Does not give you grades back. Assigns too much homework for a 3 credit class. about 40 pages of reading per class. makes you revise tests and papers. you won't know your grade, even if you ask. I wouldn't take her again. Uses blackboard for everything. (except grades of course). Not a lot of useful discussion in class. Expects perfect writing.
Keeps grades the old fashioned way, so she only calculated your grade 2-3x the entire semester. Lots of homework and reading. Though, she was understanding at times and she gives two homework passes which allows you to turn in something up to one week late.
The humanities class I'm taking with Moser is an absolute joke. She always spends the first half of class, if not more, talking about pointless handouts. Today she literally talked about turnitin.com for 45 minutes(we counted), while giving us absolutely no information about the several projects we are working on, which is very typical for her.
She spends way too much time talking about class procedures rather than the material you pay for with tuition. Expects perfect writing with an "all-or-nothing" mindset. The first semester I had her, she accused half the class of plagiarism like it was a routine step in our papers and we had to revise them. Adopts a "rules are rules" point of view.
I was a presidential scholar, and i thought this would be an easy way to gain some GPA and gain knowledge of other cultures. After the 3rd class period, i could see that i was so wrong. If anything is learned in this class, its how to check a paper 400 times for plagiarism and turnitin.com. once, she spent the whole period talking about HW excuses.
I really don't have anything else to say. Everyone else here has made their point clear. She is a very irritating and bad teacher. Nice when you deal with her outside of class but very ridiculous when it comes to her precious class time.
I agree with the other comments. One good part of the class was field trips. You do so much work and I do not think she grades fair.
I have taken Moser for ENG102 HUM250 as well. I agree she can ramble, but I learned so much from her on how to create an A research paper. Students that are used to high school level work will not like her college level class. This is college you must learn to do college level papers.
Doesn't make sense. assigns a lot of homework. Because of this class and teacher being so hard, now I want to drop out of the honors program. It is not worth all of the work. This class and teacher were boring except when we went on our field trips and outside the classroom. Only take this class and teacher if you are really passionate about art.
I'm an English major. I am usually excited about taking English classes. This has been the worst class I have ever taken, including my math classes. She has no focus in class, yet, when she assigns a paper, it has to be very precise. Boring and demanding at the same time. I have learned nothing. It's been a complete waste of time and money.
I have not finished her class yet, but she has made a very bad impression on me (it's only halfway through the semester, and I'm on here rating her.) She is very inconsistent and vague in her directions for her assignments. The feedback on papers is hard to read and understand. She is spacey, very forgetful, and not detail oriented. Don't take her!
This is the worst instructor I have ever seen. She is not understanding of anyones circumstances, takes a TON of points off for mal attendance and punctuality. And her clarity level of assignments given is sparse to say the least. You can't read her writing, She is an mla freak and expects everyone to be perfect. SHE IS HORRIBLE DONT TAKE HER CLASS
Yeah, lost a lot of points on attendance without knowing it. But overall, she's a good person. Her directions are a little too in depth at times. The Heard Museum trip is among a couple cool assignments. After having a few NIGHTMARE teachers at CGCC, I can say that she's actually pretty decent. She deserves a better rating IMO.
Avoid this instructor at all costs. Unclear, unpleasant, and annoying. Most unorganized course I've taken in college. She has 3 projects going on at once all in different time periods, made no sense. She accuses of plagiarism, and the readings are due every class and are close to 90 pages of reading. AVOID!
For all of you first time Presidentail scholarship students. Good luck! This class was boring and she is really unclear. She expects a high level from her first time college students its ridiculous. She seriously feels it is her job to weed out those unworthy of the scholarship. I have seriously learned nothing from this class. good luck...
She assigns a lot of easy, long, boring assignments. The only thing that makes it difficult is just reading all the material. The assignments are really easy, but since there are so many of them, it makes the class difficult. It's a lot like junior high.
She is the most unpredictable teacher ever. A lot of assignments that don't have relevence to what we're studying and never get tested over. She is a nice person, but not a good teacher. (Just a side note, you can get an earlier edition of the book for way cheaper online. The bookstore is a rip-off.) If you do every assignment you'll do well though
This class is a heavy work load and she is a terrible teacher. She makes you teach yourself yet expects perfect papers. She has many different projects on different topics all at once and isn't clear about any of them. As an honors scholarship student i wouldn't recommend her. Nice person just a HORRIBLE teacher. late passes are a trap!
