Great class! I feel like a highly educated person and know i now have the edge in sports nutrition. You have to never miss class to be on point and get a decent grade. Technical but Id rather know the details than be robbed of an education.
Her class is not difficult but not an easy A. But if you do your work, you will passed. Don't expect to just passed by being lazy, might as well quit. I don't t normally give good ratings but I gotta say she is well prepared before class. She answered my questions promptly and offer good advice.
Professor Saechao is very helpful. I'm glad she doesn't grade on curve because I have an A in her class. It's just not fair if I study hard and others don't so they can leech off my hardwork. P.S. If you are still having a bad grade in her class, maybe you need to change your study habit! Duh...
Professor Saechao is a great instructor, she really cares about her students and takes the time to help you if your are willing to put in the effort. Although nutrition in general is quit complex, she strives to simplify it more for your understanding to excel in the nutrition field. Overall great professor, she's outgoing and very friendly.
Great course for nursing majors! Just took nutrition 160 summer course and points are fairly distributed among exams, assignments and class activities.
I recommend for those of you taking this class in the summer to not take other courses. Overall, well worth my 6 weeks! I learned so much about nutrition and is the assignments were very purposeful to the field. The perspective of the class is nicely varied--as the professor covers not only the clinical aspect of nutrition, but the personal and..
Sports nutrition class is awesome! I never knew there was so much to learn and I feel more ready than ever before in counseling my clients at the gym. Projects require work but are extrenely relevant to the Sports field. Good lecturer overall
Overall a great class and teacher. It takes a dedicated effort to take this class but her Power Points are extremely helpful and she does provide study guides. Classes are mixed a bit with group activities and others that complement the chapter content.
Must attend class otherwise you feel behind. Im a dental hygenist major and this class was essential for my field and I learned so much! Great content quality but exams make you think!
Professor Saechao class is definitely fun and enjoyable if you do the work and show up. My classmate complianed that they have bad grades but I told them that because they don't do the class homeworks and they don't study enough.
As long as you do the online homework and study guides for tests it wouldn't be all that difficult to get a good grade. Gives lots of extra credit on tests. During lecture she is very clear and answers questions very well
Test? Study for them. Homework? Yes, but its not hard. Helpful? Very much, and gives good feedback. Easy class? Not so much, get ready to learn! Overall, it prepared me for future classes for my major. She is a great teacher, and knows her stuff. You need to have a serious mindset about your education. She is one of the best teachers I have had.
Her lectures are pretty good. I prefer to learn the material through her lecture but requires book as well. Exams include lecture., powerpoint and book content. Not a class to slack off. She is firm, but also nice.
No midterm, that's cool however, her exams aren't a walk in the park. We had a ranter in our class and still managed to lecture well. Passionate and helpful. Posts powerpoints, and relate well to her lectures.
Works best for you if you have a bit of a science background, otherwise, you learn a lot. Teachers specialty is pretty high and can answer many mind-boggling questions in sports nutrition. Provides Power points and be sure to take good notes. Lots of info. Tests vary. Sometimes they are easier sometimes harder
Does an Athletes case study that is cool and practical. This is the major project. Does many in-class activities to apply knowledge and sometimes gives quizzes insead. A very interesting class and learned a whole lot more than I expected.
Very easy class if you attend lectures, study PowerPoint slides, and complete online homework assignments. Gives extra credit on every test. Make sure to attend class and turn in assignments on time. She is anal about rules and will grade half credit if any assignment is late.
Assignments are relevant to the field of sports nutrition and challenges students to think outside the norm in gyms etc. lectures are not boring . Does many in class applications in groups as well.
Does activities every class in partners and groups and helps out. Does not lectue for the entire class and mixes things up. Activities helped enhance how I can implement many nutrition topics in my life. Shes pretty approachable and provided Presentations online. Some onlinr homework too.
Nutrition project is interesting and relates to actual DVC student community. Does many in class activities and keeps lectures interesting. Last exam is not accumulative. Personable and approachable teacher.
very hard. very strict. tough grader
Shes a really great teacher. Make sure to take notes not only on the power point, but also what she writes on the whiteboard during lecture. Also, don't miss any of the online assignments(big part of your grade). Overall, shes a great teacher and I would recommend her.
