funny, sarcastic, and good spirited - do not be stupid in her classes

not sexy in the least but a fantastic teacher
does anyone else hate this woman? she is the rudest teacher ive ever come across.
Kennedy's a bully, but she's fantastic! Also she's brilliant, makes you feel bad if you haven't done the reading.
If youre easily offended, her humor's not for you, interestings discussions (most dont pertain to the subject, though she does make some connections) seems like she could've taught drama, VERY theatrical!
Kennedy will get medieval on your ass! By ass I mean intellect and by medieval I mean that she will chock your head full of so much information about medieval literature and everything else imaginable.
great sense of humor. refreshing. brilliant! holds everyone to a high standard. forget the typical politically correct blabber present in other engl classes.

Prof. Kennedy is the most entertaining prof i have had in college. She tends to go off on tangents alot but overall you learn alot. The course was writing intensive but we only wrote two papers all semester. Cancels class alot!
Dr. Kennedy really knows her literature and she expects you to as well. She is a brilliant scholar and a dedicated professor. She does not suffer fools. She is devoted to those who are devoted to their studies. A credit to the college. Her Hair is HOT!
she's the best teacher i've had at mary wash! i'm not an english major, but i'm gonna take as many of her classes as i can before i graduate!
If you read, listen, and speak in class, you can only do well in her course. A wicked smaht person, Kennedy is someone from whom you can learn a great deal...in any course.
Prof.Kennedy is the most hilarious teacher I've ever had! She knows how to relate to her students, and she never fails to make the entire class laugh! She admits to disliking the subjust she teaches, and understands that not everyone is an english major
Kennedy's has this amazing ability to link all of the points in her lecture together in continuity till the end, and she seems to do it without effort. Brilliant, funny, but she really chooses favorites, like most of the great ELS profs in MWC. It's sad
Professor does not stick to the course object: helping students improve their writing. She tends to make offensive comments and lacks the ability to use class time sufficiently (she often wanders off topic and babbles.) If you are looking for a thought-
Prof. Kennedy is known for going off on odd tangents during the middle of a lecture, but that's the fun of it. She always is notorious for making fun of someone until they're about to cry....but as long as it's not you, you're fine!
An awesome professor! Dr. Kennedy is incredibly smart. She doesn't like having to teach English 101 so she makes it bearable for her and her students. Often tells humorous stories during class and makes a course that you have to take bearable!
Ooh! Gave me my first B in my major! But taught me how to read in Middle English! That's pretty cool.
Prof Kennedy is so funny...Writing Workshop is a super easy class and the discussions are a lot of fun...we get out early all the time and it is just amusing...basically you can do whatever you want...
Got out of class early all the time-- what we did do in class was talk and listen to stories. Very little writing near the beginning, crunch time at the end! The best professor at MWC!!
Witty, smart and very entertaining. Her knowladge of Chaucer and English literature is breath taking. I'm not an English major and I take her classes beacuse she's awesome and educational. Take her at least once while at m-dub.
Yelled at me like I was in the 8th grade. That's all I have to say about that.
She doles out "slacker" to any student who is JUST THAT. Read the material! Kennedy knows her stuff, connects it with other relevant fields (which not many other professors attempt), and corrects any misconceived views by use of simple logic.
She knows a lot about literature, I will give her that. But the class is just 50 minutes of pretentious babble. She is liked by many students, but if you are the type of person that can think for yourself, you wont like her.
Insane amount of difficult reading that is never clarified; class is mostly prof telling stories (granted, they ARE funny but have nothing to do with the class). Plus, the majority of my class was scared to death of Kennedy!!
Kennedy rocks! Her ENGL295 was my easiest class all semester. Take home, open note midterm and final! I stopped reading in the second week and cruised my way to an "A" in her class. Only treats you like a "slacker" if you happen to BE

Gives the Eng. Dept. personality! She's rough on the outside, but really a sensitive, caring person. Ask her anything about lit & she'll know it! She keeps the pressure low, but it bugs her when no one has read the assignments.
She puts the Evil in Medivale. You will not get an A even if you are the reincarnation of Chaucer himself; even if you secretly have a PhD in Medivale studies; even if you make a pact with the devil.
Dr. K RULES, she's the most awesome English teacher I've ever had! She's exceptionally smart though, so don't try to pull any fast ones on her.
I love Dr. Kennedy. She's brilliant, and she respects people who think. She may get off subject sometimes, but I can relate to that. I try to have a class with her at least once a year.
I've taken every one of Kennedy's classes. At first I was totally scared of her, but then I realized she's a breath of fresh air compared to the other English dept. professors. She's sarcastic, cynical, and witty. She usually gets off topic but that keeps me awake! Always got a B/B+.
