Very energetic, enthusiastic about helping students.(the Jackie Chan of math)

Get good at taking notes quickly, cause he moves fast. Make sure to read the chapter before lecture cause he sometimes glosses over important parts.
Really energetic but very fast - hand hurts at the end of class.
Professor Napier is perhaps the best teacher in the department. His teaching style is always direct, clear, and very insightful.

If you have a sense of humor, you can't help be entertained by napier. Hes a great teacher, explains everything clearly, and is just fun to watch... keep an eye out for the chalk all over his hands, clothes, and face.
Complex Variables is hard. He's a great teacher, and ready to help, super energetic, and you'll laugh when he DOES not stop teaching when things should make him stop. He's the best math teacher. PERIOD.
Napier will learn your name if you are in his class!!! He is an awsome teacher, a nice guy, and really funny. You will learn a lot from him. Only setback is that sometimes he makes simple concepts too complicated; then again this is Lehigh.
One of the best teachers at lehigh! He's very helpful and funny.
Professor Napier is a funny guy. He makes the math (much to his credit) seem like it's a lot of fun, but make no mistake, complex variables is a lot of work.
Napier is the man
Great math teacher and funny class. Material is easy, review for most aspiring engineers. Can make simple concepts complicated, but is always willing to clarify and help out.
Great Professor!
He's a great teacher. He explains all the material very clearly. Really cares about his students. Take him anytime possible. Plus his mannerisms are hilarious.
Professor Napier is one of my favorite professor's. He explains things very clearly and he's just a great guy.
terrence is the greatest math teacher of all time. he keeps math interesting by all of his detailed "explanations". very helpful and loves any question thrown at him.
He's got some strange quirks, but he's a clear enough teacher. Horrible subject matter though.
Great guy. I've never met a professor who truly cares about the students more. He will learn everyone's name and try so hard to get people involved in the lecture. Can't ask for a better professor.
Napier is the greatest math teacher I have ever had. Look this guy up on the internet-he's been all over the world to math symposiums. The "3x" series of calculus is worth taking if you like math, and you will learn the REAL way to do math. Make sure to take Napier's section of 31!
Looks like a ghostbuster. Great math humor. Great professor. Not the easiest class.
great prof, extremely intelligent, knows what he's talking about and draws BEAUTIFUL pictures. go to him for help with anything and he'll walk you right through it.
Probably the best math teacher I've ever had in my entire life - this guy was born to do his job. Super highly recommended.
great
Awesome prof. If you can get him, take him.
Professor Napier is an amazing math professor, which is unfortunately a bit of a rarity at Lehigh. Honors Calc can certainly be a challenge, but I actually felt like I learned something when I completed the class. If you get the opportunity to have him go for it!!
Napier is the man. Best prof at Lehigh.
Best teacher I've ever had, and so enthusiastic about the subject and about teaching.
Phenomenal. One of the best teachers out there. Incredibly helpful. Concerned about every students learning. Take his classes.
Very good professor.
Best math teacher ever.
He's adorable. You can tell he is soo smart. And hes very concerned with making sure we understand the material and trying to explain things in ways we'll get. I would never doubt anything he teaches and he'll always answer questions. The class itself is very challenging so good luck. Napier is the man.
This guy is awesome. If possible, switch your schedule around so you can sign up for his sections. Calc 3 is not easy no matter who teaches it, but Napier makes you really feel like you understand it. He had office hours 3 times a week, he really cares about the students and wants them to do well. Always available and willing to help.
If he told me that it was mathematically possible for the sky to be green, I'd believe it. Calc 3 is very tough material, but you can understand it somehow when he explains it. Whether or not you get his lectures, find out his office hours and GO TO THEM.
Very good!
best professor!
best professor! He's always trying to please everyone!
Good teacher, knows his stuff well.
A brilliant and lovable prof. Explains everything very well and holds great office hours.
Could not get the point across, failed to explain the concepts when students had questions, frequently performed incorrect arithmetic, which was highly confusing.
I feel like he knows his stuff, it's just hard content to teach. Stresses being able to visualize the drawings. Doesn't do a good job telling you what new topic you are learning; kind of just jumps into the idea. Tests questions are the easier questions of the hard topics. After the second midterm, class requires a lot more effort.
For those who do like Math, Prof. Napier's lectures are a joy to attend. He is incredibly smart, knows the subject really well and explains the concepts very clearly. He also has a good sense of humor and cares about his students. Just go to his office hours and you will know how helpful he is. I'd def. switch my schedules to sign up for his class!
