She is a pleasant person to talk to and an excellent latin dancer, bravo
Very nice but seemed like she was speaking a foreign language!
teresa is a very clear and funny teacher and is easy to approach! great work
Great Instructor. She knows the subject matter very well. Good work.
Awesome, recommend you take every course she teaches
extremely interesting, very approachable, great instructor
the best teacher ever!!! funny, interesting, very intelligent
most amazing teacher! shes intelligent and very funny! awesome
very funny, very nice, very helpful..very COOL!
she's awesome.. loves her food, loves the students and makes the class fun
First off, she has no organization when it comes to teaching, she is all over the place. Secondly don't u need to know a bit of english when teaching spanish to english speaking students? Ur better off takin spanish night courses at a local High Scho
Teresa Rocks! She's awesome! Very funny in class. Wants to help you in any way.
She's such a fun prof! I laughed so much in this class! She expects quite a bit but you definately learn alot!
best spanish teacher that i've ever had i learned more in two semesters in her class than i learned in two whole years of highschool spanish
She was a fine teacher, a little unclear at times, but in general she was ok
she's kind of unclear at times, goes back in forth in her lessons, can be confusing. she would be helpful if u could track her down, but the lady is always on the run. she's a good marker.. tests are fair, you just have to pay attention, do the reading, and car about spanish
very confusing
AWESOME. This woman will bend over backwards for you no matter how much help you need. Her tests and quizes are easy as long as you pay attention in class and do assignments. If you ever want to take Spanish, she will make it an interesting and beneficial experience.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. As long as you care and really want to learn she will do whatever she can to help you. great sense of humor and very nice. class is easy as long as you pay attention. hint-if you dont actually want to learn spanish then dont take the course (obviously!)
She is sooooooo HOT!!! The Latin sexiness in person! She reminds me of Salma Hayek in her good years. Excellent teacher too.
This woman is amazing. Teresa is such a great teacher and a great person. Don't be afraid to go to her office and ask for help. She is always willing to sit down with a student for as long as it takes for you to understand. She is honestly one of the greatest teachers I've had. She is fair, honest and is passionate about teaching Spanish.
teresa is the most caring, approachable teacher ever! she is always there if u need her help, and has a wonderful, energetic personality and a great sense of humor! if you want to enjoy Spanish, Teresa makes learning the language an amazing experience!
Best instructor that I have ever had. She is extremely passionate about what she is teaching and she's so funny. If you have the chance to take Spanish with her...DO IT!
She is sooo hottt!!!
Teresa is a fairly good professor. She is helpful and has a good sense of humor, but marks extremely hard and is pretty disorganized. She is also very unclear about her expectations and assignments. She expects a lot.
you are such a good teacher!!!!!!!!!!
Teresa's a very intelligent woman. She's really funny and easy to talk to. She's good at making things manageable for her students and genuinely wants her students to succeed. Don't feel intimidated by her on the first day!
she is a hot tamale!! hard to understand but it dosent matter i can stare at her beauty all day long! we use the textbook alot shes not very clear but thats becauseof her hot spanish accent
Teresa is great for spanish. she is a little unclear about expectations, but lets you redo writing assignments. very passionate about her work. often goes off on tangents. open for office hours, but expect to spend 2 to 3 hrs there :)
She is very nice and tries to help, however she gives way too much homework and I think she thinks you should be fluent by the time you've done one semester in spanish
She is unclear and unhelpful. Nice, but would allow students to 'redo' homework for a better grade, then forgot to include all the new marks. Will never take a class with her again.
She assigns a LOT of work, but allows you to re-do relieving some of the difficulty. Also she has some high expectations but she is a very nice lady and is very helpful.
A super nice lady who is passionate about teaching and very willing to help students. She is willing to let you redo assignments (hard marker) but who has time with the overwhelming amount of homework assigned. About 1/3 of the class dropped out. Only take her class if you are serious about learning Spanish and expect to work very hard.
Super, super hard for a 100 level class, do not take it thinking it will be an easy elective. A ton of work and a million little assignments that pile up quickly. Tons of vocab to memorize. Interesting but too much work for a 100 level class.
Extremely forgetful, tons of assignments, will 'correct' sentences, grammar and word choice that my Salvadorean family could find no fault with. Strongly recommend another prof.
