She is very upbeat and knowledgeable. Her tests are not exactly easy, but if you go to all the classes, the information is all provided. Some reading required.

Prof.Madden is way cool. She is hilarious and extremely nice. Yes there is a lot of reading, but the material is interesting. She is a very fair and generous grader. There is 1 midterm, 1 essay,weekly journal entries, and the final exam. HIghly recommended!

SHe is a great teacher!! She assigns weekly journals and keeps you on your feet!! Dont fall behind like I did on journals and you will be fine! I have had her for 2 classes an enjoyed them even though material was boring but she makes it fun!!! Oh and she is hot too!!

Best teacher I've had. She loves what she teaches and makes the material interesting. I took her for the summer, and there was a lot of reading (journals for each) plus a midterm and a final (m/c and T/F). She gives study guides and goes over it in class. Excellent professor & highly recommended.

Not only is she one of the most fun and interesting professors I've ever had, but one of the most inspirational. Although this particular class required a great deal of work (it was a summer course, so the work was crammed in), she was very approachable, and her teaching style made it easy to understand everything. Bottom line: SHE'S AWESOME!!!

Dr. Madden was a fairly tough but fair grader. I found the class to be interesting. Tests can be tough, even open-book. Really need to know the stuff.

This class is soo annoying. All I did my entire summer was read and write. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IN THE SUMMER!! She gives way too much reading and writing. I have taken Summer and Winter classes ever since I have been in college and have never had such a tough class. It isnt hard, it is just too much work. Dont fall behind!!!

She is the best teacher i have ever taken. Very knowledgeable and helpful. She is also very passionate and willing to engage the class in a thought provoking discussion. She is not a boring teacher and says more than blah, blah, blah. I strongly recommend her for any class!!!!!!

She is a great professor! She makes the material very interesting, and really opens your mind. I found attendance wasn't really mandatory, as long as you don't miss TOO much. BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!! She is hilarious and very knowledgable about sociology. There are a lot of postings on the readings but she goes over the readings in class before the postings are do, so it's easy to write about them. Class isn't mandatory but she (like any other professor) dislikes many absences. Highly recommended for teaching students!

The class has SO MUCH READING!!! The class was VERY difficult. The professor is excellent though, very patient and she knows her stuff, but again VERY HARD class. You have to live for the class if you want to get an A. Also if reading is not your thing do not take the class.

Gang intervention class co-existing with MOSAIC organization. She is really nice and to the point. Does not try to trick you or b.s. you in anyway. You ask for help and she gives it. Prof Madden is a professor that will really teach you but will make you earn the grade. So if you want an easy A, steer away from her. I love her teaching ways and her class because it made me more interested in my major. She will make you read all of the readings and they can be quite a lot. There's a midterm, final, readings, & final project.

Professor Madden is so knowledgeable with the subject. The discussions in class helped me learn alot. It was a bit hard to catch up the long readings, but I really enjoyed taking her. She is fun and very humorous. I'd recommend to take her!

I took this class on-line. You will learn soooo much! She really is a great teacher. However, with the on-line class there is a TON of reading required. Discussions are pretty easy. Must keep up with reading in order to do well on the mid-term and final. You really will learne a lot. If you have good self discipline for on-line classes, its great!

This class was nothing like the description, and she is a huge feminist. This class is all about how women are oppressed in society today and throughout history. she only updated grades once before the final grade so you have no idea where you stand in the class. there are 5-10 posts a week plus comments. avoid if possible

I would say her online class is a lot of work but she does warn you ahead of time. The tests weren't that bad and around the end of the semester she offers extra credit. You do about 5 posts a week and sometimes a Journal with the summary of the readings. There are 3 tests but they aren't cumlative.

There's a LOT of reading, but it gets really interesting. The first chapter of the textbook is hard to get through, but everything else isn't so bad. A lot of the readings are online in addition to the book you have to read. As long as you post your Journals and do ok on the midterm and final, you'll be ok. Final is NOT cumulative

Professor was fun, and readings very interesting. She made herself available to students if they needed help, and gave oppportunities to earn more points. Tests weren't super hard, but studying and doing readings is a must to do well. It's college, so of course there is tons of reading!

I love Professor Madden! The lectures are extremely interesting and you learn a whole lot from classroom discussions. It was an awesome class, she's an awesome lady! Makes class time fun, she's hilarious and very knowledgeable in the field. I love that she's a very strong woman and knows what she's talking about, very admirable. Take her! =)

She is pretty funny and is easy to talk to; she will call on you randomly in discussions. She likes when you relate situations to yourself. Class consisted of like 3 multiple choice tests, journal entries, and a group project. Not too hard but you have to read.

Good teacher and good class, not sure what people are complaining about. Here's the secret: 1) Do the assignments 2) Do the reading 3) Memorize the "key terms" from the reading (this alone will literally get you an A on every exam).

Professor Madden was one of the most interesting professors at CSUN, very glad I took her class. The book is your best friend and if you have questions she will clarify for you. Highly recommend to students who want to learn and actually not complain of the reading. You are in college so get use to reading and studying.

She posts weekly reading and you have to respond to questions. her tests are SO hard though and tricky so make sure you don't miss an assignment and you can afford to do not so well on the tests and still come out with a B at the end of the semester. The easiest professor ever. She's funny. Sociology is kind of a stupid and easy subject. An annoying part of the class is you get a bunch of pointless written assignments that are super easy but annoying. Her tests are largely based on the textbook. So is her lecture. She's nice, not intimidating, available, take her for an easy A.