Great professor. lovable and really cares about his students. Really wants to help his students. Very smart and knows what he's talking about, you just have to make the effort to ask questions
Napier is one of the best calc teachers I've ever had. He makes a point to call you by name when you ask a question, so you can tell he really cares. He's always willing to help, and he apologizes a million times if he makes a mistake. Overall great teacher and genuine guy
Great professor however the material gets really hard at the end. Tons of bookwork / web assign but easily doable with wolfram alpha. Be prepared to have no idea what you're doing at times but definitely better than the other profs
very hard course. he has a tendency to ramble. exam problems were worded very differently from previous homework assignments.
Nonstop homework and impossible exams. I seriously have never gotten below an A in a math class and I worked my ass off and just failed the 2nd 4 oclock. Gotta say if you're taking calc 3 at Lehigh Napier is your best bet.........
Excellent Professor! MATH401 is the hardest course I've ever taken in any subject. I bombarded his office hours, and I'm not doing Great in the class, but he always greets me with a smile and answers my silly questions. He really cares about his students and even if my grades don't show it, I really feel like I've learned the material
Prof. Napier is one of the best professors I've had thus far. He's very available. His lectures are enjoyable, and he can be very entertaining. He's a great person. I would always recommend him. The course was The hardest course I've taken in any college. But I learned so much. Prepare to hit the books hard. Prof Napier is here for you.
Take advantage of his availability during office hours and after class EARLY; your understanding of calculus will increase drastically, hopefully. Prof. Napier will take an interest your struggles in calc if you approach him. His side comments in class are hilarious. STUDY the textbook and UNDERSTAND at least 95% of the material! Knowing problems
The tests are difficult (quizzes aren't so bad), but I would HIGHLY recommend taking his class since he writes the midterms and finals; my friends from other professors were sometimes lost... He does go a little fast in his lectures but he explains concepts very well. He really cares about his students and tries to make things easy to understand.
He's a gentleman, who knows everything and proves he's writing completely. He really cares about every student, and tries to have a class in which EVERYONE is happy! You're gonna love him :-)
Good professor. Knows the course material well and explains it very clearly. The course is hard itself, but he's doing the best he can to make it easier for his students.
MATH 023 is a hard class no matter who teaches, but he tries hard to make the material sounds easy as possible. He sincerely answers questions from us. Would recommend him for any other classes.
He's very passionate about the material, but it was still a very difficult course.
Tried and failed to make the material interesting, just not a teaching style that really works for me. Nice guy but ended up teaching myself what I could and it totally killed my GPA.
Prof. Napier's teaching style wasn't something I was used to. He was too smart for his own good, and had a hard time teaching the class. Wouldn't take him again, but didn't do poorly in the class.
Prof. Napier is a cinnamon roll too good for this world, too pure. He gives me hope for humanity. He is honestly the most kind, caring, and passionate professor I've ever had.
One of the kindest and caring professors ever. He is way too smart to teach the course, so sometimes the lectures can get confusing because he adds additional information/gets on tangents. Material can be sometimes confusing, so you have to do homework and attend lectures. However, he is super helpful if you need clarification on anything.
He is a really good and nice prof, and he is my advisor too, he really cares about his students.
Extremely nice guy and great professor. Can sometimes be confusing because he is too smart. Lectures can go slightly too fast. Assigns 3 homework assignments a week which can get a little tedious.
His lectures are actually stressful to go to in that he is half yelling sometimes, stares at the board looking very concerned, and jogs from one end of the board to the other. He assigns far too much homework (both online and written which are especially long and tedious). His "very clever" and "great" hw and exam problems can be found online??
Great at providing plenty of examples during lecture to illustrate the concepts and explains the theoretical aspects of the material well which creates a nice blend. His class is tough and you have to work hard to do well but if you put in the effort, then you can do well, learn a lot, and gain from having a challenging and beneficial experience.
Math023 is a difficult class and will eat up a lot of your time. Professor Napier has a deep understanding of the material at hand. He knows his students' names and is my first professor (sophomore) who I feel like has truly cared about me. GREAT GUY. I learned a ton, thanks professor Napier!
Professor Napier truly cares about his students and their success, and it shows through his preparation for each lecture. Although the honors material is challenging, it makes the non-honors material feel much easier (which is more frequent on exams).
I loved this professor. He always carries a step stool with him to reach the top of the white board and says "oh raspberries" when he makes a mistake. He is an adorable little man but really knows the math well. He is easy to understand and stays on top of the schedule. He really cares about his students and is very good at giving useful examples.
An amazing, respected, dedicated teacher. He really cares about what he teaches you and whether you get it or not. Take him any chance you get. However, don't take MATH 033. It is absurdly hard and even his impressive teaching prowess will only help you so much. You don't need the ego boost, just take regular MATH 023 and skip the honors.
