Such a good teacher with a great sense of humor. I loved her class !!!! she is really easy if you do good on your speeches even if you fail your midterms. The final was a piece of cake cuz she tells you exactly what will be on it..CAN'T FAIL CLASS !!!

Excellent teacher, workload was very light. spch 105 was a great experience with Sutowski sharing her experiences and getting us to think more indepth. Would definately recommend her again for 105.

I took her last fall 2008.. I hate public speaking but it was a new requirement for my pre reqs.. shes really laid back and learned a lot from her... just ask questions and send your outline n she'll respond with helpful insights on w.c to improve... I got an A :o)

I love her class. I am an international student. Actually at the beginning I was afraid that I couldn't be able to do well in this class even though I was good at speaking in my mother tongue. She encouraged me a lot and I tried my best to complete each assignment. She is a good teacher.

She's an okay teacher, i took her my first semester at ohlone and didn't really have that much of an issue. She does give attitude from time to time but I always get A's&B's on my speeches. My advice is to never look at her when you're presenting your speech, her face always looks bored no matter how interesting the speech topic is. Best of luck :D

I took Professor Massimo for speech 101 and 102 and I must say I highly enjoyed being in her class. I learned a lot & improved on my speech technique. She is a fair and reasonable grader. Not sure what all the complaints are about. Try your best, be outspoken and I'm sure you will get the grade you are striving for. P.S. YOUR AWESOME DR. Massimo!!!

I had her for a Hybrid class (online and classroom). Overall, the class was between average and good. I think that she is very reasonable in the way she grades, although speech grading will always be somewhat subjective. The coursework is well organized for you online, but you have to get 16 hours of time logged in a speech lab in a semester.

I took her hybrid speech class and while it was a lot of work, most of it was mainly online besides the speeches itself. It is not a hard class if you put the time and effort into your speeches and the online assignments. She is a very laid back professor, but you still gotta show her that you are trying. Go to the lab whenever possible to get help

Dr. Massimo is a very laid back professor, and I feel like the class was not bad overall. It was a hybrid course, so we had a lot of work online via Canvas. The grading was not too harsh, but still you really gotta show some effort. She's a nice lady, although the online quizzes are a bit tough, so you really need to thoroughly read the book well.

This was a pretty chill class, it wasn't that hard. She made the material interesting enough to keep us engaged. The workload is manageable, and she is a very nice professor once you take the time to get to know her. I took her Interpersonal Communications class and it was hybrid. It was a lot of online work, and mostly discussion based during class. It's not necessarily a hard class if you stay focused and follow her directions. She's nice and has high expectations, but it's college, who doesn't have high expectations. Take her class, it's pretty interesting.

This was such a fun and chill class, there was not much work involved throughout the class. As long as you came to class and participated and did the online Canvas portion, you were good to go. The class can seem a little disorganized, none the less it was still a fun and amazing class. Learned so much from it, took a lot away from the course.

I took her for public speaking and intercultural. For PS, she was hybrid and the only thing you had to do was prep for a speech and do it in class along with basic comm lab stuff. The rest of quizzes and tests were online. For IC, she was super easy, a few online quizzes and the rest was some assignments in class. Easy teacher, don't expect much.

Didn't end up being a hard class after all, it was not that bad. She was very chill, canceled class a lot and the grading wasn't too harsh in my opinion. If you come to class, participate, do all speeches and required lab assignments and hours, you will do just fine. Overall, I would take another class with professor, she's not hard at all.

This class was not hard at all, do the little work assigned and your good to go. It was an online class and was a breeze if you read through the material assigned. Not much interaction with the professor but there was really no need to at all, almost everything is pretty clear. If you are looking fir a chill 1 unit course, this is it for sure.

She's a really chill professor, to the point where she tends to cancel class often, at least twice a semester. She's not that hard of a grader either, so when you look at things, it'll be a chill semester as long as you do the required work. Her class is not hard at all, and the in class activies are really fun and engaging, you really get to know your classmates. I'm taking her Public Speaking course and it's a pretty chill class I would say, she's not into big assignments per say. You have 3 overall speeches in the class and one of them ends up being a group speech, so it's not too bad. There is basic everyday lab work that needs completing, but overall, it's not too hard of a class. I recommend her!

This class was a breeze honestly, it was simply a 1 unit online class and it was not difficult at all. Everything was laid out on a week by week basis and the assignments were not difficult at all. There is quite the amount of reading involved, and it's mostly discussion and writing based. Not a hard grader either, just follow the directions!

Fun and super chill class, she is really laid back on everything. Lot's of various discussions both in class and online and then a few presentations during class. There is also a group project at the end of the semester as well, which is not hard at all. I think her TA does most of the grading, so it's pretty chill. I recommend for an easy class.