Provides a group and individual project. I am currently close to an A, 88.56%, and provides one extra credit assignments. I learned tons from lectures.
Professor Saechao Is a great professor she helps break it down for different types of learners. I'm a visual learner and she would have pictures and draw diagrams on the board to help the class understand the material. If you do the online homework (do it it's easy and will bring your B to an A easily) and study the study guide you'll be fine.
Would recommend for nursing majors. She balances, projects, lectures, and in-class activities well to learn in different ways. Does Powerpoints--however, take good notes to get all the information!
If you come to class ready to learn, Mrs. Saechao will be one of your favorite professors. She's very empathetic and does a great job of catering to the needs of every individual student. There's also plenty of hands-on activities in class, so it's rarely dull. Worth noting, though: she has a pet peeve with tardiness and texting in class.
This class is not for the lazy. I thought it was easy. I worked full-time and still passed with 93% in the class. Most of my classmates had a low 95%, and they were complaining because it was not 100%. I mean come on, passing is passing. So prepare to have fun in her class.
Taking her again for Spring 2017. She is the kinda professor you can get used to having more than once. Be aware she expects great communication and responsibilty from you. Do that and you will enjoy her classes.
Great personal applications class! Activities are practical to my life! Does a project in groups and allows classtime for it.
Prof. Saechao embodies a professional. Lectures straight to the point with grace. Utilizes the boards around the classroom, and class exercises to ensure an understanding of the material. Show up to class (on time!) if you want to know about nutrition and it's relation to health to receive a good grade. Online assignments for each chapter. Do them.
Took sports nutrition and I learned such valuable information that I did not know! I lacked alot of science and validation of concepts and she helped me have this edge. Does a practical athlete case study which I enjoed, and is interactive with the class; provides slides and study guides.
Dynamic lectures and class activities. Is inspirational and she strives to help us out by using different ways to teach the material. Sometimes she goes out of her way and students take advantage of her. Attendance is important to keep up with the material.
Food and Culture class was amazing. She made it a very safe environment to learn about us other cultures. She does many in class group activities that I enjoyed.
I am a personal training major. She makes science easy. Recoomend for all fitness majors cuz she also does a major project to alliw us to apply what learned with an actual athlete.
Awesome professor ! Definitely recommend her
Very professional, knowledgeable, helpful, & beautiful. She takes pride of her profession. I love her!
DVC now offers an online sports nutrition course and it was the most engaging and organized online class I have taken! She records her lectured, with the slided, and I feel like Im in the classroom. Enjoyed the assignments and activities as well. I am considering taking her in person.
Prof. Saechao is very nice and caring. Definitely is dedicated and knows what she's teaching, so def recommend if you're a fitness/kinesiology major. Always there for office hours. Only con is often times she rushes through slides, but you can look it over at home +study guides. Easy group projects. Super anal about late/attendance. Easy A class :)
Shes caring, knowledgeable and very approachable. She can be firm sometimes but is needed in the forum course. Dynamic lectured and very interesting group project I enjoyed. Provides study guides.
Sports nutrition was well taught online!! Best online teacher ever!
Personal applications class is pretty laid back compared to nutrition 160. We go a lot of in-class activities to earn points. She uses journals as well to have us reflect on a variety of nutrition topics and too assess us.
Nutrition 115 not listed in the categories but it is a great class! Practical activities mostly done in class.
I did the article homework and i learnt a lot. Policies are implamented so follow them well. Expects good things from students, is aproachable, firm sometimes.
Food and culture class was fun and taught well considering the sensitivity of cultures and religion nowadays. She does a cool blog project as an exam and we explore a lot in a safe environment. Slides are complementary to lectures, so take goid notes
Have to be there and on time. Easy A class but she makes you work for it. She zooms through slides and makes us read about it on our own time. There are study guides. Few worksheets and short journal entries. 1 paper. 1 extra credit paper. Diet Project. An A is achievable, but she has the worst time management skills. U will end up teaching urself
One of the best and nicest professor ever I had at DVC. She is very respectful to her students, she is a good listener, she provides clear clue about all the extra points but you have to work on your own projects. Grading is not very easy and not so hard, you have to study from the exam study guides and the slides also the lectures! Good luck.
