i cant believe they let people like this teach

She is the worst EVER!

very hard and too picky, made me hate photography.

I thought photography would be enjoyable, but she ruined that. Very upsetting and not helpful. Likes to criticize (not always constructive, either).

hate her with a passion. and now i hate photography because she ruined it for me!

It is a farce that this woman is a professor. She is INCREDIBLY disrespectful to students--it's shocking how cruel and mean she is. I cannot say enough bad things about her. Her salary is a waste of CMU's money.

HORRIBLE professor, so awful. Please, if any administrators are reading this, consider firing her. PLEASE FIRE HER. At least hire a new photojournalism prof. so JRN kids have a choice. She makes no sense; she is a terrible professor. HORRIBLE.

She sucks. Ok, whoever said that she is a great photography prof. must have been kissing her butt because what makes her great? Nothing. She does not explain anything properly, the lab assistants explain things much better!

The reason I hated this class was not because it was very difficult. It was because Hernandez is by far the very worst teacher at CMU. I have never been treated so poorly by an educator in all my years of going to school. If she doesn't like you, then

how can anybody think she is great? she's horrible. she's mean and i don't think her work is that great... just ask other journalism professors... they don't think much of her either.

I don't think she has ever said one kind word to a student, and that leaves me wondering if she is in the right profession.

THE WORST TEACHER ON THE PLANET. Won't cooperate with students until the department grade sheets come around, then she'll act nice. She is a total waste and shouldn't be at CMU.

It has been rumored that professors are coming on to this web-site and giving good evaluations towards professors in order to higher their avage score. This is one of them. Photography is an easy subject to teach, and learn. Far cry from Biology.

I Also heard that this teacher is coming on the web-site to increase her ratings. And my skin is very thick. This was not constructive critisim. She does not like people.

She is horrendous Hernandez, all the way. I know this class is required by all JRN majors at CMU, which is why they should be offering some variety in the professors that teach this class. We should not all be forced to have this wicked woman. Mean, unhelpful, rude, insensitive, unintelligable.

Horrible teacher. She was not able to keep her own thoughts straight so her class was hard to deal with. If you can, avoid her class. She is just so unorganized and hates people. Very rude and inconsiderate.

She is all over the place, goes completely off topic. Her notes don't make any sense, and her lectures are completely irrelevant. The only good thing about this class is that you can laugh at her... not with her. Definitely regret taking her.

Take her if you dare! I swear that she changed the dates by just ONE number on her test. I study hard. and STILL almost fail. As does the rest of the class. She doesn't like people. she makes you walk ALL the way across campus to use a lab when there is one across from our class room DUH. She also makes stuff up when she doesn't know the answer.

HORRIBLE Hernadez. This teacher is LOONEY. She is all over the place, doesn't know what she is talking about, and she is a bit spacey. She is unclear about assignments and it was really hard to even sit in her class for an hour. Nice person, but a HORRIBLE teacher.

Don't take her class, she is unclear, not confident, doesn't answer questions, does not explain things, If you ask her a question and she doesn't know they answer she will taper off and start mumbling, makes fun of how important grades are to students. Nice lady, poor teacher. She's often incomprehensible and scatter-brained, and you never know what's going to show up on her tests. I wouldn't bother taking with with Alice Tait though, because she's just as bad. Really, if you have to take this class, you should probably choose Hernandez.

Hernandez is the worst professor I have ever had!!!!!!!!! DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! I can't count the number of times she was rude to me or another classmate. I have no respect for her. Her test are hard because they're nothing like the notes in class and she is the worst at explaining assignments.The whole class is always confused with everything we do.

She has got to be the WORST professor I've ever had in my career at CMU. She tells you do an assignment with no instruction and then tells you it's wrong and then explains how to do it and requires you to RE-DO it. Assignments are never clear. Even if you go to her office hours it's no help. She wasted so much of my time.

Heed my warning, NEVER TAKE A CLASS WITH HER. Requirements are -always- unclear. She mumbles to herself and is incapable of completing a thought without getting off topic. She knows what she's talking about in terms of photojournalism, but she DOES NOT BELONG IN A CLASSROOM.

