Good teacher and very helpful-her lectures are easily understandable and clear.

Good teacher, very clear and understandable.
Best Chem teacher that I have ever had!!!!!

Refused to excuse absences for any reason. All missed work for any reason 0 credit. Unpredictible behavior in class.
She was very organized and made it very clear what was expected, even though she was strict. Very good lecture notes. One thing--we didn't use the book at all during summer session. It was a waste of money.
I would not take chem at RCTC. The chemistry dept. is much more difficult than other colleges.
Upper division; 2127/28 Had her for both semesters for lecture & lab. Tough course. I thought the exams were tough. Lots of assignments; pre/post lab writeups. I was fortunate to get out of their with B's. Only one teaching it; Good Luck
she is a vile woman! she does not seem to care about her students. Seh also seems like she does not want to be in the class teaching. I dislike her!!!
She is a good teacher, but don't ask questions during lecture, she acts like your stupid! Her lectures are very good, you don't want to miss them or else you'll be behind. Didn't use the book at all..waste of money! Tests actually aren't that hard, just read the lecture notes and be able to do the

Teri is a very good teacher. However, you need to earn her respect. Make sure you follow her rules and never show up late or turn in a late assignment! You will learn a lot from her. Tests come right out of lecture and from her assigned review problems.

Teri, is a very good teacher. She can be intimidating, but after you get to know her she is really there to try and help you understand it more. Her tests are fairly easy, just study the notes and look at the objectives!
I thought this class would be very hard, but it ended up being pretty easy. She is a really good teacher, and her tests are actually really easy!
Excellent class. She has printed outlines, power point presentations on-line, quizzes (take home, on-line open book, and lab) that reinforce the information taught. She is also very approachable. Best chemistry class I've had and I have a chemistry minor.
Teri is a very good teacher. She really wants the students to learn the material. She posts lots of information on d2l, as well as study guides. She frequently asks if there are questions during lecture. She makes the material easy to understand.
She is a very good teacher. she may be intimidating but i like her teaching style. it is easier if you do your notes off of D3L before you come to class. it makes learning the material a whole lot easier when you are IN class. if done in this fasion, you can write things done which is NOT in D2L. she tests according to her notes.
Most points come from tests, but she is good because she does do alot of take home stuff which really helps.
If you do the work you will do well. She lays everything out for you. Don't be lazy.
Dr Hill is the BEST teacher for chemistry. She made the subject understandable. As long as you study, you'll do well (as in ANY class). I wish Dr. Hill taught more classes that I have to take.
ROCK ON BABY!
She has a very negative personality and thinks the worst of everyone, but she is a good teacher. She'll take you through lots of examples of everything, but if you still don't get it, ask a bright classmate or look it up in the textbook before you go to her. She can be O.K., and she can be REALLY nasty.
Not the nicest person in the world. Extremely willing to help you; however may not do it in the right "tone." She's all bark, no bite. Show respect and you won't be in hot water. You will feel like you're back in high school as well. She is a crystal clear teacher, so you should learn everything. Stay on her good side, and you'll get that A!
Too easy. Teaches for test rather than for knowledge. Of no help in prep for other courses.
great professor.U might get discouraged if u listen to what students have to say abt her but i'll tell u what?she is awesome.very easy to understand.
At first I thought Teri was negative& mean& regretted taking Chem 1117 with her, but as the semester went on I realized she wasn't as bad as everyone made her out to be. Like someone said earlier, she is all bark no bite. She only wants you to succeed, but if you have any questions& bring it up to her in class she makes you feel stupid. Overall goo
She is very negative. Rolls her eyes at questions. Rude and docks points for ANYTHING she can find. Tests are decent and has a little bit of everything. Notes are good. Lab is okay. Go to the science center for help and to check hw b/c it's due @ beginning of class.
Horrible people skills! She could care less about her students, as long as she's getting paid. The only thing she cares about is her rules and she is very defensive and hard to talk to. Mrs. Hill won't accept any homework that is turned in after the start of class, no matter how hard you worked on the assignment. GET OVER YOURSELF MRS. HILL!!
She has so much points it's ridiculous. To me her class was easy as long as you pay attention and do her chapter reviews before the test.