Excleent first online course Ive taken..
Provides enough in class activities to stay involved. If you have great attendance, it is not hard to pass. Class does imvolve more science tham expected, but it is a good thing cuz I learned so much.
Especially the group Projects are very practical to the field
She is a super nice lady and would definitely take her class again. She is very understanding will help you succeed. At first I thought I was going to learn about nutrition but its mainly culture and traditional foods.
Would recommend her for you nursing majors. Does group project, and individual diet assignment, and lectures are great. Accessible outside of class. She does expect good communication.
My first online class for Nutrition 130 at DVC. I recommend this professor because the lectures are always interesting, and she really cares for your learning. In each lecture she would go outside the box and give you that extra information. Work every week, but she gives enough time for everything. Learned a lot!
I was enrolled in Nutrition 120-Sports Nutrition online. Her learning units are organized and has YouTube lectures with PowerPoint. You do need the book for the online course. Dont think you can pass without it. Athletic projects are relative to the field and required implementing what you learn for yourself, then an athlete. Gives extra credit
Mrs Saechao was one of the best teachers Ive had so far at DVC. She knew her stuff and always informed us correctly! Id recommend not missing anyyyy classes because you never know if something she says in lecture will be on your next test! She also gives extra credit once ina. While which is helpful and is always there when you need her
This class is not hard, but you have to put your time to study. She is a very good nutrition teacher, but be aware, very hard grader teacher. Don't take this class if you are not ready for it and think it is easy.
Took her online Food and Culture class. Material taught well with audio visual Youtube videos, and other great resources. It dors require research and writing, since it is transferable to UC fir general ed. Recommend.
Sports nutrition online course was actually quite enjoyable! She alternates between discussions and dropbox typed assignments- class becomes predictable and in a groove. Online audio and visual Lectures provided. Be sure to attend online course, I found it not any easier than an in lpersin course.
She was very responsive and organized during the remote teaching move. If you logged onto the Canvas course, the course information was easy to read and follow. You do have to log in several times to stay on top of things. Organized class by week, some assignments due monthly. Great YouTube lectures with slides!
Saechao was a good online teacher but she can be a tough grader so even with simple assignments she's looking for full effort in responses. She offers some extra credit. The one thing I struggled with was the timed online tests because it's one question at a time. Overall she made sure I got a good grade.
Took this course for my nursing requirement. Even though our grade is out of a lot of points, she is very accessible and willing to help with major assignments even during the online transition. Her lectures are recorded with slides, and are very convenient for those taking online classes since you can pause them and play them.
Very good teacher. I relied on her recorded lectures and her MindTap homework assignments are very easy. Tests were difficult because of the time limit being so short but other than that, very easy class. The end of the semester project is the hardest and most time consuming tho
Her Food and Culture course is extremely interesting! She delivers the material we learn in a very pleasant and educational manner. She does provided YouTube lectures with slides. Two reflection papers, fun project and discusdions I actulally lear from.
If you put in the work and time, you will pass this class. Her rubrics make it very clear what you need to do for assignments to get a high grade. Exams are hard, you need to read the text and pay close attention to lectures to be prepared. Her lectures are not engaging, which made it hard to get through them but her study guides are helpful.
Her weekly units are well organized. She has lectures that incorporate more learning material than the book alone. Some are shorter, amd some longer. Discussions are great, and are not every wee like most professors. All material resources she gives relate to her exams. This is good.
She's a great professor, you really have to watch her lectures and do the study guides but I felt like the study guides did not help enough for the exams. They were hard, but her assignments are easy and you have two papers which are not bad at all. I'd take her again, but seriously the exams are pretty rough.
I took her class as a G.E. requirement in order to make sure I was on track to be able to transfer. It was during spring 2021 and I would say that her class was so unorganized and she did not give us enough time to prepare for exams. I would NOT recommend this professor!!
I took her online 160 course for pre-requ for dental hygiene. She teaches material from a clinical and personal perspective. Great content for health majors! Study guided are helpful for exams, and is accessible via zoom. Yes, I would take again.
RATE IS MISLEADING I was expecting an engaging class and a great teacher with a rating that high, it was not. Trust the high difficulty levels stated. Plan on making this class your #1 priority. Lectures are her just reading lines from the textbook, not helpful for teaching, and are PACKED with so much info. Very tough grader. DONT TAKE FOR FUN!