Kennedy can be scary. Once you get past that, you realize that she's a fabulous professor. She doesn't take any ****, and if you try to pull a fast one she'll nail you, fast. She's smart, cynical, funny, tells great stories, and knows her material inside and out. Definitely take her if you ca
Dr. Kennedy is a very unique professor. She knows literature like none other and I have thoroughly enjoyed having a class with her. I love her wit, sarcasm, and stories. She also is very attentive to her students and knows everyone's names after only the second day of classes. One of the best!
One of the worst English teachers I've had. She may know what she's talking about, but her lectures are so random and disorganized that it's hard to follow. Plus, she assings insane amounts of reading and hardly talks about them. Plus, her directions leave much to be desired..very ambiguous. BLEH!
Professor Kennedy is tough as nails, but she's sweet once you get to know her. She's a tough grader, but she's also really understanding when you have a problem. She's tough, but she's fair. Really, that's all you an ask for.
Professor Kennedy is one of the best professors that I've ever had (she even managed to make Chaucer interesting). At first, she seems very intimidating, and it's true that she expects students to work. Still, she's very understanding and very, very funny.
Love her! She's so down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. Her lectures can be pretty boring and usually don't involve the readings, though (which there are a lot of). Take her if you can!! (But not if you're going to slack.)
Prof. Kennedy is incredible, I think she knows EVERYTHING. Her classes are a bit confusing, but she makes a point to clear things up. She also makes a point to get to know her students outside of class and is always ready to help.
I adore Dr. K, and have gone out of my way to have classes with her. She's so smart it's scary, and she's absolutely hilarious. She doesn't take **** and appreciates honesty.
Prof K is my all-time favorite. Anyone who can incorporate Barney, fake broken legs and tales of her children backing a car into oncoming traffic into a lecture on Gawain gets an A in my book. She's tough but totally awesome.
Dr. K is an amazing person. While her lectures ARE somewhat disorganized, you can learn so much from her if you just pay attention. Plus, she's just a really great person...we've become good friends, I call her once a week or so to catch up. She's the most open and friendly prof. I've met here, and she really cares about her students. Take her for everything you can.
The woman is nuts! Nonetheless, she knows medieval British literature inside and out. Also, she's very entertaining. She's a bit scatterbrained, but a lot of fun and very intelligent.
kennedy rocks! the absolute best prof out there!!
take her for 295, you will get an excellent base for the rest of your english classes. She knows everything. She will pick on you, don't take if you aren't thick skinned (you wuss). She's money

Kennedy is a wonderfully nice and funny woman. She obviously knows her stuff and loves what she is teaching but she deos not have the ability to help her students comprehend difficult material. Most of her time and effort is directed toward her favorites who say pretenious comment after comment hoping to out do each other. Nice Prof., can't teach.
She's the Queen. Flexible about attendance and emergencies, yet expects quality work. Do the readings in a thoughtful manner and she will adore you. Humor and unparalleled intelligence. No experience at UMW is complete without Kennedy.
If you think Kennedy can't teach, you're lazy. She won't waste her time complaining if you don't try, but she is the smartest one there
The smartest teacher I've ever had. I can't comprehend how she keeps all the info in her head and some how manages to put it together so seamlessly. That being said she isn't easily impressed. The only winning strategy I can think of is doing all the reading and talking to her in office hours every week and I'm no where close to that. I have a B-
Best professor I've had at UMW. She is so intelligent and knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. Hilarious sense of humor. Very earthy, laid back, and approachable. Loves to interact with students. She knows what she's talking about and expects quality work in return. You cannot die completely happy unless you have had a class with Kennedy.
Awesomeness taker one of her classes!!
Kennedy is AMAZING. She has an incredible sense of humor, clearly knows her stuff, and is fairly open to opinions. She is very understanding if it comes to needing more time on an assignment and is easy to talk to after class or whenever.
My favorite professor at UMW. She's like an encyclopedia! So smart and funny. Her lectures are always easy to sit through.
I LOVE Kennedy! She knows so much and has a delightfully wicked sense of humor. Her class is always the highlight of my day. Sure, sometimes her lectures have nothing to do with the readings (ask her about "the burden of literacy"), but you can learn so much from her--- about life, the universe, and everything--- if you just pay attention.
kennedy is the best teacher i have ever had. hands down.
She's the queen. Plain and simple. The only prof at UMW I know of who practically has her own cult following. I plan my entire schedule around her classes. I'm not a big of Modernism, but she can make anything interesting and worthwhile. TAKE HER CLASS. You will be missing some seriously good teaching and some great laughs if you don't.
Kennedy was the best professor I met whilst at UMW! She made me feel really welcome in the school as well as the class and told me to visit her if I was ever in the USA again. Totally awesome woman, who just might be the most intelligent person alive...
Kennedy is awesome. She knows everything. Her lectures are hilarious and it doesn't really matter if you do the readings, just listen to her lectures every now and then. She treats us like adults which I like, but is funny and friendly more than anything. I learned stuff and had fun. That's the best kind of class to me.