The class was fairly easy, but a lot of the time was spent guessing at what she wanted you to do. She was not very clear on directions, but would tell you after the fact that you did it incorrectly. There are a lot of essays and analysis.
Awful. Only met once a week and didn't learn a thing. She graded things wrong for no reason and never made any sense and was actually kind of rude sometimes
Dr. Moser isn't the best teacher and her class was very boring. There is a lot of busy work and tedious papers but if you complete them all you should do fine in the class. She is a nice person outside of class.
I am taking time out of my day to convey how terrible class was. The information and content of the class was interesting, but every second of class was boring and the busy work was never ending.
Worst Teacher I've Ever Had.
Worst teacher ever. I don't think I've had more distaste for another human being in my entire college time. I didn't gain a single thing in my time with her. I feel like she doomed my future as an English major. It's a mystery to me how she still has a job.
Horrible. Avoid at all costs. Had Southwest Literature.
I do not recommend at all. Unnecessary tedious work and papers, and she is a harsh grader. Avoid, unless you want to be spending literally all your time on one class.
I have never been so stressed from anything my entire life until having Dr. Moser for English 242. She runs out of time and then gives you everything she couldn't get done at the last three weeks if class. Do not take her class, I promise you will regret it if you do.
She is such a picky professor. She doesn't explain assignments correctly. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES. SO MANY STUDENTS DROP HER CLASSES.
I really enjoyed this class when it began, but the busy work is never ending. I spend more time on this class than all of my others combined. The reading is generally boring and we never even read anything published after 1930. In class she is very friendly, but whenever you email her to clarify her confusing assignments she get an attitude.
I took 2 different course from Dr. Moser at CGCC and the poeople complaining about her are just slackers. Moser's classes are easy and fun and she is always laughing or smiling. You show up, participate, and turn your things in on time and you'll get an A. She can have a heavy course load filled with readingsreflectionsessays but she's not hard.
Dr. Teri Moser fails to consider students have homework for other courses, and have jobs. This makes the work load overwhelming. She is a very picky grader. All she does in class is lecture, sometimes things she discusses are not even relevant. If you miss class, you are not allowed to make up any of the things that you missed
I STRUGGLED w this class. So subject to perceptions & subjectivity. I was getting by but I wasn't fully absorbing what she was trying to show me. I needed to go in and TALK to her and that's what changed everything. She by no means gave me any answers but she showed me her self. And her passion became my inspiration to dig deeper and push myself.
Very unorganized. Assigns your work last minute, so all the due dates fall on one day. Assignments are unclear and mostly busy work. Curriculum is boring and hard to connect. She grades harshly even though her directions are very vague. Would never take her again, had to try really hard not to drop. Do not take any of her classes.
Extremely long writing assignments worth very few points. Keeps assignments "locked" so you have no way of knowing what faces you until the last minute. Extremely critical when grading yet directions are unclear the majority of the time. Condescending when asked for help if she feels you "should" already "know". ENG 102 online
This is my second class having this teacher. She's consistent. I expect long assignments that I cannot cram into one night. (Unfortunately) And I expect her to check on me when I am struggling. She is in tune with my personal life and pays attention to the issues I bring to her attention and follows up with me later.
Dr. Moser's rating here may not be stellar, but she's not really so bad. She is somewhat unorganized, and the papers are a lot of work, but as long as you put a significant amount of effort behind everything, you'll be fine. Just don't expect it to be easy! You do learn a lot if you put the time and effort required into it.
Whatever you do NEVER take a class by professor Moser. She never explains assignments and won't tell you about any new ones until they are almost due. ALWAYS Unprepared for class. Extreme waste of time and you learn nothing. I am a very avid student and love school but this class is horrible. Save yourself time, money, and stress don't take her.
Group projects are a huge annoyance and at least half of the class is comprised of them. Written assignments are unclear and she is strict on grading them - but not with grammar, creativity, or apparent effort. Rather, she grades on how well you followed her excessive, yet convoluted instructions. Also has trouble staying on topic during lecture.