Took food and culture as a GE requirement. Two reflection papers and interesting discussions. Lectures are not too long and doable to listen to in a week. Had clear grading criteria and provides plenty of time to do major assignments.
I would say I found her course very organized. She has brief weekly videos on homepage that take you through what you are doing each week, with visual and audio. Three exams that are fairly doable if you listen to the lectures. Great resources provided along with her material as well. She is more dynamic in person, but online lectures have a ton
One of my least favorite professors at this school. She isn't caring for students, and she doesn't respond quick to emails. It's not too much work but she will pack a bunch in one week. Would never recommend!
Great balance of discussions and written papers. 15 points of extra credit ia offered and added to lowest exam score. Online recorded lectures are provided every week. Met with her several times for exam review and diet assignment review and is helpful. Her hours are mon-thurs in the evening, so good for working ppl
I had major issues and still found this class pleasant . There were two reflection papers due within a month apart. I found ample time is given to complete assignments when she issued them. Three exams and last one is not accumulative, which was great!
Very heavy lectures and tests. Nice lady, not the best teacher. I recommend you only take her classes if you are a nutrition major, it's a lot of information to memorize for proctored exams. All the info she gives in lectures is from the book so if you can learn well from textbook reading, take her.
I couldnt afford the book but was still able to pass the course. I relied on her lectures, and getting good grades on the assignments. She allowed me to use my friends diet software to complete diet assignment. One nutrition research paper, and a diet assignment is issued.
Took this online NUTRI160 for my nursing major Spring2021, overall she is a pretty great teacher! She doesn't accept any late work but giveo eXtra credit to make up, and will allow with documentation. Some assignments are through Mindtap which is easy!
She has a very different teaching style, it has taken me quite some time to get used to it. i would not take her class in the future.
She is very nice and her lectures are easy to understand. Helpful during office hours-I used them quite a bit since it was online. No final exam, but rather smaller exams. Audio and visual lectures each week. The topics are interesting and easy to understand. I highly recommended for everyone.
Took sports nutrition course as a personal training certificate student. It is required for my major. I learned to much about the science of sports nutrition and performance. Lectures is where i learned the most material! She uses great discussions and assignments that apply the concepts. Great at answering questions as well
Professor Saechao was a very kind and understanding professor. As long as you watch her lecture videos and put in some effort, it's an easy A. She also gives extra credit and more than likely will round your grade to an A if it's close to it!
Professor saechao is the best teacher for nutrition! Shes extremely knowledgeable, kind and respected by her students. She provides very clear and concise instructions and support. She even has lots of job opportunities for those looking. I highly recommend her!
Professor Saechao was super nice and you can tell she cares about what she does. Always gave helpful feedback on assignments, and willing to help if you have trouble.
Professor Saechao had lectures for every week, and assignments were interesting. I enjoyed applying the knowledge with the athlete case studies, and the diet assignment was not bad.
Lectures have great information about nutrition, I learned a lot from them. Assignments involve a diet assignment, a research assignment, fun discussions that is accessible outside of class. I can see how she would be a better professor even in person
Professor Saechao's class was not difficult. However she is not a good teacher. 5 exams, no final, mindtap assignments (very easy) and discussions. Maybe 1 or 2 papers. Put in some effort, and you should be fine, not very hard. Extra credit opportunities are plentiful.
The course is well organized and I learned a lot from her lectures. Some are short, while others are longer. No Mindtap for my section but a diet assignment and a research paper as well as case studies. No accumulative exam.
Saecho assigns work via Canvas and an online book you buy from Cengage. You CANNOT depend on the book to prepare you for the tests. The hour-long lectures she uploads are where you'll get the answers for the test. The organization of the assignments for Canvas is horrible, extra credit is offered and due dates are a week from when first assigned.
