GREAT PROFESSOR. EXTREMALY HELPFUL AND CLEAR. IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND ACCOUNTING FROM INSIDE - TAKE HER, DEFINATELY. SHE IS THE BEST ACCOUNTING TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD.
She is very helpful and explains the material clearly. She lectures straight off of the slides but is still interesting. Her exams are very difficult, but she does curve.
Good Teacher. Very Nice. Cares about her students. She gives lots of practice exams to review, which helps on the tests.
Best accounting teacher. Explains the material really well. Very nice.
Was my favorite teacher. Made the material easy to understand. Only problem was she went on maternity leave halfway through and we were left with G. Carpenter who is the worst teacher. I highly recommend her. Just follow along in class, do the hw and skim through the book for definitions and you will do fine.
Actually looked forward to this class. Great professor, she went over material pretty quickly but she always made sure everyone understood the lessons and worked out every single problem on the board so we could see how they are worked out from start to finish. Would definitely recommend her.
She does an amazing job teaching the material. Of Course the class is pretty detailed and there is a lot to cover. She teaches very well, but you will work hard for your grade. gives u old exam to prepare your for the exam.
I am an Accounting major and Prof. McGhee has been one of the best professors I have had. She covers the material completely and quickly. She is very open to questions and answers them very thoroughly. Her tests are not easy but she gives you lots of material to review. I highly recommend her.
OMG She's an angel! I fall in love with Acct because of this lady. Compared to Carpenter or Repsis, she is way better! I really enjoyed her lectures and the way she explains concepts are awesome! Easygoing and very helpful....would do any thing to help you out! Love her and would take all Acct classes she teaches!
Mediocre accounting professor. Lots of data, and no real direction. Lectures are presented with the shot-gun approach: everything is hastily thrown at you at once, randomly, with little direction. Study every single past exam, and every question in the book, and every problem given in class, and you will barely make a B. Terrible if you work.
Great Professor! but all the comments below are true, she teaches quick, so don't go in to class expecting to text or talk to your friends, because you have to pay attention to her at all times. I made a C+ on the first test B on the second test and B+ on the third test and did poorly on the final. STUDY STUDY STUDY!
There isn't another ACCT 3312 professor better than McGhee at UTA. Study her practice exams thoroughly. If you don't grasp the concepts/computations early, you'll be in trouble for the final. This class requires a lot of time to study outside of class because of the quantity of the material.
This class is very very hard. I do not know why students rate this Professor with a high rating. For one to pass this class, one must go to tutoring on a daily basis, even on the weekends.
Not an easy class but she is the best professor to take. Go to class and bring chapter handouts! Study a lot before each test and actually read the book.
The class is fast-paced due to the amount of material that needs to be covered before the final. McGee is thorough, clear, and has patience. She is very knowledgeable in accounting and gives real-world examples related to the principles. I hope to take future classes with her. Must study and do homework to make a passing grade. Take this teacher
Take professor McGhee!!! No accounting class is going to be easy so some of these reviews are correct, but you are best off with her. She strives to help her students and has a good teaching method. There is no extra credit because here students don't need curves.
She is the best accounting prof I have had. If you want an a, going to class and taking notes is not enough. Must read the chapters and be able to do all practice problemsexams without referring to notes. Extremely helpful, go to her office with questions. She wants you to succeed, but you have to put in the time on your own if you want an a.
I cannot say enough good things about this professor. She is clear and her tests are over what is covered in class, nothing more. I took her for 2301 too and she gave me a solid foundation to be able to kick butt in this class! Group project and comprehensive final. Easy A if you go to class, take notes, read, and ask questions! Would take again!
REALLY HARD CLASS! I took it on peoples review, but she was nothing like people were saying. She is going under a new way of teaching. Good luck to those who take her.
I took this class as a Maymester and i LOVED IT! first Maymester class and i was not disappointed. The class is very simple and the group project is very educational. I would deferentially take her class again. You don't really need the book. Just take notes and don't miss ANY lecture time and you will pass. Great professor!
Mrs. McGhee is very patient and has a good teaching methods. Her exams are moderately difficult but very doable if you just study what she tells you too. She definitely helped me kick butt on the final. Very sweet lady and always willing to help you and responds to emails immediately. Would recommend!
The class overall was pretty hard not going to lie. She's an awesome lecturer she does know her stuff and don't be afraid to ask her questions. She's really nice. Has 3 exams I believe and the final is comprehensive which is the hardest thing. But keep up with your homework and go to class but she does upload the class notes online.