Never take a class with this teacher if you want to learn something or want to have assignments that are easy to understand. In the whole semester I never learned a thing in her lecture rather the only thing that was talked about in each class was what the next class was going to be about. Grading makes no sense most of the time.
Took this class expecting to be able to focus on my more major-centered classes while taking humanities to get it out of the way. This class is difficult and the professor is demanding. Field trips in your free time are required and attendance is mandatory. She makes the course more difficult than it has to be
I'm currently taking this class and it' horrible. She always comes to class uprepared and doesn't even talk about what we're supposed to be learning. She very rarely is on topic and it's really hard for honors kids to maintain a decent grade. She tells us about assignments that are due literally out of nowhere. Her teaching style is a mess!!
I am currently taking this class. It definitely is not my favorite, however I am trying my best to be optimistic. I can agree with almost everything being said about this professor which is unfortunately not very good at all. Honestly I hope the feedback will help her teaching skills flourish rather than continue to go on negatively. Best wishes!
English has always been a subject I have thrived in, until I took it with Teri Moser, the worst professor I have ever had. She assigns ridiculous load of work every week; she seemingly forgets we have other classes/lives outside of her class. She is very rude, gives unclear directions, and does not care about her students.
Rudest teacher I have ever met. Stay away!
Could go on and on about this teacher. Learned nothing from the class, she grades WAY too hard, doesn't explain anything, doesn't come prepared, assigns way too much homework, and so much more. She also waited until the last minute to put our grades in. The class was just plain confusing, I don't recommend her class by any means!
This class was half online and half in class. A lot of online homework with the online book. Grading is very difficult and precise. Points are deducted easily. Must complete assignments on time, or your grade will fall. Takes a lot of work to pass class, but it is possible.
Awful class. Nothing is clear. I never knew about the assignments that were due until like 2 days before. There were 2-5 assignments due per class as homework. Insane workload with no clear description of what it is you're supposed to do. We spent more time in class talking about assignments then actually learning anything. Her grading is unclear.
THE TWO DUE DATES THAT ARE THREE DATES APART THERE IS ALWAYS A MAJOR ASSIGNMENT THAT OVERWHELMS YOUR OTHER CLASSES. YOU ARE FORCED TO PICK FROM 6 SUBPAR DOCUMENTARIES AND YOU DO NOT SWITCH SUBJECTS THE REMAINDER OF THE SEMESTER SO MAKE SURE YOU PICK A GOOD FILM BECAUSE YOU WILL NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT IT.
She's a chill teacher. Her instructions aren't clear all the time. Just ask and she'll keep answering until you get it. It's an English class, of course you're going to write papers. Make sure you revise the papers before turning in the final draft. Just pay attention in class and if you're confused just do the work. You'll do fine.
This professor is absolutely terrible. She has no sympathy, no care, and no respect for her students. She is unclear with her assignments and due dates, doesn't tell you her expectations for major projects, and then marks YOU off when she never stated what SHE wanted for the class. Moser makes spelling and grammar mistakes on EVERYTHING. Terrible.
Not very clear about assignment guidelines or instructions. Sometimes I would do way too much or way too little on projects, but there's a lot of assignments throughout the semester, so messing up never hurt my grade too much. She talks a lot in class, but clearly loves the topic.
Currently taking this class, and seriously considering withdrawing. Dr. Moser has her students sign a contract stating they will NEVER be late or absent and allowing her to take a picture of you. She also asks for your employer information and student ID number. Her syllabus also states you can not leave class for any reason. Run for the hills!
Assigns many reading assignments on top of essays and projects. Assignments are not brought to your attention until days before its due. Theres no clear instructions to anything & no set grading rubric. Moser doesnt keep up to date on grades. When grading, she primarily focuses on the format of the paper rather than the actual written content.
Ridiculous grader as well as gives a ton of meaningless time consuming assignments on top of big essays. Took english 102 online with her and it was the hardest thing of my life. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Moser has been horrible this year. She gave me a 5/20 on an assignment that she said I did correctly. We have to do so much stuff outside of class that its ridiculous. Having to attend mandatory events that I have to drive myself to is annoying. Bad Professor and I would recommend not to take any of her classes
teri is by far the worst professor i have had at cgcc. she doesnt know what shes talking about half the time and struggles to answer simple questions about her own assignments. she is very rude and the class itself is a lot of work, i took her for eng200 and enh242 and i regret it every single day. please take a different prof, anything is better
This teacher sucks so bad even during this Covid-19 pandemic she did not let up. The amount of work required for this class was unjust, seriously home work is worth like 15 points but requires like 3-4 hours almost daily completely absurd for a class where we don't even learn anything. If you have her ever drop the class immediately.