Mrs. Saechao was one of my favorite professors during my undergrad! The coursework is really interesting and she does her best to help students succeed. No accumulative exam but you do cover content/chapters and have shorter exams
Overall Professor Saechao is incredible. While yes, she does assign a number of assignments, you can complete them rather quickly. Her lectures are full of content and she takes her exam questions from them too. ExaMs are lecture-based and her discussions are great! I took the class without the Cengage stuff. Check bookstore to check sections
100% online. Watch the lectures, must write notes on lecture because they are on the test. Did not read the book (don't really need). Discussions/assignments were fair and easy if done on time. There are 2 major assignments (Diet and Research) very easy if you start early. Material gets harder as you progress but professor is very reasonable. a+
Professor T. saechao is absolutely amazing; she cares about students, responds to emails within a day if not hours, and is flexible. It is lecture - heavy though. Maybe its better than just reading articles and the textbook. You get to learn from her. Overall, the assignments are interesting and you learna lot. Study sessions for exam are helpful
I be be like, what!!!! i got an A!!!! Woo hooo Thanks Pro Saechao! Off to Sonoma State
Each video lecture is around one hour long. All exams are based on the lectures and no notes allowed. Professor Saechao also has a software to monitor exam cheating. There is no word count requirement for papers or discussions, but if you don't write a large paragraph then you will not get a full mark. Couple extra credit opportunities.
took Professor Saechoa for Nutrition and she was amazing! Her lectures were super interesting and she never got frustrated if we didn't understand a concept. She truly wants you to pass. Make sure to be there on days before an exam because everything from the study guide is on the test and she goes over every topic needed. Good prep for 4 year
If you put in the work and time, you will pass this class. Her rubrics make it very clear what you need to do for assignments to get a high grade. Accessible outside class and expects highly of students. Be prepared to be responsible
Took her last semester. Overall, pretty good. Enjoyed the class discussions. Sometimes there was too much lecture, but there are a few chapters that are much shorter as well. Notes allowed on short answer exam question only, and the last exam
Overall, a manageable class and organizes classwork to give enough time to complete assignments. Took as a prerequisite for nursing. Study guides and study sessions extremely helpful!
Worst DVC prof. I've had so far. Recorded lectures are long & boring. She'll mention something once and expect you to remember everything for the test (but no notes allowed!). You could probably do w/out txtbook if you pay close attention to lectures. If this were in-person, probably wouldn't have been as challenging.
Great professor. Interesting topics. I took this for my personal training certificate. Very knowledgeable about sports nutrition. Great conversations. Don't like that its all online, but have to adjust during covid. Otherwise, lectures are on demand, and gets back to you by email or chat really quick.
Great professor, Gives great feedback. Just be ready to stay on top of every assignment! Willing to help with assignments and accessible after class. I wish they offered a more advanced sports nutrition course. Would definitely take it! Vitamins lecture is long
Heavy lectures but I barely watched them. 90% of lecture material was on tests, other from txtbook (didn't read either). Tests every 2-3 weeks with a final exam. Tests are online, and u can't use notes. Couple writing assignments every week responding to either videos, discussion posts, or articles. 2 big "essay" assignments. some tests on quizlet.
One of the best professors I've taken! Her lectures aresomewhat engaging, she encourages participation and sharing among the students, and makes the course materials super interesting. She brings up a lot of personal examples while teaching and cares more about your learning then your grade.
The course is well organized and I learned a lot from her lectures. Some are short, while others are longer. Major projects were a diet assignment and a research paper as well as case studies. No accumulative exam. Helpful with career counseling and disperses nuturion opportunities for students!
Gives so much busy work, some tests are on quizlet, her lectures are long and boring, textbook isn't needed. She is so sticular about grading, assignments are long and boring. This class was easy but idk it had me stressed when I have 100 other things to do.
Professor is very helpful instructor and cares about students. Always available to help. She always explains the concept clearly and some lectures are short while others are longer. Gives good feedback to improve. Allows peers to help witj rough drafts to get a great final grade!
Good prof! Easy class with a textbook required . Some lectures are long while others are very short . A lot of extra credit opportunities and is willing to help students when needed .
Prof. Saechao is very kind and is good at replying to her students. Every week there are 1-2 lectures which can range from 30 min to 1 hour 30 min. Also she give 5 exams which aren't too difficult if you study. There are also participation assignments which aren't too difficult. If you can manage the exams the rest of the class should be easy
Professor Saechao is knowledgeable. She brought real-life experiences into the class and was engaging. Her grading is fair and gives very valuable feedback. I learned a lot from her. Some of her lectures are long, while others are shorter. I recommend using the study guides and attending the online study sessions. Very resourceful.
