night class.
I freaking loved him!!! He taught everything so well!! I would completely recommend taking his class!! His test were really easy if you had good notes and halfway payed attention in class!
Listen, he is the best. Trust me.
He tells history like a story. He makes lectures interesting. I never studied because his lectures were that good. He has 4 tests they are multiple choice. Just go to class and listen, he's the best!
The only grades given are 4 tests each worth 25% of your grade. This is ridiculous given you do not do well on 1 you are in trouble for the rest of the class. The tests are also difficult because he does not teach anything on these tests. The questions are just random questions that he believes are important in history. Good luck.
I highly recommend taking him for history! He was in the military so he's very passionate about history and it shows in his lectures. I never opened the book and tests are SOO easy! They're multiple choice and he literally tells you what is going to be on the test.
Awesome teacher tests are easy because he will tell you what is going to be on the test. Be ready to write because he doesn't allow electronics outside of class. If you don't show up to class you will not pass.
He is an awesome teacher! He only has 4 exams all semester, but they are multiple choice and if you pay attention you will pass. He tells you what notes to right down and the pages in the book you need to read so you don't do a lot of reading. He gives you a study guide and it is exactly what will be on the exam. If you study it you will pass.
Roberts is a great passionate professor that you can tell isn't jaded and enjoys his job!
I took Professor Roberts as a freshman. I took his HIST 1301 night class 8-week course, I was nervous about the course only being 8 weeks and so crammed, but Professor Roberts did an outstanding job of telling the story of United States history. His teaching style is like none I have ever seen before, but it genuinely worked for most people.
One of the best professors ive ever had. He only takes four grades for the whole semester and they are all tests. He doesn't put the lecture information online so if you miss lecture you miss the information. You have to read the textbook he recommends if you want to do well on the tests. Amazing lecture teacher and has cool stories.
The only grades you have in this class are tests. Taking notes in his class is difficult, because he doesn't really have any. Be sure and go to the SI , she is amazing. I went to every SI and made reviews for every test and still didn't get the grade I wanted. I emailed him to ask for extra credit, and he didn't have the decency to email me back.
He is very funny and his lectures are interesting. His power points just have bullet points but while lecturing he will tell you what is the important information. His exams are difficult; most questions will be the important information but there will be in depth questions that will trick you up. 4 test your grade.
I love Dr. Roberts. I have never been a fan of History, but he made me love it! I loved going to class, because he always told stories about historic events like he was there. He's really cool, and very respectable. Just make sure you do good on tests, because that's all that there are for grades!
Solid guy. Lectures are good and he keeps it interesting using his own personal experiences. No homework or quizzes, but there are only four tests that count as your grade so make sure to study for them. He doesn't like tardiness so show up on time!
I loved having him. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't show up to lectures you won't do well on the tests. He only gives 4 tests and those are the only grades in the class. He gives reviews for the tests and tells you what you need to know on the review and as long as you know the stuff he says, it's easy to make an A.
You MUST attend class everday and take good notes. Mr. Roberts will tell you what will be on the test and what to expect. I took his 8-week class and we flew through the material and mostly everyone made a good grade.
With Ted, all you need to do is show up, take notes, do your outside test readings and you will be solid. All you have is 4 tests, so you have to make it count though. He is strict about leaving the classroom and phones but other than that he is a fabulous professor and a pretty awesome guy.
Come to class and take notes, his test is not hard but you can make a bad grade if you do badly on one test. No homework or quizzes.
Amazing at lectures. Can talk and talk but at the end you have a clear idea of what was going on without having to read the book. Easy A if you pay attention. Also not bad to look at
Ted Roberts was a very nice professor. If you hate history he is the professor to have because he makes it fun!
Mr. Roberts makes lectures super easy to understand, easy to pay attention. he did fail me with a 59 for the semester which is frustrating because I actually tried in his class, but I am not a good tester. he only accepts tests grades so if you are not good at testing like me, please be aware. he is also very strict and will kick you out of class.
He only has 4 grades the whole semester, which are all tests. Go to class and take good notes and pay attention well and you will pass! he is one of my favorite professors at Tarleton and is so good at what he does, and keeps class interesting with humor. you won't regret taking him. also, his SI helps a lot.
Only had 4 tests. I suck at history so I didnt do very good on them, but hell tell you whats on the test. He gives a paper for a review. He is super funny and I would definitely take his class again. He is an amazing lecturer, and is very interesting. Wont put up with electronics or kids sleeping in his class, though. Will kick you out of class
Come to every class!! Dont be late. Take notes and pay attention. He lectures but it sounds like he is telling a story. Took him for an upper level course so weekly papers and battle studies as the midterm/final. Tough grader but makes you a better writer because of it. He is funny also which is a plus!
He is a great professor and lecturer. You must pay attention in class, attendance is not a grade, but I highly recommend you go. He tells history as if he was actually there making it really easy to retain the material. Tests are not too bad but you must study! I recommend getting the book, he follows it in his lectures, super cheap on amazon.
Doesn't give homework and you only have 4 tests the entire semester, including midterm and final. Those 4 tests are the only grades for the semester. He recommends a textbook but you can get by without it, I never opened mine. Show up, pay attention, take good notes, and you'll do good. He lectures every class.
he has amazing lectures and tells so many personal stories! his only grades r the 4 tests and has no extra credit. as long as u read, take notes and show up you will be fine
Love Professor Roberts so much! His lectures are easy to understand and actually entertaining. He makes it easy to take notes and easy to do well on tests, as he wants everyone to do well. As long as you take good notes during class, the four test grades are no problem. Also, I never used the textbook once. My favorite professor!