AWFUL , do not take a class with her. The workload is way to much, and her assignments are so unclear! I have tried to email her about issues I have and it all ends up being my fault!
Her modules are clearly posted online but sometimes the assignments arent clear or are poorly communicated. Then she would proceed to say I and over half the class just didnt read the assignment thoroughly. Ok? Yeah sure. You email her for help and she is rude and unsympathetic- making you feel like a nuisance. NO sympathy during COVID at ALL.
This class is good if you want to cover an insane amount of topics. Workload is intense and often conflicts with other classes. Assignments almost every other day & she is not a light grader. Her instructions are never clear and even if they are- you WILL have something wrong with your work. Save yourself the stress and pick a different teacher.
Professor Moser is a very talented instructor, there is no doubt that she love her subject and like to listen you opinions about the essay. But in the other way, this class has an abundance of reading materials and projects that need you to read and analyze a lot. I learned a lot from her class, she love to guide our essay in a constructive way!
She was by far the worse teacher/Professor that I have ever had, and it's not even close. She asks ridiculous things and thinks that her class is the only class you take. Whatever you do, do not take her class, she will ruin your semester.
I have always loved and thrived in English all the time. But once I tried taking this class I could not keep up. She thinks that her class is the only class you take and you have no other life besides typing up essays EVERY WEEK. Shes a heavy grader and dose not give out extra credit. her life happens passes do not apply to anything. DONT TAKE HER.
This professor is a very tough grader. She gives assignments that take hours to complete, but are only worth 15-20 points. Her exams are very tough and all open ended questions. I enjoy literature, but this class was just too much.
This class with Moser was the worst experience I have ever had with a teacher of any kind. She gives a ton of work, makes you feel stupid when you ask questions, thinks that her class is the only class that you take, gives awful instruction, etc. If you are thinking of taking this class, or taking her as a professor, don't! She made this year awful
Due to Covid19, this class was completely online. Dr. Teri Moser was an amazing professor. Every assignment had clear instructions and was graded quickly. I would also like to add that she responds quickly to any questions you may have. You can tell she enjoys the subject she is teaching and that made Webex meetings more enjoyable.
This class was tough. Moser is very specific about what she's looking for in her assignments, so pay close attention. Lots of writing, mainly discussion board assignments because the class was online. The midterm and final exam were difficult, lots of essay questions and not enough time to complete it all. I had to work really hard for my grade.
Do not take this class unless you are passionate or interested in the topics. Her classes are never helpful to the many assignments and they are mandatory to attend. She requires you to go on multiple field trips as if we do not have work and other classes to keep up with. No matter how much you put into your work there will be something wrong.
I would not recommend this professor. She does not really go over material, the class was hybrid but we did not learn anything in class. She would spend the whole class hour just talking about one painting and not really going over any of the material. Had to basically teach myself by reading the book in revel for all the assignments.
She is such a tough grader and has no sympathy if you are unable to attend class. She hands out random sheets on the chapter in class and then grades you on it without you even realizing your getting graded on it. Does not allow late work or re doing work.
I've never taken a more pretentious class... I started this course with a zest for the arts, & I left a shell of a man. Her "life happens" passes practically don't qualify for any of the coursework. Exams take way longer than the time she gives you. She's the toughest grader I've ever had. Take this course with caution...
Professor Moser was not my favorite. Average reading about 6 chapters a week followed up with at least 5 quizzes and 1 test. Weekly discussion boards were bland and graded strictly. Midterm and final exam were HARD. Not a bad teacher, just very strict.
Expects all students to revel in her awe & admiration for Humanities. Finish line was continuously moved back as she found ways to make assignments more intricate. She assigned a 7-page guideline to a MINI research paper, that was only worth 50 pts. THEN, had to respond to EVERY PEER with more than 3-4 sentences (praise not included in the count).