If you want a teacher that can take something you always thought was lame and turn it into something that blows your mind, take her class. Just be willing to put in the work to reap the benefits. If your not interested she doesnt care. Show some interest and she will take you to the next level.
She is wonderful. She can use Star Trek, Bugs Bunny, and Chaucer in the same lecture and somehow it all makes perfect sense. Her class is always a treat and while some people don't like her tangents, you can learn a LOT from this woman if you just pay attention; maybe it's not all relevant to English, but it's very valuable information.
Dr Kennedy is AWESOME! Always tells hilarious stories and says hilarious things in class. Always brightens my day. The class was 3 papers and a presentation. No final. So not too bad. Shes very helpful in making improvements on papers and taught me a lot of things I didnt know about writing. Highly recommend!
Very nice professor, enjoys life and teaching, treats students as adults, understands students well.
She's the smartest professor I've ever had ever. Her ability to weave classic Literature with modern day events is absolutely amazing and ALL THE INFO that she stores in her brain could rival any anthology of Medieval Literature; online or in print form. Pay attention in lecture, ask smart questions and buy her a ginger ale occasionally.
Kennedy is the best professor at UMW. She is very knowledgable and keeps everyone engaged in class. Her classes are never boring and she will brighten anyones day.
Dr. Kennedy is hilarious. I loved her class and feel as if we learned a lot. There were only three essays but she lets you turn in revisions to boost your grade.
Super easy. Had three graded assignments. Such nice lady, funny as hell. Just show up to class and make an impression, she basically just gives out As. And she feeds you…so win win.
This class was a total joke. There were 4-5 graded performances including the final, all of which are incredibly easy (you just pick a poem, speech, play, whatever and perform it in front of the class - except for the final, which you record at home and submit online). We basically just sat around, ate pizza, and talked about random stuff.
Dr. Kennedy is the best professor at the university and is, on top of that, one of the kindest, most devoted and knowledgeable people that I have had the fortune to meet. Your writing will improve, you will read great books, and the class will be excellent :)
I love this lady. Dr. Kennedy is one of the best professors at this university. She is highly knowledgeable and also understands students. And she will make you laugh. Great personality.
I have very mixed feelings about this her class. As a person Kennedy is a great woman who is hilarious. As a professor, she really knows her stuff and her classes are really interesting. I took Myth and Folktale which has a very strong focus on The Lord of the Rings which I am not interested in. If you have a nerdy side you'll love this class.
Kennedy is amazing, but very hard.
You read multiple books for this class. Make sure you read them and understand them. You'll also learn the circumstances around the book's publication.
This class was fairly easy and I got through most of it without reading the text, although you are required to bring the book to class. She is pretty sarcastic but harmless. There are randomly-assigned peer reviews but they are pretty easy. Relatively easy class to complete a writing-intensive requirement.
While this class may not be the easiest at Mary Washington. Dr. Kennedy is willing to work with students and is amazing in her office hours she really connect with Students to ensure that everyone is receiving all of the required material and understanding. 1000% recommend if you want to improve your English skills and become a better student!
I had Dr. Kennedy for The Grail Legend FSEM and she was amazing. She really cared about her students. I took the normal class, not the honors class. The majority of the class loved her, and we had a TON of fun. She assigns a decent amount of reading, and then we had two projects (?) which she graded fairly. I got an A and I did not struggle.
Absolutely awful teacher. She teaches basically nothing and goes on endless rants which barely graze the lesson which she is trying to impart. She spent an entire class babbling about movies and popular culture, while only going over a single slide about Platonian interpretation of literary criticism. If you care about learning, don't take her.
Her "lectures" are more like rants about her personal problems and issues with "today's generation," not much teaching. She is also just blatantly mean -- embarrassing students in front of the whole class, even when the student isn't present! It feels like a high school classroom; unprofessional, inappropriate nonsense with little learning.
She is definitely not for everyone. If you can stomach her sarcasm, she's rather entertaining. Aside from that, she makes you write papers on books, restaurants, and movies you like, all the while making sure you do not use the passive voice. Communicate with her if you have issues, and ask questions if feedback isn't clear enough (rare).
This class is about Lewis, Tolkien, and Le Guin so be prepared to read their books, watch adaptations, and discuss them! I believe my semester was the first this was taught, we only had 2 assignments in the gradebook: midterm and final. I didn't do all of the readings and didn't always show up but tried my best, communicated with her, and got an A.
This class is about writing reviews for restaurants, movies, and books (you choose which you want to write about. You have to read, watch, and eat at all during the semester.) I took this class over the Summer so there was a time crunch. Definitely plan ahead so you don't fall behind on writing. Really easy class, I didn't pay attention to lectures