I absolutely loved Professor Roberts! He made his classes and lectures easy and always kept you engaged. Yes there are only 4 tests for your grade, but if you take good notes and do the reviews he gives you, your guaranteed an easy B+ to A- on every test.
This class has been the greatest class I have taken here at Tarleton State. He is a great story teller that goes along with the material. The humor is spot on along with a mix of being stern with his students. He is very caring, but he will not round up a grade. There will only be 4 grades which are your exams. As long as you study, you WILL pass!
Non history lovers, take this professor!! Professor Roberts has been one of my best professors, he explains 1301 so easy, he is funny and very down to earth! If youre a liberal, you might want to stay away! But only 4 exams, no essays, no extra assignments, just take good notes and its an easy A!!
Professor Roberts was one of my favorite Professors, he is very easy if you pay attention in his class and take good notes. He only uses tests as grades so there is no homework and as longs as you pay attention during his lectures you are guaranteed to pass, because his test are almost word for word what he says in his lectures.
He is a good professor, however his sympathy for his students isn’t very high. DONT GO TO CLASS IF YOUR TIRED. If he catches you asleep he will kick you out. Also, only hand written notes are acceptable. He is against any cellular devices to be used.
You will only have 4 test grades which if you are not a good tester this is not a class for you. There will be no extra credit what you make on those 4 test is your grade
Definitely go to class or you won’t pass, he doesn’t make attendance mandatory but all the notes are only given during the lecture. His class is easy and doesn’t require a lot of studying, as long as you go to the lectures and pay attention it’s an easy class. You can only take handwritten notes and technology is not allowed during class.
This professor lookin good.
Make sure to sit close to the front. He is strict at first, but then is super chill and approachable. You have to go to class to get a good grade, but he doesn't grade attendance. His only grades are 4 test and they aren't comprehensivee.
He is a great professor. He is very knowledgeable and gives entertaining lectures. You will only be graded on the 4 tests. Try to attend every lecture, but he does not take attendance. He gives study guides and gives you everything you need to pass the class.
He is my favorite teacher on campus.
He was very entertaining during his lectures. He always found a way to make it enjoyable. His exams are 100% lecture/reading based. The exams are the only assignments in the class. He went over course material in an understandable way, and answered any questions to the best of his ability. 10/10 I would take again.
Great Professor, knowledgeable! His lectures are always awesome. Make sure you have pen, paper and print out the slides, reviews, and readings. No electronics in class and no daily homework BUT only 4 test. If you're like me and don't test well, schedule a meeting and he will go over what will be on the test. 10/10 would take again!
By far the best professor I have ever taken. Would definitely take again.
If there was ever a professor that I wish I could have a class with again, it would hands down be Mr. Roberts. His military experience and amazing storytelling made this the most exciting class that I have ever had. I looked forward to going every time. Go to class, pay attention, and take notes. You could learn a lot from his classes.
He gives AMAZING lectures, He is kind of scary at the beginning but he is willing to work with you if you communicate, try, show him respect and SHOW UP TO CLASS. Great guy, I'm taking him for 1302.
AMAZING!! I wish I could take him for 1302! Be ready to write your notes with pen and paper. His lectures are very interesting. Attendance is not mandatory but highly encouraged. Take the time to review your notes weekly. Make sure to be ON TIME and have your PHONE away. He is not scared of calling anyone out.
Best professor I've ever had. I've always found history boring, but he is so entertaining, you'll want to attend class. No hw, only grades are 4 exams. No electronics either; pen & paper only. However, he legit tells you what to write down WORD FOR WORD and that's essentially what's on the exam. Show up, pay attention, and study a quizlet = EZ A+
As a ROTC cadet this course was very easy. Be prepared to learn Chicago style. Professor Roberts will provide feedback after every paper, correct your mistakes and you'll grade will improve. Google Quizlets for the quizzes.
I was not a huge fan of him. I'm not surprised he has many people who adore him, he fits that stereotypical Texan mindset. I like the class set up of no homework and only tests however the constant political whining and complaing left little to be desired for me. You aren't my political coach, just my professor. Teach me history and move on.
He's a super knowledgeable professor who always makes class less boring. The one thing that I would change about this class if the fact that there are only four tests and they cover a ton of material.
This professor is accessible outside of class and will help you review for tests. However, I wouldn't recommend taking this professor if you are a bad test taker, since you will only be graded by 4 tests. When taking notes you are only allowed to use a pen and paper. Class goes by pretty fast though because he makes the lectures interesting.
This is probably THE BEST history professor you will ever take. As long as you show up to class, take notes verbatum as they are on the board, and study the notes you will without a doubt pass his class with a high b or a. Regardless of the fact that your grade is baised on only 4 tests, he is still the best. You just have to actually try.
Ted Roberts is a great teacher. He is very lecture heavy, but makes it so interesting. He gives lots of background knowledge and really knows what he is talking about. I would 10/10 recommend Mr. Roberts!
Mr. Roberts is great. Attendance isn't mandatory, and there's no papers that you need to write or homework for that matter. Your only grades are your exams (there's 4). He doesn't post the lectures online so the only way you get the notes is if you're in class. Just make sure you study and you'll pass the class no problem.
Mr. Roberts was the best teacher I got out of Tarleton. All you need to do is come to lecture. His lectures just feel like story time, so they do not feel drawn out or boring. The only grades in his class are 4 tests, but if you study what he gives you then you'll be fine.