OMG this professor is wild. For every discussion question and/or assignment, there was 2 pages of directions. These were things worth only 5-20 points too. There were so many rules & guidelines for each assignment, it was difficult to keep track AND she's a tough grader. She would randomly change due dates for things. pro: She was nice via email
Horribly convoluted and complicated directions on the discussion board assignments. Extremely tough grader, one of those professors that think they're a university professor so take it out on the students. I received more work from this class than my other two in the semester combined.
Do not recommend this professor. Makes you feel dumb when you ask a question. Way too many instructions that makes you loose the point of the assignment. HARD exams that you have to download lockdown browsers for. You need at least 2-3 hours to complete EACH assignment. Discuss board are very difficult as well. Not a fun class.
Overall, this professor did not create a functioning learning environment. She had strict instructions for assignments and sometimes was not very clear about those requirements on the rubric. Lots of assignments that take forever to complete, just for her to take weeks to grade. Was very difficult to deal with if absent and made no effort to help.
Avoid this class unless you are searching for stress and irritability. Honors project was so hard and not explained well. She will grade everything extremely tough and give harsh feedback. She is extremely educated in the field but this turns into long boring lectures. Crucial to make deadlines and turn everything in and they take 2+ hours.
She was the worst teacher I have ever had. Did not make it clear when things needed to be done, and her Canvas site was a mess. She made us read EXTREMELY sexually explicit books. All of the books were also about feminism and they were all matriarchal books. The actual title for this class is "Multicultural Southwestern Lit."
Big yapper, good if you need to sleep
If you enjoy reading and getting negative feedback on every assignment she is the professor for you. I though the reading was a bit much, some weeks we were assigned 150+ pages to read. The assignments were a bit much some taking 5+ hours to finish. The tests will not match the study guide and the feedback given on assignments was quite rude.
You will have a very hard time knowing how to do assignments because she doesn't instruct you how do to them. Instead, she spends the entire period reiterating every single word from the textbook with monotone voice and has you watch videos that have little to no relevance to your assignments. Be prepared to waste an hour of your time.
Terrible an explaining what you are supposed to be doing. None of the videos or assignments are relevant to what you're "learning". Surprisingly a lot of writing which she grades you very hard on for the class being a humanities course. Yaps and yaps and yaps about nothing important.
assigns so much homework every week that will take so much more time and hours than any other class. also assigns homework with very overcomplicated instructions that make it more difficult to read than if she simplified it. for tests, she grades as if we should know as much as her which tbh is crazy because she clearly knows more than most.
This is probably the worst professor i've ever had. Does not work with you at all when things happen, doesn't care about you and thinks her class is of the upmost importance when it is merely a humanities class people are taking for elective.
If you have a job, life, or any other classes.. don't recommend. Takes a lot of effort and time from meaningless busy work.
I would say this class was challenging, and sometimes, when she graded it, it seemed that she just tended to take points off whenever she wanted. It seemed unjustified and it always came out of no where. Furthermore, we as a class took one test and were utterly unprepared for it. Btw, half the class failed that test.
Teri Moser has been vague with her assignment instructions and comments on my assignments. Instructions were wordy, where it's difficult for me to comprehend the assignments. I followed every single handouts from this class, but got marks off for "missing subjects or points of the questions" when I clearly did. Would not recommend taking her class.
Unfortunately Dr. Moser's class is incredibly disorganized on Canvas and in person. She lacks proper communication and waits months to give feedback until the last minute. Instructions are unclear and difficult to understand. She also does not even lecture. Beware
I neglected to use RMP for Moser, and I regret it. Moser has one of the most frustratingly constructed courses I've ever seen. Assignments have inconsistent due dates and often had wildly overcomplicated instructions, and is quite passive-aggressive in feedback. Does not provide opportunities to expand upon what you've learned besides memorization.
This teacher was consistently difficult. In every note or response, she was passive-aggressive at best and straight-up aggressive at worst. Her due dates and times were inconsistent because she seems to get personally offended by not doing work early. Please don't take this class unless you absolutely have to.
I feel bad cause to me she seems like a nice lady but just not a good teacher. Nonexistent communication skills. I spent more time on work from this class than most my other classes combined. She also was an English teacher and grades written work 10x harder than my actual English teacher. Makes an elective class feel like a full time job.