She's not a hard grader at all, all those people that left bad reviews are just slackers and people who didn't do the work. If you put in the effort and actually do the work, not only will you get a good grade, but you will also learn a lot from Dr. Massimo. It's not easy in terms of the workload, but she's really funny and it's an overall not bad.

Honestly, she's not a hard professor by any means. She is really laxed and laid back with the due dates if you communicate with her. The class itself was really fun and you really got to know one another through the class activities and online component as well. Dr. Massimo is a really chill teacher who really cares about her students. She really wants you to become.a better public speaker and she really shows you how to become a better one. All you have to do is finish all the assignments she assigns and you will pass. None of the assignments she assigns are difficult or time consuming.

I just finished taking Dr. Massimos Late Start 8 Week Interpersonal Class. It was amazing, despite not having met in person, due to the current situation, she still made the transition to online learning smooth and easy. Even though we were online, the activities she had us do really helped us understand the material and concepts taught.

She was super understanding regarding the situation that occurred and was always willing to work with the class. I learned so much from her even though it turned out to be online. Inspirational, Accessible Outside of Class, Hilarious

I just finished taking Dr. Massimo's 8 Week Online Listening class and I really enjoyed it. We learned a lot about the various types of Listening techniques and skills we can use for future classes an our careers. It is a very easy class, if you complete the work on time, there's no reason you won't get an A. The professor is very caring.

Taking Dr. Massimos class was one of her best decisions Ive made. She was super funny, engaging, and most of all, she cared for her students. As long as you communicate problems with her or her TA, youll do just fine. Communication is key in this class. Make use of the resources available and ask questions when needed. I recommend her for sure.

I took her class online this semester. While she does assign weekly homework, they are fairly simple and I ended up learning a lot from her within the last 6 weeks. Show up to class, work on the assignments, go to lab, and do your best on the speeches. She only wants for you to succeed!

I took Massimo's Interpersonal Communications class over the summer, so 6 weeks total. I felt that the work load was not a lot, especially compared to my other classes. Discussions and assignments are introspective and help you learn more about yourself. Was always worried I would hate taking communications but this class was awesome!

Ms. Massimo provided a comfortable place to learn and made the class fun. This my first time taking summer courses. I'm sad I couldn't have her throughout a main term. I could have used a great teacher and the experience a class like this offers. I used to be deathly afraid of speeches, but now I see them as a challenge, thanks to this class.

Dr. Massimo made the learning environment for COMM 111 very comfortable. Despite having a crazy work load, I really enjoyed the hybrid class. The material I learned in both class/ online was very relevant and helped me better develop my speeches. Her TA was very nice and answered any questions I had.

Dr. Massimo requires participation but is realistic in her expectations. Taking her class will definitely make you feel more confident in your ability to communicate. If you are looking to meet requirements and get a leg up in your communication skills, she is the perfect professor.

I took this class at a time where we had to do our class and speeches in an online setting where at times it felt like learning was limited but I feel happy with the learning I did. Her class was great and even though it was online she managed to still make it work. The workload was somewhat heavy, but the assignments weren't difficult and helped with the speech process. My only problem was having to go to the lab online because it was very busy and practicing speeches and getting your hw checked was tedious.

Great professor and a great class! Very flexible due to the new COVID restrictions. Intense 6 week course but I learned a lot! The hardest part was figuring out the lab manuak assignments. Dr Massimo had a great TA Justin who was extremely helpful. Definitely recommend!

Professor Massimos class was super easy, she was really flexible with assignments with everything going on with COVID. Sometimes she does take a little to reply to emails and a little unorganized, but overall easy class! Just do all of the assignments and youll pass.

Work was mostly workbooks and discussions. Since it was online, we presented on zoom and submit video of the speech. super chill, absolutely loved her :)

I took Professor Massimo for Comm-111 during the pandemic. Massimo is a sweet and kind professor. Although it was difficult teaching a communications class online. she accommodated the needs of her students an offered tons of extra credit! Her TA was also very helpful during the course. As a first year college student I was very nervous taking a Public Speaking class, however Dr. Massimo made it very fun and engaging. The professor is very hard-working and truly cares for her student's education. She gives you 3 resources to make sure you are staying on track! She is constantly giving reminders and is very understanding. It may seem like a bunch of work when you first start but it will all get easier once you get into the groove of things.

I am currently taking her online Listening Techniques class and it's pretty simple and straightforward. Every week a new module unlocks and it consists of everything needed for the week. There's little to no reason why you can't pass this class with an A, I'm currently am. Weekly discussions and a few assignments here and there and that's it!

I took Dr. Massimo's online COMM-125 (Career Communication Class). The textbook was free! Class mainly consisted of chapter quizzes, online discussion, several reflection papers and videos, and a career speech at the end. The class schedule was well-organized, with weekly coursework due every Monday. I would recommend taking her!