She is negative, rolls her eyes at questions. Acts as if you should already know material versus you learning about it. ALOT of worksheets, very picky on her grading, grouchy, LOTS of online quizzes so keep up with that. Stick to lect notes instead of book. Fast paced, powerpoint, doesnt involve class in discussion or reiterating.
Dr Hill can be quite moody at times, but I thought she was a good teacher. She gives out a ton of "take home quizzes" aka worksheets, which I thought was helpful as it forces you to study enough to do the worksheet. She was pretty nice if you cracked jokes in class participated in discussions. I would take her again.
Lectures are pretty boring, but helpful and pretty much required if you want to pass the class. There is A LOT of work involved - a lot on D2L it's easy to forget about. Tests are moderate. She's pretty anal about due dates and such. But don't bother buying the text or workbook - you never use them.
ALL IN ALL NOT A BAD TEACHER, I SEE WHERE ALL THE BAD COMMENTS COME FROM BECAUSE SHE CAN BE A LITTLE RUDE AT TIMES BUT AT THE SAME TIME SHE'S PRETTY FUNNY. SHES VERY HELPFUL AND HAS A NUMBER OR RESOURCES TO HELP YOU OUT. JUST ATTEND ALL THE LECTURES AND LAB AND STUDY! READ THE TEXT! THEN IT'LL BE PRETTY EASY.
She puts on a very hard act and comes off pretty Bitchy... Dont be fooled, for the most part its an act! She is a good teacher... everything is very to the point and what she lectures on is very organized which makes it easy to follow. She is a pretty leanient grader for the most part. Come to class and you will do fine.
She is very good teacher, very organized and clear, but her tests are just pain! After you build up your over all grade from the takehome quizes she hands in in class, she gives hard tests and no enough time to keep that grade up. Your grade goes down badely
She comes across as crabby, but is a FANTASTIC Chem teacher. She knows how to explain, keep it relevant and cut out crap you don't need. DO THE TAKE HOME QUIZZES - they will save your hide. She offers plenty of options for points - just Do It. Don't be afraid of her. She's mostly bark, very little bite. She just needs people skills.
Can be rude so don't ask questions in class if you don't want to feel stupid. Offers extra credit which helps A LOT. Lots of easy points to get if you complete everything and show up to lecture and lab. Tests are not bad. Just need to study and know your stuff so you don't spend too much time on a question. She is very clear and easy to understand.
She can be very rude, and often gets moody with her classes. She is however a good teacher, she assigns a lot of worksheets, which are a pain...but are really helpful prior to tests.
THIS IS THE BEST CHEM 1117 INSTRUCTOR.She can be moody at times but very helpful one.I recommend her for any student.
I took Chem 1101 in the summer! BIG mistake! I was able to come out with a B, but I know I could have had an A if it were a regular semester. Teri is a good teacher, but she'll bite your head off if you ask a question! She expects you to know it right away, so plan on studying your tail off! Offers a ton of points, which saved me!
Teri explains chemistry concepts in a way that is easy to understand. She can be difficult to approach for questions sometimes but is helpful if you ask her questions as long as she knows you have made an effort to understand the concept. The worksheets she has for each section are very helpful and similar to problems on the test.
She's not half as bad as ppl think. She'll be your fav Chem Prof, not your best friend. Bring your big-girl panties and a tough hide, ATTEND CLASS, DO THE HOMEWORK, DO THE LAB QUIZZES, and pay a modicum of attention, and you are sure of an A. If you do your part, she is more than happy to help. The ppl that hate her are slackers and whiners!
Good at teaching, but kind of depressing as a teacher. Started a lot of days with long rants about her personal life. Sometimes makes students afraid to ask questions.
She seems to be mad and take it out on students. She seems to not be flexible and kind of a hard ass. I don't know her very well and she seems unapproachable. I wish I would have dropped the class for a happier, more down to earth teacher. Maybe she will be in a better mood overtime. Lets hope so.
I have been attending school with a good overall GPA for two years. I'm NOT a slacker. This is the WORST teacher I have ever had. Tells us we are on our own because she's having a bad day, and texts all through lab. Has an attitude when you ask questions, completely unapproachable. The good reviews were probably her, trying to boost her own score.
Teri is an exceptional teacher; she goes through the lecture outline and explains everything very well. When she's having a bad day or is mad at her previous class you will know! Just lay low and don't be an idiot in the class and you will be perfectly fine. The tests are right out of the lecture outline and the study reviews. Study=you'll be fine.