Awesome instructor! she explains things very clear and takes the time to make sure you really understand the material. Four exams and a comprehensive final, weekly quizzes and home works due on the day of the exam. Do the homework and show up to class and you'll be fine.
I wish i can go back so i will never take her class. Her class is nothing interesting, she just read the slide, no review, no extra credit, her test is hard as hell. The final is comprehensive and i wish i can pass with C. DONT TAKE HER
Four Exams, final is cumulative. I am an accounting major, and these exams are tough. No curve or extra points, she just reads though PPT. Class average for 2nd exam was around 60%, but still no curve. I would not take her. I studied super hard for these exams, and still managed to get only a C.
She is a nice professor, but teaches way too fast. She read through power-points & did class examples. Doesn't review for exams and the exams were very difficult compared to the homework and pre quizzes.
Teaches off powerpoints, just repeating word by word of the screen. Test are very difficult( no reviews given), so read, read read the entire chapters you are assigned. Study hard to get that B or even C,
You have to choose her for 3311 since she's the only one available basically. If you don't do well on your first 2 exams I recommend you drop the class while you have the chance. Don't risk it hoping for a good grade, because it's definitely not worth the time and effort. Not to mention constant stress since u basically have 4 grades to juggle with
Tough class! However, it's not the professor. It's just a lot of difficult material to learn, so you have to be very disciplined in how you study. McGhee is nice, open to questions and available during office hours. I just barely got my A, but I worked harder than I've ever had to work before to get it. Read & work problems before class.
I had to drop this class because I did so bad in the first tests. She definitely knows what she's talking about. I was completely lost during her lectures because she went too fast and didn't explain herself well. She didn't review for the test and our class problems had nothing to do with the test. She also said she never curves (crazy)!!
Very boring lectures straight from a ppt, but she does a good job going through problems and explaining them. This class itself is rather hard due to the sheer amount of material that needs to be covered. You definitely need to study lecture notes and the book for this class, as there is no review. There was minimal curving and no room for error.
Ms. Mcghee came from working as an accountant in the real world and really knows her stuff. She was very helpful and accessible outside of class, both through email and in person. It is accounting, so it takes a lot of work, but having taken accounting from other professors as well, I can attest that she knows the material and explains it well.
Her class is hard! Be prepared to study, read, and teach yourself a lot of the material. The exams are much harder than the practice problems. She varies between more conceptual or more computational questions on the exams. She does not curve, give extra credit, or reviews before the exams. Good luck!
Good professor, she does a really good job going through and explaining the material. She also works out hw problems in class and does a good job explaining them. Her tests are really hard though and she does not curve. Grades tests and returns them really fast.
She just goes through the PowerPoint slides for most of the chapters and doesn't really expand on the material so not mandatory to got to class. You have to read the textbook and teach yourself mostly. Exams are tough but she used test bank questions from the book. She did bump everyone's grade at the end almost a letter grade tho
If you want to teach yourself the material, this is the class for you! Her exams are hard! She doesnt know how to explain the material, and her exams are nothing like the problems she works in class! Literally the worst class I have taken. STUDY STUDY and you'll get a decent grade.
Super hard tests were nothing like lectures
Her exams are very hard... also hard to keep in contact in email. Emailed her to ask her for help for feedback on one of the assignments, and never responded. She just reads from slides, but her lectures have a lack of flair and structure... save your GPA! I would not recommend her taking her.
Hard Hard Hard class and she doesn't know how to teach it. So far we took the first exam during the summer and the average class is 60%. she makes her own questions for exams and she DOES NOT USE TEST BANK. 5 quizzes and 5 exams. The 5th exam is final which is comprehensive. No extra credit.
I took it in the summer. Improved from what was commented in the past. She writes notes and works problems on the board which helps alot. Tests tend to be harder than the practice problems. The final was extremely hard. Just work all of the practice problems and go over the notes. There's 5 quizes, 4 tests, 1 final. Curve was a letter grade.
If you have insomnia, take McGhee's class and see how well rested you'll be after each class. 5 tests, homework and 19 pop quizzes to encourage you to come to a class where everyone is watching Youtube because there's no engagement. The material is already dense and boring, and while she's enthusiastic, careful to not look away or you'll be lost
McGhee is nice, and does seem to care. I think that the newly added lab takes away from lecture time. Tests are mega hard. The pre-curve class averages were 70, high 50's, high 40's, for the three tests. She does curve (almost 20pts on last test for me), and the final grade replacement is helpful. Final was easier. Take this at TCC tho, seriously.
