Professor Teresa Cheatham was very challenging and full of energy, esp. at 7 pm. She really cares about her students' achievement. Lessons are very interesting and creative. You really have to work hard in this class. She does expect a lot out of her students. She prepares you for university level writing. Take her if you want to transfer.

Theresa is deeply committed to her students and is really compassionate about personal issues with writing anxiety. I can't believe I've jumped from a C to an A this semester. Theresa has really helped me so much because she has her own office hours after class, and I can get so much help. Prof. C is an excellent instructor and sets the bar high in her 103 class as it is above Freshman Comp. She makes students earn their grades and the class feels like you are at a university. I am at Berkeley now, and I am thankful she prepared me for univ. level writing and the real world of higher ups expecting me to do my vey best. Take her.

this was the first English class I had taken in 20 years and had to work hard for an A. Gothic horror was a brand new subject to me, there was a big reading and writing load, but since then every essay I have written in other classes have gotten high marks. Cheatham was one of the toughest teachers I had at Cerritos. Her teaching style is different. Don't be late, make sure your work cited page is excellent, and be ready to write an essay every week (summer course). That being said, she requires a lot of work, BUT IT IS SO WORTH IT. Chetham's 9 week English 100 class is really challenging, but has prepared me for English 103. She works hard to make sure we understand how to write an essay. She is really helpful and doesn't play favorites. She sticks to her syllabus, which the class likes. The readings are good because you do not have to buy a book. They are all online.

Great class! Professor C's Gothic horror themed class was unique, it made homework and essays easier to do because they really captured my attention. However, if English isn't your best subject, you're really going to have to work for it. I recommend 18 week classes for those who struggle in English and recommend this class to serous students only!

I would definitely say that English is my least favorite subject but Cheatham made learning it way more understandable. She is literally my favorite teacher I have this semester. Best eng teacher at cerritos. Her class is tough so I recommend taking the 18 wk class instead. She is tough grader, but it will benefit you in the future, she helps you with her essays if you ask for help, and she is always there to help. The best english professor at cerritos college!!Her essays are not long minimum 4 pages long, but must end at the end of page 4. The lectures are not boring since her theme is Gothic. She gives great feedback on each assignment and gives extra credit. She does not accept late or absents however and you will get homework everyday but you really do learn and gain skills.

She's an amazing professor. For my first semester in college it was a smooth transition thanks to her help. I totally recommend that if you take her class get all the information and take it in she gives valuable life lessons and strategies you can use through the rest of your educational career. Also she teaches on the themes of gothic horror and it is phenomenal you will honestly never be bored the stuff she lectures about are so interesting.

Prof. C helped me to realize the difference between HS and college in her Learning Comm. class - my 1st semester. We wrote on cool topics like dreams, myths, fairytales, gothic, and scifi. My writing improved alot. LC profs are not only teachers but mentors. I liked that we know about teacher's lives to help with our futures. I liked her stories.

She is a hard grader because she expects the most from her students. Cool teacher, with fun lectures, but sometimes she'll disagree with your analysis on certain films, and reading. With that being said if she disagrees with you on an essay analysis, she will doc you points if no evidence defends your points.

Took Professor Cheatham for a 9 week class, the material was not exaggerating heavy but it was very stressful. Back to back essays, one after the other and some essays do overlap one another. The class was 9 wks, accelerated which kicked my butt but totally cool b/c you learn so much in a short time. Interdisciplinary topics (gothic, magic) and easy laid out essays. At UCI right now in a competitive psychology program. There is a ton of writing. Prof. Cheatham did a stellar job preparing me. She ONLY teaches 9 week accelerated classes, so yes shes on top of the papers and fast pacing. People cant complain of this because to pass a 9 week class, you still have to do 18 weeks of required work in half the time.

Expect a lot of work because its accelerated. Shes so helpful and has an easy step by step online class. Im learning A LOT!!! Love it!

Signed up for the 9 week fast paced in person class, but with C-19, its online. Really easy step by step modules, no books, good feedback on drafts, quick grading turn around, easy to read assignments/diagrams. Shes super helpful and emails quickly. Class moves fast because its accelerated. Shes on top of everything and feels like she cares.