Definitely would recommend taking a class with this professor. She presented material effectively and would go in depth of the lectures. Some can be quite long at times. I recommend using the study guides amd attending study sessions for exams. Exams lecture heavy
Took her last semester. Overall, pretty good. Enjoyed the class discussions. Sometimes there was too much lecture. Two main assignments
I am dyslexic and she went out of her way to help me. At times
I've taken 2 of her nutrition classes because she's a great professor. I like her as a person but her courses heavily rely on information from the textbook. She has some long lecture videos and it's hard to take notes because everything seems important. She offers extra credit and usually reachable outside of class.
Professor Saechao is such a sweetheart! She's extremely helpful and understanding + very easy to reach. Her communication skills are amazing compared to some other professors and her workload is fairly manageable as long as you put in the work and get it turned in on time.
Professor is amazing, very helpful assignments' are geared towards your understanding. She actually knows a lot about the field and can answer some fascinating questions to sports nutrition. Some lectures are longer well some are shorter, but I do learn something interesting and one of them. Every assignment is designed to better your understandin
Really enjoyed Prof. S online class. She is VERY organized And very attentive to student questions and is accessible outside of class lectures can be long but when I do have the time to view them, I learned a lot. her exams are lecture-based
Mrs.S is an exceptional professor who I've thoroughly enjoyed spending time with as a nutrition major at DVc. She really cares about her students and their academic development. Active professor who regularly engages with her students and wants them to succeed. The assignments are doable and help you think about your future as a work professional.
Mrs.S is an exceptional professor who I've thoroughly enjoyed spending time with as a nutrition major at DVc. She really cares about her students and their academic development. This was an excellent course, I really enjoyed the content, applying the content and the nearly helpful feedback on posts and assignments makes you want to continue working hard. Would recommend this course to anyone looking to further develop their knowledge in this sports nutrition field. Lecture Heavy but synchronous meetings were awesome
This is a great class to learn all about nutrition and how it happens in the body. She is very passionate about her work and she cares about her students. Every assignment has clear grading criteria, and she also gives lots of extra credit. stay focused and on task with each week and you will complete the semester successfully.
I had the pleasure of taking both Sports Nutrition and Nutrition Applications with Professor Saechao, and I can say she is one great instructor. She is passionate about nutrition, and it showed in the way she taught both courses. I found the sports nutrition course more fascinating! Professor Saechao did take the time to meet with me
I took the synchronous section and the meetings were productive and I actually enjoyed them! Teaches science concepts well and provides helpful study guides for exams.
Online summer course was tough because it was six weeks but the lectures were meaningful to the assignments and exams. Extra credit helped me get an A and is a generous amount. Free textbook and the readings are shorter than most textbooks
Just don't. There is no reason for a NUTRITION class to be this tedious. She wants you to use AI to prove we aren't using AI by submitting our AI scores from things like GPTZero & QuillBot. Her assignments don't feel meaningful. I'm not sure if she thinks she's teaching CHEM OR PHYSICS but its Nutrition and its not that serious. Take anyone else!
I find that the feedback she gives is helpful. Sports med major and I appreciate how she teaches the science. She reviewed most of my assignments prior to submitting. Study guided are helpful but can sometjmes include many questions to covef
Recorded Lectures are usually around 20 mins long- some longer some shorter. Very helpful outside of class and knows her stuff. Assignment every week with exams every two chapters so far. Diet assignment and athlete assignment are the major ones. Start early and het help. Use the AI detectors in her syllabus
For the most part, one of the best professors I have had. I took the fully online course, but I know it would be much more fun in person. She does delve into the science quite a bit, but the topics are very interesting and pertinent to sports nutrition. Online lectures are about 20-25 minutes, great assignments, engaging, quizzes. passionate.
Prof. Saechao is awesome! There is a lot of readings per week but nothing that isn't manageable. There is a lot of science she uses in her lectures because i noticed it aligned with my bio class but it wasn't anything too crazy! She is a tough grader so make sure you are following the rubric almost exactly! Besides that you'll do great!