Great Professor! I highly recommend her. Her class are basically lectures with power points but stops for questions & will explain whatever one doesn't understand. Her tests seem really easy only if you study. It's a lot of reading from the book but it's really interesting stuff so it's worth it.

Take her. you dont have to worry about showing up except the days of the tests. if you just keep up with moodle and do all the video responses and read all the chapters (which is easy and interesting) you will get an A. This class is only based on video 4 video responses, and 3 tests. Her lectures were interesting and funny.

this class was actually taught by her and the program director. This class was by far the best experiences ever. onyl thing u need to know is what self efficacy means and have time to do what your are required: weekly mentor notes, gender group activities and action plans nothing hard simple stuff.

This class is very interesting and helpful. Professor Madden is very approachable. She is willing to answer questions during her office hours, after class and by email too. Attendance is needed in order to get a good grade because her tests are based not only from the readings but also from her lectures.

READ THE BOOK. Everything is the BOOK. Make sure to not only now the vocabulary but actually know how to implement it in the exam. She tricks you. She's not easy if you're trying to get an easy A. The class is pretty pointless as everything discussed can be found in the book which you are later assigned to read. However, I suggest you attend class because every so often she will be collecting the homework. Overall, this is a pretty easy class and she even inflates the grades a bit. Test are multiple choice so you shouldn't struggle too much.

She was a little unorganized but was always nice and funny. There is a good amount of reading but she doesn't expect you to read everything word for word. The homework is easy, and she lets you decide what the midterm should be like. I hope she comes back next semester! I recommend her.

Professor Madden is really nice. Tries to answer all your questions. Homework was actually fun & helped you relate to what you were learning. Tests are multiple choice & are based on the reading & lectures (show up to class!) Do the readings because even if its just a short article, she will add some questions about it on the tests.

READ THE BOOK AND TAKE NOTES. I cannot stress this enough. Depending on the class size; if its 150 students you really don't need to come to class except for test day or to turn in the paper. She just goes over the power points; which are posted online btw. Tough grader on the Research Proposal (it was hard also). Test are 150 points each (2).

Large class so she does not take attendance, and she puts the power points online. She's an amazing professor! My favorite so far at Csun and will be taking again. She tries to make it fun even sang or made jokes once in a while to wake us up. If you fall behind she gives extra credit if you visit her during office hours. Best professor at CSUN!

Every week sometimes 2x a week quizzes 65 points, midterm 100, project 75(easy), Final 100 340 points. must read (often) 2 books. She is super funny and loves teaching.

The class was okay overall, lectures were kind of boring and tests were a little tough. It's just confusing when there are two similar answers or examples, so take sometime to study a week before and your good. The class itself was very interesting and towards the end she gave our class two weeks off to finish up the final paper (Super easy btw)

Madden would have to be my favorite professor. She is funny and makes the class fun. Textbook is needed to read assigned chapters. As long as you read them and understand it, it's an easy A. After reading a chapter, an analysis is needed. There are small group quizzes based on reading. There are only 3 exams, including the final. Would recommend.

Professor Madden is funny! Her classes are very interesting and she has a rough sense of humor which makes the class that much better. I loved her teaching style, the only negative is that she's a hard grader, she has no mercy. Her exams are difficult and go very into depth. Reading in her classes is a must.

She is a hilariously blunt but very sweet. Her lectures are off powerpoints on moodle so you can probably only go take the exams and still end up with a B. She does sometimes include terms in the exams that she only explains during lectures. 3 exams, your choice of 2 out of 7 articles analysis and about 5 homework assignments. Read the textbook!

Professor Madden is a great lecturer who is very knowledgeable but often gets sidetracked. There are only three exams that are taken straight from the textbook and can be passed easily if you pay attention and review. The assignments are few and there is almost no homework other than reading. She is extremely funny and relatable as well.

This class wasn't difficult, however; the tests are hard. Midterm and final both are a significant percent of your grade 33 and some change percent, so together they end up being 67% of your grade. 8 online discussions that are super easy and 1 research paper, that is also super easy. Study for the exams and you will have an easy A.

I miss this class, it gave me a new prospective on the world. This professor is amazing! She is passionate and carries an optimistic prospective in discussions, but can also be very sarcastic and blunt at the same time. Reading the book really helps in passing tests and studying is a must. She can go a bit off topic, but is always intriguing.

This class taught me a lot! She is a great professor who is passionate about what she lectures. Her class consists of three exams, two article analysis papers, and a couple of short assignment. To pass the exams, STUDY!! They are not hard, they just require lots of studying.

She straight out tells you everyone fails her exams. Her h.w is really easy if you read, and you do need textbook.

Heres the truth she gives CDA twice a week its easy but overwhelming. There were 3 larger assignments that could be easy is just depends like a 2 page essay, collage, and survey type of thing. 3 tests STUDY for the test I got a 68 on 1st test 68 on 2nd 78 on last didnt do one large assignment and still passed. Overall shes between okay and good

You must read and know the content front and back to understand and pass the tests. She understands that it can he hard though so she offers help and extra credit during her office hours.

Have to complete 16 small writing assignments (only 300 words) and 3 tests. tests are pretty heavy, I only ever got B's and that is with over 4 hours of studying. However, the study guide is helpful. The teacher's assistant who grades is pretty ruthless though. Madden is very nice and funny though. Her humor makes soc easy to understand.

She grades discussion posts very hard but all exams are on quizlet. if you try on the discussions and quizlet the tests you should get an A no problem. THIS CLASS IS AN EASY A, please spare yourself and take her online for a blissful semester.
