Dr. Leary is an excellent professor. He is knowledgeable, clear on what he expects from his students, and is fair. He doesn't trip you up and he wants his students to do well. Excellent class discussions. Great experience in a subject I didn't really like before I took his class. He made it interesting and now I like psychology!

He Loves to get the students involved and tries to keep them awake by asking questions and letting them fill it in. He finds interesting topics for students to be intrested in and really wants each of us to succeed. He is encouraging and makes us feel like we know what we need to know.

Great class came in with a bit of interest and am currently very interested. So much so that I may minor. Very inviting and creates a great moral for the class involving everyone and supporting each student. One can never be afraid to ask questions due to his personality and how willing to help he is. Great teacher I highly recomend.

Dr. Leary is a great professor, the class is very entertaining. The book is always used and it really doesn't matter if you take him during the day or night he will keep you interested on the subject until the end.

Its a big class but he goes out of his way to try and learn everyone's name through participation in class questions. Definately goes through the material and makes it understandable so that you're ready for the tests and you actually understand what's being discussed

Great teacher! He does not stick to the book in discussions because he pushes students to look and apply the readings to real situations. He is VERY positive and active in his teaching and actually takes time to get get to know you (even in a class of 50 or 150). He reviews very well for tests and if you study, the test are stress-free.

Leary is a very helpful professor and makes the class interesting. Psychology in itself is not an easy course and it should not be taken lightly. The grades are comprised of 4 tests including the final and a presentation. The tests and not necessarily easy but if you study and pay attention in class you will do fine.

Dr. Leary offers a very stimulating classroom environment where student interest and class discussion is key. His tests are well thoughtout and upto completion of this course, a student will walk away with the knowledge and understanding of general psychology. PSY 4913 is a directed studies course, it concentrates on leadership skills. Dr. Leary makes the class extremely entertaining with out leaving the learning behind. This class is a great way to learn about yourself and your personality. I would extremely recommend this class, specially if you think you're a leader.

If you show up for class and pay attention you'll learn what you need to know in order to do well. Class is very interesting so that's not very hard to do. Key concepts are also easy to learn with relate-able examples and class input. Class participation is not mandatory but highly encouraged.

Awesome professor. I recommend you to attend class unless you understand and know the material very well. The class is hard but he attempts to help you understand everything. Before our two exams, he will review and will help you with anything you may not understand. There are two lab reports, and a research paper due. Recommend!

Dr. Leary one of the best professors I have had so far at FGCU. You can tell he really love what he teaches, and he has a lot of passion when he lecture. Loved the class, took AP Psych in high school but didn't get the credit. But his class is so much fun and you learn a lot. I plan on taking him again in higher level psychology classes and having psychology being my minor because of his class. He really make you interested to learn, but be warned the lecture makes it tempting to skip, DONT DO IT!!!

The book we used, Discovering Statistics Using IBM SPSS Statistics was probably one of the best text books I've ever seen. It is humorous, helpful and interesting to read!!! Highly recommend!

This class is by far the most helpful Stats course to take for any Psych Majors. The course itself is easy to understand and the book that is required by the course is not only hilarious but also easy to understand with helpful tools to get you through the SPSS program. I definitely recommend this class to everyone! Professor Leary is amazing!

I recognized I was weak in Statistics, so I took the course to strengthen that area of study. Now, I excel at statistics; very confident in abilities. This course is an applied practical statistics course, giving you detailed specifics using SPSS software. I highly, highly, recommend this class. in addition, and as always, Dr. Leary is great!

I failed psychology once, and hated it. So I went to retake it with Leary and I got an A! I now love psychology because of him. His tests are easy if you read what you are supposed, you watch cool videos, and he cares about his students. Made class fun and easy!

Any comment that says that they failed or did not like the class is probably because they didn't put in the effort. While Leary may be a little disorganized, he makes sure that everyone is prepared for the test by letting you know what pages to read & what concepts to discover. He makes Gen Psych interesting & fun. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Great man, but not a great professor. He does not teach! You really have to teach the material to yourself and earn the grade for yourself. The only grades were a midterm, final, and a group project, so you really have to work hard teaching yourself the material if you wanted a good grade. However, he is so funny and nice!

Fun. Come to class and participate and you earn your A. Comments in class gets you "bonus points" you may or may not ever get, (because he never writes them down and must give out at least 10 each class) but he remembers you and will help you get those extra couple points if you need them for the A. Attendance is VERY helpful, but not mandatory

If you have a chance take Directed Studies with Dr. Leary. you don't want to miss it! Some great readings, a lot of teamwork and what we learn is very useful. His war stories about the business world are hilarious. This keeps class really interesting. I can't wait to take him again. 5 stars for leary.

He is a well respected teacher in Psychology. He gives three tests which are difficult, there is a paper and presentation as well which is easy if you have done research before. So if you are not a good test taker I would skip this one. I would recommend if you are willing to read just like any other class.

He's a great professor but does not teach! You will pass if you study your own notes from reading the chapter. He doesn't provide anything that helps you study for the tests, but if you study his tests will be easy. Read the chapters and you will get the grade you want! Otherwise, he is an amazing and hilarious professor! I looked forward to class.

Mr. Leary is extremely passionate about what he does. I enjoyed his class a lot! My only regret is not studying as hard for my first exam because he only gives 3, and a group presentation (which is extremely easy.) Because of this, I received a B- but if I could do it over again I would still pick him. Plus, we went the month of Nov without a test!

This was an internship class and Dr. Leary was very helpful in finding a great internship for everyone but provided great feedback on how to do well in the specific environment each student was in and he was always available to meet and discuss what was going on.

Taking Dr. Leary for online makes you want him for face to face, he is very helpful and caring and creates really good discussions to post. this guy rocks on line and he is always available for office hours and is there if you need him. You must prepare for on-line tests. questions are scrambled with a time limit. I definitely recommend him!

He spends a lot of time going over what you need to know for the tests (i.e. know this, know that, read this page) but in my opinion as long as you read the assigned chapters you could get by without the lecture!

You don't have to show up for *most* lectures but GO TO THE EXAM REVIEWS, he tells you exactly what's on the test. One criticism: it takes a while to get grades and emails back.

Professor Leary is a great professor! His classes are fun and you really feel like you learned a lot by the end of the semester. We had a couple of SPSS assignments, a group presentation, a research proposal and 2 exams. His exams are extremely difficult. Some of the questions on the exams cover topics not discussed in class or in the textbook.

Outside of the classroom, he has written multiple peer reviewed articles, that have provided a wealth of knowledge to many organizations throughout the country. I enjoyed his methods so much, that I asked to be in his Fall 2021 Intern course.

This was by far the best class I have taken at FGCU. If you do all 9 of the assignments this class is a very easy A. (i counted, he's only given 9 assignments this whole semester! All super easy btw) I would definitely recommend this as a summer class.

I took him just to get Summer credits and his class was very simple and easy to follow. Only a few assignments for the month, none of which are difficult, and he's an easy grader too. All of his test you can find on Quizlet, making everything even more easy. Highly recommend if you need a quick elective to pick up.

Short summer class that consisted of 2 discussion posts w/ responses + 2 online exams w/o lockdown. Exams are based on the textbook, but he does give out study guides for each chapter. The professor responds quickly to emails and provides good feedback. Overall, great class. Very informative.