Teri has a bad attitude and does not help students very much but would rather criticize them in class
This is the worst class ive ever taken in my life! teri hill is extremely rude and almost impossible to work with! she makes it very discouraging to ask questions and mistreats her students! i truly hope you dont take her or you are in for a long semester!
Teri is a really good teacher. She explains things very well. She does have a really poor attitude, but if you ignore that and keep to yourself, you should do perfectly fine.
I learned alot from this course. It was online, but the lectures she puts up are VERY helpful. More so than the book. Listen to lectures and study, you'll do fine. Gets back to emails very quickly.
Dr. Hill is somewhat hard to get along with at first. But she is not there to be a friend, she is there to teach. If you attend class, listen, take notes, do the homework, quizzes you will be fine. If you actually STUDY, its pretty easy to get an "A". Yes, she is not easy to talk to but that's why you go to the science center and ask for help!
She is a straight B word. Dont ask questions, she will make you feel like an idiot. If you need one on one help, she is not the teacher for you. You don't open the book once, she prints out an outline. DONT BUY A BOOK. Never try to fight her, she is always right. (not really)
Do not take a class taught by Mrs. Hill. She is manipulative and harsh. I will never take another of her classes.
She is not very easy to get along with. She is not a teacher to go to for help. She acts like your dumb and don't know anything. She never helps in lab, just sits at her desk, never walks around to make sure students are doing things right. She thinks shes never wrong, but really she is. I would not recommend her to anyone.
I think Teri Hill is a great teacher! She makes things so easy to understand and her worksheets help alot as well. I think alot of people perceive her the wrong way. She seems like she is hard to talk to but I think that its just the way she comes across. Shes hard but AWESOME at teaching! Id take her again!
She is clear from the beginning about what you can expect during the semester. I understand the negative comments here because she does come across very harsh. I've seen her make other students cry and she is not afraid of yelling at the drop of a hat. Be sure to pay attention & work with other students if you have questions.
I thought she was a great teacher. She's tough and her attitude seems to bother some people, but the class is doable if you are willing to work hard. Don't get on her bad side by being disrespectful in class or by not handing homework in. Do the homework/quizzes on time and attend class. You'll be fine. I only used the book for practice problems.
Teri is an excellent teacher. Chemistry is difficult and I never had it high school. She explains things very well. I would consider her tough because she does expect alot out of her students. She puts effort into tutorials and lectures and really dumbs it down so its easy to follow. I would highly recommend her, be prepared to work hard!
She's an awesome teacher. She makes a lot of things available to students like tutorials on d2L. She had some family issues going on during our second class and so some of our lectures were done online. There's a lot of take home quizzes.. but they're easy points. Go to class, take notes, do the work, and study. It's not that hard to pass.
She is very clear about materials talked about in class. She's always willing to clarify, she gives really good examples in class to help you fully understand. The one downfall is that you shouldn't skip classes because she gives "take home quizzes" pretty often.
I didnt like the fact that i got the book for the class & never once opened it. If you go to lecture pay attention, study the tests wont be that hard. I would suggest not missing lecture. Labs are easy points and fun! Teri can come off mean but i found that she was nice and open to helping. Homework is in this class but it is to your benefit!
Don't bother buying the text book. hard class, requires studying outside of lecture.
I enjoyed Teri's class a lot. I understood the material almost all of the time! I also liked how she had note outlines online to print off, it made taking notes easier!
worst teacher I've ever had. She is so mean and unapproachable I will make sure to go out of my way to never take a course with her again. She acts as though her students should already know the material and if you have a question don't bother asking she will scream the right one at you and not explain why.
A lot of take home quiz's. I was having a hard time with some of the tests. She also gives out a pop quiz in class on a basis, so make sure you study the material fairly well. One thing that I did like was that she always gave us a heads up about whats going to be on the test, which was nice because then we had an idea of what to study for the test
I don't have much of an interest in chemistry, but Teri Hill taught it so well I seriously considered taking another chemistry class just to have her again. I have no idea why other posters call her mean and unapproachable because I got the very opposite from her. Thoroughly answered every question I brought to her. In email and in person.
Took Summer Chem class. It was a lot of work in a short time. Course was so well organized and laid out you knew exactly what was expected. Teri was an amazing teacher.
