If you want to learn maths, take it. But you should prepare for hard assigment, hard test and be ready to drop.

she's a really good and nice teacher. However, her class is pretty tough and tests are so HARD somehow. She's pretty helpful and LAUGH with no reason in class all the time. What's wrong with her ???

Whoa first class in college I ever took and I failed it... Teresa Hofstedt what a awful teacher.. Tell you what, I took the same class 1093 in Allison Nishihara's class and i got an A! From F to A! Allison you rock girl, Terresa you stick up the room!

she's ok but very hard! often a no-show for midterms, we had our midterms delayed all the time because she didnt show up. Kinda annoying for all of us who pulled the allnighter.
I didn't believe the negative ratings about her class, but she is the worst teacher. I barely understood, and i've taken calculus already! The way she explains each example is so confusing u would have given up by the end.

I've taken this course before. and believe me, Teresa is a really good teacher. She really took the time to clearly explain how to apply concepts. yea tests are tough, but if you can do the homework you're laughing.

Her assignments are impossible to do. Her midterms were ok. Notes are not very clear, sometimes hard to understand.
ok i noticed the comment below and yes, she has this tendency to not show up for midterms!!! why is that when all of us students are ALWAYS required to show up and write on a given date. Totally irresponsible, i think, esp. when it happens more than once.

very disorganized, always late, goes through things extremely quickly, lots of homework, tests are ok. Everythign in this class seems so fast paced. It's hard to absorb everything.

She's really weird.. always laughing at us for no reason! but she's not that bad of a teacher like everyone says she is; However, if you are going in to 1120 with anything below a C in precalc then take another prof cuz you won't understand her notes.

Not sure why she's get really bad review here but i only take one course with her and i understood her class quite well. Too much homework to my liking. Exam is not that hard but not easy either. If you try hard enough you should be ok.
She's a teacher that is thorough in her explanations, but she can babysit a little too much sometimes. I think she needs to be more efficient, but more effective in her teaching methods.
Stop laughing without a reason. lots of stupid jokes. hard to pay attention during her class because she always makes mistakes and corrects it then makes the same mistake again. For her, Math is easy. but she cannot find a easy way to explain concept, e.g. derivative. not a good teacher ever...
Course wasn't taught well. Came in with a strong math background and still found it diff. to understand her lectures. T-book isn't helpful, everything depends on how well the course is taught. Exams are long, if you finish them it's only in haste. Overall not a good prof, and material was rushed.

I truly feel sorry for anyone that takes her for the first time. You do not know what you're getting yourself into. For the people that are saying "easy" class, they just want you to fail.

Math concepts are not explained well and when your revieve the test you wonder if you even covered it in class. Choose another teacher if you want to do well otherwise good luck!
Teresa is an exellent prof! I never liked math, but she made it really clear and fun and she was always willing to help me. she is a math wiz . ask her any math question and she will bring it to life! If you never liked math, take her!

She is very poor at explain how to prove a problem. Lots questions on the test.And very hard. Hand in homework without stable,draw graph without using grid paper, minus marks!!! So crazy. Spent half hour to prove a question. Always let you discuss with each other.What the hell!!We teached each other,or she teached us????

she is a very brilliant woman but i dont no what provoke her to be ateacher. she is always late for class. she rarely gives partial marks on tests. her answer is always blur. she loves making everyth so changelling. instead of giving notes she ask u to photocopy hers costly from library. however, as a person i really like her.
she is an incredibly nice women and has brilliant mathematics skills (she can do stuff in her head within a second)!I would prefer her to teach a higher level like 3rd year math course..so students would already have some knowledge about the backround. She assumes students know a lot of things she is teaching!!