I took her COMM-113 hybrid class that met once a month. She is a wonderful person and the assignments are super clear. Weekly discussions every single week, around 4 projects/papers, and 10 MC quizzes every week. Quizzes were not hard and was open-book. Textbook was pretty cheap and easy A in general.

COMM-126 was completely online. A couple discussions a week, two short papers, and two quizzes. Late start 8 week, but was super smooth. Highly recommend taking this one unit course, also the readings are free!

I have taken Professor Massimo on 4 separate occasions and I can honestly say she is one of the best and most genuine professors you can find on the Ohlone campus. She is caring, relatable, and willing to accommodate in any way she can. The fact that she is rated anything less than a 4.5 on Rate my professor should be considered criminal!

Im taking her hybrid Interpersonal Communication class and while it may seem like a lot of work, if you manage your time wisely, its definitely doable. Plus, she gives our a ton of extra credit, no way you can fail. Simple assignments like discussions, quizzes, and few papers/projects. Its not a hard class. Do the work, and youll do just fine.

Professor Massimo is a great teacher. Even if I did not see her physically the whole semester, I felt her love and support to her students. She's always there to answer your question whenever you need help. I really love her class. It thought me how to become a great listener. I highly recommend everyone to take her class!

Dr. Massimo is clearly passionate about communications, social justice and connecting you to real world issues and content. The curriculum seems to be built on her own insight (As the head of dept. and she's a pHD!), the textbook and industry leaders/experts as well. In addition, she draws from local community leaders as well. Highly Recommended!

Though I took this class online, it was definitely an easy A! I can appreciate a professor who was super understanding during this covid season, and she was super easy to get a hold of. Her grading scale is accurate to her expectation of you, which isn't as much as it seems. The class work doesn't feel like work, because it's entertaining!

Professor Massimo provides a safe environment for your learning experience. It's one of those classes where the work doesn't feel like work at all. It's fun and entertaining and everyone gets involved even if you get pushed out of your comfort zone. You get comfortable speaking in front of your class, and everyonee ends up supporting each other.

This class was definitely more of an experience than it was a class. We spent most of the class actually having conversations with one another and then discussing about how we each interacted with one another, because the best way to learn about interpersonal communication is having those connections right there in class. It was fun!

This was one of those courses that puts you on your toes. Our culture is a big part of who we are, and to have it being disected in front of you can sometimes become very emotional, and yet the entire class was so bold and empowered by it. Learning from others in the class as much as we learn from professor massimo was exciting and a new experience

Wow, I never expected an online class to be as engaging as this class was! The class had really good organization and a clear layout, it was easy to follow with weekly modules posted each week. There was no textbook required, which was a plus and the assignments were easy to complete. She was really understanding with late work due to COVID.

I took Dr. Massimo's online COMM-125 (Career Communication) course, and it was a blast! She is a very caring and nice professor! She responds very quickly to questions, and her TA was also super helpful! The workload was somewhat heavy towards the end of the semester, but it was still a great experience. I would totally recommend taking her!

She's a great professor, she will work with and their is extra credit but if you work its going to be difficult to attend any of the extra credit events.

The course cover some very useful tools for your career, such as interview, resume, communication skills at workplace. The online course was very well designed. The teacher posted the coverage of the week each Monday, including all the assignments, 3-4 assignments each week due next Monday. The course is intensive. Stay on top of assignments.

Professor Massimo has an 8 week class that is amazing. You have 3 speeches to give and many lab assignments and discussion boards per week, but its worth it because the last 8 weeks of school, you have one less class to worry about.

Overall, this class was the best. It worked well with my schedule and the assignments are not that hard. As long as you do things on time and get the required hours that you need in the lab, you should be all set. She also offers help outside of class and has a great T.A that helps if youre ever confused about anything. Loved the class!

Professor Massimo is amazing! This course was really eye opening and helpful! No book required all reading material provided online. Read the lessons and participate in the discussion posts, only a couple of quizzes. Great TA to help answer any questions that you may have! I would definitely take this class!

I took Dr. Massimo's Intro to Listening class and I have to say I enjoyed it! Class mainly consisted of discussion boards, and a few written reflection assignments. No textbooks for this class - the required readings were free and online. Would totally recommend if you're looking to take a 1 unit course from the Ohlone COMM department.

I took her Public Speaking class and although it was through Zoom because of COVID, she still made the class enjoyable and engaging. Her laid back approach to teaching the class showed how much she understood the struggles students are going through with distance learning. The class was not hard, she adjusts based on the class's feel of things.

Her class is very entertaining, and while she does encourage participation, all speaking feels friendly and non-judgmental. Fair grader and not tough, only one speech to do for a project which shows your creativity or personal side of you. Very fun teacher.

Professor Massimo is a really good teacher, I had her for Public Speaking last year and this year for Intercultural Communication so the course is different but she makes the class feel great. I like the discussions we have in her class and the lectures are interesting. Most of all she cares about her students and is really funny.