Theresa was a great prof! Very funny, easy to follow and willing to help if you needed it. The class is tough though - there are a ton of assignments and it moves fast. Don't take Spanish if you think it'll be an easy elective! It's fun to learn, but you definitely need to be willing to do the work!!
I love Teresa! She can be a little unclear on assignments, just ask if you don't know. take the time to make corrections on your assigments and hand them back in.there are are lots of little assignments but you learn from them, and she's flexible. The entire midterm and final were comprised solely of textbook exercises!
Teresa is very intelligent & genuinely cares about her students' learning. She gives a lot of assignments, so stay on top of the work load. I recommend going to her office to make corrections on your papers, but expect to stay for a while. She's a great professor if you're serious about learning spanish, otherwise it will be challenging.
I don't feel that Teresa was as clear as she could have been. I rushed to hand in my work early, only to find out that she did accept late assignments & allow for redos. (Wish I had known that! Was going for brownie points for early hand ins). She is funny, though, and willing to help. I think it was far too much work for a first year class.
Teresa is annoyingly irrelevant in class. Her assignment outlines are very vague and yet you sacrifice large portions of your grade if you get the slightest thing wrong. Then she later tells you that you could redo assignments for better grades; that would've been nice to know. Expect to put in a lot of work teaching the material to yourself!
Very passionate about the Spanish language, however assignments were very vague, and she gets sidetracked by things way too often and she Contradicts herself when marking papers.
Teresa is funny and knows what the subject extremely well. I liked her way of teaching. Lots of assignments, but they are simple. She allows re-dos. And she is extremely helpful and likes students asking questions. She wants her students to do well. I would take more Spanish classes with Teresa. (I took Spanish in high school)
Teresa's awesome. However, this class should be listed as hybrid, a great deal of work (10%) is online. Doesn't follow the syllabus; spends a lot of the time lecturing on how to be better students, wasting precious time; not to mention we're paying to learn Spanish. There's a TONNE of homework in this class. GPA killer-to get 4.0 must earn 90%
I learned a lot in this class, but you have to work at it. This is not a bird course by any means. Teresa is an amazing language teacher who wants you to succeed. Often work sheets was emailed late at night, the day before they were expected to be complete. She pushes students to the limit, but in the end, I have to say I am better for it.
Class is like drowningtrying for air & get forced back under. Amount of homework is CRAZY: textbook & workbook, weekly useless writing assignments and pg after pg of extra exercises (full of type-o's no answers given) not to mention extra computer work. Lectures are non-stop force-fed grammar. doesn't care its a lot of work just gives more & more
I agree, there's a lot of homework Teresa knows that. That's why due dates are flexible, she allows rewrites, and gives bonus marks. This class is hard work, but if you work at it you will be rewarded. Its a shame that UFV as a university doesn't respect languages and doesn't encourage Spanish students by offering more eg conversational classes.
Expects you to work around her schedule, rather than the other way around, which is frustrating for those who don't live near campus/have busy schedules. While her lectures are engaging, she gets off-topic easily. Teresa is a lovely woman who is obviously passionate about teaching, but she should remember that we have other classes, too.
Great prof, lectures the whole class but tends to go off topic. Has lots of energy. Lots of homework, 200ish words every week but that's what learning a language requires. Found it easy to learn with her as I already speak French and understand most of the concepts already. Always gives bonus if you write more than asked. Always willing to help
Be aware of long talkings. Only a fraction of the class is used for teaching the language. Obsolete teaching and boring lecture classes.
Extremely old fashion teaching methods. Talks to much in class of irrelevant subjects. All handouts full of typo's and her excuse is that she is too busy that works on her handouts at two o'clock in the morning. She is the only Spanish teacher for SPAN 102 but at least we can learn Spanish in the labs with different teacher.
Teresa is very passionate about Spanish culture as well as the language, this is clearly evident through her energetic lectures. Dedicate just 10 minutes a day studying the weeks topic, and you will pass with a good grade. If you get off to a rough start, she always gives opportunities to earn extra credit. She is very meticulous in her grading.
Really nice person and very passionate about Spanish and Latin culture. Very busy so it's difficult to see her in her office hours Proud she's combined 2 classes into 1 (Spanish 102). Unfortunately it's very difficult to properly learn a language in that short of time. Expect to be pushed hard and criticised if you don't understand right away.