This teacher is horrible, often does a question wrong and takes forever to figure it out which leaves students confused and frustrated. extreme caution, Do not take this class unless you want a bad mark. The only good comments posted here are from herself.
At first I didn't like Teresa.. but she has slowly grown on me. From the reviews I have been reading I think she has gotten a lot better. I really think what is flawed is the class itself. Too much to learn in too short of time. If you keep up with your homework you will do well, but there is A LOT, and we all know how easy it is to fall behind!
Teresa constantly skips parts of her set of class notes and leaves you with no answers. She assigns homework questions for marks without giving examples or going over how to do the problems. Her class ALWAYS goes over time. When asked for clarification, she often leaves you more confused. She has lost touch with how to teach beginners
Very high expectations, like spending 12 hours outside of class on this course. Is prone to impatience and yelling. Ladies be careful. She tries to come on to female students, disguising it as "helpfulness".
At the beginning of the term there were about 25 students. At the end of the term there are only about 10 students. Her Precalculus is more difficult than Calculus to get a good mark. Sometime,her explaination will make you more confuse. Her test is long. Always pop quizze. If you care about your grade, don't take her!!!!
Don't take her!!!As we all knows, Precalculus is equivalent to High School Grade 12, and we can use a graphical calculator. However, she don't let students use a SIMPLE calculator in each quizzes and Mid-terms, not to mention a graphical calculator. If you think you can use mental calculation to deal with sin and cos,forget what i said. if not,RUN!
No marking standard,sucks in teaching,weird taste in joking sth not funny @ all!Steps on chairs and tables,horrible hand writing and graphing.ALWAYS confused herself,she always got stuck and has to think 4 a long time to follow up wutz next ,and she will always found out there was a mistake and she had to erase start over again!

I DONT LIKE HER, SO EVENTUALLY I HAD TO DROP THE COURSE AFTER FIRST EXAM. EXAMS ARE SUPER LONG AND EVEN HARDER THAN THE QUESTION SHE ASSIGNS AND TEACHES.
Absolutely horrible teacher. Extremely bad at explaining things, is all over the place. Quizzes and tests are very long and quite hard, some of the questions were not even taught. VERY picky when it comes to answers, evrythin must be in perfect form, even perfectly straight line graphs. TAKE THIS COURSE WITH ALISON NISHIHARA, BEST TEACHER EVER!!!
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. You'd be better off being taught calculus by a dog. Assignments are long and hard and she is very picky about presentation. Tests are very unfair and if you want to get a terrible mark, take her. Very strange sense of humour also and you will probably be creeped out many times. bottom line - don't take her!
Some teachers are really smart but they just don't know how to teach! If you want a good mark in math do not take her. Her lessons focus on easy questions when the tests are the hardest out of each unit that you haven't even seen before. Homework is MANDITORY

Really nice and friendly but she speeds through everything so be prepared! Good for super smart people I guess... kinda intimidating but she's a good prof.
I took 1099 and got an A so I thought that I would be more than prepared to take 1112 but I guess not. 1112 is boring since u do all these boring graphs and functions. Plus, she babysits u, gives long breaks, is a bit forgetful and laughs at things so I find it distracting. She's nice as a person but I'm a bit weirded out about her personality.
Just great!! Be nice, do your homework and you will do well in her class! Also, she's in the learning centre all the time and in her office so make sure that you go for help!! Check your email too :)

Worst prof ever. DO NOT TAKE HER. Spends most time in class going over the simplest problems. Spends like 10 minutes on the harder ones, and doesn't have enough time for them every class. Exams are super hard and long. Not a lot of part marks either. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.

It's my fault for failing since I never had the basics down in the first place. I only took 1099 from kwantlen and that totally did not prepare me for 1112 at all. Kwant needs to re-vamp their math dept!! So, here's my word of advice.. take 1093 and then proceed w/ hofstedt's class otherwise u will be lost and confused. Nice n funny prof tho :)

She makes every exam and every assignment unnecessarily hard. Keeps making awkward and creepy laughs. Do NOT take her class, unless you want a terrible grade to frustrate yourself. The frustration will affect you on other classes too. This is very serious.

I wish i could give her zero rating! Do not ever take her. She always degrades saying that it is ok if you fail my class and you can take it next time. She is the worst teacher in Kwantlen. Not at all good. Do not take course with her unless you wana fail.

I was given the opportunity to have her as my tutor for this fall semester. She did an amazing job tutoring me through tutor ocean. She definitely helped me get a great mark in the 1102 course I was originally almost failing. She explains concepts very clearly, in a visual way that helps a LOT in math. Very kind and patient. I 100% recommend Teresa
A horrendous instructor who gives long and unclear lecture videos, charges overpriced lecture notes and textbooks, overloads assignment questions, creates unnecessarily difficult exam questions not reflective of course material that make the course extremely harder than it is. Also extremely persnickety about how notation and work should be shown.