She is a really good teacher and likes having discussions with the class. You just have to pace yourself with the homework, because sometimes, it's a lot but also, just don't procrastinate. All of the assignment are pretty easy. There are DQ's, but most of the discussions are based on videos. It's easier to do video responses for the DQ's lowkey.

top 10 professors at Ohlone. for a comm class, this was already an intimidating course to take. professor made it really open and the class itself became really close. We did read chapters out of the textbook on our own since the class wasn't too lecture heavy we discussed them in class and it was all super interactive. take her class. no regrets.

this class makes you feel less alone in the world. the prof genuinely cares about everyones opinion and allows for discussions to flow. it takes the pressure off from the rest of the world. Kind of felt like a sanctuary. If you're reading this looking for a sign to take her class, you should be lucky she still has seats available! would take again

I took Dr. Massimo's class public speaking class during the summer, so the six weeks went by fast. You have to stay on top of your assignments, but the work that is assigned is easy. Dr. Massimo was always very helpful during class and in the lab with trying to develop topics for our speeches. Her TA's are also helpful and very quick to respond.

Took this as a 6 week summer course, so the schedule was quite busy. However, Prof. Massimo is very flexible and was nice enough to extend some deadlines . There are three speeches but quite a bit of other work to do, so I would advise people who take this class in summer to work ahead, especially the lab activities, as the lab does get busy.

For an online class her course is pretty easy. The assignments were not hard to understand and was easy to do. She and her T.A are always willing to help if you have any questions about anything. Out of all the communications classes I've took Professor Massimo happens to be one of my favorites and she is a really good teacher.

Overall, decent professor. - In Fall 2021, this was a hybrid course that involved both live lectures and online components. - Lectures were held live via Zoom. It's not the best learning environment for a communications class, and I could tell that it wasn't easy for Dr. Massimo to always keep everyone engaged, but she did the best that she could!

I took this class over zoom and it was pretty fun. I got to make short videos to get to know people - which was admittedly weird at first but was actually really nice to hear other people's opinions instead of skim-reading discussions all the time. Took Dr. Massimo for Listening Techniques and it was a purely online class and the set up was amazing. Every week a new module posted up and most of the work was done through discussions and videos we made. For a 1 unit class, it was a breeze, everything was clear and she had a amazing TA named Justin who was always readily available to assist us.

I'm currently taking her online Listening Techniques class, and I'm really enjoying the content of what we learn and she provides really good feedback on our papers & video discussions. I really like how everything is laid out perfect on Canvas, and there is no textbook required for the course. She also has a really nice TA, Justin who is awesome.

Professor Massimo is a great choice if you're trying to get COMM111 out of the way. The class structure is very clear and organized, and the workload is manageable. She responds to questions quickly and gives a lot of time for assignments/speeches. I had no issues with this class whatsoever, learnt quite a bit, and had fun while doing so as well!

I thought the grading process was very fair and transparent. Lots of class discussions. Overall I really enjoyed this class.

She is so understanding and easy, I had covid and she let me rest and finish up on my own pace. She also has a fair amount of work assigned and it takes barely a day to get it done. She also acknowledges our nervousness and grades fairly and easily. Its an easy A if you do the work and know what you want to say

Dr. Massimo is a great professor. I took the online class and it was a breeze. The class was very enjoyable and interesting. Each week consisted of a reading, discussion, and quiz. There were reflection papers that were actually fun to write. The overall class format was well structured and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this class for GE.

Great teacher, exactly the kind of interactive teacher you would want and very mature/patient. However, it seems most of the students that take this class don't exactly want to be here or are only taking it for the credit. In order to take more from this class, students who take it (especially this teacher) should be more interactive and friendly.

She was a pretty good teacher. She grades a little late because you have up to a week after the due date to get credit. She always gives great feedback and praises what you did well in. The course consists of 3 major speeches and going to the communication lab. There are no quizzes or exams, but there are some assignments. I recommend taking her.

She is pretty easy and very nice and allows up to 3 late assignments, my class was a half semester class and she split the work good into 8 weeks. There was a discussion post, 1-2 worksheets, and a quiz each week, and the quiz questions are the exact same from the worksheets. Well organized class and nice teacher, def recommend taking!

Professor Massimo is a kind and generous instructor who provides helpful feedback. As long as you complete all assignments and perform well in your speeches, you're likely to receive a good grade. While her response time to emails can be slow, and grading may take longer than expected, her overall approach is supportive and understanding.

a great professor with a great attitude... shes funny and likes to crack jokes to ease up the students well and if the class wants to be chatty back itd be nice but if you have a quiet class like I did its a little bit awkward but you can appreciate her for trying... public speaking is hard if you're shy/introverted but she makes it easy enough