She is a very likeable person, but not good at teaching. She takes marks off on your papers that have nothing to do with your spanish ability. She blames you for your failure, claiming she's not responsible because she gave you everything you needed to succeed. Her 102 is supposed to be taught over 2 semesters, she crams it into 1 and it's too much
She is amazing and very passionate about the spanish culture. Everyone in the class likes her.
Teresa is very passionate about what she teaches, although she does tend to get side tracked quite often. She is very encouraging and always willing to help, but does not give enough detail in what she expects of us in the homework.
Not bad but extremely old-fashioned teacher....
Be prepare to end with printing piles of paper. Instead of PowerPoint in classroom she gives paper handouts. She knows Spanish and teach it passionately, although she talks more than teach.
She emails homework the night before it is due, even the night before a midterm. She is passionate but she is also disorganized, her notes on the board never finish her thought. Because of this, the class fell behind & the last week had 3 weeks of work. She also didn't set a date for oral final until 1 week beforehand. Made is hard to get off work
She is a caring professor however, is very very unclear and disorganized. The syllabus always gets changed and due dates are always unclear. Wish there was another professor who stuck to certain material for the whole semester. This class is very hard to take on top of a full course load. If you want to do well do not take with more then 2 courses.
Teresa is a great Spanish prof. She is high energy which helps keeps you engaged while learning grammar and the "boring stuff". Reference your textbook and the links she sends you and you'll get an A. Practice is a must as it is with learning any other language. She's clear on what she expects of you and her expectations are reasonable
Teresa is very passionate and has lots of energy however I do not recommend taking this class. Teresa is very disorganized and gets sidetracked easily. She never finishes her thought so it is very hard to follow. Instructions for assignments are unclear. The textbook is super expensive (over $200) and she barely uses it.
Teresa is a nice lady. However, she wants you to come into this class open minded. I don't have a problem with this, but she definitely should practice what she preaches. She is very passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to the spanish language, but makes sure you know that if you only speak one language, you are close minded
Teresa always wants students to succeed. Will accept assignments after deadlines.
Teresa is a very passionate prof but she can be a little intense at times. Participation is key in getting a good grade. She does allow extensions for assignments and her exams mirror the reviews. She keeps class upbeat and interesting and if you keep up with the topics you'll fond the class relatively easy.
Teresa is an amazing prof. She genuinely cares about her students success and the Spanish language. Teresa has been a huge part of my university career and I cannot express how grateful I am for the experiences that she has made possible for me. You will never regret having a second language!
Teresa cares a lot for her students and always makes herself available to help students if they are having difficulty. Her explanations go by very fast but she comes back to them often throughout the semester. She makes the class enjoyable by telling jokes and relating Spanish to things we know. There is A LOT of homework but just put the work in
She's very passionate but her assignments are poorly organized, she doesn't teach Spanish vocabulary (yet won't shut up about how important it is), teaches the same lecture multiple times, and started every class by telling us that we were bad at Spanish and that that was our fault. She expected way too much of an intro level course.
I had Teresa for Spanish 101 and 102. She is really passionate about teaching Spanish, and loves to see her students do well. Study the material for the week before class, and keep on top of your assignments, ask questions, and you'll do well! Going to her office hours and getting one on one instruction was also extremely helpful for me.
She knows her stuff and she's passionate, but she is horribly organized. She assumes that you know what her expectations are without explaining them. It was an intro level class and she was trying to teach us fluent Spanish without teaching vocabulary (yet insisted it was important). It was always "our fault" we weren't understanding the content.
Teresa's class was extremely hard for a level 100 course. students were marked rather harshly on small accent and spelling mistakes, which left lots of marks on their papers without really helping them to learn. Was not very helpful during the online transition as she simply stated it was now a self-study course.
She is the worst language prof i have ever had. Barely learned anything, had to teach myself the entire course. Our class only did well because we made a group-chat to help eachother, because she did not help us. She does not take emails from students and has a terrible attitude when called out. If youre doing spanish online DONT take it w her
I felt like I taught myself in this course, and repeatedly goes over the same material we have been taught before the previous week, or goes over her syllabus the whole class. Her assignments and textbook activities are impossible to find. She gives back assignments late. The only thing that saved me was Spanish in High school and the group chat!