She is a nice lady who clearly cares about the subject. Gives quizzes throughout the semester which boosts the final grade. The tests were very tough, and it felt impossible to score higher than a C in the class. She curved ok. Taking accounting 2 with her. Save yourself the headache and take accounting at TCC.
While I initially hated my decision with how difficult her test were, I began to see her in a new light towards the end of the semester. Yes her exams are hard, but she gives quizzes, homework, and curves test to increase your grade. She also replaces lowest test grade. Ended up with an A, only due to her generosity. Expect to put in work though.
She does quizzes most of the classes. Tests are hard and she does not curve much if any at all. The final was comprehensive and much easier than the midterms. She is very boring, but knowledgeable. Taking her for ACCT 2302 atm and she is even worse. If there are better options, avoid her.
Professor Mcghee is really kind and cares about her students. Her lectures are basically reviewing the chapter powerpoint, but she does go more in-depth and goes over examples which were extremely helpful to me. Just make sure to do the homeworks because they help you understand the concepts better and give you practice.
Tests are more on the difficult side. This class does require effort, but she makes it pleasant. The material is boring, she isnt. MyLab homework assignments, just like 2301. She gave no curves on tests, and gave quizzes pretty much every time we had a lecture but they were not hard. She is slightly disorganized during lectures and lecture notes.
She is an ok Professor. During 2020 fall semester, I had to take tests on campus but quizzes, and everything else was online through Canva. The course is test heavy so you want to study for them. The questions on the test are straight forward. Quizzes and Homework grade can help your grade if your test is high C's or B's. She responds quickly.
She's a very nice professor who cares for the students that care for her. When she teaches she wears her emotions on her sleeves and it hurts when her students never engage or show any passion for what she teaches (which isnt her fault). Care for her and try to care for the material you will be fine
I had to take Professor McGhee online, and her lecture videos were very helpful. It's not an easy class and it requires a lot of time and dedication, but with her helpful tips on how to study/prepare for the difficult exams, I was able to raise my exam grades by 20 points. You can tell she cares and knows her stuff since she was an accountant.
I dont know why her rating is so low, I took her for online and she is amazing, she covers everything in great detail and gives plenty of hand outs and examples to help prepare for test and do homework. The test are departmental so they are difficult but she has some awesome office hours lol take advantage.
She is not bad. Her lectures are good but she goes a little fast. You need to do homework, study the reviews, attend reviews session before the test, and lab. If you do all that you'll be ok and it won't be as bad as you thought. She got 3 tests total and a project instead of a final. I recommend watching youtube to have a better understanding
She's an awesome professor and a great resource because she is in charge of generating internships for accounting students! classes are well structured and she definitely teaches with high quality
I loved Professor McGhee! She is the sweetest professor I've ever had, but you seriously need to read the textbook, work on the examples given in class, and really pay attention to the homework. Anyone can do well in the class but you're going to have to put in the work. Don't stress try your best and you'll be okay.
Her online lectures were made of several short prerecorded videos per chapter. Watching those and taking notes, doing the homework, and skimming the book were enough for me to get an A. She was available by text, email, and Teams chat to answer questions anytime.
Way to much information required for students to remember for exams. Lectures are always interrupted by her horrible internet. Her first time teaching this class and it was a disaster in my opinion. Final is comprehensive and she says just re-read the class notes, easy for her to say when its over 300 slides. Avoid her.
The departmental tests are difficult. I thought Mcghee's lectures were irrelevant when it came to studying for the test. You have to read very carefully in the book and the tests are super tricky. This might be the better professor for this class because everyone else is the same or worse besides Davis. Take at TCC if you don't want to risk GPA.
For people who are not good test takers like myself this class is not going to be easy. The sad thing is that the professor is a real sweetheart and wants you to do well, but exams are hard to prepare for because there is no review and you're not allowed to use your notes. You need to retain ALOT of information to do well on exams
The professor online lectures are really helpful. She does short videos and explains the slides well. Her test were difficult for me. I am not a good test taker and some of the questions were difficult to answer even after studying. I understood the material and I made good grades on the quizzes but the exams were not like the quizzes.
Professor Mcghee is a nice professor. However, her class was very challenging because she does not record her TEAMS meeting therefore it is very hard to listen and takes notes during class without missing any important information. Class would be so much better if lectures were recorded. Attendance is a grade. For tests STUDY her notes.