DO NOT TAKE HER! WORST PROF I'VE EVER HAD AT CMU. Please don't take her class. No instructions on assignments, no clear deadline, rude when you ask questions. Tells you to re-do your assignment that she gave no instructions on and the assignments are not that simple. YOU LEARN NOTHING.

She is a great person, but when it comes to teaching, she is a horrible teacher. I learned nothing in this class. She is very unclear on her expectations for assignments. She also gets off topic very easily. I would not recommend anyone take her!

She's never specific and doesn't explain assignments well. She frustrated me a lot.

Worst professor I've had at Central. She's all over the place with instructions. Continues to address the class or take attendance while you try to complete group work or write an in-class writing assignment. Makes you go through so many extra steps to turn documents and projects in that are beyond necessary. Waste of my time.

Terrible professor. She is all over the place with her due dates, doesn't remember what she said the previous class. She doesn't explain any assignment well, makes you do extra work than needed.

I am a photojournalism major and I still did not understand the way she was teaching. Uses out of date terms expects everyone to know how to use flash photography with speedlights even non-photo majors. Trying to make her classes like the advanced photography classes when they are about editing. Went to her office hours and wasted my time. AVOID!

This was the one class I was excited to take because I wanted to learn more about photography as a beginner. WORST class I've taken at CMU and the only class I left learning absolutely nothing. She's all over the place, has no organization, has no CLUE how to teach BEGINNERS in photography. Wish I dropped her class when I could've. DO NOT TAKE HER!

Teresa's one of the worst professors I've ever had at CMU. Unclear grading criteria (she tells you what you should've done AFTER you've already submitted your project & it's too late), publicly criticizes students' projects & her lectures are completely disorganized. I can confidently say I didn't learn anything in her class. Biggest waste of time.

Made me seriously reconsider my major and made my life more difficult in a way that effected my other school work. She taught the 200 level class as if it were a 500 level class and we should have known everything there is to know about photography. She was unorganized and rarely did anyone in the class understand what she was even talking about.

She is too confusing in her wording and assignments. She will tell you to do one thing, and when you do it, will say she never told you that. She would not grade assignments for months or give me 0s when they were turned in correctly and on time. She is harsh and inconsistent on grading and is overall a frustrating professor I do not recommend.

She's unclear in her directions. Will tell you to do something and then mark you down for it. Her grade scale makes absolutely no sense and your graded on so little. She takes forever to grade and closes the class immediately so you have absolutely no idea what your grade is. She's by far the worst professor I've had at CMU avoid her at all costs.

I had Teresa for JRN 102 and JRN 220 in the Spring 2019 semester, she is a terrible teacher. There is no room for creativity or constructive criticism. It is very hard to please Mrs. Hernandez for she likes things done her way and her way only, she is very condecsending. I'm sure she's great outside of the classroom but it was a rough semester.

She is all over the place Tells you on thing one day and then says to do the opposite the other day. You just have to guess which way she wants it done for projects. She's rude she calls people out in class for no reason. I find it hard to believe she would treat adults in real life how she treats her students, which is wrong.

Teresa is incredibly disrespectful, and makes off hand comments in almost every class. She is not easy to contact outside of class, and does not seem to have a good understanding of giving directions. When she gives instructions, and you follow them, she will mark you down regardless 'because it wasn't what she wanted.' DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Not a pleasant experience. She had a tendency to fight with students over their work and why they took the picture that way. I've never seen a professor blatantly call out a student for "bad work" until I had this class. The photos looked like everyone else's. She can be discriminatory if she doesn't believe you are hard working. Talks over people.

Rambles at 100mph and expects students to magically know everything. Disorganized lectures and ill-conceived, pointless "exercises" that are more like kindergarten activities. Took this class to become better at using my dSLR camera for news photography but I doubt I'm learning anything.

This is a basic media photography class but she treated us all like we should know our way around a camera front and back. SO DIFFICULT for someone with no knowledge of cameras. The grading criteria was not very clear. I'm a good student but she made me feel absolutely clueless. We did critiques but it ended up with her just being harsh to students

She is completely unorganized and doesnt give clear instructions and is beyond rude. She constantly makes off color comments and is ridiculously bold to say some of the things she says to adults. By far the worst Professor Ive ever had. If you can, avoid this Professor at all cost, it will save you from unnecessary stress.