Oh my gosh, Teresa is HILARIOUS. I really enjoyed her class. As someone who has previous knowledge of French, I found her Spanish class okay. I know that many others in the class with no prior language experience found it very fast-paced and difficult to keep up. BUT, she is very welcoming to anyone who needs extra help. Love her!
Her online lectures were so unorganized, she spent about half of the lecture each class going over the SYLLABUS. She is so hard on marking and doesn't explain what you did wrong. Gloria who you take the lab with is amazing on the other hand. Avoid spanish with her at all costs. Take german or smthn.
Teresa is hilarious I will give her that. She is very proud of the students who do well. But with the people who maybe are not doing the best, she turns on them. The course is way too hard for a 100 course and is way too strict about the accents and spelling. I would understand if this was a 400 course but for newcomers, it's too much.
Teresa is a mediocre prof. She cares a lot and is pretty funny. She pretty much talks about the same stuff every class and I don't learn anything new. Her documents are really useful but she doesn't go over them and you pretty much teach yourself from those. Participation really matters to her. Put the work in and you'll do well.
Teresa was a decent prof. She tries to help students and be available outside class. I wouldn't take another class with her; her lectures became extremely repetitive, we didn't move on as scheduled, and she expected us to know material we hadn't covered since she spent classes repeating old info. Textbook necessary for seminar, not lecture.
Teresa's lectures are terrible. She CONSTANTLY wastes time (<50% of class time is useful, new material) and never follows her own lesson plan schedule. Taking coherent lecture notes is nearly impossible. Nonetheless, as an easy grader, she's perfect for an easy A if you study on your own time. If you really want a quality education, look elsewhere.
She is really good at teaching and is understanding when you are unable to complete assignments on time. She gives really good feedback after class. It is super important to her that you attend and participate in every class.
If you can tolerate boring 90-minute lectures, she's amazing. Well-paced course, work is spread out through the term. The documents she hands out are super helpful and explain everything really well. She has a lot of passion, and some of the things she says are useful in real life situations, going into Latin American culture.
Loved taking Spanish with her! Has assignments that she sends out every week that ARENT for marks but if you don't do them, you wont do well on the tests. Only b/c the questions that are on the assignments are literally copy n pasted onto the tests! Shes engaging in class but sometimes has the tendency to go off topic. highly recc!!
Very clear expectations, if you memorize the vocab she hands out then you will do just fine. Her worksheets are pretty straight forward and she cares SO MUCH about her students. I put in pretty much no effort to memorizing vocab and rarely participated but still somehow got a B. She talks a lot but it isn't boring, and the repetition is good.
Teresa is honestly hilarious. She is very expressive. The lectures can go on pretty long though so mentally checking out occurs frequently. The worksheets she assigns are straightforward as long as you are actually retaining and using the information learned. Easy to get a good mark in her class, just be interested in it.
We had 6 total assignments every two weeks (online), a midterm and a final. Loved people who participated and whoever memorised vocab. Rarely puts you on the spot to answer Q's (but it did happen). Just do the practice exercises at the end of the documents she gives you and the exams will be easy. Really caring and amazing at explaining things.
Teresa was a great prof and I had fun in her classes. She engages her students and a long as you can put in the work and want to learn, you'll do fine.
My least favourite prof at UFV. Teresa calls on students often during class. She comments most classes on the discrepancy between the "good" and "bad" students... I barely learnt anything from her classes; I learnt more from online sources and the lab instructor.
She talks way too much about herself and her life which takes up lecture time, she contradicts herself a lot, she backtracks all the time, and her lectures aren't really helpful, but the class is not hard, and she gives so many resources it's like impossible to not understand what's going on, so it all evens out.
Teresa is all over the place. Going to her classes is a waste of time, the only benefit is participation is worth 15%.The biggest problem is she just rambles and goes on about random stuff and says you will "make her cry" even if you try your best when answering questions. If you do all the readings you will be fine but your feelings might get hurt
I have never taken Spanish before and this prof is terrible. This class was supposed to help you learn from nothing and that is why I took it. She rambles on in class about things that don't have anything to do with the course. I know more about her family and her overall life than I do about Spanish.
Teresa's lectures were waste of time, the labs were much more helpful. She ramble on about irrelevant stuff and rather than teaching us the course content. The most frustrating part was all the printing, every week we have to print out everything she uploads which got expensive and time consuming. She will publicly criticizes you if you don't do it