I think I'd rather take a class from Hitler. He might actually be a nicer person. Avoid this "thing" at all costs. No point in hating your life for a worthless chem class.
Dr. Hill really gets a bad wrap but I liked her class a lot! She gives lots of pop quizes, but it is on material that she tells you to be prepared for. Her tests arent that bad if you study the right the material. As for her personality, she has a dry sense of humor but dont let it intimidate you. She expects you to come to class and labs prepared.
Terri is straight to the point. You know what you need to study, and what you need to turn in. If you study the printed text she gives you and take her notes tests are easy. If you do as she says, you'll get a good grade.
Teacher is NOT interactive with the online class. Directions on material sometimes outdated. Gives the exam grade only, cannot see what questions were wrong. Some exam questions were not in lecture/book & she stresses not to google answers. Homework intensive, don't even use the book. Stressful class.
Great professor! Gives lots of take home tests, but they are simple, and very very easy if you keep up with the lecture. Professor has a weird sense of humor, but it becomes funnier as the semester goes on. Make sure you ask questions!!!!!! She takes the time to really explain your questions!
Teri Hill is an okay professor. She has a dry sense of humor and can be intimidating, but in all honesty she sets you up well to do well on the exams. Expect lots of pop quizzes and homework, but really all of that work makes it so you never have to study for the lecture exams. Being there is mandatory, but overall shes a good professor.
She's not too bad, if you are willing to put time in she will help you! Chem isn't easy but with her homeworks and quizzes you'll do fine.
I am currently in Ms. Hill's class, wish I would have known about this site in advance, because the negative feedback is 100% accurate. She is moody, gets upset and yells & turns off the overhead if people aren't answering her questions (which is like spit-fire). She is unapproachable & when you ask questions she talks to you as if you are a bother
Shes so nice, you just have to show up and do the work.
Professor Hill is a tough grader and there are several assignments, however, she had always responded to my emails and has been more than fair. She expects quality work. If you don't want to work for it, don't take her classes. Earning an A is a privilege not a right.
Prof. Hill is a horrible instructor. She just reads what is in the power point and doesn't explain anything, if you ask a question she just gets mad and snaps at you, she doesn't give you any help when you ask for it. Honestly I don't think she cares if students pass or fail her courses she's really just there to get a check.
Teri was a great teacher. She does give a lot of pop quizzes but it helps you learn. She has an note outline for class that really helps with studying. She also made tutorial videos for extra help. I learned alot from her.
The lectures themselves are dull and much could be gained from doing homework in class and copying the slides into your notes. Busy work is given and Prof. Hill cares more for doing things her way than the correct way. Take this class with someone else because there is a toxic power dynamic in every sentence she emails or says to a student.
Teri is such a great Professor! I never had any issues with her and she was always so funny in class. I never had to read the textbook, because she explained so well in lecture. Labs were really fun and she was always so kind. There were pop quizzes so make sure you get familiar with the elements. You will not want to miss a lecture or lab!!!
Teri lets just say was not my favorite, she does not care about her students she makes class harder than it needs to be she does not listen to students she does not care about you succeeding expect lots of quizzes and assignments that she will not grade on time won't accept late assignments she is a tough grader overall not a considerate person
I have no words when it comes to care less Teri here. She cares about non of her students. She Is rude and does nothing when you need help. She loves when her students struggle because if she cared she would prioritize. I have cried countless times. Teachers please do a better job caring for students. The suicide rate in college has grown 15%
Honestly, Teri Hill is NOT as bad as people try to portray her to be. She gives 1 pg of hw at LEAST every other day. And she DOES have pop quizzes, BUT she usually warns you about what they're gonna be on days ahead so you can study (and it's nothing hard!) And it helps! She may come off a bit mean and tough, but she doesn't want to seem that way.
I loved her! Yes, she may come off a bit hostile through emails and whenever you try to ask her questions. However, she let us know at the very start of it that she was aware of how the students felt and wanted to let us know she loved it when we asked questions, it was just how she talks. So please be nice and patient with her if you take her!
You can tell Professor Hill has put a lot of time into her lectures, tutorials, and class material and it definitely helps. One thing to consider is if you take this class online is that the labs can be difficult at home and take much longer then they would on campus since you do not have a lab partner or instructor to answer questions right away.