Cheatham's online class is really cake b/c it's got simple steps to follow. Super clear, interesting assignments with weekly videos and reminders and fast email responses. She will keep you on track. She even gives detailed pointers on drafts to improve essays. Because of this, I got my A! Even at a distance, I can see she cares. Glad I took her.

She is super cool, she had us do three major essays. We had to work in groups for a couple projects so it wouldn't hurt to get to know your classmates. She is a tough grader but she gives great feedback and lets you rewrite your essays to get a better grade. Our essays were on art and music videos which was cool. Shes super chill i loved her class

Not exactly the easiest course, but I think its the pressure of wanting to give your best draft to Professor C that makes it tiring, as opposed to the actual course material being difficult. She cares for you if you care for the class. Theres clear grading criteria and she guides you on what she expects from each essay/ exam (VERY thoroughly).

Shes on top of her class!! Very caring emails to help us learn writing and quickly responsive with emails and grading so you feel taken care of. Designed an easy step by step class with no books, zoom or scheduled meetings b/c many students work and have kids. Highly recommended class to polish your writing up and become confident in arguing.

Prof. Cheathams amazing class is online. She created easy, no brainer modules to follow. If youre not tech savvy, this is a good set up. There are only 4 essays based on cool topics. She communicates quickly and grades fast. Its an advanced comp class, so students are expected to work for their grades and know how to navigate online.

It is difficult for me to describe to you all in very few words how hardworking she is and how much she cares to see her students do the best that they can. I took her ENLG 100 Accelerated class; 4 essays: one research, one comparative, and two analytical. She gives helpful feedback on essays. Literally, just follow the format she gives for the essays and you're virtually set. Easy, but you have to do the work.

Teacher is highly recommended. Very interesting critical thinking class with a play, novel, anime/manga, and film. Canvas modules nicely arranged, so students can easily navigate the class. Essays are a reasonable length with clear, helpful feedback to tell you what to work on. This is an advanced writing class in 9 weeks, so it moves fast.

Ms Cheatham created an amazing literature writing class. She has cool anime unit. The class is a fast paced 9 week one with only 4 essays. There is one every 2 weeks. She answered all of my questions and was always available for office hours. Dont believe any fake negative reviews from immature students who should know what they signed up for.

I am thankful I took her. Had a health scare. She worked with me to get me through her 9 weeks class. Doesnt give up on her students. I was able to finish the class because of her help. If you want a teacher who knows her stuff and puts students first then take her. Stats: 4 essays, no books, easy to follow online unit, quick grading and emailing

Took her inclass English 100 9 weeks last March before Covid and loved this challenging fun class that made me actually like to write. Shes got a great sense of humor and motivates me. I took her online 103 class and still had a meaningful learning experience to write more deeply and argue persuasively. Inclass or online- she rocks. Recommended!!

I loved this class. I took it over the summer and all we had to do was essays. Her guidelines would sometimes give us the format of the essay she wanted which helped a lot and would give great advice when grading our essays. We were allowed redo one essay and send it back in and even had an essay based off of an anime. I highly recommend her.

Prof. Cheatham is HIGHLY organized and made it SUPER easy to follow instructions with step by steps guides. Her books/films are fun!, she even incorporated anime to improve your critical thinking skills. I'm a business major and took her class to increase my confidence in writing in a descriptive fashion. Trust me, her class is worth the work.

I took the 9-week online class and thought I was going to fail but I really loved this teacher made sure to do the essays on time and even gives you feedback. I recommend her, you will enjoy the materials. Makes you really think.

Great class! Took in 2021. Ignore fabricated rating under mine. Student must have taken in 2021 not 2022 b/c prof just started teaching this summer! Why is student rating over a year later? Alerted RMP, didn't take off. 4 papers/6wks-not every week! Saw this while showing my friend her ratings to take her. Trust me: excellent professor, easy A!

Very well organized online class with clear directions and interesting writing assignments. No books to buy. 4 essays in this 6 wk summer class (18wks condensed into 6). Prof TC is very creative, responsive, gives good feedback on essays and sends reminders when work is due. I really grew as a writer and highly recommend her. Gives bonus points!

An amazing summer! Gives in-depth directions to help guide us in composing our papers, which makes the class easier. Professor Cheatham taught me a lot thanks to her feedback. I was able to go from a C to an A because I could rewrite my paper. Definitely recommend for a summer class.