Literally the nicest professor in the math department. He is such a sweet man who is too smart for literally everyone. He likes to explain proofs in class that might not be necessary but he is willing to help anyone in office hours. Also he usually makes the test so if you have him you will probably do better.
Literally a genius. No matter the question he will do anything in his power to help you reach an answer. He will assign a lot of homework but it will only help you and don't use Chegg to copy answers. He does speed through the last sections (the hardest) which are practically what the final is on. Don't take MATH033, it is unnecessarily difficult.
Prof. Napier is the best lecturer that I have this semester. He does quality, in depth examples in his lectures that really help to explain the material. He is one of the smartest people I have ever met (kinda, since I only see him over zoom) and genuinely seems to enjoy teaching this class. I would happily take the class again
Listen, I only have his video lectures to speak of but here I go. He seems like a really nice guy and good lecturer, he goes on a tangent sometimes, and also shows proofs a lot you really don't need tbh. My only gripe is that his video lectures are shot in like 240p... Can a university not provide this man a good webcam?
Professor Napier is the smartest professor I have ever met, regardless of subject. He truly cares about the material and his students' success. Tests are fair, and expect a lot of homework during this course. Professor Napier will answer any question and stick around during office hours to make sure his students really understand the material.
A bit messy but very sweet and explained every query in depth.
Professor Napier cares so much about the material he is teaching and is so excited when students share the excitement as well.
This class was unbearable. 3 homework assignments a week, hours of lectures to watch before each class meeting, and mandatory zoom attendance made this class far exceed the time commitment one should expect for a four credit course. I enjoyed all of the other Calculus classes at Lehigh, but Napier's class killed my desire to learn.
Napier is a great prof. CALC023 is a hard class no matter what but he teaches very well and I enjoyed his class. Considerable amount of HW but that happens in math and it's necessary to keep up. He always answered questions the best he could. He also cares a lot about learning names, and overapologizes if he messes up in a meek but endearing way.
Super nice professor. Sometimes the lectures are a little confusing but he is very willing to work with you outside of class. Definitely go to office hours.
He was the worst professor I've had at Lehigh by far. His class was unhelpful at best. Its better to read the book and youtuve. The hoemwork load was extreme with hoemwork 3 times a week. The last week of class he assigned 3x the usual amount. Also, hes a very harsh grader and and any mistakes show "a fundamental misunderstanding of the material."
A bit awkward in lectures, sometimes leaving important material for us to discover in the homeworks/textbook, but a good teacher for the course, with a perfect understanding of how the material works
Napier is wonderful. He tries to get to know his students names, and is always offering extra office hours. All the tests he makes are very fair. That being said, this is the hardest math class I've ever taken. It's defiantly passable if you do all the homework and take the time to fully understand it. The final exam material is really hard so...
Napier was a good professor by Lehigh math dept. standards. My biggest piece of advise would be to read the textbook before his lectures though. It's easy to get lost in calc 3 but once you grasp what's going on his lectures are pretty good. Makes an effort to learn everyone's names. I wish he posted homework answers though - that majorly sucked.
Prof Napier is very nice and caring of his class. He was always respectful of students' names and was a good professor overall. Homework can take a long time and be challenging (much harder problems than exams). Exams are much easier than the hws and as long as you know how to do examples from lectures you'll be fine on them.
Calc 3 is a very difficult class, but Napier makes understanding the content easier by showing a genuine care for students and good explanations through office hours. However, there is a lot of homework and it is quite difficult - Napier also left some explanations for the textbooks to do rather than in lecture. I would recommend being proactive.
Napier is a great professor! He takes the time to learn the names of students who participate in lecture. His writing on the blackboard can sometimes be difficult to read, but he's happy to reexplain it. For me, it was helpful to read the textbook in addition to attending lectures. The tests were an appropriate difficulty for the course.
Solid professor if you're a mathematician wanting to understand theory. However, if you're an engineer looking to understand the applications of calculus he might throw you for a loop. His lectures consist of filling up as many chalkboards as possible and lack any of the application that you will see in the homework.
Great professor. He really cares about all of his students. Lectures can sometimes get confusing but he's very accessible and helpful in office hours. This course deals with a lot of mathematical theory and some of this concepts are difficult, but he gives a study guide for each exam, which is very helpful because a lot of content is covered.
I have never met a professor worse than terry. He manage to make every topic confusing and has no organization to his lectures. Possibly worse than James siene. How can you make slope confusing.
Very sweet guy. Easy to find either him or TAs outside of class. Exams are fair. Lectures are somewhat interesting and taught well. Homework is often very annoying, as he gives difficult problems you barely touch in lectures fairly frequently. Very generous with partial credit on exams. Tries really hard to know everyone's name in a lecture of 80.