Great teacher. Put out so much content to help learn (tutorials) and is very organized. Has a very clear list of assignment, worksheets, and lectures to watch each week. And on top of that makes weekly update videos just make sure you are on track. Made chem tolerable. A real gem.
Her exams are FAIR. No question about that. If you watch the lectures, complete the tutorials, and take the time to practice the questions from the slides, you will be more than prepared. The labs are rather tedious for their small point value. She does, however, give you many opportunities to earn points. Study up. This is chemistry after all.
Unempathetic and unreasonable.
Past bad reviews are 100% correct. VERY UNREASONABLE. She always posts homework at 1AM and never listen to students at all. Always bashes them and makes everyone hate her.
Absolute worst.
Dont take her
Starts out the semester on a test on syllabus rules. Thats the first red flag. Takes points away if you dont turn in stuff the way she wants it exactly to be.
Terrible
Never again!!!
When I say hilarious I mean a joke.
Takes away points for the smallest reasons
Not worth the stress and money
I had Teri Hill online and face to face. great professor where you actually learn if you do the homework, take good notes, and listen in lectures. Just do the work and study, and youll be fine. Never read a textbook, her lectures cover everything. If u struggle with the hw the lady in the science learning center on 3rd floor will help you.
Not sure where all the bad reviews are coming from. I really enjoyed Teri. She was kind and very helpful. Responds to emails fast (even on weekends). WATCH HER WEEKLY UPDATES online!! She gives clues 4 the week. Is very straight forward w/ her expectations. Watch the weekly/lab/lecture videos, take good notes, and you should do just fine!
Get ready for a lot of busy work. Very paranoid about cheating. Lots of points, assignments, quizzes, etc that seemed unnecessary BUT if you do the work and spend the time, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to do well. She is accessible and responsive. Extra credit opportunities abound. She does make it easy understand though.
I took Teri for both of my chem classes, and she's truly wonderful. Responds to emails very fast, makes weekly update videos 2 go over the weeks work & gives quiz hints. Exams R open notes. Lots of xtra credit. Goes above & beyond help students succeed & is always there to help and answer Q's. Not sure where bad reviews came from. Shes the best!
Can ask questions about anything except exams. Many times I would do the quiz online/paper email her what I should correct. She wont just give you the answer tho. Will meet outside of office hours, answer emails over the weekend. Lots of bonus points and worse score per category dropped. Reminders on Mondays for missing work. Theres grace periods.
Class was very organized it may just be repeating a lot. Class was fairly easy and I am taking the Organic chemistry was her as well!
Once you start getting into the rhythm of how this class goes, you will have no problem passing it. Very heavy on homework, but as long as you study, you'll be able to complete it easily.
If you are taking this online, breathe easy! It's intimidating, sure, but you just need to read everything and STUDY! The most challenging aspect was the exams. They are webcam exams with lockdown browser and you only get 1 HR to answer around 60 Q's- Take good notes. Finish all your labs with the photos. She wants you to succeed- you'll do fine.
Dr. Hill is extremely knowledgable and supportive. I HIGHLY recommend getting her class workbook (idk how you could do that class without it). There is a LOT of work, but it's all pertinent and gets you extra points to help with your grade so the exams aren't quite as "heavy" in the grade book. I would definitely take her class again!
UNREASONABLE heavy on the work. Labs are extremely extremely LONG. Takes days to do the math, cannot move on and come back. I don't know how someone who works full time like myself can get 10 quizzes, 3 labs,9 lectures, 3 modules an exam done in a week! If she's going to be this particular, don't give us 10 pages of math work in only ONE LAB.
I really liked how she taught her lectures and had you follow along with the green study guide you have to buy. She doesn't sound monotone like some other professors do. This class was hard though since it was only a 6-week summer course so there was a lot due each week.
DO GOOD ON FIRST 2 TESTS!!homework takes up 50%, exams are only about 35%, you are able to have 2 attempts on all hw, lockdown browser, responds to emails and sends reminders if you are missing something BEFORE deadline which was helpful. course is laid out well, towards to end i just used the slideshow with her lectures instead of watching it
Very time-consuming course with many quizzes, labs, and long but essential lectures. Dr. Hill's fill-in-the-blank outlines and step-by-step teaching are key to success. Don't fall behind—especially if you work full time. It's manageable if you put in the effort. She's accessible and responds quickly. This course isn't hard unless you make it hard.