As an older student after being away from school many years, Theresa made my transition back to school so nice because she worked with me to improve my writing skills, she was patient and encouraging and helped me to gain confidence. She answers emails quickly which is important in a summer class. She really has a heart for her students.

At first I was terrified to take this 6 week summer class, but let me say that Cheatham is an amazing professor who taught me critical thinking and gave me the confidence I need to advance in my writing journey at the university level when I transfer by pushing me to excel. The class is easy to understand and really well organized.

So far loving the summer class with the support I am receiving from Prof. Cheatham with her positive feedback as she pushes me to rise to a higher level because she sets the bar high. I need to be able to write well for my future career, and this class is really preparing me for it.

I loved this class and the professor is chill. The assignments were fun and not boring like others. You analyze a variety of poems, musicals, and animes. And you look at a few controversial topics too which is fun. If you're not very good at writing then you'll be struggling with that in this class, but my only issue was the research project.

Professor Cheatham was so amazing. She is really understanding and an amazing professor. There is a lot of writing, but her course was extremely interesting. I wish I could take this class again.

The assignments are very clear you wont get lost if you fail this class its simply because your just not trying. Professor Cheatham is a wonderful professor. She provides clear instructions on what to do and makes it clear what she would like from her students on the papers. As long as you follow her instructions and guidelines, you are set. She provided us with multiple reminders to turn in assignments nearing the deadline which I found to be helpful.

Prof. TC is an incredible teacher. Ignore the retaliatory March 5 untrue reviews below! Students do not know class grades (Eng 103 review). Can't be "lecture heavy"- no lecture-online (Eng 100 review). Took her for English 100 AND 103 online.Challenging/highly intelligent classes with interesting lessons that teach writing. Professor Cheatham's Class is one of the best I have taken. I have become a better writer after taking her class and she motivates students to do their best, by offering great support from day one and offering great structure within the course for students to excel and take pride in their work. I will take her class again!I highly highly Recommend!

Responding to the May 3 untrue neg comment below. This is a half time 9 wk class with only 4 essays (reasonable amnt of work). It is an adv comp class, not intro. The prof is very caring, communicative and gives helpful advice and chances to improve. She is a really awesome/fair prof. I am leaning a lot and improving b/c English is my 2nd lang.

Prof Teresa taught an outstanding 6 weeks summer class that really helped me to improve my critical thinking and refine my writing skills. I am a CSULB student. Class univ style but w/ more caring, personal help. No books, 4essays, great feedback. Highly recommend if transferring and want a good writing foundation for harder classes in the future.

FT working family man trying to go back to school after 10 years. Prof Cheatham was the perfect prof to support returning students. Her interesting curriculum is reasonably challenging with 4 argument essays, extra credit for on time submitting, rewrites, no penalty late policy. She is efficient in her email replies/grading. Loved the creative theme of social protests with a play, film, artwork and anime. 4 essays. Passionate teacher for the arguments and students. Always helpful, communicates a lot with the class. Fast emailer and grader. Good materials to help write essays and gives detailed feedback. Sets reasonable expectations. One of my favorite online classes!

Argument through lit class does not disappoint. Fascinating Japanese lit focus w/ ghost stories, manga, anime, poetry. 1 novel & 4 papers with little assignments on the way. Prof. C loves her students and class & is really involved with HW reminders, constant announcements, quick responses to questions, gives second chances, etc. Recommend!!!

Prof. C is a caring teacher! I was going to post a great review when I saw TWO false reviews claiming that she shows bias against students and is culturally insensitive for a class she does not teach! There are two posts by the SAME student for Eng 100 on12/14. She teaches Eng 110 & 103. This is retaliatory to discredit her with untrue accusations.

Currently have a 91%. Really love this fast paced 6wk summer class for critical thinking/argument b/c Prof makes it interesting and relevant with art and social justice themes. Quick emailer & grader. Gives fair critiques with areas of strengths/weakness. She does a great job to push me to write well for my future business and law studies at UCLA!

Amazing professor! Everything is clearly explained and organized. There shouldn't be any misunderstandings of the assignments. This course was based on Japanese literature, so it was really interesting to learn. I really enjoyed it.