She is the sweetest prof i've ever had, although the course is hard regardless who you take. She really cares about her students and wants us todo well but when she teaches she goes extremely FAST. You need to teach yourself and read the book. Really hard class
She knows her stuff and is really good at teaching. The exams are departmental dealing with conceptual and application of material questions. Getting an A I think is possible but realize it will take up a lot of time. Pace of the class felt a little off the first two weeks, because of the covid restrictions, but after the first exam it was fine.
I do not recommend this teacher she goes too fast in the lectures she is a whole mess the work in class is irrelevant to the exams. Exams are a large portion of the final grade so if you are not a good test taker just take another teacher or at TCC.
I highly recommend taking her class. She gives you tips on how to study for the course, gives extra credit, drops some low quizzes, and is always willing to help outside of class time. You do not have to read the book but it is highly recommended because you will understand better. If you want to major in Accounting I suggest taking her early on.
She is a real sweetheart and it is a hard class in general. Do the study guides to prep for the exams. It is not an easy class. she is probably one of the better professors and she replies to emails quite fast. I liked her as a whole.
She's a great teacher & her lectures are easy to understand. She tells you how to do well in the class (read book chapters twice, homework, do reviews she posts & the dynamic study modules). She gives a lot of quizzes but they are fairly easy and the lowest few quizzes get dropped. I'd prob have an A if I didn't slack on studying for exams.
Honestly if you read the book and go to class to take her notes youll be fine but like any departmental exams they are tough. She does daily quizzes to encourage attendance .
She is an amazing prof! I think the departmental exams are hard in general, but she gives many resources to use to study for the exam. She uploads recoding of her lectures that help a lot to look back if I missed anything.
McGhee really cares and wants her students to do well. It may feel like she is going fast during lectures but she is trying to cover as much material as she can. I really enjoyed taking her and recommend if you can take her, you should. Class wasn't as hard as it may seem as long as you attend class and put in effort outside of class as well.
I am terrible with numbers, I had to take this class as a music industry studies major. But honestly she made it super easy. You get all the info from class so it's important to go. There's HW due before every class but it doesn't take long and you get enough tries to get 100 on it every time. If you follow the class and do the HW, you will pass.
She was amazing! I enjoyed having her, her test reviews were well structured; giving the key words u need to know as well as key concepts. acct is hard, but she does her best to make it stick.
If you do the pre-class assignments, lectures will feel a lot less fast-paced. She does great overviews of the chapter and review problems as well. If you struggle in LEC, you may do better in LAB (friends have told me they did better in LAB). Very kind and willing to help you out when possible.
Prof MeGhee is a great professor who cares about her students. She teaches very well and clearly. There is homework every day before class but it is easy and short. I found the videos on the homework assignments to be very helpful. If you take notes on the videos or in class and participate in the practice assignments you will do fine.
shes the best acct 2301 professor. take her if you dont understand accounting at all.
She is an amazing prof! Took both, 2301/2302 with her. Her notes are amazing and posts them along with the study guides. I did slightly not as I wanted but never went to class for 2302 due to circumstances but an A is attainable as the course is by point accumulation. Super understanding as well, just communicate with her! I love her teaching style
She is a great professor & really cares about her students. She is easily accessible outside of class, and gives so much material to study for the exams. Attendance is mandatory yet her lectures arent boring. There are also multiple tutoring sessions available before exams. If you follow her tips + do well in lab + use her study guides you will pass.
you can tell she rlly cares ab accounting! exams aren't too difficult, just be present when taking notes for quizzes and you will be fine. also choose a good group for your project!
One of the best professors I have taken; she clearly knows her stuff, is engaging, and cares. Very organized modules and great class structure to help pace you. Online assignments for every class period, but most are fast and easy. Use the online practice tools; they will help prepare you for exams and learning the material. Labs are easy as well.
mcghee truly cares about her students and wants you to succeed but you do actually have to try for yourself
There is homework every day before class but it is easy and short. I found the videos on the homework assignments to be very helpful. If you take notes on the videos or in class and participate in the practice assignments you will do fine.
I had prof Mcghee spring semester 25, while its been complicated because she had some health issues, she still made great efforts to be in touch with us. She provides so much study material that is helpful. This class is hard but she really makes it her goal to provide as much resources as possible.
Amazing professor! Hated how she was gone the first half of semester, but she is super easy to understand. She will really take time to explain any difficult topics. Also, super understanding and is always happy standing in front of class.