Prof. Cheatham is one of the best professors I have ever taken. She's passionate about the stuff she teaches and really cares for her students. There are 4 essays total, with an opportunity to rewrite 1, she gives tons of feedback as well. The work is easy with 2-3 assignments per week, and if you do the reading, you'll be just fine! Professor Cheatham's class is a real challenge, but if you put in the work, you'll become a better writer. The feedback can be tough, but it's valuable. I found Unstuck AI super helpful for test prep.

Prof. C's class content is so creative and interesting with examining social protests thru a play, musical, art res. paper, anime. We did an art gallery and class poetry page. Papers are full of detailed feedback and really helps to know how to improve as a writer. Gives EC for on time papers and a rewrite for a new score if you mess up. Recommend!

thought the class moves very fast, she is very organized and provides a lot of help to get through the class. total of 4 essays but they are spaced out and gives enough time to finish them, she also gives example papers that are really helpful on where to start for drafting. lastly, she doesn't take too long to respond to emails.

She's a great English Professor. She allowed me to submit an essay that I didn't get the chance to submit when it was due. It was a nine week course but she didn't go terribly fast. The only thing I will say is you have to be on top of the work, but that's just how college is. She doesn't allow late work, but not many professors do.

Cheatham was an amazing professor, it was such a fun class and we got to be so creative. Very great class, would reccommend!

Prof C is highly recommended for this accelerated critical thinking class. Online design is organized and straightforward. There's 4 essays in 9 weeks. Reasonable workload. Great class for working students. Her feedback is helpful and she communicates with daily announcements and quickly returns grades/emails. She is encouraging and very friendly.

Concerned student here! After contacting RMP about the 4/9 and 4/10 unfair and inaccurate comments made by an angry student when out class just started and our first essay not graded yet, the neg reviews are not removed. This prof is a great educator who cares about students and is trying hard to teach online. Give her a chance and fairly review.

Great class!! Please know English 103 has 4 essays whether it is a 9,15, or 18 week format. This class is 9 weeks which is double the work in half the time. PLEASE EXPECT a heavy workload. Ignore comments from complainers who CHOSE the class!! It's not ok to blame Teacher Teresa for doing HER job. She's organized, communicates, and cares about us!

Cheatham has a unique online class set up. She focuses on process rather than the final essay. Along the way she assesses with constructive feedback on a proofread first couple of paragraphs sample. She provides detailed instructions and student writing samples. Guidelines are complete and offer structure, thesis examples and grammar/quote review.

Thank you Prof. Cheatham for an awesome last 9 weeks!! Highly recommended to take this intellectual and challenging critical thinking class. I benefited from her professional critiques of my work to grow as a writer. She is interested in our feedback on our writing and works with students to offer spot checks, rewrites, no penalty late essays. =)

I loved this class, she was amazing. I found that the course work was interesting and the things we had to write about made me want to write essays. She was very patient when I had questions and responded very quickly. I would recommend staying on top of the work but even then it's not very difficult.

I am a fan of Prof. Teresa's creative social justice OL class. I really learned so much about thinking more deeply about issues and how to apply this to my writing. I worked super hard to go from a C to A with her advice. She got back to me quickly. Always friendly in email and gave me more confidence. For a short term class, it's worth the work.

Wanna finish fast but learn and improve? Take Teresa's ACCELERATED 9 week class- do 18 weeks in 9. Know what u sign up for. There are neg reviews about a ton of work, but duh… it's a 9 wk class. Don't b hating on the prof who's hustling to educate OL in a fast class. I'm not that gr8 w/ writing, but she got me to earn my A. That says something!!

This class was difficult to keep up with but as long as you do the work as assigned you'll do fine. Turn around time is short so you will be working on two separate units in the same week. Late work is not accepted and she will not budge on this. The topics were interesting in comparison to other classes and she offers a rewrite for 1 essay.

Prof TC masters accelerated OL 9wk classes that ARE fast with a heavy load bc it's 2wks of work ea wk! Know what you sign up 4 & don't hate on the prof 4 teaching w/in the class set up! I see complaints about 4 essays, fast pacing, no late hw- yeah!! It's in the syllabus! She gives late essays, rewrites, tons of help and care. Learns tons! 😊😊

If you want an awesome who is there to help you through school and through life then this is the professor for you. Just make sure to be on top of your school work. She wants what's best for everyone and an education is one of the best things she can give us.

Just do the work she's a very easy grader.
